The basil, tomato, mozzarella sandwich was great. They used reduced balsamic and red hen bread to differentiate it but it doesn't hold a candle to my standards of this sandwich in NYC and Boston (see other reviews). The burrito had great ingredients but I don't understand the gringo tendency to make a burrito into something you need to eat with a fork and knife. 4/5 The Lost Nation Saison Lamoille and Grassroots Bliss of Absence were great pours. Doing this review mainly to record those beers. ;)

Another fantastic spot in Waterbury. Let's start by noting the Reservoir has a five star beer list that is heavily tilted toward local options. Some beer bars tend to make good food less of a priority, but I thought food at the Reservoir was pretty great as well. All the locals eating at dinner seemed to agree. I opted to sit at the bar so I can't speak to the table service. Bartenders were attentive and knowledgable. Nothing is more annoying than bartenders and servers with no knowledge of what there pouring. Not an issue here. As a side note I was pretty pumped to see that the Shed burger lives! Couldn't help ordering one after seeing an old favorite of mine on the menu. It was juicy and delicious and came with a big pile of tasty fries. I certainly will be back again!

Very impressed.... being somewhat food snobbish. Great value, lots of local ingredients. Our server (Mary F) was very genuine and happy. So refreshing to be treated like that! (She is the main reason for writting this review) To management: she does a great job on up selling too, w/ out being pushy)

This place came highly recommended. Had the Mac and Cheese as a starter and then their beef burger for the main course. Everything was amazing and service was awesome too. Will definitely come back!!

Fantastic poutine and beer! Friendly service and nice atmosphere to boot. I'd eat there again.

This place is extremely underrated in my opinion. The food is great, the staff is friendly, attentive, and knowledgeable, and the beer is awesome to say the least. The fish tacos are unbelievable for being in Vermont. French fries are delicious. Burgers, wraps, sandwiches, EVERYTHING! You can't go wrong with choosing The Reservoir whether you are just pulling off the highway for a sit-down meal, coming down off the mountain, or just pulling through on a summer day.

Probably not much else to say that hasn't already been mentioned. The beer selection is solid and representative of the area. You can get a flight which is nice for sampling local brew. Bartenders are friendly, as are the servers. We came for snacks and beer on a Sunday night. We had to wait for a table but did not stand around too long. We sat outside and enjoyed the cool weather and the brews. My two friends ordered the meatloaf, while I went with poutine and chicken fingers. Meatloaf was tasty - the way meatloaf should be (often, it's not). Poutine was huge and we all shared with enough to take back to our hotel. The chicken was drenched in a sauce with a very nice amount of heat that left our lips tingly. The main gripe we had was the wait time for our dinner - over 40 minutes. To her credit, our server was accommodating and brought us beers as we waited. Thankfully, everything was hot and the quality was very good, and so we temporarily forget about the delay as we shoveled food into our faces. Overall, Reservoir is a must-visit if in the area: even if you eat elsewhere, stop in for the beer!

Tried to go again this year and hostess was nasty on the phone. Didn't even attempt to walk in this time! Went to prohibition pig instead and had phenomenal meal with COURTEOUS service!

Great customer service and atmosphere. I had 2 appetisers instead of an entree. The five cheese mac & cheese was great! I also had the 5pc medium wings which I thought were okay. Decent size wings, but I possibly might have preferred a different sauce. I was in a big group and it was no problem to seat us all or pay on a number of different cards when splitting the bill.

Such a fun spot! Great beer selection and their tasters are a great deal. I think you get 4 for $8-10. Amazing onion rings and sweet potato fries. Their meatloaf was ok.

  • Matt T.

Food was good, and they had a really cool craft beer sampler that you pick local beers from, there were some annoying stipulations but for the most part it was pretty good. I would recommend coming for just the sampler of beer.

I had, hands down, the best veggie burger I've ever had here. Wow, it was so good. They have an amazing beer selection. They had Lawson's Sunshine IPA on tap! Unreal. That beer seriously competes with Heady Topper. This place is heaven on earth. So good.

When we stopped to ask directions to another place, a local recommended The Reservoir and we like to eat where the locals gather. Glad we couldn't find the first place. The food was great, but first a word about our server, Mary. In our travels we have met a number of friendly servers, and that always makes a meal better, but few could match Mary, who was in addition to being a very good server, is just a extremely nice person. Our table of four ordered... ...Vermont Burger-made from delicious, locally raised beef ...Burger Special-local meat prepared a little differently, but just as delicious ...Curried Chicken-as good as that in any Thai restaurant we have eaten in ...Fried Chicken-absolutely succulent chicken and raised just down the road Let us not forget the White Chocolate Bread Pudding. We almost decided against dessert. Thankfully we decided to be decadent. We have tried many different bread puddings, but this one stood out from the rest. If undecided about where to eat in Waterbury, go to The Reservoir and ask for Mary to be your server.

Like other beer fans, we came here for the amazing selection. As soon as we got here, the hostess seated us in an upper area, completely away from everyone else. We joked that she knew we were tourists. I am hoping we were seated there b/c we looked like a couple who wanted a quiet spot to enjoy dinner. The beer list here is amazing. My husband got Edward, a beer from Hill Farmstead Brewery. I got a flight of Vermont beers. For dinner, I got the veggie burger. I normally do not get vegetarian fare, but needed a break from hamburgers and other "heavy" foods I had been eating on our VT trip. This was an amazing veggie burger though; it had a bit of a "kick" to to it too. My husband got a cold meatloaf sandwich. I tried a bite of it and it was delicious. Our server, Mary, was also very sweet and patient with us. Our total bill was $30 (pre-tip). Honestly, this place was amazing. It has an amazing beer selection AND delectable food----top notch in my book.

My husband and I eat here regularly. I love their poutine fries. We enjoy trying the specials they have. They usually have a different type of burger each week and my husband loves that. We usually get great service and we enjoying going here.

