Yuck! Worst ever! Food had no flavor! Service was fine. So disappointed! Will not be going back!

Love! Love their rocking chairs, love their store, love their service, love their breakfast, and love that this is as close as I am almost regularly going to get to the country. This will be four stars for their breakfast, which I normally come here for. I recently experienced dinner at another C.B. location and would give it three stars (the Campfire Chicken, though it looks neat all wrapped up in aluminum foil with corn on the cob and some veggies, it's pretty freaking bland. It took a lot of salt shaking and hot sauce dripping to get it good.) I would have to say their pecan pancakes are the way to go. It's hard for me to get anything else. With a side of biscuits and gravy and a tall glass of OJ, it's a pretty perfect and filling breakfast. Service is friendly and very attentive. Best time to come: on a Sunday. Sure there's a crowd...and a wait... sometimes...(and by sometimes, I mean most of the times), but it's fun to kill time in their store. Then, when it's time to eat, fill up, go home, and pass out the rest of the day.

Jazz the waitress was awesome and so much fun. On a busy Friday morning she was acting hostess as well as serving tables and handling it all well. I wish there was more staff on hand, because this was really too much for any one person.

Another good place for breakfast while on the road for business travel. Beats the hotel food and the selection, as always, is large. You can eat lite or have a breakfast that fills the table with plates.

Worst experience at a Cracker Barrel. Kids pancakes were overdone, server forgot syrup and took about five minutes to bring it, had to get the booster seat myself, was charged $2.19 each for kids 1/2 milk cartons because they are NOT included in the breakfast meals, and eggs were undercooked. Will think twice before driving 20 miles to go to this Cracker Barrel.

So, this review is along the lines of my Long John Silvers review... what can I say about this chain? They do their thing and they do it sooooo right I'm helpless to resist! My lust for CB is soooo bad that on road trips, none of my friends even bother asking me anymore where I want to stop at. And bless their hearts, they accommodate me more often than not (and not to their disadvantage I might add, judging by their happy, stuffed gullets :)). And the Cracker Barrel meal that is most responsible for my glowing praise? Grandpa's Country Fried Breakfast. With hashbrown casserole (to die for... you guys who've had it know what I'm talking about) and country fried steak. Seriously, when I'm on my death bed and nothing else matters about my health, this is the meal I'll have... two of them, actually! And what amazes me most aside from the food is just how does Cracker Barrel keep it so inexpensive?! I mean, they're the affordability gold standard by which I judge all other restos. I just don't get it? Are they underwriting all the delicious food they sell by the massive profits they must make from their chotsky filled "country" stores? If so, more power to them for making some of my favorite food ridiculously affordable.

Typical, Cracker Barrel. Good service, good food. I enjoy this place.

Just your standard run of the mill Crack-B. Don't expect any more or less.

I really like this CB because the employees have always been very friendly everytime that I've come. The store is orderly and has a great variety of items in stock. The food is typical CB food. It seems people either love CB or hate CB. I for one, love it. We actually ordered take-out this time around. The sausage biscuits and side of hashbrowns were quickly prepared and our order was ready in no time. We were able to hop back on the road quickly. Also, we ordered a bacon, egg, and cheese biscuit, which is not on the menu, but they happily put it together for us.

Absolutely horrible! Service sucked! Our 25-30 minute wait turned into an hour. The guy taking us to our table drop the kids' menu and kicks it to side so when he asks his cohort for another menu this idiot picks it up off their floor and hands it over (we got another one that didn't come off their nasty floor) After our waitress takes our order she ignores us for 25 minutes while we watch the table next to us get biscuits while they wait for their meal! After 25 minutes of stink face waitress finally checks on us, I ask for biscuits like the people next to us enjoyed and then she comes back with our food and says well, your food is ready! Could get better service at a Waffle House! Really, Cracker Barrel? I don't think so, waited an hour for this bs? Suck it Cracker Barrel! Won't come back here again!

