Everything you want in a quaint New England B&B and then some! This is our go-to spot for regular ski trips to Sugarbush, MRG, or Stowe...and sometimes if we just want to get away. Lisabeth is a wonderful hostess, and the clientele are equally congenial. Oh, and the breakfasts are second to none! If you want good cell phone service and on-site spa, keep looking. If a laid-back, dog-friendly inn is your speed, look no further!
This place is beyond a five star establishment. Five star views, five star breakfasts, five star welcoming staff. We held our wedding at the inn and in went far beyond what we could have imagined. The place is beautiful and lisabeth and her staff handled our 150 (somewhat rowdy) guests like pros. Not to mention the food was AMAZING. We cannot recommend this place enough for the full Vermont experience. Love love love it and cannot wait to go back!
I won't lie. I chose this place because it was the least expensive. I justified that choice because it was also connected to American Flatbread, a fantastic restaurant. But, I can not say enough good things about this place and the proprietor, Lizabeth. Everything was perfect, the setting was idyllic, right on the banks of the Mad River, the grounds and house were in perfect order, and the breakfast was gourmet quality! One morning was build your own omelets with all kinds of fresh, local ingredients. Another morning was sour cream pancakes with fresh fruit and sausage. Every breakfast was accompanied by delicious, locally-supplied trimmings: VT coffee, fresh jams and jellies, unpasteurized milk and creamers and multiple types of delicious breads. The house was rustic and what you would expect from a converted farmhouse; it was perfect for what we needed- relaxation. We spent a lot of time sitting by the wood burning stove. We were lucky enough to eat at American Flatbread twice during our stay as well as some of the other local eateries and everything meet our expectations. The town is a gem. This is definitely our place when we're in town

My friend and I stayed here a little while back for a girls' weekend and had a fantastic time. We stayed in the Montgomery Room, which was very large, clean, and comfortable. Our room included a private, detached bathroom a few doors down the hall, but the provided bathrobes and intimate feel of the home (including the fact that there are only a few guest rooms on the first floor) made the detached bathroom adequately comfortable. The common areas were very comfortable, and we felt welcome to use them. Sometimes at B&B's you feel like you're in someone's living room, but this felt like usable guest space. We enjoyed the tea from Vermont Liberty Tea Co., and were especially excited to arrive back at the B&B late one evening to a platter of brownies in the dining room! (Linda was kind enough to share the recipe, though after seeing how much butter was called for - no wonder they were so good!! - I never attempted baking them myself). Coffee on the large porch in the morning overlooking fields and a large lawn dotted with adirondack chairs provided a welcome escape from city life. Luke and Linda were very friendly and fun, eager to offer recommendations but also not intrusive. Breakfast was delicious, and Linda was patient with my friend's several special requests. The dining room included a large, long table, but also a couple of smaller tables for 2 for those who prefer more intimacy. I definitely intend to return!
The epithet "home away from home " is often overused giving it less meaning. In this case not only is it a proper description of the Wilder Farm Inn, but also it's innkeepers Luke and Linda treat you as if you were family (or in my case better than family). The inn provides space to be either alone with a good book or in the middle of new friends you didn't know you had. Fresh baked goodies are always there to greet you as is the every present decanter of port. Breakfasts are not to be missed which include farm fresh everything and home baked breads. The rooms are wonderfully comfortable and beautifully appointed. The extra distance from Sugarbush is worth the drive. Nothing this close to the mountain feels like home.
Beautiful, comfortable rooms, delicious, creative breakfasts, and great friendly advice on area events, food, etc. all were readily accessible from Luke & Linda. To top it off, we were able to purchase some lovely pottery as gifts for friends while we visited. We stayed here over Labor Day weekend and found fun activities nearby (water sports, a wonderful craft fair, great food and local beer). Couldn't be happier with our choice to stay at Wilder Farm Inn, and we've been recommending it to whomever we can ever since.

