I was really excited to try this place based off all the reviews. Went here mid week at around 4pm and it was completely empty. Walked up and ordered the half chicken with a side of fries with the peri peri mayo sauce. Sat down and it came out shortly later. Overall it was decent. I really equate it to Peruvian chicken places though ( even though it's completely different flavors the concept is still pretty much the same), and at the end of the day I'd rather have that. The chicken was good, and seasoned well. I got it mild and it was plenty spicy. I added the garlic sauce to it. It was a little on the dry side. The mayo was good but nothing amazing. At the end of the day I'll probably go with some Peruvian rotisserie chicken, as you usually get more sides, bigger chicken that's moister, and I like the sauces and seasonings more for a little cheaper price.

I have been hearing very good reviews and comments about this place, finally tried it for the first time. Can't beat the bon chon chicken though, nothing special about the sauces - i really wanted to try mango and lime sauce but they didnt have it. Interior design is nice. That was it.

This place is having severe identity crisis. Is it a sit down restaurant with menus, or is it a line based counter restaurant? When you first step in, you're greeted, seated, and handed a menu while a number is placed on your table. You're then told, "Go order at the counter, and we'll bring the food." Okay, so why did you just seat me? I could have just gone to the counter, ordered my food, and then found my own seat. They don't bring you silverware, refill drinks, bring napkins, or anything else beyond your food, so why bother at all? You may as well just call out numbers and people can pick up their own food. Staff are unfriendly. The young lady who brought our hummis to the table had no smile, no energy, and when she disappeared and came back with something called PERi-PERi sauce which she said we're, "Supposed to put it on the hummis," offered no explanation as to what the mysterious bottle of sauce was, what it tasted like, and furthermore why we were "supposed" to put it on top. Price wise - Total rip off. We ordered half a chicken which came with two sides. In addition we ordered some fire grilled corn on the cob. The side dishes were skimpy - Portioned out for just one person, and the chicken was probably the smallest pieces of chicken I've ever seen served at a restaurant. It was incredibly disappointing to walk out of the restaurant unsatisfied for almost thirty-five dollars. The most disappointing part to all of this was that for the most part the food tasted great. My only complaint was the corn on the cob which whoever was preparing it didn't bother to remove all the silk from it. But again, for the price, the food to dollar ratio is just way off. Sadly, I'd like to return to Nando's PERi-PERi, but won't at that price to portion ratio. WARNING - For parents with small children, Nando's has a small stone heart shaped sink in the corner of the restaurant where patrons can wash their hands. This water was SCALDING. and I saw no knobs to adjust the temperature. Your children will burn their hands if this is not adjusted.

Just left this new outpost of a local, DC based fast casual chain and really liked it. The space is funky and well designed with lots of seating and space. They seat you like a traditional restaurant but you self order and pay -- then they deliver the food. Had the hummus appetizer and it was very good with the spicy Peri Peri drizzle. Husband had the 1/2 grilled mango lime chicken and it was juicy with nice blackened char flavor as well. I had the nutty date chicken salad with greens--very different and delicious--pickled onions gave it a twist. Even in the salad the chicken had some heat. We had one service issue/question and the manager came right out and over corrected it generously. Nice addition to our local options! Go try it!

Don't play around with the average half or quarter chicken. Get the stuff that is out of your comfort zone. You'll realize how awesome peri peri is. The best item by far is the Nandocas Choice. Don't think twice about ordering it. It is the best sandwich that you'll ever have. At least it will fall in your top ten. The description doesn't do it justice. Don't be a bitch about it. Just get it with lemon and herb and then add hotter sauce to it. I go here so much that it is freaking embarrassing. The wait staff know me and shake my hand now when I come in. I wish there were another nandos in the area so I can spread my presence out a bit. Anywyas, go eat there, get the Nandocas choice, don't get the half chicken, you can get that later.

Portuguese-style food~Am I back in Fall River, Massachusetts!!! Yea, Nando has immigrated to the long lost suburb of Ashburn. OVERALL: Been to several others and this one has the best layout and decor. Food was perfect and I was thinking about 4.5 stars... maybe after another visit if they keep it up. FOOD: Their chicken is moist, flavorful and if you get it spicy it packs a punch... I mean a peri-peri punch of flavor that leaves your taste buds feeling like they were knocked out in a Rocky movie. The mash potatoes taste home-made and not that phony taste like other expensive restaurants, like Red Canyon in National Harbor (inner voice). The fries and the perinaise dip (I think I spelled that wrong) was a nice light but with a kick substitute for ketchup. Great drink selection and definitely need to try their happy hour pitcher for $5.95. SERVICE: Very friendly staff and quick! Always willing to help. BOTTOM-LINE: Definitely worth the trip. Food is great and so is there service... just be careful of the hot sauces because HOT means HOT!

My dining experience started off with a 4 star rating and dropped to a 3 upon departure. The chicken is good, and I love the crisp texture of the skin. The peas were interesting but did not leave such a big impression that I would want to order it again. The garlic bread was delicious and very buttery. The Portuguese rice was okay and forgettable. The prices are a bit higher than what I'd be comfortable paying for the amount of food we got. Chicken livers looked and tasted more like steak. Decor is lovely and fun. Restaurant is very loud when packed. Expect to shout at your table mates. Service could be better. The cashier had trouble communicating the menu and explaining how side dishes were paired with the entrees. He also told us that corn was not in season, much to our disappointment because our family really loves grilled corn. When we finished our meal, we discovered that the grilled corn was actually an available menu item and was most definitely in season. That was very disappointing since the corn was the top reason we wanted to eat there (second to the chicken). I hesitate to return based on that experience.

