Three words: sweet potato fries. Yum! This seasonal, roadside greasy spoon serves up some of the freshest seafood a landlocked state like Vermont can get. Fantastic, artery-clogging specials almost daily. You don't feel like having anything fried? Then how about some ice cream? Sandy's serves soft-serve, sundaes, milkshakes, and slurpies. 32 flavors in all. You give your order at one window, get a bingo ball back and hang around experiencing the local color until your food pops up around the corner. great place to catch up with locals and to see who is traveling the Vermont roads at any given moment. This place is popular with tourists and locals alike. Remember, ask for Sandy's sweet potato fries and make sure to bring cash. Sandy's does not take CCs!

Such a bummer In an attempt to save money sandy's downsized all food especially ice cream, and sky rocketed prices for mediocre food. Just don't do it and save your money.

Ordered food from menu on their website. Thought we were paying 21.40 for the food got there and the prices have changed so our bill was 36 dollars. Overpriced bad food. Won't ever order from their again.

delicious milkshake made from lots of ice cream! Our fried clams (M) was about 21$ The milkshake we got a 20 oz..they gave us the smaller size at first so we told them we had actually ordered the larger size. There's outdoor seating....there's indoor too but we didn't venture in there...looked kinda dark though the OPEN sign was on. Bathroom on the left of the place.

Just found this place today while jumping off of 89 on my way back home from Montpelier. A nice find....had two dogs one with kraut and one with cole slaw....both very good. My favorite was the slaw dog....ate in the parking lot & washed it down with a cold beer I had in a cooler in the trunk....life was good today.

So this dive is a nice diversion if your visiting the nearby Joseph Smith memorial. I got the Chicken Strip dinner and shared it with my wife and mother in law. Plenty of food and pretty decent. The soft serve was really good!

Stoner's of the world UNITE! This is THE place to go to enjoy delicious greasy, salty, crunchy food. They have it all, from onion rings to clam strips, from cheeseburgers to fried mushrooms. And when you've eaten all the way down to the grease stained plate there are plenty of ice cream delicacies to choose from for dessert! The best part is that the prices are amazingly inexpensive. The few down sides being that it's only open from April to October and they only have a small air-conditioned in door seating area. meaning many have to fend off the flies, but believe me, after you've tasted the food, those flies don't stand a chance!

Absolutely delish! They have great prices & the food is so good. I got the special when I was there - 2 corn dogs, frieds, & a Coke for $6. I think they need to add corn dogs to the usual menu because they certainly were tasty. & then there is the 32 flavors of soft serve & various sundaes... so filling! But so good. Be forewarned that if you order the large milkshake ($5.50), you will be given like a quart of milkshake. It is by far the largest trough of milkshake I have ever seen.

Such a bummer. We came across this place on a Sunday drive. I'm a fan of snack bars, drive-ins, et al, and we gave it a shot. we order the nachos supreme, a bacon cheese burger, and a clam strip roll. Incidentally, we ate inside, and that is relevant. The burger and roll were ok, not amazing, not awful...adequate. Then there were the nachos. A small pile of chips (inexpensive, great, so maybe the size wasn't bad for the price), coated with some sort of orange-ish paste that didn't appear to be cheese. I've eaten questionable things, but this was outside those boundaries. The chicken looked off, like microwaves maybe. We asked for jalapenos, which they graciously added, but even those looked off. Perhaps contact with the orange paste infected them. Salsa and sour cream were served on the side, and the sour cream was liquified. We didn't even touch it. When the woman who was helping us finally reappeared we had finished the items that appeared safe and explained the nachos appeared off and we would like to return them and have them removed from the bill. Obviously, we were happy to pay for the other items, but not for something that would be better kept in a level 4 CDC lab. The server came back and explained the "bossman" said no, they could not take it off. Maybe they thought the swarm of flies inside the dining room were part of our party and had eaten some of the nachos? I'm willing to overlook inedible food for a place that does the right thing and removes a single item from a bill, but why would you expect a customer to pay for a science project not fit for human consumption which they did not consume? We weren't expecting great things for the budget prices, but we didn't expect to be requested to pay for something that we did not eat that no one should eat, ever. Never again.

A decent, super cheap junk food stop right off Route 89 with nice staff, a HUGE menu (breakfast even), and picnic tables. Try the sweet potato fries. They sell buckets too - onion rings for $18?! It's hilarious to see this on a menu.

Sandy's is a wonderful little joint that is open seasonally (April through October). They have a huge selection of fried seafood, chicken dishes, hot dogs, hamburgers, etc. My favorite thing here are the stripped clams - soooooooo yummy, and their tartar sauce is delicious. Add a burger (it's a patty but it still only costs about 75 cents) and some of their awesome onion rings and you'll eat like a king. This is a favorite summertime haunt for my friends & family. If you've still got room, they have creamees and hard ice cream, sundaes, banana boats, or my all time favorite, the upside down banana split. I've been coming here since I was a baby, literally. I napped under the prep table when my mom was working here when I was young. If you are ever in the area during the summer months be sure to check out this place. You may have to wait a bit for your food as everything is cooked to order, but it's totally worth it. And their prices are super low. EDIT 7/10/07 - I went back for the first time this season last week. Hamburgers are still 70 cents! :)

Don't be confused... the 'doggie sunday' is for dogs! haha Sandy's is the ideal cheap summer greasy food destination. Great selection of ice cream, and like Beck said, the large milkshake is HUGE! they have indoor and outdoor seating, and some kid friendly picnic tables. They also host cruise night, where you get to really experience the locals. The food takes a little while, as it's all fried to order, but worth the wait.
