The service is great, and the food is even better. Even though it is not a "kids' restaurant"- they are also very flexible and accommodating. I recommend the fries with the crab soup on top - delicious. Also, they had some of the best shrimp I have had in a long time.

I've been here three times now, and I am very impressed with the quality of their menu. The fish and chips are perfect. I finally had the oysters today, and they were delicious. (The cocktail sauce they make is great). The beer is ice cold too, (I know that may seem like a dumb thing to put in a review, but whatever, I noticed). Great, friendly staff and cool owners who are involved with every process. Good luck C.J.Finz! I'm glad we finally have a great seafood option in Manassas.

After seeing the delicious sounding menu online and the great reviews we finally got to try this place last night. We went here to have a few appetizers and drinks while watching the Caps game. This place is a gem and hands down my new favorite place. We had the fried pickles and the Crab Fries. They were amazing! Also I had an Orange Crush and for anyone who loves these there is now a place that makes them that isn't 3 hours away in Ocean City. It was delicious! The bartenders and staff were very friendly and provided top notch service. We will definitely be back. Can't wait to try everything on the menu!

Too noisy. Games on TV, loud music and everyone has to talk loud over it. Service spotty, wait staff too busy to keep up, don't think it was their fault. Alaskan Crab legs were delicious. Served with the tiniest tin of butter I've ever seen. I could have used a bib (new blouse) and was given just one napkin, sorta messy. The Shrimp and Grits were awful, the shrimp was tasteless except for the BBQ sauce on top...The grits were a thick glob of goo, way too much cheese. The Lobster Mac n Cheese which my friend ordered was not good, she did not finish it. BUT...those Alaskan Crab legs were amazing!! Order two beers at a time or your second beer will come with desert. We will return and give it another chance..

I really enjoyed the oyster poorboy. with the remoulade sauce, it was great! The draft beer selection was also very nice.

Yes, they have good food and a great location; OTM needed a fresh restaurant and this one fits the bill. Unfortunately, mediocre service and over-priced cocktails won't put this on the repeat map. Our "too busy socializing" waitress missed that our meals came out before our appetizer, poured water on me as she filled my water glass, blaming it on the pitcher's condensation (really? I was drenched). She poured water into my DH's entree refilling his. "More condensation?" I asked. Yeah, she missed that point. Overpriced drinks, crappy service, out of order food...no thanks. Bummer, too, I live three blocks away. Two strikes...there won't be a third at bat.

Nice atmosphere and interior. But more importantly, damn good seafood! Welcome addition to the City of Manassas! Happy we now have a spot like this close to home. Prices are fair as well.

I really like some things, mainly the crab legs and the oysters. The lobster roll was tasteless and lacked a salad like quality or at the very least, spice. The service is slow, but they are busy. Clams and mussels were salty. Mussels were very small, especially considering the price. Hope the kinks are just getting worked out.

  • Matthew E.

Good crab soup, a little on the salty side. The lobster roll was disappointing. It was all claw meat and just not up to par, nor worth 15 bucks. My wide had the grilled Caesar with shrimp and loved it. The staff were great!!! Very friendly. Next time I will try something different.

Meals can be hit or miss. Had the fish and chips. .way too much batter and not enough fish. Also had the crab cake sandwich which was good. Chincoteague oysters on half shell were good, could use horseradish.. Feel like the food could have more flavor. Cocktails were average for the price. Only seafood place in town...

A new welcome addition to old town Manassas. This place has some fanatics seafood. From raw oysters on the half shell, to lobster rolls, to ahi tuna tacos and mych much more. There special drinks... peach sangria was delicious. Great flavor. The spinach artichoke crab dip was to die for, especially with the added touch of fresh tortilla chips. Cant go wrong with shrimp and grits, oyster po boy, lobster roll or ahi tuna tacos. Don't forget dessert! This places dessert nachos were out of this world! The staff is very friendly and attentive. We were waited on right away and our food came out pretty quick. Our server also was able to recommend some great dishes which shows she knows her menu. The atmoshpher was fresh and bright. I would recommend you try and come early, this place can get pretty busy quick. If you are in the area you should make a stop for some great food, it is well worth it!

I'm always looking for good seafood---this place is awesome and sooo good ! They aren't stingy with the seafood servings. Service is absolutely awesome! And it's so chill :) I had the crab artichoke and spinach dip came with flour tortilla chips, lobster mac and cheese, and the bread pudding--Calli was awesome refilling my soda---

Newcomer to Old Town Manassas, focused on seafood, adjacent to Fosters Grille. This is a relatively small restaurant of which the bar occupies at least a third of the space. They were running a special appetizer "crab fries" which turned out to be french fries covered with crab soup, lump crab meat, and melted cheese. Sort of like chili cheese fries, but with crab. It worked and we enjoyed it. For the main course I got a special which was oven roasted monkfish with puttanesca sauce, potatoes and asparagus. The fish was fresh and perfectly cooked. The sauce was flavorful but not as aggressive as puttanesca sauce can be, so it went well with the fish. It was pureed. The potatoes had delicious crunchy texture and were very heavily seasoned and the asparagus was simply grilled. Yay for seasonal spring veggies. This meal was not heavy and really tasted like great home cooking. It is not pretentious and the prices are reasonable compared to other restaurants in the area. There is a nice craft beer selection and although we did not order cocktails, they appeared to have an impressive craft cocktail program at the bar. I'd eat here again.

