We had our employee annual pizza dinner after our annual bowling marathon. There was 24 of us and we had pre arranged a reservation with a pre set menu. On arrival the table was nicely pre set with the salads. From there the service by Jessica was outstanding and the pizzas were excellent. A very enjoyable evening it was. Thanks Juniors for taking care of us.

Authentic Italian recipes they say? here is how they make it 1. get some chicken fingers from the kids menu overcook them 2. boil some pasta 3.put them together and cover them with cheese and marinara sauce 4. serve 5. charge $18- That's authentic old world recipes!!

The, hands down, WORST Chicken Parm I have ever had. Several very small pieces of deep fried, leather tough, paper thin chicken, I think. If this is an example of the rest of their menu I will pass on future visits. I actually sent one piece of chicken like substance back because I couldn't even cut it with a knife only to return with a sub par replacement. I never send food back. Service at the bar was good though.

Ordered some pizza's to go. Was having family and friends over for pizza and wine. This is not my normal pizza place but someone wanted to try it. They had heard it was pretty "authentic". I probably would have been better off grabbing frozen from the grocery store or would have been happier to eat peanut butter and jelly. This pizza was probably the WORSE pizza I have eaten in this state. I think the customer service made it taste even worse. Dough was especially thin in the middle causing the pies to fall apart in the center. The crust around the pizza was about 4 inches thick and had the texture of tree bark. Pizza was wet, soggy, lacked cheese and all of the toppings were thrown in one spot versus being dispersed around. Artichokes tasted like the old can they came out of. 3 pizzas was a pretty good chunk out of 80 dollars. The counter person was especially rude and somewhat uninterested. The place was pretty busy, leading me to believe that people just don't know any better. I called and complained to someone who stated he was a manager. I am assuming from the excuses he gave he was either lying or unexperienced. The pizzas were so inedible that we ended up scraping the pizza night in and ended up going out for dinner. So $$ lost on the pizza and ended up spending more to have an "edible" meal. Don't waste your time or your money.

Easy to order over the phone for takeout. Fresh antipasto salad with good lettuce rolled meat and cheese. Also black olives red onion tomato cucumber and pepperoncini. Pepperoncini tasted bad. The rest of the salad ingredients were fine and the house Italian dressing sealed the deal. Pizza was very good and made exactly how it was ordered. Fast efficient service and fresh great tasting food

It is brand new, building isn't even on any satellite maps of the area. Pretty standard Italian style food, definitely on the pricier side of things. Odd, because although I sat at the bar, decor in the dining area seemed a little tacky, lots of deep reds. Pimpin it... Food was good, house favorite chicken dish (kitchen left out the sausage though) was viciously spicy but VERY cheesy and flavorful. Help were nice and accommodating. Don't know that I'll be back soon as bang for the buck was less than I prefer, but if you're staying next door it's worth a look.

Food is about average and service was good but rushed likely due to long line of people waiting for tables. Must be very popular with locals.

Not impressed with Junior's. Overpriced - they charged $20 for a med veggie. Not worth it, very disappointed with taste.

Second best or perhaps tied for first (with American Flatbread) for best Pizza in the Burlington area. Best Sicilian Style pizza I've had anywhere. Subs and pasta have also been quite good. Service is excellent and almost always very fast. Their new location behind Burger King has tons of parking.

Great place to grab a fresh garden salad and slice of pizza.

This is now JUNIOR'S ITALIAN, not just Junior's Pizzeria. Mediterranean décor. There is a pizzeria on one end of the building, a restaurant on the other and a full bar between. We had dinner at the restaurant. There was a bowl of grated Parmesan and a bottle of olive oil at the table. Food was very good (Chicken Marsala, and Pasta With Clam Sauce), generous portions, and very good service. Dinner service included a large spoon for winding the pasta - without having to ask for one. Modest prices. No annoying "background" music. We would go there again.

This is a terrific place for a good pizza or italian dinner. Very good traditional thin crust pizza, nice and chewy, not too much sauce or too cheesy. Highly recommend the penne with vodka sauce. Really can't go wrong here.

