Great people, service and food! We went on a Friday night to celebrate my son's birthday. They couldn't have been nicer - allowed us to bring in a few little decorations, used our birthday plates and napkins for dessert... Made it so special. Service couldn't have been better - Mary rocked everything and provided great advice. We had great wine at a good value. Food ranged from: oysters (so fresh) to prime rib, hangar, filet, and strip, with veggies on the side. Kids and adults loved the salad bar. Everything was cooked perfectly. Two years in a row having our son's birthday at Sam's...looking forward to next year.

We arrived and were immediately seated in the bar dining area. I probably would have preferred to have sat in the dining room but this was ok. Patty was our waitress and she was full of energy and knowledge. I had asked about prime rib vs hangar steak and her honest response won me over. She said that I could probably get a good prime rib at any Ludlow restaurant but the Prime Hangar was one of the best cuts available. It was fantastic. My son had the ribs and the meat was perfectly seasoned and just fell off the bone. We shared the seared tuna appetizer which was full of flavor and very nicely served. The salad bar, included with the meal, was full of fresh tasty items and the bleu cheese dressing was thick and chunky. Great place to have a filling tasty meal. I would like to be in the dining room next time as the only drawback was the dark lighting and noise level of the bar area. The dining room looked much more civilized.

We heard good things about Sam's from our hotel clerk so decided to try it for the first time on this trip over Labor Day. We wanted casual with kids menu and clerk said we'd be comfortable in shorts even though it looked like a fancy place. He was right. Was filled with families and couples dressed every which way on Sunday night so we fit right in. Salad bar caught our eye and was full of good looking veggies. Everything looked nice and our choices were fresh. Apps were oysters and shrimp cocktail. Both good but shrimp was enourmous! So big nest time we'll share one. Ordered filet mignon and my wife had baked lobster tail. The filet was amazingly tender and delicious and she raved about the sweetness of the lobster. Service was very friendly to us and our 5 year old which made for a very nice casual evening. We'll be back for skiing!

I had dinner here last Saturday night with a small group of people. The ambiance was nice and our server was attentive and friendly. We started out with the bacon and calamari appetizer. Both were very good. I had the stuffed shrimp dish as my entree. It was delicious. All three others got steaks and were happy with their entrees as well. You get the salad bar with any entree, and it is the best salad bar that I have had in a long time. For dessert we shared the brownie sundae and cheesecake. The cheesecake was just ok, but the brownie sundae was amazing!

Been here dozens of times over the years and am completely satisfied with every visit. A true gem and a must visit for anyone vacationing at Okemo. Great prime rib (it's the only thing I ever get) and a great, fresh and creative salad bar. However, the truly special part of Sam's is the service - super friendly and helpful and they remember you year after year (it's crazy how good they remember their customers).

Usually, I am a die hard fan of Sams Steakhouse and really enjoy their food. However, this time, I was not that impressed. The steak was like chewing on a Goodyear Tire and the service wasn't that good. It was like I wasn't really welcome there to begin with and I was in the way. I would still recommend Sam's to anyone as I think this was a fluke. I think you can do better next time let's see!

I have now frequented Sam's several times. Each experience has been equally wonderful. To start, the host/owner is warm and friendly. With a big smile, we were led to a comfortable table. The wait staff is charming, efficient and makes the dining experience even more special. The salad and bread bar included with each entree is large with many choices including three different lettuce choices in addition to baby spinach. The dressings are delicious and making a second trip to the salad bar is hard to resist. I began my meal with the French Onion soup. The broth had just the right proportions of salt, onions, broth and cheese. I love the prime rib which is a generous portion no matter what the size. The end cuts have been available on each visit and the fresh horseradish or creamy horseradish sauce are both available. The mashed potatoes were creamy and flavorful. My dinner companion ordered a fish dish which he said was perfectly cooked and almost creamy in texture. I have been so full on each visit that I have never had room for desert so I can't comment on that part. They sure looked delicious though. I have passed by Sam's for years on my trips from Connecticut to Vermont but never stopped until recently. The prices are reasonable and I will now make Sam's a part of my travels. Bravo!!!

