My sweetheart and I went to The Silver Fork for the first time on Saturday evening, and WOW!, I wasn't prepared for it. We were greeted by a knowledgeable, enthusiastic, friendly server, who picked a perfect wine for me (2010 Anton Bauer Wagram Cuvee - a red blend from Austria). The challenge was to decide what to order from the most exciting and alluring menu I've ever seen. So... instead of ordering an appetizer and entree for each of us, we shared five appetizers, and each of them was splendid. We started with cold apps: the tuna ceviche with mangos, dates and tostones, and a caprese salad with tomatoes from Earth Sky Time Farm. Then, the warm apps: lobster Caribbean risotto, a flat-out amazing pizza-like flatbread topped with duck confit, goat cheese, shiitake mushrooms and caramelized onions, and an astounding dish that combined shredded beef brisket and homemade spaetzle, with fresh horseradish grated on top. One of the very best dining experiences I've ever had. Incredibly innovative, perfectly sourced and executed. I can't wait to go back!

My friend and I came in on a Saturday night before going to the Dorset Playhouse. All of the great reviews for the server, the recommendations, and the food are spot on. This is a gem of a restaurant. The chef's wife was a delight; her recommendations were delicious. We especially loved the chicharroni de pollo and mango floating souffle (do not miss either!!!). Absolute surprise find in Vermont!

I love to eat out and always on a look out for a great place. Silver fork is one of my great find. My girlfriend and I dined here this evening. We started with white sangria which was very refreshing. Then a nice crusty bread served with olive tapenade. Followed by goat cheese soufflé with fig jam and toast. My girlfriend had veal emincee I know she liked it because she polished the plate. I had the Maryland crab cake with shoe string fries, it has real lumps of crab no fillers (which I hate) and of course I polished my plate too. We tried to save room for dessert but we were so full we couldn't possibly do it. May be on my next visit. The service was very attentive and gracious. The owner was the one who took our orders. The restaurant is small I recommend making reservations. I was lucky to get a table for 2 on short notice. I will definitely come back here. This restaurant also support produce from the local farmers. I will definitely come back.

Maybe the best meal of my life! We had the pulled pork empanadas, the duck breast entree and a special fish entree - plantain crusted mahi mahi. All was incredible, but the duck was truly special. They even gave us a mini bottle of champagne to bring back to our hotel as a gift. Amazing food and service!!

Outstanding meal and great hosts! The place is tiny. 6 tables and 6 seats at the bar. Reservations are probably a great idea. The menu is diverse but curated well. The chefs traveled background is apparent. Everything we ate was outstanding. The scallops, lamb, mahi mahi and tuna ceviche were great. Great wine selection as well

Silver Fork is indeed a great restaurant and well worth the time of anyone staying within a short distance. The appetizers and dessert here were outstanding. An order of chicharrones de pollo were flavorful and fun, drenched in a bright lime-tinged sauce. A Lobster Risotto and a caramelized smoked salmon dish were both superb as well. Be warned that the salmon dish is quite sweet, but still works. Our mains, the stuffed cod and veal emincee, were a bit bland, especially the veal. Maybe we just ordered the wrong items or it was an off night. Our dessert, a massive floating mango soufflé, was absolutely excellent. It had a deep milky, vanilla taste, set off by an eggy custard upon which was draped big dollops of mango caramel. This dessert will easily feed three. The service here was wonderful and everyone was amazingly nice and quite eager to please. A pretty great restaurant and a very nice experience.

I'll jump on the bandwagon with another 5-stars ... We went here for dinner on a Saturday night - 5pm reservation at the bar (I'll reiterate other reviews - very small restaurant, 6 tables and 6 seats at the bar - need reservations!) The food was outstanding and the owner was very charming and insightful with the menu. We actually couldn't figure out what to order! For appetizers: - Pork Cassoulet (a special) - Tuna Carpaccio - my favorite! relatively thick slices of tuna and tasted amazing! - Grilled Churrasco - I only saw it but it disappeared very quickly! entrees: - Cod stuffed with crab - I loved this... I'm a huge fish person and the cod was stuffed with large lumps of crabmeat, perfectly prepared and a ton of flavor - Beef Stroganoff - I tried a bite, was very good also! No room for dessert but we did "threaten" to order another entree just to try something else! (were really stuffed by then though, so intelligently called it quits) Small yet charming atmosphere, friendly staff - will be going back!

Different! Such a breath of fresh air for VT, with a really unique cuisine. The couple who run (and cook in) the establishment are delightful, and very creative indeed. They have a great selection of wine and curated liquors, and everything seems to be hand picked to suit the space. The menu is seasonal and heavily inspired by the chef's stay in Puerto Rico, but maintains an international approach providing a range of options. A great opportunity to try new and delicious dishes that you won't find elsewhere in the area. Save room for desert--the mango floating souffle is insanely good, but also big enough for a family! (Intimate space, so I would recommend reservations)

My boyfriend and I went for dinner last night. We made a 9:00 reservation for the bar. When we got there we saw how small and intimate it was and we're pleased off the start. The first thing we ordered were drinks he got a salted caramel martini that would knock you're socks off!!! Hands down martini we have ever had. For appetizer we got the scallops where we wanted to lick the plate to get the rest of the sauce. For dinner he got the crab cake which had the best homemade tarter sauce ever and I got the rack of lamb which I'm drooling about just thinking of it. Dessert was suggested for us and was the banana bread pudding soufflé. Best thing in the world. The owner took care of us and she was so personable and pleasant that we would drive from our home 2.5 hours away just to come back. This dinner truly made our weekend getaway!

Excellent meal, top of the line service, and warm and welcoming space. We tried mostly lighter items because we got a later reservation. Appetizers: The warm pear and goat cheese salad was delightful and the tuna ceviche was fresh, delicious, and paired with perfect plantains. Main: We shared the salmon strudel, which was very very good but not a standout for me. It was however perfect on our stomachs given the late hour so I have zero regrets. Dessert: We enjoyed the bread pudding, which the place is known for, and now understand why! Service was excellent; for instance, the table next to us was waiting for a shuttle bus and - unprompted - the waiter called the hotel to give them a nudge because he noticed they had been waiting a little while. The owners try to greet everyone and make you feel at home. Will definitely try to go back!

