Ordered a take out here while waiting for the anacortes ferry .. Stuffed potato naan and murg Bahar were my favorite .. Chicken biriyani was only ok-ish .. Will come back again ..

As the dinner spot prior to the Whose Live Anyway show at the local Swinomish Casino, I think me and my friend enjoyed it. I ordered some sort of chicken dish. It was tasty. The remnants and sauce in the silver bowl were cleaned up with some jasmine rice. The delightful hot chai alongside was the perfect touch... mmm, chai. My first visit to Anacortes, as well. This is a nice choice for dinner.

Another wonderful Indian dinner at Sher-E-Panjab. We had Tandoori chicken, chicken curry with the special sauce, and the garlic and cilantro naan. Everything was terrific. It's more than worth the 45 minute drive to get authentic Indian food. And a very nice, friendly and attentive family preparing and serving it.

This is my favorite restaurant in Anacortes and Anacortes has some good restaurants. Wait staff is super nice. Cricket is always on TV - a little un-American, but it is an Indian restaurant!

Really yummy. Dishes were actually spicy when we asked for spicy. Would go here again for sure!

Got the spinach curry with cheese curds and garlic naan bread!! It was delicious! I loved the cheese curds. Just wish it wasn't so pricy but what do you expect for the small island area?

Great food but very slow service and on Thursday night. The older waitress is quite friendly but doesn't speak much English or her English isn't that clear. Makes me wonder why the younger woman who was always present didn't wait our table. Anyway you can't be in a hurry for service or food.

The worst worst restaurant I have ever been. The samosa we ordered was smelling rotten and it even had fungus in it. Don't even think about going to this restaurant.

We came here last night for dinner, the service is extremely slow so don't go if you're in a hurry...with that said, the food was amazing and flavors were divine. We ordered lamb, a few different curry sauces with chicken and garlic/basil naan. The chicken simosa's were just okay, and a bit pricey for two but we will for sure be coming back!

My daughter had been encouraging me to try this Indian Restaurant for quite some time! Last week, I finally tried it! And yeah, I was blown away. Ordered the Chicken Tikka 5 stars...spicy, but so very flavorful. The spice was intense- but not the kind that burns your mouth so that you cannot taste anything after the first few bites. The rosemary naan was tasty, chewy and perfect for dipping. While I'm not an Indian food conisseuer, I know good food. And this was good. The chicken was all white meat- which is so appreciated!!!! I will return with my family and enjoy this amazing restaurant time and time again! Woohoo for diversity in lil Anacortes, Wa!

This is probably located where I could never have imagined an Indian restaurant. While visiting Chuckanut dr and deception pass my buddy was checking his yelp app to find some good places to eat when we get back in Seattle but this place popped up by chance and I thought let's check it out. Seems like a family run place and food is amazing. Much better than any Indian restaurant in Seattle area. We ordered a chicken dish, daal and paneer with tandoori roti and naan. I give 5 stars to each of these. Although I can say raita could be better (thicker) !! If you are in Anacortes area, don't miss this place.

Yum!! Seems a little strange to find an amazing Indian restaurant in the middle of Anacortes, but it's a great gem! It's a great restaurant with really, really good food! Service is helpful, and if you come during non-peak hours, it's a little slow, but it's because the owner is in the back cooking for you! I haven't tried their buffet, but I can hazard a guess that it's also excellent! Decor is low-key and well put together. I love Indian food, and I'm so glad I can find good Indian food away from my local places down here on the Eastside! I would come here again in a heartbeat. Also, they only use boneless, white meat chicken! Their menu items are named a little differently than I'm used to, but they said that was because they were transitioning to more "popular" names that more people would recognize. Oh well, I still got exactly what I wanted! They also have take-out! Can't wait to go back!

Service was a little slow and awkward, but the food was quite flavorful. We enjoyed the chicken tikka masala and the lamb vindaloo. It's definitely worth returning.

Super slow. We waited over 45 minutes before we received our food. Will not be returning.

I am obsessed with this place. I live in Bellingham and are happy to drive down on a regular basis. I just randomly order off the menu now. Nothing has disappointed me yet. Friends that "hate" curry- quickly change their tune after one meal here. Enjoy! We are lucky to have this place.