My husband and I were in the area visiting family and had the best experience at this place! Our waitress, Stephanie, definitely made our night. She was fun, personable and gave us tons of good suggestions for what to order. We met the owner and he sat down and talked to us for at least 20 minutes. Very down-to-earth, genuinely nice guy. Drinks: all of the drinks we ordered were great. My favorites were probably the Blue Finz and water-melonball. I also had a key lime martini with dessert, which was like a dessert by itself! Appetizer: the crab fries are to die for! Entrees: I ordered the Lobster Roll and hubby got the shrimp and grits. Both were amazing, but the shrimp and grits was both of our favorites. Dessert: bread pudding--yummy!!! We had a great time at this place and wished we lived in the area!! We will definitely be back next time we visit!

Lunch today at one of the best seafood places around, with my son! Callie (waitress) came by our table, whom we would follow anywhere & will return for. We followed her here from her former employer in Centreville. Danielle was our server this visit & we have to say she was an outstanding wait person. Our Lunch today, we shared mussels, king crab legs, & shrimp tacos & topped it off with an oyster po'boy! The best ever. Can't wait to enjoy their new deck. We will be back!

We came here mainly to try the lobster roll. One of the 5 of us had the lobster roll, and the rest of us had different item on the menu. All of us agreed that our meals were absolutely delicious. More importantly the service is top notch. From being greeted at the door to during our entire meal. My kids are already planning the next trip here. I recommend this place 100%.

The husband and I went to CJ's to check out the new seafood restaurant in old town. First impressions, not bad. We ordered a full order of the oysters on the half shell (which were great), but we were short an oyster. When you pay over $18 for oysters, you expect to get an exact dozen. The husband ordered the fish and chips, again tasted great, but a bit pricey for cod and fries (cod is cheap and so are potatoes). As for my salmon, I wish I was able to order it medium rare, but I was told I could not, only medium well...so basically it was a bit overcooked to my liking. All in all, for the $60 we paid for dinner (we did not order alcoholic drinks), I think we'll skip it next time. I am hoping once they are more established they will look into their food costs and figure out that they are pricing their menu too high. Bottom line: good food, but pricey and not cooked to order. Keep in mind, the hubby is a CIA grad, professional chef, so we can be picker than most. I would have given it a 3, but the customer service was great so I give it a 4.

Went here the other week. Service was very good. The lobster roll was awesome as other recommended in fact I could have eaten two. I tried the Crab Fries. I must say very disappointing. It is crab soup with cheese and a very few bits of lump crab meat on top (like 3 or 4). I've had crab fries before where it was fries with crab dip(with lots of crab meat) loaded on top and lots of melted cheese. Hoping they change the receipe and get rid of this soup on top stuff. Hush puppies good but can't mess that up. Drink menu was very nice. I will be back again, even more if those crab fries become aweseome. Boyfriend got ahi tuna tacos said were good but felt they were missing something flavor wise but said was very clean and fresh. Dessert nachos are very interesting and good worth a try.

I cannot overstate how impressed we were with our late night to-go order from CJ Finz. We loved that they had the FULL menu until 1am, instead of a limited menu. When we got back to our room and unpacked the food, we couldn't believe how much there was and how delicious it looked! I'm not exaggerating here, our jaws dropped. There were over 20 big shrimp in our cold shrimp cocktail order. My lobster roll had huge chunks (whole claw pieces) falling off it. I couldn't even see the bread when I first opened the container. My boyfriend got rock fish and said it was delicious. On top of all this, the bar staff was very helpful and friendly. The music inside is loud, but this was at midnight on a Saturday night, so I don't fault them that. The prices were also really great, especially for the amount and quality of food. I can't say enough good things about this place!

It's opening day!! My girlfriend, mother, and I went for lunch to test out the new Old Town Manassas venue (right across from the Harris pavilion). I've been excited about CJ Finz since I first heard that my friend Chris was opening up his own restaurant. Needless to say, the level of anticipation was extremely high, as were my expectations. First things first: we walk through the door and were met with an exuberant crowd of people smiling, laughing, eating, drinking, and having a really great time. Despite the relatively small dining room, there were a good number of high and low tables, which, even though nearly every table was taken, didn't feel uncomfortably close together. The decor was light and inviting, with a touch of industrial (sheet metal accents and industrial piping housing the cool-looking brew taps). The nicely-appointed bar is a central focus, running down nearly the entire length of the left side of the room, with a specialty shelf that has color-changing LED lights shining up through the bottles (wasn't that bright during the day, but it's going to look awesome at night!!). After we took our seat, our server (I believe her name was Jacqueline, forgive me if I am wrong) was right there to take our drink order, and we also put in an order of the crab, spinach, artichoke dip. Drinks came out fast, and we then placed the rest of the order: a grilled calamari salad to share, and then my mother ordered the wedge salad, my girlfriend ordered the lobster roll, and I ordered the BBQ shrimp and grits. The wait time wasn't as long as I expected, considering this was their first lunch service and the place was packed. Next thing I know, I'm looking at this unbelievable-looking dip with cheese perfectly browned on top, accompanied by these puffed chip-like things that I had never seen. I put some dip on a chip and took a bite... Seriously, the best dip ever.. Turns out, the chip things were sliced up and deep-fried flour tortillas.. I could drown in this appetizer and die happy. We got the calamari salad with roasted red peppers, banana peppers, greens, and olive oil. The calamari was obviously fresh (this IS a seafood place) and cooked perfectly tender, and the banana peppers gave the salad a nice little bite to it. Yum! Then came the entrees! The wedge, of course, is a difficult salad to do poorly, and they had a really solid amount of bacon and tomatoes on it. I didn't get a bite, but my mom said it was really well done. My GF's lobster roll was a great sandwich (I stole a bite) and the lobster was really nicely dressed and tasted very light and vibrant. Also, those fries were absolutely brilliantly done (I stole some of those as well), and in my opinion, deserve some kind of specialty sauce (ketchup does no justice) to accompany them. Lastly, my shrimp and grits had me rolling my eyes in food-driven wonderment. Grits are, by nature, a very neutral flavor, yet with the seasoning and cheese, they were creamy and slightly savory (still a nice light flavor without being too heavy), and nestled into the grits were (4 or 5) 15/20 (size) shrimp, wrapped in bacon and topped with a smokey sweet barbecue sauce, fresh chives, and 'tobacco onions', which are floured and deep-fried green onions. The savory of the grits and bacon was really counterbalanced by the sweet BBQ, and the onions on top really sealed the deal for me. Despite being closed to bursting, I was unable to stop eating until my plate was empty. Fortunately, Jacqueline removed it before I embarrassed myself and my company by licking it. Originally, my plan was to try at least one thing from each category (though we didn't get to try anything from the raw bar menu), but saner heads prevailed, and we passed on dessert. This gives me an ideal excuse to go back, so I might try their dessert nachos. Yes, I said dessert nachos.. Not only was the food great, but I bumped into several OTM friends that I hadn't seen a while, which is always a plus! I have but one complaint, and that is that the opening of this restaurant only makes it significantly more likely that I will die very fat and poor.

