I had a wonderful lunch experience there today! It was my first time eating at Pingala, or any Vegan restaurant, but I promised to eat healthier in new year, and this restaurant will help me keep that promise! The food was outstanding! I can't wait to visit again. I had the taco and the taquitos. Both were excellent! Wonderful, fresh, and tasty.

Awesome tasting, great food that's also great for you and they've even got a great menu - all at a really reasonable price. Stopping here made my day. I know I'll be back next time I'm in the area.

A hidden gem of Burlington. Sits right along the Winooski river in a building that used to be a mill. Very charming atmosphere. As for the food, well I came here about 4 times over my weekend stay in town and EVERYTHING was delicious. Staff is super accommodating and friendly. I've had vegan food all over the country and this is definitely some of the best. Be sure to go for breakfast and lunch.

I ordered the ELT. It was good, I like the healthy aspect to it but it wasn't mouth wateringly amazing. It was on really really toasted white bread. I'll go back to try other things, still have hope for this cafe. They are quick with service And nice staff.

Down right amazing! From the people to the plants everything is amazing. Trevor and his team have amazing energy and are making waves in the plant based world. It's not all about the "vegan" label, they make creative & intriguing dishes made from love and REAL food. Oh and the baked goods? OH.MY.GOSH. Just perfection. Never stop making cupcakes. Their location is stellar as well. Right along the roaring Winooski River with outdoor seating and intimate seating inside. The beautiful mural is a snapshot of my fiancé and I's homesteading future and it makes us so happy to see. My two complaints? - the hours, you can work 24/7 right?! ;) - It takes me 2 hours to decide which dish to get because for once I can eat everything Keep it real and eat your veggies!

Fantastic food. I had the pancakes with berries and my son had the hash & scramble wrap. Both entrees were fresh and very filling. I could not finish the pancakes due to the large portion size (my son took care of that). Real maple syrup, of course, and cinnamon "butter". There are gluten-free options and a variety of baked goods. We'll definitely be back.

The five stars is because of the following: all vegan men, super gluten-free friendly choices, down to earth attitude, parking abundance, freshness, monumental menu, reasonable prices, adorable location, nice view, and plenty of outdoor+indoor seating. My only complaints for this American style cuisine is the hours: can you be open for more hours please???? So sad it has such a short opening window. This place is an invaluable gem. I LOVED it. I should move to Burlington just to keep eating here. They have a delightful breakfast menu that I missed, complete with a bountiful collection of espresso/ latte drinks, smoothies and juices. Perfect! On top of that, they then have an abundant selection of salads and sandwiches - very lunch-like menu... but, that's what they advertise: brekkie and lunch. Boy, do they deliver... in spades. Appetizers have some healthful choices like the delicious roasted broccoli bites with a nice creamy seed or nut-based spicy sauce. I wanted to try the Mexi-inspired food, like enchiladas, tacos and quesadillas, but really.... the gluten-free sandwich breads were what sold me. I always find the bread to be bland or crumbly, but they found the perfect one for their infamous ELT sandwich. Umm... who knew that you could deep fry eggplant skin and have it taste so good? Awesome. With a side salad to your sandwich, you will feel healthier. However, it's not really about the healthfulness here. It's more about how happy your mouth will be in eating this all vegan, very gluten-free friendly food. Because.... after having an appetizer, drink and sandwich or salad.... the gluten-free desserts on the counter are yelling your name, not calling, y-e-l-l-i-n-g. So, I do like to respect my desserts. The cookies are huge, chunky mounds of deliciousness. Peanut chocolate anything is going to be good, and it is! Muffins - not too shabby.... quite moist. Cake/ cupcakes - oh, yes. Who doesn't like a good cupcake? Note that the staff here may not be the size of other eateries. While I was here, people kept rolling into the eatery, but there were only 2 staffers. So, be patient. Good food comes to those who wait. They were really nice, though. Also..... the ingredients, if you're wondering, are fresh, but, they are not 100% organic... really, if that were to happen, it's cool, but customers would pay far more, and would probably not feel it justified.... All in all, I was impressed, happy and over-satiated by my experience. I am planning my next trip to Burlington to revolve around brekkie here at Pingala... and maybe another lunch.

