If you want homemade Italian, this is the place to go. The atmosphere is cozy and the waitstaff are friendly. The sweet potato gnocchi are outstanding and the lemon gelato is a welcome ending to any meal. If you want to support local and get some great Italian food, skip the Olive Garden and head here.

Good lasagna, friendly staff, quick service. It's nice to find a locally owned Italian joint rather than the big chain restaurants.

Went to Siragusa's for lunch, got a lunch special chicken parm and pasta. The waitress was very friendly and busy, numerous folks eating with one waitress. The food was not impressive, very under seasoned and bland. Food was a bit pricey for what I got, not sure I will return.

This is a place located on the east side of Redwood Road. Their food was great! Not only was our waiter very knowledgeable, but he made our group feel very welcome. Their lunch portions are just right and not too overwhelming in reference to size. In our group of 6 people, not one person was disappointed with their food. The sweet potato gnocchi was amazing! It is not overwhelming in the sweet potato taste, its great, a must try! We will definitely be back!

This is a tough review. I REALLY wanted to give them 4 or 5 stars. And I was ready to do so. But then the entrees arrived. I'll get back to that. We arrived and were greeted, very friendily... or is it friendlyly? Either way, it was great. The nice folks told us to take a seat anywhere we wanted, as there were lotsa open spaces. We chose a booth. The ambiance was nice. It wasn't fancy, but it wasn't divey either... just sort of... homey. Our waiter was very cool and immediately asked us if we were comfortable. Is it warm enough in here? I've literally never heard that question in a restaurant setting. Good touch. He was also super fast about returning with a wine key to open our bottle. We ordered bruschetta as an appetizer. It was quite tasty, but the tomatoes were not ripe and lacked flavor (totally understandable, as it was Wintertime). We got side of balsamic vinegar and oil to liven them up and it was delightul. We finished the whole plate. We ordered two entrees (chicken cacciatore & penne rustica) for around $10/each and opted to add side salads for a mere $1.25/per. The salads arrived and they were very good. Fresh and tasty, but quite basic. The dressings (bleu cheese and creamy Italian) were also good. Up to this point, I'm thinking 4-5 stars. Flawless service 5+ stars and good apps/salads 4 stars. Then the entrees arrived. They were good. They were nothing better than "good." My penne rustica was something that I could easily make at home with pre-made ingredients available at any grocery store. The sausage was ovbiously pre-packaged (think Johnsonville Mild Italian). Not bad, but not great. The Penne was your basic white flour pasta and was (gulp) way overcooked. Al dente had long since come and gone. The sauce was good, but not better than the jar stuff you'd get at the supermarket. Lisa's chicken cacciatore was not as good as my dish. The chicken was sort of tough/chewy. The sauce, advertised as "spicy," was nothing of the sort. The sprinkler jar of dried peppers helped to rectify that situation. The mushrooms in the dish were (gulp, again) from a jar! And there were olives in it, which is something I've never seen before. The angel hair pasta was even more overcooked than my penne. The flavors, overall were good, but there were some glaring issues here. If Mr. Siragusa asked my advice, it would be simple. Use better, fresher, ingredients, add some BOLD flavors, and cook your pasta al dente. Done! 5 Stars! The service was phenomenal! The value was great! $35 for 2 complete meals, including appetizer and wine corkage (a paltry $5). And the food was good. Despite the problems with our entrees, the food was satisfying. And, for the price, I will certainly give them another try.

I didn't expect to be as pleased as I was. The place is clean and cute. Our waitress was AWESOME!!!! We brought two boys, 4 and 6, and they were enamored and entertained by Joey. She even got them to eat with a smile (no small task). The kids menu is pretty standard so the minis were happy. The adult menu was phenomenal. I had a hard time choosing. Luckily there was an option for two half servings so I could try a couple of things on the list of entrees I was hankering to try. The sweet potato gnocchi was delightful and I also had the pesto, which was a fresh tasting complement to the gnocchi. The garlic bread was yummy too... Thick and crusty with lots of butter. I ate the entire plate and I rarely finish a meal. My better half ordered the special, shrimp picatta in a lemon sauce. I snagged a bite and was impressed with the wonderful combination of flavors. We will be going back and bringing friends.

Used Yelp to find this place and was not disappointed. Very reasonable prices, extra friendly service, even though they were packed on a Friday night. So glad I picked Siragusa's and didn't go for the chains. Glass of wine was less than a beer and good quality for half the price of the chains. Come to this place, you will be happy you did

I was taken to Siragusa's for lunch and it was a delightful surprise. The place doesn't look like much from the outside, but inside it's quaint and welcoming. I had the sweet potato gnocchis in a spinach & mushroom cream sauce - and it was fabulous. Everyone else loved their lunches too. I'll definitely be going back.