If you are in the Manchester VT area, be sure to eat here if you can get reservations. With only six tables you must reserve in advance. Without a doubt this was one of the best restaurants my husband and I have visited...and we have eaten at a lot of restaurants around the world. The menu is extensive and our dishes were fabulous!

Wow... wait let me take one more bite... Yeah Wow! This is my first time here and I was blown away. A top notch chef running a very small restaurant in Manchester! Let me start with the cocktail menu, I had a Fireside, Bourbon, Ruby Port, Sweet Vermouth, Orange Bitters, simply delicious. I had the Asian Pear salad to start, served in an asian bowl with chopsticks. The pears were sweet, warm and went so well with the almonds and rice wine vinegar. A great start with the temperature in the teens out side. For the entree I had the duck, a leg confit with a side of duck sauge and Spätzle. The Spätzle was homemade and was very good. I took my time but cleaned my plate, it was so worth it! Oh and we didn't stop there... we ordered the "Swan" dessert for the table. It was a pastry shaped like a swan with homemade Grand Marnier Ice Cream, swimming on a lake of chocolate. I love the size of the place but I wish the bar had space to stand at when you arrive to grab a drink. The place is so small that you can not show up even 10-15 minutes early, there just no room to stand. It's a problem that really can't be adressed, just an FYI for anyone going here for the first time.

Silver Fork reminds me of the six table restaurant a lot of people talk about opening, but never really get to. Melody & Mark have done a great job here. We came in tonight after having this place on our "must try" list for a couple years. Here's the rundown on the food: - Field Green & Peach salad: ridiculously good - Carpaccio: solid, really enjoyed it. I'd order this again & ask to go lighter on the anchovy mayo - Crab Cake: easily one of the best crab cakes you can get anywhere. Period - Pappardelle w/ Veal Bolognese: Huge miss here. Sauce was a bit watery & the whole thing lacked flavor 3.5 stars based on the food and how no one thought to ask why a whole plate of Bolognese was barely touched. Wife loved it so we rounded up.

Delightful with an Exciting Menu Little did we know the this little gem would be written up this weekend in the NY Times. Every person we asked in town said this was the best place to go. I had booked earlier in the week and their were two seats at the bar available which was fine. The whole place has six tables. The husband is the Chef and the wife runs the front and is delightful and lovely. I had the raclette as an appetizer with potatoes, mushrooms and cheese. Delish! And the beef Stroganoff for dinner. Also delicious. After all it was a cold Vermont night. The wife suggested a Cabernet which was paired well. My husband had calamari and stuffed sole which he loved. We would return in a heartbeat but it is not easy to get reservations.

Very eclectic menu based on the chef's background of German, French and Puerto Rican experienced. The mains a delicious and constantly changing and the service is very good and personal. Deserts were so so - the mango soufflé was massive and a little confusing.

  • Jeffrey P.

Delicious! The extensive menu features items from the chef's life in Baltimore, and Puerto Rico and training with a German chef. We had the goat cheese souffle and the lobster risotto to start and shared the Tamarind BBQ lamb and the pheasant breast on polenta with wild mushroom ragu. We finished with the Caribbean bread pudding. The wine list offers glasses of everything that's on a bottle. Great ambience too!

Absolutely amazing. My wife an I came here for our 8 year anniversary and were happily surprised by the restaurant, the ambiance and the service. The food was varied and the wine list was complimentary. Tip: get the onion soup!

Very good. The chef is an artist. I highly recommend the scallops wrapped in prosciutto appetizer and the tenderloins entree topped with pistachios and blue cheese. The bread pudding dessert was excellent too and the service was fantastic - we were served by the chef's wife and she is just as nice as can be.

Outstanding experience, start to finish. My boyfriend and I went for dinner this past Saturday. Every table is great in a six table restaurant, but I loved ours especially because we had a corner spot with a view of the whole place. They have a very cute little bar, too. I started with one of their winter cocktails, the St. Nick martini. St. Germaine, gin, and cranberry, perfectly blended with a twist of lemon. My boyfriend had an old fashioned, which I typically hate, but we actually both loved the flavor of this one-- not too sweet. The bread for the table was delicious and our lobster risotto appetizer was so rich and heavenly I was glad it was reasonably portioned. Could have seriously over done it on that.... We had a red, French wine flight with our meal. The glasses all came with a little description of each offering. Generally tasty and very reasonably priced ($15 for what was the equivalent of 2 glasses of wine). I had the eggplant, squash, goat cheese bake and it was very, very good. My boyfriend, who is a meat eater, actually thought my dish won for the more indulgent of the two (which is rare). He had a salmon dish and it came wrapped in phyllo dough- also very good. Shamefully, after all that decadence, we still decided to order dessert and I'm so glad we did..... We were about to order the pumpkin dessert, when I noticed a drink with crème de noyaux, which I LOVE and never see available when eating out. It was in the "Twist My Arm" drink-- crème de noyaux, chocolate liquor, and ice cream-blended. Absolute heaven. The last thing I'll mention about this spot is that our server is one of the owners (husband/wife team) and she was so fantastic. You could tell she really loves her job and the way she spoke about the food, how the menu had evolved from their years of travel experiencing new cultures, really made the whole dining experience so much more memorable (and so much better!).

We went to the Silver Fork while away for the weekend in Manchester. With just six tables and six bar stools it is tiny, but bright and cute inside. We had booked weeks ahead, seeing it listed as a "must go" on so many lists. We were greeted by Melody, the friendly, funny owner (her husband is the chef), who explained the various menus to us and took our drink order. I started with a glass of Malbec and my husband had a red sangria. The Malbec was a very generous pour, and the sangria made fresh in front of us was large as well. We started with the lamb meatballs in a cucumber sauce and a special pulled pork panini which came with homemade chips. Both were outstanding. My husband had the veal lasagna special which included a layer of eggplant...excellent! I had the beef tenderloin with pistachios and blue cheese. It was one of those meals where you tried to make it all come out even so you could get a bite of everything in your last bite! We ended the night with their creme brule. It was huge, a must share and flavored with a touch of Gran Marnier. What a meal! If you have to beg, borrow or steal a reservation here you must go. And talk to Melody, she's awesome and will tell you where all the great menu ideas come from! One of the best meals we've ever had!

