Great menu with lots of choices and price ranges. Something for everybody and the servers were great!

This place is outstanding. If you are driving through on 81, skip the chains and go here. I loved the food, service, and atmosphere. Normally, I would write a longer review, but I don't know what else to say that hasn't been said in other positive Yelp reviews. Get a few cookies to go if you are too full for dessert.

Stopped here on the way from FL to PA. Easy on/off I-81. The Cajun meatloaf was not to my liking, but if you like lots of onions and green peppers, then you'll most likely love it. The green beans and mashed potatoes were excellent. My gf enjoyed her fish tacos. The servers and the owner were super nice and quite helpful. It was very busy at noon on a Tuesday--I took that as a good sign.

Hit and miss. Food is usually good but on pricey side for what you get. Service is often weak. We once stood at the door for 10 minutes and received no welcome or acknowledgement. We left and went to another restaurant.

Excellent family restaurant, a few min. off of 81. Good food, great desserts and service!

Stopped for dessert last night and had the carrot cake. I was surprised and really disappointed. I had heard good things in the past about their desserts but it wasn't apparent on this visit. The cake was served very cold and was close to flavorless. I'm used to either a butter cream or cream cheese type icing on carrot cake. There was no hint of the sweetness or richness from butter, no bit of vanilla, really nothing other than just sort of cold white flavorless Crisco maybe? The cake tasted like it had either been in the freezer or the refrigerator too long. Again not even a hint of the spice and richness you associate with good carrot cake. The rest of the party tried the peanut butter chocolate brownies and the butterscotch blondie. They were better than the carrot cake, served slightly warmed and with some decent flavor but certainly didn't knock anyone over with the flavor. On a positive note the server was very pleasant and apologized for the fact that they were out of certain things and let us know before we ordered.

Fried oyster appetizer was yummy. Dinner rolls are nothing short of amazing! I had the best shrimp and grits ever! Shrimp cooked perfectly, grits cooked to perfection AND fried! And the gravy was delicious and just spicy enough to make it deliciously irresistible!

This is well prepared, tasty food. Great staff--friendly and helpful. Try the in house rye bread. Coconut cake was moist and delicious; consider myself an expert in cake dept. The place was filled with locals, I take this to be a good sign. The hardest part was deciding between coconut, carrot and chocolate cake- guess I'll have to return and give each a try.

This place is nothing short of awesome. I stop in when I am in the Roanoke area and have never been disappointed with meals or service. I have had steaks, Seafood, and burgers here and everything I have tried was expertly crafted.

Great veggie selections. salad with homemade ginger sesame dressing. Main course of black beans, rice, with chopped green onions, sour cream, and salsa. As great as the food is the service is better. He noticed my hand was recently bruised, and he brought me an ice pack. Can't wait to return.

I was in town recently on business and used the yelp app to find a place close to my hotel to grab some dinner. I got take-out and returned to the hotel. I ordered an open-faced roast beef sandwich (which was on the lunch menu but was allowed to order for dinner) and also got 2 of their very delicious brownies for dessert. The food was very good and the sweets at this establishment cannot be beat! I would definitley recommend this eatery....

This is a small local restaurant with a huge sign posted to the door encouraging people to review them on Tripadvisor. The service is fairly good and the food is decent. I just had the giant nachos with chicken and white beans... I can't remember its exact name though. It was scrumptious and the chicken was very good inside. Although it's listed as an appetizer, it was enough as a lunch. I ended things with a coconut cake, it was good except for the dryness factor. I think I may have gotten a piece that was a few days away from going dumpster diving! This place is definitely better than the likes of Applebee's or Ruby Tuesday for lunch, but falls a little short when it comes to some of the other local excellent restaurants I have experienced.

I have been eating at Hollywoods since they opened about 9 or 10 years ago. I can honestly say I've never had a bad meal here! I travel to Roanoke frequently and they make me feel at home when I go there. The manager/owner is usually there and he makes a point to walk around the restaurant to make sure his guests feel welcome. He also has a manager named Robin that is an excellent manager and she is so personable. The wait staff is outstanding and many of them have been there for years, not much turnover. I've had about everything on the menu but they still change it up with daily specials and chef creations. Here's a tip for you: try their baby back ribs, you will not be disappointed. Or try their oysters, shrimp or the Cajun meatloaf. Prices are reasonable and they also have great desserts!

