We received a $50 gift certificate from a friend and were excited to go for dinner at the Sundance resort. The beauty that surrounds the restaurant was quickly muted in what was an overpriced, lousy meal. My wife ordered the rib eye for around $35 that was tough and had zero flavor, to top it off it was served with instant potatoes that melted and were running into the meat. My chicken was very weak and seriously we could've gotten more pleasure from a fast food meal somewhere. The bill was around $70 and thank heavens we had a $50 gift certificate. I was embarrassed for them on how lousy the meal was, I would never go back. Mr. Redford should spare a little time from his anti global warming efforts and work on a menu redo!

I had dinner here in a group of 12 this week. They seated us on our own room, which gave us a very personal feel. The service was excellent and the ambiance was really quite lovely. Rustic and warm with fireplaces everywhere... I could imagine coming in the winter to warm up and have a great meal. This place is very relaxing; we had a 3.5 hour dining experience. The roasted chicken was tender and flavorful, while the quinoa salad must have been cooked in chicken stock because it had such a rich flavor. We shared at the table, something we call "collaborative eating" and every type of vegetable I tasted was perfectly cooked! Asparagus, snap peas and broccolini were great! The wines that were chosen were very nice. I particularly liked the Road 31 Wine CO. Pinot... luscious! Warm peach cobbler, with vanilla ice cream was really killer, however, since I have a serious addiction to ice cream, the bowl of plain ice cream was actually my favorite. I also tasted the chocolate tart... worth skipping, very bland. Overall, highly recommended, get the local stuff!

went back for 2nd round. last night we ate at the owl but food from foundry. at lunch we went there and ate: ruben sandwich. my friend didn't finish the food. so I assume the ruben wasn't that good. I had the pasta Seafood Pappardelle. it was great. I love the sauce and the pasta cook to perfection. Grilled Chicken Cordon Bleu Sandwich looks so dry, but my other friends likes it. the place is much nicer than the owl, but if you want to relax and listen to music, I think the owl is more casual and the foundry is more romantic. The service was bad. because she never showed up after took the order and only shows up to give us the check.

Experience Number Two in Robert Redford's resto line-up....After eating at Zoom the night before, I can say the Foundry was much better. Better, but not great. The interior of this restaurant is very lovely, I cannot fault it. Lush, earthen-colored murals of horses, a pretty staggering collection of old farm equipment bejewels a massive wood wall, a working kitchen within view. The servers are encouraged to dress "old timey" -- so a lot of the young men have their hair combed like Wyatt Earp. It's pretty charming. I ate the steak sandwich for lunch, which could have been tasty, were it not for the one-inch thread of inedible gristle running through it end to end. I had two bites and after pulling half of the last bite out of my mouth in front of everyone, took the rest home. There, I mutilated it, only to render one more bite from it. They really should have a closer look at their cuts of meat. Our friends said the burger was great. No one else said much about their meals. The homemade raspberry tea (teeming with floating fresh raspberries - free refills) was divine -- Can I come back to a restaurant just for the iced tea? Maybe.

I came here this past weekend while visiting my brother in Utah. We came here after a full day of skiing, so I had definitely worked up an appetite. We had the flatbread to start ($9) which was served with a delicious fresh ricotta cheese and roasted red pepper jelly. Super yummy. I had the salmon for my main course ($23), which was buttery and very good. the roast potatoes could use a smidge more flavoring of some type, but it was still delicious. My brother had the rib eye steak, and my Sister-in-law had the trout: we were all pleased. We got a trip of deserts to share: the blondie sundae (which was the favorite of everyone), the pumpkin bread pudding and the chocolate truffle cake ($6.75 each). All delicious. I definitely gained back whatever calories I had lost on the slopes.

Everything my wife and I had there was good. The baby iceburge salad was the best of the $8 salads. The staff was friendly and provided good service. Point of interest most of the items on the menu can be purchased from the owl bar next door.

Sundance Resort is amazing as is the food just about anywhere on the resort. I stayed at the resort for 5 days and ate here for breakfast almost every morning since it was included as part of the package we bought. I don't typically expect much from package meals but this place was great. The Sunday brunch is absolutely fantastic. I could have spent all day in there with a feedbag strapped on. But since that could have gotten ugly I settled for their banana coconut french toast with vanilla butter that was easily the best french toast I've ever had. EVER. If you ever get the chance to vacation here definitely check this place out. Cool atmosphere, great people, and delicious food. You won't be disappointed.