Thoroughly enjoyed my visit here for dinner on a Thursday evening. The Husband and I wanted a quick bite for date night since we were limited on time. The service here is quick and the staff is efficient. The decor is nice and the We both shared the hummus and the pita with peri peri drizzle as the appetizer which was delicious. The drizzle comes in a cute mini bottle so you can drizzle how much you desire. It's spicy so be careful to not drench your pita unless you enjoy the heat. I ordered the 1/4 leg in the lime and herb rub with red mashed potatoes and mashed peas. The chicken was flavorful and moist. There is a variety of sauces that can be found at the condiment counter. I tried a little of each one. The peas were delicious and had a kick to them. It went well with a cold refreshing blue moon. The Hubs ordered the 1/4 leg in the mango lime rub with the grilled corn on the cob and Portuguese rice. He enjoyed it and wished he ordered a larger portion of chicken. Next time we want to try something different. We can't wait for our next visit and we'll bring our Toddler along to try the kid'd menu.

Yo nando's peri peri is veri veri good!! First off be warned when they say hot they mean hot. The extra hot had me foaming at the mouth. Went through six napkins due to all the nose drip lmao I'm playing. If you are not sure what to get for your side dish go with the peas. They were so good that I asked for the recipe. I know I don't like peas like that either but these peas had me in my feelings. I called up three ex girlfriends to tell them about these peas lmao I'm playing. Although its a new place the service was quick and flawless. The decor is also quite unique and very notable. The staff is young and fun a couple of the girls that worked there happen to be very notable as well if you know what I mean lmao I'm playing 5/5 WILL GO AGAIN

Yes! I'm so happy they finally have a yelp! I've been there twice since they opened and this place is ON POINT! The staff is so well trained, there's always someone generally interested in how out experience is going. The food is exceptional, both times I've ordered the chicken Caesar wrap and the flavors are amaZing. Even if you do not like spicy food, this place is a must. On our first visit, one of the waitresses noticed we were scoping out the cupcakes and brought us over two complimentary cupcakes!!! How sweet of her, I will definitely be coming back here A LOT.

Nando's recently opened at One Loudoun and seems to be amongst the most popular options - for good reason! The well appointed restaurant has a great, cool vibe. The staff is friendly and helpful. The food is always task and well cooked. I have yet to experience any under or over cooked chicken and the sides are interesting and unique. I have only had pleasant experiences there. Another bonus is the speed of service makes it great if you are dining with young children although the self service drinks and ordering could be an issue for parents flying solo. Nando's isn't a favorite for my family and I am always satisfied with the food, the service and the price. Just be cautious that Nando's does get busy during lunch and dinner rush so there is a chance of a wait but the restaurant is large and tables turn over quickly.

Great place. Brand new. Had their Chicken Caesar Wrap and their Butter squashed and Couscous Salad and their frozen yogurt. The atmosphere was nice and relaxing. Not crowded at all. Definitely recommend it.

First time here and ordered the Butterfly Chicken breast with two sides-macho peas and garlic bread to go. Got home and couldn't believe how small chicken breast was, it was very, very small and not worth the $14 I paid for. Peas were good, nice take on them. Garlic bread was great! Chicken needed more sauce and was burned. Called and the manager apologized and said my next meal was on him. He was very nice. Went back 2/3/15 and ordered the same thing. Chicken breast was much bigger this time and very good. The serving sizes of the sides is quite small though. I find it hard to pay $14 for the minimal amount of food you get. Not sure if I'll return.

Mmmm! Good chicken! We have eaten here several times. The garlic bread is buttery and nice and garlicky. Others in the family like the peas. The price is right and the ambience nice for a casual meal.

I have been to the one in National Harbor and recently this location. The service was great. I ordered 1/4 ckn and 12 wings with my favorite lemon and herb sause. Food came out quick and even though there was an issue it was corrected quickly. Great staff and great atmosphere.

The spicy chicken with a south African twist to it ....is amazing! Hands down one of my favorite restaurant! Recommend this place to all my friends not one has said that they don't like it. I have been there at least 25 times! And deftly will be back....get "nandocas choice" and add some cheese to it! Also ask for there mayo sauce !

My first experience with Nando's came as a result of being a poor college student in urban London. Now that I'm firmly planted in Virginia, it was thrilling to find one so close to my new home! This particular Nando's is new, so it is very well-kept and clean. My husband and I arrived after 8pm, so seating was instant. The staff was very nice and I thought were being attentive to those that requested assistance. It is a VERY family friendly, so expect lots of kids (but they were amazingly well-behaved when we went). Tips for first-time visitors: -A host seats you but you order and pay at the counter. You also need to gather your utensils and sauces at another table. Soda/Water is also self-serve. A server will bring you your food or beer/wine based on the number on your table. -I am very sensitive to spice, so BEWARE! The Mango/Lime and Lemon/Herb sauces are for those who want taste without killing some tastebuds. Some like it hot, so they do have extra hot sauces available. Even the garlic and herb sauces have a kick to them. -If you're going for chicken, get the half-chicken. One reason this restaurant gets 4 stars is that the chicken portions are smaller than normal. My usual meal is a Mango/Lime quarter chicken with chips (fries) and corn. Small portions but DELICIOUS. -Eat with your hands! There is a sink outside the restroom (single stall types) so you can easily wash afterwards. -Skip the custard. It's not bad, but probably more fitting for the little ones.

  • Timothy M.

Awesome food. Loved the chicken, butternut squash, pea mash, and chicken livers. A little confusing to order because they sit you first then you have to get up to order. But next time will be easy. Love this place. Mountcastle Plastic Surgery & Vein Institute office approves.

This place is amazing. The customer service was great here and truly made me feel welcomed. I think this is one of the best chicken you will ever have. Don't hesitate. Try them out and you won't be disappointed. A must have for you squash fans is their butternut squash and corn side. Your stomach will like you better for having it!

    (4)
  • David T.

