I'm just going to say that EVERYTHING HERE IS AWESOME. We found the restaurant through Yelp and I must say that I am highly impressed. The drinks were perfectly mixed, the food tasted very fresh and delicious. The peach cobbler was made on the spot by the owner. I'm definitely returning soon! Thank you Market Table Bistro.

First timer so we were excited about a new chef that will be coming to Leesburg next year. Started with lentil hummus. The smoked paprika and olive oil was tasty. The hummus was good obviously made in house. Tried both daily soups. Mushroom bisque and a gazpacho. Both excellent!! Had the pasta with mushrooms, creamy and rich and oh so filling. Also had the bbq pork sandwich. Pork was excellent nice smoke ring wonderful flavor and worked well with the pickled onions and fennel Wine prices were great, not your normal 3 to 6 times markup. Nice bottle of linden claret for only 44 ( I think) Cocktails?? Well I only tried the Lovettesville iced tea. Everything except the lemon wedge was locally sourced and it was very good. Loved the hint of honey and mint. Can't wait to come back for dinner and a show. Sit inside and watch the chefs at work

I've been here 4 times, all but 1 were dinner (lunch was w/a client and perfect ambiance for a discussion without racing against the clock). Each time you go back to a destination restaurant like this one, I believe the bar is high and it's almost inevitable that there is disappointment. Nothing could be farther from the truth at this little gem. Every meal I've had here has been such a creative masterpiece and plated beautifully. I have found myself looking down the menu (again) to relive my last experience with the same dish. With that intentional omission it has forced me to try something new, and naturally never disappoints. Recently I had their seasonal fish selection. It was exceptional and the lady at the next table ordered it after listening to me rave about it...(oddly enough her husband also ordered the steak that my husband had & loved!). We had starter salads which I could eat all day - everyday and they are simple, not complicated and gorgeously delicious. Finally we finished with a seasonal strawberry dessert that was fresh and beautiful, offered as a sampler which was prepared multiple ways with/out chocolate. We were full from dinner when our waitress served us, and there wasn't a morsel left on the plate when she took it away. Thank you for your refreshing culinary perspective Chef! We are believers!

Love love the Liver & Onions. It's gotten to the point they know what I'm gonna order when I walk in the door. Service is always on point.

Casual dining. Fine dining. Date night. Out with the family and kids. This place is perfect for it all. And the ever changing menu will have something to appeal to even the pickiest of eaters. Very extensive wine list and amazing food that focuses on fresh, local ingredients. Pricing here is phenomenal considering the quality of food, attentiveness of service, and overall value for what you get. I would highly recommend this place to anyone who is a "foodie". Chef and wait staff do an absolutely wonderful job. Keep up the good work!

A friend was having her birthday here and we had a pretty big group - about 15 people. The restaurant itself isn't large and they did a great job accommodating us. There is a very small parking lot in the back and thankfully, the bank behind it was closed, because some of us needed to park there due to the lot being filled. The servers were on it. They catered to our every need and we really didn't have to ask for anything. The drinks are delicious. I had the Chef's Lemonade, which came in a cute mason jar and was so good that I had a couple of them. Someone else ordered the sangria, which also looked really delicious, and I will have to go back to try it. The food was amazing. We shared some appetizers and cheese plates. Some people ordered the mac and cheese as a first course and it looked really yummy. I didn't order one, but definitely should have. For the main course, I ordered the chicken pot pie and it came in a cute little cast iron pot. My meal also came with a small salad that had a light dressing, which was perfect. Some people ordered the mushroom risotto and others ordered the pork jowl carbonara. For dessert, I ordered the s'mores and let me tell you, this was my favorite part of my meal. The server brought it out on this piece of wood and the s'mores was covered with a glass container that was filled with smoke. When the server pulled off the glass container, the smoke dissipated and the s'more was revealed. It was probably one of the coolest things that I have seen in a restaurant. This was a really good choice for my friend's birthday dinner. Since we don't live in the immediate area, I would never have thought to come here, but I am so glad that we did. I definitely want to go back, even if it is just for the drinks!

What an astonishing local offering. Located in the unassuming town of Lovettsville, this hidden gem represents the aspirations of an amazing group of cooks. Though spendy, this spot is so worth it.

The ridiculously good reviews baffle me. Perhaps I just came on an off day? Hushpuppies - weren't cooked all the way through, were still gooey with batter inside when cutting into them; they're also supposed to be "lobster" hushpuppies, but only two of them had any lobster inside (tiny bit). Salmon - so-so, but was a bit overcooked. Butcher's board - no cheese to break up all the salty/rich meats? Weird. The little loaf of bread was good. The meats were, well, strange... liverwurst? Who eats that? (The meats were not listed on the menu, unfortunately, I guess they probably vary.) And pork pate. Blech, if I wanted Spam or Treet I'd go get a can at Big Lots. The prosciutto and smoked duck breast were OK. The French press coffee was very, very good. And the service was amazing. The atmosphere was quaint, very classy and intimate. But there are zero sound absorbing factors, coupled with an open kitchen, which makes conversation more than difficult. Probably the most expensive lunch I've ever had and one of the least satisfying.

Very good imagination amd menu. Low on execution and plating. The lobster hush puppies were not cooked thru They were liquid inside of 2 but the others were great. Great concept! The lamb meatballs tho tiny and only 4 were delicious all thru. Needed more of the balls tho. The duck was gamey for me but my daughter and husband loved it. The pork belly was fabulous and tge oysters yummy but yhe grits were not grits but tasty creamed corn. The salted caramel Panna cotta was delightful even as a tiny portion. The campfire was too campfire smoky but great presentation and concept just not tasty. Stick to the panna cotta!!!! Great service! Great wine list. Overall terrific experience for being out in the country. Would return.

A solid three stars. For the amount of money I spent here, I thought I'd receive better food (and more of it!) PROS: Very pretty-looking food Friendly service Fancy paper towels in the bathroom (haha) CONS: Very small portions Very expensive Awkward outdoor seating next to parking lot Cheap outdoor seating furniture --------------------------- WHAT I GOT: First course: summer melon salad (without prosciutto, with feta) ($9) Main course: Stuffed peppers ($18) Main course: Fish special (~$28) Lovettsville Iced Tea, alcoholic ($10) Mint mojito ($10) Total (including tip) for two people: $95.00 WHAT I THOUGHT: The drinks were alright, nothing special. Our salad appetizer was very very pretty but had such small pieces! Not fun to eat. Our main courses were better than the appetizer. My dad really had the rock fish special, and he liked it. He said the fish was very juicy and cooked perfectly. My dish of stuffed peppers was disappointing. First, it was the only vegetarian item on the menu, which is always annoying! Aren't there any vegetarians in western Virginia?! Let's add more veggie options to the menu! When I make stuffed peppers at home, I can usually eat three small peppers or two large peppers. My dish came out with two small peppers, and it just wasn't enough food to satisfy me. The rice was also a bit dry. The decor in this restaurant is not that nice. For the money you're spending at this place, you could go to a more fancier looking restaurant in northern Virginia. Also, I was bothered by the outdoor seating. The chairs and tables outside are cheap and kind of ugly, and you're sitting right next to their gravel parking lot! Definitely NOT a pretty view. This place is good, but not for the price they're putting on the menu. I say try it out and make your own judgements, but I have seen enough of this place.

Yum, yum. Locally sourced ingredients, expertly prepared, and elegantly served in historic Lovettsville! Who'd a thunk it. Perfect choice for a nice dinner out or a place to impress your date. Two thumbs way up!