We came here during the week between closing the slopes and opening back up for summer visitors so it was nice and quiet. I enjoyed my salmon (very, very much). Our service was excellent - we were there for a relaxing dinner and our server allowed us to take our time and enjoy ourselves. The atmosphere is exactly how you'd imagine it: rustic and enchanting.

What a special day we had at Sundance! We took a drive around the Alpine Loop (as beautiful as it gets!!) and made a stop at the Foundry Grill at Sundance Resort for Sunday Brunch. Prepare yourself for a feast of the senses! Carved meats, pasta salad with tomato basil vinaigrette, egg and chorizo burritos, Utah trout and lime orzo with lobster cream sauce, albacore tuna with avocado and chipotle aoli, and my favorite zucchini pecan french toast. And save room for some banana cheesecake or dried fruit bread pudding. Their brunch spread is the best around and the perfect spot for a special celebration.

I went for dinner last night and expected more of this restaurant. When I'm spending over $100 for dinner at a grill, not a fine dining restaurant, in Utah, my expectations are pretty high and unfortunately this grill didn't live up. The ambience is very nice and the servers friendly. We started out with the bruschetta which was delicious. It is served on very thin, toasted bread and the topping includes house-made mozzarella which was a nice touch. Next we had their bell pepper soup which was also tasty. I love it when restaurants put their own spin on a dish to make it delicious and the Foundry Grill did that with both the bruschetta and the soup. However, the next two courses were slightly disappointing. My husband and I split the wedge salad which was pretty straightforward - tomatoes, bacon, iceberg lettuce and ranch. It was good but nothing special, nothing different. For a main entree I ordered the halibut. On the menu it states the halibut is served with a corn and crab risotto but instead it came out on a crab cake, not creamy risotto, and it wasn't very good. The halibut was seared well, but overseasoned, and the mango sauce was pretty good. My husband's pork chop was tender, but a bit salty and the apricot chutney was not very good. The garlic mashed potatoes were decent, but not melt in your mouth creamy. Overall, the food was filling and tasty but not worth $115.

Beautiful atmoshphere, incredible food, great service. What more could you possibly want? The moment I stepped in I said I wanted to go back again! Meatloaf gets and A+ and the Mountain Cooler is a must.

Sundance Resort, a place to go, even if only to try the zipline. :-) While you are there is worth trying the restaurant, very good service, excellent food and very nice location. Worth going back.

Great place to grab a casual bite at this lovely mountain resort. Food is tasty and moderately priced. Try one of their excellent alcohol-free drinks. Eating outside in the summer is lovely.

This place is fantastic. We've probably been here a dozen times. The wooden lodge interior is very cozy and inviting (wood-burning fire, nestled window views), but is also truly chic without the chintz of the latest trend on HGTV. Their meat and fish dishes and pizzas are excellent (I've never gone wrong here) and their tortilla soup is a must. Clear, fresh, and fragrant with large chunks of avocado. If you are looking for a fantasy mountain lodge meal, this is it!

  • Melissa K.

Want to dine in a mountain setting with wood burning fireplaces, stone covered walls and aspen tree view, well then this is your place. My group cozied up next to the window and ordered a round of ginger beer mountain coolers. We had the pleasure of sitting with the general manager Lucy who told us about the history of Sundance Resort and Robert Redfords vision while we noshed on the housemade italian sausage pizza. Its normally cut to 6 slices but the accommodated our group of 8 but adding 2 extra cuts. The soup of the day was fire roasted tomato and came in a bowl big enough for 3, so definitely keep that in mind if you are also ordering a meal. The servers were knowledgeable and efficient, and had great suggestions for us. We almost all ordered what the servers suggested! I ordered the southwestern chicken cobb and the bacon ranch dressing was perfect! The portobello sandwich to my right was double the size of my fists and looked juicy and savory. The fish tacos to my left were a little small but packed with flavor! And lastly the ruebens were the biggest hit at the table! Sundance has a special feel to it and the Foundry restaurant is a great place to grab a meal and catch up with friends while enjoying your stay at the resort.

