Stopping in for lunch in downtown P-town (or Portsmouth for those unfamiliar with the area nicknames) and I was feeling some real burgers instead of those fast food joints I'm notorious for stopping at when I want some quick food. Walking in, I witnessed outside some of Portsmouth's finest, but this isn't the blog for that. Inside, the interior was completely what you would expect from a sports bar: huge screens, lots of seating, and a large bar. I was immediately taken back to my time as a server at a local sports bar back home ( Glory Days Grill if anyone is interested), so I feel completely at home in this setting. Service was promt and our drinks came out fast. I ordered their Big Bacon Burger Club and my boyfriend Andy ordered their Backyard BBQ Chicken . We both finished our meals. I am stuffed with a small amour of fries left and a quarter of a burger left, Andy practically cleared his plate. This is some good food. My burger was cooked perfectly with some hot reddish pink in the center as medium should be and their fries....my goodness they were crispy - how I like them. Apparently you can guess that his meal was just as good - he noted that their cole slaw was fresh and had chunks of apple in the mix - I found this to be a delightful surprise. I definitely recommend stopping in this restaurant for a game or two because I know I'll probably be back out there once football starts up again - let's just hope the New York Giants can make it to the Super Bowl again. ALL IN!

My yacht owner and I walked over from Ocean Marine at 6:30 pm. Lots of open tables. Ordered appetizers. Ordered wings and salad. The house salad was very nice and wings tasty. The hiccup is that the main course came to the table while we were in the middle of the appetizers and got cold. Our server, Drew, was apologetic. What management needs to do is teach the floor staff work together as one. The wait staff relies on gratuities to make a living. It's the wait staffs responsibility to connect with the kitchen on timing when entrees come out the window. Pushing the food effects the enjoyment of the diner and effects the servers' bottom line.

*Deep Sigh* It actually pains me to write this because I have been a Roger Brown's supporter and lover since they opened but recently they have fallen off. The last two times I've been here SPECIFICALLY FOR A DINING EXPERIENCE, I have been very disappointed in not only my food but also the service. The first of the last two times I ordered the chicken and waffles. I've had it before on NUMEROUS occasions and I was upset that it was lukewarm like baby spit. The butter of course wouldn't melt AND the chicken was cold. Since I was with a group of my coworkers and I wasn't starving hungry, I decided to just get a box and take it home. Strike ONE. Now this last time was on a Sunday last month, around 2:30. I couldn't believe how dead it was in there. I counted 23 people and 10 of those people were part of a bridal shower. So imagine my surprise about how long it took after we were seated for our waiter to arrive and introduce himself. Then it took him forever to bring our water back to the table. When he came back with the water, he set it down and dashed off towards the kitchen, didn't even ask if we were ready to order (we were actually ready about twenty minutes prior) I ordered the shrimp and grits which I've had, again on NUMEROUS occasions. This entire experience was so horrible that I can't even remember what my friend ordered. So we wait and wait and wait and wait. Did I mention that there were only 23 people in the restaurant? What is the hold up?! Our waiter only came by one time during our 40 minute wait to bring us a refill on water, I was so famished and parched I was ready to leave and get a snack next door at Dollar General. Do you know that after 45 minutes our food came out and it was cold? WTH is going on in the kitchen. First, they have vastly changed the way the shrimp and grits are prepared. Previously, they were always served with the grits on the bottom and the sauce/shrimp/sausage on top. NOW it's a bowl full of sauce/shrimp/sausage and a mound of grits in the center. I couldn't tell you if it was good or not because the way my tastebuds are set up, if something that should be piping hot is served cold, I can't taste it! My taste buds refused to register this dish. I flagged the manager down and told her I was displeased and she looked like she didn't care one way or the other. I sent it back and ordered the fried chicken, macaroni and cheese and the collards. Waited another 15 minutes and the my food came out, the chicken was hot, the mac and cheese hot but the collards cold - not room temperature, but cold. Totally disappointed. I asked for a box, put the food on the box, my friend left $30 in cash on the table and we walked out the restaurant without even waiting for the check, I was so disappointed!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! My chicken was good. Not sure when I'll be back to RB, especially when there are so many other restaurants that I haven't tried.

This is a good sports bar. Booths in back are set up so everyone has an excellent view of the big screen TVS. The booths also have speakers so you can luster into the the of your choice. The mixed drinks are strong and there is a decent selection of draft and bottled beer. There are a couple of local beers on tap which is a good thing. The food is about what you'd expect - burgers, ribs and wings. The crab dip app is really good. I had shrimp, chicken and andouille sausage main which was good although I wish there was a little more chicken.

Good atmosphere. Good food. It's a good hang out spot to watch the game or just have a drink. Would try again.

The server we had was in training. That kid was absolutely amazing! The rest of our visit wasn't so pleasant. My friend and I had gotten our food after my other two friends completely finished theirs. The manger there has no idea how to talk to people or run that restaurant. There were multiple mistakes made and the server and the manager had two different stories on why our food came out so late! Also, the manager had said he would discount my food, when we got our receipts, it was not discounted. We wait 15 minutes for our receipts!!! I will not ever be back in that establishment nor will I recommend anyone to go there!! My apologies.

Their Caribbean honey jerk wings are amazing!!! I usually get it with a side of mac and cheese but as of lately, it's been hit or miss. Maybe I like taking risks, because I sure do keep ordering hoping to hit it big!

Once you walk into this joint, you'll be like, "dang I didn't know it was that big inside here." It looks smaller from the outside. Anyway, great sports bar that can accommodate about any size party--I think my group was about 20 heads. Like any regular sports bar, the food to me was good, but not amazing knock-your-socks-off. I had a couple beers to settle my mind and stomach. This was the most important thing I wanted from this joint. Otherwise, I could've done without the food (I don't even remember what I ordered). I would rather go somewhere else for food, then catch a ball game sitting at their huge bar. I would come back if I still worked in the area--the staff was really nice and you just get a nice vibe to relax.

Roger Brown's used to be a 3-4 star place but service and the quality of food have greatly declined. On our visit on a Tuesday evening our server called my friend, "yo," several items, said, "word," when we placed our orders and had to be tracked down to replace my cold fries and to bring the bill. To cap it off, he added 20% gratuity to a party of two's bill with no explanation and went to sit down by the big screens. Not cool.

Friendly bar staff. Tons of TVs tuned into sports. Great place for large groups to catch games; lots of seating available. Outdoor seating available along High Street. Pool tables in the back. Dinner was decent. I had the oyster po boy and it was about a B- in my opinion; the sauce used didnt really have a "wow" factor and the size was much smaller than my prefered po boy size. The atmosphere is an A. With live sports plastered all over the walls, good beer selection on tap, and pool tables in the back, you can't go wrong.

