This place was gross. I walked in and it was not clean at all. I put that aside and ordered some food anyway. When I got home the food smelled funny and even my wife was like this has a bad taste to it. After picking through what I ordered we like nothing and I have had a lot of Chinese in my time. I would tell people to go the other way and not bother.

I'm looking forward to eating at the China Star when I visit Montpelier this year. The food is really good, and the people who work there are nice and friendly.

Great Hot and Sour soup with chopped fresh scallions on top. Soup made with good mushrooms, tree ears, pork, tofu, egg....Also great shrimp egg rolls, and steamed chicken with peapods, broccoli and bok choi. Nice family owners and staff.

For what it is, this place is fine. This is your average hole in the wall greasy Chinese restaurant. There is limited deli-style bench seating. The food is not the best but consider that this is in Montpelier, not NYC, and it makes no pretense at being upscale. It is what it is and it's good enough for that.

Good food. Fast, decent Chinese food with big portions. It definitely exceeded my expectations. Good service.

Great service whether take out or eat in. Plenty of food for the money. The mixed veggies and jumbo shrimp are totally delicious!

I have eaten at this Chinese place for many years. The food can range in quality depending on the day. Some times the food might be over done and some times underdone. Take heed ordering the general toas chicken could be a gamble. Some times the chicken is stringy. All that being said I still like this place when I am too tied after work to want to worry about cooking. I recommend this place if you don't expect too much and are not looking for something too high class. Also keep in mind this is mostly a take out joint but you can sit and et of you so desire.

I don't really expect much in Northfield, VT as this is one of less than a dozen choices in the whole town. But the mei fun was SWIMMING in greasy sauce, and mei fun is supposed to be seasoned, not bathed. Also, it was freezing in there - just because the kitchen gets hot doesn't mean the customers need to freeze their dumplings off. In fairness to them, the clientel might be the problem - the menu says "lo mein" and puts "spaghetti" in parenthesis. If you're an adult in America and get confused at what lo mein is, you shouldn't be eating food at all.

Not 100% sure, but guessing they use MSG. I usually have a reaction to MSG, and their food caused the same reaction. The hot & sour soup was 'eh'... super dark opaque liquid that was super salty. I thought I would like their dumplings because they didn't have that super thick wrapper, but the stuffing of the dumpling was dark and generic. The soy sauce like liquid had a texture that it actually stuck to the dumpling... a bit strange. I did like their beef chow fun. Not many places in Central Vermont for chow fun.

One of the only places that is open until 11pm. Everything closes by 9pm in town. Very good General Tsos chicken; very good hot and sour soup. Go across the street to Shaws supermarket to pick up beer and wine and you have a complete meal!

ok after coming to town for a week or so, i felt like eating asian food so i gave this place a small chance. I order the special for the magolian beef and when my dishes came out, it didn;t look so good. My rice was super dry and the beef was chewy and there were NO scallion in it and there were red and green bellpepper. What the FCUK is that? and the whole meal for lunch cost me $15 buck and i was so disappointed with the aweful taste and i can't believe the vermont people would even step there foots in the store..i am so gross out by just thinking about it..PLEASE DO NOT EAT HERE, IT IS PLAIN GROSS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Outshines the other appalling Chinese food options in the 10 mile radius quite soundly. A greasy little dive with a mean Tofu and Garlic Sauce... They serve up an overfried crab rangoon (but made on site so the filling is supreme). Excellent veggie spring roll. Most meat items have been disappointing to my palate... but the noodles are occasionally very good. Zero ambience. Owners are nice.

Chinese Cuisine

The popularity of Chinese food in America can be adjudicated by the appearance of China Town in many major cities in the United State of America. The popular trend of ordering or opting for Chinese take away food isn't unknown in America. Chinese take away food comes to rescue when you're too tired from work or too exhausted to cook. No one can resist the temptation of eating spicy noodles, shrimp, chicken, beef or pork cooked in the sweet and spicy sauce. The cooking method of authentic Chinese food is a lot different compared to what is served in America.

Generally, Chinese use dark meat small bones and organs to cook dishes but this changes when you are eating American-Chinese fusion food prepared using white boneless meat cooked with broccoli, carrots and onions. Back in China, the food is less spicy and oily as they favor steaming and braising method for cooking the most popular dishes. So, if you have a taste for authentic Chinese food, then try finding a real Chinese restaurant in the city. You can also try the most popular fusion Chinese food like Pecking Duck, Chicken Feet, Hot Pot, Shrimp Dumpling Soup, Mapo Tofu, Wontons, Chop Suey, Egg Rolls and not to forget Fortune Cookies.

There are not many restaurants in America serving authentic Chinese food. A little research on Restaurant Listings directory can help you locate the best Chinese restaurants in the city. Chinese cuisine is continuously evolving, and you can find a variety of dishes categorized as the food for lactose intolerant, gluten intolerant, vegan, vegetarian, and diabetic friendly. So, if you have a group of friends with different taste patterns, save the hassle and visit the nearest Chinese restaurant in your city.
