Major winner here, top marks on the food, charm, and service. We showed up 15 min after it opened on a Sunday and there was only one other couple there. But by the time we left, the place was packed. Secret is out that this place is amazing. We ordered the pork carnitas omelette and the French toast. The pork carnitas were juicy, flavorful and not too salty. It was complemented nicely by the fresh tomato salsa and the sour cream. The home fries were also excellent. I chose the croissant bread for the French toast and added grilled banana and blueberries. It was light, airy and crispy around the edges. In addition to coffee they have a large selection of drinks including Boylan sodas and Diet Dr. Pepper so for me that pretty much earns them another star, but not like they needed it because it's a 5 star place. Service was great. Style is order at the counter then pick your seat and they bring it to you. They were friendly, pleasant and made just enough small talk to win me over. The inside is very quaint and charming. Spoiler alert...if you love kitschy chicken decor, you're going to love this place.
Close your eyes and point to something on the menu; you just can't go wrong here. ...Unless of course your planning anything other than a nap later, then you may want to stick to the sandwiches.
Been here twice during our last visit in Vermont. Friendly team, really good and fresh breakfast. We made special Omelets just the kind we like. Recommended.

Hungry and waiting for a oil change! We've been to this pizza hut on several occasions, but have yet til review. A better than average pizza hut, well in comparison to the pizza hut in St. Albans! We got a large stuffed crust pizza with extra cheese and pepperoni and a order of mozz sticks. The sticks were a little on the burnt side but it was barely noticeable. The pizza was greasy but perfect! It was super cheesy, cooked til it was golden brown on the bottom and was much better than expected. It's no secret I love raspberry iced tea, here they do it well. I actually got a raspberry tea lemonade. The raspberry taste is present while the tea isn't too sweet or bitter. It was pretty great plus free refills! Our waitress, Kayla, was just flat out wonderful, friendly, upbeat and attentive. She had a really cute personality! I don't think I've experienced such positive service. Good food for a decent price with great service in a no rush environment!
Smelled so good, was ready for pick up on time. Very happy, and better than any other Pizza Hut I've been too.
Well Pizza Hut was our last destination this weekend for going out! I have not been here in a few years. Its pretty much your run of the mill Pizza Hut. You walk in and you can smell the pizza right away! Made me super hungry and ready to buckle down and eat! So that is what we did. We got sat by the hostess pretty quickly and out waitress even came over quickly to take drink orders. After that she gave us a moment to look over the menu and we decided to get a pizza, pasta dish and the salad bar as our app! However, after that the waitress still came over from time to time but getting a drink refill was a little bit on the slow side. They didn't appear to be super busy so the service at that point was just a little bit lacking. Otherwise our food came out great and even tasted good. Bill was reasonable at $30.00 for 2 people. So over all for the amount of food that we got it was more than fair! They currently have a promo going with their pizza's that ANY size and amount of toppings is just $10! Not a bad deal. So over all Pizza Hut was good! They make a great lunch stop or a good simple dinner option. While Pizza Hut is lacking in a "WOW" factor they shine with a great price! Just makes for a great greasy night out and I can see my self returning.

Simple, no-frills Vietnamese cuisine at reasonable prices. The vegetables were quite fresh, and the portions were large. The fish sauce that went with the bun and rice dishes was tasty and unique compared to others I've had. I'd describe the atmosphere as friendly, casual, and cozy.
Horrible service, went here three times. Last time was the worst. I was the only person in restaurant and I felt ignored. The waiter was more interested in reading his book, doing homework, than serving customers. Food was okay but unremarkable. Tough meat with much gristle - I didn't order the sinew bits that some people like, it was supposed to be lean beef. Awful. But the service is what really puts me off. Hate it.
God, I love this place. If you treat the staff as people, they will treat you like family in return. The food's great, try the #23 (it comes with egg roll chunks!) and ask for half or no spice if you aren't ready for a moderately spicy meal. Prices are great, the food is high quality, the tea is delicious and free; the place is perpetually clean as a whistle, bathroom included.

Tasty! I have gotten donuts here before and loved them. When my hubby and I were in recently, though, I got a bagel and he an apple turnover. The bagel was delicious, but the turnover dough was a little on the dry side. The place has a diner-esque feel that is cozy and welcoming and is a nice meeting place for an "older clientele". The folks eating the day we were in were quite friendly. This is a pretty classic bakery and although it could use a little bit of an update, it's worth stop if you want to pick up some donuts for the family.
What a find! great place and great prices
I've been coming here for baked goods ever since I was a kid. Today I thought I would try some breakfast, now I know why I hadn't tried it before today. First of all they an out of home fries, i'm not really sure how that happens. There's a grocery store next to them, it's not hard to cut up a few potatoes and fry them or pick up some frozen ones. The over easy eggs were undercooked but the bacon was good, the toast with butter was delicious .They don't accept cards but have an ATM that charges $2.00 to take money out. The best part of course was the waitress that decided to regale each customer with her story about being urinated on by a baby she had been babysitting the night before. On the plus side at least she spoke to the customers. While I was waiting for my food to be cooked some other customers walked in, the wait staff had to be told that patrons had walked in in need of service.

