Manchu Wok

What Manchu Wok certainly has is the potential to be a great food court restaurant offering healthy options in a military base where your choices range from DFAC to downright dismal. There is no inbetween, and Manchu Wok offers the potential to change all that. But unfortunately, in the magical world of Yelpland, we don't care about potential. We care about results, and that's where this little restaurant comes up short. I have no complaints about the price of the food or the speed with which it is prepared. It's like six dollars for a meal here and the service is more or less instant. So that's clearly not the problem here; you could go to nearby Subway and get a five-dollar footlong prepared in about the same time. But more than likely you were enticed by the idea of having freshly prepared Chinese food in front of you at Fort Lee without having to call and wait for delivery. Manchu Wok isn't all that different from those Chinese delivery places. The presentation happens to be a little different, and that's all. You know how Subway has all its available food laid out in a row behind glass for you to peer through? You're mostly getting the same thing here. But to tell you the truth, I'm comparing this place to Subway so much not because you can get food pretty much the same way at these two restaurants, but because all other places for healthy food nearby on Fort Lee are virtually nonexistent when the DFAC is closed. I've had that situation happen to me too many times before. When the DFAC is closed, it becomes a mad dash for my battle buddies in AIT and me to make it to the Post Exchange food court to grab some lunch. Subway is too ordinary and everybody's been there, so I've resorted to Manchu Wok twice to get food that shouldn't have been so difficult to obtain. Is it Americanized Chinese food? Absolutely, but don't let that deter you if your options are as limited as I've just described. The fried rice here and especially the fried noodles actually have some merit to them. They are by no means masterpieces, but they taste all right and are quite good considering their price. I would advise getting those two plus one other item of your choosing so that it comes up to three items total. The whole thing will come in a paper plate and you can expect to pay $5.99 for it. Could the food be any better? Of course it could, but this is Fort Lee and you have to take what you can get before your weekend pass expires.

This is a regular Pizza Hut restaurant. Service is sometimes slow but that's because they are extremely busy serving the military and making deliveries. The food still comes fresh and hot.
Pizza was great, prepared just how we asked. Our delivery man was absolutely awesome!! He was so nice and very prepared. He provided us with additional napkins and even asked if we needed paper plates. I've never met a driver that was so prepared.
Food came fast and was good could have been prepared a little better but definitely better than the defac