Went there for the first time last night. Surprisingly, as a group of 9 ppl (adults and kids), we were able to get seated at 8:00 pm, on a Friday night. The family agreed that if we could vote 3.5 stars, we would have... But gave 4 instead. We were immediately greeted by someone, seated (split into two tables), and the waitress, Carly, immediately took drink orders. She was WONDERFUL! Very attentive throughout the dinner, even though it was very busy. Dinner came out promptly. We ordered a variety of things: fried pickles, crab fries, hush puppies, shrimp and grits, pork medallions, fish and chips, burger, steak sandwich... The atmosphere is laid back and casual. Great for families. Huge bar, great for drinks with friends. Food? We felt that it was okay... Some better than others. Definitely small portions for the price. (High prices for the food, which is most likely the reason why you don't see their prices listed on their website.) Overall, we liked the atmosphere and service. But the food was fairy heavily battered and overly fried (a moment longer and the batter would have been burnt). They could do a little more, even as simple as in the food presentation, to warrant the prices we paid.

Tried this place for the first time basically off of reviews and it's in my neighborhood. It's a lot more casual than I was thinking. It has a very small town friendly vibe. We were sat right away and several servers greeted us. Our waiter was super friendly and so were her coworkers. The manager was making his rounds and stopped to talk tattoos with us. I had the crab cake sandwich on a pretzel bun. It tastes exactly as it should, good! My friend had the rock fish topped with crabmeat and roasted potatoes. He enjoyed it! His only complaint was the portion size and the uncomfortable chairs. I will def go back!

This place is awesome! ! I don't write reviews but this place got something different. You got to try it to see it, feel it, and taste it your self to believe it. A little smaller for me but service and bartender makes up for it.

DELICIOUS!!! A wide assortment of incredible dishes and drinks! It's summer time and they have wonderful summer drinks available. It's as if the Outer Banks have come to MANASSAS! I recommend the Lobster roll, Crab Fries, and watermelonballer drink! My friend had the salmon BLT and it was HUGE! Very friendly staff and super fun environment. I've read some of the other reviews, Yes, they are busy.... Which is a good sign isn't it? Come for lunch instead of dinner Friday at 7, if you're worried about busy. YES, there are TVs on.. It's called entertainment. This is not Chesapeake Bay Seafood house, it is Better, and it is DELICIOUS. RUN, do not walk, to CJ Finz for a yummy meal!

Amazing Ambiance!!! With awesome service!!! I recognized the owner... He has been working in Restaurants in Old Town for 15 years! I will be back frequently!! The Lobster roll was great and the Kids burger tasted like it was right off a charcoal grill! Thanks CJ Finz!!!

We had a very mixed experience. On the one hand, the greeters / hostesses blew by us three times without even making eye contact. Odd. After a few minutes of being ignored, we turned around and walked out, but the manager saw us leaving and invited us back in. He seemed much more customer service oriented, if you know what I mean. After that, almost everything was great, if you don't mind being bumped by every person walking by in a too crowded space, and having to shout over all the noise of everyone else shouting over all the noise. (It has much more of a crowded bar atmosphere than a sit down restaurant atmosphere, but obviously, that is the owner's intent.). But on to the great stuff: Oysters on the half shell were great. Lobster Bisque was great. Fish Tacos were great. We've eaten a ton of great seafood in our day, and the oysters, bisque, and tacos were all super tasty. However.... The Mahi Mahi was rubber tough. (Chewing, chewing, chewing....still chewing....still chewing....Ughhh). Not sure if it had been badly over cooked, or maybe the victim of freezer burn or other similar issues, but it was right there at the edge of inedible. So again, a real mixed bag. The place had only been open for a week or two at the time, so we'll probably give it another try sometime. We'll see. Two and a half real stars, rounded up to three.

We split the oysters on the half shell and the lobster roll. Both were delicious. The oysters were especially outstanding. The service was top notch and friendly! Overall a bit pricey, but highly recommended!

Fun little restaurant and bar with great staff and atmosphere! Nice diverse crowd. My husband and I both had the lobster roll which was not only delicious but very reasonably priced! Fun place for happy hour and groups to gather and has an upstairs patio when the weather is nice! Great location in the heart of Manassas! Will definitely be back next time in town!