Loved all of our dishes. Local produce and cheese plate was an amazing end to our meal. We were accompanied by a great and affordable bottle of wine. Highly recommended to anyone in the area. Chef is on point.

We loved everything about this place. Do yourself a favor and go here for dinner you will not disappointed. The service was excellent. Atmosphere warm and inviting. We started with Caprese salad that was delicious, and had an appetizer of Lobster Risotto that was sublime. One of our entree's the Crab Cake was served with house made tarter sauce and thin crisp shoestring potatoes. If you like crab treat yourself to this entree. For dessert we had a Mango Soufflé that was spectacular. The desserts all sounded great and we were tempted to stay long enough so we would have room to try another. We are from Seattle. My partner is always on the hunt for good restaurants wherever we go. This is one of the best places she has ever found. If this restaurant was close by we would eat here every week.

Go here. The best meal I've had in a long time. From Chicago (one of the best food cities ever), I admit to being a bit of a food snob - and Silver Fork is seriously good. It was our only noteworthy meal on a week-long trip in the northeast. I started with a pineapple upside down cake martini, which was perfectly sweet and delicious. From that point, I trusted our adorable, friendly server who told me it was one of her favorites. Melody (owner) was also very sweet and fun when she came to our table to chat. I wanted to order nearly every single thing on the menu, but we finally decided on the baked peach w/ goat cheese and chicharroni de pollo appetizers. Both were great, though if you are deciding between the two - go for the chicken, which is super flavorful. I tend to appreciate the flavors in appetizers more so than entrees, but I have to say, the salmon strudel is my most favorite entree I can remember. I could. not. stop. eating. AND mid-over-eating this perfectly cooked salmon and flaky strudel item, they bring the dessert menu (as some things take 25 minutes to bake). I was on vacation and cannot pass up bread pudding, so it was pretty much essential that I order the caribbean bread pudding. And when that came out, it promptly became my most favorite dessert ever. I am a bit obsessed with it and am so sad there are so many miles between me and this pot of perfection. Rarely does a restaurant serve up a meal so good from start to finish. Silver Fork is that rare place.

Outstanding is not the word. Very small place, very personal service. They really paid attention to what they thought we would like and made suggestions accordingly. It was the best meal I've had in...... Forever? Oh, and did I mention: the best. Dessert. I've. Ever. Had? Caribbean bread pudding souffle with coconut creme (I hope I got that right). Insert curse words here, it was that good. At the risk of making it even harder for me to get in, you should absolutely go. Do it now.

Small restaurant with very cozy feeling. Food was delicious. The menu was varied and had very excellent choices but all hand picked by the chef. The chef worked in Puerto Rico for many years and owned a restaurant there and he is able to combine puertorrican and Caribbean flavors into his dishes which makes the food very tasty and unique. I am from Puerto Rico and can say everything he made was well above my expectations. Would definitely return and recommend to anyone. The service was very personal and good.

My husband and I had heard about this gem from a friend of a friend and are so glad we decided to try it. Our experience was wonderful, the service excellent, the food phenomenal. This was quite possibly the best meal I've eaten out. Definitely worth a visit if you are in Manchester, but you must make a reservation!

From start to finish Silver Fork exceeded my expectations. Extreme attention was put into every detail of our experience. The service and setting is on point, could not possibly be better. Each dish is put together with precision, the unusual menu options were impressive! I wish I came with more of an appetite! We got to know the whole staff pretty well and love them all. Mark, the owner and chef who is very worldly wrote me a list of things to see and places to eat during my next visit to Puerto Rico - very warming gesture! I highly recommend and will be back to visit soon!

Shhhhhhhh! With all these raves, it'll become harder and harder to get a reservation at Silver Fork! Mark and Melody are amazing restaurateurs and Mark's creations are as adventurous as the most renowned chefs. Had dinner at the bar last night - don't miss the salmon strudel - and the crabcake was absolutely perfect lump crab with no filler. Even the wine list is outstanding with a strong selection of wines priced around $40. No doubt this is the go-to restaurant in southern VT. It blows away everything within 50 miles if not more.

  • Unhappy C.

It was a very disappointing experience tonight. We had been to the restaurant a few times over the past couple of years and enjoyed our meals. Tonight the food was just sub par. The appetizers, pumpkin soup and some wild mushroom dish, had no taste and the entrée, rack of lamb, was chewy and not that flavorful. The owner is very gracious, but the food has gone down hill since last year.

We made reservations about a month in advance and from the recommendations and reviews we were excited to try this place. There are 6 tables and also 6 seats at the bar so it's has a very cozy and intimate feel. We arrived a few minutes early and it was full so they asked us to have a seat in the coat room which had a little space heater but since its February it didn't do much. I was a little disappointed but they brought us out a drink while we waited...about 15 minutes. If your looking for a more laid back meal like I was then this place probably isn't for you. However, the salted carmel martinis are delicious!!

I was in Manchester for my anniversary with my wife, and I had really wanted to try this place. I called the day before and was told the whole restaurant was reserved, however, the hostess I was speaking with was quite pleasant, and said that she would be happy to put me on the waiting list.... I guess I was lucky, because about an hr later I was called and told they had a table. We showed up on time for our reservation, and then understood why the placed was so booked up... it only has about 7 tables (which I think is great). The place is small with a bar (reservations only for that), and tables in close proximity to each other. The atmosphere was lively, but not too loud, I thought it was quaint and classy. We were promptly greeted and seated. Everyone was drinking some type of Sangria type thing, so we promptly ordered two of those. They were excellent tasting, with enough alcohol that it justified the $10+ price tag (we are from Boston, so a $10 drink is pretty normal). We were told about the specials and put in for appetizers, I got Scallops wrapped in prosciutto, and my Wife got Escargo. Both were absolutely amazing, with fresh ingredients, generous portions and fantastic flavors. Contrary to a couple of reviews, we were not rushed, and the owners/operators (Wife runs the floor, husband is the Chef) even came out to speak with us. We ordered a bottle of wine, which they have a pretty good list of, at halfway decent prices (not marked up 250%). We ordered our entrees, I got the Slow Roasted Pulled Pork, served with potato gnocchi and other ingredients, and my wife got the Duck Confit, with sausage and Shnizel. Again, both were great. The food is extremely rich, so you are not going to get huge servings, but you will also not leave hungry. Service was attentive but not overbearing, the ambiance was great, it was cozy and classy. We shared a desert (cheesecake), it was a good way to end the night. We were there for about 2.5 hrs (not due to slow service). One recommendation would be to make a reservation for a later time, understanding that there will not be another reservation after your (it will allow for longer dining experience if preferred) The bill, though hefty, was expected, and since this was our anniversary and a once in while dining experience, it was totally worth it. Anyone reviewing this restaurant and not giving 4 or 5 stars doesn't appreciate good dining. Expect to pay for quality.