Made the mistake of coming here, Sunday evening, May 24. I met a group of 3 friends who were already seated. After about 30 minutes, the waitress made her first appearance (since I arrived) when she brought out their appetizers, well 2 out of 3 of them anyway. I tried to order a crab dip and a simple glass of water. The others asked for silverware to be able to eat the appetizers (imagine that!). After 20 minutes, I gave up on ever receiving the water, and walked over to the bar, for a water & a drink. Even at the bar, the staff was uninterested to be of service and lacked personality & politeness. I came back to the table, where they were still waiting for silverware, and the third appetizer. The waitress was who knows where. We flagged down another server who said they were rolling up silverware in the kitchen and there would be a delay. A restaurant without any clean silverware ready? I might add, it wasn't even packed in there that evening. The waitress eventually appeared with the third app, which was lukewarm, and my crab dip. The crab dip had an unappealing seafood odor to it, but it at least was hot. After sharing it and tasting it, there was no way we could finish it. It tasted as if it had been frozen and nonetheless definitely tasted odd. Our waters were never refilled, with one in our party opting to get a water refill at the bar. Again, our waitress never checked in on us to see how was the food. Seriously, 30-40 minutes easily went by without her coming to our table or even spotting her in the restaurant. We saw her casually walking by near the bar. One of us actually went up to her and requested our checks, so we could finally end the night. You would think she would realize we were ready to go, and promptly come to our table to collect the cash/credit cards. Nope. Not at all. Again, we flagged down a server in another area, only to be told we had to check out with our server, who had once again disappeared into thin air. We even tried to check out at the bar, but were to told had to wait for the server to return. Eventually, we paid our tab and left. I have to hope this was a fluke. Maybe new management? But from looking around the restaurant, there were plenty of empty waters and unhappy looking patrons. I used to love this place and 2 out of the 4 appetizers were edible, hence the 2 stars. In hindsight, we should've asked for the manager, but honestly I don't even know if there was one on duty. What a bummer.

The best food I had while in the Portsmouth, Hampton, and Chesapeake area. I had the ribs. My buddy had the chicken and waffles, which I had to taste. Food was amazing. The place has plenty of tvs to see any game that you want to. The booth was comfortable and our waiter was really friendly. Definitely a must do if you are in the area. I may make a trip soon just to come back to eat here.

Our meal here was pretty good. It was a little better than your typical chain restaurant meal. I had a burger with fries, and it was as delicious and juicy as I had hoped. So were the fries. Actually they were much better than most restaurant fries. The service was definitely their standout though. Anyone who was around our general area, checked on us. They seemed more than happy to help when we needed ketchup, or to get the missing bacon for my burger. It was also really nice that they included a (free) sundae with my son's kids meal. It was a wonderful surprise for him. I would probably come back again, if I was in the area.

Lots of space inside, hard to find a parking during lunch so be on the lookout. I have driven past this locations several times and not once did it interest me. However, a couple of the guys from work mentioned this spot on occasion and so I finally went today. My coworker and I met up here a little past noon and I was able to nab a spot right in front of the restaurant. He, however has to park behind the establishment. Parking in this part of Ptown sucks! But that's okay, I enjoy the walk. Anyway, once inside I was hit with the Cracker Barrel scent however, it looks pretty classy. And as others have mention its looks bigger on the inside then from what it appears to be on the outside. Theres lots of seating from booths to tables and then the bar. The crowd was much more diverse than what I was expecting, single guys looking to pick up chicks, old men in suits, cookie cutter families and couples. The lightening is kinda dim but it has a good ambiance about it. The bathrooms were well kept and classy too. They have these huge tvs near the far left that play sports ( its a sports bar after all...) and thats where we sat after waiting a couple of minutes to be attended to. Since it was lunch hour and I had to return to work I didn't order any cocktails but I definitely will if I find my way back here. We ordered the crab dip which came with toasted buttery bread points...yum! The dip definitely tasted like crab and not some mock meat. The sauce was also very creamy and cheesy. I'm pretty sure I ate like 75% of the appetizer, it stood no chance. My friend ordered pork chops which he asked to be grilled instead of fried and that came with mashed potatoes and collards. The mash potatoes looked dry to me and I tasted the greens which pretty much tasted like salt. I ordered Shrimp and Grits and asked if the ham could be left out. The Shrimp and the cheesy sauce was absolutely great. The spinach kinda threw me off but it wasn't horrible. Now, the grits had a alright taste but they seemed to clumpy and not creamy enough. Overall, I would go back on a jazz night or something to test out their drinks since it is a bar type place. It seems like a good place to take your date out but not so much for families. The price isn't gonna break your pocket but considering the portion size I feel like it can be steep.

Service was below avg, however; the food was delicious. Great menu with lots to choose from. Also, live DJ on Saturdays with a $5 cover ....all in all

I've been here quite a few times and more recently for lunch during Veteran's Day. This place is a great place for groups of people, it never gets too crazy to the point where people get violent. It's a very nice social atmosphere where everyone shares the same goals..to eat good food, drink great drinks, and to have fun with friends, gloat about sports, and occasionally talk with others. Staff is great, the waiters are gentlemen and the waitresses are beautiful. I've had my birthday here with my boys and was able to enjoy a cigar outside on the patio. No one bothers anyone besides being loud during games. Other than that, everything is expected of a sports bar and I will continue to come here during special occasions.

I am not totally impressed with this place. For one, it's right down the street from my house. This is nice because it was only about a 5 minute walk. The place is HUGE. A large wall of just TVs and a giant wrap around bar. I sat at the bar to start celebrating a friend's birthday. Let me say this: if it is Friday at 4:00 p.m.- WHY DON'T YOU HAVE MORE THAN ONE BARTENDER ON STAFF? I'm going to give them the benefit of the doubt and assume that maybe someone called off last minute. This caused whatever staff that could help to be rude. The bartender was really hard to get a hold of and only paid attention to one side of the bar. The prices for happy hour were good and sadly I didn't have any of the food. The food did look good, though. I'll give them another chance but I'm a bit disappointed and will show up with low expectations.

Went during lunch on a Friday, bar tender was pretty solid. Had the skirt steak with mashed potatoes and collard greens. Potatoes were a little dry but it was out in a timely manner and the food was great.

Delicious taste of southern living through fried green tomatoes that will bring out your inner Idgie & Ruth. The crisp tomatoes top a paddy of grits & ham in a special sauce that's better than butter. Fried catfish and collard greens will make you feel like a Georgia peach and the Service is outstanding. For a lighter night the chicken Caesar salad is crisp & yummy.