We just got back from a wonderful stay in the beautiful Yellow Farmhouse Inn in the adorable town of Waitsfield, VT, in the Mad River Valley. Everything was absolutely perfect! We stayed in the Caroline Room, and it was very comfortable (especially the pillow-topped bed!). There was plenty of room for our luggage, thanks to the long bench along the wall, and the bathroom was beautifully updated with a Jacuzzi. Mike and Sandra are skilled innkeepers and the perfect hosts. They made us perfectly comfortable around there gorgeous property, and offered delicious treats such as fresh-baked cookies every afternoon when we arrived back from our day. There is a refrigerator available for use in the common area, as well as everything a person could need - Mike and Sandra even loaned us a backpack when we decided to go on an unplanned hike up Mt. Abraham! Lovely dining area, and comfortable and beautifully decorated common room. The breakfasts were something to rave about! Sandra is a marvelous cook, and each day began with a gourmet-quality two-course meal, along with plenty of hot, fresh coffee. Mike anticipates every need, and dietary restrictions/allergies are thoughtfully observed. I dream of those pumpkin pancakes we were served on our first morning! We couldn't have been more pleased with our stay at the Yellow Farmhouse, and we hope to be back very soon. You will be extremely satisfied if you choose this B&B when visiting the Mad River Valley.
Very happy we found the Yellow Farmhouse Inn for our recent 5 night stay. The location is perfect, easy to walk to main street (VT 100) and yet set back from the main road and separated from it by large green fields, so very quiet. The grounds are beautiful with rock gardens of flowers, big trees with shade, and nice green grass. A huge covered porch, with a swing is great to relax and listen to the birds singing. Sandra and Mike are great hosts! Very friendly, polite, down to earth, and great cooks. The rooms are great, very clean, and great views. We stayed in the Jacqueline Room. Dolly, a beautiful and super friendly dog was fun to spend some time with as she rested in the shade on the grounds. We will definitely be back to visit the beautiful Mad River Valley again, and stay at this beautiful inn.
We had never been to Waitsfield but after doing some research we decided to stay at the Yellow Farmhouse Inn for our trip. I am BEYOND happy we made this decision. The Inn is beautiful, the rooms are very comfortable, the living area is spacious, and they have an amazing yard with a deck and some benches - a perfect place to relax and enjoy the view. Mike and Sandra are also such welcoming hosts, it really feels like you are being welcomed into their home. The breakfast was delicious and basically a 4 star meal to start the day. They also think of things their guest need like a small guest refrigerator (perfect to put beer and wine purchases in) glasses for said drinks next to the fridge, a social area, fresh cookies baked daily, and a very nice selection of tea for throughout your stay. I would highly recommend this place to couples looking for a romantic getaway or even just families. It is the perfect place for anyone or group!

The Inn At the Round Barn Farm

Reviews:
We go away every year for a couple of nights to celebrate our anniversary. This year we tried the Round Barn Farm. First of all, the place is breathtakingly beautiful. Everyone was so friendly and helpful. I always check before we book if the place we are staying can accommodate my gluten free diet (I have Celiac) and was assured they could. I didn't expect much to be honest, as long as I get some eggs for breakfast I'd be happy. Well, I have to say I was BLOWN AWAY by what I was served. They went over and above my expectations. Each morning I was served a fresh, gluten free baked good. Seriously? I had to pinch myself to make sure I wasn't dreaming. I have NEVER had anyone go out of their way like that for my diet! We stayed in the Terrace room which is downstairs next to the game room. There weren't many people in the game room, so we basically had it to ourselves and it was like our own little apartment. The Terrace room itself was beautiful. Everything was immaculately clean and current (no outdated bathrooms or things falling apart). I can't say enough good things about this place. I would LOVE to go back!!!
My first time visiting The Inn at The Round Barn Farm was for a summer wedding. Between the green flowered meadows, the covered bridge, the little farm attached to the property and the reception in the round barn...well, that venue totally epitomized what the world thinks is the idyllic Vermont country setting. Then the sun went down, and the fireflies began to twinkle. Wow! Fast forward, my second visit to The Inn at The Round Barn Farm...OMG, it was winter. As far as the eye could see, everything was blanketed in white, white, snow. This time the only thing twinkling were the icicles on the eves. Lol, I got out of the car and started sliding across the parking lot. This California girl was COLD! But the moment I walked into The Round Barn the warmth of all the townspeople surrounded me. What an amazing farmers market Waitsfield puts on. Music, food, crafts, and more; all under that round roof. Five stars year round!
We have nothing but great things to say about this place. It is absolutely beautiful and the food is mouth watering! We stayed in their Richardson room and it was stunning; the whole place was from inside to the gardens and ponds outside and inside the silo too. It is centralized so Burlington is just a short drive away and there was lots to do in between there too (hiking, kayaking, etc.) We already plan on making this our spot we return to on trips to Vermont.