My fiance and I stepped in for a quick brunch. I got the soup and sandwich (the best butternut squash soup I've ever tried and a brie and apple grilled cheese) and my fiance got the eggs benedict which he loved. Everyone was very friendly and I was impressed by how locally sourced food is (even the tea is from Lovettsville). We talked Rebecca a little bit to about catering (we are looking for a wedding caterer), and she seemed very nice and professional. Overall, this place is a real gem!

Went here for dinner really hoping for a 5, but it was just short unfortunately. More like a 4.75..Darn you help for your whole number rating! Started off with the butchers board and the lobster hush puppies. The hush puppies were the highlight of the meal. Absolutely delicious. The butchers board was pretty good. I can't remember everything they did, but it had a cured ham, chicken liver pate, and then a few other things as well as mustard and cracklins. I was hoping for some salumi type offerings, but it didn't really have any. I got the pork jowl carbonara. It was good, but a tad on the salty side. Not bad, but not the best carbonara I've had or even made..She got the monk fish, which was cooked pretty well. I thought it could have used a little more sauce to go with it. Looking back, I should have tried the filet. Also bummed that I didn't get to try the pork belly wraps, as those sounded pretty good. A very good spot that makes a decent attempt at fine/upscale dining. Close to being a 5! I'd love to go back when they change the menu for a new season to see the offerings. I also loved the cocktail I got (New fashioned). The first one was a tad on the weak side, but the second one was great. We ended with the sitting by the campfire desert. It was alright, but ultimately was the tie breaker for a 4 or a 5, and it just fell a little short for me. They bring it to your table encased in a dome filled with smoke. The lift the dome and waft the smoke towards you. Underneath is the grahm cracker with some chocolate custard and bruleed marshmallow. Personally, I just didn't really care for the grahm cracker which really brought it down a little for me. At the end of the day it was still a good meal, and definitely worth trying if you're in the area and looking for something upscale without driving into DC/fairfax or Frederick.

We went in for mother's day brunch we found it over priced and bland. Lobster bisque was the soup special, after ordering it I noticed it didn't really have any lobster. I asked the server and she explained there was no lobster in the lobster bisque. It should really be called cream soup. The Drinks Were Over Priced. The food was nothing special. The crab salad was good but again should have been 5 to 8 dollars less. They said good for kids but they didn't have fries or any kid food. We will not be returning and I can tell you the yelp reviews must be their friends and family. .

This is probably my favorite restaurant in Loudoun. Rebecca and Jason are fantastic hosts, and the food is always delicious!! I love it when we can get wild game there, and the execution is top notch. Desserts are not to be missed, and they often pull from local providers to make up their menu. Delicious and keepin' it local!! I love it! We go as often as we are able!

Very tasty. Nice ambience. The mother ship for Market Street Burgers in Purcellville. The menu is small but with enough variety for everyone. Reasonably priced. The tomato gazpacho was perfect for a warm summer morning and the bbq sandwich was tasty without an overpowering sauce. Highly recommend.

Amazing food and service where you least expect it! Five stars for the first course selections. We were a group of seven people and shared around four of their starters, which were all unbelievably delicious. I even enjoyed their deviled eggs, and I am usually not a deviled eggs kind of person. My favorite was probably the pork belly wraps, which are an incredible mix of flavors, but the Liver & Onions and the Chevré came very very close. The bread served alongside some of those was also a pleasant surprise (for American-style bread), actually having some inherent flavor and texture, and we were provided extra servings of bread, olive oil, and salt on request, which were also received quite well. Four stars for the entrée selections. For me, the main course didn't quite live up to the experience of the starters. The crab was unfortunately out, so I went with the Butcher's Sandwich -- a very complex taste experience, changing with pretty much every bite; not bad at all, but I thought less complexity (and less meat overall, I'm generally not a fan of those over-stuffed sandwiches) would have improved the dish. I didn't get to sample the other mains, though the Stroganoff and the Quiche seemed to be very much enjoyed by others in my group. Five-plus stars for the dessert and the coffee. We had one portion of "Sittin' by the Campfire" for the table to share (a bit more on how we came by that after already being stuffed with all the other food later). Simply put, wow. The dish -- experience may be the more appropriate word -- was the closest I've come in the past few years in terms of having something comparable to some of Noma's offerings. It's an exquisitely crafted dessert, simple in concept yet refined in execution. And that shows not only in the food item itself, but also in the way it is presented. Oh, and the coffee was a great local roast french-press. Five stars on the service. Our waiter was highly attentive, personable, and knowledgeable, and gave excellent suggestions (wine and starters). Moreover, he didn't so much as blink at custom requests such as the bread and olive oil, or at getting the starters in custom portion size matching our group (the deviled eggs). Two of our group enjoyed the Chevré so much, they asked if they could buy some of it to go, something that was also immediately looked into and ultimately made to happen. Finally, though we ended up declining desserts after so much food, he went ahead and presented our table with the aforementioned "Sittin' by the Campfire" (though I didn't see the bill, presumably on the house). While we didn't get as much interaction with them, the kitchen staff were also very welcoming. Basically located in the middle of nowhere, I wouldn't have expected to find such high standards. The food, the service, and also the ambiance -- tasteful decor, and a great open kitchen-type layout, this place pretty much has it all... at a highly affordable price point, no less!

As soon as you enter Market Table Bistro, you can tell that it's all about the food. The walls are relatively bare except for a few of Chef Jason's signature menus on the wall (including one from the Inn at Little Washington). In addition to the menus along the walls, you will notice his two acknowledgements from James Beard in the corner. Aside from the bookshelves lined with cooking books and the fireplace, the restaurant's decor is minimal. This all the more focuses the attention ON THE FOOD. We came on a slow night and I mentioned to our server that I wanted to "order everything on the menu." It was AMAZING. The level of service, the culinary knowledge of the staff, as well as the unpretentious "homey" vibe of the restaurant made you feel right at home. On several occasions Chef Jason came out of the kitchen and we were able to chat with him. My wife and I loved the "unpretentious elegance" of the food. Chef Jason is all about organic, locally sourced (within 30 miles) product. Everything on his plates is there for a reason, he doesn't add garnish or expensive ingredients to his dishes to "appear" impressive. Each one of our dishes sang because the ingredients were fresh, prepared with excellence, and the balance could not have been better. Even the minute details down the the knife work on the vegetables evidence the detail and perfect of standards that Jason has in his kitchen... speaking of which, it is even more impressive when you realize that his kitchen is smaller than some people's walkin closet! So, on to the food: Gruyere Cheese, Fig, & Walnut appetizer: The assertive flavors of the cheese were perfectly balanced the sweetness of the fig and the walnut & the tortilla gave a pleasant earthy blend of texture. The seasonal "journey": Radish & Parsnip "soup", a trio of beets, the butternut squash "cannoli" with a fried risotto ball, elevated "Grandma's Carrots" & dehydrated sweet potatoes - This was my wife's favorite course! The soup was so perfectly seasoned that you could taste each ingredient! My mouth waters as I think about this savory, buttery, delight! The beet puree was to die for- it almost tasted like a pumpkin pie sorbet! I loved the butternut "cannoli" in which they managed to caramelize a butternut squash tweel and then pipe in a delicious squash filling. Of course the fried Risotto ball was delicious! "Grandma's carrots" were where you were able to observe the perfect knife cuts and how the carrots were cooked to perfection, golden orange, slightly crunchy, a little sweet. amazing! Ok, so we took the plunge and tried the sweet bread "McNuggets" ... The presentation was so clever, in a little cardboard "nugget box." As this was the first time I tried sweetbreads I was very apprehensive. I FREAKING LOVED THEM! These were lightly battered and the flavor was delicious! They were not dry or stringy or chewy at all! The crispy skin on the Striped Bass was SO GOOD!! The fish was caught a few hours ago and never had seen a freezer. The meat was so moist ...I could have eaten this plate 5x over The seasonal Venison "deconstructed stew" was cooked to perfection! As a hunter, I'm familiar with many ways people try to cook deer meat. Most of the time the meat is dried out, and so tough. I don't know how Jason did it, but this was almost like eating a fillet. WE ATE VENISON WITH BUTTER KNIVES! The flavors were so well balanced, the "gamy" flavor of the meat was replaced by a perfect medley of fresh seasonal vegetables Pork done 2 ways, an INCREDIBLE pork loin and then Pork Belly on an apple Sauerkraut (my favorite!) with a apple cider cube & sweet potato shavings. This was my favorite course! The herb roasted pork tenderloin was the perfect temperature. It was succulent and so moist. The Pork Belly was some of the thickest that I've ever seen. It was really fun to to play around with the flavors and eat the Pork Belly with the apple sauerkraut as it made the pork taste sweeter! It was really cool :) The smoked mascarpone sommore & bourbon milkshake with ginger cake... Oh the dessert. First of all, the presentation was fun! The sommore was brought to our table under a smoked dome and when it was served, the flavors of the smoke surrounded our table. I loved how Jason used Mascarpone instead of the traditional marshmallow as it added a nice almost savory component to the dish. The Ginger cake was so moist and had a really nice spice, but I'll tell you that Bourbon milkshake... so perfectly smooth with the smallest hint of salt. Wow. it was amazing. After our meal we just chatted with Chef Jason for almost 10 minutes and were able to ask him about the meal as well as his vision for the restaurant. It was a unique experience to interact with a Chef of his caliber in such an almost casual manner. I was speaking to the staff later about it, and I was very impressed by the Chef's pleasant humility. He was very inviting and I can't wait to come back and introduce him to my family and fri