It's a bit early to update my review, but after a second visit, I can't help but reinforce my wonderful experience here, again, in the form of a poem (this is so much fun!): I ordered take-out again as I was running quite late, Sausage and peppers and lasagna for my date, Entering the joint, the staff kindly recognized me, And strongly suggested I try their amazing cannoli. Alas I remembered, I wanted tiramisu, But to their insistance I didn't pursue, How glad I was when I took the first crunch, It was rich, light, and creamy, I wanted a bunch! Unfortunately I forgot I had to drive over many a mile, And the food had quite the time to sit for a while, The lasagna remained in tact and authentic to the T, While my sausage and peppers became rather soggy. Despite the traveling casualty, it tasted better than fine, The texture, however, hadn't the chance to shine, Perhaps one of these days I will be able to dine in, To fully enjoy some of this Italian home cookin'.

YUMMY Italian cooking which I crave and have a hard time finding in Utah! I had the butternut squash gnocchi which was full of flavor and very filling! My husband had the Chicken Parmesan which he said was really delicious as well. Our server was extremely nice and even interacted with our 3yr old! Being a server myself, waiting on children can be very trying at times and our server was just delightful with her. Writing this review I am now craving the Gnocchi! The restaurant is located in a little strip mall and we were skeptical at first and very pleased with our dining experience. I have learned not to judge a restaurant by their outer appearance, (my Cafe is located at the bottom of an apartment building which turns people off) but I have learned to dine with an open mind and pallet. I will be back!

I have no idea why this place has received such high reviews. Overall, we found our meals to be disappointing. I had the combo plate with chicken parmesan and spaghetti carbonara. The chicken parmesan itself was okay, but the sauce was way watered down. The spaghetti carbonara was gritty and oily. My husband ordered the chicken cacciatore which consisted of canned vegetables and a lot of watered down sauce. We had the tiramisu for dessert which was the best part of the meal. The service was uncomfortable. I really don't enjoy being called "kid," "honey," or "babe." When our waitress came to take our plates, she asked why we didn't finish our meals. Pray, tell me, how am I supposed to answer that question?! Overall, the Siragusa's does have good prices for a lot of food, but the quality of the food could be much improved upon.

Worst dining experience I have ever had!!!! What little service we had was slow and bad. I ordered Minestrone soup and Joann ordered a salad. The Caesar Salad came out in reasonable time and was very good, but the soup never did come out. Finally after stopping the waitress to cancel the soup, as I did not want it with the main course, she brought it and assured me it would be well ahead of the main course. That scared me that the kitchen was that backed up. (they had a lot of empty tables so they were not that busy). Sure enough half way through the soup, the main courses were served. I had ordered a combo meal of Fettuccine Alfredo and Chicken Parmesan, Bernie Style, with Alfredo instead marinara. I had received the marinara style and asked the waitress if it was the Bernie style since it was red and not white, the waitress pointed to the cheese and said that was what made it Bernie Style. Later she came back with a bowl of Alfredo sauce and said the kitchen had made a mistake. The Alfredo was excellent! One of the best I have ever had. We had an OK Tiramisu for desert. Here is what happened when we were paying the bill, So if the slow service, the screwed up order and soup debacle was not enough, the waitress thought it would be cute to tell me my AMex credit card was declined as a joke! That is the way most people find out that they have had their Identity stolen, so this went over very well with me as I went into utter panic! Between the bad slow service, the cute funny waitress I will never go back. But It was one of the best Alfredo, so I may have to do take out. I really felt sorry for Christine as this was supposed to a fun night out to celebrate her birthday and she had suggested this restaurant, but it will be a dinner to remember.

I wanted something that was fresh and similiar to the food I had in Italy a year ago. I found this place on Yelp and decided to try it. I was blown away at the attentiveness of the staff and the absolute freshness of the food. I had the Gnocchi because it is hard to find it in any restaurant. You could taste that it was home made. It is just a quaint little place on the corner in a shopping plaza, if you blink you would miss it. (acutally I was on the other side of redwood road looking for it) I cannot wait to go back and try more food. The only thing I personally had an issue with was that I don't care for cooked spinach and it was in the sauce. Nothing on Siragusas, just a personal preference I will remember for next time.

I didn't see anything special with this place. The food is about the same quality as fazoli's but more expensive. Pasta was not fresh and over cooked, over sauced, and terribly under seasoned. The servers were a little weird in the sense that they said some aquard and some what inappropriate things, plus they threw the mints that we got at the end on the table. Over all I didn't really care for this place.

I really enjoyed the fried zucchini starter. Very tasty. For entrees (at lunch) I had the Italian beef sandwich and my buddy had the sausage and pepper sandwich - both were good, but mine was a little on the dry side. Coupled with the fries, which weren't that good, the entree was a bit of a disappointment. And although I loved the zucchini, I expected more.

This is some of the best Italian I've ever eaten. Great pasta, tasty pizza, good sandwiches, and great deserts. I really like the fries that come with the sandwiches, the chicken saltinbocca was delicious.

