Stopped by here on recommendation of friends. The food is really pretty good and I was not disappointed. I understand this is a local place with the one location but it kind of reminded me of astro burger, crown burger or apollo burger. Food was great and I will eat here again if in Tooele. Would have been 5 starts but the tables were sticky and the floors and walls were a bit dirty.

This place is great Let me say it is not "fast food" it's a restaurant with a drive thru After working here I can say that everything is fresh. Every protein is never frozen and delivered every morning. The kabobs are hand sticked and marinated every morning, onion rings are hand battered daily, salads assembled before they open and pastrami is marinated all day and strained before placing on the burger so you don't get a soggy bun. Their side orders are picked very carefully before the owners serve them. They put so much care into what kind of food they serve. Even the French frys are only half frozen on delivery so they don't dry out and burn during cooking. If you ever find yourself passing through, definitely pick this place to sit and have a meal.

Small town, greasy fast food, and unapologetic as such. I had a mushroom burger that was delicious. The fries were good but they need to work on the batter for the zucchini and onion rings. Would not hesitate to eat at again, but wouldn't go out of my way for such.

Im sad to say that I did not eat at American Burger. After reading all the reviews on Yelp I thought I would give it a try. When I arrived and walked in there was a pletera of flies, then I looked behind the counter and not a single person was wearing anything to restrain thier hair, and all the places they were preparing food looked like they havent been cleaned in a while. Again this isnt a review on the food, which im sure by the reviews is good; this is a review of what prevented me from trying the food.

I had a cheeseburger, fries, and a cola. With tax the total was $6.33. By the way, the menu listed here on Yelp must be quite old. Prices are certainly higher now. The burger patty was very thin. I hardly even tasted the burger. Fries were standard fare, nothing special. Place is a little grungy but was friendly enough and service was quick. In fairness to this biz I should point out that I did not try the items they are apparently known for, such as the Greek food, the American burger (cheeseburger piled with pastrami), and the milk shakes. I doubt I'll go back.

Probably the best burger(s) & shakes in town. They even have a bacon blue or mushroom Swiss option. Great fish & chips, grilled cheese, blt's & Greek offerings too. Seriously amazing shakes!!! I only gave them 4 stars because they have eliminated their larger "dinner" offerings that included a salad & roll. This means I don't have a place in town to get a quick but amazing steak dinner. Yes I'm serious.

  • Desi G.

This place is awesome. Great pastrami burgers. Fries are very good. Love their cheesecake shake. Never been in to eat only through the drive thru. Mozzarella sticks, fried mushrooms, & the jalapeño poppers things are all yummy too. Favorite place to eat in Tooele so far.

  • Virgil G.

Great food and the best shakes I have had in a very long time. Look forward to trying the rest of the menu and more of their shakes. Ordering A La Carte can be a tad pricey, but how else are you going to try everything?

  • Corban A.

This is honestly the best place in Tooele to get a burger, a gyro or souvlaki. Service is always great.

  • Rod S.

I expected yet another greek place making overcooked patties with just OK additions. Instead I found a greek burger place that really cares. The particular day we were there the owner was holding court at a nearby table with extended family. I over heard a few comments about how they marinate their chicken, etc. They were all good. He really cared about the food, OTOH, that didn't stop them from overcooking the patty like expected. However, the fixings were first class, including the proverbial pastrami. My wife got the Gyro. Unlike the dried out meat we get locally, it was very good. This is was Crown Burger as it used to be like, and is no longer. Well done.

This place has gone down hill! Charging for everything. Next it will be a charge for napkins. Inform your customer you're out of something instead of charging for it and then oh by the way we're out of this here is a substitute and then the owner acts like he doesn't care and says you're free to go elsewhere! That's bad business and yes I will go elsewhere to Apollo!

  • Michael M.

This place is pretty good, they are much, much better than the Apollo burger down the street. Still maintaining the full menu and the staff is friendlier and they are faster.

  • Braden S.

The place was a little gross. The walls looked very dirty. Even if they weren't, they had the image of being filthy. The burger was very mediocre. Paper thin patty. Really nothing at all special about the place, and nothing I'd dish out $5 for again.