Our household loves this place. The falafel is the best in Vermont and the portions are quite large. Great chicken platters and wonderful sweets. Service and prices are spot on.
Tried this place for the first time last week. I am generally not a lover of Greek food, but I enjoyed my lunch here. I had the falafel special that came with fries. The falafel were moist and well seasoned, and the french fries were done well. My husband had the lamb Gyro and liked it as well. My only critique would be that when my party arrived, we were not sure if we were supposed to go in and order or if the waitress would attend to us at the table we chose outside. She did eventually come out to help us, but a sign asking to order inside or wait for a server would have been helpful.
We went there last night with another couple based on the wonderful write-up in Seven Days. We thought we were walking into the wrong door and did a double take. It looks nothing like the pictures in Seven Days. It was filthy, a table in the corner stock piled with boxes and junk. It was very odorous and filthy. We left. I had to give one star in order to leave a post.

I can't say much about this Simon's as I payed at the pump and did not need to go into the store for anything. The egress and ingress to/from RTE 15 isn't too bad here as it is a pretty clear straightaway on 15. There is decent parking for a convenience store and the pumps are fairly spaced so as not to feel jammed in. The free air seemed to be out of order when I was there. Grounds are also kept fairly tidy with plenty of towels available if needed at outdoor dispensers. I'll re-review if I ever do go back for the store/deli.

Subway

If you've been to any Subway, let's face it, you've already been to Subway. But having visited 3 different ones in the state I'd have to say that the Essex Junction location seems to have it together. It handles peak traffic around lunchtime (12-1:30) efficiently without undue waiting. They always have a large enough staff to work the sandwich construction smoothly. They never appear to run out of what I want and they keep the place quite clean. Staff is always friendly and easy-going even through the busy times. I have yet to run into anyone working here who doesn't seem happy or grateful for working there. That tells me that management is on the job and doing well. Plenty of options for kids. My daughter graduated up from the "kids' pack" to getting her own 6 inch sandwich which works for her and she can decide what she does and doesn't want on it. Kids love that kind of power. Tip: get yourself a club card. I've been able to get so many free sandwiches on points it's kind of ridiculous.
Great subway - everything you would expect. Clean, friendly staff, quick service. Well managed! I'm a frequent customer.
Very clean! Great service! Good owner! ALl very hard things to beat! I enjoy the subway in Essex and only Essex at the moment. No other subway at this point and time can even compare! Its well ran! Anyone looking for a cheap lunch or dinner this might be the place!

I love the veggie supreme! So good and loaded with veggies! This is a big plus for a vegetarian
I ordered a large pepperoni pizza, a large meat lovers pizza and a small veggie supreme pizza from the specialty menu, as well as cinnamon dots. Everything was great! The staff were friendly and professional. I ordered take-out, but the dining room looked like a nice place for a relaxing dinner.
The daily special is always great....2 slices and a fountain drink for $5.00....life is good. The staff here is always super with service .

I've been here a number of times because I like their Philly. Usually the service is ok and the food good. Last night, unfortunately, may have been my last visit though. To start, I tried calling for over an hour. No answer. I had developed such a hankering for a Philly that I drove over around 8:30. The young man at the front was sitting behind the counter doing something on his cell phone. I asked if I could order and he had to ask his "boss" (possibly an owner) if he could take my order and kept looking at the clock. the boss seemed annoyed about making my order. I mentioned that the website and the sign on the door both say they're open until I0pm, and the boss muttered something in a bit of a gruff tone, and the young man told me "well, our closing time depends on the night. There's supposed to be three or four of us tonight and it's just us two. It was really busy earlier, too, so we're tired." I was floored. They didn't seem to have any orders at the time, and had ignored the phone for over an hour... they clearly didn't WANT to take more orders. I've been in that position before, where I've had to work a double because someone called out. You plaster on a smile and the customer/guest shouldn't know you're tired. Each one should be made to feel appreciated and valued. I felt like a burden to these people. Normally the food makes up for the service. Last night, this was not the case. The poutine was warmed (maybe to melt the cheese so I wouldn't know if it was really curds or not) in the pizza oven in a foil take out container. First time I've seen poutine done that way. The fries were burned and stuck to the bottom and edges of the container, along with some of the cheese. My Philly was totally different than usual - it seemed like it had concentrated flavor and was very very salty. I don't know why! Maybe they cooked the meat in the grill scrapings because they were annoyed I ordered?? I couldn't even eat the whole thing. The wings were ok. Good size, meaty, crispy. But the sauces, which were also good, didn't stick to the wings. The garlic parm was just garlic butter, and the Buffalo sauce was VERY thin. I guess it's time to find a new Philly place :-/
I am extremely sad.. It seems this wonderful family owned business went under... Please come back!!!!!!
We were staying at a nearby hotel and wanted to try something other than the hotel food. We found this place online and decided to give it a try! We were a large party of 9 adults, a 2 yr old, 5 month and 4 month old. This place was small inside but fit us all nicely. They have a large variety of foods at reasonable prices. We got the wings which we absolutely loved, Philly cheese steak which was also really good, fries, and a bunch of salads. I would definitely recommend checking this place out if you are in the area!

They were surprisingly busy for a Tuesday night at 5:30 but we were still seated and served in a short amount of time. Mozzarella sticks were great, nice and crispy, my friend got the Alfredo and loved it! I got the Chicken Antonio and chose the pasta side over a salad but it was so much food as a dinner portion that I didn't even dig into the spaghetti- totally fine, it's gonna be great with the last bit of the chicken antonio tomorrow for lunch! We got one huge brownie to take with us to the movie theater and it was perfect for sharing. Loved it! Will be back.
A little expensive, but their sandwiches and pizzas are some of the best I've ever had.
Fantastic fresh food!! Whether take out or eat in always delicious! Great pizza, awesome salads and always a good dinner special. Friendly waitstaff and comfy atmosphere. Tend to be busy so sometimes a wait.,.but worth it!! Tonight was pizza, brought it home perfect end to the day!!