Yes, this place just nails it. 6 tables, insanely friendly service, and stellar food. My wife and I went for NYE this year while on vacation in town based on the handful of VERY positive Yelp reviews. They were all right! Had a scallop and Serrano ham app followed by an amazing shrimp and veal roulade with the finale of apple cinnamon beignets. My wife loved her tenderloin medallion, too, and the tempura shrimp app she had was delicate and perfect. Wine list is short'ish, but packed with winners. Service really was spectacular. Some of the NICEST folks. GO!

Delicious!! This is a small quaint restaurant with delicious food and friendly service. We made last minute reservations at the bar, which was actually very comfortable. The bar stools are cushioned, and they do not allow anyone to sit there without a reservation, so don't shy away from their bar resos! However, if you want a table, I highly recommend making reservations early... we went in on a very rainy Monday evening, and they were totally full.. Upon arriving we were warmly greeted and immediately seated. They were offering a Chardonnay wine flight, so my husband and I each tried one. The wine selections were representing un-oaked to very oaky chard... very nice (for a reasonable price too!) We couldn't decide on what to order because everything looked so good, so we decided to order a few apps. We ordered four apps for the 2 of us, and that a sufficient amount of food. The tuna carpaccio was FANTASTIC!!! I love tuna, and this arguably the best tuna I have ever had. It was a very generous portion, seasoned with just a few items that really highlighted the fresh flavor of the tuna. We almost ordered another one...it was that good! We also really enjoyed the scallops. They are served in a light cream sauce that was very flavorful, balanced the flavors, but wasn't too heavy. There were only 2 scallops, but they were generously sized, and prepared perfectly. We also ordered a Cesar salad, and something else (but I don't remember now)... both were good, but nothing spectacular. There was nothing that we were unhappy or disappointed with, we were just wonderfully blown away with how great the tuna and scallops were. I highly recommend this restaurant...! The only item that bothered my husband just a bit, was that the atmosphere appeared to be not humble... the wait-staff provided a lengthy and scripted description of the chef's resume to every table and his awards are displayed on almost every wall around the restaurant.

Silver Fork is owned and run by a husband & wife team. They both try to ensure that the meals and the experience are excellent. During our stay at in down the street someone there recommended this place. I'm glad we went. Melody stays out front and waits on tables along with other staff and ensures that things are running smooth. She wants you to have a great experience. Example, they had only one Riesling on the wine list which I did not like. She went out back and got a bottle that they no longer serve and let me try it before serving it to us. Food was excellent as well as the whole night there. Will make sure to hit this spot next time we are in town.

We stayed at a B&B this past weekend where the owners gave the Silver Fork a very strong and well deserved recommendation. We liked it so much we went twice! The interior is small, but not crowded, with six tables (20 seats) plus 5 at the bar. Reservations are a must even for the bar. Nicely decorated and very inviting. Melody, the chef/owner's wife, is a wonderful hostess, a real gem. She and the rest of the staff are genuinely friendly and fun to talk to. The menu is creative and ever changing. I won't go through everything we ordered because whatever you have will be perfect. That said you must, must, MUST have the Mango Floating Island for dessert. Be warned, it is big even for two and you will be unable to resist finishing it. I could go on and on but . . . Just go!!!

Every year when my gf and I go out to Manchester for our anniversary I try to find someplace different to go. For such a quaint little town they don't seem to have many GREAT restaurants. After seeing nothing but 5 star reviews I decided to make reservations here. The owner/wife is very friendly and explained how their menu changes weekly because the chef/owner likes to keep things fresh. So I was very excited to see what they had to offer since they don't have a website and I could only find a sample menu after scouring the internet. The restaurant is very casual and close knit. You will need reservations if you plan on eating here. Dining is laid back and drawn out so leave plenty of time. This isn't necessarily a bad thing because it gives you a chance to chat with one of the owners about the restaurant and all the medals the chef has received from all over the country. For an appetizer I ordered the Fried Oysters which was a special. While they were breaded and cooked wonderfully there were only 3 in the order for $14. If the restaurant was set as more of an upscale place I would expect small portions and high prices but its not really the type of place you need to get all dressed up for. For dinner I was torn between the Chicken Marsala and the Maryland Crabcake. I ended up getting the Crabcake because they raved about how great it was. Not that I was disappointed in it but once again for $30 you get ONE average sized Crabcake with french fries. My gf got the Penne Alfredo with pulled chicken and broccoli which seemed like a better value. Her plate was overflowing with pasta, so if you are like me and want to be stuffed after a meal then I would say stick with the pasta dishes as they appear to have hearty portions. The only thing I didn't like about that dish is the chicken was nonexistent. While the broccoli, onions, and mushrooms were obviously visible, I don't know what happened to the chicken part of it. The desserts were also a tad more expensive than average at $10 a pop. This was one of my favorite parts of the meal though. The Apple Beignets are great. Its slices of apples dipped in batter then fried and covered in powdered sugar and cinnamon. The homemade cinnamon ice cream wasn't all that flavorful though. The food was all freshly prepared and tasty. The only reason I don' t give them more stars is because I think the food is very pricey for the portions and the setting.

Wonderful little spot, with a diverse and interesting menu. Extremely friendly service- really enjoyed hearing about Melanie and her husband's background and how it led them to open the silver fork. Looking forward to returning! Definitely order dessert- the mango souffle was delicious.

Silver Fork is phenomenal. We started with The French Onion soup and mushroom/fig/goat cheese appetizers. Both were in incredible. The soup was cheesy and delicious. For entrees everything looked great but we decided on the Crab Cakes and Salmon. The crab cakes were the best we ever had. The salmon soufflé was different but wonderful. We ended with the fresh blueberry cobbler which was equally as delicious. Add to the fact that the staff was friendly and helpful it was overall spectacular.

