There is actually no star for this place from me. Unfortunately you have to give a star, that's why this place got one. Here's my story. On May 23rd, 2015, my parents visiting from foreign countries and I entered this place hoping for a good lunch. With no waiters or waitresses greeting us at the door & our tummy rumbling, we decided to randomly sit down at a table in the sun room. The restaurant at this point was almost empty except 4 or 5 customers almost finishing up their meals. After a long while, a middle-aged blonde whom I assume to be the waitress swung by, staring rigidly at my beloved parents, coldly said, "this room and table is reserved for some groups. you guys can move to the other table." There is no introducing herself, no"please", no "would you mind", nor greetings or smile. It was almost like a command "go sit there". We still cooperated without wanting to cause anyone inconvenience and she randomly throw some utensils wrapped in napkins & menus at the table and left without a word. After a while we sat down at a corner table close to the gift shop, a larger group of American tourists (assuming from their accents) brought by a commercial bus fluxing in. They were seated, given coffee or water while we waited and waited for the return of the waitress. After probably another 15 minutes, she finally looked towards our direction. Yet she turned away and walked to the other customers again, starting to take their orders.Feeling ignored and ill-treated, we stood up and left. I honestly did not expect much cultural diversity in such a little town. However being 11 miles and the closest town from Capitol Reef National Park, I would expect foreigners being treated with fair respect. The whole experience was insulting and traumatizing to foreigners like us. I can't help but wondering what's the meaning behind all this.

We have eaten here twice on road trips. This is a time warp in a good way, from the 60's folk movement. It is a New age oasis. The food is well prepared, with options for vegetarians and meat eaters. The first time we had lunch, a couple years ago. I had the chicken sandwich, and boyfriend had something with beef. Everything was cooked nicely, and service was pleasant too. We had breakfast a few days ago, I had the Capital reef veggie omelet, and boyfriend had the waffles eggs, and bacon. Again everything was cooked nicely and tasted wholesome. They have a gift store with useful things like maps for sale too.

Great food! We had the ten vegetable salad and the Chicken and ribs combo! Delicious!!!

You have to compare this place to other options in southern Utah: most places have burgers, fries heavy food and very little in the way of fresh vegetables. This place has multiple fresh options and the 10 vegetable salad is a true thing of beauty, you can add it to your meal for just a few bucks, or they will make a huge one as well. I am a fan.

This was from a few years ago but I stayed in Torrey mostly because in Mormon Utah, Torrey is one of the few towns in actually has alcoholic beverages and I took that to be a sign of some semblance of liberalism and as a single ethnic visible minority chick alone on the road, that's a big deal. While I didn't stay here since they were completely booked (I highly recommend making reservations here especially during July/August), I stayed in the motel down the street, I did come to the cafe and resto to eat, mostly for breakfasts and dinner. The vegetables were as fresh as can be, the steak practically melted in my mouth, the sauce it came in was wonderful, the boysenberry pie was amazing too. And I did get to have my glass of wine also in Utah :-). Breakfasts were just as fresh and tasty. The waitresses I had were super friendly, the service was very warm. A great spot and highly recommended!

This moderately priced motel has a cafe in the front. I loved the cafe. The food choices were few, but everything we tasted was delicious. I would definitely put in a vote for the homemade cream of mushroom soup they had the night we were there. The quesadilla appetizer was healthful, filled with cheese and veggies, and the salsa that came with it was delicious. The background Native American wind flute music was soothing. On the other hand, the room did not fare as well. On the good side, they are in close proximity to Capital Reef NP. As for the room, the beds were comfy, slept well, and the spacious room was cutely decorated in Southwestern decor. There was a refrigerator and coffee maker and phone. And the staff were quite accommodating and helpful. But the problems were many, and mostly safety hazards. First, outside. You must step up several ill designed steps to get to your front door. They are narrow and the rise too steep to be comfortable. Inside, the smaller area rug that led to the bathroom was slippery and easy to trip. The electrical outlet next to the sink was way too close to the splashing water and was not the correct shock proof outlet for there. The toilet was encased so that you felt like you were seated in a tight closet, and the shower was creepy small and uninviting. There was no hair dryer and no wifi. There appear to be only 9 rooms available, and of those 9, only one seems to accommodate a wheelchair. Yes, I would eat here, but would not like to stay here again.

I ate here today for lunch. Overall, I was impressed with the quality of the food and the prices on the menu seemed to be reasonable. I had the 10 vegetable salad along with my meal, and I have to admit I'm a bit of a salad snob, and it passed the test. I ordered the pork ribs and overall they were pretty good. My children had the kids spaghetti, and they are normally quite picky eaters, and they both liked it. The decor is eclectic and interesting, and well-kept up, not run down. Not a bad option if you were looking for a place to eat in Torrey, Utah!

Decent hassle free place to eat! Came here for dinner around 9. Staff was pleasant. Veggies are fresh and refreshing. Ordered the smoked trout which came with a baked potato and a choice of different types of steamed veggies. I got the snap peas which I love! The trout was small but tasty. I added on a salad side for 2.50 which came with sprouts, a broccoli, a cauliflower, lettuce, beets, cucumber, squash, tomato, and red cabbage.

