Hands down the best breakfast place you can go to in Rutland county. Nowhere else comes close (although there are other good places too). I make it a point to stop here when I'm in Vermont. There's plenty of parking, but you might have to wait a bit if you hit it during peak. The longest I ever waited was thirty minutes with a party of five on Mother's Day. Otherwise, you're usually right in. I think they only take reservations for large parties. Good food, good service, and friendly staff. Try the Mexican or Montreal Scrambles, huge portions.

We brought two of our kids here for a late Monday breakfast. Finally a breakfast both kids loved! Darling daughter had the house omelet. Handsome son had a breakfast sandwich. This kid is usually a bottomless pit but he was quite satisfied with the sandwich. I had steak and eggs, they were cooked perfect. Only uncomfortable moment was hearing the kitchen staff say when ever someone orders Medium or Medium well (my order) the waitress should let out a big sigh because its a waste of meat. *yikes* But they did find an order of sausage and biscuits for my dearest. Food was amazing and waitress was a doll!

3.5 stars. My husband and I ate breakfast here on the way home from a weekend in Vermont. This place is a nice family breakfast place. We split pancakes, french toast, and hash browns. They use fresh Vermont maple syrup. Yummy yummy! Service was nice and quick. The bathroom was clean though a bit oddly decorated. We'll probably return as this place has a convenient location on the way home to NJ.

We did the basics this morning - blueberry pancakes (short stack), hash, bacon. All three were the best I've ever had anywhere!! Bacon was awesome, thick cut and flavorful. Fresh blueberries in perfect pancakes, and the hash was spectacular. Prices are very reasonable and serving size is very good. We will definitely return when we're back in the area (within 100 miles)

The portions are generous and the food is delicious every time around. The service is always quick too. The pancakes are a must try along with the sausage gravy with biscuits.

You have not had a good eggs Benedict until you have had the Johnny Boy! Thick sliced Canadian bacon, and poached eggs on an English muffin with "Salsa cheese" which was a bit like melted cheddar jack with a hint of Sriracha. Our waitress indicated that was her favorite item on the menu and it did not disappoint! A perfect post skiing breakfast! The hashbrowns were pan seared instead of fried, and although the later is my preference these were still well seasoned and tasty! Other favorites at our table included the mimosa, the sausage gravy and biscuits, and the build your own omelette. The coffee was good and strong - I swear even the decaf made my toes tingle! A homey atmosphere and excellent service made for a perfect breakfast experience. As seasonal out-of-towners this may be our Rutland go-to from now on!

Yum yum yum. Will return to here if I ever go back to Vermont! The Johnny boy- one of the most popular breakfasts here! The poached egg and Canadian bacon taste special and just so good! pesto omelette- can't go wrong if you love omelette ! Biggg veggies omelette served with home fries and toasts. This pancake house looks exactly like what a pancake house should look like. Cozy atmosphere and design. Def gotta try their pancake next time!!

Help!!! I'm in a food coma!!!! Very quaint joint in the beating heart of Vermont. Got the chocolate chip pancakes with a side of home fries and let me tell ya I was not disappointed. The authentic Vermont maple syrup got my tastebuds revving. The waitress was a sweet heart. And Johnny boy (the owner) was a savage in the kitchen.

Johnny Boy's is a quaint old-fashion family style restaurant. The decor is understated but pleasant. The service was warm and friendly. It's like having a meal with your favorite aunt. They make the most delicious french toast we've ever had. I normally skim over the country potatoes in my dishes but theirs is so tasty I almost finished mine. The next time we're in the area we will definitely pay them another visit.

Hands down the best bfast spot in rutland. This is the second time I've been here and both times the food has been delicious. The service is also incomparable. So far we've ordered the omelettes and french toast and pancakes and the portions are huge and most importantly they taste great. Fresh products and real products. One thing they do different with their omelet is that they mix the egg into the filling, which i think is great! Will definitely be back for more for sure.

