Was visiting Middlebury to get in some cycling and stopped in here as we were leaving. What an amazing place! Hands down the best bagels I've ever had in New England! Ordered a breakfast sandwich - just amazing. The service was also wonderful - over the top kind. Quaint atmosphere as well, not the typical New York City bagel shop which is more reminiscent of the Wall Street trading floor than a place to buy food. Highly recommended. Will definitely be returning the next time I'm in town.

I grew up in Middlebury, eating here regularly. I now live in Burlington, where food options are more plentiful and varied, however I still have yet to find a meat, egg and cheese bagel sandwich that measures up to the Bagelegger. Big fluffy fresh bagels, generous slathers of house-made cream cheese, classic large omelettes and fast friendly service make this the go-to casual breakfast spot in Middlebury.

The Middleberry Bagel is a staple in this town. Go there early to avoid the lines especially on a weekend or else you will be hanging out behind hung over college people and little kids going to T-ball practice. The bagels are made daily and delicious, the bagel sandwiches are exceptional, the breakfast sandwich aptly armed, Bagelegger, is the staple. But pancakes and standard breakfast fare also do the trick. Donuts are the best in town and make Dunkins pale in comparison.

Sue, her mom and myself came here for breakfast on Halloween morning. Her family knows the folks who own this place and we ended up talking for them a bit while we were here. It is great to be in a part of the country where everyone seems to know everyone else. She and I split one of their omelets with a pumpkin bagel on the side. We also splurged and got a Maple Cream donut as well because they looked so damn good. They were damn good. They also usually have fresh cream donuts which I would have loved to try, but they were out of them on this visit. It was so nice of them to split our meal in half. Completely unexpected and you don't really see that all that often in this day and age. A good local establishment run by honest local folks.

Pretty good donuts, bagels are the best though pretty good selection too. The people are super friendly and the are fair. Only thing that could uses some work is the time it takes to get your food, for two bagel sandwiches not toasted and with only three things on it took a bit. The food was defiantly worth the wait though.

Awesome donuts, bagels and cream cheese. Huge coffee selection as well including Skeeter & Earls which is awesome.

donuts are okay, the bagels are much much better! go early b/c they can sell out of bagels. We get a dozen a couple times a week when we're up at our camp. It's convenient next to the Co-op for getting bagels for breakfast and sandwiches.

Not much to complain about here. Only one star off because they don't take credit cards which can be inconvenient at times. However, the bagels are fresh and delicious as well as their other breakfasts which include basically everything you can find at a regular diner. Fresh taste, good prices, lots of tea and coffee to choose from. Boy does it smell good in there!

Color me surprised to find totally decent bagels in the middle of Vermont. These would be 80th percentile bagels in New York City. Not "oh my god this is the best bagel I've ever had" (that would be Absolute Bagels on Broadway and 107, on a busy weekend morning when the line is out the door and the bagels are constantly coming out hot from the oven), not quite Ess-a-bagel either, but definitely on par with H&H. Nice chew, a little bit dense, good toppings (though they really need to add a touch of salt to the "everything" mix). More deli-style fillings than bagel shop-style fillings, only a small assortment of cream cheese, and I didn't notice any lox or whitefish or egg salad, but the eggs are done nicely, and they used a really really yummy breakfast sausage patty. All in all, they put in an excellent effort here, and the results are totally respectable. If most non-NYC bagel places were this good, the rest of America would be better off. (Man, I miss going to Absolute every weekend...)

Nice place to get breakfast or lunch. Bagels are very good and there's a good variety of flavors. Menu is interesting. We had the bagel with lox and an "Egger" for breakfast and we were both satisfied. I've had the donuts and they are also very tasty. Only downside-cash or checks only.

Awesome bagels. I had an egg cheese and peppers and onions. It was a great portion for $4 and the perfect start to the day.