Ate at the casual side last night. Food was good but the young people on Friday night are in a FOG! One blond at the register, ignored me for over 5 minutes while I stood there waving cash in front of her. She was busy retrieving something from the register/computer and writing on a piece of paper. Two feet away and she never, once looked up at me. I was close to walking out. There were four others in line behind me just as frustrated. I wanted to ask if she could at least acknowledge me and get someone there that was aware of what a CUSTOMER is, but then I'd get the silent treatment. Frankie, do you read these? You need to train the newer staff better. When you had your old location down the road, the people there hustled and knew how to earn tips. That's gone now. Hopefully not forever. I'll think about coming back.

I have been to Junior's a few times now, and have yet to leave disappointed. The staff is always friendly although usually overwhelmed with the amount of people in the restaurant and the food is always very good. From the pizza to the pasta and the desert every dish I have ordered on the menu has been delicious. If you are planning on dining at Juniors later in the week or on a weekend definitely make a reservation as it tends to be rather busy. Although most of their pasta dishes may be a little pricy they definitely give you a good amount of food, usually more than I can eat in one sitting. I highly recommend the chicken scarpariello pasta and the calamari to anyone thinking of dining at Juniors!

    (4)
  • Denise L.

This was my nephews choice for his graduation dinner. Our waitress was fantastic. The calamari, fried zucchini, and cheese stick appetizers were great. I enjoyed the hot bread. Everyone seemed to enjoy their dinners very much. Nice venue for larger groups.

I always love eating here, the food never disappoints! I love the pasta dishes, yum! The bread and baked goods from the bakery are delicious too!

Went for dinner the other night and was very disappointed with my meal. Ordered shrimp scampi. The spaghetti was soaked in too much sauce. The sauce was greasy, the oil was floating on top. The cloves of garlic looked like they were sitting in the sauce for days. Very few shrimp. Salad was served with the stem end of the tomato. Overall very unappetizing. Very disappointed with juniors. It's usually much better than that

    (2)
  • Doug M.

Overall food was bland. Avoid the calamari which I'm fairly sure isn't fresh, and if you add the banana peppers they bread them also which is not pleasant. The marinara that I had with the calamari was thick and just didn't taste right. I agree with the other reviewer about the piccata. I had chicken, not salmon, but I would say it was probably closer to half a jar of capers not a full one. Food was not timed well, and to top it off, a fruit fly flew past me..

    (2)
  • Doug B.

Pizza tonight was very disappointing. Crust not crisp and lacked flavor. Something sweet about the pizza that I couldn't quite place, but didn't enjoy.

    (2)
  • Me Y.

I use to love this place for the best linguini and red clam sauce, BUT alas it has failed me the last four times. The sauce is watery and has lost its flavor. When you pay these prices for pasta it better be good and it no longer is :-( I'm done going there.

Got a pizza from Juniors for dinner and it was burnt on top and bottom. How could someone running a business sell someone a pizza in this condition??? When I called and told them about the pizza they simply said I'm sorry. Never offered to deliver another pizza. You can be sure I will never buy a pizza again from Junior's and certainly will not recommend them to anyone.

    (1)
  • Steve A.

We've eaten Juniors pizza for years. It's been the gold standard to judge other pies against. Sadly, no more. Our last two pies were terrible. How can you burn the crust yet not cook the toppings? Tonite was our last pie at juniors. When we complained we were told that there was a ticket mixup. No, the cook said he never got our order. The bottom crust was burned and as crunchy as taco shellls. We complained, but it was $23+wasted. We didn't even get a refund or an apology. We left.