This place was delicious. I went here with my husband and a couple of friends after a 3-day backpacking trip, and it was exactly what we needed. Plenty of choices, good food, and you could tell it was all home recipes. I had their veggie burger, which was excellent and felt fresh. It also had an almost smoky flavor, subtle but good. I had a chai latte as well, which was clearly a house recipe. It was much stronger than I expected, and delicious, although maybe a little strong for my tastes. The restaurant is situated in an old mill building overlooking some of the old implements and the falls. Gorgeous. The wait staff did seem a little bit overwhelmed, they mixed up orders a couple of times, but they were very quick to correct, apologetic, etc. Overall, I will definitely be coming back next time I am in Burlington, and I would definitely recommend this cafe.

This place is great! Came here for breakfast after a yoga class at the studio next door. Staff was very friendly an prices were below $10. The sandwich was great, with decent tempeh. The salad dressing was fantastic!! Also tried some of their eggplant bacon--and it was amazing. In my opinion, much better than regular bacon!

Went here for lunch with a friend last week. I am not a Vegetarian or Vegan, but I always like to try new places. I ordered the Thai wrap. It was delicious. The outside seating has a good view of the river. Not much room inside, but still overall a great experience.

The freshest of the fresh, you are not skimping on flavor or yummy eats by springing for this friendly little vegan spot. I love Pingala because it's affordable and I've never been disappointed. I especially love the spring rolls with pickled veggies and peanut sauce, kickin' buffalo wrap, and the hash and scramble wrap. The smoothies are yummy and given in a tall pint glass. The baked goods are from 7 Sisters Bakery and out of this world good, especially the maple donuts.

A lovely cafe serving fresh plant-based food. Located ten minutes from the airport this nice little spot will satisfy diners with a variety of dietary preferences. This place was a win all-around. We split the Vermonter "Gouda" sandwich and the Broccoli Buffalo Bites. Flavors were Balanced well and everything was seasoned appropriately. Thank you for that. The staff was knowledgeable, welcoming and hospitable. The food arrived in a reasonable amount of time and we were satisfied with the portions. We will definitely be back before we leave town. Next time your in Burlington check this place out.

I want to give an all-vegan restaurant five stars just for existing -- thank you for that much. I will return to Pingala because it is vegan and good enough. The menu is fun and creative. The flavors are interesting. But the food preparation is inconsistent and portions are too small and we leave hungry. Today my husband and I each ordered the sweet potato quesadillas with added avocado for an extra $1, a $10 dish. The three small triangles of quesadilla were flavorful, but mostly bready quesadilla wrap. Nice wrap, but I'm not much for lots of starch. The vegan cheese was tasty with a tiny piquant bite. The tiny side salad and smidge of pickle were yummy. After my husband and I had cleaned our plates, we were ready for at least that much again. Dessert quality was inconsistent from our first to our second visit. On our first visit, the donuts we bought were delicious, moist and perfect texture and subtle flavor. Today they were a bit grainy and the flavors didn't balance well. I was so hungry after finishing lunch that I was glad for the chocolate peanut butter cookies that had too much salty peanut better because I needed another meal ingredient. Then I didn't feel well from eating too much dessert and not enough nutritious food. Please keep coming back to Pingala. We will. With hopes for improvement.

Eggplant bacon?! What?!? This place was delectable in every respect. Ordered the Cobb salad and green juice. Loved the take on tofu scramble instead of the bleu cheese, and eggplant crisps instead of bacon. It didn't hurt that the sun was shining, doors open, and they had a musician strumming his guitar as he walked through the restaurant. Can't wait to go back!

