Excellent little restaurant! My girlfriend and I go here a lot! One of my favorite places to go in St.Albans. GREAT burgers, GREAT pancakes, AMAZING turkey rice soup! The only thing I would ask is to put the turkey rice soup on the menu instead of being a soup of the day, that way I could get it more often ;) highly recommend
A pretty awesome place to go to with a friend. The prices are reasonable and the food taste like they're made with fresh ingredients.
My girlfriend and I stopped here on our way back from a wedding weekend in Montreal. It was a welcome stop with in a really nice area with great staff. I had a great blackened bleu burger with fries and beans. The service was fast and friendly, and I'm planning on stopping back there again when we return to Canada!

Tim’s Place

Reviews:
Breakfast at a sit down place is pretty rare for me, at least it is after a long night at work! I've been eyeing Tim's place hesitantly since I moved to st. Albans. So naturally I gotta give it a chance! My SO got french toast with a side of home fries and sausage, while I got a sausage burrito. The french toast was a little above average, while the home fries were just bad. The breakfast burrito was alright but certainly not the best I've had. Service was prompt but weak, she only came by sparingly and was in a hurry to do something else. Overall, give it a try if you are looking for a quick bite but don't expect too much.
Heard that Tim was bringing back his family's famous pizza recipe and had to stop in and try it out - it was just as i remembered it. Maybe better? Great to see a family legacy live on, and for a quality establishment to thrive. I'll be coming back.
I grew up having this famous family recipe so I was excited to check it out. It did not disappoint....just as I remembered it. Pizza was very well priced but appitzers and drinks were very over priced. Our bill for wings and a large pizza a drinks was over $50. Will definetely go again but only for take out....

Lucky Buffet

Reviews:
Not bad for the price... its a little greasy but thats the only flaw I can see that might make another chinese buffet better than this. The lunch price is a great value, I think its $6.25 for all you can eat.. if you go to McDonalds that will buy you a single big mac meal. So at least with this buffet you get lots of choices, huge variety. The variety here is much better than the small buffet near the old JC Penneys. I've been here about 10 times and never had a bad meal. One bad thing, they dont seem to have their own website, to me every business should have a website.. at the very least a facebook account.
Best Chinese buffet Ive ever had in VT. Hot food that tasted good and wasn't chewy like other buffets. Employees working hard putting out fresh food and refilling drinks.I live in Burlington and will make the drive to Lucky Buffet in St Albans
Good selection, one of the best Chinese buffets I've been to in vermont so far. Food is hot, fairly fresh and has yet to disappoint me. One time I went there with a upset stomach already and I'll tell you, chinese + feeling sick doesn't mix!

Mother Hubbard’s

Reviews:
St. Albans has some decent sub shops. Hometown, for instance, and Beverage Mart. But the best sub shops in the revitalized Rail City don't have places to sit, nor do they have baked goodies like Mother Hubbard's The subs are massive. Huge. Giant. And not overly pricey. Service is friendly and helpful. For taste, size, cost (and with tables to eat at) Mother Hubbard's is the best sub shop in St. A. It's a little out of the way, is all.
They make a pretty good sandwich and wrap here. They have been better and they seem to be in need of a serious clean up. It's a beautiful place to enjoys a snack or a cup of coffee. They also need to keep a better eye on their front counter.
Meh, First few times were good. Now, its lost... something. Flavor? Fillings? Personality of the work staff? They seem annoyed to have someone come in. I've returned to a old go-to favorite: Tatros.

One Federal Restaurant & Lounge

Reviews:
Great food, happy staff, and awesome environment. One Federal has a great line up of appetizers and entree options. Their bar tenders are very knowledgeable when it comes to drinks and often very social. There is often a wait on evenings and weekends, sometimes up to a hour, but don't let that discourage you at all, this place still stands out a a charm amongst St. Albans City.
Served me burnt potato skins!!!
I had to retract my previous review after my last visit as I feel three stars was being far too generous. The food being "hit or miss" is an understatement. I am aware that this is regarded as one of the better restaurants in town...and that's unfortunate. The food leaves a lot to be desired and certainly does not match the price. The menu is all over the place and the quality is mediocre at best. But this particular review is not about the food. On two separate occasions, meeting with friends, I had the misfortune of witnessing the (male) kitchen staff being incredibly rude and misogynistic towards the female staff. I understand that the kitchen environment can be a bit tense, but their behavior is simply inexcusable. I even mentioned something to who I thought was the manager whose reply was "yeah that's pretty common." The food is nothing special, especially when it's prepared by individuals who exhibit this sort of behavior. I can't, in good conscious, support this business. My friends and I will go elsewhere.