I ate here alone last night, and sometimes as a lone diner you can feel forgotten at a sit-down restaurant. This was not the case at Junior's. My server was quite attentive and very friendly. I ordered the pasta carbonara, and was given a GIGANTIC serving - I literally have enough leftovers for two more meals. The meal came with a little tossed salad, which was good with nice lettuce, onions, tomatoes, cukes, and DELICIOUS homemade blue cheese dressing - very creamy!! I enjoyed the foccacia bread that came with the meal, but I'm not sure what the little bread-fingers were - they almost seemed stale. Pros: Good service, large portions, homemade blue cheese dressing, yummy foccacia bread Cons: Weird bread-finger thingies with the foccacia that seemed stale

My husband & I had early dinner here upon our recent arrival. Found the place while getting gas. The service was excellent..it was the early, 4-5pm dinner hour. The lasagna was excellent so says my husband; made thick with sauce, cheeses & sausage. The tortillini was great!. Made with solid pasta, cheeses and fresh broccoli. Dessert was creme brulet(?) & flourless amore cake with raspberry sauce....h e a v e n. :-)

If you are a meat lover yearning for a pasta dish, all you need to know at Junior's in Colchester is two words. Pasta Bolognese. Enjoy!

I'm not actually from around here, I'm from DC. However my father in-law brought my wife and I here years back when we were up visiting them in NY, back when they were in the old build right on the road. Over the years every time we've been up we've trekked over to JRs. The pizza alone is worth the drive. We have always ordered pizza and then order entrees to take back. The veal is normally solid as is the penne vodka. But if you are only going there as you are passing through you've got to go pizza.

Juniors the best pizza in the area hands down. Love eating in the bakery, very friendly young people serving, are equally nice if you order a whole bunch of food or one piece of pizza. If you want a desert on the run around Winooski, they have some pretty decent stuff. We went to eat in the restaurant last night, just lovely. It is comfortable seating, really nice atmosphere, and we had a superb wait lady. Jessie made the whole experience great, the food was almost as good as Jessie. The focaccia with melted cheese is all you need, add to that the yummy bread sticks and who needs anything else! We had linguini and meatballs and whole wheat rotini and clams both excellent. I had to save room for their excellent desert. Tiramisu, the best....

Good pizza, great pasta. The girl at the counter is pretty bitchy, and constantly seems like she hates you...

I stopped by twice in the past month because my friends love this place. The first time we ordered pizza and that was fine, but not great. The second time we ate in the restaurant, and it was horrible. The pasta with red clam sauce was watery and there was no flavor. The spaghetti and meatballs (that the server raved about and said were home made) were just horrible. No flavor, and the sauce was a flavorless, runny mess. The worst part was that I almost threw up halfway through the meal and I had to run to the bathroom. There are MUCH better places in the Burlington area for italian. Plus no WiFi!

Typical non-authentic Americanized Italian restaurant with the expected, but not tasty, menu items. We've been here twice--once on a Sunday and were disappointed so we went back a few months later on a Friday hoping for a better experience but it ended up playing out like Groundhogs Day. We even ordered the same thing: pasta with vodka sauce, chicken parm, and alfredo. Servings are huge but that doesn't make up for the lack passion and flavor...all three sauces we tried--alfredo, vodka, and marina--tasted and looked like they came out of a can or jar. Both the alfredo and vodka sauces were so thick that you could spackle a wall with them...ew! Guaranteed heart attack with the first bite. "Focaccia" (both times) was actually white flour pizza dough with mozzarella cheese melted on top--no herbs; therefore, not focaccia. Over promised and overpriced. Definitely not "authentic Italian" as advertised. Will not go back. There were two good things: the wine list and the friendly servers.

Wasn't awful, but wasn't great! Had the veggie lasagna and it was obviously a reheated frozen dish. The middle was still cold, while the surroundings were extremely hot. The fillings were mushy and lackluster. I really wanted to like this place! The free bread was great, service was acceptable but not too friendly.

