Located in the Sugarbush resort, the Timber's restaurant has a really nice cozy feel and a great view of the mountain. The food, on the other hand, left us feeling empty. It was tapas/salsa dancing night so we decided on the gazpacho (which was spelled incorrectly on the menu), stuffed cannelloni, some beef on arugula, and another dish that I can't remember. The only thing that was good on the menu was the coffee flan we had for dessert although it really didn't taste like coffee. The chocolate truffles that accompanied the flan were fabulous but I'm not sure if these were made by the establishment or bought. As for the service, Kenneth was our server and the beginning of our dinner was rather slow. He started to pick up the pace after the food had arrived. I do like that he was attentive in pouring our wine for us when our glasses ran low. I don't think that I would come back to Timber's for the food since it was just so so and the prices were a little steep ($9 for each tapas plate) but it might be nice for have some wine and take in the scenery.

This is an odd space as it seems like they are trying to pack a bar, bistro, and fine dining establishment into one restaurant. My husband and I were there a couple of days ago and I have to say that we were slightly disappointed as we were looking for a fine dining experience. To start with, our cocktails were a little off and my husband noted that they did not have one of the ingredients for the drink but did not mention that. The service was a little awkward and sloppy and although the food was not bad, it didn't blow us away. All in all I would probably want to try other restaurants in the area before going back to Timbers especially considering the prices (which as noted before are ski resort prices).

We come here often because it's the only restaurant on the mountain where you can get an OK glass of wine. I love that they try and use local foods when ever possible. I can usually count on getting good salads or burgers. Otherwise, the food is inconsistent. It can be very good or disappointing. The service is almost always very slow. We came on Saturday and I had a skimpy Caesar salad with plenty of bland chicken but very little lettuce and almost no parmesan cheese. My husband was happy with his burger, cooked perfectly with hot fries. My adult son order pulled pork sliders. They were a big disappointment. They were miniscule (I know a slider is mini), all bread with about a tablespoon of pork. When having lunch while skiing, our goal is to be in & out in about 45 minutes. We were in & out in just under an hour. That's fast for Timbers. I would have rated it a 2 but I have had some really good meals here.

Pricey for the offerings, but its location is so convenient, close to the slopes. Perfect for the early breakfast buffet (standard fare), and good coffee. What a view of the slopes, especially during the Torchlight Parade.

Menu limited and lot of nickel and diming on bill, which I hate. Service was slow and waitress inattentive- had to ask other waitstaff to get her a couple of times. All in all, would not hurry back, esp on a busy ski day.

One of the better, fancier places to eat on the mountain. Drinks were ok. The service was really good and the staff was, for lack of a better word, friendly. The food was definitely solid and upscale, but a bit too simple for the fine dining price tags. I guess that's the drawback of being dead smack in the middle of a ski village. I would recommend this place if you're not a budget and want some diversity from the food at the ski lodge.

We're locals, and we really like to give our local establishments the benefit of the doubt. We heard from friends that there was a new chef and things had improved (Timbers has a checkered history with many of our friends). *Service was slow and inconsistent, and it was a Sunday evening with only a few tables being served. *The menu is way over priced for both the portions and the quality of food. And, we were charged exorbitant fees for small add-ons like small fruit cup with fondue ($7.00 surcharge). And, $32 for fondue for 2 ??? This is a small portion of bread and veggies, no meat. Ridiculous. *There were some silver linings...good burgers (though they threaten on the menu they can only cook them 'medium'). And to end it all, we had to have a busser search for our server twice, and the final time to get our check. It's such a shame that Sugarbush, in it's commendable recent history of improvements and development, can't get their flagship restaurant to a proper place, especially given its beautiful architecture and physical space.

Just ate at Timbers. I was disappointed at the small portions for the price. Mixed Green Salad for $11.50 very small. I had the Shrimp & Mussels with Pasta. It was served with 5 Mussels less than 10 Micro Shrimp, and very little Pasta. $25.00 is out of line. We won't be rushing back.

Great lunch menu! Far better than you would expect on the mountain. Service is as good as you'd expect from kids who wished they were snowboarding instead.

Sat at the bar for some après riding drinks and eats. Bartenders are great, service is fast. The pork belly tacos are awesome. It was kind of quiet/ low key but it was a Tuesday.

We walked into Timbers and there were about four people at the bar on a Saturday for lunch. Note: at this time the restaurant was completely empty. The bartender, aptly named Anastasia given the wicked stepsister and all, finally asked if we wanted menus. We replied "yes, and two waters please," to which she responded "there's some behind you on the table." By this, she was referring to dixie cups and a glass dispenser much like you'd find in a hotel lobby. I grabbed some teeny waters and waited. She proceeded to cease making eye contact with us, never dropped menus, and stood behind the bar eating a meal. We sat and sat. We thought perhaps she was getting off soon, but still no excuse. Another guy began his shift and finally gave us menus. We had to ask for water again twice. He brought other beverages we ordered and about ten minutes later water. The restaurant was filling up quickly by now. Five minutes after ordering he returned to ask what we ordered again although the bar wasn't very busy yet and we ordered the exact same thing. Very inattentive and like pulling teeth to get service. The food was just ok, but I've had a better grilled cheese for $2.50. Theirs is $15. Long story short...as two girls who have held many service jobs, we were blown away by the awful service. We'd never been treated how we were by Anastasia. I have a tip for her, find work in another industry, hospitality isn't your thing. All in all it took over an hour and a half to order and pay for two grilled cheeses, a coffee, hot chocolate, and cider. I would recommend this place to Hindus looking for a fun night out of fasting.