If I could give this place 10 stars I would. Everything about it is fantastic - the food is inspired and delicious, the drinks are creative and different, and the service is impeccable. The husband/wife duo are terrific and give the place its charm but the food is what holds my attention the most. One of my gripes about living in Manchester is that there are many restaurants here but none of them really wow me. I've been to the Silver Fork numerous times and never have been disappointed. I love how frequently they change up their menu depending on local ingredients. Seriously, what are you waiting for?! Get over to Silver Fork! Word to the wise - the place is beautiful inside but tiny - there are about 6 tables. So if you want to go there for dinner, definitely call ahead and make a reservation. Lunch, you don't need one, just drop in. And be sure you get the Maple Cream Martini - you will not be sorry :)

Phenom of the Manchester area! If you can get a table, beg for it! Great prices and an ever changing upscale menu.

First of all, I hate when ppl start by saying they're from NYC and hence have a more discerning palate (I'm looking at you, "David E!") That being said, my fiance and I had a fantastic meal at the Silver Fork. The place was cozy and the service and hospitality were warm and gracious. My fiance and I shared the fried oysters to start. They were heavy on the breading but the oysters were still tender and delicate. For entrees, I had the salmon strudel and he had the tenderloin medallions. Both dishes were excellent. To end the meal, we shared the dessert special- a pecan/pumpkin pie concoction with homemade maple ice cream-- delicious! I would definitely come back here. I love the cozy, familial environment and the food is excellent.

Wonderful service. Food not up to high expectations. After reading so many positive professional and diner reviews, we had high expeditions after obtaining this hard to get reservation for four on a Saturday night. Our server was highly attentive. Dining frequently at high end restaurants in Manhattan, we have run the gamut of good and bad servers, and we were very pleased to have such a good one here. We also liked the fair and flexible wine program that allowed us to pair glasses to our courses. Unfortunately the menu was not very coherent. It ranged from Asian flavored fried calamari to beef stroganoff. The entrees were disappointing. Seemed like everything was just smothered with a lot of gravy and sauce. The seared foie gras was too runny for our taste. Also don't understand the floating soufflé for it was a just a big white blob emphasizing quantity over quality. We love dining in southern Vermont, but Silver Fork will not be in our rotation.

Was there few months ago with my wife. Great reviews so was expecting something special but I was a little disappointed. The staff was definitely friendly and cozy setting but the food was so so. Very pricey for what they serve. Not sure if I'll go back.

Having not spent much time in Manchester, my wife and I turned to Yelp to help us decide on where to dine. Well, the reviews for this place were stellar, so the choice was easy...and they were right. We had dinner on a Saturday night, so I made sure to make reservations, much appreciated by the hostess/co-owner. I knew from the other reviews that the restaurant was small (only six tables or so and a bar), but I was surprised at how spacious it was with it's high ceilings. Warm and welcoming staff. We felt at home right from start. The meal was phenomenal. We each started with the French onion soup, which was topped with fried onion strings and served with a pair of scissors (for that trail of cheese that is usually halfway digested, yet still attached to your spoon) to cut the cheese...no easy way to say that... The soup was amazing, less salty than the typical french onion, which was really refreshing. For the main course, I had the rack of lamb topped with goat cheese and mustard. Cooked to perfection. My wife had salmon and spinach baked into a filo dough. Like everything else, they were great. Overall, the meal was great and worth the price tag. We also got some inside information that the owner/chef, Mark, was the private chef for star running back Steven Jackson. Needless-to-say, he's not happy about Mark and his wife leaving St Louis for Vermont. I, on the other hand, am.

The combination of delicious food, ambience and very friendly staff make Silver Fork one of the best restaurants I have ever eaten at. We had pan fried oysters with homemade tartar sauce, beef carpaccio, salmon strudel, shrimp mofongo, and bread pudding soufflé. Everything was wonderful. There are only six tables, so reservations are a must. This is a must go to restaurant and is easily one of the best restaurants in any town, whether it was located in Paris, New York, San Francisco etc. I'm so glad this restaurant is in Manchester, Vermont. Makes our vacation. getaways that much more enjoyable.

This Is a Must if you are in Manchester Vermont. We were lucky to get reservations at the bar! The Chef is the owner along with his wife Melody. She runs the front and is a server too. Down to earth feel with some of the best food. From the Bread, drinks apps meals and dessert they were all so well prepared and everything tasted so fresh. I had the Sangria and it was one of the Best I have had. Everything we had was homemade. It was such a nice night. When we were checking into our hotel two different staff members told us that would be the place to get reservations for. They only have 6 tables and 5 seats at the bar. All reservations. I am not going to describe everything we had because what ever you order will be great and the Chef switches it up too. Follow Melody's blog! We live about 4hours away we both decided it be worth the drive and an overnight stay to go and eat here!!! Thank you to Mark and Melody!!!!!

Two of the best meals I've EVER had were here. It's a family-owned business and the chef creates really imaginative food with GREAT flavors. The first time we went, we had the pan-seared oysters, the squash spaghetti and duck eggroll for starters.....one was better than the next, all amazing. For entrees we had the Cod and the Mahi Mahi and again, we were very impressed. The Maryland crab cakes are out of this world and if the chef does the jerk chicken appetizer, you MUST get it. The restaurant itself is super small, quaint and so comfortable. Overall, I love this place and will be there every time I am in Vermont.

The best fine dining you will find in a quaint little town called Manchester Village. It is run by a couple who love all kinds of food and you can tell by the menu and the way she describes each dish. The restaurant has 5 four person seat tables, 1 two person table, and a full bar with about 5-6 stools. As other reviewers have said, make reservations! The french onion soup is absolute perfection. The lamb melts in your mouth and pair it with a glass of "Educated Guess" cabernet and nothing else matters anymore. End the night with a homemade brownie topped with frozen coconut custard with toasted coconut chips and you will melt into a pool of blissful mush. I wanted to try everything on the menu, but I guess that will have to wait for another visit. If you're ever within a 50 mile range of this place, I dare you to try it out.

Dinner left us speechless. Traveled to over 10 different counties , eaten in over a thousand restaurants and finally a meal that has tantalized my taste buds. Will forever be a fan and thank you for an amazing evening on our 15 year anniversary.