The chicken here is average. They seem to keep on running out of silverware. The only reason why I'm giving it three stars is because of the varieties of spices you can select from for your food.

We've been curious to try Portuguese food and hearing about Nandos I had a feeling I would like it after reading the reviews and the menu. When you walk in your seated and given a table number. Your instructed by the waitress to walk to the counter and order your food when you are ready, remember your table number for them to deliver your food to you. Different if you are use to being waited on. I ordered a Lemon & Herb, two 1/4 Legs & Thighs with macho peas and grilled corn. However, they ran out of the macho peas, so I selected garlic bread instead. My husband ordered a flamed grilled chicken breast choosing the spicy extra hot with grilled corn and Portuguese rice. I thought the serving was big, I was only able to eat one chicken. There are sauces and dressings available for you to choose, we brought back two different types, but did not use them, since our meal had enough marinade. Well, next time I will try there dessert. I enjoyed the food and love the menu options.

First time here with another couple. Our friend from London has had the experience and was excited for us to try it. The decor is pretty neat with the pre-termite eaten wood everywhere. The yellow half round booths and the I guess African T-Pe? I half expected Shaka Zulu to show up .The outside community wash basin is a great feature. Now the food: way over priced! My chicken was good and presented in such a way that it seamed a jeep ran over the bird first then they thru it on the grill.I paid something like $48.00 for one chicken breast, one half chicken ,1 beer, 1 soda and 2 sides?I think once here was enough for me.Oh and the after burner hot sauces are not that great.Ok food, no value for the buck(go to any Peruvian chicken joint or remember Boston market?).

Nando's brings a fresh and new experience to the dinning experience in Ashburn, whether its the rich flavored food or the fantastic service provided by waiters and hosts such as Kendall and the other hard working employees, definitely a place I will continue eating at regularly!

Food is good but the service needs a lot of help. Service is going down the drain with each visit. Our food took over 40 min to arrive and they had no knives and had only 3 forks. Upon asking the waitress, she said they were being washed and we had to wait and didn't even make an attempt to find them. I asked guy at the counter and he pulled them out from inside the cabinet. At least this guy had the minimum courtesy to apologize for the inconvenience unlike the waitress who thought she was doing us a huge favor. It seems the place is understaffed. Our food was sitting at the kitchen for a good 15-20 min before the waitress brought it our table. The checkout folks at the counter were multi-tasking - they were getting plates, glasses from the kitchen and serving alcohol to the tables in addition to ringing customers. This was adding to the delays at the checkouts. I felt sorry for the customers who had to put up with the delays and the careless attitude of some staff. I also felt sorry for some of the hardworking staff who were working as fast as humanly possible but couldn't help as they were short handed. I hope the owners take notice and fix the said problems.

We normally do take out from here, but beware if lucas picks up the phone. You know when you talk to someone, and they just seem iritated and not wanting to be helpful? Well - that was him. So i shouldn't have been surprised when we got the home that our order was wrong. He read the order back to us correctly, but then had it on or receipt incorrectly. This shows that he purposely messed up our order. Beware if you call in an order, and check it before you leave or you'll be disappointed when you get home!

Fun place! Not a vast menu but sometimes that's best. I didn't venture much from what I know, though based on what I chose, and how it tasted, I wish now that I had strayed from my comfort zone. I do like that they have grilled corn on the cob! I didn't get any, but still a positive. I had 6 grilled wings plain. They had the marinade on them and I was interested in that so I left them without sauce. The marinade was great! Very nicely spiced and the wings were grilled perfect! A little crispy in the right places :) I also had hummus with pita bread and peri-peri olive oil drizzle. It was decent. I've had better but would get again. I had sangria to drink. It didn't taste homemade, but it was good. The fruit was large and took up half the glass, so I didn't feel I really got a 5oz serving. Didn't have dessert. I didn't notice it was inconvenient to get another glass of sangria since I didn't have a server and the line at the time of need was to the door. Atmosphere was a little odd. Some areas for "sit down stay a while" and some for quick non-comfy tables; didn't really seem to mesh. Overall good and I would go back if future adventures permit. The one Loudoun area in general is great!! I didn't know there was so much back there!!!

I will start out by saying that the food was very good. Everything we had was quite tasty. Now, to the lack of stars...I had two big issues with my visit. First off, the way they sat the patrons was odd. I will try to explain. Seems they seat the entire perimeter of the place first. So, there is one table after another filled in order. We sat next to someone who was just seated and someone sat next to us right after we sat down. Very strange...why would you not spread out the customers? Secondly, I don't know who designed the customer flow but they should be reassigned to say...street sweeping. The drink station (only one) is one of those drink machines which dispense a gazillion types of drink. So far so good...but, it is positioned at a place where servers bring food from the kitchen AND the order line ends. So there is an intersection of 3 major traffic flows at this one spot. If there is more than one person at the one drink machine for the place then they are in the way of both servers and new patrons. I am just baffled at the layout. Who decided to put the ONLY drink dispenser right there at that spot? I had to refill my water twice, and twice I had to dodge people and move out of the way of others to get my water. The bottom line is I will condider going again since the food was very good and will hope to find the drink machine in another location.

  • PJ K.

You'd think 3rd time would be the charm...not in this case. My first visit, I got my order to go and they forgot my chicken. 2nd visit, I waited forever for my meal. They totally forgot about it. 3rd visit, I waited 15 minutes for a coffee, when all they had to do was push a button. Plus, my friends order was completely forgotten about. And what did I witness behind the counter? A lot of socializing among the workers. Not impressed with this place. And the times I was there, it wasn't even busy!

The new Nando's in Ashburn is just a stones throw away for me. The food is amazing and the service is great too. It has a great atmosphere and is a very nice place to enjoy a great time with friends. I will be back!