Located in old town Manassas, across the street from the ice rink and one door away from the train station. This is a place for hard asses as there are no cushions on any of the seats and the longer you sit the harder it gets. My wife and I tried the spinach crab dip which was very good and both of us ordered the fish and chips. The fish and chips were very good, some of the best I've had. I would hurry back only my sitter needs to recover. Some of these places don't want you to get too comfortable so that you won't linger longer. It worked for me. I was going to order dessert if my sitter hadn't given out. The noise level was high with lots of hard surfaces to reflect the sound and loud music but not unbearable sound.

Great crowd, great bartenders, great service and excellent food. Start with the crab fries - worth every calorie! Nice assortment of beers on tap and liked the raspberry lemonade cocktail. Ahi tuna tacos were great, everything was so fresh. Shrimp and grits - with bacon wrapped shrimp - were good and worth coming back for.

Went here on Memorial Day weekend and it was really good. We sat at the bar and the bartender was very attentive. Don't know his name, he was bearded and tattooed. He took good care of us for a short visit. We had a couple of beers and ordered steamed spice shrimp. Beer was cold and the shrimp were great, spiced just right. I'll be attending this place regularly.

Not sure what the hype is about. $9 for terrible house wine by the glass. $12 for six oysters. Bright lights, not great ambience. However great service. Will probably not go back

This is my 3rd stop here and I found it to be great stop after a long day at work. The atmosphere is casual and they've got a mix of small local, craft & other beers on tap. They also offer wine along with a fully stocked bar. The staff are great and have always greated me with a warm smile and a "welcome." What I find great here is their menu offerings of everything from yummy raw oysters to decent size lobster rolls to rib-eye for the meat eater. Overall, this is just a great place to meet with friends, grab a beer, sandwich maybe a little more and enjoy.

Delicious, delicious, delicious! Me and my wife went on St. Paddy's Day. I had the salmon and she had the oyster po boy, we shared the beef tips appetizer and the bread pudding. Every thing was greaaaaaaat! Best salmon I've had in a while 1st class! We sat at the bar the two bartenders Jason and the "red haired dude" (Albert) sorry I can't remember your name were very helpful and attentive even with a full house! We'll be back with friends! A must and a new gem for old town! Scott thank for the St Patrick's Day shirt!

I've been here a few times. The service is always good, the owners are always nice and talkative. It's great having a place close to get crab legs and other raw bar items that this area was lacking in. I just wish this place was bigger, not enough seats and it's always packed. Expect some delays for a table while drinking at the bar with friendly bartenders!

    (5)
  • Jill H.

The food is good. Prepare yourself for a wait. It's hard to find a seat and when you get sat it takes a while for the food to make it to the table. If your looking for a fun place to have a drink this is the place. Kind of on the pricey side for what you get on the food side. The shrimp and oysters are very tasty. Service is ok.

This place is simply amazing. The owner and staff are extremely nice and polite, I have already been here multiple times since they have opened and each time it has been great . I recently took my girlfriend here and we tried a few menu items and had come cocktails as well. Everything was cooked to perfection and the drinks were great and reasonably priced. The atmosphere is very modern and clean and the food is as fresh as you can get. They are having an outdoor deck installed which I am sure I will be spending lots of time on this summer after work. Overall great place which I highly recommend!

Very good food. Stopped by for lunch. The Ahi Tuna salad I had was excellent. The tuna was seared just right, the salad was crisp and the vinaigrette was tasty. I am ready to go back and try something else on the menu. One of my companions had the Fried Oyster po' boy and she raved about it. Loved the ciabatta roll it was served on. My other companion had the Fish and Chips, which he thought was really pretty good. Both loved the cole slaw, very light on the mayo, big on taste and crunch. It is a small place, looked like a full bar, and several draft beers on tap. About 5 TV's around the place tuned into the games. Seemed like a good place to hang out after dinner or on a weekend afternoon as well as having lunch or dinner there.

Holy Deliciousness. We had raw oysters, followed by tuna tacos, then a Salmon BLT. All were amazing but I will be back for the Salmon BLT. SOOOOOO good - you must try it! Nice atmosphere, good prices, super friendly staff!

Be sure to come to CJ Finz for some delicious seafood, great service, and an all-around good time. The ahi tuna tacos are amazing and the mahi mahi is second to none! And the lobster roll, well, let's just say there's no filler in this. It's all lobster! Wow, just fantastic! Bianca took excellent care of us, seeing that our glasses were never empty and our tastebuds were happy and stomachs stuffed full! Lest I forget, the oysters on the half shell are the Chesapeake Bay's finest and the clams with the white wine and herbs are outstanding! Jon and Chris have themselves a winner with CJ Finz!

Went on Saturday night for dinner. Arrived about 5:45 and the place was already packed. From the street I could see that people were crowded around the door and I thought for a second that we'd have to find somewhere else to eat. There's very little waiting room so this is pretty normal. In fact the dining area itself is very small, it use to be a subway after all. They have a bar that stretches the length of the restaurant that has a nice variety of brews. While we were waiting, Chris, stopped by to chat and update us on our table. We were soon sat at the table right next to the door which wasnt ideal as the weather was pretty chilly and the waiting crowd was almost on top of us. We knew before coming that we wanted some oysters, they had Chincoteagues. We ordered a dozen for a starter. They were big and most of them were perfectly shucked. My kid wanted shrimp but surprisingly the didnt have a seafood option for kids. Our server suggested that they could "figure something out" and got us a kids portion of shrimp with fries for 8.99. It came with 8 good sized shrimp, and we got them cocktail style over fried. She ate every last morsel and ignored the fries until after the shrimp were gone. I settled on the shrimp with grits and my wife has the steamed clams. She compared the clams to the mussels Josephine from Bonefish, which is very high praise. I really loved my dish. Each shrimp was bacon wrapped and bushed with bbq sauce, I've never had shrimp and grits like that but it was really tasty. And the grits were the prefect consistency. Other than the amount of seating the only other thing that wasnt 100% perfect was that our oysters held up the meal. Our server said that 7 dozen oysters had been ordered and that they were behind. I know it's a lot of work but they need to get faster. Will return to try fish and chips, tuna tacos, and lobster roll... oh hell the whole menu.

