It goes without saying that this is the best place to eat in Northfield. It's also one of the better places to eat in central Vermont. The food is a bit pricey, but the quality and taste is exceptional. Their new TBLT is one of the best sandwiches I've had and their fish and chips are great! This is one of those places you just have to try.

Yum. Yum yum yum yum yum. Northfield, Vermont just turned into hipster central thanks to Kevin and John at The Knotty Shamrock! Delicious food, an awesome range of beer and beverage options and a warm, classic Irish pub atmosphere make TKS the most happening place in Central Vermont! It's the ultimate spot to "watch the game," hang out with friends or chill in the back with a hot date! Family friendly and friggin fabulous. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!

So we went here for dinner tonight. Arrived at7:45, the restaurant wasn't super busy. There was some trivia going on , and it was pretty loud music wise, but that's their vibe, and although not my kind of atmosphere, it is what it is and the regular patrons seemed to be enjoying themselves. We were immediately greeted and handed menus. Decent selection of food. We placed our drink order, of water for me, root beer for boyfriend, and beer for friend. My water came right away, I'm assuming the waitress is able to get the water herself, but the soda and beer took sbout 15 mins to deliver. This should've been my first tip off. We ordered wings as an appetizer. They took forever and although not horrible, not great . Def needed more of the marinade/sauce , which I believe was sone kind of bourbon. I ordered an house salad with grilled chicken, the bf a burger, and friend steak tips with some weird pasta and tomatoes . The food took over an hour to arrive, again, not busy in the restaurant. We even asked at one point what the delay was and was told the steak tips take longer cuz they were cooked well done. I understand that it will take a few mins longer, but certainly not over an hour. My Salad, very basic was Good. The chicken was tender, and I enjoyed the dressing. My first dressing choice they had run out of, I would say based on the taste of dressing this could well be homemade and I liked it. For an hours wait , I was hoping for a little more, but ... My bf burger was charred on one side and barely done on the other. He ate about half , only out of near starvation. The fries were a bit overdone too , but my opinion on his fries shouldn't matter. But in all fairness he didn't like them very much either. My friends steak tip dinner , looked gross . He didn't like it, and said the sauce on it was weird. It must've really been terrible because he eats everything and he was famished when we got there. When the food arrived , I asked for the check, as I was worried how long our waitress would disappear for, She wasn't rude, just kinda uninterested. When she took our plates there was clearly alot left on the plate, and my friend commented he didn't like it. She made no effort to apologize , or offer a substitute etc. If she had to be honest, I think we wouldn't take her up on it, as we didn't have another hour to wait for more substandard food. In the interest of full disclosure, I am from Boston . I am probably s little more impatient than the regular crowd. Vermont is def a laid back place, and I appreciate that . But I would think that anyone would be annoyed by my experience. I think this is probably a great place for a few beers, and simple food, for someone who is planning on spending the majority of the night there. The trivia guy was engaging, and was the best part of the night. Without that distraction , I would've been tempted to walk out(of course I never would). I wouldn't be surprised if I saw this on the next episode of bar rescue, they could use it.

We stopped here before going to Norwich University for a basketball game after driving up from Boston for 3hrs, and I'm definitely glad we waited till we got here. Both of us got the Reuben sandwich, this is not to be missed! Perfect, in almost every way. SO GOOD. Homemade everything and the meat was so tender that it didn't even need to be sliced on a slicer, it was simply hand shredded off. I haven't had corned beef so good in a long long time. It also came out piping hot- A+ in my book. The fries were good too, but let's be honest, that SHOULD BE always the case. We found the service to be fine, our waitress clearly didn't let the food sit in the window for long, and I always appreciate that. It had a pretty decent crowd for a cold thursday night too. There's almost no chance I'll ever be back in Northfield, but if I am, I'll be back. The other food that passed by us looked really good as well.