Someone told me about nando's, so I decided to try it for lunch one day with my grandma. Overall, very good! The service was excellent, the staff were attentive and personable, and the food was very good! We went on a Thursday around 1:15, so there was a little bit of a lunch rush while we were there. We ordered two chicken sandwiches, and they were ready in 10 minutes, faster than I expected. The sandwiches were exactly as we ordered (both my grandma and I are very picky eaters), and tasted very good! The peri mayo that they put on the sandos was a little hot, but added good flavor. The lemon&herb spice on the chicken is very flavorful, but a little spicy - I would absolutely recommend it. Didn't have dessert - maybe next time?

  • Katrina D.

We've ate at Nando's twice now. Not only is it in a convenient location, but the food is good and it's a nice atmosphere inside. Since it is new, they definitely have a few kinks to work out but you can tell the staff has good customer service and are trying their best. I liked the chicken and mashed potatoes. Unfortunately the fries are frozen then fried, not fresh, so they are a bit soggy. Also, everything is pretty darn spicy, even the mild sauces have a kick to them. On our 2nd trip there I ordered the Nandocas' Choice which is a grilled chicken sandwich topped with cole slaw. I don't think I even had a tablespoon worth of cole slaw on that sandwich, which was pretty disappointing as it was then just chicken and bread.

This is a nice chicken joint. It's new and has good food. You order at the front, so no waiters or waitresses. They do bring the food to you though. Many different choices to choose from. I believe it's Portuguese.

My husband and I decided to try Nando's Peri Peri on a whim after seeing a movie at the Alamo Drafthouse. We both had the grilled chicken breast with the medium spiced seasoning, plus grilled corn and garlic bread. The chicken was tender and flavorful with a nice char. The restaurant decor is unique, earthy, fun, and cool--very fitting for a Portuguese style restaurant. Love the birdcage booth seating (just adorable)! All in all, we liked this restaurant and plan to visit again.

  • W C.

First I'll say that I liked the chicken, the butternut squash and the peas enough to try this place again, but the verdict is still out for the future and I would probably opt for carry-out. I've read where some people think the chicken pieces are too small but I think they are what we all used to expect before hormones were added to our poultry, so no complaint from me there. They were very skimpy on the rice and it was a little dry but if anything keeps me from going there again, it will be cleanliness. When we opened our menus, one was smeared with food and the other had an actual chunk of food in it. I took them back to the hostess and asked for clean ones. Our table was sticky and I realized why when the hostess came back to clean off the one next to us and she shot three squirts of liquid onto the table and took three swipes at it, not cleaning the whole table but just knocking the visible food to the floor and onto the chair where it was then left. I actually had to ask her to aim the bottle the other way because the stream of cleaning solution hit me as she was squirting it. To be fair, I saw another young man cleaning tables and he appeared to be doing a thorough job. After we ordered our food, we were pointed toward the sauce area, where we were supposed to select bottles of any sauce and salad dressing we might want and take them to our table. The bottles were absolutely disgusting. Both slimy, wet, fingerprinted and crusted on sauces covered the sides of the bottles. We picked up one bottle using a napkin and tried not to look at it. I have to say that I am not a clean freak at all, but this place needs some serious attention from management.

Wonderful, delicious food. Friendly service (especially Nikita who served me last time) with a smile. I love this place. If you are a fan of chicken, you must give this place a try.

Sooo happy a nandos opened up in Virginia. We usually have to go to Maryland harbor to go to nandos. So this is great. Perfectly cooked chicken. Reasonable pricing. Family of 4. We ate for 35 bucks. The garlic bread is so good. Only complaint is that it's really cold inside the restaurant lol but great place to bring the family. The whole plaza area is really nice. Perfect for families and kids.

I love this place!! I enjoy the contemporary atomosphere that you would get in DC. I love the food! Every time I order online my food is always ready. The staff is excellent especially the assistant manager Nikita Straker, she is very concerned about the customers and makes sure that every need is met. Again if you are looking for a cool place with great food. This is a place that will not let you down.

Not all that impressed. Chicken was dry and not as flavorful as anticipated. Garlic bread was tasty. Mashed peas were good. No burning desire to return.

Seems a little more orgainized during my last visit. Still confusing that they seat you like a full service restaurant, but then you have to order at the counter. This makes large groups very tricky if you are all on one check. Food is good, my only issues are with their process.

This was my first time after reading and hearing so many great things. I didn't really know what to order and I think I ordered the wrong thing. I was a little disappointed after all the hype......but will most likely try it again. I ordered the 1/4 chicken breast 'medium' with a side of rice. The chicken was not super spicy but was had a nice kick to it. I didn't taste any real flavor or spice - just the heat. That was disappointing. The chicken was a little dry. The rice was boring. My husband had the same chicken with the side of rice with the sauce. The rice were okay - a little limp and the sauce was underwhelming. I was surprised they charged and extra .75 for a side of spiced up mayo! Really.....it couldn't be included. He also go a side salad which looked good but hard to eat in the tiny bowl it was served in. We also got a side of garlic bread which was good - hard to make bad garlic bread. I was told I should have ordered the butternut squash and one of the other flavors of chicken. I guess I'll go back another time and order that next time! Live and learn.......

  • Jaeau O.

First time eating here and really wanted to see what the hype was all about. You are seated by the host and order at the counter whenever you're ready. From several other Yelp reviews and recommendations from friends, we ended up ordering a whole chicken (mango lime) with garlic bread and butternut squash/grilled corn as sides. In addition, we got 12 chicken wings (6 medium, 6 mango lime) with Peri chips. It took about 15 minutes for the food to come out and everything is grilled to order. The chicken was grilled perfectly, not overcooked and dry. Flavor was on point but had to put some of the hot sauce to give it a little kick. Wings were pretty good too especially with the hot sauce. As far as the sides, the garlic bread complements the chicken well. The butternut squash and fries were good too but didn't really stand out. Overall, the experience and food was what I expected. I definitely would go here again. Next time, I want to try peas and coleslaw for the sides. If I'm in the mood, perhaps I'll try something on the veggie menu.