Larisa our waitress was the best, very professional and knowledgeable about both the food menu and the cocktail/wine list, food was amazing and the atmosphere just incredible, I wish we knew this place before, please if you are reading this review you MUST try it, and ask For Larisa

This place continues to impress me and my wife. The meals are very generous and prepared to perfection. The staff are very friendly and courteous. I have a few food allergies and they go out of their way to satisfy my needs

I enjoyed my meal here and the service was excellent. What wasn't excellent was watching the butcher come into the men's room wearing his bloody apron, using the urinal, and exiting WITHOUT WASHING HIS HANDS. I'm thankful that I'm a vegetarian but wasn't happy to have to inform my meat-eating family.

Sam's delivers time and time again. They always have nice cuts of meat, and they are certainly not lying when they say Prime Rib is a house specialty. Prime Rib fans need not look any further on the menu. Your order is set, but for the rest of us there are plenty of options to choose from. They have a great selection of Surf 'n Turf. I suggest the King Crab Legs. I always go with the bone-in ribeye. It is fantastic, never disappointed. Asparagus is a must here as a side. As for the restaurant, it is very spacious and nicely decorated. Nothing ostentatious, but definitely a welcoming steakhouse atmosphere. Makes you want to relax, have a drink and savor a good dinner. The salad bar is something that I really only see in Ludlow, VT. They have a great one. Everything is fresh, and it makes you feel better about the slab of meat you are about to take down. Sam's offers a very comprehensive wine list hitting a number of price ranges and tastes. They also offer a solid selection of beer including a number of local breweries. It can get crowded in the high season...no surprise...so you may want to make reservations.

The beacon and hanger steak were perfect. This is the best meal I have ever had in Vermont! The staff was gracious and kind to my friends and family. I highly recommend Sams.

This is a nice restaurant. Nice atmosphere, decent staff. The food is what earns three stars. I actually would give it an extra half star if I could. I got the crab cakes, my wife got the french onion soup and salad. The crab cakes were described as jumbo, but they were medium-sized at best. Taste was good, not great. The french onion soup was good enough but not any different from lesser restaurants. All entrees earn a trip to the salad bar for salad and bread. The salad bar was very ordinary. Just like any other restaurant. i would praise them for having beets. And the beets were very good. The bread from the bread bar was fresh but not particularly good. Just okay. I am impressed that they could accommodate our large group. I gather this is one of the better/nicer restaurants in Ludlow. Worth a visit but keep in mind it's pricey.

Always loved Sams... Been coming here every year for the last 10 years or so during ski season and look forward to coming here whenever I am in the area. Definitely my go-to place in Ludlow for a relaxing, pleasant meal and I've been to all of them in the area. Service has always been very good and the food is excellent. Yes, it's on the pricey side but I think that it's worth it. Especially like the dark interior and salad bar which is very old-school but well appointed and fresh - all selections are maintained and the salad bars are very clean. As with most Okemo area restaurants, it's family friendly so you can expect kids (always well-behaved in my experience) throughout the dining room but I like the fact that they have a room in the back that seems to be specifically for families (although it's no different in decor or in any other way other than the fact that it's a more defined area). Even with families, sound level in the dining room never seems to be loud, though - always very relaxed. Great prime rib and New York strip steaks (prime) and always grilled to perfection. Walked in cold after a long drive without any reservation at 5:15 or so with family of four Wednesday night for New Year's eve and they sat us right away (and I am by no means a regular or local). The host at the front door took very good care of us and slipped us in to an open table which I very much appreciated. New Year's price fix menu was $55 for adults and $25 for kids which I thought was reasonable for New Year's eve - extensive salad bar, selection of (prime) steak, prime rib, rack of lamb, grilled salmon, etc. with a selection of three desserts. Waitress was very sharp and kept a nice pace going with us until about 7pm for the next seating. Wife and I both ordered the New York prime steak medium rare and it came to the table exactly that way - perfectly cooked and very tasty. Will definitely come back and am already looking forward to the next visit. Keep up the good work!