Wanted to see the new digs, and went in one evening after work - from across the street. There is no sign at the front to indicate whether you will be seated, or to seat yourself, so you stand there looking like a mother searching for a lost child. We sat ourselves after a waitress, as well as another waiter walked past us, like we weren't there. After waiting for about 5 minutes, my friend got up to grab some menus, and a waitress showed up at our table, asking what she could get us to drink. When my friend inquired as to what or if there were any happy hour specials, the waitress, spewed them off like she was tired of saying the same thing over and over again, and seemed impatient for my friend to make a choice as to which beer to select. (Oh, and the other reviews are correct - it is very loud/noisy in there - you can't hear each other talking and you are constantly being bumped by other patrons and waiters. The cocktails are very weak, also.) I went to the restroom and I must say, it is very tastefully done and the color scheme and tile work is beautiful. When I returned to the table, my friend told me to look over to notice that the owner coming out from the kitchen, was a former bartender we've seen over the years, working at various bars, and we thought: Well, good for him! Must be a great feeling now to be a competitor of all his former bosses! :o) Ordered raw oysters - fresh and delicious. Ordered fish and chips -- Uuhhh... We like raw oysters, as well as enjoy raw fish at a sushi bar, but not raw fish and chips. It seemed as if the fish was fried in oil that was way too hot, which nearly burned the batter on the outside of the fish, but leaving the inside partially RAW. Not under cooked - RAW. My friend didn't want to say anything about it, because we overheard another customer talking to their waitress about the same, exact issue, and having another order come out the same way at the second go-around. The Owner came out and apologized, saying he would take it off their check, like he was doing them a favor -- of COURSE a manager would take it off the check if it were inedible! We then saw the owner talking to another group of people at another table, who also ordered the fish and chips. He asked them what they thought of it, they said it was great and he literally sat there and told them about the prior customer having issues with it, like they were bitching for no reason - as if they were crazy or something! OMG. How unprofessional! We couldn't believe our ears! He didn't even mention to them that the problem the other customer had was the fish was partially raw! What kind of manager/owner behaves that way? We looked at each other in disbelief, asked for the check and left. We are afraid to go back, because what if we have a problem with our order? Who do we tell if we can't tell the manager/owner?

This is our second visit and this time I ordered the crab cakes. They were FANTASTIC!!! Not much filler used if any. Big pieces of lump crab in the cakes. just wonderful. We will be back a 3rd time and very soon!! This time we had a different server and she was great.

Happy to have a unique seafood style restaurant in the area. I went during the week for lunch. No wait, small crowd. Good service and friendly staff. I order the yum yum salad and ahi tuna tacos; both were good. Then for dessert, I had the bread pudding, great too. Definitely want to come back to try more of the menu so I can get a better feel for the place.

A group of us (6 adults) ate at CJ's for the first time recently. The service was very good and staff were friendly and personable. All of us were pleased with the dishes we ordered. The crabcakes were very good with just the right amount of filler. Fried pickles were a hit with a spicy remoulade. Cocktails were yummy as well. Nice to have good seafood in Old Town and we will return.

Had a great dinner experience at CJ Finz! Quality food and friendly service. Fried pickles to die for! Be warned though...you have to seat yourself and that isn't very clear. Once you weed through that and find a table, it's well worth it.

Ok, Manasshole just blew away 99% of what DC has to offer food-wise. Quality oysters, lobster roll, ahi tuna tacos at a fraction of the cost of the city. No wait, nice locals, new place decent staff. I'll be back!

Drinks were very good. Oysters on 1/2 shell were tasty. They would have gotten 4 stars except we had to inform the waitress of what was supposed to be served. We ordered the port with an apple glaze and lobster with borsin cheese sauce. Pork was to be served with asparagus and whip potatoes. The pork was served with mixed veg. We inquired and was then told they were out of asparagus which is something that should have been disclosed before service. We then had to ask for the potatoes. They were served plain in a side dish. Could have had a better presentation. The mac and cheese was tasty, could have been better with more of borsin flavor. Ordered the crème brulee. They were out.

The food is great! I had the blackened Mahi the first time I went and yesterday at lunch had the Fish and Chips, which were light as air. Lunch on the deck was perfect, great service and great food. When I went a few weeks ago at dinner there was a party of loud drunks ruining the experience, but that's not the fault of the restaurant. Lunch was nicer though.

Went here for lunch for the first time today. Service was excellent (friendly and fast). I got the Yum-Yum Skewers and my friend got the Fish and Chips. Both were fantastic. I will definitely return. Great addition to Old Town. My one wish would be for some lunch specials to be added. The prices on most items on the menu are pretty steep for a quick work lunch.

Went back for the Mother's day brunch (which my spouse said would be amazing) and it was! We ate at the top porch and our server was fast and efficient. The food was great too- loved the crab with eggs and English muffin. Also, the bloody Mary's were great! Big improvement.

