Nothing wrong with the grub or hospitality. Nothing great about the grub either Monica and I were in the need for a bite to eat while getting some groceries before cooking a big dinner. I spotted Poppy's Top Dog. Monica and I went in and ordered some grub. We ordered burgers and I got a dog with the burger and a french fries. First off the food looked cool. Then I noticed the fries were the beer battered fries. I like fries once in a while but I need taters that look and taste like taters - these - taste like fried batter. The burger I ordered with a "Little mayo" It came drenched in mayo. The hamburger was way too small for the roll - or the roll was way to big for the burger. The burger had no flavor. The dog I got was way smaller than the bun - I hate that! I want to see the end of my dog. Monica agreed with all my prior statements and she said she would not return. I feel the same. The people were cool. They just didn't get me anything I want again.

Kids and I stopped by to try this place out. It's in the Farm Fresh shopping center in N Suffolk off 17. It's simple....lunch counter and some tables. It was busy, almost full. They offer breakfast and lunch with hot dogs the lunch focus. We got some lunch combos with chili and cheese. Our hot dogs were good, the chili was very flavorful, and kids agreed we would all come back. Service was super friendly. One guy seemed to know a lot of the patrons. We look forward to coming back to try breakfast. We like supporting the smaller local places.

I personally love smaller businesses, and this is one that i've been to multiple times. The first time me and my boyfriend just signed our new apartment lease and we were starving, this area is new to us so we just drove around and found this little spot. Every time we go in the waitress is always super nice and very welcoming. My boyfriend loves to get their philly cheesesteak and i get the hamburger. One time i wasn't in the mood for a burger, so they had a special for soup and gilled cheese, i loved that home cooked feeling.

Our second visit left me somewhat disappointed. The service is still excellent. And I hate to leave a "bad" review for a local business, but i was bummed to discover that everything is frozen. I had a burger this time instead of a hot dog. It was okay--for a frozen burger. The onion rings and fries are all frozen. I still enjoy the sweet potato fries but thought they were made in shop. I much prefer when local businesses make food from scratch. If you'd like a good hot dog or brat, then I still recommend Poppy's.

I have eaten here several times and highly recommend them. They have a good menu, but I come here for hot dogs and onion rings. The food is good and the service excellent. They also serve breakfast.

Order the dogs and chili and you will be fine. Chili is actually very good and homemade. All the other stuff we've tried this year we did not like. If you want a good footlong loaded with good condiments eat here.

BAD!!! TV load...set to Jerry Springer!!! Hot dogs were fair, been on grill for a while. Chilli was like Hormel chili no beans that had been cooked for 3 days ( dry, dry,dry! $8.00+ for two dogs, fries, and a drink. Not worth it!!!! Will not go back even if I had a coupon for free food.