We stayed at the White Horse in September as part of our first wedding anniversary. It was the first time either my wife or I had stayed in a B&B, so we do not have anything to compare, but we both thought our stay was outstanding. Bob and Allen were both personable and able to answer any questions we had. Our room was cozy and comfortable. The fireplace room was well set up - you could interact with the other guests if you wished, or could stay by yourself. And the food was excellent, both days we were there. We would highly recommend the White Horse Inn, and we would certainly stay again.
Shhhh! Don't tell anyone how wonderful the inn is under new ownership. Friendly helpful owners, clean comfortable rooms, great common space, fantastic breakfast, fresh cookies in the evening - all at an affordable price. I want the word to get out just enough so that the inn does well but not so much that I can't get a reservation when I want.
Out in the country (just 5 minutes from town), serene, loved the front porch. Bob is SO welcoming! Fireplace room, TV room. I was there for marathon weekend, and they had a hot, great breakfast extra early just for us (and would have made a gluten-free option if I'd wanted).

A very warm (good) stay. Not your typical B and B. what Really makes this place is that it is a D & B & B. D means dinner. Take the opportunity to have Lisa and Mike cook a dinner. I will be tasting the venison chops for a long time. Cooked perfectly. The room was very clean and very quiet. If u are looking for a traditional Vermont farmhouse textbook B & B, you won't find it here; but if you want something that can't be duplicated, don't pass by. Reasonably priced.
Friendly people, extremely clean and neat, and very very interesting decorations and furnishings in the common area. For being easy to get to, very quiet.
Mike & Lisa.. you guys are amazing! This was our first stay at an Inn.. and prior to arriving we had stayed in NY in a horrible room. The pictures just don't do this place justice. Once you arrive.. you'll find that it's a quaint place, parking was good and the front door was very close. You'll find that there are three floors, the bottom most are the quarters for Mike & Lisa.. and also the hot tub which we have access to after skiing or boarding all day :). The rooms really made you feel like home. Decorated, well taken care of, the beds made you feel like you could sleep in them all day! 2nd floor has I believe 5 rooms.. and the dining area is on the same floor. 3rd floor has 5 more rooms and also and area with a TV and a cozy fireplace. 4th floor is the game room.. Pool table.. foosball.. plenty of board games.. even darts. In the morning they have a lovely breakfast menu.. with french toast.. and many other available options. Mike & Lisa run the show so they freshly prepare this meal for you! (dinner is available too, you must provide prior notice for them in the morning time though so they can prepare accordingly) I was hesitant to write the review because well.. It would suck if next time they were soo busy I couldn't book a room LOL. This place pretty much MADE our experience in Vermont.. they were very kind to us.. and even shared tons of stories about their travels and foods they enjoyed. You'll find several travel guides for places which they've explored.. be sure to ask them about their experiences! We'll be back.. heck we were practically planning our next trip when we first arrived lol.