There are not a lot of great places to eat in the area. If you want a low risk meat and potatoes kind of place, this will work. The service is decent though not the type of place where your tea glass will never be empty. But they are pleasant enough. I had the dry aged bone in ribeye, theoretically medium rare. The meat had nice flavor but was noticeably over cooked. The highlight of the meal was the salad and bread bar. Fresh salad items laid out for your enjoyment, if you are a big fans of salad bars, you shouldn't be disappointed here.

Understaffed!!! AND, God Forbid, a tour bus pulls in or there is a large party in the rear dining area, cause you're gonna be doomed... pay for what you've already received and run for the door. Salad bar wait could result in a significant waiting line. A 75 minute dining experience can easily turn into an extended dinner with leg spasms setting in..... Food - eh, so-so....

I had the oportunity to eat here on a Tuesday night. I was with a longtime friend who is the pickiest eater I have ever known! We were only staying nearby overnight and didn't want to eat at the very pricey hotel restaurant, so we set out to find some steak for dinner. We blindly came upon this restaurant and said "why not give it a shot?" I am so glad we did! I got the small prime rib with plain mashed potatoes (real). It was fabulous and cooked and seasoned perfectly. My very picky friend got a special of the night which was pork tenderloin with garlic mashed potatoes. She loved it and said the pork was very tender and juicy. We both took advantage of the very well stocked salad bar. I got the usual salad fixings and a small scoop of potato salad. I also had my salad with Russian dsg. I believe it was homemade! I also believe the potato salad was homemade, it definitely wasn't the standard potato salad, two loaves of homemade bread were also available to slice at the end of the salad bar and I highly recommend you induldge in a slice. I found the restaurant clean and our waitress was great, attentive but not intrusive. I thought the meal was very reasonably priced and exactly what we needed after a long day of traveling. If I am ever in this area again I will definitely come back to this hidden gem of a restaurant! The locals are very lucky to have this steakhouse in their backyard! Enjoy!

Dinner @ Sam's last evening was enjoyable. Prompt, attentive waitress. Our group had the swordfish, stuffed shrimp and crab cakes; all tastefully prepared and presented. Huge salad bar! Recent reviews made us wary as we were guests of friends, but we were pleasantly surprised. Don't understand the poor, recent reviews.

More leg room at tables , but other than that the water was really good and quality. Plus the napkins were prime. Lastly, if you have TMD don't chew gum. Had a piece of unknown food on spoon.

Sam's is a local hot-spot, for vacationers enjoying the beautiful Vermont Summer, or skiing Okemo Mountain in the winter. Its very low key, but also nice inside... The key here is the salad bar. Its large and has fresh choices... the salad bar comes with the main entrees but also can be purchased stand alone. Its a bit pricey for the area, but that comes with being a mountain resort town. However, its definitely worth it and a fun experience with groups for families or just sitting at the bar with someone. I would highly recommend trying this out, and I think you will want to come back. Entrees are great too... try the roast pork tenderloin...

Sam's is more than a great place to get a steak! It's really THE place to go in Ludlow when you're in need of a great meal. FOOD- Sam's French Onion Soup-tons of gooey Gruyere cheese in lovely rich broth. Salad bar - comes with entrée wonderful healthy options & crusty bread. Their Prime Hanger Steak- so delicious, juicy & fresh. Baked Sea Scallops-Light & cooked just right. Yummy. Ambiance-Cozy, warm, clean, very nice. Service-A bit worried we would be in for a long to wait as the place seemed full. Was pleasantly surprised when they sat us right away. Kid friendly as well.

