Black Krim Tavern

Reviews:
Black Krim is a cozy little restaurant tucked away on a side street in Randolph. It has a romantic feel, with soft lighting, mellow music, and eccentric artwork. The food is always creative, fresh, and exciting. They offer various vegetarian, vegan, and gluten-free options which makes it a great place to go, regardless of your dietary restrictions. The staff is always friendly and knowledgeable about the drinks and food which makes for a more enjoyable experience. I just can't get enough of the elder fashion, their elderberry infused old fashioned. They have a solid selections of beers and wines. I love the small plate concept because their options are always so interesting and varied, it is hard to decide on just one. The desserts are always tasty, too. One of my all-time favorites was the lavender creme brûlée.
Great meal last night at the Black Krim. Worth trying again and again as the menu is always changing with what's available locally. Generous portions and good beer and wine list. Loved it.
Having visited each of the fifty states (as well as many countries), I have had the opportunity to dine in a wide variety of restaurants and must say that our family's recent visit to the Black Krim Tavern was genuinely one of my top ten dining experiences! The initial basis for deciding to eat there was primarily its location (just a few minutes off I-89), as we traveled to Manchester airport after skiing in Vermont; however, we would now recommend it as a worthy destination of its own! The eclectic mix of tables/chairs, lighting, art and decorations makes for a fun, comfortable environment, where diners can sit comfortably (we opted for the large stuffed arm chairs/couch with oversized coffee table) for extended periods of time and enjoy private conversation. There are a nice variety of beer/wine/cocktail options, as well as many non-alcoholic (e.g. ginger beer) ones as well. However, as with any restaurant, in the end, it all comes down to the food; and that is where Black Krim Tavern earns its high marks! While the menu is not several pages, it does feature a nice variety of beef, seafood, chicken, pork and vegetarian appetizers/entrees, with each being unique in their preparation, taste and presentation. Sarah, the owner/chef is a wonderful culinary artist, with much of the organic food coming from her spouse's nearby farm. Given the quality, portions and effort associated with each item, the prices are surprisingly reasonable (e.g. appetizers around $8, entrees around $20 and desserts around $6). As I perused some of the other reviews, I noted the comment about service not being quick and would suggest since each dish is specially made to order (individual preferences/requests were welcome), the restaurant is not one which lends itself to a quick meal; rather it is a place to visit when one wants to step away from the fast-paced, hurried world. . . which is why we can't wait to return to Black Krim Tavern and enjoy another memorable meal! :-)

Panini's were very good! Friendly service. Beautiful, clean atmosphere. Only drawback was that our clothes smelled greasy afterwards.
Amazing breakfast! Sweet girl took our order from counter, then dropped it off with us. We had 2 daily specials which were corned beef with Vermont cheddar omelettes and my son had carrot cake pancakes-we shared! The interior was beautiful, clean and interesting with photos on the wall in front our table depicting the flood of 1927. The Amtrak train ran right outside the restaurant. We brought home chocolate chip cookies that were delicious with huge semi sweet chunks. Terrific all around! I'd love to come back and try one of their sandwiches too!

Three Bean Cafe

24 Pleasant St

Reviews:
Three Bean is a great little coffee shop, tucked away just off main st. They have really good pastries and baked goods all made in-house. Love going in on a Sunday morning and reading the paper over a cup of coffee and morning glory muffin.
Comfy little coffee shop tucked in a spacious old home (looks like a b&b from the street) in a quaint Central Vermont town. Just the right size for this town, and sufficiently busy and high spirited. Very comfortable atmosphere, an adequate variety of pastries, and a nice selection of beverages. My two biggest cons about this place are very minor - only a few brews of coffee (I like light roasts and they only have a dark and a 'mild' which is still pretty dark), and no agave as a sweetener. Little things that would have nudged them up to 5 stars - overall a great little place and still leaps and bounds above any S-Bucks.
Tomato soup billed as having pesto and ricotta topping came cheese and herb free. As presented, it was merely canned tomatoes mixed with some sauteed celery and onion- no spice whatever. Could have complained to the management, however, he was busy counting money on the food prep side of the counter in full view of patrons. It's on Pleasant Street, however, the experience was most unpleasant.

It was exactly as expected. Not great not bad. Was just decent. Had General Tso chicken and Sichuan Chicken combo plates. Should of gotten the white rice. We were the only ones here so service was fine. Typical VT chat about the weather. Oh dinner for two $15....great price.