I go here a lot because I like the food. But have had problems. Often the server will stick her thumb in my food which I don't like. Also when I order the dish with 4 country ham biscuits sometimes they will serve it on a wet lettuce leaf. The wet lettuce leaf is supposed to be a garnish but of course the wet lettuce leaf gets the bottom of the biscuits soggy and when that happens I have them remake the whole thing but tell them to leave off the wet lettuce leaf. Desserts are all sickly sweet. Chicken and dumplings are good but the dumplings are simply too thick but I order it anyway. It can be rather annoying in that sometimes you can't even get seated before your waitress wants your drink order. They do have items which are not on the menu such as omelets but I ordered one once and it was so bad I never ordered another one. I asked them for a list of what they fix that is not on the menu but they said they had no such list, just to tell them what I wanted. So I did but they said they had no eggs Benedict. Every time I come in it seems they have a different manager so the turnover here is VERY high. But I like the fact that they seem to only serve butter and they know what butter is here. Other places they think that margarine is butter and butter is REAL butter. Also I think all they have is maple syrup, not the imitation stuff. I have to downgrade the place for often sticking their thumb in my food and the stupid things like the wet lettuce leaf garnish and lack of a reasonably sweet dessert. The latest thing is that if I order my entree they seem to ALWAYS bring the biscuits and cornbread out at the same time, even if I tell them I want the cornbread ahead of the meal. So from now on I will NOT give them my entree order until I get my cornbread.

Sometimes on a Sunday afternoon you crave country fried chicken and mashed potatoes. Services is as slow as molasses (I'm not kidding) and isn't as nice as the true south. At least the desserts are still sweet.

This review is purely for the "General Store" aspect of Cracker Barrel. Because really, the food is pretty much shyte, and you only eat a meal here if you are on a long road trip and you have no other choice. But the general store has something that I have never been able to find anywhere else. I have gone to specialty candy stores, googled my heart out, and STILL I cannot find this item retailed anywhere but in a Cracker Barrel Store. What is this amazing product, you ask? Valomilk. Never heard of it? I'm not surprised. It is one of the best kept secrets in the world. In fact, many days, I thank the powers-that-be that this delicious treat is not anywhere within hundreds of miles of me...because if it were, I would surely weigh at least 50 pounds more. Picture this. The chocolate shell of a Reese's Peanut Butter Cup. But about 5 times as large. Darker, richer, tastier chocolate. Then....filled with what can only be described as heaven. Sort of like marshmallow. Sort of like buttercream. Soft and silky and creamy, probably filled with crack, and....well...freaking delicious. 5 stars for the presence of Valomilk alone.

I love Cracker Barrel... mainly because they don't exist in California and they are something of a novelty. My husband and I come here every month or so and always leave happy. Tasty, consistent comfort food at a reasonable price - one really can't ask for more.

my 1st time ever @ a Cracker Barrel that I've heard so much about... sadly disappointed :( the service was SLOOOOOOOOWER than paint drying. do these people smile? and do they have a brain? there were 4 tables around us, each and every one of our orders were WRONG! lol... wow! and then we finally get our food.... :( they won't see us again sadly. the store is pretty cool tho. oh and the biscuits are good, that's all.

This place can be great, or suck. Food is consistently great but service is all over the place. Usually good but not always

Outstanding service!!! My biggest peeve has always been CUSTOMER SERVICE! The Barrell gets it! Came in for a late brunch and tried the chicken & dumplings. Well prepared using breast tenderloins. Tasted almost as good as my Aunt's! The corn and carrots were good but the pinto beans stole the show. Taleisha's(sp) an awesome server!

I am originally from Tennessee (home of Cracker Barrel) so I have had my fair share of CB cuisine over the years. Though I live in DC, I recently introduced my boyfriend to CB and he has made sure that we make a trip to the nearest CB (an hour away) at least once a month. Out of all of the CB locations I have experienced, this location has the ABSOLUTE WORST service ever. Three out of four times I have been to this location in the past six months, we have barely been acknowledged within 15 minutes of being seated. This is unacceptable! The food is typical, CB food, but the service is underwhelmingly horrible. I will never forsake my love for CB, though I am a vegetarian and refuse to eat any of their southern-style vegetables (read: cooked in pig or other animal fat), I still manage to enjoy their non-animal dishes.

5 stars for consistency. Solid french toast, eggs over easy, maple syrup on the side. Even with the Waffle House next door, I always manage to make my way over to Cracker Barrel. Sure, there are fancier breakfast establishments far closer to home, but for old school breakfast served exactly the way you want it, CB is the place to go. Plus, I love the kitschy little shop filled with old fashioned toys and candies, I love to pick a bunch up as gifts every time I go over. And if you're a motorcycle riding fool, Dumfries is a good turn around for an early morning ride. I love to ride down the GW Pkway to Mount Vernon, then Down US1 until I get to Dumfries. Have breakfast, then turn around and ride back to work (turns my 5 minute commute into a 3 hour commute, but the ride is beautiful, and when you're on a bike, it's all about the journey, not the destination)... :)