I went to Rodger Brown's to watch sports and eat dinner with my family. We were seated after a 5 minute wait. Your waitress brings complimentary mini cornbread muffins to the table. The cornbread muffins were excellent. I ordered a marinated flank steak meal with mashed potatoes and mac & cheese. The flank steak was grilled well and finished with a sweet soy glaze. Both sides were tasty. The dessert menu was limited. Our waitress was very attentive and polite (5 stars to the waitress). She stayed on top of our table with refills. Rodger Brown's is a great place to watch sports as well. There are multiple televisions throughout the restaurant (4 big projectors screen). It's best to sit in the booth if you're watching sports. Customers can control the projector sound from the booth. The restaurant was very spacious. Rodger Brown's Restaurant and Sports Bar is a great choice for grabbing a bite to eat and watching sports. There's a patio area for customers wanting to sit outside. I give Rodger Brown's Restaurant and Sports Bar a 4.5 rating.

We were given a giftcard here and we're excited to try it. The thing is I want to like this place, I really do. But, I dont. The atmosphere, while loud, is pretty great. There were a ton of people there, 90% of the tables were full. Football games were playing all around, speakers at every table and booth for the games, lots of room for parties. Huge bar. It looks like a great place. Drink menu is slim. Dinner menu is average size and all sounds amazing but ends up subpar at best. In the 10 minutes we were waiting to order I saw no less than 4 people send food back to the kitchen. Uh oh. But we charged on and had the Firecracker calamari for an appetizer. It came with 2 sauces, a thai chili and some sort of ranch sauce. I liked the thai chili but thought the other sauce tasted rancid. Hubs liked the ranch sauce and hated the thai chili, so maybe it was me. I could have done without all of the tomatoes on top but that was whatever. Taste was good and we demolished it pretty quickly. For our entrees my husband got the home fried chicken with mashed potatoes and greens. I got the Cabo fish tacos. The appetizer came out quickly as did the entrees. Hubs took a few bites of his food when he just sighed and looked at me, dissatisfied and disappointed. I had to try it. The chicken tasted delicious for the split second after you put it in your mouth. As you began to chew, it became very very oily and at the same time very dry. It seemed like it had been cooked hours before and was sitting under a lamp. The potatoes were ok, really salty. About the only slightly redeeming item on the plate. The greens were mushy and bland. My Cabo fish tacos were ok. Just ok. The plate comes out as one giant peice of fried fish sitting on the slaw, which was very wilted at that point, with sauce and pico all over it. The tortillas are folded on the edges of the plate. The fish was mostly oily breading that overpowered anything else. Once I peeled off 75% of the breading before putting it into the taco, it was better. Again , it was just ok. However, by time we were halfway done with the meal, it was sitting like a boulder in our stomachs. Just heavy and unpleasant. Now that we are home with multiple trips to the bathroom, cancelled plans for a night out, and a metric ton of TUMS, we are feeling somewhat ok. I dunno, maybe their forte is something other than what we had. But we won't be going back to try it.

Such potential. Great spot in Olde Town with a nice patio, large bar and a good atmosphere. That doesn't compensate for the sloooow service - 60 minutes to get our food. We sent the chicken nachos back they were soggy and the lettuce was warm. They'd obviously been sitting under a warmer for a while. The brisket was very fatty and the fries were sad freezer fries. Food was so salty that my stomach is still upset hours later and I can generally eat anything and feel fine. Never going back.

The chicken and waffles were not good but the other food we ordered was very good. The bartender was rude and it took a long time to get served drinks at the bar. I didn't think the staff was friendly at all.

I know not why I do this to myself..... A few weeks ago when I checked in for Happy Hour, I decided to grab something to eat in addition to the usual round(s) of drinks. Well, I ordered the nachos. Just as disappointing as they were 2 years ago. I figured I would enjoy them being 4 happy hour drinks in and I mistakenly assumed that they might have improved over time but no luck. They're just such a huge mess to me - it's like my son took nacho ingredients and haphazardly flung them onto a serving platter. No bueno. I learned my lesson with those and I say all this to warn you. Stay away from the chicken nachos. Last night, I ordered the Cuban sandwich. I was impressed. The sandwich isn't made with the traditional Cuban bread but it's comprised of the traditional ingredients. Pork, ham, Swiss cheese, mustard and pickled cucumbers. Really good. The Cuban sandwich more than made up for their nachos. The bread was crisp right off the griddle. Kind of reminded me of a patty melt, the bread at least. Overall, their food runs the whole gamut from deliciously mouth watering (Cuban sandwich) to meh (chicken nachos). My girlfriend either orders the marinated flank steak or the fried livers. She swears by the steak. I have yet to try it, but I believe her. We're both a bit snobby when it comes to good steak and it does look delicious.

Great day to sit on patio for lunch. Had great crab cake sandwich which I wanted broiled but forgot to ask so it was fried but still good. The she crab was delicious but didn't like the celery in it as I've never had it that way before. Good experience.

Great service from start to finish. Food was good too with prices that are in company with other pubs in area. Plenty of TV's to watch any sporting event you like. They are remodeling an area in the back for games.

Food was pretty good. Service was terrible. I went there for lunch with my father. It was several minutes after being sat at our table before we were approached. I should point out that it was not busy at all. The server we initially had knew nothing about the beer selections and had a crappy attitude about it. I asked her if she could find out what was on tap and she never came back to the table. After waiting 10 minutes or so we flagged down another server who then took our orders and waited on us. He was nice, but it still took a while for our food and drinks to arrive. Also, the previous young lady, her bad attitude and disheveled appearance just left a bad taste in my mouth. My parents seem to really enjoy this establishment, so I really wish I could rate it higher.

All i've had are the chicken tenders, burgers, and fries, all of which are pretty good. i like my chicken fingers naked so that i can dip in whatever sauce i get or the ranch. not a fan of wings and chicken fingers drowned in sauce. good place to get beers and watch sporting events.... lots of big screens all over the place.

I used to really enjoy this place and come on a frequent basis but I'm done now. I came in and showed my out of state ID (as I've done several times). The bartender didn't think it was real and called over the manager who proceeded to quiz my on the information as if it was a fake ID. After I "passed" the quiz I was served watered down drinks almost as if the manager still wasn't sure about the ID. I quickly closed my tab and left. Crap service all around. I'll take my money to Baron's down the street from now on.