This is a small local restaurant offering good, solid food for veggie and meat lovers. That said, some of the earlier reviews of this place seem to suggest it's veggie-only; not so. It offers a variety of dishes on the menu, reasonably priced, and we'd recommend a visit here if you're in the neighborhood (it's just a short distance off I-95 at exit 146). Tasty appetizers include the fried Chesapeake Bay oysters, on the small side and lightly breaded, the bean and chicken chili (very hearty, just a shade bland) and excellent Cuban black bean patties with cilantro sauce, salsa and sour cream (nicely flavored). We ordered the Ahi tuna but declined the potatoes. Our server brought us some stir-fry veggies instead; the green beans (long-cooked Southern style) and grilled yellow squash and zucchini were delicious. The menu does indeed offer variety. There's also a bakery where you can get pastries and bread; we didn't do that, but others in the restaurant spoke highly of both. The service was friendly and quick; our waitress barely got around to clearing off our dirty dishes, however. The restaurant seems to have a recognized local clientele -- a number of people who arrived were greeted by name or even hugged by the very pleasant woman we assume is the owner or manager (she also spoke to and welcomed us). A nice place, darn it, and we enjoyed ourselves here.

Great place. The rice and beans were great. Good menu selection. Service was great. Surprising crowded for an early dinner on a Thursday night. Reasonable prices. Good food quantities.

I hadn't eaten at Hollywood's in quite some time and it seems like the food has gone down in quality significantly since I was last here. I started with a salad which was a pile of basic lettuce with minuscule bits of tomato, some red onions and dressing that was not likely made on site. It was pretty uninspired. Then I had oysters which came with a side of coleslaw and a choice of potato, so I chose mashed. The oysters didn't resemble or taste like something from the sea. They were more like something from a frozen box ordered from a large food company. There may have been an oyster-like thing inside this very heavy formulaic fast food type breading somewhere but I'm not really sure. The coleslaw was bland and heavy on the mayonnaise and the mashed potatoes were gluey and unappetizing. The presentation of the food on the plate was not appealing at all. The hostess was friendly but seated us (two adults, no children) next to a table of screaming babies who were throwing food all over the floor. Perhaps this was the kid's commentary on the quality of the food. The loud, messy family did leave soon after our arrival but I was surprised that people with young ones like this would be eating out at 7:30 instead of an earlier hour more appropriate for family dining. If you have a loud messy family you might like this place but it's not good for couples who go out looking for a pleasant evening. We felt really rushed and it seemed like our server was trying unusually hard to get us out quickly. I like to support locally owned restaurants but it's fairly disappointing when I get the feeling that they don't prepare their food on site. I may as well be eating at at some chain at the mall.

I love Southern Hospitality and this wonderful restaurant has that and good creative food at very reasonable prices. We stopped by while traveling south. I had read excellent reviews and agree it is a place for travelers and locals. My recommendation the ribs, cannot match that sauce! The oysters are fantastic too. Great wines at reasonable prices. I would give 4 1/2 stars but the app. would not let me.

Haven't been to Hollywood's since college, but it was great! We came for lunch, and thankfully managed to beat the crowd by 15 minutes. Great service, yummy food. We'll definitely be back!

It was a great meal. The server was very attentive and friendly. I ordered the Turkey Burger and it was one on the best I ever have had before. I highly recommend this resturant.

Fantastic! I had the burger with the balsamic onions. The cocoanut cake was absolutely devine!

I was staying at a local hotel on a business trip. Fortunate for me, I missed my party for diner. I went to yelp to see what was close by and I saw the reviews for Hollywood's and I thought I would give it a try. In full disclosure, I scarfed down the food so fast, I cannot even remember what I ordered that first night. I do remember, it was delicious enough to make me want to go back the next night and order what the man had beside me. So, the very next day I ordered the Catfish Matrimony. It was simply too delicious for words. I not going to mention how many additional times I went back to this restaurant to this trip but, I will say it is definitely worth a stop in. I know I will be back anytime I come close to the area.