My husband and I drove out of our way Saturday to grab a bite to eat at Junior's, leaving box store kingdom behind. The quantity of food for the price is awesome - we both got the lasagna, which we LOVED. I absolutely abhor ricotta cheese and their lasagna has just a very small smattering of the vile substance. I couldn't even taste it. If you love a meaty lasagna, this dish is heaven! For the low, low price of $12.95, it came with a small salad and bread. Total bill for two meals and one glass of wine was around $35 (with tip). Rarely does that happen these days! My one qualm was our waitress seemed discontented... or disinterested... not sure what to make of it really. But we've had far worse service elsewhere and it could have just been an off night.

The house chianti is excellent and reasonably priced. Started with a smal bowl of home made pasta fagioli a small salad with an entre of capellini pasta with white wine and clams. To be sure, I've never had such a fantastic bowl of pasta fagioli in my life. And I've been to Italy three times. Just get the soup in an extra large bowl and go to Rome. Nuf said. So much food I need to to have the rest of my capellini wrapped for take away. Kudos Junior's on the soup and the white wine clam sauce. Very very good, and reasonably priced.

Luckily we were seated promptly because out old Mothers could not wait. We were all hungry and this proved to be fortuitous as the portions were huge. The Caesar salads were plenty big enough to share with a home made tasting dressing and ample anchovy topping. My choice of Angel Hair pasta with scallops and a vodka cream sauce was a bit heavy and overdone. It benefited from the addition of more marinara sauce and some vegetables. My husbands chicken parm was also over sauced, too thin chicken pieces and too much breading. Our companions snapper served over a bed of spinach with a lemon sauce was fresh and generous. The waitress who looked like Sandra Bullock was friendly and adorable in that Vermonty way.

Due to luck of the draw we had not eaten here in a while. We have sure been missing out. The food was awesome. Dessert was so good. I had a salmon special and my wife had carbonara. Both were excellent. We are going to make it a regular stop for both sit down and take out

Some dishes are good but most are generally too rich. The first bite tastes great but eventually I have to give up because it's overwhelming, and I like rich food. The massive amounts of salt don't allow fresh ingredients to come through. I prefer to make my own food too salty. At these prices I would expect much higher quality ingredients. The ambiance sucks badly, it's always too loud and has the feel of a big box chain restaurant. My understanding is that this place is locally owned but it seems like their goal has been to re-create the Olive Garden but twice as expensive. I've been twice but will not go back. I know people that swear by this place, but I'll take Papa Franks over Junior's any day if I'm looking for cheap, rich Italian food.

Great pizza. And on a busy Saturday night my pizza was still ready at the time they told us it would be ready to pick up :)

Took a girls weekend trip to VT back in June and ended up staying at the Quality Inn next door to this restaurant. The drinks here were good, and the fried mozzarella was AWESOME. For my meal I ordered the chicken picatta (very typical menu, nothing out of the ordinary or exciting). The chicken was good, there was WAY too much pasta for me to even think about finishing, and - the one bad thing - it was swimming in a pool of butter/oil. I drained it onto my bread plate and did enjoy my meal. This place isn't anything special. But maybe I should have tried the pizza according to other reviews!

My dining experience at Junior's Italian restaurant was extremely dissapointing. The hostesses talked amongst themselves and ignored us when we came in. We had to get their attention. Our salads were swimming in dressing and the bread had no flavor. We ordered lasagna and shepards pie and pomodore. The lasagna was covered with way too much cheese and was very greasy. The shepards pie was topped with potatoes that had the consistency of polenta and was swimming in sauce that tasted like bbq sauce. The pomodore was linguini from a box and covered with canned tomatoes with a few spices thrown at it. The menu descriptions were misleading and the food was disgusting. I highly reccomend against it.

Worst Grinder ever. Sarcastic, angry service. Too bad, my family likes Juniors (liked). Veggie grinder was soaked and dripping with italian dressing. Waterlogged bread dissolved before I could eat it. No apologies or refunds from staff. Lady we ordered from was rude, impatient and seemed angry. Stormed around the dining room. Waitress said "dont take it personal she treats everyone that way"..... mmmm no. Not this customer. Happy to blog about great service, just as quick to post bad. Want good food and good service, take a break from Juniors until they provide training on customer service and review food quality control. Am emailing them this. Will report out if their response.

