We thoroughly enjoyed our recent 4 day bike trip with Inn to Inn. Seth is an excellent communicator, by email, phone and in person, with his custom maps and directions. The personalized itinerary followed our requested mileage amounts and brought us to the great old inns and other sites that make rural Vermont so special. He works with a great bike shop that provided us with a perfectly outfitted tandem which more than met our expectations. In comparing this experience to the packaged bike tours which cost way more, we found that the freedom to ride on our own and at our own pace, plus the people we met traveling with Inn to Inn, were just our speed. I wish that they offered more tours in other parts of New England, and enthusiastically recommend their organization to anyone considering a walking or biking tour.

Beautiful inn, spacious, handsome room with very comfortable bed. Lovely gardens. Breakfast was excellent. Hosts Shelly and Doug were friendly and gave us very helpful tourism advice. Brandon is a sleepy little town, but is nicely located for a variety of day trips.
BEAUTIFUL location! Beautiful gardens and gazebo. Seriously, these gardens are divine. They come straight out of a fairy tale. Amazing short waterfalls and garden sculptures, too. Delicious food. Went to a wedding rehearsal dinner and wedding reception here, and the food was delicious. This location is just amazing inside and out. The owners and staff are very friendly. HIGHLY RECOMMEND this place.
Beautiful! Can't wait to come back! What a pleasant staff and amazing property. Very clean, very modern.

Cafe Provence

.....the excellent ratings I've read of Cafe Provence did not stack up with our experience. Though the aesthetics of the restaurant were appealing the food was average. The mussel appetizer was particularly salty as was my entree. An hour later I'm still thirsty. My husbands beef bourginois sp included a steak that was OK not great. The sauce was tasty. The garlic mashed potatoes were bland and starchy, not garlicky. With both meals the presentation seemed more important than the food. I would have even given it a three but our waitress came to our table twice and for a relatively expensive meal(the bill came to 76.00 plus tip) I consider this poor service. Once to bring us the appetizer and the other to bring our meal. Not once did she ask how we were doing etc. The cashier saw us done and sitting there and came over and took our empty plates and we asked for our check. We finally had contact with the waitress when she brought our card back. Maybe at one time the food and service were better. I suppose for a small town with few options in eating this is fine for people, but we paid way too much for a very mediocre meal. I'd like to think it was just a bad night.
For quality, flavor and price this restaurant is unbeatable. The only drawback was that we had to wait almost an hour to be served. As an apology we were given a dessert of our choice, on the house. The Chicken Nicoise with garlic mashed potatoes was amazing.
over 8 years my family have had some delicious meals and some serious misses. i give the service and desserts 4-5 stars for being consistently good but i can't say the same for our entrees which are either good-very good or not great-cold rubbery lobster/hair-in-the-waffle bad. i really wish we loved it here but too many inconsistent meals plus a pricey menu means it's not our go to spot.

Picked up a croissant, a veggie wrap for lunch and picked up a box of organic whole wheat penne pasta. Everything was fantastic. They also have a surprisingly affordable and extensive selection of wines. If you're in Brandon, it's a must see. Oh, their creme brûlée is absolutely killer too!
This is a little gem of a bakery in a town where such fine things didn't recently exist. I grew up just north of Brandon and until Gourmet Provence and Cafe Provence opened on the main street a handful of years ago, Brandon was becoming a bit of a cultural ghost town. Fortunately, fine food attracts tourists and foodies and the like, and now people have more of a reason to visit Brandon. Lots of little shops have opened their doors in recent years, though whether Brandon can make an economic comeback is still up in the air... The two owners of Gourmet and Cafe Provence are from the Provence region of France. The husband, a chef, is the creator of some fabulous food! Many probably thought the French owners took quite a gamble opening their shops in Brandon, which is a lovely town to look at, but didn't have much commerce or boast any great restaurants until these shops moved in. Gourmet Provence is especially known for its pastries, made-to-order cakes and elegant desserts, but the store also has a nice selection of local cheeses, patés, gourmet condiments and Vermont specialty products, as well as imported vinegars and organic pastas. For lunch the shop offers panini, sandwiches and wraps, as well as salads. I love their quiche Lorraine. The selection is always changing. Additionally, Gourmet Provence's specialty gift room has Pre de Provence Soaps, La Rochere Glassware and April Cornell linens, and the wine room has hundreds of local, domestic and imported wines. I only go to Brandon to eat at Gourmet Provence or its sister restaurant Cafe Provence. It's a beautiful little town with lovely old houses and vistas. In its hay day more than a century ago, the town must have been bustling with business and wealth (as the large and lovely old houses that line the streets would indicate). I highly recommend Brandon for a day excursion. Visit Gourmet Provence or Cafe Provence, you're sure to like one or both!
Stopped here on the way out of VT. Their croissants are still awesome. Had almond this time. They do have a $5 minimum for credit card charge that they are pretty strict about. I'm not a cash person and so it was a hassle this time as I was in a hurry. The behind the counter help / cashiers seemed seasonal and are probably minimum waged so lower your expectation on their service. Hopefully the next season they will hire better than this year ;-) Their permanents are much nicer and helpful.