I have been going here since about a month after they opened, Siragusas is a very good restaurant with fantastic service. If you get Kelley as a waitress, she is very friendly, has a great personality, and is a very good server. But all the staff is very friendly and restaurant decor is very comfortable and makes you feel at home. Ross, the chef, is a very nice guy and always comes out to greet us and talk to us when we come in. As for the food, it is very good Italian and very tasty. I would recommend the fried zucchini and Marsala mushrooms as an appetizer. For the entree, I have had almost every pasta dish and have been pleased. I would recommend ordering the chicken piccata, it is not on the menu but he will gladly make it for you. Then comes dessert, their spumoni is very good, it is an italian gelato and tastes great. Definitely a place to try if you haven't already. Great service and great food, will keep coming back for more.

Upon seeing the half-price coupons here on Yelp, I remembered that I completely forgot to mention this great newish restaurant! I don't know why, considering my experience here was absolutely lovely in every way. Blame it on pregnancy brain. Yes, thats a real thing. I may have mentioned a few (or several) times that I despise most chain restaurants, and if I have anything to do with the dining decision, I will avoid them like the plague. Cue places like Siragusas. Great Italian food with an amazingly friendly and warm staff. I really hope this place is around for the long run, because they really could serve as an example of what a restaurant should be. It is tucked away in an unassuming strip mall near Taylorsville (actually, I thought it was IN Taylorsville, but I suppose I haven't been here long enough to actually know where the boundaries lie). We actually almost missed it, so keep a good eye out. I believe we stopped in on a Friday evening, and the place wasn't super busy. I'm pretty sure every single person in the restaurant greeted us in a completely genuine, non-phony way. The inside isn't anything that will blow you away, it almost seems like it used to be a pizza joint? But really, the food makes up for any shortcomings in that department. Per usual, it took me an extensive amount of time to figure out what I wanted. I enlisted help from our server, whose name escapes me. I ended up going with the capellini with basil pesto cream sauce, sans mushrooms of course. Upon recommendation from our server, I added the italian sausage, although I was really thinking shrimp. Manfriend ordered the chicken marsala. The salads that I believe came with our meal (don't quote me.. like I said, the visit was a while ago) were a good size, and the bleu cheese dressing I ordered was chunky and tasted homemade. The one complaint was maybe the lettuce was a teensy bit old. Our food was great.. the basil cream sauce that accompanied my pasta was seriously drinkable. I still wish though that I had gone with my gut and ordered the shrimp.. I feel like it would have gone better with the dish (or maybe just my mood). Although I didn't really eat any of Manfriend's marsala, he said it was pretty good stuff. We both agreed that we would like to try the chicken parmigan next time, as it was something we both kept coming back to while trying to decide on our meal choice. No room for dessert, but all the offerings sounded delish. I know I keep mentioning this, but the service really was on point. I can't stress how important good, friendly service is to me.. but it is the main thing, over food even, that will keep me coming back to a restaurant. It seems the staff of Siragusa's really does care about their patrons, and it geuninely shows.

Stopped in at Siragusa's on Thursday night. I was a little skeptical of the place when I walked in and was the only customer in the whole place. I stayed. Pros: A few standard Italian dishes and a few unique items on the menu. Flavors were good. Service was pretty good overall. Cons: The place smells musty or old, probably due to the swamp cooler. Either the waiter or the cook had a bad cough...at least he was courteous enough to cough in the back, out of view. I'll go back and try more of the good food!

Siragusa's is a very welcome alternative for those who loathe chain restaurants and love Italian food. The restaurant itself is unassuming, located in a strip mall off Redwood Road. The inside is just as simple (not a bad thing, it's quite comfortable and welcoming). The staff is incredibly friendly, and our server greeted us as she held the door open. After she went over the menu, explained the special and offered a recommendation, she disappeared, checking back occasionally (again, a good thing... there's nothing worse than a server who hovers). The food... yum. With a good selection of Italian standards as well as some original offerings, the menu is great. The calamari appetizer was delicious and the pesto and lasagne were perfect. The sweet potato gnocchi was an absolute home run... definitely one of my new favorite meals in the area. And, I'm a big boy always hoping the portions won't leave me wanting more. I wasn't disappointed. The service was exceptional. I judge a good server by the number of times I have to ask for my drink to be refilled, and I can happily report that I didn't have to ask once. My drink was always full, and just as I had finished my garlic bread and was considering asking for another, the server asked if we'd like more. She was on top of it. By the time we'd finished our meal, we felt like we'd made a new friend and had found a new favorite restaurant. The server pulled up a chair at one point to sit and tell us about the photos on the wall which we'd been talking about. And, after we'd finished, left, gone shopping and were loading an unusually sized purchase in our car from the store next door (Savers... who doesn't love a good meal and a good bargain?) she met us in the parking lot to laugh with us as we twisted and pulled and shoved our new treasure into the trunk. Great food, comfortable atmosphere and incredibly friendly service made us feel like we were regulars on our first visit. We'll definitely be back.

