I went here on 08/03 during a week-long vacation in Fletcher, VT with my boyfriend, my sister and her husband. We've visited St. Albans over the past few years and have always enjoyed the small-town feel of Main Street, and the unique shops with one-of-a-kind items. But I digress. On to the restaurant. I decided to order the Pulled Pork Sub (pork with cheddar cheese and topped with BBQ sauce). This was incredibly filling (I almost couldn't finish it), but it was also incredibly delicious. The pork was tender and savory, with no fatty or tough parts, and the BBQ sauce must be homemade, as I have never tasted a sauce quite like this. It was equal parts sweet and tangy, with a hint of spice I couldn't identify (paprika?). But it was awesome and finger-licking good. The space itself is roomy and comfortable for sitting in and chilling out, and they have a wide variety of sides to choose from as well. Too bad I didn't have more room to sample anything else they had on display, but I can guarantee that next year, we'll be back.
We're in St. Albans a lot, but never stopped here. Decided to give it a try today. They have very delicious, daily soups and yummy sandwiches, which they also have some daily specials for. We would definitely recommend this place, and we will definitely be back!
All the locals must come here since they were lining up as we left the sandwich shop. We got a hot pastrami, Reuben, lobster salad and soup. Perfectly prepared and not full of fillers or fat. We read the reviews on Yelp and we agree that this is a great little sandwich shop that does it right.

Best pizza!!! Miss this place. Not sure what they do to the dough but it is perfect! I like whatever is on special and the white pizzas!! Service could be a little better though. There is this young blonde girl that is a monster. One time she yelled at my grandmother. Snotty brat. Everyone else is nice though. I do also wish the served some kind of hard lemonade or something. I don't do beer and that's all they have.
Good crust. Lots of fresh cheddar cheese and toppings. Just what you want in a pizza.
Stopped in for test-bite (as I always need to find a good source of pizza where ever I may be). Asked for two slices and a Switchback. I would judge it as average-tasting. I had two plain slices, to test the flavor and texture of the crust. The establishment was busy and appeared clean. Waitress was friendly and attentive. Men's room was clean and functional. Need to try some other pizza places around here...

Oriental Kitchen

Very quick take out kind of place. I've only had take out twice and the first time, the dishes with any kind of breaded chicken tasted and felt overcooked, But the second time all food was perfect. I recommend the beef lo mein here along with the sesame chicken. Fried rice is ok but I've had better in several take out establishments.
This is our favorite Chinese take-out place in the area. You can order online, and your food is usually ready before you get there. Pretty much everything in the Pu Pu Platter is amazing, the black pepper chicken (or shrimp) is delicious, and the Bourbon Chicken is killer.
I have been a big fan of Oriental Kitchen since they opened, but last night's experience has proven that they are quickly going downhill. We order online. It's more convenient since we have to drive 15 miles and time it with errands. After placing the order at 5pm and scheduling the pick-up at 6:45, we had the confirmation number in hand and an email of our order. At 6:45, we went to pick up the order and the staff seemed very confused. Nothing was ready and the order they pulled up and started to fill was not ours. One of the women then looked the order up online and found the correct order. At that point, everything had to be cooked still. We didn't get our food until 7:30. No discount for the mistake, no true apology, just a lot of blame thrown around from one worker to the other. Now that the ordering fiasco was over, we went home with our food. In the rush, the lack of attention to the food cooking properly wasn't ideal. The chicken wings were not fully cooked. Other foods, like the spring rolls and black pepper chicken, were horribly greasy, something I've never experienced from Oriental Kitchen before. After this, we've decided that we won't return. St. Albans has another Chinese that is just as good as Oriental Kitchen used to be.

came highly recommended by a friend I was in the area so we won't stop by and check this place out place was pretty packed we wait about 30 mins get seated Bar is very nice we order some drinks it came very fast and it was a heavy pour pretty cool decor cool music very nice place
Great little find right on Lake Champlain.., well across the road from the lake. Overall great food with allot of options. The only complaint we heard and pointed out immediately was very slow service. But once we talked to our server it was immediately fixed and we had an awesome experience. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone!
Ambiance is nice. Service was nearly non-existent. After being seated I quickly realized why so many patrons were going to the bar to get their own drinks. 10+ minutes for a waitress to stop by. 15 more for 2 beers to arrive. App was really greasy. Just don't look at the food and keep your eyes on the bay?