I have been to the establishment two times now and after those two times, I have decided not to return...at least not for the food. The first time I ate here was a few weeks ago with a friend. We ordered the spinach dip for a starter, it was not like any spinach dip I've ever had..meaning it was not up to par. I had the grilled chicken sandwich. It had two large pieces of chicken on it (which was pretty dry). The second time I ate here was last night. There was four of us in our group and we were seated in the bar area..which was VERY loud. My husband's chicken tenders were very dry and my burger was cooked well done (even though I was never asked how I would like it cooked). The plus side of both of our meals were the fries...they are very delicious. We split up the bill between the two couples. We noticed that our gratuity was already added. I thought that was very strange for them to do that with a group of four. The one good thing about Roger Brown's is the staff. Both times I came here, the service was great. But, it is not worth paying $10 for a burger or $11 for chicken tenders. If you want good bar food, I suggest going down High St. towards Baron's pub.

Now, there is nothing upon nothing fancy or elegant about Portsmouth, VA. But Roger Brown's is the closest thing. It is a quiet sports bar (if that makes sense) where you can sit down, eat, drink, and watch tv. The food was great. It was always a good time in Roger Brown's. Downtown Portsmouth is just such a nice area to walk around in (just dont go too many blocks to the left!) so it was nice to be able to walk to dinner with some friends.

Went here with a friend of mine after a few years and I was overall disappointed. Food is about average and not worth the price I paid. Hard to hear who you were with because of the surrounding noise. Biggest thing that plucked my nerve was I was having phone reception issues and the wi-fi was not connected to the Internet. Should have saved my money.

Possibly the BEST veggie burger (loved the teryaki glaze) and crispiest french fries I've ever had! This place is in a great location and we had awesome service! The only thing that would've made it better is if the speakers at our booth worked so my babe could've heard the football game. Would definitely recommend and come back!

Sports Bar wanna be owned by a retired NFL player. Typical sports bar food, along with some special menu items. This place was MUCH better when it first opened. Now that it has been awhile, it is like no one cares any more. They have enough regulars to pay the bills so they do not bother doing anything to get new people in.

Work in Portsmouth so went with a group for lunch not bad at all the food was well prepared and the customer service was great but order ahead or make reservations because area can be hard to navigate during lunch... This was probably our 4th visit here. The last few times we visited we ordered the Asian Nachos, which are phenomenal! When we arrived we were promptly sat. But had to wait 5 minutes before the3 servers that stared us down decided who would wait on us. We ordered our drinks, sweet tea-delicious, and 2 apps. After 20 minutes, 1 app, the fried green tomatoes arrived and then we were told that the Asian Nachos were out. The food was ran by someone other than our server and that is who notified us. She seemed annoyed that the server left us hanging. SO we proceeded to start with the Fried Green Tomatoes and I ordered a seperate meal since the nachos were going to be my meal. As my husband was eating, he bit into what we believe was a chipped piece of porcelein?! It was so loud I thought he was chewing on ice! Thankfully, it did not chip his tooth, but he swallowed some. Next, a manager randomly comes by and abruptly says, "we are out of greens", ok, so we choose another side. My husband tells him about the porcelin and he offered to pay for the app. WHich was fair. Then the salads arrive. They were probably the best part. Now, the dinners arrive. NOTE: the tables seated 5 and 10 minutes after us have already received their checks. We were there over 1.5 hours. Too long for a casual dinner. We decided that we probably won't eat here again, since the service was lacking and the fact that we were afraid of every bite we made would contain something, I know just paranoia. The other times we visited were great, just not sure what happened this time?

Great sports bar with so many TVs. Huge bar, lots of tables. Crab cakes are awesome and the service is great.

The atmosphere is nice, lots of seating and TVs all around to watch watever game is on. But the service and food is mediocre at best. I ordered the meatloaf meal with 2 sides and no lie, it took at least an HOUR to get my food. The waiters for our table seemed either new or nonchalant about the whole ordeal with my order. I wish I could say the meatloaf was worth the wait. I do like the fact that there are pool tables in the back. It's a decent hang out spot, but the inside is a little too loud for my taste.

Dinner on Saturday night. It was ok. My friends steak was delicious, I had the jambalaya, and all I can say about that is that tasted like someone opened a can of crushed tomatoes and poured it over rice and served it. Menu said chicken, shrimp and andouille but there were only three pieces of shrimp, one tiny bite of sausage and then some chicken mixed in with the tomato rice. Not good at all. To my surprise though, the waiter removed it from my bill after I told him I didn't like it. He didn't have to do that but so nice that he did.... And THAT is why I will come back. I'll just try something else next time. I appreciate the great service and graciousness. Maybe next visit I'll be able to up the rating.

I went to Roger Browns a few years back for the first time and I just so happen to pick the night a boxing match was being shown. The place was jammed pack to the point it was over capacity, my friends and I had a table in the dining room area so it wasn't that bad. That night they had to come around and collect empty glasses, because they didn't have enough glasses. I had the pulled pork, which is good the food is great, but when it came time to have dessert I had picked the cheesecake which came out warmer than room temperature. The manager had came over and asked us how everything was and we told him about the cheesecake, (just about everyone, which it was 6 of us had gotten the cheesecake) and he looked like he didn't want to give us a refund for it!! Now I decided to give them another chance and just so happens again that I went out on a day where the LSU vs Alabama game was being shown, no problem I wasn't there to watch the game. It was my 7 friends and I, long story short the host said they don't have tables that sit 8 people a little frustrated I stood around for a few more minutes, since I don't stay in the area I really wanted to eat there, so I asked another female hostess and she said no I can't help you, (they had tables in the dining area available that they could put together, but hesitate to do so) so I said basically you want me to go to another restaurant and she just looked at me and shrugged her shoulders. That threw me off, so my friends and I just walked out of the restaurant to go somewhere else. The next place we go (which I would not name) there was a birthday dinner with 25 people, the host there said, that's a big group but we can make it work!! That really bugged my that they didn't even try to help out the situation at hand but just stood there helping other people. Bad service. Now for the one time I was at Roger Browns and got to taste the food it was good, but the service there is terrible. Definitely not a place to go to when you have a party bigger than 6 and do not go when big sporting events take place, because they do not know how to handle a big crowds.

Not being a big sports gal, sports bars are a bit of a mystery to me. What I gather is that they should be big with lots of TV screens tuned to a variety of sporting events and an assortment of fans screaming at said TV screens. Roger Browns seems to excel in these areas, so I'm giving it the A-OK. It's actually nicer than most of the sports bars I've been in. I ate lunch there one weekend with my family. Basically we were walking through Olde Towne and back to the ferry and it was the closest thing. I thought the food was just OK. I had a burger and it was a little overcooked. Nice big patio, though. It's a great people watching spot. And if I developed an affinity for football, it'd be on my list of hangouts.

