VT Inn is a great find and I am hesitant to expose this gem! If you are looking for a place to stay this isn't your typical hotel and has all the loved Blacksburg charm - VT Inn is your spot. It is a perfect B&B just off campus and a couple blocks from downtown. We were there on an off weekend and had the entire house to ourselves. Eric, the inn keeper, is great - on arrival he showed us the house amenities and gave us a full tour. He asked what time we would like breakfast each morning and over our two night stay were treated to made to order omeletsand stuffed strawberry french toast. Both meals were supplemented with some wonderful baked goods made Eric's mom! There is something great about waking up in a comfortable bed in a place that feels like home to the smell of freshly brewed coffee and breakfast - this is just an all around winner for me! The only item that I saw as an issue and it is really more of an FYI - the upper floor of the house shares a single bathroom. The original thought around this B&B is that 10+ who all know each other would rent the house, making sharing a non-issue.

Sub Station II

One of my favorite places to get a sub in Blacksburg. For me it's something about the bread. IMHO it's much better than Subway, Jimmy John's or Quizno's. My favorite is the #13. A bit of a calorie bomb, but it's worth it.
Good sandwiches with fresh ingredients. People are friendly and they cut the meats and cheese right in front of you. It's nothing terribly spectacular but it's considerably better than subway for me.
Really good subs. The menu is super easy to read and the meat is fresh and amazing! I can't think of anything bad to say about Sub Station. It's not expensive and I adore the pickles. I love it so much!

Within the corporate research center, or CRC, this place does pretty good. It's a great place to quickly take someone that is visiting your business that isn't to fancy. The food that I've had here has always been delicious with variety of options without being too much. The burgers here are certainly great and much much better than you'll find at a fast food place. The sandwiches I have had have also been great! The turkey Reuben stands out in my mind as a great flavor. Certainly recommend the chips as a side and not the ones in a bag. They have chips they make there that aren't too greasy. Down one star here as it's a little pricey and the service/facility is always a bit off. I feel as though each time I've gone in there, they were out of something like drink lids or soup containers.

Not a bad location, but I used to like them much better. When I first moved to Blacksburg, this Subway location had kiosks for ordering. When you came in, you simply punched in your order, paid, and then grabbed your sandwich when your number was called. They have since removed the kiosks, which I believe has slowed the service down. This only applies when there's actually a rush and a crowd forms (usually between classes, later in the afternoon). The staff has always been friendly and the food is good. It's nothing special, but your typical Subway sandwiches. The seating area is nice and spacious, and it's a good place to retreat to on a chilly day. All in all, it's a good choice for lunch when you're in the mood for a quick sandwich.

Get their potatoes all the time! Two of my friends and I came in Saturday morning around 10am and it was packed. The hostess told us that it would be a 20 min wait for a table but had a few open bar seats. Hungry for breakfast we said yes! Phew what luck! Next to us on the bar were a pile of fresh looking loaves of bread. Already excited to order and we didn't have to wait long to have our order taken despite the morning rush! As we waited for our food, I could peek into a bit of their kitchen where slices of bread were being dipped and grilled for their walnut banana french toast, eggs being cracked and sizzled, and potatoes tossing and turning in the frying pan! It took about 15-20 min to have our food arrive. One of my friends got the beautiful french toast, with a side of potatoes, my other friend got the poached eggs dish and I got the frittata. We all loved it! But in short, they have good service even when busy and have excellent potatoes!
I came with high hopes for Gillie's Cuisine, which was recommended both by Yelp and by locals. I give them all credit for providing hearty fare that draws meat eaters to a vegetarian(ish) restaurant. Alas, though I came twice, I was disappointed each time. The first time, I got the Greek pasta salad. No composed salad here--just an undistinguished (and soggy) amalgam of penne, spinach, and a creamy sauce. Undeterred, I returned for a late breakfast, ordering the spinach florentine with smoked salmon. This was a thin bed of raw spinach, followed by a soggy slice of (beefsteak?) tomato, and then a thin slice of buttered toast topped with smoked salmon, then two poached eggs and a garlicky cream sauce. The sauce was good. The tomato was out of place and of a lesser quality than I would expect at this time of year. It was fine, and I'd probably come here regularly if I lived in Blacksburg. I just didn't love it. Oh, well.
This is one of the better restaurants in Blacksburg. The brunch is outstanding - I especially like the banana walnut French toast and anything with potatoes. The fresh juices are great too. I always get a carrot Apple ginger juice for me and my son. At lunch, my favorite dishes are the tofu Reuben and blackened catfish sandwich. Both are really flavorful.

Pizza is stellar, maybe the best in Blacksburg. Their sandwiches are great too. Stop thinking about it and just GO.
Great service and excellent food!! Could work on the crab cakes a bit...that's coming from a girl from Virginia Beach. :-).
Cellar did not let me down this time. Ordered Loaded Curly Fries for appetizer, which was large enough for a party of four. I went to the basics, and ordered the Mac Daddy Meat Ball with the marinara spaghetti base, which entailed toasted garlic bread, which is light and soft. The portion size was generous, with two fistful-sized meatballs seasoned well. We ordered Frank Rizzo, which I cannot comment on, because I was too full at this point and we had a box to-go. My advice stands firm: Excellent restaurant, but avoid the rush hours.