An Indian restaurant in little old Anacortes? It has to spell trouble, don't you think? I went to Sher-E-Panjab the first time on my own, prepared to be a little disappointed, but hoping for at least something that resembled non-American, Indian food. The first signs were good. A cricket match was playing on the restaurant TV. At least if the food was bad I could console myself with the cricket! I was seated at a pleasant table and as I read through the mainly standard Indian-fare menu, was offered a couple of cardboard popadums and some dipping mixes. Not the best start. But, all was to be made right. The first time I go to an Indian restaurant in this country (I'm originally from England) I usually order the lamb vindaloo. This is a good test. Firstly, how well can they cook lamb (I've had so many bad pieces of lamb in the USA)? Secondly, how do they spice up their curries, naturally or just by adding chilies? I ordered the 5/6 heat scale, sipped on my Kingfisher lager and waited. The meal did not disappoint. It was tasty and spicy and had plenty of tender lamb and potatoes. The basmati rice was fresh and the accompanying naan bread I ordered was wonderful and not too thick and doughy. I left happy. So, onto visit number two. This time around I tried the chicken tikka masala and my wife had the curried coconut chicken. I upped my spice level to 6/6 and was not disappointed. The dish was well-rounded in flavor and the chicken very tender. My wife's dish was tasty too. I can wholeheartedly recommend this little restaurant if you're anywhere near Anacortes. It is better than several I have eaten at in other Seattle locales. Service is good and the only reason it didn't get a five star was the cardboard popadums. They just weren't as good as they could have been.

We went for a Sunday night dinner. The service was superb and the food excellent. The food compares very well with what we are used to in Seattle. Highly recommended.

This has become one of our favorite restaurants! Everything so far has been quality. The lamb chops were excellent and perfectly spiced (not too much). Next time we will go with a bit more spicy.

I was visiting a friend in Oak Harbor and we were looking for something new to try, so we found this little gem. We arent super familiar with Indian food, so we ordered what sounded good on the menu. We also ordered two flavors of Naan, which were both good. We came in with 2 small kids, and the staff was VERY patient and accommodating of the kids. They brought out cups with lids for the kids with water, without us having to ask. They also let us know what was spicy and what wasn't, so that we could give it to them. The kids arent fans of Indian food, but we sure are. Other than the food being a bit spicier than we expected, it was all very good. I'd recommend this restaurant if you are in the mood for some tasty Indian food.

Holy Smokes! Went in expecting not too much and came out full, satisfied and so impressed with the food and the wonderful family that runs it. If you are not sure about indian food, come and they will teach you. You control the spiciness with your choices. Great food, great value wonderful place. Give it try!

Found this restaurant while we were getting our new boat fitted out and very glad I did. First time I went because the Greek restaurant across the street that we had liked the night before was closed. Sometimes random shots pay of and this did in spades. Had a really nice fried cheese dish with a vegetable garnish (sorry, I can't remember the Indian names.) Understated and subtle (not, in my experience, a common trait with Indian food) and just the thing to start with. It came with a papadum and a fruity sauce, which I did not order but you get it for walking in, and plain nan, which I did order. Both excellent. I ordered a lamb tandoori dish that was good but not particularly special but then I am not a huge fan of tandoor cooking and, looking back, I am not sure why I ordered it except that I love lamb. Left stuffed and eager to return. A couple weeks later I was back, this time with a friend. Had the ubiquitous papadum and, this time garlic nan. Excellent as before. I redid the cheese thing and liked it again. The real find was the main courses. Mine was a chicken dish in a spinach sauce. Rich also had chicken but in a yellow curry type sauce. We had two vegetable sides as well. All of this was as good as I have ever had in an Indian restaurant. The seasonings were appropriate, intriguing, and just plain delicious. Heat level was perfect (we specified medium.) Had to stop when I couldn't cram in another mouthful but did so reluctantly. Prices were more than reasonable for food of this quality. Service was excellent -- we shut the place down and they waited politely until we were done. The place is small and the decor simple. It is not going to compete with Anthony's down the street for ambiance but the food is just right. I'm not a connoisseur of Indian food but I have had a good deal of it and know what I like. This is as good as I have had anywhere. Looking forward to my next visit.

Dinner for two on Thursday night at 5:30pm. Very happy to see Indian food available in Anacortes. Space was clean and tidy. Service was quick as you would expect with only a few people eating dinner at 5:30. Ordered two servings of Naan bread (large servings only needed one) one lamb jalfrezie and (level 4) and one Chicken Tikka Masala (Level 0). The lamb was a bit extra chewy, but the jalfreze, vegetables, spice level and rice was excellent. Tikka Masala was very good and perfect for dipping the Naan. Two glasses of wine and walked out with a 60 dollar check to include tip. I will definitely be back. Cricket was on as well for an extra bonus.

