We were headed out to Sand Hollow on a Sunday morning and my husband suggested we give St Helen's a try for breakfast instead of one of the chain restaurants that were open. I am SO glad he did. Everything about our meal was perfect. It was a little busy when we arrived around 9 am, all the booths were taken so we sat at a high-top in the bar area. Within 20 minutes, every table was full and there was a line of people waiting to be seated. Service was quick and friendly.... We each ordered hot tea, they had a nice assortment of teas and we were each brought out our own bear bottle of honey when we recieved our cups and hot water... A nice touch. The food here is standard breakfast items.. One thing that stood out was that St Helen's offered both standard 3 egg omelets, as well as smaller 2 egg omelets... Perfect for someone like me that enjoys omelets but does not want a huge breakfast. (They also offered two sizes of breakfast burritos). I went with the 2 egg ham and cheese omelet, and my husband had the pancake sandwich. My omelet was perfect... Fluffy eggs, just the right amount of cheese and ham. It came with breakfast potatoes which were unseasoned, but well cooked. I also had my choice of toast, english muffin or a scone. My husband let me try a mibble of the bacon that came with his meal, so yummy! Our waitress was a superstar. Everytime I looked around she was hussling to a table with 5-6 plates balanced perfectly, or hussling back to put in more orders. She offered more hot water for our tea before we had a chance to ask, and brought our check over just as I was about to ask for it. I will certainly be eating at St Helen's again when in the area, well worth the short drive from St. George.

Waitress service was good but the food was awful and cold. I've been here 5 times and the only thing that has ever been good on the breakfast menu was the gravy and biscuits. The gravy is very flavorful.

I'm fairly amazed that this place received any positive reviews. If I could give this place negative stars, I would. First of all, my friend and I sat at the bar, which was filthy decided to move to a booth, which wasn't much better. The service was slow and once my salad, which was supposed to be Cajun shrimp and was obviously buffalo fried shrimp arrived, I waited about 20 minutes to get silverware. I only received silverware when I finally got up and asked for it. Finally, the menu promised that their wings were a magnet and can be made as hot as you want. I am a fan of very spicy hot wings, which was what drew me to there in the first place, so I asked for the hottest wings they could make. It now all makes sense that they put hot in quotation marks. Not even the slightest kick!

Wow the service here has gone to hell. What a shame they were decent once.

I'd give the St. Helens an extra half-star if I could. The food here was wonderful, everything perfect. The service was friendly and prompt. The Halloween decorations were subtle and funny. Two of the TV's were curved big screens. Our total bill for two came to just under $20 for lunch (plenty of food, no alcohol). This review sounds kind of blah, but the St. Helens is actually something special. There are very few restaurants within a mile of the St.George/Washington, Utah Costco that are even adequate. This place stands out.

I really, REALLY wanted to like this place. I heard from some folks that they had redecorated the place and revamped the menu, so my family decided to give it a try. Upon entering, I noticed that the decor was a similar mish-mash as I had seen before. They have attempted to add a sports bar feel to the place by adding televisions, a pool table, and a stage that doubles as a carpeted putting green. There was also karaoke and solo acoustic guitar act equipment on their mini stage. We were surprised to see no kids' menu whatsoever. Having three children with us, this was disappointing, and significantly added to the cost/waste factor of the meal. My wife ordered a chicken salad that she said was bland in all respects. I had a ham and cheese omelet. The eggs were fine, but the cheese was not really melted and the ham was not flavorful. My oldest two sons each had burgers that they felt were okay. My youngest son had a short stack (two) of pancakes that seemed doughy and generally unappetizing. He did like the syrup though. Then again, he is four, so that wasn't shocking. The waiter was very funny and nice, and was doing his absolute best. That said, he was the only server during a busy Sunday time, so service was slow, and refills were scarce. We won't be back, which is a shame, because the waiter in a good setting would be a superstar.

Good food, good service. I ordered the portobello and sirloin pasta special and was surprised to see it was served with red peppers. The sever took it back and had it made without peppers. It was excellent!! My dining partner had vegetable soup and bacon cheeseburger, both excellent.

Went on Mother's Day, had to ask to get my food out of the window after it sat there for a good 10 minutes. It was not really hot anymore so I had to ask a different server to take care of the issue since I couldn't get my servers attention. Two other servers waited on us in between waiting on their tables. Finally one of those servers took my food off the bill and we paid for drinks. I won't be back. Service was horrible.

Average food and service, third star since they have an area for dogs.

My experience was okay. Not bad for lunch or breakfast. But more of a diner & bar setting. They have a golf putting thing and a pool table. But I usually rate by food. So I don't recommend it if you're looking for Eggs Benedict. Other than that I can't really comment. Everyone else I went with was fairly pleased.

We've been coming here for years. It's one of our regular Sunday morning spots for a good Bloody Mary and some affordable basic food. It's a diner/sports bar, so all the complainers on here about food quality, etc need to get a clue. Reminds me of someone ordering seafood in a burger joint and being surprised it's not good. And to those complaining about the lack of a kids menu, it's a bar. Do us all a favor and leave them at home. Or go to five guys. The rest of us will continue to enjoy the affordable home cooking and a full bar.

I just wanted to say that I'm looking forward to going back to this restaurant the next time I'm in St. George. We visited in May 2011 and the food was excellent - standard American fare but both my husband and I had outstanding dishes (mine was pasta). Our waiter was incredibly friendly and put me in a great mood (which was no small feat as I was having major anxiety because it was the night before I raced in Ironman St. George). The patrons were mostly home-town and the atmosphere was very low key and relaxed. It doesn't look like much from the outside, but we consider it an excellent find.

If you want that great feeling of home town Utah with local color and style, this is the place. Excellent food, friendly folk, both staff and patrons. But it is the food that will bring your back. Daily specials are best but the menu has solid choices. For breakfast try the omelets and scones. (remember they're Utah scones, more like a New Orleans Beignet or a thick sopapilas.) Hash browns are light and delicious, melt in your mouth. While you might not expect coffee, the mugs with steaming brews are much better than elsewhere.

I have been here several times and have yet to be disappointed with the service or the food. The inside is small and seating is limited but the food is worth the wait. I would suggest trying one of the crapes with honey butter, they come with a breakfast meal or choice of toast.Prices are fair, I understand it's a business they need to make a profit. My only complaint would be that wooden floor appears dirt but , it has been there forever so it has that worn look. If your in the area ,stop by and give them a try for breakfast.
