We were visiting from Phoenix AZ and very happy to discover some delicious authentic Mexican food. Very friendly service and a clean restaurant. Wife's chicken Fajitas came out super sizzlin and i had the cheesy chicken enchiladas. Fresh guacamole, tortilla chips and a tamale for appetizer. Great prices and will definitely come back when we visit family again next year!

Overall impression: I won't be back, but some of the food was good, and service was great. Food: The salsa was interesting. It had a flavor that (I'm sorry) I can't figure out and haven't tasted anywhere in Mexico, the Southwest, or elsewhere, but it was actually pretty good. The guacamole was superb! They used good ratios of ingredients that still let the (very good) avocados stand out. The carnitas were quite bland but very tender and juicy. Beans are very runny like they used oil or even water rather than lard or rendered fats. Service: The staff was always eager to help, refill, and clear our table and were super nice. Atmosphere: Let's just say lacking. Maybe take down some of the poster ads on the storefront windows and put in some dividers for the tables that are so exposed in the center of the small room.

Tooele, outside Salt Lake City is a poster child for what seems every casual dining chain in the U.S. You pass maybe 20 of them before you get to old town Tooele, which looks almost abandoned-- most of the life sucked out of it by the modern strip malls just north. But this is where you find golden gems like Vista Linda. It's run with pride by a small family and has very fresh, tasty food. We came in late, after the owner of the B&B where we were staying recommended it at the tail of his list of chain restaurants, almost apologetically, as a "local" Mexican restaurant. Prices were great. We stayed a half hour chatting with the owner and his daughter, originally from Mexico, who had a great life story. Can't miss here. Be brave. Go local for the best!

I have been here a few times, each time it keeps getting better. The food is great, so far I've had enchiladas and the chimichanga and both were really good, both came with a side of rice and beans. The price is decently priced for how much food you get and the quality of the food. If you have not tried this place, you are missing out.

Visiting from San Diego, I'm pretty fussy about quality Mexican food. Vista Linda makes everything in house, and it shows in the flavor and quality. Think Doritos are how corn chips are supposed to taste? Then please order the chips and guacamole here and you'll be astonished to taste sweet corn in every chip bite! I wanted to try the spicy corn on the cob available on the menu, but had already stuffed myself. Street tacos were terrific (tortillas were outstanding) as were the fajitas. A full salsa and condiment bar was available to further spice food or to round out the pozole (also good), thus making both our "I can't eat spicy food" and "the spicier, the better" eaters happy.

I was working in Tooele for two weeks and tried just about all the major places listed in yelp and urban spoon. Probably enjoyed this place the best. I had the steak fajitas, which were great, and I love the hotter salsa from the salsa bar. The food came out quickly and was piping hot. Service was ok but to caveat, it was pretty busy when I was there. Definitely suggest this place if you are in town.

Fantastic food! I got the chile relleno combo. Very yummy. Kids meals were cheap. Husband got the chimichanga and he said it was very good. Tamales were decent too. Pleasantly surprised at how good they were.

So after going here a few more times the service is good but the food seems to be hit and miss, I was quite disappointed the last time.

Amazing service! Seriously if it's raining the owner will greet you outside with an umbrella if he has a chance. He escorted my husband out with our to-go order too. Posole is great & I'm happy they have it all the time. All the food is good that we've tried. Pretty authentic too.

Tried them yesterday. I figure the first thing to evaluate with any Mexican restaurant is their ability to produce the basics: Beans, rice, tortillas, tacos, burritos, etc. Which makes this place easy to evaluate because "the basics" are all they serve. The menu is very thin. The salsa I got with my chips was totally devoid of flavor. Literally. I was worried I was having a stroke. It was like anti-flavor. The tacos were a smaller version of what Taco Bell serves. The bean and rice burrito was merely "ok", at best. The only things this place has going for it are "cheap" and "fast." I give them 3 months, tops. You can get a beef tongue burrito, though, if you want it. I don't think the legions of beef tongue fans will be enough to keep this restaurant going.

I am glad we discovered this spot in town. I was extremely impressed with the service we received! Our waitress was excellent. Good service can really make or break a dining out experience. Our food was very good and cooked perfectly. The prices here are very affordable and portions are great. We will definitely come back to support this local restaurant.

Nachos? No thank you they tasted like a low rent version of gas station nachos (that is not easy to do). Steak fajitas that were more fat than steak. The chips and salsa were ok but the salsa was on the soupy side. The service was nice and quick but I don't go to a restaurant to eat the service (ok there was that on time at the cannibal restaurant but that was it). I went here because my mother chose it and I love my mother, but after that meal if she chooses it again I will have to reconsider how much I really love her.

This place is great. Love the food and the service. Kitchen is clean. In my opinion, they should charge more for the food. I would like to see them succeed in business.

So we really wanted to find a true authentic Mexican restaurant here in Tooele, well this place came highly recommended. So this isn't what we were expecting. Not sure what the sauce on the enchiladas were made out of. Service was great very friendly staff just not tasty Mexican food.

Vista Linda isn't very expensive but you could still cook it more flavorful at home for less. She started by asking if we wanted guacamole and chips. I don't care for guacamole so I asked for salsa. What she brought us was not salsa. No chunky tomato's or onions, no flavor. It was taco sauce from a bulk bottle probably bought at Costco or Sam's Club. It lacked any flavor to even identify the brand. When the food arrived it was also extremely bland. I've never reached for a salt shaker eating out for Mexican. I used the salt shaker 3 times for the various layers in my Taco Salad. I would have poured salsa on it for flavor but there was none. I requested some Pico and it helped slightly if it didn't completely overwhelm the non flavors of everything else in the taco shell. Sure you can get a meal here for 2.99 (taco deal) but your wasting your money.

I really enjoy the three enchiladas platter. Tamales are also great. They have my personal favorite salsa around and extremely nice service.

When I heard about this place, I said 'Authenic Mexican? yeah, right' But YEAH RIGHT! OMG! Great, simple, unpretentious. Perfect seasoning. Chimi's, amazing! Tacos, WOW! Their refried beans are something to write home about! Salsa bar with cilantro, lime wedges, 5 different salsas, onions, etc. the wait staff is very attentive, sometimes even a little OVERattentive. Prices are dirt cheap for what you get. Tortillas are mmmmmm. Omg I wanna go now! I'm there at least once a week only because I force myself not to go more often! They are in the process of perfecting the Al Pastor recipe, at which time I will sell everything I own, just to live on al pastor tacos! Lol

Excellent food, excellent service. The guacamole is some of the best I have ever had. The ground beef tacos are my favorite.

We were visiting Tooele from Seattle and pretty sad to find nothing but fast food options. We happened upon this place on a morning walk and decided on a whim to have lunch there. So glad we did! I ordered the street tacos, and I have **never** had meat so tender and delicious. My husband ordered the smothered burrito and loved it. They make everything fresh here, including a salsa bar with lots of options. The price is downright cheap (the tacos were $1.59/each I think), and considering that taco bell probably charges that much for a taco why wouldn't you go somewhere like this place where you can get super fresh, damned tasty food for the same price (and support the local economy!)? Do not miss this place if you are in town.

Love the service and the price. The fajitas were great and served with corn tortillas, which I prefer. The staff will bend over backwards to help.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