  • Rebecca B.

Service was good. Food was average. Green beans were very soggy and over cooked, mashed potatoes and sweet potato fries good, as well as the burger and chicken breast with honey bbq. All tasty but average quality.

Completely un-impressive. Ordinary cafe fare on low end of normal scale. There must be a better place in area.

My colleague and I have a tradition of walking to Hollywood's from Hollins before the literary readings on Thursday night. It's pretty standard, but with a twist. The menu is huge, especially their sandwiches and salads. There is a constantly rotating list of specials but I almost always end up ordering the same four or five dishes every time. My favorite is the Hollins Cobb sandwich. Considering that many of the options on that side of town are less-than-homemade I appreciate what Hollywood's is doing.

Went to Hollywood's last night with my wife and son. I thought the prices were a bit high, so I decided to have their half-pound burger. It was good, but the bun was really small...I laughed that they had put a half-pound burger on a White Castle bun. It was really a pain to eat and pretty messy. The wife said her ribs were good, but my son said his chicken was pretty blah. I live on the south side of town, so based on the quality of the food, I doubt very much if I'll ever go back.

If you want good home style American food, this is a great place if you happen to get stuck here traveling for work. As I was here for a week for work, this took out of the dreaded where to eat in a small town question. We ate here for lunch and dinner. The small town feeling was displayed by the owner walking around. He noticed us eating twice in the same day and thanked us for our business. I ate the catfish fillet for lunch. It was crisp and fried to a nice golden brown. It was a nice size fillet. For dinner I had the filet Mignon and their famous crab cake. The filet was like butter as it melted in my mouth. It was cooked just right as requested. I guess I am not a connoisseur of crab cake because I thought it was okay. The next day for lunch, I had their buffalo chicken sandwich. A huge piece of chicken breast meat covered in a spicy batter and deep fried. Tasted way better than a fast food spicy chicken sandwich. And the colesaw is crunchy fresh. If we had found this place earlier, we might have eaten more meals here.

Okay. Hollywood's is crazy. There is way too long a wait on weekends and busy nights for this level of food. I'm serious, Roanoke, what is with people willing to wait 45 minutes for this stuff? That said, it's good food. The sandwiches are delicious, with fresh veggies and cheeses (I assume the meat is fresh, too, but I don't eat meat so I can't tell you) and good bread. They always have tea selections, both iced and hot, which makes me extra happy. The sides are tasty, too. It's relatively reasonably priced, though not cheap. They give student discounts certain nights of the week. And it's practically on my college campus. But what is really amazing about Hollywood's is the desserts. The carrot cake, I believe, will never be matched and I will live my life wandering aimlessly in search of a replacement for that delicious treat. The cake is moist without being gummy, well spiced, but not filled with an excess of extras like nuts and raisins. The frosting, I'm guessing, is a blend of cream cheese and buttercream because it is sweeter and milder than cream cheese, but not overly sweet like American buttercream, with the tartness of cream cheese. It's pretty much fabulous. There are tons of other great desserts, too, but I couldn't list them all so I'll leave off here.

Excellent food. Excellent service. I ordered a wine I didn't like (my fault). The server took it off my ticket even though I didn't ask her to do so.