The Silver Fork is on our TOP 3 list of best restaurants in Manchester. It certainly has the most original menu. It is pricey, but not more so than other upscale restaurants in the area. Mark and Melody have done an amazing job with renovations. While he works his magic in the kitchen, she is running the floor and making excellent cocktails. First they bring you warm home made forcaccia with delicious tapenade - which I could not stop eating. We loved the special appetizer of fried oysters - juicy, and crisp - as well as the gorgeous caramelized smoked salmon with mango, avocado and other greens. For entrees, the Mofongo Shrimp, and the fat Crab Cake (all lump crab)- very filling with no filler! I loved the fresh large sprigs of watercress on the plates - that was my salad. I was much too full for dessert, but my husband enjoyed the apple beignets. The cinnamon ice cream accompaniment was a bit too ice crystalline for me. Drinks are reasonable and made with fresh fruit juice instead of bar mix- which is always appealing. We can't wait to go back. Reservations highly recommended - as there are only 6 tables and 5 bar stools. Worth the splurge!! UPDATE: Our 2nd meal here was a little disappointing for me. The onion soup was not very good and ti was not hot enough.A veal special was over salted. Our 3rd visit however, was 5 star again. Especially the Bread Pudding Souffle. Not truly a Souffle, it was nonetheless outstanding with a rich, rum flavored coconut sauce served S.O.S. in a fresh coconut shell, and with bananas in the pudding. It is one of the all time best desserts I have ever eaten...and this gal has eaten thousands! I brought home the half of fresh coconut so I could attack it aggressively with a knife to get all the delicious bits of fresh meat...pouring a bit of coconut rum in the center of it as I dug deep.....mmmmm...what a good recycling of a great dessert!

Great service and food! Went there with my husband and 1 yr old son who got cranky as soon as we got to the table (son, not the husband). They were so nice and even made him a plate of avocado. The food and drinks were so good! The waitress made great recommendations! Would go again when we return.

One word, three syllables: OUT-STAND-ING There's no need to rehash all of the past comments about this place but I do have to mention a few things: The owners are fabulous hostesses. You feel like they've invited you into their personal home and want you to feel welcome, be well fed and leave happy. It's such a comfortable, warm setting. The food is amazing. The tastes, flavors, presentation and variety is wonderful and all blends together nicely. I must recommend the eggplant, squash, goat cheese bake. I'm salivating just thinking about it again. The atmosphere is trendy, classy, intimate and stylish - all rolled together. While there are only 6 tables and bar seating for 6, you feel like you have your own little private space where the owner makes you the center of her attention. You'd be foolish to pass up an opportunity to eat here but everyone else was right - make a reservation. I called at 10am the morning of and still got an 8:30pm seating. But be warned, pretty soon you'll need to make a reservation well in advance because as word gets out about this place, people will be lining up at the door to get in!

This was one of my favorite restaurant experiences ever. Every dish we had was recommended to us perfectly by our waitress, who was so friendly and nice, and spot on with the food! Along with the perfect wine flight for pairing. The scallops, lamb, pulled pork and bread pudding were unbelievable. The owner stopped by to chat with us personally too, she was wonderful! Such an intimate setting. Incredible and innovative fusions of New England, Caribbean and European influences. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone in town!

The service was great, the main course was wonderful but I was disappointed in the onion soup. The presentation was wonderful but it lacked flavor. The diner onion soup back in NYC tastes 10 time better.

Reservations are essential and this is a place you plan to go. We selected it several weeks before our visit to the area. It surpassed every expectation we had. I remember I had a Salmon dish and it was one of the best I have had. The side dishes are big enough to share. We did not have room for dessert but we left feeling more than satisfied. This is definitely one of those restaurants you go to and know that you want to visit again when the opportunity presents itself. The proprietors are just outstanding and make the place memorable. I cannot add more the reviews already here except to affirm that this place is absolutely one of the best you will find anywhere. Plan ahead! Highly recommended.

Every course was delicious and well thought out. The flavors were delicious. Everyone was not just friendly, but very enthusiastic about the food and intent on making the meal enjoyable. We had the wilted spinach salad (dressing was divine with the bacon), the French onion soup (warm crusted cheese was just perfect), the crab cake (could tell there were Maryland roots), the salmon (yum!), and the swan ice cream dessert with divine chocolate ganache (we scraped the plate clean it was so good). Long story short: highly recommend Only caveat: it's small, so a reservation probably couldn't hurt

I was planning on a meal at what was formerly The Bean only to discover they were gone and replaced by The Silver Fork. Lucky Manchester! It is still an intimate setting but re-imagined as an extremely tasteful and elegant understated space. Greeted by co-owner Melodie I was immediately put at ease. She set the tone: friendly but also respectful of guests desire for engagement or reserve. Frankly she was a bunch of fun to chat with. Her husband, Micheal rules the kitchen. They made their way here after many years in Ponce, PR where they owned a restaurant and earned many "Silver Fork" awards (hence the restaurant name). I won't say I am a big fan of green olives but the tapenade served with rosemary flatbread was a delight. My app was a Wild Mushroom crepe made with a portion of the spectacular and locally foraged hen of the forest mushroom. Glass of Mas Sorello wine. Entree was cod atop gondulez stew (less poetically: pigeon pea legumes). And dessert was fresh roasted figs wrapped with filo dough with mascarpone cheese and a balsamic drizzle. Glass of Pinot Noir with that. Perfect meal. (I loved the eclectic wine list--they obviously have fun seeking out little known gems.) This is what dining is supposed to be. Excellent food, comfortable yet elegant setting. And good spirits: both in company and beverage!

Best restaurant we've been to thus far in Vermont! At the Equinox for an event for the weekend and saw the rave reviews, so had to try it. Wow, just an outstanding experience. Their drinks were great (started with the Bloody Cesar Martini) and had the 'House Special' app of chicken chunks (on the bone) lightly fried (no coating) and tossed with lime, garlic and cilantro - so easy, yet so delicious! For an entree, had the Shrimp Mofongo - wow, that sauce just pops with flavor in your mouth! Had to try desert when I saw the Ganache Hot Chocolate with Homemade Donut Drops, just decadent! Tiny place, only six tables with an additional 5 bar seats, so make your reservations ahead. The owner Melody was very welcoming and gratious, stopping by our table to check on us and giving us some history on the place. Waitstaff was wonderful. Overall just a fantastic experience.