Came here for brunch after a long morning hike in Harper's Ferry and the food and service did not disappoint! Our waiter, will, was knowledgable, friendly and most definitely the best waiter I have ever had (he even brought me sunscreen when he noticed my shoulders were starting to get red! Talk about service!) I had the blackberry sangria and while I'm not much of a drinker I ordered two and would have had more if i wasn't driving. Will brought us out two complimentary appetizers; the deviled eggs and crab dip, both were delicious. For lunch I ordered the lamb burger special and ate the entire thing. I don't think I stopped to take a breath in between bites it was that good. I will definitely be back here again! Dinner next time! Oh and my bf had the beef tenderloin with homemade spaetzle and oh my lord was that amazing. Definitely a must have!

Cute little town and great food. We stopped in Sunday for brunch and were lucky enough to get a table right away, but I would call ahead next time. The place is not very big and can fill up fast. The staff here was great and they have lots of fresh made drinks and local wines on the menu. Everything looked so good, but I ordered the pot pie, which was amazing. It was even made from local chickens. I am not a huge pot pie fan to be honest, but I saw someone else order one and decided to give it a try, it was worth it. They had some great looking desserts, but I did not try any this time. I would love to go back for dinner soon though.

It's obvious that everyone working here enjoys food and pleasing customers. Our waiter was enthusiastic and knowledgeable. Today's specials sounded very tempting as did the normal menu items, making for a tough choice. Everything we ordered came out perfectly prepared and well presented. I love the fact that you can see food being prepared from your table. I also love some of the unique choices in both food and beverages. The portions were a good size, leaving me satisfied and giving my wife enough to take home for a snack later.

My wife and I stopped in for brunch this morning. We both had eggs Benedict and I've never had brunch this good - ever. Everything was Cooked to perfection. It was truly a five star experience that didn't break the bank. The portions left us full and satisfied, with our plates clean !

My husband and I went here for our anniversary dinner. we made reservations and told them we were celebrating our anniversary. When we got here, they had menus that said happy anniversary and champagne ready. Everything we ordered was divine. We started with the butchers plate, then had the butternut squash bisque and the chicken entree that came with creamy grits and kale. Everything was amazing. I am going to be craving that soup for months, it was literally "fall in a cup". The perfect amount of spice, butternut squash and cream...ah amazing. My husband had the bib salad and the mushroom ravioli. The salad was very yummy!! The ravioli was good, but just to keep in mind it's just 3 of them! Overall, this place is awesome and I will be back for more!!

This is actually one of the best meals I've had in a long while. We loved every single menu item and are thrilled that we drove out of our way to come here, I would strongly recommend it as one of the best restaurants I've visited. First off, this is a farm to table concept and it works. It works better than any other farm to table restaurant I've ever seen. The restaurant is situated off a two-lane road and has limited parking. Just something to keep in mind as you might need to park next door or down the street behind the restaurant. We got lucky and found a spot. The interior is pretty darned cool, with a giant fireplace and two big dining rooms. The kitchen is partially open in one dining room and I liked it. After we were seated, we ordered beer. They had a large variety, and we sampled two Oregon beers (I preferred the Green over the Yellow). We then got appetizers which included the #1 best chicken wings I've ever had. The wings had a smokey flavor that was so unique, along with peppers and other spices that I couldn't quite make out. The delicate flavor was just stunning. We got the wings on a whim, but they turned out to be simply amazing. We also got wasabi deviled eggs which were tasty as well, with just enough spice to get your attention but not overpower you. We then got appetizers, including mac and cheese for me. The mac and cheese was really good. However, I wasn't shocked by it... as I was with every other amazing ingredient in my entree. The mac and cheese was probably some of the best I've ever had at a restaurant, but it didn't have anything extra to maybe distinguish it. I did love its hard crusted top and creaming noodles. The entrees were catfish and pork belly. Wow, we were both shocked by how great these items were. We savored every delicious bite! The catfish tasted fresh, and the pork belly was expertly prepared atop a bed of some of the best grits I've ever had. Both my wife and I agreed that we were just stunned by how amazing the food was here. I would also comment that while we didn't have desert, there was a smores style desert that came underneath a glass cover which contained smoke. I don't know how they did it, but just about every table purchased one except for us. The smell that filled the room from the smoking smores only added to our experience. The only downside to the restaurant for us was maybe the service. Our waitress was phenomenal, but for some reason the management had her doing all sorts of side tasks which took away from her service. It didn't really matter much, but we noticed it. Why they couldn't have kept her tasked on service and not doing dishes, I don't know. But generally the flow of the service staff was acceptable and certainly not even close to being a reason to not come here. I'm just mentioning it because management could fix this and avoid problems in the future. For instance, on the night we were there, the restaurant was only about half full (I don't know why anyone would eat anywhere else around here, because that is a mistake) but had it been full, the servers would have been taxed much more heavily to do both service and dishes (or whatever they were doing behind the counter). Basically, you cannot go wrong by coming to this restaurant. If you are within 40 miles of it, drive here. It's worth it for a truly inspired meal. And frankly the prices were reasonable, too.

If you are tired of overpriced over-stuffed pretentious restaurants and you don't mind a trio to lovettsville, check out this wonderful farm to table restaurant. The menu always changes but never disappoints. Good wine list. Fine cocktails. Great desserts and fabulous service. Ask for Will to serve you. Pick anything and find out that fine food is found in lots of out of the way places.

Met with Rebecca and Jason today, to discuss wedding catering. After a delightful discussion about custom menus we got the royal treatment at brunch, tasting dishes put together by Jason. We left entirely too full and wanting more! I hope to come back here again and again and hope the expand to closer to the city. A can't miss in this town!