I was staying up in Smuggs a few weeks ago and my bf and I were searching for some good vegan food. I'm so glad I found this place! I had a sweet potato quesadilla on the first visit that was yummy. The dip that went along with it was great and I put it on the little side "salad" and cleaned the plate. I also had a molasses ginger cookie (probably the highlight). But we liked it do much we came back a second time and I got the ELT. It was even better than the quesadilla. Loved the eggplant bacon and maple aioli. Awesome sandwich! The scone we got for dessert was kind of dry, but the meal was great. The atmosphere is also very cute and pleasant and the two guys behind the counter answered all my questions about how to make my own eggplant bacon I would highly recommend this place!

Awesome food, awesome selection, and very friendly staff. The space is very cool and open. I am not a vegan or gluten free, but tons on the menu appeals to me. We usually get a plate of French toast and a slice of banana, but their menu changes constantly. This place is a regular stop for us, can't get enough!

I would give the food 5 stars, and I'm not even a fan of the vegan diet. The food is awesome; so creative, fresh, fulfilling and flavorful, just fantastic. That's why I come here at least once a week. Also the space is really lovely, and the owner and staff are very nice and accommodating. The reason I only gave 3 stars is that there is something wrong with their ability to get the order right. I'm not sure what it is, but every. single. time. It takes multiple tries for them to give me what I ordered. I know how much you have to hold in your head with restaurant work, it's not easy. But maybe write it down, or find a better system guys? Take some Omegas and B's so your brain can fire better?? I'll keep coming back because the food is so great and really, these are "first world problems." But it would be extra nice to just get what I order!

Ordered an assortment of baked goods as well as the Avocado Toast and a coffee to go. If you are gluten free you must stop by and at least try the scones! The toast was also delicious, I can't wait to come in for lunch and try the ELT everyone raves about. Really good coffee and service too! You can't go wrong. Thank you Charlie. I will be back!

My 8 yr old is gluten free. He is kind and willing to take what he gets at restaurants, but seeing his eyes open wider when he was told he can order ANYTHING on the menu was priceless. And we got a couple of "special treats" that he loved. Any restaurant that can accommodate my child is worth repeat visits (and 5 stars) for me! Ita

A tasty café, with an array of vegan sandwiches for lunch. We had an "ELT" whose secret ingredient is delicious "eggplant bacon," thin slices of deep-fried eggplant skin. Their French toast, with bananas, strawberries and a special "butter" made fm Earth Balance and crystallized ginger to go with the Vermont maple syrup, was delightful. All their baked goods, including cinnamon rolls, choc chip cookies and macaroons were fresh and full of flavor. Lots of salad/sandwich choices. Not much seating room, but they do have a few outdoor tables overlooking an old mill on the Winooski river. Great place for a casual lunch.

This place has it all, a great menu, beautiful location, and a positive vibe. The menu is diverse, which is great especially if you are a vegan and find yourself ordering the same things at the same restaurants over and over again. That being said, I always get the breakfast sandwich with crispy eggplant bacon. It's got so much flavor and textures, and is always served with a side salad, fresh and tasty!

We just found out about Pingala last week and have been looking forward to trying it. First, the location is incredible. It is in an old converted woolen mill and has a beautiful view overlooking the river. The cafe itself has a wonderful mural on one wall and is casual with an outdoor patio. I had the Vermonter, which was spot on. I love how generous they were with the greens on the sandwich, and the flavors were perfect. Apple, nut-based house made Gouda, eggplant bacon - WOW. I love to see some new flavors in the vegan food space. That said, the food here can easily please the palate of anyone, vegan or not.

Well, well well! There is now an eatery in the area that is hitting the mark when it comes to taste, gluten free options and overall experience! Our first visit was wonderful and exceeded all our expectations. We ordered the spring rolls, karma burger and sweet potato quesadilla. The food was light and so tasty. We ate on the deck with the sounds of the river in the background! Highly recommend this place. We look forward to our next Pingala meal!

I love this place. Nice to have healthy, fresh options. Love the avocado toast and if you are lucky they will have Tomgirl Juices at hand. Trying the taquitos tonight!