The food is very eclectic and with lots of international ingredients. We got some duck duckrolls (get it?) and the cheese soup (complete with scissors to help you cut through the thick cheese!) to start. Also two very tasty and generous martinis. Entree for me was the salmon strudel, which sounded new/strange and was DELICIOUS and butter filled. I've never had salmon like that before. There's only 6 tables and a handful of seats at the bar; we were there in VT's off-season but there was only one time available when we called to make a reservation. So call early! Turns out the waitress is the chef's wife, so she was super knowledgeable and also raving about everything on the menu, which was very sweet. Only complaint is that it's a bit pricey, but the food is amazing so it's definitely worth it for a big night out!

Outstanding. Everything has already been said. Great food, very nice and friendly owners, and a wonderful decor. The wine choices are excellent (don't be afraid of the Chablis). We started with the Vivande (sp?) soup and then had a tasty Churrasco and Beef Stroganoff. The bread and tapenade were good as well. Reservations highly recommended.

Friendly staff, flavorful, passionate food and a wonderfully intimate atmosphere. What's not to like? First things first, this place is small. There are six tables with 4 chairs at each table. So be sure to make a reservation. The owners are extremely friendly. The chef came out a variety of times to speak to customers and his wife did the same. The chef has true passion and you can taste it in the food. My appetizer was a rolled plantain stuffed with a lobster and crab filling. it was served with lightly cooked green peppers on top of field greens. For dinner I had a Maryland style Crab cake that was 90% crab. It was served with what tasted like a home made tartar sauce and thinly sliced fresh french fries. These dishes were superbly cooked and seasoned. Dessert was a trio for us. We had a home made mini cheese cake, a chocolate brownie/cake (very light and fluffy) topped with candied pecans and a frozen coconut custard with a light cream sauce around the plate and a plate of apple beignets. I was expecting a dough beignet with apples on top. Instead the apples were breaded and fried like a beignet and tossed lightly with powdered sugar topped with a small scoop of homemade cinnamon ice cream. If you find yourself in Manchester and would like a very intimate and delicious meal, you must go to the Silver Fork.

Authors note: I'm from NYC where good food is highly competitive between chefs and readily available at a reasonable (NYC) price to all who know where to go. My wife and I just got back from an evening at Silver Fork. This place came highly recommended both as shown through Yelp, as well as through the concierge and other staff at our hotel. Having only a few tables and very positive yelp reviews set my expectations that this is going to be some good food. Furthermore, walking into the resetaurant and surrounding the walls you cant help but notice the various awards and medals received by the chef. While all of this is setting high expectations, you will find from my rating and following description that my satisfaction with this restaurant did not meet these expectations. For starters, my wife ordered their French onion soup and I ordered their spinach salad with Roma tomatoes and bacon. While the french onion soup was mentioned as being less salty than others, my wife still found it to be just as salty, if not more than most French onion soups. My spinach salad was good, however towards the bottom of the dish it was clear they had used too much dressing as the salad became almost potent in vinegar taste. For our main dish my wife ordered the scallops wrapped in prosciutto, and I got a salmon dish wrapped in filo dough. My wife, who loves prosciutto, felt again that the dish was too salty mainly attributed to the prosciutto surrounding the scallops. Furthermore, the scallops were nicely sized, but we're not cooked properly creating a toughness, almost meaty chew. My dish also seemed wrong as the salmon had a distinct fishy smell (which fresh fish should not have). The taste of the salmon seemed as though it was poor quality. After these two dishes we decided it was not worth taking a chance on dessert as the dishes are fairly expensive for what they are. While I did not have problems with portions, as someone else had noted, the quality and taste of the food was not satisfactory. The staff and ambiance were all quite nice, however I had a much better tasting meal costing nearly half the price the night earlier further down the street.

This is a cute little place with limited seating so definitely make reservations. I liked their drink menu as it had lots of variety and unique cocktails. The bread that they start you with is very good and loved the dipping sauces. Overall though, our meal was just average based on the price we paid. When we paid $30 for chicken marsala, we were expecting it to blow us away, but it was lack luster. The service was really good...but to be honest, it was almost too good. We were trying to have a nice dinner for the two of us but were constantly interrupted. We are all about good service, but also give us some time to ourselves. My salmon strudel was good (unique too) but not something I would likely order again. Overall, Silver Fork is definitely one of the top restaurants for a small town like Manchester and a place I'd recommend if you're looking for a fine dining experience in the area, but it's not a place I would go out of my way to go back.

One of my new favorite places. The Hostess / Owner was incredibly nice and friendly, attentive. The warm spinach salad was very good, as was a special chicken appetizer we tried. Main course of pulled pork on gnocchi was incredible - and the portion was what I would consider very large. An excellent value for the price. For dessert the chocolate mousse was also larger than expected, and the almond brittle cup was an unexpected twist. Overall if you are in Manchester, you must try this place, but make a reservation. They can only seat about 25 people, and I highly recommend an early reservation at 5 or 6 in order to note be eating in a full room - I think you'll get a little more attention and get to know the owners!

I don't even know what to say. This place is incredibly good. It costs over $150 for two of us, but it was definitely worth it. We had to TRY to find something to complain about. The crust on the chocolate shell that the ridiculously good homemade mousse was served in was a little overpowering, but the fact that we even ordered a dessert demonstrates how impressed we were with Silver Fork. We were stuffed and we never order dessert, but we just wanted MORE. OMG.

  • Alex M.

Talk of an eclectic menu! I had an excellent Puerto Rican chicharrón de pollo followed by a wienerschnittsel. My friend had a delicious peach with goat cheese followed by a first class rack of lamb. My only criticism are the thick, chunky glasses they serve their with their wine. Good wine deserves crystal. Despite this, this is a serious restaurant worthy of a visit.