I came here this evening with my family for Father's Day. It seems like all families had the same idea, because Barrel was very busy. While we waited about 15 minutes to be seated, I browsed the "old country store". There's a lot of cute, kitchy merchandise. The store items range from Yankee candles, to Webkinz stuffed animals, to patriotic tee-shirts, and much more. Here's where I knocked off 2 stars. Our waitress was friendly, and tried her best to give us good service. I understand it was pretty busy, but it did seem to take too long (a solid 10 minutes) for our waters and iced tea to be served. We had to ask our server twice for things, such as ketchup, extra napkins, and lemon for our water. I ordered the bbq chicken, which came with 2 sides. My corn on the cob was mushy. At least my 1 year-old niece didn't have to worry about chewing the corn. My chicken was good, but I think it sat a bit too long in the kitchen, because it was lukewarm. I recall having a better experience at the Manassas location. It's not as far from my parent's, so I will return there before this location.

Our family has been to this one many times alway forgetting this is the one to avoid, all cracker barrels look the same ,poor service, small portions, constantly out of food items. We now remember this as "your a Dummy if you eat in Dumfries" and we have never been back since we made the slogan. and we have another for Cracker barrel in Ashland " your an ass if you eat in Ashland" They have the same problems

When we first moved here we'd plan our day trips around where the nearest Cracker Barrel was...simply because their breakfasts are awesome! Unfortunately this CB loses a star (yes, a whole star!) because they seem to have off kitchen days. It's like they're still too sleepy in the morning to remember to put some of the seasoning on things. Last time we went my french toast came out without any cinnamon or vanilla flavoring at all...it was like they dipped it in egg and just cooked it that way. Our waitress was too busy to notice us flailing at her so I couldn't get a side of cinnamon to dust it with, so I just ate it and was sad. Maybe the next time we get up at some god awful hour we'll pop in here again...but I'm a bit less ecstatic about it than I used to be.

I don't care what anyone says, I LOVE CRACKER BARREL. I can't go anywhere else (chain-wise) for breakfast, I don't care how hungover I am. It's to the point where nobody will go with me anymore, and let me tell you, in solitude one finds biscuits 'n' gravy. No matter what time it is, I'm ordering Uncle Hershel's favorite--two eggs scrambled, sausage patties, hash brown casserole and biscuits and country gravy. I did deviate from my usual order once and ordered the pot roast. Downright divine--tender, salty and swimming in deeeeelicious gray. Some of the best sweet tea this side of the Potomac on tap too. There are obvious drawbacks. They sell weird stuff in the country store, like lamps shaped like tractors or dolls that look like they will come to life and kill you (or at least steal your best friend from 4th grade). Now that I dine alone in this breakfast thunderdome, I do get the odd ogle from the borderline-redneck massive ("look Cletus, she's watching a lil' white TV with an apple on it!") and the service teeters on sucking... but that's mainly because I'm sucking down the fluid-ounce equivalent of the capacity of the Exxon Valdez (RIP). They have rockin' chairs for when you have to wait (and you usually will), that little golf-tee pyramid game (handy for ADD grown-ups like me) and a dress nailed to the wall I would have worn with pride back in my Dead head days. Back to the food: the eggs, scrambled, are buttery and slightly underdone, always sunshine-yellow and NEVER a speck of brown (which renders eggs inedible in my opinion). The hash brown casserole is starchy, onion-y and cheesy, gooey ooey mm mm mm! (Note to vegetarians--they use chicken stock in it, so it doesn't count on your "veggie plate.") The biscuits are perfect--not too salty, floury white pillows encased in that southern-biscuit attitude that packs a bit of crunch. And the gravy--PERFECT. I can never get it that way at home! Nearly opaque, creamy and melts in your mouth. After about 50 shakes of pepper I'm in hog heaven. Literally.

We love Cracker Barrel and have been to many of them, particularly when traveling. Hit this location today around 1:30 and there was a 25 minute wait for a table for 4. No problem waiting before being seated. Where I have a problem waiting is after being seated. It took 15 minutes for a server to come by and tell us that our server would be by in a minute. Five minutes later, he came by for drink orders. 15 minutes later, drinks were delivered and our orders taken. We started watching tables around us who were seated after us receive their meals. We even received one of their meals ourselves. The waiter then came back to ask us where our food was. We did not know. We had then been seated for an hour. He retook our order, "just in case". We are not sure if he forgot to place the order or if the kitchen lost it or what happened. He offered then to bring us some bread while we waited and after about 10 minutes, I went over to the kitchen myself to find out where the bread was at least. 10 minutes later, a different waitress brought out some cornbread. My daughter spilled her milk and my husband had to go hunt down someone for napkins to clean it up and we sat with wet napkins and plates in the middle of the table for the remainder of the meal. Another 15 minutes later, our order came out except for my husband's meal which was still cooking. My daughter's pancakes were crunchy but she did not care that they were overcooked. When his meal arrived a few minutes later, the sides were incorrect. By now, the manager was involved. The table behind us stormed out when their order was brought out wrong three times in a row. I'm not sure if our waiter was slow in the head or just didn't care. Regardless, we spent well over two hours at the table with most of it just sitting there waiting and no one cared. Unacceptable. We'll still go to Cracker Barrel but not this location.

