My family and I have been going to Chauncey's for years now, and we're never disappointed. The food is top-notch, portions are healthy, and everything always tastes fresh. Prices range from, more than reasonable to dirt cheap. The fried swiss sticks are incredible, and I've never seen them anywhere else. We always vow to try a new place the next time we're in the area. However, we somehow always wind up at Chauncey's.

0 stars. I have never written a bad review on Yelp since I always find something nice to say ,but I am in shock that anyone of you would say this place has decent food. I will eat at McDonald's rather then eat here again. I should say try to eat here. Yes its cute.. but the food was not edible. Fries were soft and oily, the burger was ordered med rare and came well done plus the meat was tasteless and even the pickle was not right. I will never step foot in this place again. If you want a burger travel the extra 5 miles and get one in Manchester.

On our way back to CT and happened upon this place. The breakfast was excellent. All four in our party agreed that the eggs florentine and special omelets were delicious. The waitstaff and hostess were so pleasant and welcoming we will surely return !

Had Breakfast here with a friend back in December 2014. Omelette, home fries and coffee. Service was prompt and courteous, food was great and price was fair.

Typical small family owned restaurant of Vermont. Offers mainly burgers and sandwiches, but large variety of choice. Waiters and owners are awesome and food was great. A big plus for the homemade desserts that were amazing!!

On a road trip heading back to NYC this adorable restaurant fulfilled all my cozy winter Vermont dreams. We came in on a blustery February morning and were thrilled to find a homey atmosphere and seating near the fireplace. The breakfast menu offered every option I could have wanted - french toast, pancakes, omelets, etc. so I was happy to order the incredibly affordable ($6.95) Vermont Combo - two pancakes, two eggs, homefries, and bacon. With an added side of real Vermont Maple syrup I had everything I could possibly need. I definitely hope to be back!

Wouldn't bother with this one, more selection in Manchester.

We had breakfast here and it was very good! I had the cinnamon French toast and eggs and bacon. My husband had triple berry pancakes and liked them. Would definitely return for breakfast!

The wife and I found this eating establishment while traveling to our final destination and were we glad of it. In fact, we ate lunch here on Sunday afternoon, and went back for breakfast on Monday morning. At lunch we started out with a bowl of butternut squash soup, and it was great! Then we each got a specialty burger and fries and we both thought they were as good as a burger gets. We were to full to try one of their many deserts, but they sure looked good. For breakfast we each got the pancakes with maple syrup, eggs, bacon and home fries. They were great and including drinks was less then $19! So, the food gets a 5, the service gets a 5, the facility gets a 5, and the value gets a 5+. That comes out to a very solid 5 rating for our experience at Chancey's! By the way, we tried to go back for Supper on the Monday evening and found they were only open on Friday, Saturday and Sunday evenings. Shucks, maybe next time!

Had breakfast here today I had hash and eggs. It was fresh made and very good. It was served with home fried potatoes and eggs. Would eat here again. Reasonably priced. Simple breakfast.

Arrived at 1:15 and waited 15 minutes to be seated! Then promptly ignored for quite a while after that! It is now 3:15 and we have finally paid and are leaving. Bye the way there were only 4 tables at the most to occupied. It's sad that the service is so darn bad because the good is quite good. Typical burger food.

Oh good lord, I had their Friday special Fried Fish Cod, I have to say it was soooo delicious and highly recommend this place for its desert too, the waitress we had Debbie is a delight and the place is so cozy.

We were up in Bennington again this weekend visiting and choose Chaunceys' again for dinner with the my niece and her family. Given the new dietary restrictions I perused the menu on line at restaurant.com and noted that they listed Scrod Florentine so I called and asked if they would be able to do a simple baked scrod w/lemon. Receiving an affirmative answer pretty much selected the place for me, that along with the positive previous experience. We were not disappointed! We started off with the Soup of the Day which was a Chicken Veggie. Quite good and hardly any salt so I was able to have a cup. Excellent. The wife ordered the Cheese Ravioli with Sun-dried Tomato and Spinach again and again was quite happy with it. My niece ordered the the Honey Roasted Chicken and seem quite happy with it as well and her hubby had the Vermont Burger which he seemed to thoroughly enjoy. And my broiled scrod was outstanding! Perfectly cooked. Served with broccoli and seasoned red potato halves. Given the fact that the total tab which also included 2 glasses of wine, a beer and and the soup and salad that my grandniece had was under $75 the place can't be beat. Chauncey's is definitely on my must do list when in VT.

This is a solid restaurant. Should you come upon what they call "pot roast" it is really quite wonderful. Their potato side is stellar.

horrible!!! we spent $60.00 for bland, flavorless food that had absolutely no seasoning whatsoever!!!! i thought i had ordered the "diabetic" platter by accident!! the steak was full of gristle and overcooked, the mashed potatoes were just that....mashed! no milk, butter....nothing!! waste of time and money!!!!!

This is one of the best restaurants around. The pot roast is incredible. Soups are always fresh and hearty. I've never had a less than great meal. I stop here often.

Food was fresh and like from a real chef. Not like a short order cook. Very reasonably priced. 4 stars because we had to wait so long for our food after we ordered.