Not much in Ptown, even with slow service the Thai wings are worth it. Also, the bartenders are real selective on who they treat right.

First time in Roger Browns, and thoroughly enjoyed our experience, from the manager opening the door for us, to the great server Candace. Food was really good bar food, and reasonably priced. Chicken and Waffles, and the brisket sandwich were both great options. Definitely will be back!

We went to Roger Browns today for lunch while we visited the Children's Museum. I was leery after reading the poor reviews on Yelp but we ventured in anyways. The host was prompt and polite! Let us know that we were in for a treat because Roger Brown himself was in the building! He was very courteous and asked us exactly where we would like to be seated. We chose a little four person table right next to a huge window that allowed us the view of the hub of Portsmouth, Our waitress was very sweet, I can't remember her name but she had fantastic ombré hair that she had her boyfriend dye. (Kudos to that great boyfriend!) She was timely and made sure our food order was placed quickly! She never left our drinks empty. Our food - Two cheeseburgers, shrimp and crispy golden fries ( I'm on a diet and I think I blew it by eating most of them) as well as the Mexican salad (the avocado ranch was delicious! My husband tried a Sweet Baby Jesus, I even had a few sips... I don't care for beer but it was great! Best part was our food was delivered to our table by Roger Brown himself. I say give it a try, it may just surprise you.

Food is good, but the service is disorganized and just not worth the hassle. I do like this place but Mr. Brown needs someone in there to take control of the service. The one star is not because I hate the place but I hope in a little way it helps to turn the place around. Today, our waitress tried but I saw her running food to various parts of the huge establishment. Table by us had their own order drama. Waitress didn't know what was on tap, and when it was time to order drinks no one was at the bar to produce them. I finally got my meal in about 40 minutes or so but my friend's didn't arrive for about 30 minutes after that. This is not a one off occurrence. Waitress did offer some appetizers to my friend to eat while I was chowing down and this says it all about the place, meaning that the people there are good folks at heart but they really need to get organized. Until then I'll have to go elsewhere.

This is a popular spot in Portsmouth. The venue is HUGE! (Needless to say, great for large groups.) They have a large bar and plenty of TVs with sports playing. The food is okay, the beer is good. The waitstaff can be slow, but I think thats because the venue is huge and they don't quite staff it enough. This is not the spot you hunt to find because its amazing. This is the spot that's super convenient that will do the trick when you don't have any other ideas. I never set out to go here, but sometimes end up here when other locations flop.

Just left the restaurant on 25 May 15 at 7:30. Without a doubt, worst case of service I've been subjected to in years. The waiter stumbled for almost forty minutes to get three drinks on the table. Over an hour to get food. And it wasn't crowded. Food okay but part of eating out is service. Thank god another person (waitress) came by to help out. No management anywhere asking how was your service. If other Portsmouth restaurants were open tonight, we would have bailed. Skip this place. A one rating was given because zero wasn't available.

Wide beer selection. Had the catfish, good but nothing special. Yams were great, and the mac and cheese reminded me of Mom's. Buddy had the spicy Thai wings, and was not disappointed. What did dissapoint was the service. Latoya, or Toya, was our server. I saw Mandy go by a helluva lot more than Latoya, and it took well over 5 min per request to get my beers. She even took forever to run my credit card, then passed by my table 5-7 minutes later, then realized she already had my card, then took another 5 min to come back for my signature. Now, I understand if she had a lot of tables, but I doubt it. When I left, I seemed to be the last one there. I do have to say, Latoya did talk my drunk buddy through his food order pretty well, being patient and walking him through all his options. That was good of her. I just don't think she's cut out to be a waitress.

*Update* finally had a chance to try their food and was surprised at how good everything tasted. Ordered shrimp & grits and the bread pudding both were outstanding minus the presentation of the bread pudding. Unfortunately I got a really bad stomach ache after eating the food.

I REALLY want to give this place a one star, however the food was decent, but our service was just terrible. Take other reviewer's advice and go somewhere else. My husband ordered the fried chicken sandwich tossed in buffalo and a I ordered the Cabo fish tacos. The sandwich had no buffalo sauce and our waitress admitted to noticing it didn't look right. After asking to just have the sauce brought out we waited 12mins and my husband finally just decided to eat his sandwich because it was cold. Our waitress returned and we both had finished our meal and she was like "did you every get your sauce?" We said no and she seemed surprised. The batter on chicken was good and the fries are the kind that are a little sweet and salty. My tacos were not even tacos. I had fried flounder on a bed of flavorless cole slaw with four tortillas. I was not prepared to assemble my own tacos. That said the batter was decent, but again both the pico and slaw were flavor less. We thought it would be quick service as its a sports bar it took over an hour for the beers and dinner and we are still waiting for our check. Take previous reviewers advice and go to any of the other amazing restaurants in old town.

BURGER NIGHT!!! I absolutely love the atmosphere of this place. You can actually tell by time you entered they premises. The free spirit ambience and fun vibes brightens the whole entire place. The setting of their restaurant is creatively unique. I must say though this place may labelled as a Sports bar but I do believe it's ideal for all occasions. The outside deck is a great spot to relax with a pint of beer or a bottle of wine. In recent visit, I had one of the specials in the menu which is the award winning burger. Gosh, it was juicy and perfectly cooked. The meat was seasoned well and the flavor was very complex. Of course, what could be a perfect partner to compliment delish burger but a cold pint of beer. Yes, without a doubt I'll come back and try something new. Probably, bring some friends for a fun night.

This is a great place to watch "the game." Whatever sports you're into, it's on at Roger Brown's. There are a buncha TVs, and three or four gargantuan ones towards the back. I do believe that's why most people come here. It CAN'T be the food. Plenty of people here too, if you're into staring...I mean, people-watching. Love connections have been made, and severed (I'm sure.) But if you come to Roger Brown's for food, be prepared for the longest wait of your life. Like, the game will be well into the third quarter before your meal arrives. Hopefully, just hopefully, your drink will have arrived before then. I've come here on an early Tuesday afternoon, when there were maybe two other tables. Just ordered dessert and it took an hour to arrive. Literally. Sure, I wanted to get up and leave, but that is a testament to how much I love bread pudding. Theirs is good. Not the best, but worth the wait...if you have time. There's another restaurant around the corner with more amazing bread pudding that'll come to you in about ten minutes but I'm not naming any names. STILL, this one is worth a taste, at the very least.