Based on other reviews, I'm not sure what happened when my friends and I walked into this place, but it was not good. We just wanted to have a couple beers and watch the Red Sox game and were immediately shut down (and we're a pretty low-key bunch). Although it was fairly empty (Sunday evening), they refused to bring two tables together so the six of us could sit together, and as soon as we inquired about tuning one of the TVs to the Sox game, the manager waved her hand and said "Oh no no no no!" WTF? This is Vermont...the heart of Red Sox territory, and it was the ESPN game of the week! (The hostess apologetically told us the manager is a Yankees fan, but so what?) Anyway, we quickly departed for the bar next door, where they treated us far more hospitably. Just awful, unfriendly, almost hostile service.

hands down, BEST french onion soup EVER. great vibe, cute/friendly staff, great portion size for the $$ and awesome selection of local and imported beers. can't wait to go back-sooo worth the hour drive :)

Stopped by for late lunch/early dinner after snowboarding and here's my first impression. Chili - Decent, ive had better Burger - Amazing & juicy, awesome touch with the jalapenos It was super filling to share. I will come back for the burger and try out their beers next time, but overall nothing special.

Great Beer, decent food, spotty service. We went to the reservoir on Presidents weekend and it was quite busy, though not 100% full. They have a great microbrew list with many choices and the beer is the best thing about this pub. The food is decent, although I would stick to the burgers and avoid the entrees. Problem was the service? Almost an hour to get a burger and fish and chips to the table? Here are some basics to service in ANY eating establishment...(1) After the party is seated come over and bring menus and take drink orders..check. (2) Deliver the food in a timely manner - fail. (3) IF food is taking a long time the server should stop back at the table and let the group know when its expected.. fail. (3) Bring the appetizers out first, not together with the meal - FAIL. (4) Check back with the table after the food is brought (FAIL). If you're constantly trying to find your server to order, to ask when the food will come, if your drinks run empty, if you are sitting with dirty dishes for 15 min after you're done eating, then that is a serious gap in service. I might eat here again on a weeknight, but never when its very busy. Finally, if you don't like eating dinner on a barstool, then find another restaurant.

Fantastic selection of beer from around the world including some incredible brews from right here in Vermont. The food is also very good. I love the boneless chicken tenders, particularly with teriyaki sauce and blue cheese and ranch dressings, and the chicken wings are also very good! This is a great all around bar if you like good food and beer. Friendly Staff.

Love, love, love the Rez! We've been coming here for years and it has never let us down. We've brought friends and family along at times too, and they also rave. It's not a touristy place at all, and has good locally sourced food without the expensive faux gourmand vibe you get elsewhere in town. We have our favorites ... The excellent lamb burger, fish tacos and the meatloaf come to mind first. In fact, the lamb burger and fish tacos are our go-to entrees whenever we first roll into town ... It's like coming home. Live band nights can be really loud in the small front dining area, so check the website for schedules if that isn't what you are looking for.

We always go to The Reservoir when we are in Waterbury which is a few times a year. Only positive comments for this place. First of all, the draft list is generally excellent with something for everyone. They focus on Vermont brewed beers. But have others as well. I like the printed out beer list which gives information including the alcohol content, the type of beer and the rating from the Beer Advocate. The food is very good. We have never been disappointed. The soup is great and the salads are good, too. My husband enjoys the burgers.

I loved this place and would definitely come back. We say in the pub area, with TVs and pool tables, to watch the football games, and had great service by the bartender/waitresses there. Very friendly and prompt, and they remembered to bring me water when I asked for it! They apparently have the largest tap selection in Vermont- and they do certainly have a lot, most of which are local craft beers. They offer a sampler of any 4 Vermont Beers (I love samplers, so this is a HUGE plus, AND I loved that they limited it to VT beers to encourage people to try them!.) I had (my four samplers and a taste of a pint: (in order of fave to least fave) Hill Farmstead Twilight of idols. delicious vanilla porter Harpoon Vermont Spruce Tip Ale: funky and good, tastes like a Christmas tree Lawson's Finest Red Spruce Bitter. smooth and deliciously drinkable Long Trail Truck Driver- malty, roasted, a little plain Otter Creek Alpine Black- too black for me For food, we had the Poutine- which is by far the best poutine I've ever had in the States. The cheese curds were real cheese curds, just like I love from Wisconsin, not the crumbly curds I've often seen on poutine. And the fries and gravy were delish as well. Cost was cheap, food and drink selection and quality were amazing, service great. Can't go wrong here!

  • Tom M.

The beer selection was tremendous and the food was as well. We stopped in for lunch on the way to Stowe. We ordered the Poutine as an appetizer and it was great. The cheese was fresh and the gravy was very flavorful. My wife had the lamb burger and I had the fire house burger and they were both cooked exactly as order. The service was good but laid back which goes very well with the overall atmosphere.

The Reservoir looks like an ordinary bar from the outside- and when you walk in it, it still looks like an ordinary bar. But when you open the menu, and read about the twists on traditional bar food, and the focus on quality ingredients and local farmers and breweries, and then you taste and smell the delicious aroma when your dish comes out (poutine, truffle fries, mac & cheese, giant burger)- you know you are in an extraordinary bar. Even after stuffing yourself with way too much ice cream at the Ben & Jerry's factory, and feeling so full you couldn't possibly eat another bite, you somehow clean your plate because it's that good. PS- Don't miss the pool table and games in the back!

The burgers are great and of course the beers too. FYI the onion rings are more onion straws.

Love this place and look forward to my annual trip to Stowe especially for The Reservoir. The first time I visited, we chose The Reservoir on the likely chance there would be TVs playing sports. I was then forced to spend 6 hours here due to life or death football games. While my husband sat anxiously in his seat watching the game, my love for this pub grew more with every beer and order of food. Beer: Great rotating selection of craft beers. I like how they note the local beers and that you can get a sampler. Food: Wow, the food was fantastic! I have been dreaming about the Rezetarian burger and have tried unsuccessfully to recreate it many times. This is what all pub food should be like. I love that it's still a laid back pub that can be a sports bar and still serve wonderful beer & food. I can't wait for my visit this weekend!

On our way to the Ben & Jerry's Factory Tour. We stopped by here and we found the service amazing. There is a popcorn machine. They're potuine and 5 cheese Mac and cheese is amazing. Just a great place in general.

We didn't feel like waiting for an hour to get a table at the highly recommended Prohibition Pig so we decided to go to a couple of doors down to The Reservoir. At first it seemed a little too quiet compared to Prohibition. It turned out to be a great choice. Had the Trapp beer on tap, Washabi Mussels and the Flat Iron Steak. All were excellent. Highly recommend it.