I was bowled over by the sweet potato gnocchi ($9.95) which had beautiful color and texture placed on top a bed of sautéed spinach, mushrooms and onions and then bathed in alfredo sauce. The combination of earthy vegetables, slightly sweet gnocchi and cheesy alfredo might sound like an unusual combination but was a knock-out dish that I can see myself placing to-go orders for in the future.

Don't let the boring strip mall scare you off. The food is fantastic here. Go for the sweet potato gnocchi; it's divine. The chicken orzo soup and the pizzas are also tasty. Skip the sandwiches on the menu and go for the entrees. The service is good, too.

There is not enough stars for this place. The staff is amazing and very kind. The owner and his daughter have come out everytime to see us. The food is out of this world. Its fresh and the cook/ owner is very creative. The menu is the perfect size and has something for your italian taste buds. We are from the north east where there are plenty of Italian restaurants...none of them compare. Keep up the great work guys!

For those who consider Olive Garden to be good Italian, keep on walking! This place reminded us of the small, family run Italian restaurants we enjoyed in New York state and in New Jersey. I had heard of Siragusa's in another online review, and wanted to try it with the family, but we also had another new restaurant on the list to try. We literally sat in the parking lot and flipped a coin. Luckily for us, it came up heads and directed us to Siragusa's. Best coin toss ever! First, the service was warm, friendly, and genuine. I can't overemphasize how much that means on a first visit. My wife does not suffer poor service well. From beginning to end, Kelley, our server, was spot on with humor and recommendations. Thank you for making our visit very enjoyable. Second, the food... We ordered Manicotti, Penne Rustica, the Chicken Parm sandwich, and by recommendation, the Sweet Potato Gnocchi, and some garlic cheese bread. The bread was hot and crisp and went well with the bowl of red sauce on the side, which was good enough to drink! The pasta dishes were promptly devoured by my kids, with my 7 year old daughter liking the manicotti enough to polish off the entire dish. The meatballs and Italian sausage in my son's Rustica were very good. I could have eaten a plate of those two elements all on their own. According to my wife, and I agree, a good Chicken Parm is hard to find. It was gone before I could have a taste, so it must have been good. As for the Sweet Potato Gnocchi, the bed of spinach, mushrooms and onions was a perfect counterpoint to the soft, perfectly cooked diamonds of Gnocchi. Often, when Gnocchi is rolled and cut like noodles, it becomes dense and chewy when cooked. Not so here. Once again, the sauce was good enough to drink. The meal was finished off with a really nice cannoli and some gelato for the kids. By the way, the strawberry gelato was wonderful. Finally, the whole experience was perfect for a first visit. I can tell you without reservation that we will be back to try other items on the menu, and I have a feeling that this place will now be in our regular restaurant rotation.

Delicious! My husband and I were a bit skeptical, but decided to try after reading other reviews on Yelp. And the reviews were pretty spot on. Our service was fantastic, our waitress was conversational and funny without being awkward or forced and gave some great recommendations. We had the Bruschetta as an appetizer, and it was so incredibly goooood. Coming out it was warm but not excruciatingly hot like it had been microwaved or something. The bread was crispy and the ingredients tasted fresh. I ordered the lasagne, and it was delish. I couldn't even finish half. My husband ordered the chicken saltimbocca, which was also great. The chicken was fresh and nommy. The prices were definitely reasonable, the food is fresh and the flavors are not your run of the mill Olive Garden. The only thing I was bummed about was the lack of people (granted, we did go for lunch on a weekday), but I'd love to see this place get the recognition I think it deserves. I really want to go back and try the Jumbo Stuffed Shells and gelato for dessert. If you're craving Italian and are sick of Olive Garden and the Spaghetti Factory, why not give Siragusa's a try?

I'll admit from the start - this review is a bit selfish. My husband and I had take-out (we have four kids, so it's hard to actually go out) from Siragusa's last night and it was fantastic, so much so that I'd really like this new little restaurant to stay in business! I'm all for the Mom and Pop places, so I'd love to see them succeed. Like I said, we had take-out, so I can't really comment on the restaurant or service, but the food was wonderful! We started off with the appetizer of fried zucchini. I was hesitant to order it, because every time we get fried zucchini for take-out, it comes home soggy and droopy. This, however, was completely different - zucchini coins fried to perfection in a very nice crust of breading and parmesan cheese, served with a side of creamy, cool dill dipping sauce - yum! My husband ordered the chicken parmesan ($9.95) and I ordered the chicken tortelloni in a creamy tomato sauce with onions, mushrooms and asparagus ($11.95) - both were fantastic, but my husband especially enjoyed his chicken parmesan. I'm excited to go back and try their other dishes. All the prices were very reasonable and, as I mentioned previously, I'm a bit selfish cause I want them to succeed so I can eat all their food!!! YUM!!!