Five stars for the Peri Peri sauces alone. I like how Nando's has a combination of both counter and table service. It's a laid back atmosphere and you don't have to deal with slow waiters or waitresses to get your order. However, if you do want the service, they will provide it. There hasn't been a single thing on the menu that I've ordered and haven't enjoyed. I tried the chicken liver for the first time today, and it was dry, but still good. It was a nice change from ordering my usual lemon & herb wings with a side of rice. Expect to pay $10-$15 for your meal, but it's very much worth it. This place is also good for groups and sharing a large platter can also save you money. But my favorite part about this place (besides the sauces and the food) are the cool tables that make you feel like you're sitting in a cage/bird's nest. There's also free wifi! I just guessed the password correctly, but I'm sure you can ask the cashier if you can't figure it out.

I've visited the Nando's in Pakistan and it was more formal than the American version of Nando's, having said that...I definitely enjoyed this version a lot more! It's a very casual environment with a lot more variety on the menu :) I ordered the vegi wrap with chicken and it was delicious! Do give this place a try if you can..it's worth it :)

Although this is a chain, I was impressed by the quality of the food, the cuteness of the interior, and the helpfulness and overall attitude of the staff. Atmosphere: bright, modern, rustic. I like the long wood tables, high tops, and especially the wonderful round (colorful) booth seating. Unlike most other restaurants, here you're taken to your seat, you decide what you want, then you go up to order at the counter. There's a marker that 'saves' your table, and helps the staff find it when they deliver your food later. Condiments, silverware and drinks are also self-serve - though staff are happy to help, if you've forgotten something. Food: You prettymuch have to get the yummy chicken if you come here. That's the main point! You can order different levels of spicyness, and you can continue to customize that by adding some of the mild, medium, hot, x-tra hot, or DANGER sauces. I made a mistake and got a salad that had chicken in it... unfortunately that chicken seems to be different than the "main course" chicken - and nowhere near as good. But I did try my friend's quarter chicken. The side selection is also great - I loved the macho peas and the squash with corn (which was spicier than expected). The veggies are plentiful and fresh. I also really liked the hummus appetizer, especially the Peri Peri sauce that came with it. Service: From the hostesses to the counter to the runners and 'helpers', everyone was super friendly, patient and polite. They helped me find what I was looking for and pack up my food to-go when I needed a box. As far as quick-serve spots go, I would have no problem making Nando's a regular occurrence...

I love Nando's in general, but this location genuinely makes me happy. Located at One Loudoun , it is in a new area, and very clean. The service here is cheerful and prompt. I like being greeted and welcomed with a smile, and that has happened on both occasions I visited. I brought my family, who were from out of town, last Friday evening. We were literally all starving and very disappointed that we couldn't eat at our first choice, Uncle Julios, due to an outrageous line! I suggested Nandos because I knew the food would be fast, fresh and hearty. And I was right! We ended up ordering it to go and eating outside because the weather was perfect for a summer evening, and the square was lively with families and kids and teens. I ordered my usual, the 1/4 chicken- which is a leg and thigh. I then ordered the Portuguese rice as my side. Yum! I love the fire grilled flavor, and of course the sauces are what makes them as popular as they are. I only dare to try the medium and lemon herb sauces. And the medium has plenty of kick! I also decided to have my chicken marinated in the mango lime this time. What a great choice. It really made me feel like I was enjoying a vacation meal! I will be back and maybe one day I'll try something else!

Good & fresh food, but portions can be fairly small (these aren't your normal chicken portion sizes). I've also found it to be consistently slow in terms of waiting for food and general service. Healthy options which is a plus! Although when I ordered the kale salad I got a mixed green salad with one or two pieces of kale at best.

I love nandos. It is a very nice chain. The food is pretty good but nothing amazing. The decor of the place is amazing. It makes me happy, so I go :) this location is really busy and you will have to wait to sit down. I mostly get take out

I really like this particular Nando's location, as the decor has these cool floating nest booths. At this location, a hostess seats you, you go order at the counter, pay, and return to your table to plop your numbered chicken on the table. Utensils, sauces, and drinks are located at a self-serve table. If you've been to the other Nando's then the food is pretty much up to par with other locations. If you haven't, it's chargrilled chicken that has been basted with a spiced marinade during the cooking process. There's extra sauces (sauce = peri-peri) available table-side of all flavors and spice levels to tailor it more to your tastes as well. Mushy peas is probably one of my more favorite sides to get here.

Cool ambiance for an order at the counter spot. They even serve alcohol, which is unique for a quick order kind of place. The hummus is amazing!

My bf and I tried eating here 2 weeks ago, but they were just in-training and left the door open... Besides that mix-up, we decided to give this location a try on opening day (6/25/14). I've dined at other Nando's in Maryland, and I was curious to see how their newest held up. Here's how ordering works: Wait for the host to seat you. When you are ready to order, you go to the front counter, tell them your selection, and give them your table number. A server brings out the food to you when it's ready (There is a station to grab various sauces, utensils, water, etc., while you wait). We ordered a whole chicken meal (herb & garlic flavor), which came with 2 large sides. Our sides were Portuguese rice and mashed potatoes. It was happy hour (4-6pm), so we were able to grab a pitcher of sangria for only $5.95! What a deal! It's pretty sweet tasting, but I enjoyed it. They also have beers for $2, I think? We got an order of garlic sticks (delicious!) as well for around $3.95. Regarding the food, the chicken was very moist and flavorful. I think it was even better than the chicken at the MD locations. I tried some sauces, but they didn't blow me away; the chicken tasted fine as is.The potatoes were kind of plain, but the rice was pretty good! I wish the sides were larger, they seemed to be "small/regular" rather than "large". Another cool thing is the decor in this location; it's interesting and there are egg-shaped booths for larger parties. The aesthetics make for a unique dining experience. Overall, Nando's did a good job serving us. We didn't have to wait for a table because they weren't too busy early in the evening, and our server was a friendly and helpful guy.