I think I'm tripping on something and I can no longer feel love? I'm seeing a lot of good reviews. To be fair, I will continue visiting this place as long as I live. I affectionately call it "The Worst Bagel Shop in the World". Every time I go here, my journey goes wayward and I must journey off of the beaten path of taste in order to fill my stomach. When I first visited here, they told me that only two types of bagels were available for purchase - "Salt & Pepper" and "Cinnamon Sugar". What? Neither of those are flavors that bagels come in. They did have normal cream cheese, and also some "Tomato" cream cheese that had the consistency and visual appeal of a bad salmon. But I ate it anyway, and I did not feel sick afterward. My bagel was black with pepper - perhaps my soul is also black, which is preventing me from finding this restaurant to be the profound source of joy that others find it to be? My next visit was better - they still didn't have any of my first three choices (forget Everything. it might be the most popular flavor of bagel to ever exist, but this place hides it from me whenever I walk through the door?). I wound up with garlic, which is okay. When I asked for a napkin, they gave me a stack of napkins so tall that it will last my house for weeks! Credit cards are not an acceptable form of payment at this establishment. Usually this is not so bad, but prices are so high at the WBSitW that you will need to be pre-approved for a payment plan if you are to afford a breakfast meal. If your credit is bad, try Dunkins.

Best doughnuts, homemade, from scratch, from an honest, family owned business (try THAT at Dunkin's, "John S."!) Totally crave-able breakfasts, but don't be afraid to try a bagel sandwich for lunch either. Go early for the best selection-- things sell out.

Looking for the best donut in Vermont ,go to Middlebury Bagel! They were a great unexpected find with wide variety of fresh large flavorful donuts. If you go in the afternoon they are on sale. What could be better than a dozen donut on sale and a large coffee. When in Middlebury stop in for breakfast, lunch or a quick pick me up.

I come from Brooklyn, the land of great bagels, yet I still regularly yearn for the spinach bagles from Middlebury Bagel & Delicatessen. I'm not joking. They're the best bagels I've ever had in my life, and reason enough to stop in Middlebury.

This place is awesome. AMAZING bagels and omelets, decent (though somewhat weak) coffee, and most importantly of all, owners and staff who are friendly and kind. There's a seating area in the back of the bagel shop were you can meet with people to work, write, or study, and you won't be harassed to leave or compelled to purchase anything (or spend "X amount" of money per hour) like at other area businesses. ...but you'll end up spending money anyway, because the people are awesome and the food is great.

Very good doughnuts and breakfast sandwiches. They can act like assholes when it comes to selling cream cheese, but the eggers make up for it.

Great bagels, great service. We got Bageleggers, which are humongous, but totally delicious. Good coffee, too.

I LOVE these bagels. One of my roomates used to get a big box of them for our house senior year, and it was so nice to wake up to.... what more could a hung-over college kid ask for? Good other bfast stuff too, but really, the bagels and cream cheeses are killer. My only gripe is that it seemed to close to early.... something like 1pm on a weekend? Am I really supposed to be functional on a Sunday morning at that time?

This place started originally as just a doughnut shop, then moved on into baking bagels and selling sandwiches - which finally led to some sit down seating and more of a breakfast menu. The doughnuts are delicious - I love the cinnamon and sugar. The bagels are good - they are doughy though (I'm fairly sure they don't boil them so they don't get a nice crust on them like a real bagel). This doesn't make them bad, just different. I prefer them for sandwiches. It's the only place to get a bagel in town, so if that's what you are looking for than this is your place.

Ham on a bagel: this is not KANSAS! This place was not there in my freshman year!

Another one of my favorite Middlebury locations. Love a nice turkey sandwich on a bagel. Definately order ahead if you want lunch on the weekend as bagels can run out. One of my very favorites is the corn chowder!!! And I grew up on their donuts on Sunday mornings ... now nothing else comes close.

Grilled ham and cheese on bagel at Middlebury Bagel is the best hangover medicine in the world.