Update: I just don't eat out very often and haven't managed to make it back here yet, but I can't get Siragusa's out of my mind. I'm going to see if I can get a table for this coming Saturday, because my family is having a birthday dinner for me and I want us to eat here. I'll come back and let you know how round 2 goes. **Okay, went for my birthday dinner on Saturday. My entire freaking family was late (true to form), but the server was very nice and understanding while I waited. They were very accommodating to any special requests we had, and had a child's menu and crayons ready to go for my little niece. All the food was spectacular. We had a meatball sandwich, Italian burger, sweet potato gnocchi and I think a couple of veal dishes. My burger came with the most incredible hand-cut waffle fries, which my mom couldn't keep out of. Wonderful, straight down the line. Most of my family had never been there before, but all agree that we need to go again. So, it wasn't a fluke, this place really is amazing. Definitely go.

Not bad. Wish I could say more as the other reviews are so positive but it was only okay. The chicken parmesan was prepared properly, marinara on par, but the pasta was cafeteria quality, unseasoned, and brought the dish down. The spinach artichoke dip was creamy and the parmesan flavor came through but the spinach and artichoke flavors were mild, if present at all. The name is misleading. The tiramisu was bland and unexciting. This place is clearly trying very hard but missing the mark. The restaurant sign is unreadable from the street. For a total cost of $30, I would have expected fresh pasta, and real artichokes. The sad truth is its about the quality of Fazoli's but twice the cost. Dear owner, google "Italian" and see how many restaurants are permanently closed and then consider making FRESH PASTA!

I have visited Siragusas numerous of times and have found myself very pleased every time! My favorite is the sweet potato gnocchi with spinach and mushrooms! I absolutely love mushrooms so this was the dish! Also they've got a secret menu with fried lasagna! Get it Bernie style that way you get the creamy Alfredo under the fried lasagna! Servers are very friendly. If you like simple Italian! This is the place to be!

My favorite Italian restaurant! I haven't had a dish I didn't love yet, and I doubt there ever will be one. Portions are very generous! My favorite so far is the Cappellini with Pesto (w/added Shrimp). I also recommend trying Penne Rustica w/ added Italian sausage. Their root beer float is amazing, and the service is friendly!

By far the best affordable Italian restaurant in SLC county. Don't let the location in WVC scare you away. It is totally with it! When we move back to Sugar House we will be driving back over to eat.

True authentic Italian cuisine!! We usually do take out and it's always speedy and hot! The bread sticks have the perfect amount of butter and garlic. I highly suggest the Cheese Tortolini with Alfredo sauce.

This place is really good, I had them make some fettuccine Alfredo for me and had them add chicken and shrimp. The sauce was really good, tasted home made and the noodles were really good too. Came with a salad which was good as well, and came with some garlic bread as well that was good. Oh and the girl who waited on me for my to go order was extra cute too :) so all in all a good visit.

We've eaten at Siragusa's twice now and loved it both times. The staff is very friendly and professional, and the food is delicious (and comes in generous portions). We also liked that it wasn't too loud and had tasteful music and decor. The second time we went, we announced our engagement to our family and the waitresses were so helpful and professional--and they even brought us out a complimentary dessert. We'll definitely be coming back regularly from now on.

I grew up in the Philadelphia area and so grew up with good Italian cuisine up to my eyeballs. Since leaving I've never had any Italian food as good as that until I found Siragusa's. The food isn't the only good thing either. The staff are friendly and great. The place feels right too with a great atmosphere. All in all a great little place.

I came here for lunch since I was seriously craving spaghetti and meatballs. Their lunch special is a house salad, garlic bread and half portion of their dinner plates. Service is great and the restaurant is pretty clean. Maybe I'm just greedy because I'm still a little hungry after eating pasta, but I don't think there was a enough food for lunch. I ordered the spaghetti and meatballs and it was ok. This is also my first time ordering spaghetti and meatballs because I was too lazy to cook. It tastes like any other spaghetti and meatballs and doesn't stand out much. The garlic bread is big and very yummy! Definitely get that with any of your dishes.

Blame it on Siragusa, now I have a new addiction - Sweet Potato Gnocchi. Omg they are delicious. They are like these playful little chewy dumplings with an extremely cute name. I mean, try saying Gnocchi (Nyoh-kee) with a straight face. I have not eaten much gnocchi to effectively compare but I do know that I want to order this again next time. I ordered the gnocchi as part of the Combination Plate, which I think is a good deal. The companion dish I chose was Manicotti, which is kind of like lasagna but served without meat here. I read somewhere before that Manicotti is actually an Italian American dish, so this is not exactly 'Taste of Italy' but I like it nevertheless. It is delicious, and most importantly not too cheesy as what I always found with many lasagnas I have tasted. I suspect the spinach plays an important role to make the overall taste 'balanced'. I did taste the Chicken Cacciatore, which is slices of grilled chicken in spicy tomato sauce, served over linguine. I found this dish a bit flat, I tasted tomatoes and little of everything else, so I didn't get too excited over it. The chicken does appear juicy and the linguine cooked perfectly but I wish this dish has more taste to it. I recommend this place if you want good Italian food, but probably not in too big of a group. I went there in a group of about 20 and it took long to get our orders. The server said it is because they make every orders fresh, which is good but the amount of waiting is part of a perfect meal. The server also struggled to remember our orders, but I gave her a slack because it is challenging to serve that many people all by herself. Probably good for the place to consider assigning more than one server to make everything smoother. I hope to be back soon.