This little place is very deceiving from the outside. Don't judge this one until you actually dine here. The service here was good - friendly and accommodating staff that seems to enjoy their place of employment. This is always a plus and often a rarity. The menu for brunch was very well done and offers a wide variety. The specials were so enticing that I barely looked at the other things they had to offer. The parking is the only thing that is lacking but I can hardly hold that against this place considering they are in such a small little town. I will definitely be back again!

I found them online searching for best restaurant in Northern Virginia. I went on their website to review the menu and then decided to make an online reservation. I had a few questions about their brunch vs. lunch menu on Saturday so I decided to quickly call the restaurant. The guy who answered the phone was not friendly and in rush. When he answered my question on the brunch vs. lunch - I told him thanks, I will talk to my friends and make the reservation online. His response "No one is going to check your reservation because the computer is upstairs." Me: "Okaaayyyy -- What's the point of having online reservations if no one is checking it?" Him (Frustrated) and ignoring the question: "When do you wanna come in?" Me: "Today" Him (Even more frustrated): "WHAT TIME???" Me: "You know what, nevermind. This is horrible." _________ You be the judge. If this is how a potential customer(s) is treated before the visit, I am not sure how they treat people once you are there. I have absolutely no tolerance for people like him and certainly wouldn't want to spend my money there. First impression begins at "hello" -- and you have failed.

This restaurant is worth the drive if you don't live nearby. The chef does an outstanding job sourcing local and special ingredients. His preparations are amazing and the menu is continuously updated and never boring. The entire staff care about serving good food and ensuring you have a pleasant experience. For extra special fun, try the chef's table which is usually offered on Friday nights. Call Rebbecca soon for a reservation you wont disappointed!

We found this gem of a restaurant on yelp while driving through. What a great find! The most important part of this review is for the mussels!! Hands down, the best! We ordered The Prince Edward Island Mussels, served in a white wine, garlic and fresh herb sauce and served with toasted bread - BEST mussels we've had, and we order them often!! We shared the Classic Eggs Benedict for our meal. I have not had Eggs Benedict in years and cannot wait to go back for the exact same thing again. They have a seasonal menu and offer local ingredients! During our visit a gentleman was cutting a huge slab of something on a cutting surface which was pretty interesting to watch. It had snowed that day so parking was a little bit tricky because we couldn't see the spaces or how to park. Eventually we parked at the office behind the restaurant. We had a very friendly server, knowledgeable and just the right amount of attention. The other staff members were very polite as well when walking by our table. Our server even brought over a coloring book and crayons for the toddler! Such a nice little gesture that entertains the little ones!! The restaurant is clean, very clean and the restrooms were as expected, also very clean. They have a cozy, pretty large sized patio area and I'm sure it's popular when it's warmer. We will definitely be back to check it out when the sun comes out:-)

We were out driving around and looking for a place to eat and were lucky to read about this place on Yelp. The space is warm and inviting and the staff was friendly and knowledgeable. We were there in the winter so we could not enjoy their attractive outdoor space. We had Prince Edward Island Mussels - definitely among the best that I have ever had. Those alone would make the drive to Lovettsville worth it and they are now the bar by which we judge mussels everywhere. Don't go without giving them a try. It is kid friendly and they brought us 3 coloring books - awesome.

A very solid four stars: carefully thought-out and well-prepared dishes sourced from local farms and wineries; attentive staff who understand the menu and can spend the time needed to make you feel like a regular; and a location that's just far enough to make you committed to enjoying a meal. Fifth star would be for a post-prandial coffee that isn't flat and tasteless.

I keep searching for a reason to drop a star, because I'm generally hesitant to give out "perfect" scores. But, I really can't come up with anything I didn't like about this place. I loved that everyone we spoke to here was welcoming and sweet, I loved that the food was local and delicious, and I loved that the prices were incredibly reasonable. I have spent close to $9 on a burger from places like Cheeburger... I would obviously rather spend that money here. We loved (am I overusing that word yet?) so many different aspects of this place...from the various flowers surrounding the parking lot to the fact that they printed an individual menu for my mom's birthday lunch. Taking my parents to some place I've never been before is always a gamble. And who wants to be blamed for a bad meal? Luckily, after visiting this restaurant, everyone was singing my praises for the rest of the day :)

My wife and I were very surprised to find such an amazing restaurant in Lovettsville, Virginia of all places. After visiting Harpers Ferry with our 5 month old son, we wanted to find a place that was delicious, but accommodating to bring a baby. The staff at Market Table Bistro made us feel extremely welcome from the start. Campbell, our server, was so kind and knowledgeable about the fresh dishes. I had the Bolognese and my wife had the Pork Loin on a Pea Shoot Risotto. We also had the Mac & Cheese and Breakfast for Dinner as First Courses. It just so happens that pea shoots are my favorite vegetable. Stir-fried in garlic or ginger in Chinese cuisine, pea shoots have a fresh and soft flavor that changes the dynamic of the dish. It is a great change-up to garnishing pasta dishes with fresh basil. The Snicker Mousse was so decadent and fluffy, we finished every last bit. The bill came out to $89 after ordering a glass of wine, one beer, two first courses, two entrees, and a dessert. Quite reasonable!

My husband is a chef and we have owned several restaurants over the years. This is the first restaurant we have been to in many years that we found nothing lacking! The friendly knowledgable server was jewel. The food was simple, well presented and cooked/ temps were perfect! We started with three cheese plate, and homemade bread, the server knew the names and where they came from. Each cheese was paired with a homemade jam and one with wildflower honey, Housemade bread on the side. We then ordered pork terrine which rivaled any rillets I have had in France, delicious. The menu is seasonal, and truly local. Ordering our entrees was a bit difficult because everything on the menu was intriguing. We ended up with rockfish with lentils and tenderloin with purée potatoes and creamed spinach. Simple, cooked perfectly. It was a special occasion for us, so we wanted a dessert... We tried the campfire which was fun and delicious! Homemade gram cracker, layered with chocolate and marshmallow, a bit of smoke served under glass for that campfire taste. The wine list was great, full bar.... We will be back!

Good fresh food. Had deviled eggs, radish brioche, and white bean hummus. Solid prep. Brioche was a bit over seasoned for my taste. Not enough spice on eggs and too much bacon, again for my preference. The white bean hummus was excellent, but toast which accompanied it was over seasoned. Bibb lettuce with bacon, blue cheese, red onion, and green goddess dressing was good. Would preferred to have the salad tossed with dressing then plated, to a bit easier on the dressing z Good local wine recommendation from server. All in all a good local seasonal place. Will visit again.

The food and the service were superb. I can't say enough about the incredible wait staff. The wine and beer selection extremely varied. My wife had the filet which was cooked to perfection. I opted for one of the specials for the night which was a garlic pasta and sir lion tips. It was fantastic. We started the meal sharing two soups, their most excellent butter nut squash and the potato cheddar. The main dining room with the fireplace only helps the lend itself to the great food. We will definitely return

This is certainly as good as it gets in this price range! We stopped for Sunday brunch after a short hike on the nearby Appalachian Trail. Hubby had the flavorful chicken pot pie with chicken home-raised by the chef. I had the eggs Benedict, which was perfection, with notably better eggs for having come from the chef's chickens. For dessert he had the delicious bread pudding and I had the Moorenka's ice cream. I also had the elderflower-chmapagne cocktail, which was yummy, and a glass of red wine from their Virginia-only list, which was excellent. The service could not have been friendlier or more attentive. The chef was away that day, but he can be proud of how well they all performed, unsupervised. As the place filled up they just upped their game and did everything possible to make sure the guests felt well-served. If they ever decided to up their prices they would need to tidy up the herb garden from it's late fall disarray and make sure the rosemary sprigs in vases on the tables were really fresh. But these are pure quibbles -- the food, service, cleanliness and ambiance are really great. Just hope it doesn't get too popular now that it is one of Washingtonian Magazine's 50 best restaurants - a well-deserved accolade.