Food was great and prices reasonable. We came for dinner but the lunch selections and prices were even better. Ordered the chicken and pork ribs combo. The pork ribs was very tender and tasty. It came with fresh corn on the cob (yummy, my fave), beans (OK, not really my fave) and corn bread. We added a 10- veggie salad for just 3.99 and it was quite big. My husband and I shared all this , plus a peach pie a LA mode for dessert. :) Service was quick, too.

I admire what they are doing for the culinary options of Utah. We had the bbq ribs, trout 10 veggie salad (I requested fresh grilled), and boysenberry pie a la mode. The food was delicious and nice to the eyes as well. The cornbread was moist and sweet. Service was friendly and generous. Wish we'd known about this place before booking our room down the road. I would have liked to stay here too!

Over spring break, I decided to take a jaunt down to Capitol Reef National Park, and the Staircase Monument. I was looking for somewhere decent to stay, and pet friendly was a must. I would highly recommend Capitol Reef Inn and Cafe. They were accommodating of my two small travel companions, and the rooms were nice. The best part was the super hot water in the morning when I took my shower. We swung into the cafe for breakfast, a decent breakfast for the price. If you are looking for somewhere to stay that is a bit different and local compared to the chain hotels in town, stay here. I will definitely be going back!

Enjoyed a very good breakfast at this charming little restaurant. The owners are friendly and accommidating. My breakfast burrito was filled with fresh vegetables nicely prepared. Jean had the French toast. The coffee was fresh too. Well fortified, we're ready for the day.

What an absolute sweet little place. My boyfriend and I stayed at the Capitol Reef Inn on June 2 and also had dinner at their café on site that evening. The food was truly delicious; we shared the Ribs & Chicken Combo. The ribs were so tender they fell off the bone; my chicken breast was wonderful and juicy and the bbq sauce tasty. The corn on the cob was perfectly cooked and crunchy and the ten-vegetable salad quite yummy. Only drawback was the cornbread which seemed a little grainy and dry. I had the peach pie for dessert and tasted his berry pie. OMG, so so good. We topped the dinner off with espresso which was great - and we are finicky espresso drinkers! The waitress was very, very friendly and service was fantastic. Attached to the café is a neat little gift shop selling lots of Native American type items as well as the typical coffee cups, books, t-shirts, hoodies, hats, etc. The lodging was nice. Clean, spacious room with two queen beds. Nice wood flooring. Flat screen TV mounted on wall near one of the beds. Small frig and coffee maker. Table by large window to sit at. Bathroom was outdated but who cares - clean and worked just fine. There is a hot tub that a couple of the other lodgers were using in a covered area on the grounds, nothing fancy but nice that it's there if you want to use. The price for lodging was phenomenal - even cheaper than what we paid at a Motel 6 earlier in the trip but the accommodations so much better! Knowing they would be "rustic" accommodations (and not expecting anything different), I heartily give this little gem a 5-star rating for what it is!!

Best value in Torrey. Their ten ingredient salad is only 3.99 with a dinner entrée. It has beets and alfalfa among others. Will come back if visiting Capitol reef. They also pay attention to details. For example, the plates are heated and their service is brisk.

I've been eating at this place for years. I'd put the food and atmosphere in the local, mom and pop kind of place. The food is decent. The gift shop is always fun to explore. I had the smoke Utah trout and it was tasty. My wife had the ribs and chicken. She enjoyed the dish. They now have mixed drinks and beer on the menu. Yay.

Oh dear. The waitress conveyed a run off her feet attitude which doesn't induce a relaxing feel to dinner. Rushing through taking our order and yelling across the room when she said "here's your lemonade". It's like being in someone house. Maybe that's appealing for some. She slammed down all the glasses and was all but running in her flip flops around the floor. Flip flip flip flip flip. The flip flops were somewhat distracting but oh that door bell. It was like Big Ben was going off every 30 seconds. Aaaarrrghh. Food was average. My steak was dry. Served with dry steamed vegetables. And a dry baked potato. Other meals on our table were ok at best. For a place trying to convey a low key vibe, this was not a relaxing place to eat. I know this isn't a 5 star place and I'm not looking for sliver service but neither the food nor the service was good enough that I would return. People have mentioned the value. I thought it was expensive for what it was.

Solid basic food well prepared. Things like steak, chicken, shrimp ribs etc. Kitchen got badly backed up while we were there resulting in 2 of the party of 5 getting their meals well after the first 3, but that aside, everything was fine. The ribs and the "10 ingredient' salad were really excellent. Service was attentive and kept us posted on the kitchen progress. Would likely go back next time in the area. Decent value, most of the entree's are less than $20. Nicely decorated dining room.

Dined here once for supper and once for breakfast. Superb, big salad with a variety of veggies. The breakfast burrito was chock full of veggies along with the usual eggs and such, served in a big, 'wrap' style tortilla, along with fresh fruit. The staff was friendly. Best selection of Utah beers we found in Torrey.

There's nothing fancy here; pretty basic stuff (steaks, fish, etc.), but it's well prepared, fresh, and delicious. Service is good, and there's a little atmosphere, being a shop - restaurant.