It's a shame that I have to update my review on this place, I really love the food but the last two time I have bought to go food from here have been a nightmare. First time they forgot to give me my sides, and now I'm standing here waiting for food I called in and ordered 30 minutes ago because they forgot to make it And it's empty in here! So busy is not an excuse. Real shame

This place is a joke!! Saturday night date night ...this is not the place to go. No organization and rude staff makes this place not to come back to. The chicken is very small so it's actually expensive considering the small portion you get... While waiting in line to place my order I actually got into a confrontation with other customers as they were cutting in line in front of me knowing I was ahead of them. The staff is just oblivious to the ordering process and let people bypass you. it's like Black Friday o prepare to start dropping elbows to place your order for less than mediocre food. We got a table outside and asked the host if he could clean our table and he was short and rude to me and my wife... Needless to say we won't be back to this place.

All the marinades/sauces were too sour for my liking. All in all, I'm not sure what the big deal about this place is. It came across as just another chicken place with a supposed "secret" recipe but average results.

Super delicious chicken. Sides are great too - love the peas. Service is.. awkward. It's a hybrid service restaurant, so you order at a counter, then the food is delivered to your table, and they'll come to your table and check up on you. But, you're prompted for gratuity when ordering. Hmm. Plus, the staff seemed not super organized. "Been here before? OK, uhh, yeah, sit where you want." Improve the service/organization a bit, or go full service (the food and atmosphere is good enough), then it'd be a 5 star.

This place is ALWAYS hectic and packed so prepare for an average wait time of 20-30min. THE GARLIC BREAD/STICKS ARE A MUST TRY!!! SO YUMMY!!! The herbs they use on it are very tasty. I don't like how their grilled corn isn't always a side option, because it's seasonal, but I don't know if they can change that. It makes sense, I just love the corn on the cob.

Why I did not give it a 5? Price, chicken size, and wait to fill drinks..... The food its self is excellent. The chicken is grilled to perfection. We tried several sauces, all were great. The sauces is what makes this place so delicious. We ordered the Whole Chicken with 2 sides to split. We got the Fries and Garlic Bread, both were good. Next time, I am getting the corn. Our bill for whole chicken, sides and 2 drinks was just under $30. I thought the chicken should have been bigger. It was rather on the small size. The weigh in would be no where near the $5 Super chickens at Costco. They only have one of those super coke dispensers (The new tech ones with the hundreds of flavors). Unfortunately, at dinner time, there was a 10 person line waiting to fill up. The leader of the line was a kid, who was mixing the ultimate compilation. Will I go again? Probably.

The service was decent besides the bus boy interrupting us. The food was pretty good except the mashed peas were bland and cold. Price was ok and the atmosphere was nice. We MIGHT return but I wouldn't take family or friends there for a very special occasion.

I am now a fan of Portuguese food!! First off, the spot is new I'm the Ashburn area, very cute and cozy! A friend suggested we eat there and I thought it was Peruvian style chicken but nooooooo, it was way better!!! We started with 24 wing platter split with mango lime sauce and mild. Let me tell you that my mouth is watering right now!! Accompanied by a side of fries, savory garlic bread and topped off with a succulent Sangria!!! I thought I was in North Africa!! The music was appropriate and the atmosphere was warm and delicious! We ate, laughed and enjoyed the Sangria!!! Definitely will visit again!!

I had heard a lot about this place, so decided to check it out. The environment is very casual and trendy. They also offer different types of seating options, such as high tops, table seating, booths surrounded with hut typpa things, and outdoor seating. The food is brought to you by a server, but everything else is self-serving, from ordering food to getting drinks, utensils, etc. They offer chicken and vegetarian items on their menu. it may sound selective, but do not let that turn you away. The AMAZING quality of food will leave you wanting more. My wife and I tried the Flame Grilled Chicken Breast with Lemon & Herb spice, and the chicken breast sandwich with Mango Lime spice - GOTTA HAVE IT AGAIN!!

Food was good but I wasn't impressed. It was our first time there and I guess I was confused as soon as I walked in. There was a sign at the door that stated to wait to be seated. So we waited... A few mins later someone came and sat us and gave us menus. Then we sat there and waited.... with two antsy kids. Wondering why someone hasn't come to take our drink order, I walked up to the front and asked if we ordered there or at our table. So apparently we order at the counter. Just don't understand why we had to wait to be seated? Just wondering if I'm the only one who thinks this is odd? I loved the interior and design. I think they just need to work on service because there will be a lot of new customers walking into their doors not knowing that you have to order at the counter. I'm not sure if I will go back anytime soon.

I have always been a fan of Nando's . They have the best chicken ! What stood about this place was its ambiance. I guess lot of thought has gone into designing the interiors (especially the round booth seatings). I found the ambiance better than other Nandos.

We stopped in here for dinner tonight. It was probably our third visit here. Tonight I had the country chicken salad which was good. I like the grilled Halloumi cheese on the salad, though it's a bit on the salty side. The chicken was fine and you order it to whatever level of spiciness (or lack there-of) you desire. I agree with some of the other reviewers that the prices are a little on the high side for the amount of chicken that you actually get in your meal. The decor in here is fun but with the high ceilings I agree with the other reviewers that during dinner time when it's busy it can be hard to hear your dining companions when they're talking to you. Overall we like the spicy sauces that dress up the chicken so we'll be back again from time to time.