In my frequent "what-if" musings of a grander life, I oftentimes wonder what it would be like to open my own restaurant. A little place built into a cozy old home, relying on the good spirits of well-trained and friendly staff, and using nothing but the bounty of the local land to feed my patrons. Market Table Bistro is the restaurant I would open if I were to ever pursue that pipe dream. They go above and beyond to make you feel welcome and ensure that you will leave their dining room craving more. The menus are extremely seasonal - they change on a weekly/monthly basis depending on the season, chef's mood, or whatever our lovely local farms are currently growing. I've yet to have a bad meal - the dishes we've tried have ranged from steak and eggs to pickled vegetables, pork three ways, shrimp with ratatouille, eggs benedict to raspberry creme brûlée. No dish has fallen short of superb in both taste and presentation. The waitstaff is welcoming and will chat with you about the seasonal offerings. On our way out after our last visit, one of the sous chefs saw us examining the garden 'round back and told us about the edible flowers they'd been using in their menu that week. We even got to nibble on some. The ONLY downside is the neighborhood where the restaurant sits - it's like walking into a Jerry Springer episode. Shirtless yokels, smoking teens and loitering unsavories await on every corner. And unfortunately, they are very close to where you eat (which is really only a problem if you're eating on their adorable outside patio) and can be loud and obnoxious at times. It's not really the fault of Market Table Bistro's- just wanted to give the unsuspecting diner a word of caution if they planned to dine outdoors. Everything else is top-notch; just expect to wear your blinders or prepare to enjoy a really fun show put on by the locals :)

Delicious for brunch!! I was skeptical when my wife suggested we go here. We had just been to Harpers Ferry for a day trip adventure with our twin toddler boys. Everyone was awfully hungry. Looking at the menu online, I thought it seemed a little foo-foo for what we needed, but little did I know we were about to have one of the most delicious brunches we've ever had. Everything we got was exceptional. My wife had the quiche and raved about it. I had the sausage and gravy with biscuits and hash browns. All of it was done just right, and the chef here introduced new flavors to these dishes that worked really well. We had read reviews about their desserts on here so we tried those out as well and were not disappointed. We'd certainly like to come back and try Market Table for dinner sometime, though it is quite far off the beaten path. Worth mentioning also that the staff was very friendly, and were very accommodating of our little boys. Service was solid though not as speedy as it might be in a larger or more urban restaurant. We felt the quality of the food justified a slightly longer wait.

Let's start out with the service. EXCELLENT. From the time we got out of the car until the door was held for us to exit, 5 stars on service. Very deceiving spot by the looks of the rural area (was visiting from Miami, quite the contrast ha), building, and staff (who all look under 20) but they get an A++ on making sure that you feel welcomed and comfortable; they are patient with explaining and taking your order, always made sure that your water glass was filled, checked up on us, etc. very good. The food was very tasty and fresh. We ordered the artisan cheese plate, the kale caesar salad, mac n cheese, the special of the day was the parpadelle with rabbit, and the pork belly with grits. we also ordered the strawberry sampler for dessert and the cookie skillet. The desserts were yum but not as delicious as the mains and apps. 4 stars here. My only grips are I wish the portions were a teeny bit larger, parking was a little easier and they served espresso (instead of just drip coffee). Definitely worth the drive at least once. Well done MTB!

Frankly, although we had a nice dinner outside, we were disappointed. After reading the reviews and driving past their packed (albeit small) parking lot we expected better but our experience was probably between a 3 and a 4. I gave a 4 because the food was good but the service reflected poorly. The fresh salads were outstanding and their version of mac and cheese was decadent. Our service started out well and declined over the course of the meal when our young waiter was more interested in chatting with some of the younger couples (we were a family of 5 from 20 to 81) and we couldn't get refills or our bill. The rest of the food was fair to good, not great. We probably won't be back as there are other local venues in that price range with better offerings and definitely better service. It's a shame because we are local and they were very accommodating with our reservation. We really wanted to love it- perhaps it was just an off night?

Chris and I went here the evening before the wine country half marathon and had a great experience. I didn't get to try very much since I don't like to eat too much the night before a race, but what I tried was delicious. We split the warm marinated olives to start, which we really enjoyed. I went with a pasta dish with a lamb ragu, which was the perfect pre-race meal. The pasta was perfectly cooked and the lamb tender, and somehow they managed to keep the dish from feeling too heavy. They also had an excellent selection of bottled beers, including quite a few that I had never heard of. It's also worth mentioning that the staff were absolutely lovely. If they were annoyed with us not ordering much, they certainly didn't let on. They were also very knowledgeable about both the food and beer, and happy to answer any questions. Overall an excellent experience, and I look forward to going back on our next wine country trip.

An exciting Lovettsville restaurant in its own right, we hired Market Table Bistro to cater our wedding because we sought to feature sustainably and humanely sourced deliciousness for our guests at nearby WeatherLea Farm. Chef Jason is a true talent, and an awesome guy. He and his wife, Rebecca, who manages the operation, worked with us to craft a menu that was seasonal, personal, DELICIOUS, and also reasonable given the top-quality ingredients and care that go into every single dish. Our guests raved about each morsel at cocktail hour and dinner (we did a buffet-style service for the reception), and thanks to my good friend/Matron of Honor and her thoughtful husband setting aside plates for us, we got to sample all of Market Table's creations throughout the evening. We weren't about to miss out on it, as I think many wedding couples do! I bears mentioning that not only was the food very special, the service by the catering crew and by Rebecca, when communicating during the planning process and coordinating the rentals, was outstanding. The proprietors of our venue were impressed, and I'm sure you will be too. If creativity, freshness, sustainability, and taste are all important to you, seek out Market Table Bistro for your wedding or event - and feast at their Lovettsville restaurant too! Snarf.

A little gem in a little town and someone in the kitchen loves me! I'll start with the wall of cookbooks that are at your disposal. I just can't resist grabbing a few every time we walk in. The menu is an eclectic mix of comfort food with an adult taste and some truly special choices the chef clearly has pride in. We have been twice with friends and no one ever ordered a full dinner. And that is because no one can decide what they want the most. So it's family style for us, with the dishes being passed around the table at a furious pace. One night we never got passed the appetizers, we just kept them coming! The restaurant looks a bit formal when you walk in, but then the very knowledgeable wait staff are in 'clean-jeans'. They accommodate in every way, keeping up with our wine changes, small dish orders, then some more small dish orders, and then some more. . . . you get the picture. See that pix below with the mac cheese and Tasso ham? Yuuummmy.

Simply outstanding. I am a committed customer of the past 2 years. We take all our of town guests here to eat. Love the farm to table mantra and simplicity in dishes with complex flavors. The prices are fair and there isnt one thing i wouldnt eat. Ive had Rabbit/Duck Pot Pie, Filet Mignon(best ive EVER had, also the consensus of everyone i know thats had it). Charcuterie is carefully thought out and the service is spot on. The Staff is always working, even in slow spots. Youll never see any of them neglecting their customers or on their phones. Very professional, but not pretentious. They know their menu very well. Menu changes seasonally, if not monthly. Always new things that are in season. This place knows what it is doing in this quaint VA town. Cant say enough good things.

