I went here on 08/02 with my boyfriend, sister and her husband during our vacation in Fletcher, VT. We were curious about what other dining options Jeffersonville had to offer, as we had already tried 158 Main St. Bakery with delicious results. The Mix proved to be an excellent choice. I ordered a smoked salmon sandwich without the onions (it came with lettuce, tomato, cream cheese and capers) on wheat toast, and I had some homemade cranberry juice as well. Holy Mother of God, that cranberry juice was unlike any juice I've ever drank. Surely this must be the nectar the gods in ancient Greece drank up in Mt. Olympus. It was tart and sweet, but not overpowering, and there were bits and pieces of cranberry scattered throughout to give it a little extra kick. I didn't care if it was $3.50 a glass; it was divine. As for my smoked salmon sandwich, I enjoyed it very much; the fishy flavor of the salmon was offset by the salty bite of the capers, and the lettuce and tomato were crisp and fresh). Our server, Justin, was very friendly and prompt, and didn't seem to mind our inability to come to a quick decision on what we wanted to order (seriously, almost all the menu options looked awesome). We promised him we'd be back for another breakfast/brunch for our return trip home, but sadly, The Mix was closed due to a local music/arts festival on the 8th. Boo! Next year, The Mix. Next year.
Heard good things about this place, so we drove 45 minutes to try it out. We waited 40 minutes for a table and then another 30 minutes for breakfast. When breakfast finally arrived, we wished we'd stayed home. The beet and kale hash really had no flavor. Kale looked like it came out of a bag from Hannafords. Poached eggs were cooked so they were completely hard (6 or 7 minutes hard). When I asked for another order of eggs to replace my hard ones, the waiter returned to our table no fewer than 3 times to check and re-check that I really wanted to replace my hard eggs with two soft ones. I ensured him I did. 15 minutes later, when I finally received 2 more eggs, they too were completely hard. I didn't have the heart or the patience to complain again. Also, the eggs were definitely not fresh, local farm eggs as the waiter claimed. I know fresh eggs when I eat them and these were not fresh. This place has the pretense of serving local food, but we weren't served any. The service is slow, the food is lacking in flavor and it doesn't appear to be cooked with any flair. No reason to return.
Now that was a great breakfast! The creme brule french toast was delicious. The bacon, egg, and potatoes were cooked well and seasoned perfectly. I tried the maple milk, and it tasted like a milkshake. It's location on a sidestreet made it a little hard to find, but I'm glad we took the time to look.

This was a very pleasant surprise! The cheese plate with roasted garlic was great, the prime rib was delicious and wild boar gnocchi was yum. The apple crumb cake for dessert was also a yummy treat (thanks for packing it up for us). The service was really good and the bathrooms were very clean.
Food was amazing service was awesome, love the unique local concept of the menu. I had an amazing steak, my boyfriend tried the special which he loved. It's awesome that you can find such an amazing restaurant on the mountain, I will definitely return if back in the area.
I love this place! The service is fast and friendly, and the food is delicious. My family and I always enjoy eating downstairs, but the upstairs sun room is really pretty too. We started with a cheese plate, that included various types of Vermont cheeses. It was amazing! I especially loved the blue cheese. For my main course, I got the Vermont chicken, which was sweet and beautifully cooked. My dad got an impressive chicken pot pie, that was golden at the top, and full of fresh vegetables. The kids menus was also great. They had lots of options for kids that don't want to eat a little kids meal. We will defiantly be returning to hearth and candle.

Wow what a great find!! Amazing food! We had the French onion burger with sweet potato fries and maple mustard...SO good!! Fish and chips...the fish was huge and so very good! Also the burger in a bowl (which is a burger over disco fries)...amazing! So delicious! And also the zucchini Parmesan pasta (exact name of it I can't remember). Also so good! This place was fantastic and am hoping to go again before heading back home to FL. Wish we could take this place back home with us!!

We visited with a group of 20 and our server did a very good job of handling the group. Dinner took a long time, but that is expected with so many folks. Most of the food was very good, hot and plentiful when served. I had the pork chimichanga and it was excellent. Deep fried, hot inside but not overloaded with spices. Appetizers were good, we had several, but I enjoyed the poppers. We have several food allergies in the group and they were very accommodating. WARNING: the chips contain wheat, so if you have a gluten intolerance, stay away. That got one of our group. Margaritas were pretty good. The room were were in was ok, but warm as there was no A/C and it was a warm evening. Bathrooms were gross. I hate that, makes you wonder what the kitchen is like. Overall they were 3.5 stars but I rounded up because of how hard the server tried.
If you are in the mood for a fresh Margarita while vacationing at Smuggler's Notch Vermont, or you're a local resident with a craving for a burrito, this is the place to go! With an incredible variety of Mexican foods (i.e. everything from fajitas to chimichangas), and an assortment of creative, original cocktails and local beer options, this place is sure not to disappoint! Very kid friendly, and they even have karaoke on Thursday nights, as well as local bands playing on Saturday nights! Service is Definitely a spot to try if you haven't yet! P.S. They make a mean "Tavern Bistec" (STEAK!)
El Stinko! Nothing good to say here. Had the shrimp, tiny. No flavor. Every dish tasted the same. Dull! Went with a party of nine and not one person was happy with their meal. The service was slow and not exactly friendly.

For 17 (yes, 17!) years, my family and I have been going to stay at Smugg's in August. Every August, we make it a point to go to the aptly nick-named "Hummingbird Restaurant". Why? Because they hang sugar-water feeders and plant flowers to lure the birds for watching while you eat- *ask for the window seat*!!!! Stella Notte is and has always been a staple part of our vacation. We couldn't have asked for a better experience all the times we've eaten there, this visit included for certain. The food is always delicious, HUGE portions and HUGE flavor- inventive specials and unlikely combinations with Italian inspiration. The most convenient part is that they are literally across the street from Smuggler's Notch Resort. The reason to go is that they are family owned and operated, utilize fresh local ingredients, have a great wine/beer selection, and pump the romantic Sinatra music for your swooning pleasure. You may want to hang on the banister to visit the restroom downstairs- but the old house and its Van Gogh inspired decor are worth all the steep steps! lol
No way is this place only 2 stars, all the good reviews of Stella Notte are filtered out. Shame on you Yelp! Too bad, The food is good, service is friendly. Upstairs is casual dining for families and couples, downstairs in the lounge is a pizza, beer and wing divey type bar. On ALL the other review sites Stella Notte gets 3.5 or more stars. I REALLY do not know why this place gets a 1.5 star review. Oh wait, yes I do... most of the GOOD reviews have been filtered. We went here because we were traveling and visiting friends in Jeffersonville and our good friend is a server here. She was working that night and served both my and her family. I ordered the chicken and sausage risotto. It was cooked to perfection and was full of rich and delicate flavors. My husband ordered the chicken parmigiana and all but licked his plate clean. I made note to try the tomato sauce because one of the foul reviews mentioned that it was too sweet and obviously from a jar. The color of the sauce was that of freshly diced tomatoes. In fact, I could see chunks of diced tomatoes. The flavor was mild, sweet in that fresh tomato kind of sweet way, and fresh herbs were obviously used to flavor the sauce. It was really good. The owners are making the food fresh here, daily. You'd have to be lacking in tastebuds to think this stuff comes from a can/jar. Editing my review: I forgot about the clam chowder. It was a bit on the salty side, but it was fresh, with chunky clams and the broth was not too thick. I really enjoyed it. The restaurant itself is casual with plenty of space for large groups. It is very family friendly. If only Jeffersonville wasn't on the other side of the country...