This place gets the job done, get your stomach full! I ordered the country fried steak breakfast. Like my rating says it's A-OK. It's not the best country fried steak in the world but it did help me get through the long day. Service was decent they split our checks without anyone asking. More stars for the cool military memorabilia posted around our table.

Food was OK and is what i expect from Cracker Barrel (I'm not a fan but the wife is). But the service was poor so the 3-star rating goes to 2-stars. The waitress was nice enough, but it seemed like she kept forgetting about us. Manager got involved towards the end of the meal, but it was too late at that point to do any good.

Went for my Sis B-day dinner. We Love the Chicken and Dumplings. Well they Ran Out! We didn't find out until an hour later,We eat meat loaf and roast beef, instead. The manager did give us the meal free! At least we have other Cracker Barrel.

Not bad. Went here for the "southern cooking." Price wasn't too steep because there was a lot of food given. Each entree comes with a chocie of 3 sides + fresh biscuits and corn bread. Not bad at all. The fried cat fish was pretty good. I got the country fried chicken and it was okay. Overall: price: fair service: good quality: okay overall good time, fun filling food, not a bad price.

We used to visit them on a fairly regular basis. On vacation, we'd seek this place out. This was our first visit back in about a year and a half. Not because of a bad experience however. Simply because they don't have ribs anymore. Why?! The ribs there were the best I've ever had. The sauce was perfect. Oh well. They bring them back every once in a while, but not nearly enough. Surprisingly, we were seated fast. Then it got slower. We place our order and waited about 15-20 minutes for our food. They were busy, but not an unusual busy for them. The food was pretty good once it arrived. The fried okra was a bit mushy. The mashed potatoes tasted as if they and the gravy covering them were instant. The chick was good and so were the apples. I so wanted to save room for the peach cobbler, but I was a full little person. The country store side of Cracker Barrel has really changed. No longer are they trying to be the quaint store that they started out being. Now, it seems that they are just trying to make people spend money on the gimmicky things. Halloween, Fall, Christmas, mass market stuff. Nothing quaint about most of it. Sad. I used to like exploring the store. All the hokey country saying on tshirts and hat made me happy. We'll keep going. The food is still hearty and hits the spot now and again.

uummm... can you say salt? It really doesn't matter how nice the staff when all you taste is salt. Looking to off your spouse - take them here often enough and their ticker will quit working. All I can say is - SALT - yuck.

I took my mom here for Mother's Day because 1.) she loves fried okra and not too many places serve it, and 2.) it was on the way to our "real" destination, Carl's ice cream in Fredericksburg. We had eaten at Cracker Barrel restaurants in the past, so it seemed like a safe choice. Well, it was basically disappointing. Just about all the food (fried chicken, catfish, breakfast) was rather flavorless. I wouldn't go back unless someone else was payin'.

  • Wayne S.

I used to really love Cracker Barrel but the last 4 or 5 trips to this one is slowly changing my mind. For breakfast I always get something that will have eggs. I ask, with a strong emphasis, for scrambled eggs that are scrambled WELL. Well this restaurant seems to have an issue with this. The last trip here I had to return them as they were way under done and I hate returning food. The eggs I received yesterday were basically pressed down and flattened and cooked like a fried egg. Nowhere even close to scrambled and this seems to be the norm here. The sausage was the driest and basically tasteless I've ever seen. Getting refills is damn near impossible and butter/jelly may or may not show up when you ask for it.

Compared with the branched I have tried in the past , this one is a very low quality of restaurant compared with the others . The service is not good , cleaning of the tables take along time . They never put into consideration that some family have handicapped children's . The food really differed from what we tried before , more specifically from Orlando branch . I would really recommend it for travelers not for regular customer .