This entree deserves an additional review - not just an update. Ready? Pan roasted chicken breast with mushroom and goat cheese ravioli, pearl onions, arugula pesto, and natural pan jus. So, you think "chicken, big deal!" It is in Chef Jason's hands. I've always believed the best roast chicken, or even coq au vin, was only in a little bistro in Paris. I have been proven wrong! This is the best chicken dish of any kind I've ever had - anywhere. I've traveled and lived all over the world and I know food! The chicken breast has just the right amount of exterior pan seared color (not crispy fried chicken) while somehow, magically, still remaining tender and juicy throughout. But it doesn't stop there! The handmade ravioli filled with mushrooms and goat cheese add a hint of tang, while the pearl onions add a hint of sweet. The pan jus is rich and thick similar to the braising liquid of a red wine coq au vin. A bit of each on your fork and your taste buds will thank you. Once again, this Michelin starred chef outshines the four and five star restaurants at which I have had the blessing to dine. Keep up the great job - it's just getting better every day. I just HAVE to add that the chocolate sampler is just the signature dessert I've been longing for at this restaurant. I'm not going to describe it - be surprised! I will just say different chocolates, prepared into four delectably decadent desserts. Save room for this dessert.

All ingredients come from area farms. Sysco is a bad word here. All meals are prepared to order. They perfect the simple to become elegant. The menu changes according to seasonal availability so check on their website for the latest. I recommend calling for reservations for table in back room next to fireplace. A party next to us was displeased with menu options, the chef came out and designed a meal with the complaintive customer adhering to their picky tastes. The customer said the creation was, "heavenly." At no time did any of the staff make them feel odd or that their request was out of the ordinary. If you want fresh, individually prepared, perfected dining then this is where you should be...

Chef Jason is an amazing chef and i had the most awesome pre-birthday brunch today. I took a friend with me that has wanted to come here because of how much a rave about it. I could not decide what i wanted from the menu so Chef gave me a sampler! I was in a food coma prior to the end of the experience. Which i again request to be on the menu for those of us that can't decide!! I will order it every time. I am a french toast connoisseur and i love it. Chef Jason's Cinnamon French toast was crispy on the outside but the inside was almost custard like and melted in my mouth. The other items: Cheese with bacon grits ( amazing); smoked Salmon ( in house smoked) eggs Benedict, the smoke flavor is present but doesn't overpower the fish, with creamed spinach on top of a biscuit: AMAZING. The regular egg Benedict with country ham: YUMMY. The steak tenderloin with home fries: AMAZING. Oh and the homemade Eggnog was so "delish" ha ha. And they had a super soft pumpkin bread and Cinnamon /apple bread that was really good too. AND OF COURSE the butternut squash soup. Also tried the rockfish which was really good too. I was pleasantly full when we left. I love this place, they remember you and Chef Jason and his staff give great customer service. If you haven't been here yet, you are truly missing out. To some people, they have a menu for a reason, it's short and sweet and no matter what you pick, it will be good. Don't make it harder than it is and try to make up your own dishes for them to cook and come up with alternative veggies. It's all home made, fresh, organic and local from the surrounding farms. You can not get better than that. Trust me!! =0) Stop in, sit down and hang out. I do. =0)

Best place to eat in Loudoun County hands down. Jason and Becca are 2 of the nicest business owners I have ever met. The food that Chef Jason puts out is 5 star quality. I recommend Market Table to anyone that is looking for a great dining experience.

Thanks Yelpers! 10/12/13 visit was a huge hit. We took Mom and Aunt Linda out to Harpers Ferry for a day trip and planned on stopping here for dinner on the way home. I was nervous perusing the menu that the conservative palates in my party would struggle to find something they wanted from its single page, and even offered to try a more traditional dinner option. We all were so glad we stayed. I ordered the pork belly lettuce wraps and white bean hummus starters and they disappeared quickly as tentative Midwestern palates came face to face with fresh local ingredients managed by a skilled kitchen. I alone ordered the Butternut squash bisque and had to fend off my tablemates' invading spoons clamoring for more of the skillfully prepared dish. The signature roasted chicken entree was as advertised, simple yet the best version I have ever tasted. Our server was skilled and precise. Cocktails were excellent, the wine list ample. Only regret? We had no room for dessert. Next time, for sure.

An updated review for us; ate here again recently and am thrilled to report that the food and the service here continue to be flawless. Even after a few weeks' setback when Hurricane Sandy ate the roof, they have bounced back and are still going strong! How fortunate to have such a gem in our small town! The food is different without being off-puttingly exotic and scare off the less adventurous. Every server we have had, has had the impeccable manners and attentiveness of an English Butler; just the perfect blend of availability, true service, and unobtrusiveness doing so. They still strongly support local food vendors, which is fabulous. The chef clearly pays attention to every detail of each dish and makes sure it is exactly right. And for the level of food and service you get, it is priced reasonably in the 2-3 star range while treating you as if you paid 5 stars worth. Every meal here is a spa for the palate! This is definitely at the top of our "Special Night Out" list, for lunch or dinner. Definitely not a place for kids, though, unless they can stay still and be quiet like adults.

I spent the weekend in the Lovettsville/Harper's Ferry area this past weekend. In advance of the trip, I looked up restaurants in the area and found Market Table Bistro. It got great reviews on Yelp and sounded like a nice place. Well, nice is an understatement. The wait staff, much like the atmosphere, are low-key, casual, and friendly. They seem to work well together and are very attentive and efficient. The fact that this place is not all hoity-toity and snobby made the experience even better. Upon looking at the menu, I immediately spotted several things I wanted to try. We tried the warm olives, which were delicious, and dipped our bread in the olive oil they were cooked in - yum! We also had the deviled eggs, which were really tasty (but were also the only thing we had all evening that wasn't a stand-out dish). We also got the butternut squash soup, which I knew we had to try based on everyone's Yelp reviews. It's made with spiced apples and drizzled with vanilla oil, and it was the best butternut squash soup I've ever had. Moving on to the entree - I had the filet mignon, and it was easily the best filet I've ever eaten. Maybe it's because it came from a farm down the street, or maybe the chef is simply a genius (could be both). In any case, I could cut the steak with my butter knife, and even just the side of my fork. It came with great mashed potatoes and creamed spinach. Both were creamy and delicious, but the steak was the star. For dessert we had the salted caramel bread pudding. It was amazingly good. The bread pudding was perfect, and the addition of salted caramel made it melt-in-your-mouth amazing. To top it all off, it was drizzled with warm melted chocolate. The combination can't be beat. This place is only about 20 minutes from downtown Leesburg, and it's definitely worth the trip. I would go back in a heartbeat.

Food and service are excellent. That being said, dinner is very overpriced. Portions are small and not easily shared, so plan to spend at least $25/person for dinner, easily more. I've never been there for linch so perhaps it's more reasonably priced then.

Hurricane Sandy may have blown the roof off this place... but so does the food. MTB has finally reopened under a new roof and the food is just as exceptional under their new blue roof as it was under the long gone green roof. Last night I had the smoked salmon rillettes 1st course and swordfish as my main course - both were excellent. The toffee bread pudding completed the meal nicely. If you've always been curious to try a new dish, this is the place to try it. I may not have always liked my veggies as a kid, but if my mom could cook like Chef Jason, I would've eaten everything in sight. The staff at MTB is amongst the best and has never disappointed. So, make the trip out to Lovettsville and give this place a try!