I like their buffet lunch. It's a really good price and the food is wonderful. The people who run the place are super nice too! I wish I would see more people when I go here. It seems a little slow and it shouldn't be because the food is flavorful and the price is reasonable.

We have been driving by this place for two years now, always in a hurry to catch the ferry. Finally stopped in on our way to Seattle for our anniversary. Amazing food! The menu is large and we had no idea what was what, so we asked our sweet server for suggestions. They have a variety of sauces, and then you pick the meat (or veggies) you want the sauce with. She recommended the mixed appetizer plate, the Gill's sauce and we had lamb. She also recommended the garlic naan. It was all amazingly good. Price was unbelievably... Low! When does that ever happen? We can't wait to go back. Make sure to get a take-out menu so you can pick it up on your way back to the islands... Whoever gave the one bad review must have been somewhere else. Service was fast and very, very sweet people!

We have been waiting for years for an Indian restaurant to come to town and Sher E Panjab has made the wait worthwhile. Every dish we've had has been great and the service is always friendly and helpful..

My husband is in the military so we move around a lot. Every time we settle in an area, we always look for a decent Indian restaurant. We were concerned when we got here because it seems a little rural, but this place blew us away. I haven't had chicken tikka masala this flavorful in 3 years and perhaps even longer. He had the seafood briryani and loved it as well. The naan is perfect and can be eaten alone because of the flavor. Very clean establishment and lovely owners. They even showed us where they make the naan in their custom clay oven! Go eat there now. Do it.

We had lunch at Sher-E-Punjab on a Friday, ordered from the menu (not the buffet), and thoroughly enjoyed everything. The food was mild (our request), yet very flavorful, and satisfying. We asked about the size of the vegetable samosas, were told "medium," and were pleasantly surprised to find two quite large samosas on the plate that came. Service was excellent and friendly, and the cook himself delivered the chicken on a sizzling iron platter. (I asked about the quilt framed near the buffet, and was told it was brought from Rajasthan - already old) and given to the restaurant by our server, a sweet Granny. I would give five stars, but my experience of Indian restaurants is limited. Needless to say, this is very good, and we will return and recommend it to friends.

All I can figure is the owners of this place are loading up these over the top reviews. We went here for lunch. It was not good at all. The buffet was barely warmed up and tasted like it had been made for days. The salad was limp. No way would I recommend this place. I LOVE Indian food and know better. And the service didn't help either. We weren't given a menu and just assumed our only choice was the buffet. Another group came in after us and helped themselves to the menus because the service was too lazy to give them to them. Maybe they knew something we didn't, to skip the buffet! But I am not returning to find out. I prefer my food freshly made.

Don't know why we didn't go here sooner. Delicious food! REALLY DELICIOUS! Pleasant setting with white table clothes topped by glass. Casual, comfortable, and welcoming. Best of all was the food. We ordered Tandoori chicken, Tandoori Lamb Chops and Paan Bread! WOW! Both came with rice and the best Tandoori sauce on the side. My four pieces of chicken arrived on top of a sizzling bed of onions. Since there were four pieces of chicken, next time we will order one Tandoori chicken, Paan (THE BEST) and an order of vegetables.... to share, as others nearby did. Each meal was about $15.00 each. Better than Anthony's! They also have a full bar. Go for dinner.

Family Owned and Operated, just the way I like it! I haven't had a bad meal yet! Dinner is absolutely delicious. I think buffetts are disgusting, but I would eat at this buffet ANY DAY! 10.95 and they have a great variety of dishes to choose from! If I could afford to eat out every day I would make this a daily stop for sure! Keep up the good work and thank you Sher-E-Panjab!!! ps try the lamb naan(forgot the name) SO GOOD!