First, let me say that I eagerly look forward to coming back and upgrading this review after more visits to Pingala Cafe. For now though, 3 is the best that I can do and that includes one star just for the beautiful space/setting. A-OK is not bad! It's like a B-. Or a C+. I ordered the ELT. I realize that this sandwich already has a following but I have to tell my truth. While all of the individual elements were ok to good, the tomato and lettuce were totally overtaken by the bread. The bread is fine but I like to taste the L and the T in my ELT. The smoked egg plant was oily and chewy like undercooked bacon can be but I did not get the smoked flavor. Onion jam and maple dijon aioli both tasty. All together they make a fine little sandwich. I would not spend that much on that particular item again though. If this were a mainstream restaurant, I wouldn't go back because there are so many really good restaurants in Burlington. Since PingaIa is willing to serve the gluten-free vegan folks, I am very committed to their success. I am still going to work my way through the menu over the next few weeks. I am happy to pay more than usual for clean, fresh, vegan food - as long as it's really good. I also ordered the Spring Rolls. The inside was at least 90% noodle (udon?) with speck of cabbage, a slice of sauteed mushroom, a shred of carrot. They had that wonderful bouncy rice paper texture on the outside, a fresh crunch of anything from the garden would add a nice contrast. Peanut dipping sauce is good. This item would be great on a kid's menu - for kids who don't like vegetables. The space is gloriously wheelchair accessible and very inviting. The food is made to order and things move slowly. The people are beautiful and smiling. If you have time to relax and enjoy yourself, this is a beautiful place to hang out and enjoy a meal. Pingala Cafe gets an A+++ for effort and I am coming back soon to find my favorites!

Spent a three day stint in Burlington, VT which was a relaxing getaway from NYC. Pingala became our 'go to' cafe in spite of so many great options in this town. The food was amazing - not for vegan standards - but any standards. They didn't hold back on flavor. We enjoyed the hash and scramble wrap with chipotle sauce which was filled with peppers, onions, and potatoes + scrambled tofu - very zesty. And also the vanilla, cinnamon, banana pancakes with local maple syrup. The indoor space is warm and cozy - surrounded by windows and art. The outdoor space right next to the river is calm and soothing - a good place to work and think. I've eaten a lot of great food, but this place has a comfortable vibe along with great food that made us come back. There's also a yoga studio next door if the mood strikes.

Nice! Went for a late lunch. We had the Thai Peanut Pasta and Jackfruit Pulled Barbeque. Both were delicious and priced reasonably. Portions were a bit small, but we'll be back to give it another shot!

Got the grilled cheese last Saturday, thrown together, poorly made, wilted garnish, skimpy ingredients and won't be back. Lots of hype but lacking. Sorry.

Pingala is a cozy, hip spot with food that will make you become a regular and staff that will make you feel at home. Between my boyfriend and I we tried the spring rolls, pancakes and tofu rancheros. The flavor and freshness of each was truly impressive. I live in the Boston area and would love if they would open a location close by! This is a definite must-try if you live in or are visiting Burlington.

So I am not vegan or even vegetarian, but the food here is excellent no matter what kind of eater you are. I am a semi-adventurous eater and I like just asking the friendly staff what they think is most delicious and ordering their recommendations. That's probably why it's never the same twice and I like the good surprises in my take out. It's also very reasonably priced. Three cheers for Pingala!

I love this place! How sweet it is to be able to order anything on the menu that looks good...and it all looks good. The ELT with eggplant "bacon" is my fave! But the bahn mai, buffalo wrap, and everything I've had there was very good. Plus Trevor is an awesome and generous person.

Tempeh tacos were a hit - not all that pretty looking but the taste was perfect. I liked the range of options and will be coming back, BTV needed a place like this.

I've been here for both brunch and dinner now, and have nothing but compliments for this fine establishment. From the wonderful views to the friendly and attentive staff, this place is more than just a Cafe. Above all, the food is as outstanding as it is innovating. Can't wait for my next visit to Pingala Cafe.

My side salad that came with the sandwich was a tiny pile of greens. I ate it with two pinches of my fingers and for chips, I counted maybe 6. Small portions especially the sides but am going to give it another try. Interesting menu