This is a really legit place for Italian food. Everything we've ordered today was made fresh and not really frozen. When walking into this place it is a totally different feel from outside. It is located in a weird area. The food here was fantastic. It took them a little while to get the food out to us but that is probably because we had such a large group. I ordered their combo plate where you get two half of an order...I got the lasagna and angel hair pasta in pesto sauce (I forgot the name). The lasagna was average, but the pasta in pesto sauce was fantastic!!! I would totally recommend this place esp to go on dates. The price isn't that much as well.

Went here for dinner after looking for an Italian place nearby. Their tortellini, gnocchi, and alfredo pastas were all delicious and worth every bite. We'll definitely come back for the food. The desserts we had were a bit underwhelming and not worth the try, sadly.

Though we were tired from a long day of activity, we decided to do a quick dinner here since it looked good on yelp. The hostess was very friendly, seating us in a quiet corner. It took a while for the waitress too remember we were there but once she did she was decent. She even asked us if we had found them on yelp. I had the sweet potato gnocchi as recommended and my husband had fettucini Alfredo. My gnocchi were delicious, but the Alfredo was just okay. We also had a pitcher of sangria. I wish they would offer pitchers of the house wines ~ would have made my experience even better.

1 word 2 syllables Gnocchi= (NYOH-KEE) How did that work out? Similar to how the word gnocchi looks alien to the actual pronunciation, the exterior of Siragusas in Taylorsville does not accurately portray the excellent food that they provide. I came here with a group a five for a friend's birthday and made reservations in advance just in case. Everybody came at different times and our server checked on our table consistently until everyone finally arrived. I ordered the sweet potato gnocchi and my oh my, it reminded me of korean rice cake dumplings but an Italian version--a creamy sauce with mushrooms and spinach. I was so mesmerized by the chewy soft texture and the rich buttery flavor that before I knew it, everything was gone and I FORGOT to take a picture. Now that truly says something about how great the dish was!!! But no worries, I'll be back to post one up :) 4 stars for their friendly service, my friends all enjoyed their dishes, and mainly the NYOH-KEE!

Went here for our mini bachelorette party. Brides choice. So I definitely didn't know what to order. I ended up getting a chicken and proceuteau (sp?) dish with buttered noodles. The food was excellent. The only reason it didn't get 5 stars, was because the food was swimming in extra virgin olive oil. Otherwise... Would highly recommend it.

I love this place! The owner/operator/Chef puts thought and love into every menu item. (As well as the dècor.) Everything I've had is fresh, delicious, and fulfilling. (chicken gorgonzola, Italian farmhouse chicken, sweet potato gnocchi, shrimp scampi, lasagna, chicken parmesan, and a couple of unique daily specials) And the House made chocolate mousse, tiramisu, cannoli, and cheesecake tart are hard to resist! Next visit, I plan to try the chicken Marsala. Mr H. and I went for Sunday brunch a couple of times and thoroughly enjoyed it--sad to see they're now closed Sundays. (I know the Cottonwood Heights location isn't far, but this one is just a few blocks from home.) We're really happy to see they've stayed open here...we were nervous about the location when they first opened!

Came here for dinner because reviews that I read on yelp. I tried the sweet potato gnocchi and my boyfriend had a combination plate. Mine was really good, and our waitress (Lisa) was very attentive considering it was a Saturday night and pretty busy. The only thing that upset me was that my desserts didn't look nearly as great as others that I saw on yelp. (see pictures) I felt like my cannoli was small and the tiramisu was falling a part. But overall I did really like this restaurant, and will come again another time.

I love this place! It fills a much needed void in this area of no good Italian restaurants. I love the fried lasagna it's not on the menu but they will make it for you! I love that they are open on Sunday as well. I love that I can walk to this place on a nice day. I just love this place! (they are no longer open on Sunday) :( great food will have to wait til Monday.