My husband and I ate at C . J. Finz on Saturday, February 28, 2015. Both the food and the service was outstanding, even though they were packed. We arrived about 6:35 pm and had a short wait (about 15 minutes). We shared a table for 6 with 3 other people, who were delightful. They have a wonderful menu with a wide variety of dishes that appeal to many. Though we usually get entrees when eating out, we opted for a variety of smaller items so we could better sample the menu. My husband had steamed shrimp and and order of beef tips. The shrimp were large and perfectly cooked. The beef tips were so tender and cooked perfectly cooked to medium well, as ordered. I had stuffed mushrooms and She Crab Soup. Again, my dishes were perfect as well. We each had 2 Blue Moon beers, which were ice cold and served in frosted glasses. We topped off our visit with a slice of Flourless Chocolate Torte. Yum-yum! Our server, Albert, was extremely busy but very attentive. Finz will definitely be on our list of places to eat on a regular basis.

Great, local atmosphere. My husband and I shared the fish tacos and the lobster mac & cheese. Both were tasty, but I especially enjoyed the mac & cheese. The staff and owners were all very personable. We'll be back.

Came here last night and we are sooo glad we did! The food was awesome!! We started our meals out with the oysters and stuffed mushrooms and both were excellent. After our appetizers, we ordered the lobster roll and salmon blt sandwich. Both were great but that lobster roll was amazingly good and perfectly portioned. My fiancé and I can easily see ourselves becoming regulars here just for the food itself, but overall the place is great, it's new, and they are adding an outside dining area that I'm excited to check out once renovations are complete.

Three of us dined here yesterday and had a wonderful experience. The place is small, so we had to wait about 20 minutes for a table. No problem -- we passed the time with cocktails. When we were seated, our server was prompt and attentive, and the food was great. We started with crab fries which were rich and decadent, but like the other plates at CJ Finz, was not a huge portion. That's not a criticism -- it was a perfectly appropriate portion, but would've left three hungry guys wanting for more. For us moderately hungry women, we polished it off with no problem, but there was no way there would be leftovers to take home. I then had the lobster mac 'n cheese which was insanely decadent, one friend had a stuffed fish special that was apparently fantastic, and the other had a wonderful mussels appetizer with a caprese salad. The salad was the only non-loved item; the balsamic dressing overpowered the taste of the mozzarella so much that it was not clear that the mozzarella was even mozzarella. We finished off the night with an amazing flourless chocolate torte that was rich and fudgey, and a bread pudding that I didn't try, but I was told it was excellent. Overall, we all loved it, and I'm going back tomorrow!

My wife and I went there for the first time. Some really friendly people. We both had seafood...stuffed rockfish with crab and grilled salmon. Both awesome. On the way out met the owner Chris, equally friendly and has been in the restaurant business for quite a while. He knows what people like and is catering to them . One of our new haunts.

The Oysters were super gritty -- not cleaned well at all. The Jambalaya tasted ok but the rice it was served on top of was mush. Gross.

The food at this restaurant can be summarized in one word... Yummmmmm! My family and I went there for a quick lunch today are were treated to a wonderful meal, friendly staff, and even got to meat the C of CJ (Chris). The food came out piping hot, crisp, and well seasoned. We had three kids in tow (two under the age of two) and the wait staff was very accommodating. The next time we are visiting Manassas, we will make a point to stop by and grab a bit to eat!

I'm from out of town; the local Hampton Inn had them listed as a recommended restaurant. I sat down to watch the ballgame. They didn't have my beer on tap, so I made an adjustment; no big deal. The bartenders were friendly, helpful and attentive. I ordered the surf & turf; strip steak and crab cake, a house salad and oysters rockefeller. The appetizer and salad were good. The crab cake was very good. It all crashed and burned with the strip steak. The steak was both as thick and as tender as my belt!! It was so thin it would be impossible to cook it medium rare. If I held it up to the light, I bet I could see through it! Surf & turf for $24.95, after two beers, the bill came to $53.00 I left and went to the Friday's next to the hotel and realized I can't eat that crap either. I think it's the first night I can remember I went to bed hungry. I would have gotten more value at the Outback Steakhouse.

Came here for lunch. My friend ordered fried fish and he said it was "decent". But I will let him write his own review. I was not so lucky. I ordered the ahi tuna taco. Man, it was BAD in every aspects. It was not a well flavored dish at all. To add insult to injury, 1/2 way through I had to spit out a mouthful of food...the fish was not fresh and may be bad. It smelled SO fishy that I nearly threw up. Luckily I was able to spit it out before that happened. If you have to spit out your food, there is no chance in hell for a second try. Management!!! you can NOT serve unfresh/bad raw seafood. I still have a stomachache as I'm writing this review. I hope it doesn't turn out to be a full blown case of food poisoning.

Very good place. Great service and great food. I had the crab fries and crab stuffed rockfish and both were wonderful. All of the servers were very nice and attentive and offered great suggestions. Would definitely go again. Don't go for lunch because it's EXTREMELY filling and you will definitely be full lol. Have to go when you have nothing else to do afterwards lol.

This place was delicious and our server Carly was super nice too! Looking forward to coming back! We went there for lunch on Saturday 8/22/15 and got the fried pickles for our app and prime rib sandwich. The app was okay. The pickles were really thick cut but the sauce on the side was delicious and kind of spicy. The prime rib sandwich was AMAZINGLY DELICIOUS!!!!!!!! So so so so good!!!!! I would recommend to everyone!!! My fiancé and I split the sandwich and app and it was perfect for the two of us. Their ranch isn't my cup of tea though. Too creamy/milky. (I prefer hidden valley)

This place is awesome! Food is great! Service is great! Atmosphere is great! Casual, but sophisticated at the same time. Seems like there are only professionals in here this evening...no matter - not stuffy at all. I will be back :) Ok, so I came back about 15 minutes later and had a lobster roll. Boom!!! Outstanding! Really like this place...looking forward to having more of the menu next time.