Whether you live in Anacortes or you're traveling through, you should plan a trip to Sher-E-Panjab. We've eaten here 4 times in the last 2 months and each meal has been delicious. It's family-run and the service has always been attentive. But it's the food you're after, and you won't be disappointed! Among the dishes we've enjoyed are Mango Chicken, Daal Tadka, Fire-Roasted Eggplant [Benghan Bharta], Chicken Tikka, Vegetable Samosas, and Papri Chat. What we especially appreciated is that the flavor of the dishes does not depend on the level of "heat"; each dish was flavorful whether it was mild or hot. Also, their selection of Naan [Indian bread} is extensive--we particularly enjoyed the Naan with garlic and basil. They also have something like a mango salsa, which is amazing. The restaurant isn't in the middle of the downtown area, it's a bit further up Commercial Avenue on about 21st Street. It's an easy drive to or from the ferry landing, so you should plan on having dinner on your way to or from the ferry. Of course if you live in the Anacortes area you can stop by anytime, and we suggest that you do! And like all great Indian restaurants, their entire menu is available. One more thing--they have gotten their liquor license and have a good selection of bottled beer; they also pour a generous glass of wine.

Visiting freinds in Anacortes and trying to find an indian restaurant so we went to yelp and found this place. The reviews were stellar and our experience was stellar as well. The service was a bit slow but the food was well worth the wait. There were 6 of us and the only disappointment was the chicken ceaser salad. But who orders that at an Indian restaurant anyway? The Naan was superb and all of the other dishes, names I cant pronounce, were fantastic. Prices were good too. I highly recommend it!!!

I'll definitely try this again, but my first impression was mixed. The Goods: - Food diversity in Anacortes. All for it! - Tasty tandoor-baked items -- both the naan/paratha and the meats. - Daily lunch buffet - Extensive menu that extends beyond standard Indian fare The Others: - Ordered 'Mixed Grill' based in part on the menu stating that it was served on a "bed of caramelized onions." "Nice touch!" I thought. The onions were raw. Oops. - No option for a vegetarian combo dinner. Veggie dishes are full-sized or nothing, and as such a bit expensive. - Confusing "star system" for "spiciness" (1 to 6 stars). I realize this is my personal pet peeve, but I never know how to interpret this? Is the normal dish 6 stars but they leave out spice if you ask for less? Or is it normally 1 star and they add heat if you ask for it? Spicy as in hot or spicy as in full-flavored? I did what I normally do and just asked for "authentic" as I'm fine with spice/heat and wanted the chef to simply put in the amount of spice he thought the dish required, but they had no idea what to do with that (and I think wrote down '1'). Overall -- lots of potential. I hope people warm to it so they have a chance to come into their own!

The food deserves five stars. It's the service that caused the lower star rating. The service is incredibly slow. Every time. It takes them forever just to come take a drink order. The server I had played on the computer instead of taking my order. It takes forever, but if you're willing to be ignored, the food is really good.

A gem of a restaurant! Inside it's clean and tidy.Service was good, staff welcoming and food was excellent.Vegetable pakora to start was nice, then we had lamb jalfrezi and lamb karahi.Yum. Excellent food! We've eaten at many indian restaurants in Portland, Seattle, Vancouver BC and the Bay Area and this is right up there with the best. Very excited to have this new restaurant in town, check them out! Had their Matter Mushroom dish today with garlic basil naan, excellent.

This place is my favorite local restaurant!!! Amazing and consistent food. Authentic. Great delivery service from friendly people. Try the garlic basil naan, the matter mushrooms, gill's special sauce, bindhi masala and pretty much everything. You will be happy you did.

The second I walked in this restaurant I felt transported back home to my nana's kitchen. The smell of all the different Indian spices made my mouth water instantly. I ordered some samosas and yellow lentils and they tasted almost as good as my grandmothers (no one can beat out her food in my eyes haha). I will definitely be coming back to try out more of their amazing Indian cuisine.

My wife and I just got done whale watching, and we were hungry. Yelp gave this place 4.5 stars so we decided to give it a try. We had salty lasses, tikka masala with chicken, saag paneer, naan and assorted pickle. It also came with rice. There was a bit of a wait, but when the food arrived and we tasted it, it was obvious that it was all cooked fresh. Absolutely delicious. The service was great as well. I nice end to a nice day.

  • Katy F.

My family and I came here for lunch and decided to order off the menu instead of pick from the lunch buffet. I'm glad we did! There was. Good selection in the buffet though. We ordered the mixed appetizer, garlic and rosemary naan, mixed pickles, mixed grill, eggplant bharta, karahi sauce with chicken and Gills' special sauce with lamb. I don't even know where to start. Every dish was wonderfully unique and delightful. I recommend every one of these dishes. My favorite was eggplant. The fresh spices and ingredients made this a wonderful culinary journey through India. For some of the dishes you choose the spice on a scale of 1-6. We chose 3 for all and it was a good amount of spice. If you enjoy Indian cuisine this is the restaurant for you! You will not be disappointed.