This place is pretty good! It's huge and sprawling and has a lot of room to fit people. Quite a few tvs spread out throughout the restaurant and bar areas and the booths in the middle have buttons you can press to choose which TV you want to hear right there in your booth. Pretty cool. We had a party of 10 and were seated very quickly. They brought our drinks and took our orders very quickly. At first I wanted to order a buffalo chicken sandwich, but the way it was worded on the menu kind of scared me off of it. It just said something along the lines of "fried chicken sandwich. Try it buffalo style". If it's not their main way of doing it, i shy away from it. So instead I went with the pulled pork. Our food came pretty quickly except for the chicken Hemingway. That came out significantly later than the rest of the food... Which I think they should have asked whether we wanted all the food at once or if it was ok if that took longer. Apparently they make their pasta from scratch. The pulled pork was good, but a little fatty and greasy to the point that it soaked through the bun. So I had to eat it with a fork. Still tasted good though. The fries were great. Tried the chicken and it was very good, but the bread that game with that dish was pure salt and butter. It was gross. Kids meals were very good and came with ice cream so that was nice. Overall a very enjoyable experience. Someone in our group ordered the lean brisket and that looked incredible. I will try that next time I'm in the area.

It's pretty good. I had the "she-crab" soup and the Chicken Hemingway. What gave the score a 3 though is the ambiance. Not of fan but would come back because the food was pretty good. Service is excellent.

Good was decent not the best or biggest portion for the price, the mixed drinks were flat. Yet the experience is more than simply the food, the aura of the environment is outstanding. All and all a 3 with knocks strictly on portion size in relation to plating.

The restaurant is huge with ample seating. There are multiple televisions, with a little something for everyone. I'm not into sports but can always find something to keep me entertained. The service however, and lack of customer service and professionalism really turned me off. I'm in the service industry so therefore my expectations are already high. I understand wanting to connect with your customers, but you are at and the male bartender seemed too worried about being cool than his job. It was our first time, didn't offer menus until we told him such. When I asked if the martini -The Quencher- was good he stated, "it tastes like a martini." Uhhhh okay! However, his unenthusiastic response did not deter me. I got it. Great drink. Menu states it was $8, charges us $9. No biggie! Caribbean honey jerk wings were big, and delicious and I was able to get all flats! Yay! Everything was great the service was the only downfall. We also ordered another round of drinks and crab dip during our paint nite session! It had to have been an hour or so before they came. Smh. Wouldn't make the 45 minute trip just to visit Roger again!

Bad 2nd experience on another Friday night. It wasn't busy when I got there and we were seated promptly. However we didnt get service from a waiter for another 20 minutes. We tried to get the attention of everyone walking by who worked for the restaurant with no hope. The manager finally came to us and asked us if we had been helped and got us a waiter. The food blah, mac and cheese was cold with yardly any cheese. Bbq wings with too much sauce and watered down drinks. The burrito was good so the entire dinner didn't go to waste. The quickest part of the meal was receiving our check. This for sure will be my last time here.

Going to keep this short and to the point. My wife loves their drinks and wings. At 6ft2 265 I can not finish their massive chicken stuffed burrito!!! I love it!!!! Great atmosphere! Great staff! Great Time!!

The music is wonderful. Sounds great and at the right level. You can still hear your table mates during ballads. The food is great. We had crab dip to start the night. Real lump meat. Yeah! Dinner was fried chicken, collards and mashed potatoes. Great portions and the drinks were awesome! Wonderful date night! Improvements all around. Good service, good live bands, and great food. Well done.

Service is kinda ehh. Food you never know if it's going to be good or mediocre. The only reason I'm giving this place 4 stars is because it's a fun place to come watch games! Always ask for the cornbread bites with honey butter! Those will never fail you!

Decent food. Large portions for salads. My fiancé and I split the crispy chicken salad - they split it for us but gave us the wrong dressings. It's meant to come with goat cheese but they gave me blue cheese on mine (my fiancé for some reason still got goat). We also split the shrimp/rice appetizer with "toast points" which were more like slices of bread drenched in butter. They let us bring the dog on the porch for lunch which was GREAT! But walking through the restaurant to get outside - WOW it smells awful inside. I mean, I get it's a sports bar but air the place out or something! It was a Friday around 1 PM, it shouldn't smell like gross old cheap beer and feet. Not something I wanna smell during lunch.

Roger Brown's is a dependable staple in downtown Portsmouth. We went in for lunch yesterday with out of town guests. They enjoyed the football decor and reminiscing. The burgers were spot on and served exactly to specifications. Anything fried at Roger Brown's is a party in your mouth. The big fried chicken sandwich was delish. The fries are lightly breaded and awesome-sauce! I don't normally care for fries but these are perfection. Crispy on the outside and melt-in-mouth inside. The bbq was a generous portion served on ciabatta bread and ok. Their slaw is super nice with apple pieces and really elevated the pulled pork bbq sandwich up a level. The service was solid. The only downside is it always takes forever to get your food. But if you are enoying your dining companions it is forgiveable.

Very nice restaurant! I loved the enormous televisions on the back wall by the bar. Never been to a sports bar with a fireplace and great food besides wings! There's a great selection on the menu! I was so happy with my chicken @ waffles selection! Gives the Gladyse Knight chicken & waffles in ATL a run for there money. Well worth a try! The fried chicken breast meal is also delicious!

Had two $10 cheeseburger, originally brought for homeless outside of restaurant who left before able to get it to them. I only had some of one. Worst cheeseburger I have ever had. Meat had no flavor at all, a sad piece of lettuce, tomato was OK, bun drenched in some sort of butter/mayo mixture. The bacon was the skinniest I have ever seen. It looked like they took one small piece and cut it three times to put on. I can say that no way will I visit again. Maybe it was a bad day, but that is all it took for me.