We love, love, love this place! It makes you feel like you're at home in the country! And who doesn't love a place that offers breakfast all day every day?! My go-to dish is the chicken fried chicken with hash brown casserole, green beans, and mac & cheese, fried cinnamon apples or fried okra. It's so hard to pick the 3 accompanying sides because so many of their sides are delicious! The boyfriend usually gets the sunrise sampler with scrambled cheesy eggs, bacon, sweet country ham, grits, biscuits and hash brown casserole and never has any complaints. We have always had great service here and the manager, Will is AWESOME! The best part is looking through the Old Country Store on your way out. It has the cutest gifts and trinkets!

Let me start by saying I love Cracker Barrel -- I always have and I always will. It seems, however, that this location may need some help! The good: Well, it's Cracker Barrel! I love coming to this restaurant because it always feel homey (I know that's the idea, with the identical layout of every store and all) and the food is always good. It's fun to browse the store while waiting for a table or play a game of checkers by the fire place. The menu provides diners with the best comfort food imaginable and I've never left unsatisfied. The bad: This place is ALWAYS packed! Definitely avoid this location on Sundays as you will be waiting 30+ minutes for a table. It even gets a little crowded during the week around lunch time. I've only been to this location twice, and we had a decent wait (10 and 30 minutes, respectively) each time. There also seem to be some issues in the kitchen. On my first visit, a table next to us sent food back almost immediately after receiving it because it was not cooked to their liking. A group a few tables over was having a serious-looking conversation with a manager about similar issues that they had with their food as well. On our second visit my wife and I were arriving just as lunch was starting (11am, according to their menus). We realized once we were seated that we had only gotten the breakfast menu! I returned to the hostess stand and inquired about some lunch menus. I was informed that the kitchen was backed up and we wouldn't be able to get lunch yet (it was almost 11:15 at this point). I confirmed that lunch did indeed start at 11am (yes), and the host finally relented and gave me the lunch menus. We had no issues ordering from the lunch menu after that. Three out of five for the inconsistencies with service!

Location is right off 95 so it's always packed. I usually avoid Sundays bc there is a church nearby and a lot of folks come after church. Don't expect 5 star resturant gourmet. They serve simple country style homemade breakfast and lunch. They offer breakfast all day too for those fearing breakfast for dinner. Love their pancakes and Hash brown casserole. And their staff is always friendly and amazing. Our waitress made sure we were never without coffee. Make sure you check out the country style store attached to the resturant. There are always neat trinkets for the holidays and you can find old school candies and snacks.

This is a great family restaurant! Don't let the line outside discourage you, it goes fast and it's worth the wait. Parking can be a hard but just be patient. The family always has a great meal here, something for everyone.

Had a business dinner here and was disappointed in the food. Not exactly a great first impression. Our waitress was sweet but clearly she had no training and she was flying by the seat of her apron to just get through the night. In my opinion, she will not likely stay in service. It wasn't her thing and it was really obvious. The food was subpar and not that interesting. Crazy because I heard so many people talk about this place and it definitely makes me question people's opinion about tasty southern style cooking. I'm beginning to believe they NEVER had GOOD no GREAT southern style cuisine. This food was hardly tasty or even appealing. 1st time and last time at this place.

First time...my last time! Food came out cold. Half order came out. Turkey bacon and Turkey Sausage has no flavor. French Toast disgusting. No cinnamon. It had no taste. The place was on the cold side. Staff was friendly thou.

Omar did a wonderful job taking care of my girlfriend and I this morning for breakfast! We def chose the perfect place to stop on our trip back home! The strawberry french toast was delish & breakfast was served within 10 mins of us ordering! Very very pleased!

My girlfriend and I have been finding ourselves here on a weekly basis lately. The food is always excellent and ready in a timely manner no matter how busy they are. Sometimes the wait is longer than others but that is no fault of theirs. They are consistent in their service. There are occasional hiccups but nothing unforgivable.

When I worked out at Quantico, this was my go-to spot for breakfast & lunch. You couldn't beat the prices for the quality of food received. The waitresses were always pleasant & courteous. After a few months of going, they pretty much knew they'd see me each week for breakfast or lunch.. or sometimes both in the same day. The daily lunch specials were very economical and always kept my belly full. I fell in love with the blueberry pancakes, apple streusel French toast, hash brown casserole and the berry cobbler that was served with Blue Bell ice cream. Yes lawd!!!

I love Cracker Barrel for breakfast, but have never tried anything from the lunch or dinner menu. So, I went out on a limb and ordered the chef salad. It was really great. The greens were fresh and crisp and it had an equal amount each of roasted turkey breast, chopped bacon, and sugar cured ham. It also had sliced cucumbers, grape tomatoes, and yummy homemade croutons. It is served with 2 deviled eggs on top which was an excellent addition. This location is always PACKED. The service was a little slow this time but all in all it was a great meal.