Always a disappointment. The Marsala is nasty brown water and the marinara sauce is bland! Bruschetta is the only thing I have ever actually enjoyed here. The pizza is ok but the girls working behind the counter are not very smart and get confused way to easily

  • Lee H.

Great restaurant. Generous serving of excellent food. Good pricing on an extensive wine list and very attentive service. I had eggplant parmesean and my husband had penne primavera w/white wine sauce. We followed that with an excellent dessert and brought home enough leftovers for a full meal. We'll definitely be going back.

Stopped in with my 6 year old niece and 11 year old cousin for a quick dinner. They were out of cheese slices at 6:30 which is the only reason they didn't get 5 stars. It was about 10 minutes until we got it but we did know we were getting fresh hot pizza! The side salad was a little overpriced but it was fresh and came out fast. The girls originally asked for pizza hut but I said there not a pizza hut in Burlington (OK I am not telling to truth to children). When we were leaving they said "We are so glad they didn't have a Pizza Hut - this was way better!"

Their chef salad is the best I have every had. Cheese and Ham rolled into pinwheel shapes. Yummy.

  • Helen L.

Not only was the food delicious, but they were totally willing to accommodate all my dietary restrictions. It is even stated on their menu that the will swap pasta for veggies for people on low carb diets, which is good for us Gluten free folk. I had the Zuppa di Pesce over broccoli and it was a.maz.ing . More seafood than you ever get in a dish like this and all perfectly cooked. I finished the plate but it was a struggle there was so much food! The staff was delightful and accommodating. We'll be back for sure!

Good, large pizzas. Pasta and salads are excellent. Waitstaff seems a bit uninterested, but it's a pizza joint. Definitely recommend. I've only done take-out and the pizza side of the house, but it's pretty nice. Good pricies, too.

I ordered takeout to be delivered to a hotel less than half a mile from the restaurant. I was told it would be about a half an hour. After an hour and a half I called and was told the guy had left withy order. The girl answering the phone even pretended to confirm my name and hotel. Fat chance. I finally accepted the fact that after 4 hours, I wasn't eating anything from Junior's. Hmmm, so I figured I would drop them a line on their web site. No such luck. A lame site that doesn't even provide an e-mail address to send them a private note. So here goes for the world to see... BTW, my wife and I ate here on a previous trip and it wasn't bad, but to get blown off so bad this time takes it off the list for good. Too bad because this area stinks for decent food.

  • Doug D.

Very disappointed. The service was slow. Our waitress let us wait 10 or so minutes before coming. We ordered wine when it did come our glasses were nasty. Had to send back food was not worth the price. Pizza take out was also very dirty. People gossiping whi,le most of tables were not even bussed or clean last time we had to ask for them to clean table. Gone downhill from the days Frankie was their daily

Great food and service. We arrived 10 minutes before close and were treated fabulously. Best Greek salad I have ever had. Cosmo was perfect.

Junior's renovated location features three distinct areas. A family-style, casual, self-service dining room, a comfortable bar, and a sit-down waiter-service dining room. Junior's serves some competent New York-style slices. Sitting in the bar area with my coworkers I sampled the stuffed meat-lovers, the Hawaiian, and the Margherita. All very tasty, although the crust on the stuffed was a bit doughy. The slices were sitting under the display case for a little while, although reheated they were still very good; flavorful toppings, pronounced sauce, and thin chewy crust. The bar features an ample selection of local beers.

New York Pizza and Pasta in Vermont? Juniors is what most in the area call "the best pizza around". I can't back that up since I was in the mood for some carb loading and pasta was #1 on my list. After a recommendation and a friendly call from the hotel front desk I was on my way over to Juniors on a weeknight after 9pm. The building seems brand new and stands out with it's huge reddish glowing sign above the door. Once inside the Italian eatery is split into 3 sections. Pizza/Bakery, bar and the Vino/Dining room. Walls are decorated with Italian Terra cotta colors and paintings. The vino room has built in wine racks with many bottles of wine. I pulled up a chair at the bar ordered a beer and dove into dissecting the menu. Pasta, pasta where are you???? Choices to say the least.....any pasta with any sauce you want. Like it! My choice- Angel hair, mushrooms, light cream sauce. Not the best ever but not bad either. Hit the spot for dinner with a small garden salad and some bread sticks to munch on. Next time I will try the pizza.