I'm so happy we decided to have dinner here while on vacation in Manchester. This place is only a couple months old which is why we didn't find much info about it online (they don't have a website yet and only a few reviews on yelp). Despite the lack of info we decided to give it a shot. Wow were we impressed. Every dish we had was absolutely delish. We had the French onion soup with fried onion rings piled on top. The dish came with a pair of little scissors to help you cut through the thick layer of cheese. Nice touch. We also had the spinach salad with bacon, the veal lasagna, and the veal ragu with hen of the woods mushrooms and hand made pasta. For dessert we had the warm cheesecake with bananas, chocolate, caramel, and ice cream. The restaurant is small with only 6 tables and a few seats at the bar so call ahead. It had a nice, homey vibe with the chef making a point to come out and chat with guests. You can tell this guy loves what he does. This restaurant will no doubt be a hit as the word spreads. I would definitely return and highly recommend it!

Flat-out one of the best restaurants we've ever been to anywhere. The food is exceptional - creative entrees (salmon strudel!), complex sauces, prepared to perfection. The service is beyond attentive - in addition to our server, the owner's wife, Melody, works the room constantly. The wine service is like no other - ask for a recommendation and you're likely to have 3 or 4 sampler glasses served so you can choose, and the pours are strong. And the attention to detail is superb - we asked for an extra touch for dessert (some of their obscenely good chocolate ganache to go with the bread pudding) and they did so without hesitation. The place is intimate, the decor is cool and the prices are as good as other restaurants in the area that aren't nearly as good. If you're going to have one fine-dining meal in Manchester, this is it.

Great choice in Manchester. The diverse menu had me a little skeptical at first with its german, puerto rican, and vermont influences, but everything we got was well executed and served with a smile by the chef's wife. Cocktails were good - Good gin martini and the hot buttered rum was exceptional. It also had a nice atmosphere - not at all pretentious - everyone was super friendly. I would definitely go back. It's small - only 6-7 tables with seating for 5 at the bar, so definitely make a reservation.

Excellent restaurant. My husband and I dined at Silver Fork over New Year's weekend and we loved it. We first went for dinner and enjoyed it so much we went back the next day for lunch. It is a very small, cozy family run restaurant with exceptional food and a well thought out wine list. For dinner we started with the tuna tartar appetizer, a must, and the chicken and olive empanadillas. For entrees we had the duck, tender and melt in your mouth good, and the beef tenderloin. We finished off dinner with a warm after dinner cocktail and a tasty cheesecake. The next day we returned for lunch and enjoyed the cheese sampler, spinach salad and duck spring rolls. Silver Fork is a must, be sure to make a reservation.

Well, for me, this really WAS as good as it gets. I'd been meaning to get to this little tiny restaurant for months, but at last there for a very early supper when I snuck into a bar seat, everything was terrific. This is what I would call the best of the best... a small place with a shortened menus with all good things... really good things. I really don't want you to go there, for I'm hoping to have a seat at the bar when it is I turn up. Warm staff and owners, and appreciative customers. The praises are with good reason. This is NOT Friendly's or any other group mimicking corporate stuff. This is the real deal. It is nice, it is delicious, it is perfect... if you think/taste as it is I do, this is great. Don't go... save me a place.

While on a weekend getaway in mid November, disappointed that 2 of the local restaurants recommended to us were not open on Sunday or Monday night, we searched for a nice place for dinner. Recommended by some of the staff at the hotel we were staying at and after checking on yelp we made a reservation here and were so glad we did. As mentioned the restaurant is small, intimate, cozy, decorated beautifully and the couple that own it are really nice and truly want you to enjoy your experience. Food was fantastic (roasted beet salad, scallop appetizer ,pulled chicken pasta dish, pistachio crusted tenderloin dish, brownie sundae). This will surely be a hot spot come summer!

I cannot say enough about this restaurant. The food, wine selection, service and ambiance are PERFECT. The room is intimate and the staff are super friendly without being intrusive. Dinner will run about $50/person with an appetizer, entree, glass of wine, dessert and coffee. It's worth every penny. I highly recommend the lamb entree. It's out of this world!

We visited the Silver Fork last weekend for dinner as guests of friends who have already become regulars. It would have been difficult for the restaurant to live up to their rave reviews, and it surpassed them. I knew things were looking good when I saw Plymouth gin and Hendricks gin behind the bar--two of my favorites that are hard to find in restaurants (Plymouth was the official gin of the British navy and Churchill's favorite). I started with an excellent and generous martini. The "cherries on top" were olives hand-stuffed with blue cheese that morning by the owner. For me, restaurant menus often fall in two categories--difficult to decide because nothing looks good or difficult to decide because so many things look good. This was definitely the latter. My choices were wonderful (lentil soup with Andouille sausage and onions, rack of lamb encrusted with goat cheese and apple beignets). Perhaps the best part of the evening was the personal attention from the owner (and wife of the chef-owner)--she welcomes you warmly, explains the menu with passion for her husband's cooking, takes your order and checks back frequently. Silver Fork is a jewel.

My fiancé and I were in Manchester for a pre-wedding, relaxation weekend. We decided to stop into the Silver Fork on a Friday night, but the tiny restaurant was packed and booked until close. We made a reservation for the following evening and the waiter we spoke with, was happy to make a few suggestions of places that would have availability (wow, so kind!). Our dinner the following evening at the Silver Fork was superb. The ambiance of the restaurant is nothing short of charming; the staff is exceptionally nice - particularly Melody, the chef's wife - and the food is out of this world. As you can imagine, as a couple that is getting married in a few weeks, we are trying to look our best and keep our figures slim. The meal at the Silver Fork could have been light and healthful, but after our first course arrived, we both decided a splurge was in order. Before we tasted anything off the menu, the bread was delicious - I could not stop eating it! We then had the muscles (AMAZING) then went on to order the fettuccini alfredo and crab cake - both were to die for! The crab cake in particular was perhaps the best crab cake I have ever had in my entire life. Although we were stuffed, we ordered dessert and ate every morsel of the delectable blueberry cobbler. I say this with no bit of exaggeration - this was one of the best dining experiences my fiancé and I have ever had. If you are in the Manchester area, it is a place not to miss!

Well, Nice spot, lovely staff , good wine selection. We ordered four different plates and were warned some could be spicy. I have had spicier food at a senior citizens home! It was bland. We were very disappointed with each dish. Would I go back? Hmmmmmmm, only if everything else was closed or I wanted a great glass of wine!. I am so sorry it did not live up to our expectations.
