A delightful place to stay and eat. I have found the service excellent and friendly. The food specials are always a treat.
On our tour through Vermont before the deluge, we happened to choose to stay on one of the Champlain Islands. This was an incredible surprise for dinner. Such a lovely atmosphere and the food was very yummy. Oh, to remember to come up here again and possibly book a cabin...
The view of lake Champlain was wonderful with lots of birds and lovely landscaping. Food and service were perfect. We started with an appetizer of radishes and volcanic sea salt with butter and sprouts. Great flavor. My husband had the salmon which was excellent with a delightful sauce - a mixture of mustard and soy with hints of lime. My filet was perfectly cooked and melt-In-your-mouth tender. The garlic Parmesan mashed potato were te beat I've had. We both had bistro (smaller) servings which were perfect for us.

We stopped by Papa Pete's on our vacation in Vermont, as we had a hankering for ice cream. They had the standard flavors of soft serve - chocolate, vanilla, and twist. They were quite tasty! They also have an impressive array of burgers with interesting names and toppings, but since we had just eaten dinner, we didn't have one. However, later in the week, we got some of the poutine, which was very good.

Had our honeymoon here 20 years ago. Dont worry, this review is not going to be that old. We are old but this review is really about our current stay. I should add that we have stayed here a few other times but all of these times were before yelp. Ok. Still with me? Here comes the review of our stay for our 20th anniversary: Great place. Breakfast was included in the price and was awesome. Lots of fresh and ripe fruit, eggs, potatoes, bacon, ham, pancakes, bread, cereals, Danishes, yogurt, and much more. They have a canoe and kayak to rent. Also DVDs to borrow and play on your tv. A hot tub and lawn area with chairs out front. Room included a gorgeous patio and jacuzzi tub. It was all well maintained and clean. Friendly staff were super helpful in keeping us entertained. Hope to be back for our 30th and 40th maybe even 50th anniversaries as well.
Room: 3 stars Food: 5 stars The room we originally booked wasn't faced with the lake but had a nicer bathroom with a jacuzzi and a functional electric fireplace. The staff talked us into switching to a more expensive room by the lake, which indeed has a nice lake view but the bathroom was a bit out of shape - just a small shower place and a lousy shower head, and an out-of-order fireplace. We enjoyed a nice afternoon on the balcony watching the sunset. However, we should have had a better room for the money we paid for. After the owner's son came over to fix the fireplace in vain, the owner showed up shortly to help. Figuring that the fireplace was irreparable, the son kept asking the owner to move us to another room but the owner didn't agree. It's just an electric fireplace, no big deal, but considering that we tipped them big time at dinner, it's disappointing that they left only saying having a good night. The staff was friendly and helpful. We requested a mini fridge and it was delivered shortly. Dinner at their restaurant was the highlight of our stay there. We expected ok food at a remote place like this, but - wow, food was heavenly delicious. Two appetizers we had - asparagus and mussels - knocked our socks off. Caesar salad couldn't be more fresh. The parmesan crisp on the side was unforgettably good. The entrees - roasted chicken and halibut - were unbelievably delicious. Next time I'm stopping by is for the food. Compliments to the chef!
we went late august- weather was perfect! sat outside at the restaurant by the water- had 3 beers, a salad with shrimp, a burger and another standard salad with no meat. the food came in a plastic TOGO container and we were starving bec it was portioned incorrectly, so we ordered 2 more kids grilled cheeses. THE SALAD WITH SHRIMP WAS OVER 20$. if your going to charge me over 20$ for a few pieces of shrimp (that were undercooked) and some iceberg lettuce it better be on a plate, with a metal fork, and a side of bread. will not eat there again because of this, but would go back for drinks.