I've been debating whether or not to post a review for this place for over a month now, but finally decided I needed to. My family and I (6 adults and 1 baby) came here for my dad's birthday. He and my mom had been raving about it for a few weeks, and we thought why not. It left a lot be desired. First off, the location. It's in a weird strip mall by a thrift store. That's neither a negative or a plus to me, but it felt odd. BUT you wouldn't know it by being IN the restaurant. Secondly, the service. I don't remember our waitress's name. Just that she wasn't very attentive at all. It was a Monday night, it was far from busy, but still she pretty much ignored us for most the night and towards the end my dad was getting a bit anxious about the situation and tracked her down. She didn't tell us what she liked, she didn't seem personable, all in all, was less than impressed. Third, the food. I read reviews before we went, I read reviews for their Midvale location. I looked at the menu. I did everything I could to prepare myself. Because some of the reviews for the Midvale location said they didn't use fresh food, I expected canned and jarred items. When it was time to order (and the waitress could be bothered to take our orders) we all made our selections and although I don't remember what everyone got, there was one consistent remark "Bleh! It's so wet!". Now I'm not Italian by any means, but I've never had good anything so soupy without ordering a soup. And it wasn't just mine! I had the shrimp scampi but my 12 shrimp (that's what the menu boasts "12 shrimp in every plate!!!", that's just tacky) could have swum away. And my sister's chicken parmesan was more water than sauce. Gross. The bread was moderately ok, but nothing I'd go back for. And the beer I got was insanely sticky on the outside (remedied with another glass). Also, can I just say that my dad and I are severely allergic to tree nuts and peanuts, but my dad is able to eat the pesto, making me think it doesn't actually contain any nuts? Just a bit of food for thought. Overall, I'm not impressed and neither was my fiance. And I probably won't be going back. I know my parents probably will, and that's fine, just don't ever invite me to go with.

Outstanding. A little bit of Italy in Utah. I'm from the east coast and grew up in an Italian neighborhood. This was a sweet reminder of wonderful small Italian restaurants all throughout New York and New Jersey. Everything about this place was great. The waitress was wonderful and amazingly attentive. The choices were excellent and the entrees above average. Be sure to have the mushroom appetizer. Was a great place for our business lunch as well. I'm taking my wife to dinner there. Don't miss out on this one!

I have been here 3 times so I now feel like I can give my honest opinion. This place has some highs and some lows. Plenty of parking which is good. And a decent atmosphere. Let's start with the good stuff. The cheese garlic bread is really good and comes with a side of marinara for dipping. But for a full order is $4.50 and you get 4 pieces so it is a little overpriced. I enjoy the lasagna and almost always order it. I also like the chicken parm and the Alfredo. The Alfredo sauce is very rich and creamy. My husband is crazy about the chicken saltimbocca. The flavor is so good. They use sage and it pairs really well with the dish. He also likes the spaghetti carbonara. Now to the bad. The pizza crust has been way too soft on the bottom both times my son has ordered it. It is disappointing. The dinner salad is nothing more than a pile of iceberg lettuce with a couple cucumbers and tomato slices. And the eggs tasted a little like sulfur-probably because they were over-boiled. And there is one waitress that is not so good. I haven't caught her name but she is blonde and calls everyone Hun or Sweetie or Babe. It is just too much! It doesn't seem sincere and quite frankly, I don't like her calling my husband pet names even though I'm sure it is harmless. Just a little unprofessional. The food is enough to keep us coming back though. A great find and good to support a great local business.

Food is amazing but I guess service can be hit or miss. I started meeting with friends here a few times a month so we are almost regulars. More than fair prices for excellent food. I have yet to have a meal I haven't loved. Generally service is great, however it can be severely lacking. I have gone an entire visit without receiving a single refill even after asking our waiter... Hopefully next time I come the service will be back up to par.

Great food and friendly staff. Decor is a bit dated but it wouldn't be true Italian food with modern day decor, right? A bit of everything here. Seafood, bovine, pork, baby bovine, chicken, etc. Had the shrimp gorgonzola. Delicious. Would like to see a whole wheat pasta option. Otherwise this is a great place for authentic Italian food.

Started with garlic cheese bread with red sauce and I thought the bread was too thick as I like more cheese and less bread. Would not have that again. The spaghetti and meatballs were tasty but I thought it was rather small in size. It came with an iceberg salad which was just okay. The service was good and it is a small place but okay for lunch. Not fancy, just casual. Almost 4 stars but lacks ambience.

I've now visited Siragusa's twice: once for dinner and once for lunch. I have to say, I'm a fan! My first visit I tried the Chicken Gorgonzola which I was very pleased with. The gorgonzola cream sauce was well balanced and not overpowering, and I liked the mushrooms and artichokes in it. For lunch I had the Italian Farmhouse Chicken which definitely helped me get my carbs fix for the week. Service here is always super friendly and the waiters are ready to provide their recommendations which I like. If you're looking for a locally owned and casual Italian restaurant, Siragusa's Taste of Italy is the place to go to.