We ate here after a very tundra-like snowboarding day at Stowe and sadly it was just OK. The chili didn't melt away our hunger, the burgers didn't foodgasm anywhere, and the wings didn't rock our socks - the food was OK in comparison to all the "OMG" places we've tried in Stowe. The Reservoir is your regular pub fare... no extra sprinkles on top. Perhaps we should have tried The Alchemist which was a few doors down. Oh wells, next time!

Seems like a downtown Waterbury staple. This place had a great bar menu and some pretty solid food. I liked the beer sampler, 6 dollars for 4 5oz samples of local beer. Not too bad in my opinion. I liked the vibe and the people were super friendly.

  • Mike T.

Quite a few indoor tables, some outdoor tables, a short bar and a long bar make up the lay-out of The Reservoir. On the walls, there are various decorations, with some nods to the local ski culture. Waitstaff was friendly and did their best to keep up on a busy night. The beer was very good, with some interesting European beer like Mikkeller, quite a bit of VT brews and more offering from other parts of the U.S. Food was decent, pub grub for the most part. Some other choices like lamb, pulled pork, others were also available. Could take a decent sized group here or a family, but as the night wears on, crowd seems to get a bit rowdier (not a big surprise).

Great place for beer lovers. Went in on a weeknight for dinner and some beers. Sat at the bar in the back and had a great time. Only ate some chicken wings which were great, but the menu looked amazing and all of the food I saw being brought out looked top notch. While the food was great this place is all about the beer. Any vermont graft beer you can think of including the hard to find Lawson's finest. Very friendly staff and you will always find other beer geeks to chat with. Will definitely be back.

The Reservoir is my go o restaurant in Waterbury. My wife and I have yet to be disappointed. The Res has (I think) the largest draft beer selection in the entire state, many of these beers are from Vermont. They always have something from Hill Farmstead, Lawson's Finest Liquids and The Alchemist Heady Topper available(can only), as well as many other goodies for all of your beer geek needs. This is a great place to watch a football game, or just to go and meet up with friends to have a drink. The food is good, not reinventing the wheel here, but definately great food for a production kitchen. The burgers are usually my go to, but the fish tacos are consistent and tasty. They have great wings, french fries and salads, my wife loves the spinach salad with there balsalmic vinaigrette and chicken. If you are feeling adventurous try the Truck Driver burger, 1 lb of beef stuffed with blue cheese, and with what feels like another lb of bacon on top. This thing is massive. I tried once and ate 3/4 of it. Then i went home and hibernated. Great food, great beer and good service are what this place is all about. Its really nice to have this place just a short walk from my house, i know what im getting every time, and it does not bust the budget either. Definately worth a try if you're in the neighborhood.

Just got back from dinner with my family. I have mixed feelings about this place. The food was good. I had the firehouse burger and it was terrific. My wife and daughter split a Caesar salad and pulled pork sandwich. The puuled pork was good. It was sweet, but not overbearingly sweet. The Caesar salad was the typical you will find anywhere - typically too much dressing. My son had a steak burrito with no steak to speak of. We were seated at 635 pm and ordered by 645. We didn't get our food until 730 pm. I don't know about you, but that is a LONG time for these type if dishes. But what I notice was the orders were coming out in the same order as we were seated. Does that mean the kitchen could only work on one table's order at a time? And if it is going to take that long, at least get the order correct. My son ordered a burrito with no beans. Guess what came with it? We would have normally asked (politely of course) if they could fix the order, but we didn't want to wait until tomorrow to get our food. So, I would give the food a four star, but a one star for timeliness on getting your food. That is why I have to give it a three star rating. It just took too long to get our food.

Awesome beer selection. Always rotating the taps, ~40 beers including some really, really sought after selections from both local and distant breweries. Burgers are good, and poutine and wings are personal favorites. Sometimes good music. Definitely a favorite spot in Waterbury- which has several good options for food and drink. Great for apres ski in the MRV. Definitely worth a stop in, especially if you like awesome beer.

Very crowded on holiday weekend but have amazing salads and sandwiches. The produce is extremely fresh and I highly recommend the beet salad. Although noted for their extensive beer list, the wines are good although the selection a bit limited. We tried to go the second evening but their was a 30 minute wait and the bar area over crowded. An excellent choice if you do not come at peak times.

A quick stop in here from a trip to Stowe and I was pleasantly surprised. This is a casual place, the inside is dark, casual and definitely has the air of a locals spot when the sun goes down. We had dinner here and ate out on the deck--the weather was pleasant so the atmosphere was nice. The first thing that struck me, as it usually does, was the beer menu. This menu, if it were to stand alone, gets 5 stars--they have something like 100 available beers. Many of which are local, but the list is dominated by craft breweries. This is a great spot to sit outside and try some new beers. Feeling nostalgic I got a heady topper and silently mourned the missing Alchemists that used to be right down the street. The food here was pretty good. Considering this is not fine dining and is a casual spot I would actually say the food above the quality I expected. I had the pulled pork sandwich which was nice and tender and juicing. They didn't mask the flavor with BBQ sauce either, which I thought was a good move. My girlfriend and her mother both got the turkey burger on gluten free buns, and they raved about this sandwich--I would wager a guess this is a hot seller here. My girlfriends father got a steak and this looked a bit undercooked from what he ordered, and was served on a delectable bed of fries--kind of a low class move for a steak in my opinion, but then again I don't order stark out unless it is a fine dining situation. Over all this was a nice place to stop. The service was quick and pleasant and the food was good for what they do. I recommend this place if you are passing through the Waterbury area.

You don't have too many options of bars in this area of town, but The Reservoir has pretty cheap prices, live bands every now and then it seems, and flat screen tvs... So ya, it is a pretty typical bar, nothing special here, but the live band, although there were not too many people watching the band, were okay. And we had enough of their strong drinks in our system that we were dancing like no one was watching if you know what i mean!! Plus they actually carried a pumpkin beer that tasted like pumpkin!! Nothing like a good pumpkin beer when you take a trip up to Vermont to find your newly found passion for fall!! There were a couple of older people here too, and you could tell that they were friends with the bar tenders and were definitely regulars here, then again there are not too many bars to choose from in this area, so I would probably be a regular too! And they run their heater freely here. It is COLD in Vermont, so on top of their strong drinks, their heater is always running too! We didn't get a chance to try any of their food, but I gotta say for a bar menu, some of the things on that menu since I stole one to glance at while I was dancing around, looked pretty good!

