Asta's was a wonderful experience. Asta's operates as a Bed & Breakfast with an adjoining restaurant. Guests of the B&B are given priority for restaurant seating, but there is also plenty of seating available to other visitors traveling from out of town or who live locally. Bonnie and Chef Michel are the owner/operators, and are absolutely wonderful hosts. My wife and I stayed at the B&B for a long weekend and had a fantastic time. The restaurant serves authentic Swiss cuisine, and our meals were fantastic. I grew up with a Swiss mom and know what Roesti is supposed to taste like, and Swiss-born, educated and trained Chef Michel knows Swiss cuisine. My wife had the Salmon Vermontaise which was wonderful, and I had the Duck a L'Orange which was succulent and delicious. We strongly recommend the Matterhorn for desert; coming from Swiss roots I am a chocolate fanatic, and this dessert doesn't disappoint. I travel and dine internationally on a regular basis, and Asta's restaurant can hold its own against any classic European dining experience. At the B&B, we were greeted cordially on arrival and Bonnie and Michel made us feel very welcome to share their home for the weekend. We did not feel that we were intruding into their space, on the contrary we were made to feel at home and were very comfortable. We had plenty of private space and were treated to cider and snacks in the afternoons. Our room was meticulously clean, comfortable, and newly renovated with a TV, fireplace, comfortable sofa, and very comfortable bed. We enjoyed fresh flowers in the room, and high-quality linens and bath appointments. The room had access to the outdoor balcony in front, and a nice view of the property and river in the back. As many other businesses and homes, Asta's was hit hard by Tropical Storm Irene in 2011, but you could not tell as the inn was absolutely beautiful. Breakfast was provided as part of the B&B package, and Chef Michel treated us to a delicious meal each morning. We had omelettes, muesli in the traditional style, a Swiss version of French toast, and plenty of fruit. Thank you Bonnie and Michel for a wonderful weekend getaway, we can't wait to come back.

I've been twice now and had a fabulous experience both times. The atmosphere is quaint, romantic with a nice small bar & fireplace. The hosts are a wonderful married swiss couple and their pup Zack. Its one of the last few places that still gives you a salad with your meal, and the vermont maple balsamic makes you want to lick your plate clean. The plate size is also perfect. Its a regular size plate, almost as if your Mom cooked your meal, except your Mom can't cook this good. I recommend the Chicken Zurchoise, my personal fav. Also, they make the desserts in house and if you order one once your stuck ordering dessert forever because they are THAT good. The materhorn and the creme brulee are definitely the standout stars. The prices are also reasonable and many wine bottles under $30. I can't wait to return.

Decided to try another Swiss restaurant in VT. Walked in and was seated immediately with no reservation. The hostess was terrific. Came here after seeing the menu on-line, was looking forward to Duck Rillette & Frogs legs. Daily duck pate was sold out and no frog's legs - slightly disappointed - oh well. Ordered a glass of wine and three appetizers escargot, reclette & onion soup. Escargot was quite good, the classic parsley, basil, garlic and butter with toast points - yum. Raclette melted cheese, boiled potato, cornichons & warm roll - another yum. Onion soup - absolutely perfect, nice melted, crusty cheese & crunchy crouton under and perfect beef broth, flavorful and not salty. Will be back for the Wiener Schnitzel. The service was fast & very friendly. The hostess commented she liked the idea of having multiple appetizers versus one appetizer & and entree. Would recommend. NO AMEX

As this is a restaurant with 3 rooms, yelp should categorize under food, not hotels. Schnitzel as gourmet food, fondue and all authentic Swiss cuisine from chef Michel and his wife, Bonnie who take great care of patrons.

OK! We swung in & had the special : Bouillabaise My aunt used to cook this for us. It has been years since I have had anything that nearly compared to hers let alone surpass it! This was A+++++. Our dinner was heavenly and the waitress lovely.

I recently went here for dinner, and while the service was friendly, the food was uninspiring. The duck a l'orange was dry and stringy and clearly had been prepared days before. It reminded me a bit of the TV dinners we used to eat when I was a kid. The salad and side dishes were edible but unremarkable, and the creme brulee was also disappointing. For the prices they charge, the food should have been much better.

Best schnitzel. This is the place to get an authentic Swiss/German meal. This is not nouveau cuisine, but well executed classic preparations. The Euro-sized portions of Rosti, veggies and cabbage were a very nice and appropriate balance to the meals. It is not a $$ price range as shown on Google.

After a long ride from New Jersey to Vermont we checked into our rooms at the Three Mountain Inn. It was getting late and so we asked our Inn Keepers for a late night dinner suggestion. Asta's Swiss restaurant was just three doors down the street from the Inn. We shared the cheese fondue with a bottle of wine along with some good conversation. A prefect evening after a a long day. I would try this place again on another ski trip to Stratton Mountain.

Real swiss/German food. Nice beer garden. Fantastic dinner menu. Lunch in the summer is available along the river behind the restaurant.

We came here on Christmas eve. Staff seemed completely out of tune. Wrong dishes were ordered, waiter keep dropping utensils around our table. Food was OK, but was expecting better :( We were quite disappointed by the whole experience.

A top notch dining experience in the wilds of Vermont. Who knew or expected this? And it's not just Swiss; more old style continental. Not a micro green in sight. This is a chef owned gem. Take it slow though, nothing leaves his kitchen 'til it's right, so don't expect to race, or be rushed through your meal. Have a bottle of wine from the ample list and relax. You're on vacation, aren't you?

I stopped at Asta's while I waited for the rest of my ski party to make the drive up from NY. My cell phone wasn't getting service and the waiter was kind enough to let me make a long distance phone call. While I waited for my party to arrive I order a glass of white wine and made conversation with the waiter. Once my party arrived they joined me for another drink and some appetizers. The cheese plate was plentiful, the smoked salmon delicious, and the crab cakes devine! Their beer selection is top notch and they pride themselves on quality Belgium beers. This restaurant may seem a bit out of place for a quaint Vermont ski town but the service is impeccable and it offers a refreshing change of pace. I hope to return for the apres ski fondue hour!