Constantly crowded, so the 3 star & lower reviews are bogus...I have never been disappointed! I have come here several times and the food is always delicious. Do places or people who work there have off days? Of course, we all do! I'm not gonna hold it against the restaurant. :)

The food is excellent, customer service very good,I wish they can change the structure of this restaurant especially inside because the eco of the people talking make this place loud is hard to hear ,hard to have a conversation ,difficult to hear the servers.

  • Danielle F.

This was my first experience at Cracker Barrel and lets just say I was not impressed. The only reason it is not a 1-star rating is the service. Our waitress was attentive and courteous, she provided great customer service. I ordered a sampler plate that came with ham, chicken and dumplings, meatloaf and sides: hash brown casserole, green salad and grits. The ham was okay, but very salty. The chicken and dumplings and meatloaf were pretty much inedible. The hash brown casserole was probably the best thing on the plate. I usually love grits and these grits were terrible and flavorless--I don't think they used any salt or butter at all. I will not be excited to visit another Cracker Barrel any time soon.

After reading the previous reviews I had to chime in. First you don't go to CB for gourmet food. It's a down home place for regular old cookin. Check the star level on ur server as soon as they come to u. That will prepare u for the level of service to expect. Newbies may forget a few things while higher stars always bring extras. I rarely get bad service even from the rising stars but hey on busy weekends and esp Sunday, stuff happens. Don't go on Sunday after churches let out bc you will wait every single time. Especially of u have more than 2 in ur party. BE NICE to everyone there. It goes a long way. As for the food. Hey know the place. Ur getting good home cooking without five star flare. I know not to order anything fancy bc they may not do it well. I love the staples and never go wrong with them. And best of all, it's super cheap and u can feed ur family for way less than most any other restaurants.

  • Tami F.

LOVE the barrel!! Great bacon and pancakes! Once seated the service is quick! Sunday's are always busy! I couldn't give a fifth star cause it's a Cracker Barrel lol

Have been waiting for over an hour. They have consistently sat parties that came in after us. Consistently reminded the hostess to split our group to sit us faster. Again sat parties that came in after us. Will probably never return to have Sunday breakfast here. Arrived at 930 it's now 1040 still waiting.

My friend and I visited this Cracker Barrel just this morning. I was super excited about eating there as it had been a while since I last ate there and I was craving some pancakes and biscuits. Our server was nice, but the food wasn't great and I left the store knowing that IHOP is much better. 1) The last pancake at the bottom was burnt. This was the 2nd or 3rd time this has happened to my friend too. They didn't have much flavor in them and I needed 2 syrup bottles for the pancakes. Plus the syrup didn't add much flavor at all either. 2) My scrambled eggs were cold but what made it nice was the cheese even though its more than $1 extra. 3) The first bacon strip was fine, the other 2 were too crunchy, verging on a little burnt. Besides that, everything was fine to me. My parents went here a long time ago and had a pretty bad experience. This was only my second time which might've explained why I didn't alert my server to the less than stellar food. Not sure if I will ever return. IHOP, Denny's much better in my opinion.

If you've been to one Cracker Barrel you've been to them all. Great food, good service and location. Be patient if you're going on a Sunday after church.

I hate how much I like this place. Denny's needs to look, taste, and feel a lot more like this! I am from the California and Cracker Barrel has yet to exist on this side! In 5 days, I came to Cracker Barrel twice: Once for breakfast and once for dinner. Breakfast, I went big and got Uncle Hershel's Favorite with a grilled pork chop. That hashbrown casserole is MUST. And the apple butter goes with everything. Grits was off the chain, it was grainy and well textured. It was also a huge breakfast for less than $10. Yum yum yuum. Dinner, well I'm all about dumplings, so I was intrigued by the dumplin's! I got me the Chicken and Dumplin's platter with green beans, collard greens, and okra. All of those sides, especially the okra, were very good. It is no wonder that the dumplin's are a favorite. I want it now again and already! Cracker Barrel, please open shop over here in Los Angeles! It's cheap, tasty dining - with shopping before or after! It's like going to a mini theme park! :D

Man , why you forgot my deviled eggs on my "to-go" chicken salad. We are all adults hete and you are running a business. The picture shows egg in menu, " so where my eggs" ? It like kids, we always got to check on you folks at cracker barrel. Good Lord, Is it so difficult to get it right ?