Great food! Boyfriend and I had 2 different burgers and they both came out awesome. Well-cooked, albeit so big it was kind of hard to eat. I had to eat mine with a knife & fork. I would definitely come back again if I were in the area, especially for the poutine and mac & cheese. Prices were very reasonable for the fresh, well-prepared food we got (granted, we're used to NYC prices).

I was in the bar/pub area in the back so I can't speak about how the restaurant is, but certainly enjoyed the bar. They advertise they have the largest tap selection in Vermont and I can say I haven't found a place with more taps yet. They had a mix of macro, micro and local beers available so pretty much anyone can find something they like. The prices were also pretty cheap which was a nice touch. They also offered a beer sampler option, but only included the local Vermont beers. The bar area had a good amount of stools at the bar, some high top tables, a couch, bar rail and a pool table. So there are plenty of places to enjoy a beer. They also have a slew of TVs setup with all the usual sporting events available and even play the sound from the game. So this is definitely a good place to watch a game. The food selection was also pretty good. They had a lot of interesting options for the appetizers. I especially enjoyed the poutine. They used real cheese curds and a good amount of gravy. Its a very good unhealthy bar snack. The staff were friendly and did a good job serving people even when its very busy. A very good place to enjoy a beer and appetizer.

Been here four times now with a relative, and I've been plesantly suprised with the place. The location has changed owners several times, and this newest incarnation of an eatery is certainly winning me over. The menu is small but good, and there's a lot of local favorites on the list. There's a full bar, several TV around the room(s) display whatever sports games happen to be playing, and the atmosphere is casual and friendly, if not spartan. The food is good, reminds me of the kind of food you think of in a Tavern. Indeed, that's kinda what this place is. The quality is pretty good but not terribly consistant, once or twice I've had to bring up a minor issue with the server (ie wrong toppings or something was overcooked), but it's still not enough to dim my opinion of this place. Parking is kinda tricky though, techinally they don't have a parking lot, so you either need to find a space on the street (which is impossible) or you need to cheat and use someone else's, like the bank or a nearby resturant's. All in all, a good place to have a casual sit-down meal with a friend or two.

I've now been here three times and I can say that it has become one of my favorites in the Waterbury area. Wings are top-notch as far as I'm concerned - I've only had the Terriyaki style wings. The french fries are as good as any I've had around here and the french fries in this region of Vermont are the best I've had anywhere. They have a "hummus of the day" and if you ever happen to be there when they have the chipotle-lime hummus, order it, and give me a call. I'll be there as quick as I can. It is the best hummus EVER. We went this morning for brunch, and we got a hearty, delcious breakfast. The sausage and bacon are locally made, and are paired with local eggs and bread. Each breakfast comes with plenty of toast and fresh fruit. Good food, good beer, a bunch of big TVs for watching the game on. Well worth a stop when in the Waterbury area.

Great beer list, delicious food, good service! We stopped in late on a weeknight, exhausted and hungry. Our drinks (again, the draught beer menu is full of local and other domestic stars) were ordered and brought promptly. My husband complained that the beer was served in a 14oz mason jar, not a 16oz pint glass. The poutine was fantastic- deliciously melted curds and a great homemade gravy over fantastic fries. He got a burger- rare as he ordered!- with fries, I got the pulled pork with sweet potato fries. The sandwich was good, but the fries were better. We left stuffed and happy. Nice job!

I've eaten here twice and both times were home runs. The first time I had a burger and fries. They were perfect. The table shared an order of cheese fries with truffle oil. Those were incredible. The second time I had a chipotle chicken sandwich. Now, I typically think the chicken sandwich on a menu is boring and safe. Not here. They served a freshly hand breaded, fried-to-order HUGE chicken breast on a bun with cheese and chipotle sauce with fries as a side. I was blown away! The sandwich was fresh, juicy and full of flavor. I will be going back and getting another one. The beer selection is second only to Three Penny Taproom in Montpelier in the area. They have a dining room and a bar area so you can either go to watch a game or have a sit down dinner.

I came here expecting Sunday brunch only to be disappointed by the fact that they had changed their menu earlier this week and took it out completely. Lunch options were limited to burgers and sandwiches, all of which are priced around $10. I tried the wild game burger, which featured venison today. The patty was sizable and relatively moist for venison. It didn't taste too gamey and I liked the toasted bun that it came with. The fries were a bit over salted. I also tried the fried Atlantic haddock fish tacos, which were new on their menu. It was surprisingly good for tacos in New England; it is a better deal if you add on an extra taco for $3 more. The Reservoir has an atmosphere more fitting for a bar so I can see why brunch was eliminated, but it would be a great attraction for Sunday mornings to draw additional patrons to an empty restaurant.

I can't believe that this place turned out to be my favorite restaurant on the whole trip. If you like veggie burgers and try theirs, you'll never enjoy another. This is one of those rare places that actually try to have a flavorful veggie burger, and they definitely succeed. The atmosphere is a typical sports bar scene, and they have a great variety of beers. If you enjoy good food, (probably good beer,) and good people, give The Reservoir a try.

Service was great, food was very good. Oysters were fresh, steak was delicious. The selection of beers was very good, they let you select what beers to try in a flight. The atmosphere is very social, not cozy. You definitely feel like you are eating in the bar, and part of the action. This is not a quiet, romantic destination!

Fantastic service and great beer selection. I had some sort of sour cherry beer, which was good, but after that I tried a clementine beer and that was heavenly. We had the poutine app - amazing - followed by a cheddar flatiron steak that was cooked perfectly and very rich and sat atop a heap of fries. Given that I'd wolfed down the poutine, the steak and fries meal with a heavy sauce atop it was a bit repetitive and I probably would have been happier with something else. My husband had a ribeye and he said it was good but a bit underseasoned. All in all a fantastic dinner and I would definitely recommend - the poutine alone was worth the trip:)

Aside from the outstanding pub atmosphere and out-of-this-world beer selection, The Reservoir might just serve the best burgers in the state. Truly, go get a burger and some fries here, wash it down with something from Hill Farmstead Brewery and dare yourself to disagree.