I don't normally give 5 stars, but this place is absolutely worth it to me. First off - it is in Lovettsville. Let me tell you - Market Table Bistro would rate 5-stars in many places, all the better that it is this close to home. Secondly, they do what they say they do -- all of the ingrediants are fresh from local farms -- as much as possible. The menu changes daily and is very seasonal. This has become our favorite restaurant - local or not. It's not cheap -- two of us, with desserts and coffee can easily exceed $100 -- but it is WORTH it. Yes, I think it is that good. Let's talk about some great dishes: "Liver & Onions" - not what you think -- you HAVE to get this. Don't miss the filet - one of the most perfect cuts of meat, prepared perfectly - with just a hint of gamey taste that you'll ever have. Usually comes with creamed spinich. If you don't like spinich, then this will change your mind. Another not- to-miss is the butternut squash soup. It may be seasonal for fall and winter, so get it soon before it is replaced by spring and summer soups. Just recently, they added some "small bites" menu items - definitely try the meatball skewers. This dish combines several complimentary flavors that will continue to delight your palate for many seconds after each bite, Another fantastic, relatively new item is a starter of fresh salmon tartar, ahi tuna tartar, and shrimp ceviche. Amazing! I hope this becomes a regular. We look forward to each visit as there is always something new and exciting every time.

Once again yelp lead us to another amazing restaurant, thank you fellow yelpers! Market table bistro was amazing. My family of six all were able to find something delicious. We loved every bite of food we were given. Highlighted favorites: the Mac and cheese, chicken pot pie, and shrimp and grits! All of these dishes were amazing! The staff was very attentive and friendly and the restaurant was very cute with a nice small town vibe. If you find yourself in Lovettsville, VA this is the place to go!

Just stumbled across the lovely, small restaurant a few weeks ago when out on a pleasure drive in Loudon County. Went back for dinner last night and was equally pleased! The staff is extremely well trained (they even hold the door for you when you enter, exit) and the food is truly delicious. Specifically, we had the pumpkin and goat cheese ravioli and quail...both great choices. Dessert (hot chocolate chip cookie, creme brulee) were amazing. Lovely wine selection, as well. The ONLY change I would make (hence, the 4/5 star rating) is to add tablecloths and at dinner. Wish it were closer.....we drove in from Potomac and literally dodged deer going and coming....but that's another story! I highly recommend supporting this restaurant, owned by the former chef at Lansdowne Resort and his fiancee.

This restaurant was amazing! My family and I had a wonderful dinner; absolutely nothing negative to say. The interior is beautiful and the tables are spaced far enough away from each other. Our server was very attentive and could describe, in detail, different items on the menu. Also, at the top of the menu, all the farms that the owner buys from were listed & it is quite a list. Our meals were fabulous. My husband had the filet which melted in his mouth. I had the arancione, small balls of risotto rolled in flour and then sautéed. They had a lovely crunchy outside with soft, sweet risotto inside. I highly recommend this dish, especially if you are a vegetarian. My younger daughter had the homemade lamb meatballs. (We happened to see the chef put the lamb meat thru the grinder as we were led to our table. Can't get any fresher!) My older daughter had the chicken, which was perfectly cooked and delicious. We were planning on ordering one or two desserts and sharing them, until we read the dessert menu. The best dessert was a homemade chocolate chip cookie baked in a mini-cast iron skillet served with an icy cold glass of milk. I can't wait to return.

One of the best restaurant finds in Loudoun County so far, and I am picky. Went for lunch on a lazy Saturday. Started with the amazing butternut squash soup drizzled with vanilla oil. I wish I had purchased a quart to take home. Drank copious amounts of the unsweet tea which is the best I have had in this region and is locally sourced. My entree was the salmon with salad, the dressing was very unusual. My husband had the macaroni and cheese. Didn't have room for dessert. Service was good. Can't wait to come back for dinner. Atmosphere is homey - not fancy - and my only complaints were a pesky fly in the dining room and some loud dining companions at the next table.

What a fantastic find. How I found this place was a long story. I subscribe to Tasting Table DC, and one week, they featured a DC based company making maple syrup, using an old whiskey casks (due to an old prohibition rule, you can only use each cask once). The whiskey maker for those casks happened to be 1/2 hour from where my office was, so I went there. Whiskey part was a bust - it sold rye whiskey aged 2 years and lacked depth of flavor. BUT, they had a flyer from Market Table and it was only 12 minutes away, so I went there. It is a "farm to table" restaurant in Lovettsville, and it is a very versatile restaurant ("Bistro") that caters to many types of diners, from casual to snacking, to structuring a three-course dinner (=ME). What I mean by this, is that their menu starts with a section to share small plate snacks like Virginia peanuts, deviled eggs, olives, etc., Then they have "first course" and "main course," and you can dine there with a group, sharing many first course items. I opted to structure a three-course dinner (actually four, I had two starters), starting with a bottle of local beer brewed in Williamsburg, VA: Red Market Ale, as they have a limited selection of wine by the glass (and alas, I was dining alone and could not sample their Loudoun County wine) and could not order a whole bottle. My choices for the three-course were: Starter: Salad of Summer Greens, Berries, Goat Cheese, Pine Nuts, Vanilla-Citrus Vinaigrette. Beautifully tossed, right amount of dressing, lots of good leaves, frisée included, toasted pine nuts, blue and blackberries, etc. You can taste fresh fresh fresh ingredients. Followed by "Torchon of Foie Gras, Sweet & Sour Cherries, Chambord Gelee, Toasted Brioche." YUM. Having suffered a ban on foie gras in California, seeing this on the menu and ordering it was a no-brainer. Folks, geese gorge themselves naturally prior to their massive long-distance migration (this is how early ear folks found out how yummy their liver is) so overfeeding them is not cruel. What they do with the bird after they harvest the liver was found to be inhumane, but then think about veal. Killing baby cows for food consumption - why would that be still allowed? It's because beef industry is too large (and powerful) to go after. If you drink milk, think about this. How do you think you get milk? From a mother cow who just had a baby. They have to have plenty of cows that gives birth of calves, but if you think killing geese is cruel, killing baby cows are worse, right? Anyway. I shall step down from my soap box and continue with my food monologue. Oh, foie gras here? Y.U.M. Beautifully peapared, and the "Chambord gelee" was not just a gimmick but added lovely flavor to otherwise very rich torchon. YUM. Main: Catfish with great garnishes (I forgot to write them down - but had lovely ratatouille, corn something to make the dish great. I do not normally think of catfish to be a gourmet food item, but they made it gourmet and I approve of it! Dessert: Molten chocolate cake with vanilla ice cream. YUM. I am already wary of ordering this dessert, as in my experience, it has a 70% failure rate. They nailed this, with right balance of salt and sweet. Basically, it has to be a cake on the outside, and when you stick a fork or spoon into it, the center chocolate oozes out. I would say, theirs rank either #1 or 2 of my favorite molten cake EVER (the other memorable one was served at Daniel Boulud's place in New York) It is obviously a popular eatery for the locals as well as tourists. It is a place for casual quick dining, or formal coursed meal. While I was enjoying my fantastic three course dinner, an older, early 60's couple sat down. The man ordered a Angus steak, medium well, and his companion lady started with a cup of coffee, and ordered mac and cheese for her meal. THIS is what I'm talking about. It is a neighborhood place that uses fantastic ingredients (they list out their local farmers) , serves great food, from totally casual to formal that pleases many types of diners. I highly recommend it.

Ate here for dinner on a Wed night with husband & 2 kids. Everything was wonderful, esp. notable were bibb salad, chicken dinner, mushroom pasta dinner. Service was very friendly & helpful. Sat outside which was nice, esp. with kids. This is a gem of a place in rural VA. Would definitely go back.