A co-worker and I had lunch here yesterday. She had mentioned the dessert case and from that I can see why people come here. There's a huge variety. They also sell fresh baked bread. I had the tuna melt on rye. The tuna had real bits of red onion in it. I ordered the green beans as a side and they were cooked "southern style" which is with bacon. They were mediocre at best. Totally overcooked to the point of being mushy. Or perhaps they were (gasp!) canned and reheated. My compadre had the sweet potato fries and they were very good. There's no breakfast foods here and that's a disappointment, however if you had a hankering for some sweet breakfast, continental style, there's always the dessert case. One would imagine that a place called Hollywood would have something with avocado in it on the menu. I don't recall seeing any. Really glad there was no inner decor that referenced this place in California because having come from there, I'm not looking for that when I leave town. I really enjoyed how the wine lists on every table highlighted a local artist's portraits of Appalachian people - it was like taking a little trip into another place. And for a visitor to Star City, that was a bonus to me. Food is OK, a much better dining experience than all the horrible chain restaurants that blight this little town. Decor was interesting. Dessert case was noteworthy but also I was disappointed to learn that they didn't make any of the desserts on site but purchased from a bakery downtown. They should revel that because now I can't recall the name of it and would like to have made a stop there.

I took the Yelpers advice and stopped by on the way down I-81. Well worth it. Food was really good, and the sandwich was almost gourmet-like. Desserts looked intimidating :)

  • Lee R.

Another Hampton recommendation. They told me to go here for the desserts and I am glad that I did. I wasn't too sure from the outside, but the large number of cars told me that it was popular. I can't say enough about the staff. I sat at the bar since I was by my lonesome and ordered a salad and a burger. Both were great, but the staff really impressed me. I don't think that a single person passed by me without saying something and since I was right by the beverage station, I think I saw all of the wait staff several times. Even the dishwasher came out to grab a drink and asked me how it was going. I got a slice of "Better than Sex" chocolate cake to go for dessert. It looks great, but I can't eat it until I spend some quality time on the treadmill. Thanks Hollywood for a fun evening.

Six awesome meals, reasonably priced, served smoothly and flawlessly. What's not to like? The shrimp artichoke scampi was the winner, followed closely by the coconut shrimp, crab cakes, and rack of ribs. Try the tomato dill salad dressing. Uniquely scrumptious. The wine list is an excellent selection, also reasonably priced.

SOUTHERN COOKING AT IT'S BEST! I am back for their catfish dish. I dream about that dish as I drive down along interstate 81. Tried out their fried oyster this time. It was tender, fresh and perfect with their perfectly seasoned cocktail sauce. Wish this place was closer to VT. You should open another location near the campus. Blacksburg need a great place like this one.

portabella mushrooms had choice of bread, italian bread came out toasted white drowned in butter and soggy. no veggies, jus cheese and shrooms. salad resemblance was substitute for side charged $1 extra but only a few leaves... burger with A partial piece of lettuce. disappointing.

  • Nichole H.

Stopped in here for dinner tonight. I had the White Bean Chicken Chili with a side salad. My coworkers had the Coco Loco Chicken salad and the Sausage, Shrimp and Grits. Everything was delicious. The bread was warm and perfectly baked. The chili was super filling and decently seasoned. The bakery case is unbelievable. Cakes, pie, brownies and bars. I couldn't decide between the lemon bar and the cream cheese brownie. I went with the lemon bar. It was very tart and perfectly baked. Highly recommended. I can't wait to try more!

I went here all throughout college, back when it was called Wildflour (which it will always be to me). Their desserts are to die for and they have a great selection of vegetarian options for those of us who don't eat meat with feet. Nowadays, their menu has expanded to appease every palate, something that is a little harder to find in this area of Roanoke/Troutville/Hollins, VA. Totally worth the stop. Take exit 146 if you're heading up or down I-81!

    (5)
  • Dave S.

I have to give two stars because I ate here the day after eating at Wildflour for the first time. Otherwise it'd be three - but imagine my surprise when I saw that the menu was nearly identical in many respects (right down to the names of some items) - even the stuff in the dessert cases are similar. HOWEVER, the food here is way below the standard at Wildflour. Service was nowhere near as friendly or competent, either. I asked our server about it and she said there was some sort of falling-out and basically someone stole all of someone else's recipes and started their own place. I can't say which came first - but Wildflour is way way better. Hence, two stars, because after eating here I had to acknowledge that it was alright, but I ended up literally saying, "Meh. I've experienced better." Oh, and our wait time was RIDICOULOUS at 1:00 on a Wednesday. We waited a solid 40 minutes to seat a party of five. Too many blue-haired ninnies sitting around chatting instead of paying their damn bill.