Recommended for anyone in the area! We had the fish tacos which were delicious, fresh and presented well. The pork chops were a little tough but still tasted yummy. I think the park that made up for chops was the waitress... She was training someone and if the trainee mirrors half of how attentive and friendly she was, she'll do well. Drinks were never empty. Recommendations were genuine

I really want to like this place. So much so that I've given it three chances. First let me start by saying I've been eating galley food for the better part of ten years - so my standards are not high. I just want cold drinks, warm food with flavor, and efficient service. Strike One: I go there with a friend on a Friday night in January. It was packed. We are seated immediately by a less than engaged hostess who texted during the entire transit to our table. 5 minutes go by. Well they are busy. 10 minutes go by. Maybe they are short staffed. 15 minutes go by. Wait a minute- those people sat down after us and they have drinks! 20 minutes go by. Some people who sat down after us have drinks and have already ordered, but other people like us have not even been acknowledged. We decide to leave. No one notices. On our way out the door, the same hostess who sat us says, "hope you enjoyed everything - have a good night!" You too, Hun. Strike Two: I go there with another friend on a Saturday night in April. It was packed. We are seated quickly by a different hostess. Very cheery and engaging. Our waitress comes to the table immediately. She is motivated and knowledgeable about the menu. I have to say - awesome service by this girl! Annnnnnd that's the nicest thing I have to say about my experience that night. The fried green tomatoes arrived looking like a two year old put everything on the plate. No sweat, I thought - maybe they still taste good. Nope. Lukewarm with cold grits and various sauces poured over everything. So over-cooked that I needed a knife to saw pieces off. My entree was a salad - so bland I can't even remember which one it was. I just know I didn't finish it. Strike Three: I went tonight (a Tuesday) by myself and sat at the bar. The place was decently empty. A few tables were full and a few spots on the other side of the bar were taken. There were 3 bartenders working and maybe 5 other customers at the bar. For some reason it still took 5-10 minutes to get a drink order in. 10-15 minutes after I ordered my sweet tea (nothing too complicated), I noticed the bartender making a frozen drink on the other side of the bar . . . He finally makes it back about 20 minutes after I ordered my tea. I ordered ASAP as I was afraid he wouldn't come back for another 20. Fried green tomatoes (maybe there was a new cook last time) and the veggie burger. No kidding, the tomatoes arrived 5 minutes (at the most) after I ordered, looking even worse than last time. I should have taken a picture. The plate was almost over flowing with some liquid orange sauce. There were limp field greens floating in the sauce. Some thicker, paler sauce had landed throughout the orange lake in various sized globs. And again, the tomatoes were so cooked - yet somehow still cold - that I needed a knife to saw them. Except this time, the consistency was almost beef- jerky like so I gave up after the first tomato. Grits were cold again. Sigh. The veggie burger was ok. It really was. But the last bite had that plastic-y taste like it had been in Saran Wrap or something. And it was barely warm. Just so disappointing. The grand total came to $23. For jerkey tomatoes, and an ok veggie burger. You're out.

Not really sure how there are 4 star reviews on this restaurant. My family and I were downtown visiting the Children's Museum and wanted to try somewhere new. This was a big mistake. The only thing good we tried were the fresh chips. however, they were not that fresh and came out cold. The fish from the fish and chips meal was the worst fish I have ever had. It was so hard I couldn't even cut it! We will not be going back!

"Hi! Welcome to Roger Brown's! Can I start you off with something to drink?" Is how I would have LOVED to be greeted. However, I was greeted with "What yall want to drink?" No hi, no how are ya doin. Ok fine. So we gave our drink orders. Water and a sprite. 10 minutes later we get our drinks. Can you tell how the rest of our night is going to go here? We ordered the bourbon street shrimp and two pork chop dinners. The bourbon street shrimp was an appetizer. 30 mins later, no waitress and no sign of an appetizer. Did I mention I am pregnant right now and I am feeling queasy hence why I ordered the appetizer so I could hurry up and get food in my stomach. No appetizer 30 mins later. Husband and I are pissed and tell another waitress to cancel our order and we just want to pay for our drinks. She grabs the manager. He seemed aloof to our complaints and other people had his attention anyways. I told him that i refused to pay for an order that i didnt receive and after 30 mins and counting quite feankly didnt want anymore. I dont go to restauranrs with the intention of spending a lifetime. If the kitchen was backed up, let your freakin customer know! I am writing this review to remind myself never in my life to waste time eating at Roger Brown's ever again and to let you know unless you are going there to watch a game, expect the slowest and crappiest customer service that I can day I have ever experienced at an establishment.

I have visited this restaurant many times, but this time by far was the best experience ever. I had the salmon dish and it was cooked to perfection!! Others in my party ordered: chicken & waffle, pork chops, seafood combination, pulled pork and the crabcake sandwich. Everyone enjoyed their meal thoroughly!!! Great job Roger Brown's!! Our waitress was attentive and the lovely breeze on the patio uplifted our dining experience the more!! We went on a Saturday afternoon (4:30 pm) and the crowd was light and the wait for our food was minimal! We will definitely come back sooner than later! Reasonable pricing, cleanliness and service from all was on point! Visited July 2013

Good for football but not what it was 3-4 years ago. Bartenders are so so. The menu has gotten tired. Often chicken is dry and rubbery. You will be handed a menu that is sticky with drinks spilled the night before. At night with a DJ and dance crowd it gets sketchy. Security at the door. It use to be about the best sports bar around.

Large selection of beers on tap or in the bottle. The food covers a large range of pallets & is consistently very good. I've tried nearly every item on the menu & have enjoyed them all! They have live music or a DJ a few different nights of the week, 20+ TV's & projectors for your sports viewing pleasure(NFL, NBA, MLB tv packages), large banquet rooms in the back can host bigger groups, outdoor seating is available as well as a separated dining room off the bar if you're not trying to catch a game. Memorabilia from Roger Brown's NFL career adorn the walls along with a mural behind the full service bar.

Roger Brown's is the place in Old Portsmouth to go watch a game. Big screen tv's line the back walls with speakers at each booth. They have private rooms for special occasions. The also offer outdoor seating and a full bar. They have interesting menu that everyone could find something that will love. The staff is professional and stay on top of things. The only draw back is that it has aged a bit and it needs some upkeep. Parking is limited on High Street so I recommend the FREE parking garage that is down the street turn left at the Va Sports Hall of Fame and it will be on the Right. Roger Browns has a back entrance through the alley if you are comfortable with that kind of thing. You still have to walk up front to be seated but you get in from weather faster if inclement. Enjoy all the great Sports Memorabilia! Roger Brown is an NFL Pro Bowler.

We decided to take the ferry from waterside in down town Norfolk to Portsmouth side. We ended up walking a few blocks and ended up at Roger browns by unfortunate default. The hostess left much to be desired. The waiter was polite and some what efficient. We were looking for a snack and drink type stop. We ordered the margarita pizza. The pizza took about 30 minutes to come out (incredibly long time for a seemingly empty restaurant and a pizza that consisted of cheese, basil and tomatoes) which came out cold. It was the nastiest pizza I had ever eaten (or not eaten). We were regretting every bite on the walk back to the ferry. This place may be good for a drunkenness good time around the bar but never while sober. Next time your around here, I recommend going hungry. (granted this review isn't really fair because we only ordered one item off of the menu. The overall atmosphere and people there really turned me off from feeling comfortable there. But others seem to love some items. To each their own.)