Went here for the 4th time Saturday and they seemed a little off this time, we always get the mushroom Marsala because it is great and you can't go wrong with it. This time we tried the trio appetizer as well and we were all disappointed the cheese triangles were cold and had a old grease taste to them, the calamari was cold as well i don't know if the plate was cold when they platted it or it sat for a bit the appetizers did come out quick so cant make heads or tails of the reason of it being that cold the fried zucchini was the only thing on the plate that was warm. We all ordered salad it they have improved it greatly since our first visit 2 years ago. They have added egg and thinly sliced red onions to their side salads now and they are very much worth the buck 50 added to the dinner cost. I always try something different when I we go out so I tried the combo plate 2( items) lasagna and spicy clam and linguine, there was no spice to the clam linguine at all however it was very good then the lasagna was dry no sauce at all tasted pretty bad i think it might have set out a while and I hate to say this but the frozen Maria Calendars you can buy at any grocery store is better, maybe a bad batch. My brother said his veal Parmesan was good, and the wife liked her Chicken Parmesan then we all tried the cannoli and it was okay that's why only 4 stars for the overall experience we will be back to try again everyone has an off night. In fact I was just told we will go again tonight so I will update later:) PS almost forgot the service was really good however we felt rushed at the beginning the waitress kept coming over every 2 minutes to see if we were ready to order yet and after the 4th time I told her we are in no hurry tonight we will be finishing our bottle of wine and relaxing tonight, after that she understood that we were going to be there a while. UPDATE WE WENT BACK ON FRIDAY NIGHT AND THEY WERE ON, I FOUND MY NEW FAVORITE DISH AND IT IS THE SWEET POTATO GNOCCHI PRONOUNCED (NO-KEY) FOR US UNEDGEMAKATED PEOPLE. I KIND OF WISH I WOULD NOT HAVE FOUND IT BECAUSE NOW I WILL BE VERY HARD PRESSED TO TRY ANYTHING ELSE. THANKS GUYS WE WILL BE BACK!

Not only the best Italian restaurant I have been to, but one of the best restaurants I have ever been to. Went on Sunday afternoon with my wife. We both had the fried lasagna special. INCREDIBLE! The already great tasting lasagna is breaded and fried, covered in marinara and served on a base of noodles with Alfredo sauce. Everything together is incredible. The service was great. It was kind of busy when we arrived, but everyone went out if their way to make sure we were well served and treated like we were the only people there.

This place reminds me of the neighborhood Italian joints back home. The lasagna, fettuccine Alfredo and the veal parm were all really good. Nothing fancy, just as I expected. I don't see veal parmigiana very often here, so I'm happy to see someone makes it. The staff treated us well, from the time the place was hopping, until we left last ones out. The sangria was fantastic and they had real cannolis (though I will remember to ask for them to hold the chocolate syrup next time)

I love this place! I have a gluten allergy so my choices of eating out is limited but that have so many choices and also a great gluten free appetizer cheesy bread. The staff was super conscientious and friendly. My boyfriend and I will definitely be back.

Really good food, as authentic as you can get. If your really hungry don't order the lunch special because its not enough. Can be pricey but I think worth it and don't forget the extra garlic bread.

1 word 2 syllables Gnocchi= (NYOH-KEE) How did that work out?

Loved this place! Thank you to the reviews here, I checked this place out. I now suggest friends and family members to come here. The decor is a bit out of date but honestly the food and service was great. I would go here over Olive Garden any day.

True authentic Italian cuisine!! We usually do take out and it's always speedy and hot! The bread sticks have the perfect amount of butter and garlic. I highly suggest the Cheese Tortolini with Alfredo sauce.

Don't let the boring strip mall scare you off. The food is fantastic here. Go for the sweet potato gnocchi; it's divine. The chicken orzo soup and the pizzas are also tasty. Skip the sandwiches on the menu and go for the entrees. The service is good, too.

  • Star L.

Loved this place! Thank you to the reviews here, I checked this place out. I now suggest friends and family members to come here. The decor is a bit out of date but honestly the food and service was great. I would go here over Olive Garden any day.

True authentic Italian cuisine!! We usually do take out and it's always speedy and hot! The bread sticks have the perfect amount of butter and garlic. I highly suggest the Cheese Tortolini with Alfredo sauce.

  • Steve T.

If you want homemade Italian, this is the place to go. The atmosphere is cozy and the waitstaff are friendly.

I was taken to Siragusa's for lunch and it was a delightful surprise. The place doesn't look like much from the outside, but inside it's quaint and welcoming.

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.

Pizza

Pizza is a famous Italian dish savored around the world. The entire credit for the popularity of Pizza in the United States goes to the chain of pizzerias all over the country. While the base and the texture of Pizza remains same across the globe, it's the toppings that differs from country to country. In the United States, you will find the top pizzerias serving pizzas with the toppings of mainly beef, bacon, chicken, ham, and sausage for the non-vegetarians. Other than these famous meat options, Pizzas with veg toppings such as mushrooms, pepperonis, garlic, tomatoes, spinach, etc. are also famous in most restaurants in the United States.

Irrespective of your locality, you will find a variety of different restaurants in your cities offering pizzas of all different types. Pizza is hot favorite among people of all ages in the United States. A large size pizza is enough to feed a family of 3 or 4 at large. Pizza is also the most preferred food whenever a group of friends is hanging out together. Pizza gained popularity in the United States after the American soldiers stationed in Italy returned from World War II.

Over the years, different pizzerias in the United States have developed their own respective regional variations. Pizza gained popularity as the iconic dish in the United States in the second half of the 20th century. Whether you prefer thin or thick crust pizza, you can find a pizza of your preference at the best pizza restaurants in your city.