I've only eaten here twice, but both times the salads were absolutely delicious and fresh.... Never tried anything else because I can't seem to get beyond that salad! Great service.

Excellent food. The white chicken chili was great. Best blonde brownie ever. Service was a bit slow, but it appeared the waitress had a million tables.

I had lunch there a few days ago. I had the chicken pot pie and a house salad, The Pot pie had the overwhelming taste of celery, less celery taste would have suited me better.

Good food, very nice and friendly service. They made me and my dog Molly feel very welcome! I'm just passing through but Hollywood's would be a regular stop if I was local! One more thing: GREAT COFFEE.

  • Terry S.

Traveling on 81, looked for a recommended lunch spot and this appealed. 5 minute on/off with quick, friendly service was a big plus - but the real winner was the food. BLT - super fresh L&T, hot crispy Bacon on in store baked bread / choice of 5 kinds. Fruit side was ripe, 3 kinds of fruit, and chilled. Yum! Hot roast beef sandwich / tender beef on in store baked bread with an au jus style gravy with - wait for it / homemade mashed potatoes. They were swoon worthy - and I don't even like them that much...these were Fab - u - lous. Iced tea was scratch made - but the piece de resistance was the coconut cake. As everything looked so good, It was hard to decide / but perfect choice. Light and airy white cake, with a whipped icing (perfect for summer) and a heavy sprinkling of coconut. I LOVE coconut cake, get it everywhere I go, so know the good from the bad, and this teetered on greatness. I had agreed to share and boy, was I sorry. Get your own piece and savor it! Reasonable pricing made this a perfect stop - it will become a regular when we travel 81. Skip the fast food and try it.

We stopped here for dinner based on a recommendation from a hotel in the area. We both had the Coco Loco Chicken Salad, which was very good. The service was fast and staff were friendly.

  • Diane L.

Visiting from NC. Saw the write ups about how good the food was. Boy were we disappointed. I love club sandwiches but because the bread was not toasted it was a soggy mess. The grits with fried oysters was raved about but we found the dish to be sloppy, soggy and just so so. Lastly, eclars are supposed to be filled with a pudding like filling not white fluff. Yuck!!

  • Michael L.

This place came highly recommended, so we tried it out on our way through. Such a disappointment. I'm not sure what previous food experiences all of these high ratings reviewers have, but the food here wasn't very good. It wasn't bad either, exactly, it was... uninspired. It was also moronically expensive. Two kids meals (my kids were called them cow meat sandwiches since they came on bread rather than a bun), a burger (which was actually pretty good) and fish tacos (aka cardboard tacos), 3 soft drinks, a cup of horribly bland white chili and a slice of (I think it was supposed to be) cake... $60. This is actually the second time we've eaten here, and it will most certainly be the last as the first try was just as disappointing. The carpet padding artwork was certainly.... Interesting... As well (see photos). All that said, the wait staff was very good - attentive and very nice. It's not their fault the food isn't any good, so I added one star for that.

Looking for a quality stop not too far off 81 during a day of driving, Yelp led us here, and I'm glad it did. As others note, the service was very friendly. The menu had plenty of options for everyone, including my small kids. They ordered the buttered pasta and cheese to share which was served already split in two bowls. Of the a adults, we ordered the fried green tomato BLT, the salmon salad, and a starter of the coconut shrimp with a side salad. Everyone enjoyed the food, which was clearly made with quality ingredients. We all enjoyed sharing a slice of coconut cake which was delicious; moist and tasted of a hint of pineapple that helped make it. I'm not sure when I'll be near Roanoke again, but I would recommend Hollywood's to any travelers who wish to have a quality meal without having to venture far from their route while avoiding any "downtown" traffic.

This has become a regular stop on our travels to, or through, the Roanoke area. Easy access from I-81, next to Hollins College. Great food, healthy options as well as your regular hearty selections and a basket of fresh baked bread. Definitely worth stopping in for a good meal.