My friends and I were headed to The Alchemist for lunch when we realized that they opened at 3. Not knowing where else to go, we came upon The Reservoir which was a last minute choice. It was quite empty for a Friday afternoon but we were able to sit on the patio. We started off with the Vermont Maple Sweet Potato Fries. I really enjoyed the fries. Thickly cut and you could taste the potato, which is key. The maple sugar gave it an additional kick of sweetness which I thought was a nice touch. I was tempted to get the Truck Driver burger but realized I didn't have the stomach for a 1lb burger that day. I decided to go "wild" and asked what the game burger of the day was. It was elk and of course I had to get it. I asked for medium and it came out close to well done. Not a problem for me. The meat was tasty, lean and slightly gamey. I am very proud to say I had an elk burger. :) My friends enjoyed their lunches which included a beet salad that my friend liked a lot, a burrito, and a byob. I didn't have any beer because I'm not a fan of it but my friend got the blackberry beer. It was pretty good from what I sampled. The hostess/server was friendly as well as our waiter. He came around and checked in when necessary. The prices were decent and overall, I had a good lunch there. If I were to go back, I would definitely give this restaurant another visit.

Tables in the front, bar in the back. Decor a little dated. Had a good tap list - had a Jack's Abby and a Founders. Bartenders were very friendly. Didn't eat anything but the menu looks appetizing. Would recommend.

First time to Vermont, and this was my first official Vermont meal... It was very good- a tasty burger and decent Mac n' cheese. But the best part? Their craft beer selection is outstanding. Bravo.

Best bar in Waterbury!!! Great bar food. Friendly bartenders. Lots of TV's with every NFL game. Popcorn machine, pool table, video games, good tunes. This is really the perfect place to unwind and grab a beer (or five) and a bite after work. Also, 37 beers on tap!!!!!!!!!!!! :) Easily the best beer selection in all of Vermont. Front room is a bit more of an upscale restaurant with a diverse and very good menu. If you leave at night and drive south on Rt. 100 be careful as a Waterbury cop is ALWAYS sitting around the Waterbury Service Center waiting to give you a speeding ticket.

This place was great. The beer selection alone is worth going for. 38 beers on tap and more in bottles. They also try to carry as many local beers as possibly, which is great. The food was also fantastic for the price. I had the fish tacos, my gf had a burger and we shared the hummus plate and poutine and everything was great. The hummus was made in house i guess and was delicious. Food wasnt greasy, the side salad was tasty and the rice and beans perfectly cooked. Great place. Inviting atmosphere. Will def go again!

Great great great wings. The rest I've had can be a bit hit or miss, but mostly pretty good. Crazy good beer selection. Can be a bit loud at times and the wait staff can be great or slow depending on the person/day, but overall it's a spot I suggest over and over again.

We sat outside which was pleasant. The beer selection is spectaluar and I had a white wine. We waited for an unforunate amout of time for our food - we were comped drinks which was very nice. The waitress was rather rude and made some comments that were not appropriate for serving the public.

We ate here after my daughter's hockey game at the Waterbury Rink. We were looking for a place that was comfortable, had good local food, good ambiance, not loud, and not so crowded we'd have to wait for a table, had food my kids would eat, and good beers. The Reservoir fit the bill perfectly. I had a turkey burger that was super tasty albeit v. large. The onion was sliced pefectly thin. Kids choices were acceptable. Hubby's chili was great. Portions are large. My fries were perfect. My kids fries looked and tasted like they had an extra "refresh" dip in the fryer. Oh, the waitress was great. Spunky and friendly. Helpful. And she looked my kids in the eye. That's always a good sign. I liked that the "restaurant" was separate from the bar side, esp given that I came w/my kids. We'll definitely be back.

I eat here probobly 3 times a month. Great food, great specials and a huge beer selection. Truck driver burger is giant, who would have though a fried egg on a burger made so much sense.

The atmosphere and the beer selection are the two good points that would make me want to give them a better rating. But their food was so meh. I hear it's better than when it was WW--that makes me glad I never ate there then. We ordered 3 appetizers: maple sweet potato fries, the beet salad and the bean dip. The bean dip was barely warm and so thick, it was really unappetizing. The fries looked factory-made and tasted like fake maple flavoring. The salad was delicious--candied walnuts (or pecans?) were a nice touch. In terms of entrees, there were 7 of us dining that night. The 3 of us who ordered the burrito fared the best. It was delicious, though not authentic. The chicken sandwich looked fine. My husband said his burger was one of the worst he's had in the state and the fish tacos looked like a cat threw up on the plate. My friend who ordered them didn't even finish one of them. Someone ordered the Thai-flavored veggie burger--she said the flavor was great but there was no texture. And when she asked for a side of the peanut sauce that came with it, it looked like she received a big ramekin full of straight-up peanut butter it was so thick. But the atmosphere is great, the beer selection stellar, and it has a patio, which is fabulous. We went again this past weekend for drinks and live music and the vibe was great. I'd go back again, but the food really needs some help!

We were camping in the area and decided to stop in here for dinner on a busy Friday night. Top-notch beer list and the food is great too! Had a small wait for a table but passed the time by sampling some of the world-class beers at the bar in the back.

In the Waterbury taprooms we went to after our section hike of the LT, this is the one with the best tap and bottle list we encountered. Not to mention that the food is pretty up there for American comfort food as well. This is one of the few places in Vermont that I was able to find Hill Farmstead Abner on tap. Even the day before when I was at the brewery the day before, they didn't have Abner, so it was a pleasant surprise to find it on tap here. The patio seating on a Summer or Fall day cannot be beat, even though the seating is limited. You can toss back an Abner, have a burger, and plan the rest of your week on the LT or just enjoying your time in the area. We'll be back next time we tackle the LT and pass through Waterbury/Stowe.

Came here on our way back home after a day on the bike path in Stowe. Wanted to go to Prohibition Pig, but the wait was too long. Got a table here after just a few minutes' wait at the bar. Fantastic, and I do mean fantastic, selection of Vermont beers on tap, including several offerings from Hill Farmstead and Lawsons. Friendly, if overstretched, service, resulted in 2nd round of drinks being rather delayed, but it's hard to fault the waitress for what is clearly an understaffing issue. Food was solid for a bar -- wide selection of burgers and sandwiches, everything was tasty but not mind-blowing -- which you have to think is exactly what they're going for.

