The Pizza Shop is a local staple to York County!! It's locally owned and operated. It's a place where the employees know you (and your order) and often times as soon as they see you come in they will meet you at your table with your drink before you even sit down I have never had a bad meal there. It's great prices and even better food! Not only are their pizzas HAND tossed and cooked to order they are delicious! Their subs are also extremely tasty as well as their salads! Make sure to try some freaky bread too! Thank for the wonderful meals and service every time we come to eat! Oh! I also have 2 young children but my oldest is 2.5 and either eats grilled cheese or pizza and they cut it for him!!!

I'm not sure how this place has four and a half stars. It's not bad, but for all the people saying that it's just as good as New York pizza need to get a hold of yourself. Employees were very nice, but the Carpet and the dining area are dated and makes me think the kitchen is also disgusting. Torn carpet and torn leather seats show a lack of pride. Pizza was just OK fountain soda was watered down, which is a pet peeve of mine.

Amazing isn't a big enough word. SOOOOOOO GOOD! We're from Jersey and we couldn't stand living in Virginia because there was no good food down here, but this place totally changes that. I got a calzone that was better than any I've had up north - and i mean that - and my fiancé got a buffalo chicken pizza that broke his heart, because he couldn't decide whether to eat the crust or focus his attention on eating more of the chicken. I cannot stress enough how good the food was. The service was great because our waitress was really, genuinely proud of the place. She told us about the history, which is that it has been around for 33 years and is on its 3rd owner, but each time it gets passed down to someone who has come up through the ranks there, from dishwasher to delivery to cook, and you can really tell that there is actually love in the food. That's one thing I HATE about other pizza places - actually ALL other pizza places - in this area, is that you can tell they're only in business to make a living, and not in it to enhance lives the way real food is supposed to do and the way the food at The Pizza Shop does. Also, they display all different types of local art, from photography to oil paintings, on the walls, apparently for artists who can't find other venues to display their work. All in all just a fantastic experience and we will definitely make this a weekly trip. The only thing I'd love to see (but honestly, don't really care about because the pizza is just so out of this world) would be some Boar's Head cold cuts. That brand is from the Northeast though, so it might not even be available down here, and, like I said, the pizza here is something I would actually drive from other states to try. It is that good.

Greaaaaaaat pizza! I can't believe I've never been here before but will be changing that and coming back! Slices are huge so it's very filling. I got the $6.99 two slice and large drink lunch special and it was definitely worth it.

Surprised at the other review that mentions crust issues, because that's why I get my pizza here. I'm guessing maybe they caught it on a bad day? I hate the floppy crust issue as well, and have never had that problem here; there's always just the right amount of char. Then again, I'm all about a plain cheese pie, so maybe number of toppings plays into it as well. This is bare-bones, mom & pop pizza. No frills, nothing fancy, just plain good food. 20% off for military on Mondays! Also check out their website, as they have daily specials.

While visiting my parents in town, my husband wanted to go somewhere that had pitchers and good food. I had to take him here to try it! He had pizza from there as take out but had never had the full experience. This place has been the same since I moved here 17 years ago. Pitchers are a bit pricey but good Lord the food is still as amazing, fresh, and delicious as I remembered. Same owner and a lot of the same wait staff work here which is wonderful (they were shocked I was all grown up LOL). Their pizza is better than any other pizza joint I've ever eaten at. Always freshly made to order and they really load up the toppings! If you want to try something different get their philly cheesteak! My husband and I both got one and he was absolutely blown away. Delicious grilled chopped steak, sauted mushrooms and onion, they then top it with cheese and put it in the pizza oven to get all crusty and have the cheese melt. We of course finished with Cinamon Willies (not on the menu but locals in the know order them). Other things to try are their cheesy bread or new buffalo dip (which my mom loves!).

No frills laid back pizza joint with a small town feel and friendly service. After seeing that they had received the "Best Small Business Award" from the York County Chamber of Commerce and hearing that they had been around for quite a long time, I have had this place in the back of my mind for a while. I rarely eat out at lunch, so when I ran out of bread at home and didn't pack anything, I decided to finally stop in today. A little before noon, there were only a few tables in a pretty large, open dining room with a small(ish) bar. I felt like I had stepped back in time a couple of decades, which was actually kind of refreshing. The owner is apparently into racing cars, as there are race car pictures scattered throughout. There were two TV's- one at the bar and one in the back of the restaurant, both playing ESPN. Soon after I seated myself, I was asked by the one server working if I'd like the special of the day, so I said "yes" and went with a slice of pepperoni and a slice of ground beef. The special, which is offered Mon/Wed/Fri, is two slices and a soda for $5.50. Pretty good deal. I admit that I've had better pizza, but the slices were big and freshly baked. If you like a ton of meat on your slice, than this is a good place for you. I had to take off a good bit of the ground beef as there was more of it than bread. I also added a small garden salad that was simple, but had fresh ingredients. Aside from saving money, I don't eat out often for lunch because I don't have a ton of time. This place is both cheap and fast. I was in and out in 20 minutes- I had time to spare. They had a long list of subs that were priced really low, so the next time I stop by I'll give one a try.

The pizza here is very good. I am from Chicago and have been disappointed with the pizza in this area but not any more. We ordered the traditional and it was really good.

Love this place. It is an easy to miss little place owned by a family from what I can tell near a Food Lion. At any rate, their pizza is really good and their customer service even better. While I may not be a big fan of the bread (was it crazy bread?) The rest of the appetizers I've tried have been pretty good. Honestly love the personal attention and the pricing/specials are good too.

wow, not a single review for this place yet. I'm kind of surprised. If anything rings true in the Hampton Roads area of Virginia, is that the mom & pop pizza shops are numerous, and they're all better than the corporate chains. Obviously that can be said about most anywhere else. Just as with "anywhere else U.S.A.", most are average at best, and finding a truly great place takes a lot of time, searching, and pizza consumption. Lucky for me, I found "The Pizza Shop" in Yorktown. Is it the best the area has to offer? No, but they do serve up a truly tasty pizza at an affordable price. Yes, since it's affordable, the pepperoni isn't hand sliced, and the cheese isn't made on site or even down the street. It's still tasty never-the-less. ...but wait, they do claim to make their own sausage in house, and I'll have to say that I think it's friggin' jammin'!! Crumbled on their pizza, or in their pizza pockets, it's eye-rollin' tasty. If I did have one complaint, it's their crust. don't get me wrong, they make a tasty crust. The problem is tha it fails the sag test. It's a well done New York style pizza crust, but it needs a little more time in the oven. I've had their pizza several times, and this seems to be pretty consistent. The toppings are cooked perfect, so it may take some tweaking by those who watch over it during the cooking process. I have to say that The Pizza Shop has a very tasty pie, but it can benefit from a little more char on the bottom crust. Still, it's a great place to get some pie.