Delicious! I never would have stopped but it was recommended by the folks at Fincastle winery. Delicious food, fair prices, great service. I can't remember the last time I enjoyed a salad so much. Great flavors, fresh ingredients, great lunch!

Drove an extra 100 miles ... And it was worth it. Very tasty burger cooked to perfection. Gumbo like I grew up with. Perfect serving size. Staff very attentive and pleasant. I would drive 100+ miles to eat here again! Oh. ... And the desserts were HEAVENLY. I may need to walk those miles.

Great food and wait staff, the owner was very engaging as well. Chef's creation was very nice. Good portions, not too much. Nice to see local brews on tap, don't recall any nationals-good selection of types. Definitely worth dropping in if you are in the area.

So - prior to eating lunch here with my mom last Friday I had eaten here MANY years ago with my ex-husband before we moved away from the area to Virginia Beach. I've always remembered it fondly. I showed my mom their menu online and she wanted to try it out because she saw the tomato appetizer and BLT sandwich... she's a huge tomato fan. We stopped in around 2-3pm for lunch and there were only about 2 other customers. Our waitress was moderately friendly and she was prompt and competent - but she rubbed me the wrong way with a little bit of attitude she threw my way when I asked her how big the cup of soup was. She snidely said, "Well, it's a cup. Of soup... so...." Um, excuse me, I've had cups of soups at loads of places and one man's cup is not the same as another so I was asking because I hate to waste food, so...... That wasn't appreciated. But the rest of the service was fine. I wanted their white chicken chili nachos because I remember they were amazing but I opted for a little healthier this time since I'd had a milkshake earlier elsewhere and went with a veggie wrap called the Sunshine wrap which had a black bean mix with corn, cheddar cheese, salsa and sour cream rolled in a sun-dried tomato tortilla with a side salad. I asked for the salsa and sour cream on the side. It was pretty good but the salad should not be served on the same plate as the wrap bc once you add dressing it's going to get on your wrap and make it soggy... My mom ordered the fried green tomato BLT and it was disgusting. It was so greasy with the pimento cheese and the small little fried green tomato was like a little token in the middle of the bread.... she didn't like it at all and I took a bite and was really grossed out by all the grease from the cheese.... ugh. Good concept - bad execution. Overall - it wasn't as great as I remember.... the food wasn't all terrible and they have some good sounding items on their menu. But what we got - wasn't spectacular and it was just sort'of underwhelming so my review has to reflect that.

The tobbaco road bbq sandwich was delish, had the baked potato with butter and sour cream, smokin hot, and a local IPA to wash everything down

Stopped in here on the way home and I wasn't disappointed. This is good home cooked food made with love. I really liked my coconut shrimp and was surprised at how good the white bean chili was. Ghost pepper chicken sandwich was full of flavor as well. We even decided to take home some of the home made desserts as well.

GET THE COCO LOCO CHICKEN! It is delicious and unique. It is served with fries, great cole slaw and a honey mustard sauce. Their desserts are delectable and service is very friendly.

Best coconut cake you'll ever find and this is coming from someone who is not crazy about coconut. They also have great BBQ sandwiches with sweet potato fries.

  • Ashley L.

I usually get their cocoloco chicken or their Ceasar salad with blackened chicken, the salad never goes wrong. However, a year ago the coco Loco chicken was not well breaded and extremely greasy, but recently I tried it again and it was much better. I also got fried oysters once and that was delicious! think they could be much more consistent in their cooking. The servers and boss lady is so sweet and offers immediate replacement orders if you are not satisfied with the order, so that makes me extremely happy. I would give this an immediate 5 stars if only their cooking was more consistent, but other than that everything is clean and quaint. If you're a Hollins student, on Tuesday they have 15% off your meal!

I was asked, the other day if there was any restaurant that I really like. I presume that this is due to my recent rants about poor quality places. To correct the recent tide allow me to wax poetic about one of my favorites places in Roanoke. Whether lunch or Dinner Hollywoods does not miss! The food is consistently good, but what takes them over the top is the staff. Best wait staff anywhere I have been! If you haven't gone there do yourself a favor and get over there quickly!