I was staying in the area for the Mad Marathon. I came here to check it out based on the recommendation of a Waterbury resident. I enjoyed the beers and burger on Saturday that I came back here on Sunday after running the marathon. I sat at the bar on both days. The bartenders were all great. There was even live music on Sunday. They have great burgers and a pretty big beer selection. *Simple Roots Pale Ale* The bartender suggested this beer. It was a local Burlington brew from a brewery that was run out of a garage. Not bad! *Alchemist Heady Topper* I've heard nothing but great things and praises about this beer. It comes in a can and it was as good as it's been touted. I'm not a big fan of IPA's, but this double IPA might change my mind. It helps to drink one of the best! *Alchemist Focal Banger* While the Heady Topper is the must-drink beer while in Vermont, the Focal Banger shouldn't be overlooked! While not as strong as the Heady Topper, this was a good IPA. Again, I'm not a big fan of IPA's, but I feel that's because I have been drinking some bad ones back home. *1/2 lb Vermont Burger with pepper jack cheese* This was a very good tasty juicy burger with simple ingredients, leaf lettuce and onion. I added the pepper jack cheese. Easily one of the best burgers that I've eaten. It came with fries and a pickle. *Firehouse Burger* This was a hearty burger with fried jalapeños & pickles, sweet chili mayo, bacon, Cabot pepper jack, and arugula. It had a little kick to it, but wasn't too spicy. Another good burger! I would not hesitate to come here again if I'm ever in the Waterbury area! I would like to check out the rest of their menu.

My full heart is and will always be with The Rez. I promise I am not related to or affiliated with the restaurant, though it is like my own personal Cheers! Everyone knows my name or calls me RockStar lol This past visit was as insanely good as every other time has been- I got lucky and caught them during the very short Fiddlehead's season!!!!!!!!!!!

My fiance and I ate here twice during a 3-day visit, we couldn't stop going back. I was pleasantly blown away by the personable and attentive service, AMAZING beer selection (Hill Farmstead, Heady, Lawson's), and delicious food- I mean even the side salad was memorable. I also appreciated that they had varying levels of flights (premium/non-premium) as we had a lot of beer to try and I wouldn't get through it all drinking straight pints/glass portions. They have a cool outdoor section as well, with live music on Sundays and full-size Jenga. Can't wait to visit again!

Here are some of the reasons I really like The Reservoir: 1) The Poutine appetizer is a pile of French fries on top of a delicious pool of gravy and is then topped with big gooey wads of cheese curds. Yum! 2) The spaghetti squash entree looks like a plate full of pesto laden spaghetti. It is full of flavor with pine nuts, fresh feta and roasted tomatoes. It is so good you won't know or even care that it's a vegetarian dish. 3) The beer menu has a whole page of "big bottles", and you can get a flight of Vermont craft ales. 4) Our server was great! Dave was attentive and friendly but never got in our way. 5) The restaurant is just minutes away from the Ben & Jerry's factory, which makes it a great stop for dinner before taking tour of ice cream bliss. So much fun! So glad we went here!!

AMAZING. We went here last night after arriving (starving) at our hotel. We had a short wait and decided on grabbing a drink at the bar. The bartender explained all of the Vermont beers on tap and how you can get a sampler of Vermont beers--awesome! We were then seated by the hostess. I immediately decided on the "rezetarian burger" with a side of poutine. Our food came out promptly by the very polite food runner. I can't even explain to you how amazing this was. I'm hoping it wasn't just because I was starving, either. This burger was like a flavor explosion in my mouth. It was a white bean, basmati rice, tofu veggie patty that was soft and moist, but crisp on the edges. The fries were sensational as well--crispy with hot gravy and savory cheese curds. My boyfriend had the chicken burrito and it was HUGE and came with a delicious hot sauce. Our server was nice, but she seemed very uninterested in her job...I didn't care because our food was so amazing.

The Reservoir, The Rez, The Rezilooski, yeah! I mean, come on! It's really all about the beer, isn't it? The Food is good enough, sure. The waitstaff seem a bit over worked but hey, they are there for ya! Bottom line is you get what you pay for, at the Rez. It has a local Vibe & sometimes they even have local artists to sing you some Songs. Did I mention the beer menu? Never mind, you didn't come to Vermont for its beer. Where was I? Oh yeah! This is where we usually end up, in town. It's real

Always the pinnacle of local fresh food. we enjoy every dish know if it supports local farms. The chicken fingers are the best ever. Local pulled pork, all tasty. It's still five stars although they got rid of my favorite slaw to put on my pulled pork and the onion strings. Seriously, go there. It's worth every penny.

You know how sometimes you watch food Porn reality tv shows all slack jawed & drooling on the couch? Now imagine you could stand up & step through the TV & just bathe in it.. That is how it feels to eat here. They have over 17 beers on tap rated above a 90 on beer advocate. That's just the tap. My girlfriend called dibs on the Misty Knoll Farm Fried Chicken Garlic Mashed Potatoes, Shed Mountain Ale Gravy, Biscuit, Coleslaw. This may have driven an irreparable wedge in our relationship. Until I tried the Flat Iron Steak & Shrimp . Then we kissed & made up.

Really, REALLY tasty. We weren't sure what to expect but the menu posted outside looked promising so we have it a shot and were glad we did. Beer menu gets two BIG thumbs up - very diverse selection of brews. For dinner, hubby had the mac and cheese (which was the best we've ever tried) and sliders on special. I had the firehouse burger which was creative and flavorful. The service was friendly and prompt and the decor was rustic and casual - more along the lines of upscale bar but it was still family-friendly. Highly recommend if you are looking for dinner or drinks!

I was surprised to find a place like this in small town Waterbury but it was recommended to us by a local. A nice dive bar feeling with a great beer list. I tried the Trapp Family Lodge Oktoberfest. Fell so in love with this beer but heartbroken when I found out the brewery doesn't bottle it. I had the lamb burger with that resembled a gyro. It was fantastic. The downside to our meal was when our desserts were brought out. We ordered the bread pudding which was great but we had another dessert that was like crepes with nutella in it. We found massive chunks of foil paper from the nutella jar inside the crepe. Management came over and profusely apologized for it. They handled the situation very well. As I mentioned what really stuck out to me was their local beer selection on the menu. They had such a wide variety to choose from you can't go wrong.