What a pleasant surprise that we found this restaurant in Anacortes. From the welcome, service, food, and atmosphere everything we ate and experienced was top notch. EVERYTHING was tasty. I'm not a connoisseur of Indian food, but I enjoyed every bite. The next time we are in town we will definitely eat here again!

We called in a take out order of the aloo gobi and tandoor chicken tikka to eat while waiting in line for the ferry. SO good! Whatever Magic they put in that sauce with the chicken blew my mind. I've been craving it constantly since. They had the food ready, were quick and friendly- five stars for sure. This place rocks.

Found this place through Yelp and tried it on the way back to Seattle from Anacortes. This place is very good and is an authentic Punjabi Indian restaurant. We ordered the Papdi chat for appetizer, this was the only item that was just okay and could have been made better. For entrees, i had the Mutter paneer and Mint/Coriander chicken kabob with Roti and Mint Paratha. All the dishes tasted very authentic and were not greasy or creamy like usual indian restaurants. The rice that came on the side was also quite flavorful. Service was pretty good.

Being Indian and having tasted quite a variety of restaurants in North America, I am very picky about my choice if Asian restaurants. So when I looked up the reviews on yelp of an Indian restaurant all the way in Anacortes, I assumed that it got good ratings simply because they are the only Indian restaurant in the place. I was wrong. Let me sum it up and tell you why. It's a whole family run affair - first sign that this is authentic and chances of the food being legitimately tasty is very high. The older grandma walked around and worked constantly while we sat there and ordered. She has the sweetest smile, energy of a 30 year old and was quite lovely. The service was fast and efficient. I usually never order seafood from an Indian restaurant since most places would probably not know how to clean them, but gave this one a shot. The mussels in curry wine sauce was outstanding - it blew us away. The sauce had some well developed flavor, not the swimming watery masala goo you get in buffets. We lapped it up with the garlic/basil naan, which was really tasty. I only wished that they had used fresh basil in the naan. The lamb with the Gil's special curry was very good. I did a spice level of 4 which was just right. The spinach naan was abundant in the leafy goodness and hot from the tandoori. We are thinking of making it a staple choice for dinner/lunch everytime we pass by Anacortes now. It's not only an amazing Indian restaurant for the locals but a must try for tourists passing by the town or on their way to the ferry - this place will not disappoint.

We were a family of 6 - with 3 generations - all had just got done whale watching - were tired and hungry. We were craving a warm meal and came upon Sher-E-Panjab. The reviews seemed food and it was very accessible on Commercial Ave. So, we decided to go. Since we were late, we called in and were asked to come in pretty close to closing time. We ordered - plain naan, onion cilantro naan, paneer tikka masala (3 *), eggplant bharta (4 *) and vegetable biryani (3 *). As a few of the other reviewers have mentioned, the food took a while to come out. But when it did, we loved it! The naans were really hot, soft and full of flavor. The side dishes tasted good and fresh. A tad less spicy than we thought, but flavorful. The basmati rice that came with the dishes was a generous portion. They even obliged us masala chai, to go - when we were done (almost close to 9.30 PM), well past their closing time. The staff were courteous, restaurants clean. Turns out its a family run affair - and done so pretty well. To think we've been in the area, have driven past the place and hadn't noticed it. Bummer. We will definitely go back here if we are in the area.

  • Derrick T.

They have some of the best Indian food I've had... so flavorful! Great vegetable curry, chicken tikka masala and naan was fresh and fantastic. We were disappointed to see that they no longer do a lunch buffet. I guess it wasn't economically feasible since they didn't have many customers for it when we ate there, which is unfortunate. If you live in Anacortes, you've got to eat here. Let's give them our patronage so we don't lose this amazing restaurant.

Oh yum. We recently spent a rainy evening at the Islands Inn and were craving some Indian takeout. We ordered the Tikka masala and Chicken korma as well as some veggie samosas and pakora (all for only $45). Each came with to-go chutneys, etc. I guess since our local place we go to for Indian food has tiny portions, we were cautious and ended up over-ordering here. The samosas are enormous and we ended up leaving a decent portion of food in the hotel fridge. The takeout took a little longer than they estimated, so when I picked it up I ended up waiting inside for 15-20 minutes - they did make me feel welcome by offering me some water and a seat at the bar. It ended up being a perfect meal and I would definitely come here again!

