Captain Ds has been around Richmond for a long time. I have passed it many times, and yesterday I thought I would give it a try. Upon entering, I noticed how nice and clean the place was. The young girl behind the counter greeted me in a VERY nice way.... Great start! So, after looking at the menu on the wall, I decided on the Fried Flounder. I asked her if the Founder was fresh, and she evaded my question.... so, I asked it again, and I could tell... I was not going to get an answer... So, what does this tell me... it tells me, it is FROZEN! So, I ordered it anyway. I also had the Cole Slaw and French Fries. I took my number and waited at a table. They brought the food out in a very timely manner. The reason I am giving it 3 Stars or better yet if they had a half Star, I would have made it into a 3 1/2 star. The Cole Slaw was full of mayonnaise, and very runny. It just did not have any taste to it, as it was so runny. The French Fries, were not cooked fresh and I have a feeling they had been under the heat lamp for a while. They did not have that nice crisp taste in what a French Fry should have when they are right out of the fryer. Now, the Flounder was nice and big. However, when you cut into them, you could tell they had been frozen. The Flounder really lacked in taste as it just did not have any seasoning on it at all.... So, overall... Captain Ds is OK to me.... When I think of Seafood as I am a BIG Seafood fan, I think of Fresh Seafood and this is not. The place is Very clean, and the people who work there cannot be any nicer.... I will give it a shot again at a later time... but not anytime soon.

Service is consistently great, food is alright considering what you pay for. Steak can be burnt on occasion, but shrimp and salmon are usually fine. Good prices quick meal.

I occasionally come to Captain D's for a quick cheap fried fish or shrimp meal. I usually come to this location.The fish, shrimp, and French fries usually come out hot. The sweet tea is tasty. The meals at Captain D's are reasonably priced. The staff is friendly. This location has good customer service.Theres parking in a lot next to the restaurant. Customers get good coupons if you sign up for the e-club. If you're looking for fast fried seafood, Captain D's is a solid choice.

Went here because I had a coupon and a craving fried food could only quench. Captain D's never comes to mind when I'm thinking fast food but maybe it should. Their fries are better than most and they have more of a variety of side dishes. Definitely better than Long John Silvers and it seems as if the food is made to order which is always rad. 3 stars cuz I think it's silly giving a fast food chain higher than that unless they go up and beyond in service and food.

I like this location. My daughter and I went here for dinner to kill time waiting for a Rx across the street. The staff here was so friendly and courteous. I like when you can see theyre genuinly asking and not just because theyre trained to ask. One thing I can say about Capn Ds is they cook fresh piping hot food. Thats a big deal for me. Nothing upsets me more than cold food. I ordered the country style fish dinner .with a breadstick green beans and baked potato. Everything was good.. no complaints. I ate everything on my plate..not a crumb left. The sweet tea was on point today too.
