I'm surprised that the Springfield Royal Diner has not been Yelped yet. This is a very rare O'Mahoney diner which was originally located in the Hudson Valley (Kingston, NY) and was purchased and moved to Springfield VT. This diner opened several years ago, but closed down for about a year. The Springfield Royal Diner & Pancake House is currently under new ownership and management and is now open 7 days a week for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. The atmosphere inside is that of a classic 50s style diner with counter seating and booth seating in the original diner area and additional seating in the attached dining room decked out with posters of classic Americana including a color print of the 5 & 10 Diner, Elvis Presley, Marilyn Monroe, and Audrey Hepburn. Classic 1950s music is playing over the speakers. The menu offerings are typcial American diner fare including egg dishes, pancakes, crepes, French toast, burgers, sandwiches, soups, salads, comfort dishes (meatloaf, steaks, pasta, seafood, roast turkey), and desserts (ice cream, shakes, pies, puddings). The prices here are pretty fair, most items are under $10, except seafood, steaks, carne asada, and fettuccini alfredo with meat. A list of specials are offered too. From 5PM-8:30PM, it's Pasta Night (Thursdays), Prime Rib (Fridays), and Mexican food (Saturdays). I stopped here for an early dinner recently. I ordered an ice water and decided to go with a classic American comfort dish, which was a Homemade Meatloaf Dinner ($7.95) served with mashed potatoes & gravy and vegetable of the day. The food came out quickly and I could tell the food was zapped. The meatloaf was pretty standard, very firm with a dense mixture of ground beef, peppers, & onions. The mashed potatoes were seasoned and chunky. The gravy was slightly salty, so I used plenty of ketchup for the dish. The vegetable of the day was fresh broccoli. For dessert, I had a slice of Coconut Cream Pie ($2.95), which was very sweet and creamy with a soft graham cracker crust and topped with real whipped cream. Overall, the food was good and decent as expected, nothing bad. The service was efficient and prompt. I would probably return to this diner, if I was in the area again and hungry for a good standard meal at a reasonable price. It wasn't bad but it was easily forgettable. If I'm in the area and looking for a cup of coffee or breakfast I'd stop by over any other local options but I won't go out of my way to eat there.

Wow, worth the drive. Friendly service, good breakfast favs, and gigantic portions. Biggest pancakes I've seen since The Royal Canadian Pancake House. We had the 2x2x2. Enough food for two! The short stack is probably enough for 3 or 4.

My girlfriend and I were driving along and saw this old school looking diner and thought it would be cool to give it a try. Well, we should have kept driving. That has to be one of the worst breakfast we have ever had. First I asked for an egg cream and the waitress looked at me like I had two heads. Obviously it's not an old school diner if they don't know what an egg cream is. The chickens in the back must have been laying the eggs we ordered because it took forever for us to get our food. The eggs benedict sauce tasted like nacho cheese. The eggs were really runny and the hash well it looked like a Can of Alpo that I wouldn't even feed my dog. My girlfriends strawberry milk shake was very good and she enjoyed the home fries. If not for that it would have been one star.

I had a terrific chocolate milkshake (with a jumbo straw) and the Monte Cristo sandwich. It came with real maple syrup, included! The sandwich was made with fluffy real french toast and really good ham and cheese. Service was friendly, booths were full and busy and the decor is classic (pink marble walls and boomerang laminate table tops - what's not to like?!). Recommended.

Stopped here with a bunch of my friends on the way back from vt headed home to ny. Just wow. Great lunch and breakfast! I had the turkey club with their fries (which are fresh cut by the way) and my friends had burgers and eggs. ($3 egg sandwich on a bagel with fries...wow!) Great little stop with food that blows away long island diners. Don't underestimate the "road side" look...u won't be disappointed!