This restaurant serves perhaps the best Indian food north of Seattle in Washington. When I visited, the restaurant was swamped with customers - probably from the Anacortes Arts Festival - so the service was slow, but it was worth the wait. Everyone in my party shared our dishes, and we were happy with everything. (I particularly liked the saag paneer.) Worth traveling a ways just to eat here.

I'll join the chorus with my praise of this place. It rivals food I have had in London and Kuala Lumpur. Excellent tandoori chicken and saag paneer.

I have visited Sher-E-Panjab exactly three times, and exactly three times I have been seated at the same exact table. Coincidence? Perhaps, but my wife and I had a chuckle with that on our latest visit. I would like to think they remember us, but we are infrequent visitors! Every time, I have enjoyed their entree's, specifically, I have ordered Gil's Special Sauce with Lamb, and an order of Naan. My wife will change things up a bit each visit, but every time I have left there with a full belly and leftovers. The food is excellent. The mixed grill sampler plate for an appetizer is excellent. We have tried all the Naan's that they serve, except for the stuffed crust variety, and the rosemary Naan is my personal favorite. We have had their calamari as well, also wonderful and not too much of a coating. The only reason for not giving the restaurant five stars is the service can be a little slow, particularly with refilling water glasses, and even when there are not many other guest there. When you order a "5" and there is some heat, I tend to go through glasses a little quicker. a "1"-"5" scale is used for the heat of your meals. A "3" has been somewhat inconsistent with our visits, as this time it wasn't hot at all (IMHO) but my wife felt a slight burn with her "3". The last time I had a "3" it required a lot more water than was coming around to the table. (Disclaimer: I am aware that eating the Naan would have helped. I drink a lot of water regardless). The entire family is extremely pleasant and polite. I know that there are other Indian restaurants in the area, but we have been more than happy with the three visits that we have had here that we don't see the need to check out the others, and the reviews speak for themselves. We (the wife and I) recommend Sher-E-Panjab if you are looking for great food, and get your values worth with wonderful cuisine. Oh, and they have always had a cricket game on the TV! We look forward to our next visit, back to our same spot!

Making our way to the San Juan Islands, we decided to have have dinner here . I have Indian blood , so I know a good curry. The first thing we noticed that was terribly wrong was that the Papadums were stale and when we inquired and asked for fresh ones we were told they were fresh and they could heat them up for us if they weren't warm...The tandoori chicken was off... And I mean rotten and smelling like rotting meat... When when I called the owner aside and told him about it he said yeah could be and I said well I don't want to pay for it and I don't feel like eating any of your other meat. He would not take our other meat dishes off the bill and we ended up paying for them but not eating them. All in all to be served rotten meat in a restaurant is extremely offputting and it's quite obvious that these restaurant owners are using old food and reusing food that sat out all day long in their buffet ....

If you're heading to the ferry, stop and have an authentic lunch that makes any passage smooth. Vegetarian and vegan options are easy choices. Meat eaters can enjoy traditional tandoori choices. We'll run, friendly and authentic.

This place is average, I have had much better, more tastier Indian food in my life. But, for the area this is a good choice since it's the only one in Anacortes. The decor, service, and cleanliness of the place gets 5 stars. But, food is average and did not leave me wanting more. I will not be going back. We started off with mixed platter as appetizers, then had the chicken masala and lamb masala with a #2-3 spice. They were both okay but, a lot of the food was very salty. In fact I tasted more salt than curry, garlic, cumin and other savory aromatic spices that you normally get with Great Indian food. I will make the 60 mile journey to Vancouver to get my next Indian food fix, or cook my own. I wanted to like this place because of all the great reviews, but it turned out to be a miss for both of us.

Excellent food whenever I don't feel like cooking Indian. My boys love it. They can really kick up that spice level.

We were seated right away and the service was excellent. We started out with the app sampler. Everything was pretty average. The samosas weren't anything special and the pakora was a little too heavily spiced. My wife had paneer saag and it was pretty bland. I had the mutton jalfrezi and it was decent, there were bites that were pretty good but overall it was just alright. The naan variations were probably the best part of the meal. In the end I would say this very well may be the best Indian food in the area, but that is not saying much. I say go for it if you are in the area and want some decent Indian food.