been eating here, 5-6 times a year, for 6+ years. we consistently have good service and good food. our family of 5 have tried a lot of dfferent dishes but some of our favorites are the cuban sandwhich, seafood stew, handbreaded chicken fingers, potato skins and breaded fish. we've made the mistake a couple times of getting the kids pasta with alfredo sauce...it's just too rich and oily...but everything else is always well prepared and cooked well.
Just what we needed!! Sweet little small town eatery with a wide variety and awesome staff. Came here on our way through town after celebrating the Grand Re-Opening of the Woodchuck Cidery in need of a great breakfast -- and boy did we get that! HUGE portions! Cornbeef hash and eggs were great- my friend had a side pancake that was pretty much the size of his whole head. Plus Sunday morning Bloody Mary and beer specials. A couple of local brews on tap. Excellent. Sunny welcoming screened in patio with pretty Vermont trees around. My only complaint is that we won't be in town long enough to go back for dinner! **note** some people got a little huffy and left because they weren't waited on fast enough. Dude- it's a beautiful Sunday morning in little tiny Vermont town. Slow down and live a little - don't take it out on these sweet servers!
To the owner you should go on restaurant impossible cause this place could use improvement! The hash is the best!!! Should be on the menu:)

Great food and great service, in a quaint country setting. My fiancée and I LOVE Patricia's. The potato skins are to die for, portion sizes are enormous, and the bartender can really mix a perfect cocktail. TEN STARS!
We were looking for a restaurant in Brandon that was open late-night, and this place fit the bill. They have excellent portion sizes (I had the linguini with veggies) and darn good food! A good variety of choices on the menu. A little on the dark side, lighting and decoration-wise, but somehow also a little cozy-feeling. Definitely a place that locals frequent, as the staff seemed on a first-name basis with many of the customers. Friendly staff!
Needed food fast while driving through Vermont and found this place open at 8:30pm on a Friday. Looked like it was full of locals. Friendly waitresses. Place cleared fast. Large kiddie menu of various price range. This place offers lighter meals without soup/salad so one of us had the chicken parm dinner with spaghetti, but chicken is breaded lightly on one side only. Two of us wanted a special but it was sold out so we got combo chicken and eggplant parm dinners. Eggplant was ok, again chicken only breaded on one side, sauce ok. Clam chowder was homemade and adequate. Bread served after crackers with butter and cheese spread, which was a nice touch. Prices average but portions large. Too full to try dessert. cka

Had fresh made sandwiches that were good quality . We are vegetarians - there was only one item out of about 20 on the chalk boards, and we got it. A hummus wrap with fresh veggies. Very good, nothing unique. After we sat down we noticed a small handwritten signs that listed a couple salads - missed that entirely. Other than that, you build your own and there are plenty of fresh ingredients. I would recommend that they make up about 3 more unique veggie combination sandwiches and list them in the premade chalkboards for ease of ordering. No complaints - you get used to scant choices as a veghead. Friendly and a nice lunch on a Sunday.
How does a place like this stay open. It advertises to have chili and chowder but had neither the day we arrived at 1 pm. Plus, poor quality food. On the plus side, the staff seems nice.
An apparent glutton for punishment... I stopped on my commute home for another sandwich. The sandwich builder was a much nicer person than the last one I got, I will say that. However, the chicken salad wrap was so salty...I couldn't even eat it. I did ask her to salt it but I think she dumped the shaker on it. And I'm a person who loves salt. :( It was like throwing $7.50 out the car window. Guess I'm done trying to get good food there.
