Stopped here for breakfast on a visit to Middlebury. Service was quick and friendly (unlike some other places in Mid), food was good and portions plentiful. A heat start to the morning! I had the oatmeal with fruit and my wife the poached eggs. We were satisfied with the food and the service. All around a great spot. Definitely recommend!

A family favorite for years. For generations, really. If you only drive by this place, you owe it to yourself to stop in and sit at the counter or in a booth to check out the vast menu. So many options: dinners, blue plate specials, sandwiches, breakfasts...and a colossal array of desserts. The tollhouse pie, heated up, is not to be missed. If, like me, you only get to this part of world every few years, you may note the building getting bigger and bigger. Why? They grow to meet the need of increased customers. With made from scratch meals, professional staff, and a selection of to-go items including baked goods and maple syrup, I wish every town had a Rosie's. But then, Rosie's wouldn't be special if there were a million of them. Get out of the rut of chain dining (other than A&W up the road, of course), and give Rosie's a try. The thing I hate...I have to drive over 700 miles to get here.

Passing thru the area on the way to a hike and this place was recommend to me. Rosie's is a perfect diner stop for breakfast/ lunch. Old school charming feel. We ordered two chicken sandwiches. The grilled and fried. Both good but I suggest the grilled because you get a bigger portion. Nice staff, would come again!

Omg....the best omelet during my 12 years of living in vermont. Light and fluffy, great bacon and potatoes and really good coffee

Breakfast is like home cooking. Fast and friendly service . One of the biggest thing that stands out to me is that my coffee cup and the family drinks never made it to half empty. Karen goes above and beyond. I usually don't right reviews but this was well worth my time as she made our experience wanting more!! We will be back for sure!!

Delicious comfort food, from the sea or the farm. I had the open faced turkey sandwich with fries and gravy. It was very good, and service was very good.

We just moved to town and are excited to check out some new local favorites. My husband found Rosie's online, so we thought we'd give it a shot. My husband got the mac & cheese, and I got the hot turkey sandwich, our old stand bys which I personally think can tell you a lot about the quality of food you will get. Turkey sandwich came with real turkey gravy and moist chunks of roast turkey atop stuffing and bread, side of homemade orange-cranberry sauce, and I got delicious homemade mashed potatoes on the side. Hubby's mac and cheese was thoroughly cheesy, not at all watery like some can be. Also delish. I am looking forward to many more trips back to Rosie's!

Rosie's Restaurant seems to be in the perfect place. It doesn't seem like there are many food options in these parts so if you happen to be around here on a weekend, prepare to wait as this is the hot place to be. Rosie's is the definition of a roadside diner. They have been serving the Middlebury community (and those of us not in the community) for over 30 years with quality food at reasonable prices. Why not give them a try? We came here our first official morning in VT. Met an uncle of Sue's for breakfast and were happy to get seated as soon as we walked in. I started out with a big old mug of hot chocolate with whipped cream on top as I'm not a huge coffee drinker. That hit the spot on a chilly morning. For breakfast I decided on the Stone's Corn ($7.95). Grilled Corned Beef Hash, Two Eggs, Toast & Jam. Side note. One of the breads they have for toast is made in house. Get that one. I believe it is a honey wheat. Killer bread. The portions are nice sized. Not too big. Not too small. Unfortunately no homemade jam. This seems like a place that would have that. Can't ask for everything I guess. Service was very prompt and friendly. Sue's mom works here so she knew a few member's of the staff due to that. This is a very family friendly environment. Good food, good prices and a good location. I give Rosie's a solid thumbs up.

Eggs were over cooked, Bloody Mary consisted of tomato juice only, no vodka; I asked for homefries on the side and I got them in a pile in the middle of my plate, they were cold and rubbery; the breakfast griller omelet was bland, very little bacon and greasy. Asked for wheat toast and white. I didn't realize a table of two could be so complicating. Should have stayed at camp.

This is a charming restaurant just down the street from the hotel we stay at whenever we're in Middlebury. We have eaten here a number of times and have never been disappointed, It's menu is quite extensive and full of all your diner favorites. It does have a number of a unique and tasty desserts every time I'm there, and the service is always top notch.

Rosie's is a great little diner to bring the family to, and features some nice twists on old classics, particularly with its open face sandwiches such as the turkey and meatloaf. The turkey sandwich in particular features chunky pieces of pulled turkey rather than just sliced deli meat, and is topped with stuffing and cranberry sauce. I'm also a big fan of there chicken and biscuits. I would recommend avoiding items such as there spaghetti, which is cooked just 20 minutes past al dente and tastes like it might have come out of a can. Otherwise, the service is also friendly (per my experience till now), and they are very tolerant of young children (which may be good or bad depending on your perspective).