As a restaurant experience goes, Junior's is OK. They have what you would expect on a casual Italian restaurant menu: pizza, lasagna, pasta dishes, giant salads... But there really isn't anything about Junior's menu that makes it at all special. The food quality is decent and fairly consistent (for the 5 times I've eaten in the restaurant). The meatballs are quite good and on par with just about any other Italian place that does home made. The pizza is pretty good and also consistent on quality. Service is average with some waitstaff better at it than others here. I can't say I've ever had an actually bad service experience here. What I do seem to really like Junior's for is the small cafe style area they have off to the side that offers take out and by the slice orders with a seating area. I think this is what seems to work for me at this place. They usually have a good variety of pies available by the slice and the pastries are superb.

One of the few places that isn't downtown to get a decent slice. Friendly staff that takes care of you right away, pizza came out fast and hot with a crispy bottom and it was tasty. Big slices, too. Was exactly what I wanted. Also, I got a mini canolli, and it was awesome, they fill them right in front of you so you know it's not soggy and gross. On the contrary, it was crisp and tasty and the filling wasn't too sweet. Really nice to see that they do great cheap slices as well as their classy Italian food on the other side of the place.

Got delivery from juniors and based on the owners reputation in NY hoped it would a great meal. Unfortunately not. Baked ziti was overlooked (boiled) pasta with a slab of mozzarella barely melted on top. The pizza not very impressive either. One bright note, the bread "almost" Arthur Ave, excellent .

Amazing food, TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE in the pizzeria. The first time they BURNT my calzone, the second time they FORGOT to make my food entirely, the third time they gave me chicken parm pizza when I ordered a chicken parm pasta dinner and my final straw was last week. I called in a simple order of a small salad and a calzone at 2:00 sharp, I went to pick my food up on my way to work at 2:25 and they told me it would be right out... The pizza maker standing right there told me it would be "quick" as he hurried to grab dough to begin making my order!! Needless to say I absolutely love the food that is why I kept going back for more torment but I will NEVER GO THERE again!! They weren't even apologetic, there was not a single customer in the restaurant I can't imagine they what they were busy doing!!! If you are the owner of Juniors reading this please fire the idiots making pizza in the pizzeria, they are losing you customers!!

Quite good ! Service was good also, nothing to rave about but the food came out on time and was hot, our waitress was nice. We brought our two children (both under 3 yrs.) and had a booth to sit in. The place had a moderate notice level so it didn't matter if one of the kids made some noise which we liked. The bread they brought out before our meal was delicious!!! We ate all of it. For dinner we split a salad and an entree. The Dijon chicken meal was excellent, I think it was called chicken riviera? The Caesar salad was nothing to get excited over, standard to most Italian restaurants, though not over dressed, which my husband liked. Overall a great meal, we'd go back.

Scallops alla vodka - the most amazing dish ever! Jumbo scallops, mushrooms, pancetta and penne....yum!!! I went to Juniors on a whim 2 years ago with a coworker. We came back to our hotel late and couldn't be bothered with going anywhere far, so we reluctantly decided to go to the "generic looking" Italian restaurant across the parking lot from our hotel. The first thing you see when you walk in the door are photos of the owners family with Rudy Giuliani along with stories about how the family moved from NYC to Burlington VT. The decor is weird, but it makes no difference because the food is going to hold your attention!!! Every time I go to Burlington I have to eat at Juniors!!! Most people from Burlington haven't been to the restaurant in Colchester.. But have been to the pizza shop on Church St. Make the trip, you will NOT be sorry you did!!!

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.