Had their food again at the Taste of Manassas and it was great. Everyone I know loves the place. I just think it was too crazy busy for me. They now own the Park Tap Room, which is less crowded than Old Town. So I am upping the review to give the credit they deserve for the food!!!!

Like this place because the owner comes around and checks in you and often seats you. Lots of beers on tap and speciality cocktails. He let me try the peach sangria which is good and a tad Seet if you are into that. I tried the spinach crab dip with homemade chips. No artificial fillers or fake cheese here. A tad bland but I didn't want super spicy. I order spiced shrimp and asked extra spice but needed more so had to dunk in side in old bay. One order was incorrect. Oyster platter came as oyster po boy so waitress took back and we had another within five minutes. Service was good except that mistake. Try it out!

I arrived for lunch around noon on a weekend. The bar was *packed* with people who must've been doing a bar crawl. I stood up front like an a-hole by myself for 8 minutes before I was even acknowledged. (Pro-tip: if it's seat yourself there should be a visible sign). When I was finally greeted I was told, by who I believe was an owner or manager, the 6 empty tables were reserved for a party starting at 2p. Like I said.... I got there at noon... I was offered a seat at the bar or at the window - but because I was waiting for friends I opted to stand and continue waiting. When they finally got there I was acknowledged by a server who said "sit wherever you'd like." Of course we questioned the reserved tables, to which they said "oh, well, as long as you're out by two it should be fine." Anyway, we sat at a hightop - the chairs were a little uncomfortable - short on the actual length of the seat and quite hard. My friends ordered half a dozen oysters (chincoteague) and a pound of spiced steamed shrimp. I sampled neither but they liked it. Said it was an interesting take on the shrimp (look at my pic and you'll see why), and that the oysters were good - not too salty at all. One friend remarked the only raw item they offered in the "raw bar" were the oysters lol For entrees, one ordered the po boy, one the fish tacos, and two the lobster roll. Everyone seemed satisfied with their order. The tacos said you could definitely taste the wasabi; also, his came with no side. For $15 or so they should throw in rice. The lobster roll, what I ordered, was stuffed to the brim with lobster. From what I've heard, lobster rolls are usually drenched in mayonnaise, but this one was not (which I was happy about). I think I just don't have a taste for lobster so I didn't finish the whole thing. I've only ever had it twice before (at other locations) and didn't like it either time. I don't know why I ordered it. I will probably come back and try the fried cod (saw a plate pass by and it looked amazing). I guess next time I'll just go ahead and seat myself though.

At last Old Town Manassas has it's own dedicated Seafood restaurant. In the space that was formerly the Subway next to Fosters Grille & the Train Station. Check out the menu with an exceptional selection of fresh seafood. Everything from fresh catch fish like salmon & mahi mahi to shrimp, oysters, mussels & clams as well as crab legs and lobster. I had a 1/2 dozen Chincoteague oysters which were great. I added a cup of she crab soup and the ahi tuna tacos. Excellent on both counts. Open & roomy, great bar selections & several large HD's & great draught beer taps. The first day was busy as you might expect, the owner, Chris was shaking hands and enjoying the packed crowd. He told me they expect to rotate their fresh catch seafood on a week to two week basis. They also have a raised deck which will be great this summer when the weather turns. If your looking for beverages and appetizers, it's a great place to hang out with friends and relax in a very casual environment.

Really tasty food in a casual sports-bar style atmosphere. Came here with my parents after reading some of the numerous yelp reviews and was not disappointed. We shared the spiced shrimp and raw oysters to start. The shrimp were large and cooked to perfection. The oysters were fresh and delicious. My only qualm was that the oysters could have been more thoroughly cleansed to remove loose shell pieces. I ordered the lobster roll and was delighted by the large pieces of lobster tail, nicely blended with spices and sauce. The only downside to this visit was the not so great service. The waitress may have been new to the service industry in general so the timing of things could have been better. Other than that, very pleasant. Must come back to try the many great beers on tap and some of the cocktails on the menu.

This place is nestled right next to the Amtrak Station in Old Town Manassas. A nice contemporary surf and turf restaurant complete with a full bar and a very attentive staff, I don't know how many times I was told that I could sit anywhere before the table we picked out was ready to go. Everyone including the General Manager made sure everything was running smoothly. I tried the Lobster Mac and Cheese, with features a side of grilled squash and zucchini on the side and it was fantastic. Probably the best lobster to macaroni ratio that I've ever had. Even the Oktoberfest on tap was on point, and prices for everything were decent! There are plenty of cocktail and beer choices, should you want to experience both mainstream and local beers. If you need a great place away from the busy downtown Manassas traffic and don't mind an occasional train, this place is for you. I definitely plan on dining here again soon. I thank the staff for being consistent, and providing exceptional service. You have my vote.

Wonderful that there is a restaurant in Manassas that does seafood and does it well. They respect the food. The atmosphere is casual and the wait staff attentive. The ahi tacos are wonderful. The tuna lightly seared. The oysters were great. We'll be back for certain

Overall, pretty good! Dishes we ordered were delicious and super friendly server! Crab fries, so flavorful, finger licking good! I would definitely come back and try out other dishes! I'm giving 4 stars though because server forgot to tell me that hush puppies were extra charge of $8 when I asked her to substitute my fries instead. But other than that, service was great and food was good!

You immediately get the sense they take pride in what they put on your plate/in your glass. Some of the best, freshest crab legs I've ever had. Nice selection of custom cocktails. Has an upper level, outdoor patio. Friendly servers, so far. Seating/layout could be a little cozier\roomier. Perfect spot for summer mos.