Wonderful food and service. The blue chip appetizer is to die for. I had the shrimp and grits and my compatriots had a meatloaf and a salmon salad. All three were wonderful. Fine restaurant quality.

Stopped in for lunch and found the place very busy. We were still seated quickly and the waitress took our drinks promptly. Had a cup of soup and a couple of sandwiches. Kitchen staff must have been seriously hustling because the food came out fast. The chicken in my ghost pepper sandwich was small, about 4 bites worth of bun with no meat. Also the mustard they use on the sandwich is great, but they spread it on HEAVY. Had to scrape some off in order to taste the rest of the food. The sweet potato fries came out cold. The open face roast beef sandwich was good. Nothing to get excited about but still enjoyable. Overall, it was clean, staff was friendly and attentive, service was good and prices were fair. Food lacked some attention to detail but for the most part was above average for a local dinner. Would eat here again and recommend it to friends

FABULOUSLY DELICIOUS FOOD, $$/4 PRICE, FAST GREAT SERVICE. Had the Ribeye Steak -large filling and cooked to perfection Delish, House Salad was sooo good too. No iceberg lettuce which is great, Shrimp n Grits was the best I've had since Louisiana. Liked how they made the grits into a fried soufflé toast. 5-6 large shrimps it was enough and very delicious LOVED IT, Coco Loco coconut chix so fingerpicking good, moist inside, the Chix Quesadilla was wonderful and the kids ate it all. Finished with a strawberry shortcake and mousse chocolate cake - it was ok. We finished everything it was that good. Food came by quick, server was courteous. Decor was ok. Sort of like a diner /cafe style. Owner came by to check on us. and was very welcoming. Very nice southern hospitality. He was definitely serious about his food and service. Superb quality food!!!!! DEFINITELY WOULD GO BACK and DEFINITELY RECOMMEND

Good food! Great place for a nice lunch. Sweet potato fries were excellent! I had grilled chicken that wasn't dry or chewy. Also the chicken chili was good. Worth a stop if you are around this way. A short hop off route 81.

Staying at the Hampton Inn in Roanoke and the staff recommended this restaurant. Good call. Staff has been exceptional. I've been vegetarian on this trip so I had the salmon salad. The daughter had the Sunshine Wrap. I guess their bakery is outstanding because they sell out of stuff like, wait for it....CREAM PUFFS!!!! The daughter had the chocolate mint brownie and it was "good, really good"

Nice local restaurant with spins on traditional comfort food. Interesting offerings like cajun meatloaf, coconut chicken tenders, and sweet potato cheesecake, all of which I enjoyed. Not too expensive either. Definitely worth going to over a chain.

We stopped here on a road trip from DC to Nashville. What a quaint little place! Everyone knew everyone it seemed, but they also have quite a few tourists (like us) passing through as evidenced by all the pins stuck on the big world map on the wall. The food was good (Coco Loco Chicken Salad) and the local beer was ice cold. I'd definitely stop in here if you are looking for a road stop lunch.

I got coco chicken tenders. Thought it sounded strange, but boy was it delicious! My boyfriend got the meatloaf (I stole a bite or a few) it was quite yummy as well!!!! My inlaw loved her shrimp! It was all around delicious! Our server (Jeremy ) was on point! He never left our drinks get even near half empty before he was there to fill them! He was on the ball with his other tables as well! He was awesome! Used bathroom and it was very clean (which is rare to find these days). Go here!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Great service. Tried the fried oysters, grits, chili and burger. Tasty food for weary travelers. I'm still full 6 hours later. If I'm ever in the area again, I will go back. Thanks.

I've been to Hollywood's several times for lunch and always had good food, but yesterday we had a special occasion there. I called to reserve their private back room (which can easily hold 20) for a dinner between the funeral visitation hours at Oakey's North Chapel for my father-in-law. They were ready for us when we got there, took drink orders as people arrived and took food orders quickly since we had a limited amount of time. They got the food out quickly and it was all delicious. It was really impressive. I highly recommend Hollywoods for food and good service. Try the Tinker Mountain Quesadilla if you like black beans and cheese- really yummy!