Rosie's is your typical charming breakfast place. I had my typical fruit salad and toast - but everyone else's breakfasts looked wonderful! Beautiful pancakes, bacon, eggs and potatoes. The service was quick and polite!

Stay away. Driving home from a long weekend in Burlington we had already been on the road for over an hour. Having only had a cup of coffee at the hotel, we were ready for a Vermont country breakfast to keep us going on our way back to Boston. What a terrible mistake, as this place is the farthest thing from what we were expecting. The service was as slow as could be. Mind you, not due to a crowded venue or anything like that. Our waitress was continually hanging out in by the front entrance checking her cell phone, chatting with the owner, and conversing with other patrons. We had to bring our check/credit card to her as it had been sitting on our table for a good 7-8 minutes waiting for her to come by and pick it up. The food was awful. I ordered eggs/toast/hash. The hash was canned hash. Literally, it was the exact kind you'd get from the supermarket. Nothing at all original or exciting about what I was served, and quite frankly, for the price I was expecting some homemade goodness. Nope. The wife got a vegetable omelet. Ooof. The vegetables inside were hardly even cooked. There were clumps of cheese. Thick, nasty clumps. And the 'omelet' was very watery and basically looked like scrambled eggs gone bad. If you have Rosie's in your sights, turn around and peruse Middlebury for a better option. If you are a local, move. Or better yet, stay home and cook your own breakfast.

The venue is nice and the food is okay, but nothing extraordinary. In fact, our waitress acted like she was doing us a favor the whole time. Then I ordered a single pancake and it turned out to be 4 dollars! She didn't tell me it would be that expensive, or I would just have bought the pancake meal which was only 3 dollars more. Our hostess was nice, but I don't think I'll be going here again.

Stopped here for a late dinner while traveling home from Burlington. I got the chicken and biscuits and my travel companion got the fish and chips. Service was prompt and friendly. The chicken and biscuits was delicious with light flaky biscuits, big chunks of chicken and a mix of veggies in a white gravy. It came with a side of cranberry sauce that was really good. The fish and chips were also good with a big portion and crispy fries. Prices were really reasonable. My companion had recommended this restaurant after eating there a few weeks before and said the sandwiches, especially the burgers were also very tasty. Will definitely eat here if I'm in the neighborhood again.

I love this place. It's cozy and comfortable and they have amazing comfort food - just what you need when you're stressing out over all the studying you need to do. The service, unfortunately, varies. I have had both wonderful experiences and so-so experiences with various waiters. They are always fast but not necessarily friendly, which is the only flaw, in my opinion. When you're in the mood for a good home-cooked meal, Rosie's is the place for you. And don't forget dessert - a slice of homemade pie a la mode with a cup of coffee and you're set!

For a Middlebury Restaurant, the price to quality ratio is not too bad. For a decent breakfast or lunch it's not bad family style food. Given the dearth of decent restaurants in Middlebury, this is definitely a place worth stopping at, and they have take-out which is just about unheard of elsewhere in town. The service is ridiculously slow, but if you keep on your server, you will get what you ordered eventually. The bottomless cup of coffee is a great feature.

As a local, I love Rosie's restaurant. The food isn't gourmet, but if it comes out not to your liking, they will gladly fix it for you. The wait staff is wonderful, lovely people, who will chat you up and become your friends. I love having coffee with the local people mid-afternoon. The coffee is delicious. The scallops, deep-fried, are as good as coastal seafood, and their french fries, served extra crispy, are to die for. Their burgers and homemade cole slaw are delicious. I have never found the service to be that slow, and I enjoy the comfortable booths and jovial atmosphere. Don't expect gourmet at a inexpensive coffee-house-type diner. They will try to accomodate you in any way they can. We love Rosie's.

I've eaten here many times of the years either with friends that live in the area or just traveling through and I've always been happy with the service and the food. Once I came in off of my motorcycle in the pouring rain and it was nice to find that there was room to hang my dripping motorcycle suit. Not criteria for most folks, I know. Overall I would call it a comfort food restaurant. Good solid meals, but nothing fancy.

Best breakfast I have had in many moons. Biscuits and gravy were fantastic. The sausage was great and the apple pancakes truly remarkable.

The food there is just horrible. A sure sign of an owner that could care less and a chef (uh...cook) that cares even less. Last time I was there (about 4 years ago) I had a turkey dinner that was nothing short of embarassing. The worst ever. Breakfast is ok, but stick to the toast and eggs. Hard to screw that up even on a bad day.

For a small town local restaurant you would expect better, instead you are confronted with mediocre food that should be cheap, but isn't. Breakfast is fine--hard to mess that up, lunch fine as well soups sandwiches, but dinner is an utter disgrace. Flavorless burnt steak for $16--I asked for Medium. The ambiance is sort of corny, it feels like it is mimicking a small town restaurant like itself....