We ate here Sunday right after church service and it was packed. I ordered the chicken livers and I'm happy to report that I inhaled it, our server was an older gentleman and he was great, glad to see they give jobs to the old and young people. Love the shop, love the food, all around great, will have to come back here again soon!

I love breakfast and Cracker Barrel is one of the best chains for real American food with that down-home, country style. They certainly beat the pants off of Perkins or Bob Evans that's for sure. And you just have to love the Old Country Store stocked to the walls with traditional Americana and their vintage gifts, snacks and sweets. This store in Dumfries is a little less quality than the one's I'm used to. This place always seems really quiet and empty. The service I experienced was slow, the silverware was not clean and my food came to me luke warm. Usually I'm a big fan of Cracker Barrel, but this particular location gives me pause. The only reason I would come back here is because it's the closest CB to my home. But then again, I think I might just take the extra time to visit the one in Manassas.

Cheap food and they serve breakfast all day... with biscuits!!!

Typical Cracker Barrel service and fare. Right off the highway next to a Waffle House. As usual crowed on Sundays after church and on holidays. Service is usually above average but you can really distinguish the brand new servers. But this location does have the majority of servers with multiple stars on their apron, so they do have some experienced staff.

I love Cracker Barrel's breakfast. It is very hearty and they stick to what they know best, which is good ole country cooking. In all of the CB locations that I had ever been to, I find that they are very consistent with the flavor and the quality of the food offer. The prices are very reasonable. Even though my family sometime arrived during their busy hours, we always received the food and drinks in a timely manner. The service that we received at this location is very good. Our sever continuously came by to checked on us and made sure that our coffee cups are refilled promptly. Overall, I don't think my review would make a difference to anyone wanting to eat here as CB is very successful restaurant chain.

Way too crowded. 45 minute wait on a Sunday afternoon. Waitress served well, and was very polite. The cook waited until we were served our food to inform us that one of our dishes wasn't allowed to be served past 12. The waitress once again served quickly by getting his order in and back with his replacement in less than a minute. The food was average at best, and my burger was quite soggy when it was served. I asked for medium, got well. My problem with this restaurant was how crowded it was, and the quality of the food.

Food here is great...It's delicious and tastes home-cooked... What IS gourmet food anyway?? I come from LA where comparable places taste WORSE and are more EXPENSIVE than the Barrel... Also, the help is friendly and intelligent...not like LA again...Geez.... I'm depressed... Either this place is really 5 stars or restaurants SUCK in my part of the country. I'll come back again before I leave! Thanks!

Portions seem like they have been almost cut in half. Meatloaf was dried up; corn bread was almost burnt; small dried out sweet potato. We probably won't be back, not worth the price.

Always a pleasure to come here for a family breakfast. The food is delicious and decently priced. Love the knick knack store and the southern hospitality rocking chairs out front. It's always a long wait to get a seat and for the food to come out. But once it does, you understand why you waited. The apple butter and those biscuits, the fried apples are unique to this place. I go back whenever I can.

This restaurant ran out of chicken and dumplings. How does a Cracker Barrel run out? Really?

Great breakfast and great service. However, the bathrooms need serious attention. Pancakes are always great. Best toppings of anyplace.

Horrific service. Lazy. Moves in slow lotion. Attitude. Manager approached the hostess about her attitude in a quiet and professional manner and she complains she is tired. There is barely even anyone in here and it took 10 mins for my coffee and still waiting for food. Over 20 mins. Everyone is moving in slow motion an completely oblivious to having a table or two. Servers are yelling to each other as if there are no customers. Will never return! Would rate it zero stars due to service if that was an option.

I seem to remember this place as being much better.... Took my kids for a day out thinking that they would enjoy the country store and nice lunch. We were all disappointed. They found some trinkets in the store that were OK and fortunately we purchased them before lunch since the service was so slow they needed something to keep them occupied. The food was pretty bland. My daughters pancakes tasted bad (didn't even know that was possible). The waitress only refilled drinks once, so my kids shared my water with me. When I mentioned that the pancakes were bad and asked to order something else, she didn't take them, charged me for them anyway and brought my little girl a burnt burger instead. We had to ask other waiters and waitresses to help us out with boxes (and a coffee refill) and never did lay eyes on our original server (Jillian?) again (she simply left the check on the table and disappeared). Sad. So many places to go to eat in the area to bother coming here again.

Have been here a couple of times and everytime the service has been horrible. The fredricksburg CB has had way better service. We drive farther just to go to fredricksburg CB because of the better service.