Linda’s

Reviews:
I've been interested in trying this place out for a bit since one of my friends went and really enjoyed her food. Now I think I've been to all the breakfast places in St. Albans, this was my last stop! I'd like to first mention because of the negative review under me, you won't have the bill brought to you like most places - right on the menu it says that you need to go to the counter to pay. Good thing my SO can read (yeah, I didn't notice either)! I got 2 blueberry pancakes with bacon and real maple syrup. To add blueberries or other mix-ins, real maple or bacon/sausage there are extra charges. I got chocolate milk for a drink. SO got french toast with sausage and a side of home fries. While the food was a bit above average, it was in large portions, fast and very affordable! The waitress was friendly, upbeat and on her game. The place itself is really cute and well put together. Linda's opens at 6 am so thats pretty nice, they serve the full menu all day too! Lunch at breakfast for us night shifters or breakfast for lunch! They might not have french fries early morning tho because of the process of cooking them. The only negative thing I have to say is booth seats weren't very comfortable, add a little cushion and some support around the wooden base where the seat ends. little painful on the legs. Great cute place to stop by for a quick meal!
After being in St Albans for 3 years I can safely say this is one of the best restaurants here. Clean, good food, good portions and quality made. I've been to Linda's at least 5 times now and have tried a wide variety of menu items. The service is above par and the place is clean. I like knowing my chef has good personal hygiene and that I don't have to worry about foreign matter in my food. Their poutine is TOP NOTCH. The fries are perfectly crispy, the gravy is savory and guess what.....this place is totally proper and uses CHEESE CURDS. Honestly, I'm not sure what all the hate is for. I've had their meatloaf, sandwiches, omelets, pancakes, poutine. I'm a fat kid at a carnival, and guess what? Linda's wins the prize every time. 10/02 Just heard that they no longer use cheese curds in the poutine. :( It sucks, they were the closest thing to La Banquise we had around here.
We eat at Linda's all the time, and have never been disappointed. They have the best poutine! Their sandwiches and burgers are great also. The portions are generous, the prices are fair and the staff is very friendly. We always bring our out if town guests here, because you can always count on getting a good meal here.

Unlike others, we stopped in and had no wait for a seat. The addition of a pellet stove in the dining room is awesome, especially given the cold winter days that Vermont sees. The burger was good. I won't say it's excellent because there was far more bun than burger, but it was good. Fries were very good. The pie we took home was also really good.
I've eaten here twice since the new owners took over. The food was much better when it was Athena's. I ordered a breakfast sandwich, the egg was not a real egg, the homefries were so garlicky I couldn't eat them. I ordered a pancake and ordered VT Maple syrup which I paid extra for, was good but there was not enough syrup for even one pancake. Very disappointing! We won't eat here again.
We went for breakfast and will not be returning. I had the hungry man snippet which did not live up to its name. It was a mixture of ham bacon and sausage with home fries. It was hard to find the meat. My husband ordered 4 scrambled eggs which looked more like 2 and were flat not fluffy. He even asked the waitress if there were really 4 and she answered not very nicely that there were. She did bring an additional egg for no charge. Overall small servings at high prices.

Stopped here with my mom on our way to Canada. They have an excellent beer and cocktail selection. I had a steak salad, and my mom had an ahi tuna salad. We enjoyed our salads. Everything was fresh. Service was friendly, but slightly slow. I'd come here but not if you're in a rush.
The food wasn't too bad. It looks like their menu is improving. Good beer selection as well. I had the chicken fingers with waffle fries & left hungry. Only 4 small fingers come with the order. I guess I should've gotten a burger - they looked huge. Service was pretty quick even though the place was full of folks for the Kentucky Derby - no funny hats though.
Have been several times now, mostly at lunch time, and recently for date night with my wife. Every time I have been the service has been quick and friendly, and the food has been great. The menu isn't huge, but this seems to be part of their formula for success. Everything they put on the menu they do very well. Will keep going back again and again.

Not bad food but nothing to be wowed about. The place looks like exactly what it is, a dinner. Old decorations, old tables, fans above. I ordered the eggs, bacon and pancakes. Eggs were a bit oily, bacon was thin and crispy and pancakes were ok. Would not come back unless I absolutely had too.
Stay away from this place until colder weather. No AC all summer, extremely uncomfortably hot. Too hot to enjoy a meal, unbelievable!!
I went for breakfast/brunch this past Sunday. It was fairly busy. Table turn over time was spot on. But the food was the worst. I ordered the Vermonter Skillet : Apples, cheddar cheese, onions, home fries and bacon with 2 poached eggs - the entire thing was dripping with grease and the eggs were overcooked to the point of being hard. I was unimpressed. The waitress didn't do anything, except ask if my eggs were okay... which give me the impression that she knew they were over cooked. She didn't smile, tell us the specials, check in on us or clear dirty plates. Won't go there again.