Restaurant open on Friday at 3 P.M., but don't expect to get dinner entrees before 5. Had the meatloaf dinner. Meal was only Luke warm and was not to my liking. Had some sharp spice (like basil) or something like that. Did not care for the taste. Garlic potatoes with skins mashed were OK. Seasonal vegetable was Kale. AWFUL. Only positive was a good margarita made with Patron.

A great place for a midday lunch as there is seating outside. The menu only offers flights of VT beers, which is slightly confusing. Still, the draft list was incredible and I ordered a Hill Farmstead Walden, a hoppy blonde ale. For starters, the poutine was very good, although I do recommend getting an egg on it. The Smoked Salmon PLT well made, although I recommend an upgrade to creamy mac n' cheese or thin and light onion rings. The service was impeccable. The space was quite large.

Excellent beer selection from near (VT) and afar paired with excellent food. Service was pretty horrible this eve. Our waitress had a stiff, poor attitude from the start. Drink order of a pint of Oxbow FPA came as a snifter...? Food came out in what seemed like a lifetime (30-40minutes). For such excellent offerings (food, beverage and atmosphere) I hope this is not the norm for service. I will update my review when I venture forth again!

Dropped in on a Saturday night right in the middle of the dinner rush. Seemed really popular with the locals. Good beer selection. They let you build your own flights, which is pretty cool. Only stayed for one round because of dinner rush. Friendly staff.

This bar has been a long running establishment in the Waterbury Village under many different owners/names. The Reservoir the most recent resurrection, and worst. Customer service doesn't exist here. You are treated as though you are priviledged to get their attention aand they apparently are so sucessful they can pick and choose whose money they want to take. Beer is not served at the proper temperature or carbonation and I am yet to taste a beer on draft that does not have an off note due to dirty beer lines or left over cleaning residue. They should push their food and forget touting themselves as a beer destination with 30+taps. Use your consumer power and spend your dollars at better run establishments in the area that serve beer properly and treat their customers with respect. I am a sensory professional in the area and entertain guests for the company that I work at as do many of coworkers. I always make sure to dissuade them from this place and go to the other surrounding businesses. This place is just terrible at how it treats people. Two examples and trust me there are so many more: Family of 12 show up and wanted to have two tables pushed together. Nope they couldn't do that, and no they couldn't bother to deliver that message curteously they were arrogant and rude. No biggie, Arvads next door got our $400 for dinner. Group of 6, well dressed professionals, come out to the deck to have drinks and are rudely chased down before we can sit by a sloppily put together waitress shreiking at us inquiring as to whether we were going to have food? To which we said possibly, we are having a casual business meeting and would like to order a drink. To which we were chatised with some rule that you had to order food to sit on their deck. As we were leaving she went over to accost two businessmen about them ordering food and that they had to in order to sit on the deck. They looked taken aback and I saw them leave shortly after from where I took my collegues to the Blackback which got our $200bar tab that night, I hope that waitress made a killing on the food she slung on that deck. While patronizing businesses I often encounter customers that tried to go there but were so put of by the service they left and went elsewhere. I love sharing my experiences with them about how awful the place is. This is no special place, generally has sleazy, creepy regulars taking up all the bar seats and smoking in front of the building, it's not like its some swank joint you should feel honored to make the guest list of. I know that I'm just one person, but I will consistently share my disapointment and poor experiences at this establishment. Anyone who asks doesn't get a reccomendation from me to go there and when I hear people are I encourage them to elsewhere. My work group is close we go out frequently a good group of 10-12 people. Our tabs are high, we bring in business and people to the area businesses. Their gain the Reservoirs loss.

Really bummed by our experience here. Staff was nice enough, but the food took almost an hour to get to us and the place was not busy at all (Saturday afternoon). Once the food did arrive the burgers were good sized and cooked well, but the fries (especially the side of truffle fries) were not very good. Of course, we were spoiled by the truffle fries we had recently at the Worthy Kitchen in Woodstock, VT so that might play into it. Good selection of beers.

One of my favorite restaurants in Waterbury ....Great casual & friendly atmosphere. Wait staff provides great service and delightful chatter, food all well prepared with well tuned balance of flavors using high quality ingredients. Fantastic rolling beer list with all the top rated local brews from Farm Hillstead, Lawsons, Zero Gravity, 14 Star, .... etc Favorites gotta try... Buddha Wings (peanut thai like sauce), Truffle Fries, Fish Tacos and many great options for Burgers with some flare.... and not to miss their Chicken Curry (lost of words to explain perfect flavor combo - If allowed, I would order a bowl of the curry sauce and mop it on everything - so good you gotta keep going back for it!).

The Reservoir is 1/3 of the reason why I wished I live in Waterbury. If their amazing beer selection (including the VT trifecta of Alchemist, Hill Farmstead, and Lawson's Finest Liquids on tap) isn't enough to chide you over, the fact that all the ingredients used in this establishment are fresh and bought locally from farmers and merchants in the Green Mountain State should be able to assuage any non-beer enthusiast to this restaurant as well. I ordered the Shed Burger and asked my server how else I could make my burger a little more Vermontoise. She then pointed out that despite the fact that they have a burger named the 1/2lb Vermont Burger, the Shed Burger is probably as VT as it gets: The beef is from grass-fed Vermont-raised cows, which is flavored with Shed Brewing Company's Mountain Ale; sitting atop the beef patty is molten cheddar cheese from Cabot Creamery down the street; the leaf lettuce, onion, and pickles are all local-farm produced and picked; the English Muffin was apparently the way this burger was originally served by the chef at Shed Brewing Co.'s Brewpub (also made locally); and to top it off, she told me I could even go a step further and add Vermont Smoke & Cure Bacon for good measure. I am proud to say that I have tasted Vermont at the Reservoir and it is delicious. The slogan on their website says it all -- Fresh Eats, Craft Beer. If eating an affordable world-class meal paired with some of the best brews America has to offer is your thing, then the Reservoir will definitely not disappoint. If good food and good beer isn't quite your thing, then you might as well go jump off a cliff because it appears that you hate life.