This sports bar, located in Downtown Portsmouth, has a classier feel than your average run-of-the-mill sports hangout. The inside has a rich look and feel, with dark wood, a really large bar, several large flat screen tvs around the bar and dining area, a spacious outside dining area, and a room toward the back with pool tables and other games. Another unique characteristic of Roger Brown's is the sports memorabilia that can be sign on the walls throughout the restaurant. The Owner of this restaurant is Roger Brown, a man who played professional football for such teams at the Detroit Lions and Los Angeles Rams. So there are lots of memories from his football career hanging around the dining area. Roger Brown's also has an impressive menu with a wide variety of things to choose, from burgers to shrimp and grits. I will say that a lot of the food on the menu has a very southern feel to it. Shrimp and Grits and Chicken and Waffles are just two southern-type items that come to mind. I can pick something different off of the menu every single time I go in and haven't been disappointed yet.

I actually love the ambience of this bar. Every time I have eaten here the food has been awesome, with big portions. I especially love the Cobb Salad. My husband is a fan of the ribs and mac and cheese. The drinks are kinda pricey, but I guess you are paying for the nice clean interior and atmosphere.

Roger Brown's is a really cool local place located in Downtown Portsmouth. This is the kind of place where every time you go you can pick something different to order off of the menu. I actually have a hard time picking out dinner when I go because everything on the menu sounds delicious. I've had the burrito before (it's huge) and I've had the cheeseburger which is always a great standby, it's big and tasty. They also have some great Southern favorites like friend chicken, chicken and waffles, and shrimp and grits. All the food is great; and it always comes out in a timely manner. The servers are nice and they know the menu so re recommendations are never a problem. They have a good selection of beer, draft, domestic, import, mixed drinks and wine. The bar is large with plenty of seating. There are huge TVs in the different rooms for any sport games that are on. All in all this is an awesome place to have a great meal.

Not sure about the bad reviews. Had dinner here once with a group of 6. Awesome service, huge beers, and absolutely delicious food. The menu itself is awesome.. There is a ton of options and I honestly could have ordered 10+ options. Definitely try them out.

This place is an enigma to me. The food is really hit or miss. Usually miss. I have been a few times asking for something I know they had the time before and it had been axed from the menu. Oh well. I have never been pleased here. Sorry.

"chicken have feathers!". This was the response from the manager when we sent back our chicken wings that still had about ten singed feathers on the wing. I guess they eat the feathers around these parts! Sent the wings back uneaten, didn't bring back a new order or even take it off the bill. Chicken and waffles were legit though. Too bad the attitude from the woman who was managing didn't have the guts to come out and tell us we should eat our chicken with feathers. Bathrooms were disgusting too, low class.

Most overrated sports bar ever. Save yourself some trouble and just avoid this place. The food and service continue to decline as prices go up. Staff has no incentive to give good service, since gratuity is automatically added (which is illegal by the way). Venture down to Country Favorites where the food and service are always on point.

There is much to like about Roger Brown's -- All of the sports channels you could want, with plenty of screens, and food that is a touch above. Housed in a former Woolworth's, it retains all of the charm of the exposed brick walls, combined with leather seating in the main room. Sit in one of the spacious booths, and you can select the sound from one of the four eight foot projection screens that line the back wall. Flat panel TVs surround the bar, with more choices. The back room features six pool tables. When the weather turns warm, sit outside and watch the street scene. The food matches the setting -- all of the sports bar faves, prepared to perfection. Our favorite is the wedge salad -- slice of iceberg lettuce, with a chunky blue cheese dressing, curmbled bacon, and tomatoes. We usually have it with a grilled marinated flank steak --- but it is all good here, from the steaks and seafood, to the burgers and nachos. Roger Brown's football career featured six appearances in the Pro Bowl -- the all star game for the NFL. His restaurant is an all star as well.

I ate here with my mom when I was staying out at the marina one weekend. It was nice and relaxing outside. I highly suggest the crab soup...at least I think it was Crab Bisque...could have been lobster?! It was the best freakin' soup I have ever had. The service was ok. I was thirsty and kept slurping down my diet coke. It took a while to get refills, but I didn't mind...the atmosphere was great! Nice place to people watch too. There was a nice crowd of people out there. Would highly recommend! Just don't drink too fast like I was doing...

My boyfriend and I went here on a weekday for dinner, and it was pretty empty. It has a good layout, and a lot to look at (tvs, sports memorabilia), so it seems like it'd be a pretty cool place to watch a game some Sunday night. We were seated in one of the big booths in back, in front of the four giant jumboscreens, and our waiter, who was very nice and attentive, answered a few questions we had about menu items. I went for his suggestion, the chicken and waffle (a house specialty), and was not let down. The chicken was fried perfectly, and the waffle was far from a frozen eggo; it was perfectly soft, fluffy and THICK. It was topped with maple syrup, powdered sugar, honey butter, and served with a side of baked cinnamon apples. The sweetness went with the salty chicken so well, and at $11, it was a finger lickin' good steal! My boyfriend had the backyard BBQ chicken with cole slaw and french fries. While it was good, we both agreed it was nothing to write home about. Roger Brown's has a big menu, and, based on our good experience, I want to go back and try everything on it! But... I'm afraid that will never happen, as I'll be lured in by the delicious chicken and waffle every time.

The only appeal of this place are the jumbo TV screens that are ideal for watching your favorite sports. Other than this, the food is bad and the service is mediocre.

While on vacation this restaurant was suggested to catch the local football game and eat some good food. Boy were we steered wrong. The service deserves zero stars, the only attentive person in the place was the very nice hostess. Let me start by saying that the bar and restaurant were not busy at all during our visit. We purchased a beer and a water at the bar area before we were seated. Once at our table the server came right over and asked if we needed drinks, which we did not because both were full. My friend and i chose to get the crap dip as an appetizer, BIG MISTAKE. The dip had NO flavor and was very watery. We received the app around 7:30pm, Our server did not come back over to our table until around 8:15pm, at this time he still did not ask our dinner order. Finally the server came over and asked if we needed more drink, we both ordered a water and another beer. The server walked past us about 7 times without our water or drinks before he showed back up at the table. Just as he was about to walk away we announced that we would like to order dinner. We probably should have just paid our bill and left at the point. I ordered the flat iron, a piece of meat that i have ordered many times and enjoyed. Well what came out was nothing like a flat iron, It looked like they took cheesteak meat and grilled it and threw it on my plate. All in All it was a horrible experience.

Not a huge selection on the menu but the food is great. The spicy Thai wings and the pizzas can't be beat. The service can be a bit slow depending on the server.