Sam's was a great last minute choice to grab dinnner on a Friday night in VT.The service was exceptional and the food was satisfying. Sams has more of a family laid back feel compared to other typical steak houses. The salad bar was extensive but seemed to lack a lot of healthy options that i prefer to see in a salad bar. I also thought it was in an awkward spot up against the ktichen the main dining room with access to only one side of the bar. I also found it interesting that mashed potatoes were not part of the main menu options- but were part of a special offered that night. The steaks were cooked as requested and good but I have had better in other restaurants. I would recommend Sams to anyone visiting Ludlow looking for a friendly family oriented sit down dinner. With limited options in the small ski resort town, it's a decent option that I would go back to..

Okay since my last post I found out Sam's was sold. It prevented me from going because the consensus around town is it is poorly managed, which I saw first hand and heard from my house guests. Most of the original staff is gone, the salad bar, while still good las time I went, was slightly reduced in offerings. I need to hear good things about Sams before I go back again.

I ate here solo on a Friday night during mud season but the restaurant seemed full-staffed for the off-time of year. Mine was a solo mission to scout rentals. Maybe a 2.5 star due to inconsistency of food/service at this price level. Salad bar - a throwback - stocks a good spread of fresh vegetables versus non veggie "salads." A plus for me but not all. French onion soup was flavorless and uninspired. Beef - strip steak - was quite good and perfectly cooked but the cut wasnt what I ordered. I wanted the dry-aged bone in steaks and got a boneless wet aged strip. Expensive for the quality. Updated review: ate here again in Dec 2014after a year away. The menu has changed slightly and yet is much improved. The staff are service oriented and attentive. The prime rib is amazingly tender. Decor seems improved. It seems to me there's been a lot of little changes that combined make a big difference. I look forward to coming back again and again.

We arrived for dinner, and despite a bustling dining room, we were greeted graciously and seated fairly quickly. We were smack in the middle of the first dining room by the salad bar, not the best seat in the house. Our server was attentive. And I could see staff regularly refilling items on the salad bar. Food was not as good as the service. It was just okay. We had the bone in steak with blue cheese, the rack of bbq ribs, and mac and cheese for the vegetarian at the table. We all had the salad bar as well. There was a decent, if predictable, selection of fixings at the salad bar. Food came out at a decent pace. It's just that I've had better steaks and for $110 for a party of three (tip and one glass of wine included), I wanted just a bit more quality.

I really liked this place. The steaks were excellent. We had the small filet mignon, hanger steak and the wet sirloin. All cooked to perfection. The service was excellent and the salad bar, which is included offers a wide variety. For the area the total bill was higher than what we had been paying.. But it's a good deal for what you get. The decor is ok. Lively place, great for the family.

Had to review.. it was EXCELLENT!!!!!!! I was very impressed with the salad bar.. 4 kinds of greens.. and a varied selection of items.. not your typical selection.. it was a nice selection and ALL was Fresh.. and filled to the top.. and home made bread was very good.. 2 types to choose from.. and it was on the salad bar... I had the Sirloin Steak Peppercorn cream sauce... (this is my favorite... Steak au poivre) it was not a powerful sauce but it did have the taste of the peppercorns and they were present.. it was a mild .. sauce.. very good.. very good.. had the bread pudding with whiskey sauce... which was a nice ending... no complaints and the server Jessica... was up beat and gave me great service... I do want to comment .. the hostess.. was very busy ..not your typical hostess that stands by the entrance waiting for people coming in.. she as clearing and setting up tables... the wait people are all very nice... I am sure you will enjoy this restaurant.. okay.. now lets get serious.. the price.. is pricey... but I must say.. my Sirloin was well worth it... and YES would go back when I am in the area... You know if you want good quality food you have to be pricey... $32 for the Steak.. It was worth it... and would probably do it again.. OH... forgot... I ordered.. medium rare. and was done just right... so.. I have no complaints... every thing was very good.. Enjoy...