Three Stars for the Food, and the Fourth Star for the Beer Selection and Pool Table. In order from best dish to mediocre dish; 1. the Scallop Appetizer with rutabaga and prosciutto au gratin, pomegranate reduction, and crispy leeks. Amazing combination of flavors. Well done. 2. Seared Duck Breast was delicious, cooked to perfection, and a nice portion of food. 3. Beer Steamed PEI Mussels were okay, I was hoping for more, but acceptable for the middle of VT, 4. Stowe Burger was nothing special. The Beer on the other hand,... oh the beer! What a terrific selection. Extra Credit: Pool table in the back. Yea!

Tons of beers on tap, a lot of them are local to Vermont. Food is always good as well. Went in with my dad last night and we shared the flat iron steak, buffalo wings, and honey jerk wings. Steak was done right and delicious and so were the wings. As far as the beer goes they also do a $7 Vermont beer sampler which gives you four five ounce pours... Well worth it.

I've never had a bad meal, here. It's a great, casual restaurant with a great variety of dishes. I've had everything from the gnocchi with brussel sprouts to the resetarian (veggie) burger with Mac n cheese. Besides a lengthy list of craft beers, they also have some great speciality cocktails like the nor'easter. Great service from the hosting station to the bar to the wait staff.

Really a 3.5 stars place for me, in Waterbury. Damn Waterbury has become cool. It's amazing what a DIPA with super restricted distribution can do. So, it is 2.5-3 stars on Friday or Saturday night. The beer selection, like most places in town, is awesome. You would think generally that $7-8/12z pours of super micros would be enough to keep the dbag contingent away. Nope. There are hippy/crunchy/hipster looking bro dude dbags all over on Fri/Sat nights in the back. The rest of the time? Very chill and closer to 3.5. If it was anywhere else (Brattleboro, Burlington, etc) it would be an easy 4. This makes it hard to rate the place. Oh, I've only had wings here (alright) and generally have popcorn for dinner.

Awesome burger!!!! Definitely stop in to this spot! Nice selection of beer on tap and the food is really good. This is my third visit here and they're consistently good. I've had their chicken sandwich before that was great also as well as the Cesar salad.

We've been there twice. 4 stars due to lack of waiting area. Very small! The Reservoir is certainly a popular place. And for good reason. The food has been incredible both times. And the beer selection is nice and hefty too. This is where I tried a porter for the 1st time (Wolavers) and became hooked. Staff is always extremely helpful and friendly. Only suggestion I would have is that they somehow improve on the amount of space available to those waiting for a table. When the weather is nice you can wait outside. However when the weather is nasty there's nowhere to go. The little alcove when you walk in is TINY. And the back bar while large, gets packed quickly. That being said, when I'm in town I will always make certain to stop and have a pint and 5 cheese Mac n' Cheese at the Reservoir

The rezitarian burger (vegan) is delicious! They also have a great selection of beers that pair well with this sandwich. We were first introduced to Heady Topper here. After climbing Camels Hump, it was a great reward. They have a wide variety of vegetarian options that can be easily converted to vegan by asking to hold the cheese. This is a great for cool, casual dining.

My wife and I visited on September 12, 2014 while on vacation in Vermont. This was a family trip so we took an opportunity to go on a date, just the two of us. We did a lot of research and decided that The Reservoir was the kind of place we would really enjoy. We arrived around 6:30p on a Friday night and Waterbury was hopping! We had a little bit of a wait, about 25 minutes, which wasn't too bad for a Friday night. We waited in the bar and enjoyed some of the local beer on tap. Once we had been seated, we took full advantage of our server, Cassie, who was very knowledgeable on both the food and the beer! We order two flights from the great beer list after peppering Cassie with some questions. The beers we chose were wonderful and were a great representation of what Vermont has to offer in the craft brew world. We ordered a large kale Caesar salad to split as an appetizer and it was delicious! My wife ordered the fried chicken with mashed potatoes, gravy, a biscuit and coleslaw and I ordered the duck with thyme couscous and root vegetables. The fried chicken was perfect, crispy and light, the mashed potatoes were creamy and the biscuit a wonderful fresh made farmhouse biscuit, light and flakey. The duck was wonderfully cooked, the couscous was buttery and perfectly seasoned and the root vegetables provided a nice earthy finish to the meal. Our only regret of the evening is that we were too full to order desert. The atmosphere, drink, food and service of the Reservoir was spectacular and absolutely rates highly in our books! We can't wait to visit again the next time we are in the area.

One of the best burger's I've ever had. Hands down delicious. Hard to say much more about that...go get one. Beer selection is impressive. Had my first taste of the famous Alchemist Heady Topper here and loved it. Wish we would have made it to their brewery. If you are in the area for Ben and Jerry's or Cabot....this place isn't too far away and is well worth the drive for one of the best burgers you'll ever eat.

Great micro brew selection! Choose from Alchemist Heady Topper through Zero Gravity Narconaut and those in the middle! I ate the 1/2 lb Vermont Burger (VT Family Farm Ground Beef) , Lettuce, Raw Onion, & a Pickle. They also have live music. Very chill, mellow kinda place! Check out the tables made from giant slabs of trees! Very cool!

We went to The Reservoir to eat in Vermont. I liked the decorations! They used Vermont license plates in the shape of Vermont! As an appetizer my parents got muscles I don't like seafood but they said it was the best! For my entree I got meatloaf sandwich. It was cold I think it was supposed to be but I didn't like it at all. My mom got steak and it was delicious! The fries were good too ! The waitress was really nice so all in all it was pretty good!

Great pub room for a meal and brews after a day of stoking it at Stowe. Located in the old downtown district of Waterbury, just south of the I89 interchange, this place draws a crowd on Fridays and Saturdays and only takes reservations for groups of 6 or more, so best to go early or endure a wait with no room at the bar to wile away the time. But the wait is worth is as they offer a selection of roughly 60 drafts, about a 1/3 of them from Vermont, which you can order in a custom sampler of 4. There's a typical pub menu plus some nice grown up entrees, along with a couple of local flavor options, like the incomparable venison pot pie that I will be thanking myself for ordering every time I think of this place.

Yea!

We were camping in the area and decided to stop in here for dinner on a busy Friday night. Top-notch beer list and the food is great too! Had a small wait for a table but passed the time by sampling some of the world-class beers at the bar in the back.