EVERYTHING here is delicious! The crab stuffed mushrooms and lobster roll are so full of meat, it's ridiculous! The crab legs are always done perfectly and are generously portioned. I've always received excellent, fast service whether I sat at the bar or a table. If you're in Manassas, this is a must eat!

There's been a few recent additions to the Old Town Manassas dining scene, and the one that perhaps fills the largest void is CJ Finz. Old Town has a strong selection of both American and European-inspired casual and fine dining, plus Cajun, BBQ, Thai and Mexican. But there hasn't been a real seafood restaurant in Old Town, whether it be upscale or a casual raw bar. So does CJ Finz fill the void? As a raw bar and casual seafood restaurant, yes, the do a pretty good job of filling the void. The main reason that I went to CJ Finz was to not only check out the food, but see if they would be a suitable destination for watching a game and drinking craft brews. I went during the opening rounds of the NCAA Tournament, arrived a little before 1PM, and planned to stay through the afternoon to watch the UVa. game. They have a couple of nice TVs behind the bar, but the craft beer selection is a bit of a disappointment. They offer a few local brews (OBH, DC Brau) but the selection is limited and is mixed with a larger selection of big name domestics and imports. It's an OK selection if you are just looking for a good brew to have with dinner, but I wouldn't come here for just beer, or to watch a game and drink beer. Therefore, I decided to hang out at CJ Finz and order food while watching the first game, and head over to Monza for the U.Va, game later in the afternoon. The trip to CJ Finz was not a lost cause, however. Not by a long shot. The food here is pretty good. I started with the She Crab Soup, I would call more of a Cream of Crab soup. There wasn't enough roe in it to give it a real She-Crab Soup color or flavor. It's a bit of a failure as a She-Crab Soup, but it is a really tasty cream of crab soup. I also broke one of my dining rules and ordered oysters - my parents have been running an oyster house since I was born, I can get them a lot cheaper! But I wanted a sandwich - all of the ones I saw coming from the kitchen looked awesome - and the oyster Po Boy was calling my name. This was definitely a more refined Po Boy - the plump, perfectly fried oysters were served on a lovely ciabatta roll rather than stuffed into a sub roll or baguette. I'd order it again, but the Ahi Tuna Tacos that came out of the kitchen looked so insanely good that I did have a bit of buyers remorse. The bar had a few tricks up their sleeve as well. My bartender/server (who was excellent) was quite proud of their food and product quality, and introduced me to their craft cocktails, with all house-made ingredients. The Peach Jalepeno Mojito - made with muddled mint and jalepeno and and peach-flavored whiskey - was awesome. CJ Finz might not be a beer drinking spot for this beer nerd, but I'd certainly come back for another craft cocktail. Overall I was very pleased with my first trip to CJ Finz and look forward to coming back with the family and/or wife. They are a welcome addition to Old Town, and certainly better than the former occupants of the location.

This was our first time to the restaurant. We were quickly greeted and seated. We ordered an appetizer of steamed clams. They were extremely salty. The owner brought a new serving of clams without the broth and they were still salty. While they weren't what we wanted, the attention from the owner was great, especially since the restaurant was packed. On a good note, we totally enjoyed our sandwiches. I had an oyster po boy and my husband had the lobster roll. These sandwiches came with fries that were hot and tasty. I look fowsrd to going back and trying out their other dishes.

Alright, I know what you're thinking- a seafood place in Old Town Manassas that isn't terrible... wat? But here we are. CJ Finz is operated by a young, clever, hotshot manager (my deduction is this anyway...) and it shows. They're making all the right moves. What you're really getting with CJ Finz is hip in a town that sorely needs it. Raw Bars are known for their cool buzz and this place has it, a diamond in the rough among yuppie psuedo-chic bars and wannabe-hip taquerias and creole restaurants (which shall remain nameless...) that can't get the quality of their food up to par. So how is the food? Great presentations give you that sense of occasion, the tastes and flavors are right and the quality seems fresh. It's a little expensive for a small place in Manassas, but considering what you're getting, I'd call it a bargain. With the perfect location next to the pavilion it's the place you want to be after a concert or local, company sponsored event. Bring the kids, have some fried oysters, a lobster roll or a burger. Or better still, and where CJ's really shines-- hop off the VRE from your commute home from a hard day working in D.C. on a Friday night and have a drink, maybe even meet someone cool. CJ's has that, and that's something special in Manassas.

A seafood restaurant in Manassas?!?! Wtf??? But......the food was awesome! We got the crab fries, mahi and crab legs. All three were prepared so well, came out timely and tastes great! Our waitress was great too! Made sure we had our drinks, that our food was to our liking and answered all of our questions. This was our first time here.....and we will be back again and again. Five stars!!!!!!

A nice new restaurant for the area!! Does get busy later in the evening/night and there is not a lot of seating. However, the food is amazing! I often get the shrimp cocktail or raw oysters for appetizer and they never disappoint. They have a good variety of entrees as well! And for dessert, you can't go wrong with the nachos. We have also always had quick service and attentive staff! The pricing can get steep, but that is expected for the food type and quality you are receiving. Would recommend a visit to Finz to anyone!

A very unpretentious seafood house. A Great appetizer are the muscles. The sandwich I would recommend is the oyster Po boy. The crab legs are always perfect. And never forget to order the bread pudding! Chris the owner, is always personable & greets you many times during the meal. If you're lucky enough to get Callie as your waitress, you'll be made in the shade. This place focuses on the food & it shows. Don't be discouraged by their lack of Hostess, just grab the first table that becomes available. (Enjoy a Dogfish Head 60min IPA, if you need to kill time waiting) Enjoy! This place reminds me of a joint you would find at the end of a dock, where all the fishermen go after a long day on the water, to enjoy a cold beer & their fresh catch.
