Daniel the owner provides a warm welcome. Our room was clean and comfortable with a small fireplace. Breakfast was delicious and for the price we would definitely return to the Alexandra Inn. We needed somewhere to stay at the last minute and this place was fantastic. We will be recommending this place to others.

Yes, I am the Dutchess of a tiny Vermont B&B. That was on purpose. I had my buddy remind me every night we came home to our adorable double twin beds which were the most comfortable I've ever slept on. I LOVE bed and breakfasts. My honeymoon options would be 1) tahiti and 2) a bed and breakfast tour of new england. i just love them that much! booking was a snap, as all things are online. they were courteous and very quick with fixing my idiotic mistake of booking the wrong nights (yup, not the brightest bulb). they were graciously accommodating when we said we were going to arrive late that night--left the key out for us. the next day, they gave us a belated tour of our room with many unnecessary apologies--mostly we were too dumb to figure out the pilot light was NOT the same thing as an actual fire in a fireplace. the food--i think this is a b&b that was taken over by new owners who knew a lot about cooking and maybe a little less about b&b-ing. the food was phenomenal. danny, the chef, is in love with nyc cuisine and strives to eat there a few times a year and comes back and uses those new things he learned in his breakfasts every morning. top notch stuff, his cooking. really gourmet and innovative. his female partner was a little less helpful. also not the brightest bulb. forgot to ask for the room key back when we were checking out, couldn't figure out how to turn on the computer, didn't have really great pointers about where to go to check out the foilage (which was the only reason we were in vermont in the first place). danny more than made up for all of this, but just so you know, if you have any local questions to ask, ask him, not her. all in all, i would stay here again. it's right on the corner of three different states so you can go chase foliage to your hearts content!

This place was amazing. The rooms are big with king-sized beds, fire places, and couches. There are two buildlings. The building in which we stayed is more modern-hotel-like (which I prefer) instead of classic B&B country decor. The furniture, linens, etc. were brand new and the beds were wildly comfortable. We had a bath with jacuzzi jets that was designed for one person. Other rooms had large 2-person jacuzzis. But, the accommodations are not the reason to stay here. The owner, Daniel, and his wife are delightful, wonderful people. They won't bother you if you want a private meal, but they will chat if you want to hear about the Inn or the area, etc. They are great. Also, last but most certainly not least, the food at the Inn is exquisite. Daniel learned to cook as an apprentice, but he is largely self-taught. Well, he puts culinary-schooled chefs to shame. I have dined in the best restaurants and Daniel's food was equal in quality and, perhaps, more creative. The food was a magnificent surprise. These hard-working owners made our weekend getaway a memorable trip. I recommend Alexandra B&B wholeheartedly!

We just returned from a wonderful weekend at the Alexandra Inn and I could not wait to get home to write a glowing review! This historic inn is just lovely. We checked in late (about 9pm), so there was no one to greet us, but an envelope with our keys was waiting for us when we arrived. Our room was very large, with a huge four poster bed and a separate sitting area with a small television. After a long car trip, we were tired, so we went right to bed, which was firm for my taste but still quite comfortable. The next morning we woke up and headed out to the main dining area where other guests were already eating. The owner, Daniel, immediately introduced himself, shook our hands and showed us to a table in a separate dining area. He told us to help ourselves to the continental items that were available on a table (granola, croissants, fruit salad w/ yogurt, and various beverages) while he whipped up an amazing breakfast of pumpkin pancakes with a side of berries and sausage. I am not exaggerating when I say that these pancakes were some of the best I've ever had! Breakfast on the second morning was even better - a spanish omelet with sausage in a sundried tomato compote. My mouth still waters! Not only is Daniel quite the accomplished chef, but he was unimaginably kind, attentive, and hospitable. He brought us an area map and chatted with us about what our plans were for the day. We already had our day mapped out, but we appreciated his willingness to point us in the right direction based on our interests. In response to some reviews on TripAdvisor that I read: I will concede that the walls are thin, and you can hear people walking around. Also, yes, the rooms are "dated" - but that's part of the appeal. For me, both of these things are pretty much to be expected in a building from the 1800s. If you want sound-proofed walls and modern stylings, stay at a Hampton. We stayed here for the charm and got just that - from the building itself as well as from Daniel! We are beyond excited to stay again, and will, as soon as possible!

LIARS AND THIEVES The staff stole a wedding ring from our locked room. The manager promised to replace it while we were there--even promised in writing--but his word wasn't worth the paper it was printed on. He didn't live up to his promise. Instead, he simply began ignoring us entirely, and even returned every attempt the State of Vermont made to contact him. Avoid at all costs!

The Alexandra Inn provided the perfect accommodation for our trip to Bennington. Our room was spacious, clean, and well-priced for this type of inn. The bed was ridiculously comfortable, and the sitting area was great for relaxing in the room for an afternoon in after snowshoeing all morning. Speaking of snowshoeing, Daniel was really helpful in guiding us to the right places to go -- for a late dinner after we rolled in at about 9, and yes, for finding a nearby place to go snowshoeing (yeah, my boyfriend was thrilled when I dragged him on *that* uphill trek). Daniel is great. We didn't meet his wife, but he couldn't have been friendlier or more helpful. The Alexandra Inn is the place to go if you want to be close to downtown Bennington and Rt. 7 and have a clean, comfortable room with little touches of luxury (fireplace, Turkish bath towels, sitting area) without shelling out the big bucks for a place like the Reluctant Panther.