We had dinner at timbers last night. I give it 2 stars. Very nice setting. Food ok but very small portions for price. Had steak house salad for $11. Smallest salad I ever was served. Manager came by and asked us about our meal - when i told her about the salad, she came back later and took it off the bill. Meal was supposed to have a house veggie, but not served. Even the coffee was weak! One good point was their wine list had 30 bottles all priced at $30 each. Just go for the wine.

Lousy service. Six of us walked in at 7pm and the maître de acted like we were ruining his day! The restaurant was nearly empty! Waiters forgot things several times. Food was so so at best. The fondu appetizer was very lackluster but not altogether horrible. The butter brought out for all of the bread was frozen! I had a pork chop that was way over cooked and my mom had one that was way undercooked. Someone in our party complained about the coconut chicken. The only entree that people thought was good was the Osso Bucco. Nice interior but lousy service and very mediocre food at best. WAY overpriced for what else you can find around town.

First, I want to love this place. Been here once or twice before and had a good meal + good service. But this time...I was just stunned. Similar to what I've read here, food was above (to well above) average, but the service was incompetent at best. Had friends in town, and they walked through Timbers on the way off the mtn and they were intrigued. But the delays were awful. We were sat right away, but it took 15 minutes to take a drink order. Manager had to take the order, in fact. Then another 15 minutes for the drinks to arrive. Didn't really notice because we were talking. Then another 15ish to take our food order, at which point it was past 8PM, and the chance of walking out and finding something more than Paradise Deli at that point was nil (nothing against Paradise, love their stuff). Stupid stuff too, like for a group of 6 they would provide a bread basket with only 2-3 pieces of bread. After 30 minutes waiting for the food, I mentioned to the Maitre d' about the delays. At which point the manager came by and graciously apologized, and it STILL took another 15 minutes before the food showed. (Full 90 minutes for those keeping score at home). Food was again above average, but the sour taste overwhelmed the dinner. Now, everyone was perfectly nice - that's what I love about VT - and the manager gave the kids some free desserts. But since we had a large group, the 18% was automatically included - ugh. I spent most of the night and the next day apologizing to my guests, who paid the (not cheap) bill themselves because they were staying at my place. I blame myself - I should have complained louder at the outset.

As others have noted, the service can be off here. We were here for a late lunch/snack at around 2:30. It was not packed and most people had finished their food. No waitstaff for at least 5 or 7 minutes. Then our drinks took 15 minutes, if we were sitting at the bar it would have taken less than 3. Of course our drinks were no longer cold. (Cosmopolitans) The food took a little longer, and was quite good. All we had were the spicey fries, yum.

I would love to give this more stars but the staff is simply too inconsistent. There always seems to be some drama on the floor of this place between the staff and the kitchen. I just read Doris's review and would like to present an alternate view. I happened to be there that night and can say that it was not representative of a typical Timber's dinner. I have had occasion to eat many dinners at Timbers in a wide variety of contexts: banquets, private parties, Sunday brunch and just plain old "where should we go for dinner tonight". I have also been involved with events at the resort where dinner was part of a package, and have had the opportunity (and responsibility) to query guests about their meals. On the whole they have been pleased and have gone back on their own having not been in the past. Last night I was setting up for a gig at the resort and split a great burger and bowl of pea soup with my wife. Both excellent. I had a New Year's Eve dinner there that was BY FAR the best meal I have had in the Mad River Valley. I have enjoyed their chili, french fries, and a great "clam bake." As for the prices. Well... let's think: [1] It is essentially a hotel restaurant (always a little above average price-wise; [2] It is a dining option at a ski area (need I say more); So it will be more expensive then the local pub. However, the view of the mountain is great and on a night like last night with a beautiful snow falling all around, illuminated by the lights of the resort and the snow cats grooming the trails, it is worth it. If you are having an event or need to feed a large group... really, give them a call. They do an excellent job. Doris, maybe give it another shot if you are in the area.

My family of five (3kids - 13,10, and 8) had a terrific meal tonight. Found something for everyone. Calamari (served in cast iron pan with greens and hot peppers - yum!), BLT scallops and flat bread apps were unique and tasty. Nice sized burger off kids menu, delicious chicken with pan sauce, accommodative of the request for side of pasta, and nicely cooked filet mignon All in all very well prepared with attentive service. New Manager has this place humming..give it a try.