My family and several good friends have eaten at Hollywood's for more than 20 years now. This place is consistently 4.8 stars rating, year end, year out. Good-to-great food, reasonable prices and excellent service. Often we see the owner Mark walking around and chatting with the patrons. Most recently I ordered their Grilled Salmon salad with creamy dill dressing (all dressings are homemade). Outstanding salmon cooked perfectly and the greens were super fresh. This salad is close to a Cobb salad as it includes roasted red peppers, fresh (and real) bacon bits, corn, fresh boiled egg and feta cheese. The dinner rolls, as usual, were super fresh and superb tasting - the bakery chef is outstanding. The dill dressing was unique and amazing. The Best Part - this place is always this good every time we come here. How do they manage to be consistently so darn good? Unlike most restaurants, Hollywood's values and nurtures their extensive staff - so their chefs, cooks, waiters and waitresses just keep getting better and better, thus the quality of the food and service is always top notch. This place is "restaurant done right".

Met family there for lunch based solely off good reviews on yelp and it was great! Good menu, nice people, good service, and they acted like they appreciated our business. I'll go back next time I'm in Roanoke!

Delicious find tonight! Good was creative and very good. Desserts taste like they are homemade. Service was great. They were busy on a Wednesday night do you know we weren't the only ones who thought they were good!

Had dinner with the family. Was in town for only a night. Food was good. Two of us had shrimp and grits. It was a brown sauce and spicy. Not what I expected but still good. The service was great. The salad that came with dinner was really only some greens and onion. I enjoy a side salad but like something besides a handful of greens. We split a brownie for dessert and it was good. If I was here I would likely return. Worth giving a try. Not a must do.

Great restaurant with a surprisingly diverse menu. A little pricey for some, but the food is well worth the money. Always busy, and for good reason. The staff is very friendly and courteous. Save room for the desserts, they are amazing.

The service was fabulous and the food was good. We were there on a Thursday and the place was humming with local business. The environment was fun! We would recommend for anyone visiting Roanoke, VA.

I heard all good things about this place, so I expected it to be good. I ordered the meatloaf and it was THE WORST I ever had. I tried to eat it, but couldn't. It tasted like they put a whole lot of sage in it. I would have brought it home for my dog, but I know he wouldn't eat it. It wasn't cheap and my meal was awful. I told my server and nothing was done about it. I won't be back. I wasted my money and I was starving when I left because they didn't replace my meal. NEVER AGAIN

This spot was recommended by the Hotel staff. Yelp looked encouraging, so we decided to give it a try. We drove up and immediately got a good vibe - the place was PACKED on a Wednesday evening. Wait staff could not have been nicer - very friendly and fast as lighting. The owner came up and introduced herself (guess we looked like tourists) - nice touch. My steak was cooked to perfection, her Oysters were nicely prepared also. Portions are huge, no room for desert!! You have to try the Bleu Chips appetizer, homemade potato chips drizzled with blue cheese chunks, diced tomatoes, and green onions - fantastic!!! Next time in Roanoke we will come again!!

Parking available. Small and compact but clean. Service is very good. Menu varied and exciting. Food solid and tasty. With business associates all pleaded with choices. Desserts liked good but I did not have.

This quaint restaurant is located right next to Hollins University and is my favorite restaurant on the north side of Roanoke. The restaurant speaks casual as the decor is simple and updated and the staff are super friendly. The coco loco chicken is so delicious! You won't regret it. The staff is always open to changing sides, etc. so order a vegetable on the side if you want to be healthy. The service and good is always consistently delicious and is the reason I plop in at least a few times a month.

Excellent food, friendly service, very casual atmosphere. On entering, you might think its a standard, small town restaurant for locals who want basic and cheap meals. But the food, of which there is a large variety, is excellent. Everything we had, fried green tomatoes, home made chips with blue cheese, coconut shrimp with plum sauce, pumpkin brownie and coconut cake, are as good as anywhere I've been. Prices are low off the menu, moderate for the specials.