Love love love this place!! I have been here twice with a friend who has a place in Sugar Bush, and both experiences have been great. Last time I went here, we had to wait a bit, despite putting our name on the list earlier that day. There was a fire and a Dr. Seuss book to keep us company, so I didn't mind waiting outside (though my decision to wear a light jacket in the January cold proved to be stupid beyond belief). Once inside, we were served quickly. The pizza was absolutely delicious!! Whether it be because of the amazing taste, or because the friend I was staying with is very healthy and had no snacks laying around the house, I scarfed down about eight or nine slices of pizza during our meal. The root beer was also very good. If I am ever in the area again, I would not hesitate to revisit this gem!
Just saw AF featured in an HGTV video promoting their 2011 Dream Home giveaway--pretty cool! Brought back some memories and made my mouth water!
American Flatbread is easily my favorite restaurant. I've been snowboarding at Sugarbush for like 15 years and I go to American Flatbread at least twice every time I'm up there. First and most importantly, the flatbread (brick oven pizzza basically) is absolutely amazing. The worst meal I had there was pretty darn good. Usually it's fantastic. They have two specials every week; get them! Their standard menu pizzas are great, but their specials are super creative and just awesome. They also have a great rotating on tap beer selection. I'm pretty sure they're all local and/or micro breweries and Vermont has a great beer scene. The atmosphere in the dining room is great. Really warm timber framed barn type of deal. Now I've read some reviews where people have complained about the wait. Here's the deal. If you get there early enough (4 ish) you probably won't wait very long. Otherwise you could wait up to 3 hours, maybe more. But there's nothing that can be done about it. The place is super popular and there's only so much seating and only one oven. If you don't wanna eat early and you don't wanna wait long, don't even attempt to eat here. I actually really enjoy the wait. Grab a few beers, stand out by the fire and chat with other fellow skiers/snowboarders all while your appetite is getting stronger and stronger which will make the flatbread taste that much better. I look forward to eating at American Flatbread as much as I look forward to snowboarding. In case I haven't been clear, I love this place!

If you walk in here and order a pizza, it will suck (like all other pizza in the area). BUT, if you walk in here and order a pizza "Bayonne style", it will be the best pizza in about a 200 mile radius. Why? The owner is from Bayonne, NJ, and evidently, "Bayonne style", literally translated, means "I'll have a pizza that doesn't suck, please".
I love the Buffalo Chicken Pizza and my husband loves the Meat Lovers. Luckily they let you get half and half! I never thought I would like Buffalo Chicken Pizza, but this version is just SO delicious. It even comes with a side of blue cheese dressing. This is one of our favorite places to stop for dinner after a long day skiing at Sugarbush. The inside is a little dumpy, but the pizza is good. There are also good beers on tap. I just wish they opened a little earlier (like 4pm) to accommodate hungry skiers. If you get rejected from the pretentious, annoying (but delicious) Flatbread Pizza, come over to Bongiorno's for a more casual, but still good dinner.
After a long day of skiing at Sugarbush, we decided to order pizza from here. It did take an hour, but they told us it would take an hour. That's my only gripe. Other than that, the food was great. We ordered a traditional pizza and Vermont style (maple buffalo) wings. I thought the wings were excellent, the maple syrup gave them a unique taste. The pizza was yummy too. Being from Northern, NJ, I'm picky when it comes to pizza, but I was content. I would definitely order from here again if I was skiing at Sugarbush.

I have eaten at every restaurant in this space since the early 1990s and this is one of the best. We went for breakfast and the menu was mercifully manageable but still had the classics and a few surprises. I had a goat cheese, tomato, & spinach omelet, which was a little spendy for an omelet but it was big and they were generous with the extra toppings. I was just delighted to have goat cheese in eggs, who knew how good that combo would be! My friend had poached eggs and hash that she seemed pleased with. It was the first hash I ever tried and it was delicious. We both loved the spicing of the home fries. I know I'd go back.
The pork shank was delicious. Then oyster corn cakes were very tasty as well. Everyone was very friendly and loved the intimacy of the restaurant. I highly recommend eating here!
Food is ok. They should try to use more of the food made from local farms. They are too heavy into meat. Would be nice to have some other options.