From the outside, you would expect this place to be tired and dated. And you would be wrong. Mostly. It is a bit dated, but in a good way. Who else still has a salad bar? But it is terrific. One of the best features of this place. Lots of fresh veggies. And the steak is top shelf too. Cooked to order and pretty tender. Is it Morton's or Ruth's Chris? No. But that's not fair. It's a very solid place to relax after a day of skiing or golf. Best part: Really child-friendly and great for groups. And early bird specials that are really good too.

We were a party of six on a Sunday night and had only a little wait. The bar/ lounge is very cozy with leather couches in different nooks. WE all ordered different things and all came out just fine and delicious - Sirloin, Ribeye, Specialty Sirloin, Crabcakes and the Duck special. Also ordered family style sides of mushrooms, grilled onions and creamed spinach. They have a fabulous salad and bread bar too. A great place to go for a hearty meal after a day on the slopes.

Deceptive management practices... 5:00pm reservation ( New Years Eve they take reservations). Arrived on time, restaurant was still empty. Yet my teenage children and i were seated in bar area behind a high wall, sharing space with computer the staff uses to enter orders...why? ( salad bar is on the other side of the restaurant as well ) Our waitress was great and immediately asked if we were informed of the $55.00 prix fix, she said she already experienced other diners who were upset not being told , ..."No Mary we were not told either but its New Years Eve, we will not get in anywhere at this point" ... Earlier, I had spoken with a woman over the phone @ 1:30 who asked for my CREDIT CARD to hold the 5pm reservation, but no mention of prix fix $$...i called back at 4:00 and spoke to the same woman, reserving the table at @ 5pm, still no mention of prix fix $$ even thou i told the same woman my children and i would be in and out quickly, tired from skiing.... why not??? My daughter is vegan and wanted onion soup or grilled vegetables, but there was no regular menu, she was limited to a salad bar and dessert for $55.00.... my prime rib which is usually $18.00 was $55.00 with a dessert... appetizers were over and above the $55.00 and no drinks were included. We will not return and this is the first time i have ever reviewed...they rip off people on The New Year? Your gonna have an interesting 2015

This place was amazing except they didn't have mashed potatoes or French fries. They have a large fresh salad bar with many options to eat. Ordered the BBQ ribs and they were amazingly devious. I would recommend this place to anyone. With the option of the salad bar with any entrees makes it worth it. Service was OK, more of a local atmosphere but all an all would go back again in a heart beat. If you have the opportunity, it is a must try in this region.

Food and service were fantastic!! The salad bar was great and the rib-eye steak was probably the best steak I've ever had in my life, and we go out a lot. My wife's filet mignon and lobster tail were very good.

Sam's from the outside doesn't look much but inside its like a smile classy steakhouse. It is rather dark inside even with candlelight but the ambiance is really nice. Wine list is extensive and you can find many bottles with prices ranging from $30 up to a $100 plus. So there is something for every budget. My bf and I dined here primarily for the dry aged steaks. So good! Although, without realizing till after, the waitress had mixed up our orders and we each got the same entree. but overall, it was excellent. We had the peppercorn encrusted dry ages New York strip, that comes topped off with Gorgonzola butter with a side of potato or rice pilaf. The steaks were cooked to our preference. There is a disclaimer on the menu that says that they are not responsible for meals ordered well done. Hah! I wonder how many times they have goofed on this one! Luckily our steaks came out to what we liked. We ordered sides of butternut squash and steamed broccoli. Be warned when you ordered the broccoli. I am thinking its going to be cut up, no it's a crown of broccoli with some hollandaise sauce accompanying it. Each entrée, comes with the salad and bread car. The salad bar is a really good one, there's mixed greens or spinach and so many toppings like broccoli, cherry tomatoes, green peppers, alfalfa, shaved carrots, etc. there is so potato and pasta salad, as well as cole slaw. Overall, our meal with a bottle of wine came out to just under $120 not including tip. Pretty good!

We drove over to Ludlow last night and had dinner at Sam's. I was rewarded with one of the best steaks I've ever had, a dry aged Rib eye, a tremendous salad bar, and great service. Pricy, but worth the money in my opinion.