If you can't dazzle their tastebuds with flavor then kill them with salt. The food is decent; however, it just doesn't live up to some of the moonglow reviews published here. I understand that restaurants have to cater to the prevailing culture's taste and that we Americans love us some salt but the dishes we had here were downright briny. Would I return if I was stuck in Anacortes and needed an Indian fix? You bet I would. But I wouldn't go out of my way for it either.

We went here on 2/13 for dinner. We love Indian Himalayan food and although this place was similar we found it to be quite salty than Indian food we are used to. The garlic naan was great, service was wonderful and the restaurant had a nice ambiance. We both had the Chicken Tikka Masala. Although we enjoyed it the restaurant, the food was a little too salty for us so we probably won;t go back.

Never make the mistake of ordering take out at Sher E Punjab. They give last priority to take out customers over in house customers even though both pay the same. And no apologies as well !!' Really horrible service

I eat here weekly. And love it. If your new or hesitant, go for their lunch buffet. Try some of everything you will be pleasantly surprised. The buffet comes with the naan bread, which is a must have. So don't forget to order some when you get dinner. I'm reserving 5 stars for very special restaurants. But Sher-e-Punjab does deserve 5 stars!!

This is probably the best Indian food I've had since I lived in San Diego. Every thing we ordered was delicious. The veggie appetizer had a few different selections on it and they were all good. We ordered Gill's special sauce with chicken and it comes with rice. One order was plenty for two people! We also ordered the onion and cilantro naan, mmmm so good. I actually just had dinner, but now I'm craving this. Great.

Food was OK...nothing spectacular...though considering the location it is likely quite a find. Service is VERY slow as they seem to be doing something all the time but not sure what. Worth a visit if you are in Aanacortes and hankering for Indian. Try the Gill's Curry....the shrimp prep was blah!

This place was amazing. Can't wait to go back. We ordered four dishes and ate family style. I ate seconds and thirds. Stuffed and wanted more. Did I mention I want to go back?

I'll admit that we had dinner in Anacortes out of necessity -- we missed our ferry and had to wait 3 hours for the next one -- but it turned out to be a blessing in disguise, as we ended up with one of the best Indian meals we've ever had. We ate here because of the positive Yelp reviews, and couldn't be happier that we did. We ordered the chicken-pomegranate curry and the mango-fish curry, both of which were excellent. I'm always VERY hesitant about ordering mango curries because they are too often cloyingly sweet, but this was actually quite tangy with a decent amount of spice (I ordered "5" on a 5-star spice scale) -- not overwhelmingly spicy, but it was at least noticeable. The pomegranate curry didn't taste distinctly of pomegranate, but was deliciously spicy and complex nonetheless. The curries included rice, which was a nice surprise, as too many Indian restaurants these days charge extra for it. We also ordered the kabuli naan -- I've always been partial to kabuli naans since living in Asia, but this was unfortunately bland and uninteresting, with a strangely florescent pink filling supposedly due to the "cherries" in the filling. It was a decent naan, but certainly not the best kabuli naan. The only disappointment of the meal with the SLOW service we received, despite the fact that the restaurant was barely 1/3 full. We sat for nearly 15 minutes before our order was taken. However, after placing the order, we received our fresh, hot meal within about 10 minutes. I'm actually going to plan for extra time in Anacortes during my next ferry trip so that I can eat here again -- definitely one of the best Indian meals I've had outside of Madras ;)

Great food--the paneer was fresh and the roasted potatoes in the chole had a very unique flavor. We can hardly wait to come back!

Been eating Indian food for over twenty years and have favorite restaurants in Washington DC, Sunnyvale, London. Would never have guessed that my new favorite would be in Anacortes. Ambiance is quite nice for a small out of the way restaurant. Service is exceptional. But it is about the food. Really fresh quality ingredients - sauced to perfection. Veggie sampler appetizer, naan, pratha, raita, cucumber salad, Muhrg Bartha for me - Eggplant for my wife. Good wine list. Liked it so much that we drove back up from Oak Harbor two nights later Bhindi Masala and Eggplant again.. I cannot name an Indian Restaurant that we like better anywhere. We will eat here every time we are in Anacortes.

Got food from Sher-E-Panjab on one take-out occasion. It was a chicken curry with mushrooms, spinach and I believe potato. Very flavorful and tasty. And came with free rice. Their potato naan was the perfect accompaniment. I will eat here again.

We've been coming here since it opened. AMAZING food. I love the curries. If you like hot/spicy they can make it, it's awesome. We haven't tried anything on the menu that we haven't liked.