I've been wanting to try Nando's for quite some time now, so words can't express how excited I was when I found out they were coming to One Loudoun in Ashburn. So, I went there for dinner on Tuesday night and was actually surprised by the decor of the place. It's reallyyy cute! I was taken back by it actually..as I walk in with my gym clothes and runnings shoes. Luckily, the place is still considered casual, so I didn't face any judgey eyes by the staff. So..you walk in..the hostess seats you at a table and provides you with a number and the menu. You look over the menu and once you're ready to order, you go up to the counter and place your order and pay right then and there. Once your food is ready...they have somewhere bring it to your table. Yes, it's a different set up than most restaurants, but I think it works! It allows you time to thoroughly look at the menu (which it's pretty large - I was expecting just chicken cooked one way, but there's plenty of options). This, I believe, avoids long lines at the register where people would just stand and figure out what to order. It also makes it less formal than a sit down restaurant with servers, which I absolutely love! Sometimes...I just don't want that type of service. I ordered the 12 wings - hot with a side of Portuguese rice. My friend ordered half a chicken with fries ("chips"). The chicken was cooked to perfection! FULL of spicy flavor and juicy. No dry chickens here. The rice paired well with the chicken too. I also grabbed the lemon herb and garlic sauce from the sauce bar and both were really good. I LOVE spicy food and was pleasantly surprised that the hot was actually hot! Definitely a fan of this place and will most likely be a frequent customer.

So, so yummy!!! I've been a handful of times, and everything I've gotten has been delicious. Sides are my favorite, so here's my rundown: Macho peas - I was going to order these, instead of fries, because I was trying to be healthy. However, when I researched the nutrition, they were more fattening than the fries!!! Which instead of turning me off, intrigued me! These little peas who were so fattening must be to die for. I had to try them!!! Much to my dismay, they were NOT worth the calories. I'm not sure what makes them so fattening, but it isn't honest-to-goodness flavor, I'll tell you that. Skip em! Fries - good seasoning, had me reaching for more. Butternut squash and corn - holy hell, stop what you're doing and order this NOW! As someone who isn't a huge fan of squash (it's too sweet for my salt-loving side), the added corn, onion, dried cranberries, fresh cilantro and spices made it a party in my mouth! I will never falter from you, oh holy one

My husband and I have come here at least three times since it's opened. Love this place. Chicken is delicious and it's nice and spicy when you ask for it, it's very tender, never dry, and the sides and sauces are amazing. We usually get a whole chicken to share between the two of us (dark meat and white meat) and for the sides we get coleslaw, fries and garlic bread (the chicken and all sides comes out to about $40). We get the Extra Extra Hot Sauce for dipping and it's SO good. Their chocolate cake dessert is also great!

  • Joshua D.

SUPER SUPER slow. Also, the cashier girl didn't have anyone form a line either for ordering, so it was just a free-for-all. She didn't take customers in order of who was actually in line, she just went to whoever rudely jumped up to the counter first. They need to designate a line area. That aside, the food is just as amazing as when I tried the National Harbor location previously, maybe better. I LOVE the sauces here, and the wings were to die for. Probably in the top 3 wings I've ever had. The fries are just meh, though. They have Coke Remix machines and froyo!

Nice spot. Ended up here when r restaurant next door had a two hour wait. Think happen for a reason and a new restaurant was discovered. You sit, order at the register, get your own drinks, get your own silverware -- so tip accordingly. Got busy around 6pm on Friday night.

Nando's Peri Peri is decent. I have been to only one other location and only once. So there are hostess who seat you, but then you go and order from a counter. You sit down and your meal is brought to your table. You can order your chicken in different marinades. We choose the mango lime and it was fantastic. This time we did a whole chicken to share. The corn was okay and the mashed potatoes are SO good. The portions were good where there wasn't really leftovers, but you left full. They encourage you to eat with your hands and even have a small hand washing station. They do have one of those fancy soda machines, which I love, but the line does tend to get a little long. Oh and for Happy Hour Sunday- Thursday from 4-6 you can get a picture of Sangria for Half Price! Now you know when I will be coming next time! ;)

I have been to a few other Nando's in the area and this one was probably the nicest and the service was good. The wings here a great to start with and the sandwiches are pretty good as well. The chicken to me seems a little dry sometimes compared to other places which cook in the same style, but I guess that is an excuse to dump more sauce on it.

I've never been disappointed with the food and I am a weekly regular since they opened. I try not to go during peak dinner time, especially on the weekends because service can be a bit chaotic. The food doesn't always carry out well. Great menu options.

  • Britney S.

Beautiful atmosphere! They were clearly not worried about cost when it came to that! Prices are very reasonable and my friend really seemed to enjoy the chicken. I knock off one star because if you don't eat chicken (like myself), your options are a wrap, veggie burger or salad. Not things I want to eat everywhere I go, it's seems like an afterthought. I wish they offered one fish dish and grilled mushroom caps as a platter option instead of a side. Sangria is amazing and you can't go wrong with the sides! Definitely give them a try at least once.

This place is the bomb! The food is a little pricey, but the quality and flavor makes up the difference. The greeters always greet you with a smile. Yeahhhh, they seat you and then send you to the counter to order ( which I see a lot of people complaining about) but seating you first with a table number, secures you a table people!...so that the server has a place to bring your food to. If your food comes out and you're still hunting for a table, that would be seriously chaotic! How would the servers find you? The system is set up the way it is for a reason. I love it. It also prevents people from holding up seats from people who have already ordered. The food...I can't rave enough about! The chicken, mashed potatoes, cole slaw and garlic bread with a cold glass of Honest Tea, is the bomb! My taste buds go crazy in this place! I would love to give it 6 stars! Nandos ROCKS!