On a recent trip to Ludlow we decided to give Sam's a try. I have only one word to describe it. WOW! Hubby had the peppercorn encrusted NY Strip with the Gorgonzola butter and I had the ribeye. Hands down, we both agreed they were probably the best steaks we have EVER had....EVER! The flavor was just to die for. Service was great, food was great. Prices were a little higher than usual, but these weren't your typical steaks. It was worth every penny. My only question is can Sam's open a restaurant in Albany, NY?

CAVEAT - we sat down around 9:30, they close at 10, and we were the only people there. Also, the issues outlined below would likely be more forgivable if the menu wasn't so outrageously expensive. So our group of 5 grizzly dudes showed up at the end of a bourbon-fueled and not-so-ski-centric skiing weekend. In need of some serious protein, the dudes were seriously let down. The meal started out well enough with a round of bourbons. However, when it came time to order wine, nobody in the restaurant could pair a glass of wine with our steaks. The salad bar was pretty average, as was the service. The steaks were both over under cooked, and the sides seemed like they had been sitting under heat lamps all night. The low-point was the order of king crab legs. I'm not saying that they were microwaved, but that would explain the texture of the meat and the shell's Stretch Armstrong-esque texture. With all the great chefs in the area, you can do better.

Best BBQ ribs in town. Great salad bar that comes with every entrée. Baked macaroni and cheese is incredible. Save room for the fudge brownie sundae. It's worth it! Service is good. Not the fastest place in town, but it is a nice place to sit, relax, and enjoy a good meal. 3-4 rooms of tables give ample room to seat a lot of patrons. You shouldn't have to wait long to get a table, unless you go at 6:00pm during prime ski season of course. Prices are not too bad for a good steakhouse. $150 tip included for a family of 4 to eat dinner, dessert, and a few drinks.

Dark place that is increasingly louder each time I come. Good steak for the location (you are in the middle of rural Vermont, you can't expect much).

They must be kidding This place is awful. It is filthy, the food is mediocre at best and the service is truck stop poor. They treated us like we were an inconvenience which I could have survived had the food been good. I had the prime rib. How can you screw up prime rib? I'll tell you. When they buy a cheap grade of beef and don't season it. Awful. Salad bar, awful. Ribs, awful. Burgers, awful. With at least three other great restaurants in Ludlow steer clear of this loser.

Sams is known for their dry-aged steaks, so don't go expecting anything other than a small town steak house. I recently took my Dad here for his birthday (since Downtown Grocery is closed on Wednesdays) and had a really nice, relaxing evening sitting in the over sized leather couches in the bar room. This place is a little dated on the inside, but if you want a great steak, you can over look the ambiance. We ordered our meals and headed over to the giant salad bar. Lots of toppings, fresh veggies and an assortment of dressings was nice to see. Sams is the kind of place that you would see in the early 1990s; the servers are all wearing white shirts and ties and they try hard to be fine dining, but it just can't happen at a place like this. This is not to say however, that the steaks are not absolutely fantastic.

My friends and I went here over the weekend and for the most part, it was good. Our waitress was trying a little to hard to be our friend, which was slightly offputting. She made a comment about bringing us a pitcher of vodka instead of water-- a little inappropriate if you ask me. The food was just okay. The salad bar was great. Lots of veggies, dressings, and toppings to choose from. My friend Lauren got the crab cakes as her entree-- very disappointing. They were too bready and tasted like canned crab. Bob and Cory got the ribs which were pretty good. Their portions were good, unlike the crab cakes. L got 2 little patties and a baked potato. For $24, I would have expected a little more. My dinner however was delicious. I had the braised shortrib special. It came with a brown gravy that had carrots and onions in it and potatoes au gratin on the side. It was so good. But I would only go back to the restaurant if they were in the menu.

Took my boyfriend here for his 25th birthday. It was great - and Mary the waitress was great! The food was perfect - I had the Salmon & he had their specialty - the aged 180z steak. Both were very well prepared. Definitely worth the price! Also their Apple Crisp is off the hook!