  • Laurie R.

This place is a gem in Tooele. My bf and I each had a bacon cheeseburger and we ordered some onion rings, fries, and shakes. The burgers were fantastic. They used a high quality beef and the bacon was thick and generously piled on the burger. The onion rings were crispy but the batter was flavorless. They were better once we sprinkled salt on them. The thick cut fries were also better with the addition of salt. The shakes were thick and flavorful...every bit as good as the shakes at some of the well-known places in the Salt Lake valley. We're definitely going to stop here the next time we're in Tooele.

I recently moved out to Utah and I tried American Burgers. I ordered the American Burger with fries and a drink. I have only eaten here once. American Burger- regular cheeseburger with pastrami added onto the top. The pastrami was really good pastrami, it wasn't chewy and really fatty. It was tender and had good flavor. The side of fries weren't anything special, they had fry sauce and it was pretty good. I actually like fry sauce even though being from CA they don't have it there. I think they use the fry sauce on the burger also. Service was good and the food came out pretty quick. I give them four stars because it was good but not amazing.

  • Tim G.

It's funny that I've been to this place several times and never had a burger here. The Gyro plate and fries is why I drop by this place when I'm in town. They are friendly and quick with all kinds of shakes. Do yourself a favor and drop by here for a great meal at a awesome price.

  • Brigham W.

I have found this place to be one of my favorite burger places. They also have Greek food as well. From gyros to kabobs they have some very good rice pilaf as well. Some of my personal favorites are the kabob plate, rice pilaf and the gyro are always good. They make a great Hamburger as well you can never go wrong with the American burger combo. They also do shakes and various ice cream items, sundaes and ice cream cones they have around twenty five or so items you can mix and max for a shake all your own.

  • Traci E.

Always great service and food. Their burgers and fries are always fresh and taste great too. Lots of menu options from burgers, Greek food, and even soup. My kids love their shakes.

  • Jeffrey S.

I should stop being surprised about burger joints in Utah, and just know that every locally owned hamburger restaurant serves a wicked menu of Greek food. Here I am, passing through Tooele after a day of romping through the hills with my pup, and I get the hankering for a post-hike pick-me-up. Enter American Burgers, and I'm holding a chocolate banana shake and trying to drive home before the rain comes down. I was indeed tempted by their menu of standard burgers in their single and double forms, but also very intrigued by a few creative twists, chiefly the jalapeño, veggie burger, and of course the massive pastrami-topped monstrosities. The Greek menu also called my name -kebabs and gyros mostly. Breaking out of the burger joint mold completely, they've also got steak and shrimp dinner plates, salads, and a surprisingly large coffee menu. The bright neon sign in the window lets you know they brew Rimini and you can get your latte in iced or hot fashion. In the end, the chocolate banana shake was pretty tasty and exactly what I wanted. The consistency was just right, not cement but definitely cold and scoopworthy. It was a little too heavy on the chocolate, but the banana was fresh and not too ground up inside. I don't often find myself in Tooele, so I was proud of the Yelp app for leading me to burger and shakeness on the other side of the Oquirrhs!

These are the best burgers and fries in town. You pay a little more but it's well worth it.

  • Kristin S.

Went to the grantsville location it is always good restraunt but one particular night they were very busy gave us our food and drinks and our shakes were completely melted and all over the cup was sticky and wet and not only that but our food was soggy,so I called and they said no problem they would replace the shakes all they needed my name so I gave it to them.Came back tonight for my replacement shakes and there was no record of my name Kris, this particular person called her bosses no one knew about it so she told me I'm sorry but I cannot replace them for free,I ended up having my receipt and expressed how I was upset for having not only had bad food but melted shakes and that's all I asked to be replaced the young lady offered to pay out of her own pocket, her name was Margeret....At that point I saw a selfless person putting forth effort because she felt bad.I told her absolutely not but she was so sweet..To the owners of American Burgers you need to hsve a plan place for these situations and promote your honest, selfless, hard working employee Margaret the manager.