7 of us stopped for breakfast on the Sunday after Christmas. It was crazy busy with a line out the door to the parking lot. We only had a 10 minute wait and the food was excellent with very generous servings. The wait staff was friendly and always kept our coffee cups full. We were never rushed and all of us enjoyed our meals. The only "negative" was a few skiers who were rude, impatient, and tried to cut in the waiting line.

After a stint in the Rutland Hospital Emergency Room I was in need of a serious comfort breakfast. A nurse recommended Jiohnny Boy's as an excellent local breakfast joint. He certainly pointed me in the right direction. My wife ordered the ridiculously well priced lobster omelette and I had the seasonal pumpkin pancakes. Man, did they hit the spot. While I hope to never go to the Rutland Hospital again, I'm sure to stop at Johnny Boy's if I'm in Rutland for breakfast.

Today was my first time there, I thought it was great. My fiance had the Greek omelet, I had the gut buster. Both meals were terrific, we will be back soon. Oh, and if you like bloody Marys, they serve a very good one.

Perhaps my expectations are too high for Rutland Vermont, nonetheless I left this established with much to be desired. For a breakfast place, it was surprising that they didn't offer a choice of tea when I asked for some. Their Eggs Benedict (named the Johnny Boy) was subpar compared to others that I have had. Also I was seated in the perfect place to see the kitchen. One of the prep cooks was eating as he was preparing food. He wasn't wearing gloves at all while handling different food items nor washing his hands between.I was probably there for a half and hour and saw him eat at least four different times. Once he even turned his back to ingest some of the food he was preparing. Moreover, he even come out and help himself to a soda. I was appalled by his behavior and I will not return.

Food was great. Downside was service. Very slow right from the start. Took 10 minutes just for drink orders and another 10 to take our breakfast order. Food is good , pricing wasnt bad but beware of the long wait times.

I was introduced to this place by the people who work at the econolodge in mendon and now it is an essential part of every killington ski trip. The food is great, the helpings are generous.

The lobster spinach omelet was awesome. Pancakes are light and fluffy. Consider sharing because the portions are huge.

OYG. I can't say enough about how god Johnny Boys food and service are. We ate there on a Saturday morning and we liked it so much we went back Sunday. The food is absolutely amazing. I've eaten in my share of diners and breakfast places. This place is at the very top of my list. I'm more of an Okemo fan so I don't really ever want to go back up to Rutland but I'm even considering driving the 7 hours back up there just so I can go to Johnny Boys. It was that good. If there is even one tiny thing wrong with the place.....there aren't enough tables so you might have to wait. We went on a very busy Sunday and only had to wait about 10 mintues though.

I stopped here for breakfast on friday morning on my way to ski. I ordered a BEC sandwich and coffee. It did the trick and was pretty quick. I will come back for food as it is a good alternative to anything on the access road. The owner was there and greeted me while I ate at the counter. The decor is a homage to the Godfather, John Gotti, Goodfellas, and the Rat Pack !!

Don't let the exterior fool you. This is a very good breakfast/lunch joint with a unique atmosphere. The food comes quick and the service is friendly. Try the lunch specials or get an omelet. You will not be sorry!

The owner Johnny is here most of the time, and this location is a lot better than the Killington location. Food at Johnny boy's is always good, no matter what you order.

This place is awesome! Our group had breakfast there following the 100 on 100 Relay, in other words, we were starving. The staff was personable, very friendly and outgoing. We felt as though we were among friends. Our food was served quickly and was delicious! The omelets are like no other, fluffy and packed full of goodness! The atmosphere completely relaxed. You've gotta visit Johnny Boy's!

This is a solid breakfast spot. Service is good, food is always tasty. Our favorites are the strawberry pancake rollups, the house made corned beef hash, and the Taylor Pork Roll Egg and Cheese Sandwich (which reminds us of the time we lived in Philly). Definitely one of our "go to" locations for breakfast.

Amazing! Absolutely the best breakfast we have ever had. We had the French toast with mascarpone (I had it with spiced apples, my husband had it with amaretto and strawberries). Great atmosphere, wonderful service, awesome menu. I'm just sad we're only passing through so we can't go again and again. :)