As this was my first "experience" with Sam's Steakhouse, I expected great things (from comments of previous diners)...boy, was I surprised! The food was good, but not worth the price, but my biggest complaint was with service. We had extended periods waiting for our waiter to take our order...to receive our salads and bread...and then a v-e-r-r-r-y long wait for our main course. When one of our party asked if they were extra busy, our waiter just sluffed off the comment as nothing...not even bothering to reply. Sour cream was asked to accompany the baked potato, and we finally received it when we were almost done with the meal. WE WERE NOT VERY PLEASED with the service or the overall impression of Sam's. Cost did not equal the value of meal and service. Kay

We ate here some time ago and just recently found it again. The bread, salad and food was amazing. Can't wait to go back.

Will never go for New Years Eve again. Got charged fixed price of $55 per person for food that in a normal night MIGHT be $30-35. What a rip off! Fool me once....

This is our go-to spot when we eat out in Ludlow during the ski season. The food is consistently good, especially if you're craving a steak. My favorite part is the extensive salad bar, which comes complete with fresh, warm baked bread -- the cinnamon is beyond delish. They get very busy in the height of the season though, so make reservations early, especially if you have a big group!

We went to Sam's Steakhouse twice on our 5 night stay at Okemo. Each time it was a wonderful experience. We had filet mignon, New York strip steak, ahi tuna appetizer, grilled salmon, baked scallops, grilled lamb chops, creme brûlée . All of it was prepared to perfection. Service is very attentive but not overwhelming. You shouldn't leave Okemo without trying this restaurant.

We ate here at about 8 on a Saturday night and were seated right away. I got the prime rib which was excellent and my bf got the dry aged ribeye which was ok. Our meals came with the salad bar which had a pretty decent offering including potato salad, coleslaw, etc. No hardboiled eggs or french dressing, but still a good salad. Overall, it was a good, reasonably priced meal and we'd go back.

One of our favorite steakhouses anywhere, this is becoming a regular stop and a highlight in our trips to Ludlow. I usually get the porterhouse or rib eye, love the salad bar. In fact, once we ate here late and they took away the salad bar 30m before close and I was looking for another salad. So, the waitress made a custom plate up for me, great service! And of course a nice bottle of wine makes every meal special.

The BEST lobster I've ever had! So good I didn't even want to dip it in butter.

Consistently good. Food is always fresh and well prepared. The menu is straightforward, properly cooked steaks, sweet lobster and tasty desserts. The service is friendly and attentive, price is reasonable. We go to Sam's every time we come to Vermont

I had a 2 week business trip up in the area and ate at Sam's twice. I was alone so both times I sat at the bar and Mike was my bartender. By far the best meal I had it town. The dry aged ribeye is phenomenal and cooked to perfection. Mike is the most personable bartender in town, although, it is not they type of bar you stay at all night. May be the best steakhouse I have ever been to

A good steakhouse and a clearly a popular choice, as the parking lot is always full. Pretty much what you would expect in this price range and location.

We narrowed our dinner choices to Sam's Steak House and Panarello's Italian Restaurant and chose Sam's. Great choice! The food was great, including the grilled salmon, the London broil, and the flat iron steak. The entrees include the all-you-can-eat salad bar which was quite impressive. They also have a very good variety of entrees to choose from. The service was also great -- attentive and friendly wait staff who made us feel quite welcome. There aren't many dinner choices in Ludlow but I highly recommend Sam's.

Visited Sam's twice this past week and had a great meal both times. Not fancy but excellent food quality and freshness. Attentive and knowledgeable service. Recommend if you're in the area.

Other reviews must have been written by the staff. Sure the parking lot is packed- at early bird's time. You don't get a lot for their early bird meals and it's very mediocre in every aspect. Paying full price does get you a larger meal, but definitely not in the 5-star category. There are much better choices nearby.