Yeah, I'm a fan...great service and good food as usual. But this time, the real treat pulled up into the parking lot just as I was about to leave - and I just had to get some pics! You see cars like this on TV - and I once saw a "rat bike" on a Rolling Thunder ride - but I never saw anything with as much STUFF as on this car! I hope you can zoom in to see the detail. This guy loves life!

This was a good Cracker Barrel... Got right in and out which was good since we were traveling. Our waitress was very friendly and attentive and the food was great!!! Not much else to say!

As far as I know this is the closest CB to DC and tends to be crowded and there can be a wait at lunchtime. The service can be a little slow at times but they've always been very friendly. The food is typical CB food and has always been fresh and hot. I recently had the country fried steak with fried okra, green beans, cinnamon apples, and served with buttermilk biscuits and cornbread. The food was excellent and well worth the food coma I was in all afternoon (no I wasn't driving)! If you want a good southern meal along the road at a good price, this is the place for you.

I go here to this specific Cracker Barrel on a Weekly Basis. I hike over at the Prince William park to earn my right to eat fatty and artery clogging foods. I have to say, if you come here...ask to be seated in the section where La Toya is working. SHe is the BEST server over there. I have been with several differnt people and must say it was a VERY DISAPPOINTING experience...La Toya as the server will pretty much guarantee you Great Service with a beautiful smile.. P.S. Im writing about service and location and not about food cuz lets face it...Cracker Barrel is good and will taste consistantly good no matter which one you go to.....its all about the person behind the food to make that little bit of difference.

I'm a huge fan of Cracker Barrel and it's menu of comfort food. The location is set up like any other with one thing setting it apart - it's nor 'Cherry Blossom Festival busy'. Yes, it's in quotes because the festival is what I imagine the 5th plane of hell is like. But I digress. Get here and eat - only your waistline will regret it!

My review will probably be basis... only because I got oven turkey salad (which you cannot mess up on...) and dessert. The dessert is the only reason why this place is getting the review it is... the seasonal mixed berry cobbler is to die for!! I've been craving it since I left the place. Only downside is that it leaves you with food coma... or crashing because of the sugar. The party I went with enjoyed their dishes though - biscuits, meat loaf, french toast, and grilled bacon with cheese burger. Again, would go just for the seasonal mixed berry cobbler! See photos!

Horrible experience, the worse in a Cracker Barrel. On our way to Myrtle Beach, we stopped in early for breakfast and were delighted that only a few were in the place. We thought we could get in and out quickly and still have a decent breakfast. How wrong we were. First, the waitress took a long time to get our order. It took longer to finally get our food. An incomplete serving since she forgot our order of whole wheat toasts. And when it did come out, it was cold. Yup, cold toasts. It's like an oxymoron, and you can't spread butter on an oxymoron. The extra crispy bacon we wanted? I had pieces barely cooked. Needless to say, we'll skip this place next time, and you should too.

Love Cracker Barrel in Dumfries. Wish they'd put omelets on the menu. The omelets are what usually make me go to the I-Hop, across the road.

I love this place for breakfast. It has some good home cooked country taste. We had Tiffany as our waitress and she was awesome. I have been going to Cracker Barrel for 20 years, and she was the best waitress we have ever had at Cracker Barrel. The food taste great and is a good value for the money. Their blueberry pancakes are great, so are the biscuits and gravy, and the hash brown casserole.

Same old style like we're used to. The setting is country classic. They have a visitors buying area as you enter and a wooden country style dining lounge. The food tastes bland though. More bland than I'm used to. I'd compare their food to the Old Country Buffet. Missing modern day American flavors.

Love Cracker Barrel specially for breakfast! Never had any issues @ the Dumfries location, good old fashioned food. About as close to home cooked as possible.

Not up to par. It's only asset is being close to DC but the food is awful and the management even worse. I stopped in for an early dinner and the food came out cold and the portion sizes wrong. So much so that the waitress kept apologizing and told us the kitchen must be off. For the food we did have, it was just not good. The Cracker Barell sampler was just awful, there is no other way to say it. The meatloaf fatty, chicken and dumplings with no chicken and the sides all cold and soggy. The manager came over and we mentioned our disappointment, yet he didn't do anything, like offer to bring hot food. I then e-mailed corporate and called the store, none of them responded. For a place that prides itself on southern hospitality and cooking, this Dumfries location has a long way to go. It's almost like a fake CB. And that;s a shame. Don't stop here when driving I-95, you will regret it.