We were quickly seated by the friendly hostess. Then informed we get up and go to the counter to order our food. I thought it was strange to have a hostess in a counter service place, but whatever. Food and drinks took some time to come out. The chicken was good, but not out of this world. The kids meal chicken was spicier than the adult medium level, which was annoying, and it was very dry. Coleslaw was way too creamy to eat on its own (and we usually say the creamier the better). Overall it's an okay place to eat, but there are much better options at One Loudoun.

Had 2 very good meals here. Other than a very long wait for 2 people on a Saturday evening (45 minutes), I had a great time. Pretty decor & interior. Customer service could improve as these server-type people come to your table and ask if you need anything but don't really ever do anything for you. You walk up to a line and order and wait and bring back your food yourself, which is fine. Just I'm not sure what the people coming up to you offering help do. One stall bathroom is another negative. Long wait for that. Although, it felt European, so I get it. Food: the high point. Chicken is very, very good, very flavorful and moist. Sides: mashed potatoes, rice, salad, garlic bread: all awesome. I really like this place and will be returning regularly.

I've been to Nando's outside of the US but this the first time I tried it here. The place is nicley decorated and kids friendly. The prices are a bit high for the serving size. I have been there now a few times and have tried the sandwich, Pita and quater chicken (breast). Love the nandos hot sauce. Will be visiting soon.

Walked out. It took the waiter/host 10 minutes to seat a family. We finally sat ourselves- however the line to order did not budge. The order taker left to take out food. We were all baffled. Severely understaffed, disorganized, dirty tables and no management in sight. Sure hope they get it together.

After hearing that Nando's was opening up at One Loudoun I was super excited! I went on opening day and it was packed!!! It took about 15 minutes to get a table and 15 minutes to get our food which is pretty normal for a Nando's. The restaurant was very clean (first day open so it better be haha) and the service was great!!! All of the servers and staff were super friendly and helpful!!! I went at 6:30pm and enjoyed the perks of their happy hour menu which lasts until 7. They only have drinks for HH, $3 beers and $6 pitchers of Sangria which was a great deal in my opinion. The drinks showed up fast too! Onto the food...we ordered 2 super combos which was 2 whole chickens and 4 sides (peas, fries, rice, slaw). The chicken was good, my GF said that the white meat was dry though. Ps spicy is pretty dang spicy! I liked the food overall, but it wasn't the best chicken i've ever had. The portions in my opinion were a little small and the sides were mediocre tasting. The best part was the sauces, they have tons and they are all great! Overall, great staff, great service, but mediocre food. I will definitely stick to my normal Peruvian chicken spots, but its always nice to try something new for a change.

We have been here several times and the foods are good. Really like the interesting decors inside, spacious and clean. You order at the front counter and they will give you this number card and they will bring the foods to you. I have had their chicken and tried all their flavors and the one I still like best is the mango and lime. The side sauces at their utility station is also good, particularly the wild herb and garlic sauce. Chicken are moist and not dry (breast) and typically juicy. Their sides of Portuguese rice was pretty yummy too. Their chicken breast wrap with the tangy yogurt sauce is a favorite of my girlfriend. Out of the whim, we also tried their naughty natas dessert. These are round little pastries with what looks like egg-like tarts in the middle. This tasted and reminded me of the Chinese egg tarts, almost very similar...but the natas is a much sweeter version of it. I still prefer the Chinese egg tarts though (flakier crusts and more mild fillings). Overall a pretty solid place with good foods. Will definitely return!

Looking for a place for dinner.. You'll like the food. But the atmosphere is a little off... You are greeted at the door by a hostess, so far so normal, but then you're informed while being seated to order at the counter, get your own drinks and the 'wait staff' will bring your food. We were meeting someone so we ordered appetizers, then when we all decided on our entrée order, up half of us go to order, then we decided to get desserts and coffee, up we truck to order again, this time to wait in line behind about five other people ordering. Overall, the food was fine, a little cold probably from sitting at the 'window' to get all our orders out to us at the same time. And one of our appetizers didn't arrive, so we had to track that down ourselves. The chicken and even the one beef dish is pretty good. The salads were average and appetizers and sauces available to bring a for the table were very nice (something different than your average choices). The range of desserts were nice but the more popular ones were sold out (as were the more popular side dishes). The interior design was sleek and different with wood tones and modern/unique settings. If we didn't have to be our own waiters it could have been a great time. For the price (which is above fast food). I'd think twice but if you have a little time and don't mind getting up and being part of your tables DIY waiter staff, then give it a try..

My boyfriend wanted to take me here because he has a thing for spicy food. I don't have any spice tolerance but I decided to try it. When we walked in my first impression was that the decor is absolutely phenomenal. The staff was cheerful and young and greeted us as soon as we got in the door. It wasn't too crowded so we were seated immediately. My boyfriend ordered a extra hot leg with garlic bread and mash and I got a mango-lime chicken pita. The food was ready quickly and we dug in. As I said earlier my boyfriend has a super high spice tolerance but he said that the spice was up to par. My pita was good but not phenomenal, the chicken was the only really good part. Price was around 20 for the two of us and the portions were proportional to price. Overall the experience was good, but the atmosphere definitely out did the food. We might come back but we will definitely just get chicken and sides instead of sandwiches or wraps.

Visited for lunch and really enjoyed both the food and the atmosphere. Hostess was friendly and helpful and counter staff very capable. The chicken breast sandwich was moist and delicious. The chicken could have been a little larger for the price but was enjoyable, slightly spicy at the medium level. The cole slaw was very good. The sandwich, side and soft drink priced out at a little over ten dollars. I felt the value was okay but do agree that portions could be a bit larger. I will definitely return, it's a welcome addition to the area.