I would actually give them 4.5 stars. You're hearing this from a non-local. The view of the rural areas and Shenandoah around there was dazzling after driving for about 1.5 hours (one-way) from around Washington, DC. Lovettsville is way off the beaten paths. After parking in their gravel lot and entering, the maitre d' gave me a warm welcome and seated me. It was very slow and quiet when I got there around noon. The waitress was very tentative with taking my order and refilling my glass. Steak and eggs was a knockout and it took only about 10 minutes given it was a slow time. Steak came out perfectly juicy and tender. Grits topped with cheese stayed hot and fresh since that came in a cast-iron skillet. I won't comment about the eggs other than that it was served sunny-side up. I wished I should've requested it scrambled in the first place. The creme brulee and "cookie skillet and milk" I ordered did take a while since the Sunday brunch/lunch crowd started packing in. Since it was my very first time trying creme brulee, I'd say it was good like chocolate mousse and it came with a pair of wafers. Chocolate chip coookie came in a mini cast-iron skillet with a glass of fresh cold milk. Cookie was hot and gooey and oh so good. The farm-fresh cold milk helped soothe it. I will definitely keep this in mind whenever I feel like getting away. I'll be mentioning this a lot when chatting with my buddies.

Haute Fare in Lovettsville? Finding snobby cuisine in Lovettsville is a little like finding a Ruth Chris steakhouse in rural Ethiopia. After you come to terms with the cultural contrast and pinch yourself to make sure you aren't dreaming, then you can settle down and enjoy a memorable meal. The wine list was incredible; a large selection and not overpriced. I had lentil soup for an appetizer. It was excellent. My entrée was a filet mignon ($26). It was perfect. It sat on a bed of mashed potatoes and creamed spinach (which were a little cool) but otherwise a great and beautifully presented meal. My wife had a salad; which she enjoyed. Two glasses of house wine, two appetizers, two filet mignons, no desert, $106 w/20% tip. This would be a "must go to" if you are anywhere close to Lovettsville and/or enroute to the West Virginia casinos which are very close by. The restaurant bar in Lovettsville has been set VERY HIGH!

We had a delightful anniversary dinner here and can't wait to return. The salad was fresh, the bread was delicious, and our steaks were tender and juicy. (Only complaint was that we asked for medium well and it was more like medium.) The service was great and we even received personalized menus to honor our anniversary.

Really great food! Something on the menu for everyone. Waitstaff knows how to serve a table. Our experience was excellent. Gave it 4 stars because I thought the menu could have used 1 or 2 more options for entres and they only had enough pate' for half of our table - bummer. Great wine list, though. Would definitely go back!

Outstanding all around! Market Table Bistro is just an incredible dining experience. We have been their many times with family and friends and we all have greatly enjoyed it. The chef and the staff are amazing; very friendly, professional and accommodating of any request. The environment is relaxing and wine, beer and liquor selection is impressive. The menu has all fresh ingredients bought in from local farms. Winners: the bib salad, butternut squash soup, filet mignon, liver and onions, and the portobello mushroom panini (lunch)...and pretty much everything else we have tried. We are so happy that they owners chose Lovettsville and hope they continue to have nothing but success for a very long time. Definitely worth checking out!

Husband and I have now been twice and have had an excellent meal each time. Wonderful selection of beers and wines. Shrimp and Grits is to die for and the filet is top notch. Desserts are amazing too!! Great out of the way gem in rural Loudoun County, worth the drive and a relaxing evening.

It's not often you are served perfect food; we came very very close with our lunch today at Market Table Bistro. We loved the starter, pate with onion marmalade, perfectly fresh with homemade toast points. Our entrees were a perfectly grilled salmon on a bed of beautiful greens with apples, walnuts, and a delicious vinaigrette and a wild mushroom tagliatelle with truffle oil. Everything was beautifully presented, cooked exactly the right amount. We also enjoyed the friendly service, and pumpkin brûlée for dessert. It's true, if inexplicable, that the restaurant wasn't anywhere near full, but I expect that may change as word gets out. Prices were moderate, $8 to $15 for lunch. We can't wait to return for dinner!

We had 5 in our party. Made reservations for 630, which I would recommend. It started filling up when we arrived, and was full with more coming in when we were leaving two hours later. To begin we had garlic hummus which was delicious and warm olives, perfect start. 3 in our party had the salmon which came on a bed of cold field greens, and green beans. Excellent summer meal. Cooked perfect for my taste. Then 2 others had the filet which was tender, and up there with the best ever had. Dessert was two orders of berry crisp, again the best, and bread pudding which was stated as delicious. Casual surroundings. Excellent staff and service. Will visit often.

Went last night with 2 other couples. It's hard to believe that this level of upscale cuisine exists in Lovettsville, but I am grateful for the change! The service was great and the food was excellent. I had the Filet Mignon ($25) and two excellent beers chosen from a really nice selection. The Filet easily rivaled Ruth Chris and was made even better by the sides on which it was resting. I pride myself on trying new beers regularly, and yet recognized only a few on the menu. For 6 of us, 4 of which were NOT drinking, the tab was $250, not including the tip, but I would say that the cost was commesurate with the quaility. I definitely recommend it.

After reading all the reveiws on this place I was super excited to try the Market Table. Being from Portland Oregon I was already in a withdraw state for good food. I looked up the menu and thought yes this is going to be awesome. Farm to table products, pate' and amazing chef's. We were unable to make a dinner setting so we settled for lunch. The menu was simple but elegent. We started out with the soup of the day a corn chowder and gazpacho both were excellent and had amazing flavor. You could really tell that the ingrediants were fresh and the flavors had been really well developed. The only thing that would have made the choice better would have been a bread or muffin served with the soup. There were bread plates on the table but they must be for decoration only. We decided to go with the spring pasta dish for our main course and this is where Market Bistro fell flat. I know that many resteraunts use dry pasta but the pasta chosen was no better than the nooldes you get in Kraft macaroni and cheese. For an upscale farm to table resteraunt I would have liked to see fresh pasta but if this is not possible then at least chose a pasta that is upscale and has good flavor. The broth was super salty and barley palatable but the muchrooms did make up for this somewhat. The one thing I did not get was the lack of summer vegtables that we were supposed to get. After all it was a summer vegatble pasta dish. I guess at the end of the season a few sprigs of what I think was spinich is expected? I am not sure if I will ever get back to Lovettsville but if I do hopefully I will get to try this place again after all we all make mistakes right?

Awesome Restaurant on a number of fronts: Food- Superb! Localvore eating which means that the restaurant uses locally grown produce and pastured meats which both supports the local community, creates sustainable agriculture and ensures freshness. The food was excellent with unique dishes that were well prepared and artistically presented. I had the brisket and sampled the filet and both were great! Split a dark chocolate creme brulee which was small but delicious! Service (April) was superb but she knew a number in our group so we got some extra attention. They did a special menu for our birthday boy and the chef/owner both came to our table and gave us a tour of the kitchen.

PROS: -They recognize all of the local farms and farmers that they source their food from at the top of their menu - love that! -Very tasty, wholesome food out of fresh ingredients -White bean hummus was delicious!!! -Very friendly and attentive waiter, even though we were there on a busy Saturday night -Modern and minimalist decor/atmosphere was nice, small cozy feel -We arrived 45 minutes ahead of our reservation and the staff were very accommodating and seated us anyway! CONS: -Not many veggie options. -We had really high expectations based on many peoples' recommendations, but found some of the dishes a little bland/underwhelming for such high praise