Mimmo’s Pizzeria and Restaurant

Best Italian restaurant in the area! Their pizza is spectacular! Best calamari around! Staff is attentive and fantastic! I recommend any of there subs! My favorite pizza is Simones special! When I get Italian, I get Mimmos!
I've not yet had a super pizza from Mimmo's. I think, on their menu, the best items are calzones and desserts. The sandwiches are nothing special and the pasta dishes are OK, the best of all of them is a toss between the carbonara and the veal parmigiana. Mimmo's tries really hard to set themselves apart as a fine Italian cuisine but it just doesn't seem to have that much going for it. Again, I HIGHLY recommend the desserts, namely the cannolis and the zeppoles: fantastic every time. The service isn't spot on. I've found myself waiting at the take out counter for 10 minutes or more to pick up food. Even then the counter staff seems very distracted. The waitstaff is very young and don't seem to know how to manage a busy establishment. I think they could use a bit more on the spot management to get the service up to par. Otherwise, great location, outdoor seating and no bad food. If you run out of Italian options try Mimmo's. But just know it won't be very cheap.
Whenever I'm in St. Albans I always eat at Mimmo's. Not for the pizza, although that is good, but for something that's not on the menu. Ask for the chicken francaise. It is so delicious! When you ask for it, the waitstaff will look at you funny, but trust me. They will make it for you. I've been to Italy many times and while this is American-Italian and not from Napoli or Roma, this is more NY style, which is delicious! Mimmo's has the best Italian food north of Burlington, and definitely the best in Franklin County by far.

Jeff’s Maine Seafood

Great historic charm! Excellent food and service! Oysters on the half shell were fresh and superb! Prime rib cooked to perfection and baked stuffed haddock melt in your mouth. We'll be back!
Stopped in during a road trip to visit the site of the famous St. Alban's raid, the only Civil War battle launched from Canada... FYI it was a LOT easier to find Jeff's then to find anybody who knew about the raid. Jeff's Maine Seafood was a wonderful place for a Vermont Saturday lunch. Great ambience and decor in a heritage buidling -- sort of funky brothel/speakeasy style. Jeff's is on the corner overlooking the town square. Service was friendly and attentive. Menu was beguiling -- as the name suggests, it's seafood heavy... and the food was excellent. Also, a splendid wine list -- no doubt enhanced by having a pretty good wine shop attached to the restaurant. I was delighted to find Peachy Canyon Zinfandel by the glass -- a great California offering NOT available in Canada. Started with a seafood bisque -- more creamy than a lobster bisque but smoother than a chowder -- with yummy little Vermont oyster crackers. For mains we had specials of the day. Mine: grilled scallops and shrimp with balsamic reduction with quinoa salad and grilled ramps (wild scallions). The grilling was a high temp sear -- lots of bold flavors while the seafood stayed moist and tender. Husband had the fish taco wrap -- upside -- grilled fish, matched with mango salsa was nice. Downside -- could have used more kick in the side salsa (not a red sauce) and coleslaw side was so-so. Horseradish or citrus would have made the slaw sing. Too full to try the salted caramel cheesecake for dessert, alas.
I am sure the cook has burnt off all his taste buds. We had two of the specials offered. My husband had the Fra Diablo...we asked for the hot pepper flakes to be kept out since the tomato sauce was listed as spicy. It was still too hot, the scallops in the dish were like little rubber balls, cooked to death. I had a curried sea food dish, the menu did not mention it but the soup like concoction was so hot it could remove paint from the walls. They had put triangles of burnt pita right in the liquid. The waitperson was indignant when we asked for a bowl to put the mussel shells in. Most restaurants serve some form of bread in a basket, this place gave us each a plate with a small piece of bread, nuked to heat, why else was it so rubbery. The salad good. The dessert very good. Will not be going there in the near future, not for the $71.90 cents spent on 2 entrees, 2 glasses of wine and 1 dessert.

What took me so long to try this place? Great, flavorful hamburgers, nice salads. Good beer selection. Casual decor, great place to bring big groups of friends and family.. They don't care if you pull all the tables together. Waitresses are friendly and kept an eye on us. My hamburger was simply delicious.
THIS PLACE IS GREAT. Usually pretty quiet for a bar, but thats part of its charm. The food is absolutely amazing and the service is even better!
Waitstaff, although friendly, was very forgetful with condiments and add-Ons. Ordered porterhouse steak special medium rare and sent it back well done only to be returned the same way. Very thin cut and not worth the price. By the second return my dinner was cold and I was uninterested in eating. Very cold dining seating atmosphere. My husband is a chef at a local eatery in Montpelier so he gets some of the mistake but Twice?!?! Awful experience.

Stopped at this gas station location on my way home from Quebec and won't make that mistake again. Having been to the Maine locations, I expected something a little better. While the counter girl was friendly, it was the worst steak and cheese sub I have ever had. I expect a little something better than a Steak'um heated up with some cheese thrown on top. I couldn't even receive American cheese when I asked. I'm not a fan of provolone. I didn't finish the sandwich and had to grab a bag a chips to hold me over. Stupid check out system as well. You have to wait in line and pay at the register in the convenience store, not at the Amato's counter. Mind you the line is a mile long because this must be the only place to get gas and groceries in St. Albans. I have yet to find decent food along I-89 Vermont.