For the price, I was really hoping to get my socks blown off. I tried some of the meatloaf and personally ordered the chicken and was fairly underwhelmed. It's an experience to say you tried an expensive, very beautiful restaurant in Park City, I'll give it that. But for the money, I'd rather stick in Salt Lake City and try some phenomenal dishes for half the price. At the end of the day, you aren't eating bad food, but it's just not worth the $100 price tag for two meals.

    (3)
  • Jonathan B.

Not impressed at all. Our pizzas were burned, and the food was lower quality than I expected. There are much better options for the price elsewhere.

The best chicken pot pie I have ever eaten. And somewhat offbeat ingredients: in addition to yellow carrots, there were definitely yellow beets, and maybe even some pumpkin (maybe not.) Anyway, it was fantastic. The staff was really friendly and accommodating and had great drink suggestions. And even though there are no communal tables, it's the kind of place that naturally encourages interaction with the people around you. So although I don't know if any of the other food here matches up to the excellent pot pie, that seems to be the case since the 3 women I spoke with at the table next to me all were definitely enjoying their lunch.

This place is the best. Luckily it dumped about 12 inches of snow the day before we came so the outside scenery was amazing. Food in here is excellent and we came for lunch. Service was spot on and we had the Brussel Sports appetizer, the steak sandwiches, outstanding, Ruben was perfect as well. Did I mention the service? Never once had an empty glass and the waiter was very attentive while not be too obtrusive. Great place that always tops our visit to Park City.

  • Lori N.

Pretty average food for slightly more than average prices. I ordered the portobello mushroom sandwich ($14) that came with either fries or a side salad. The side salad is basically 2 butter lettuce leaves & dressing. I opted for veggies anyway & ordered a side of garlic fries ($6) which were pretty tasty, but not as much garlic as I would have liked. Overall, this is probably the best we could have done in the area for lunch. The lodge is great & everyone who works here seems genuinely nice & was in a good mood, so dining is pleasant. If you go inside to the bakery, there are really delicious looking pastries & sandwiches/salad to go, so that's a good option if you want something fast.

Loved the tenderloin sandwich! We aren't in this area often, but having to write this review and think about how good the food was makes we want to go back right now!

Hearty portions of unpretentious, carefully prepared food and desserts from very fresh ingredients, showing sparks of innovation (but not too much). Extremely attentive service, though too many questions at times. Uninspiring wine list. The Owl Bar next door had a more interesting wine list, but hypnotizing live music. The pan-seared rainbow trout was amazing. My friend's portobello with squash/kale/brussel sprouts also looked great. Desserts also made it worth the long trek from Park City.

Went here for dinner with a friend. Since I was not too hungry, I ordered the scallop appetizer and the wedge salad and both were excellent! The two large scallops were so tender and cooked perfectly and the wedge salad was the best I have ever had! I tasted my friend's cornbread (which came with her ribs) and it was slightly sweet and so delicious! My new favorite restaurant in Utah. I heard the Sunday brunch was amazing also.

This review needs an update to reflect the transcendental experience that is the Sunday brunch buffet. I overheard this conversation with the hostess the last time we had it: "Are you guys doing some buffet?"..."Yes."..."How much is it?"..."$30 per person"..."Oh...well, I think we'll just grab something at the deli." It was like watching somebody buy a flip phone because an iPhone was too pricey. It's literally the best brunch buffet I've ever had. (Edging out Veranda in Vegas.) Chocolate chip pancakes with whiskey butter...amazing pot roast, lamb thigh on the cutting board, smoked salmon, chicken with potato gnocchi, mighty leaf tea, chocolate chip bread pudding, prime rib. That was the 2nd time - they had added several things in a couple months. Absolutely worth a trip from just about anywhere.

This is definitely the place to go if you're in Provo. Sundance was a wonderful place to have dinner. The menu has a wonderful selection of freshly created meals using top notch ingredients. Tonight I tried the short ribs set beautifully atop a medley of Brussels sprouts, butternut squash and turnips. The meat was tender and moist with a light marbling of fat. The veggies were cooked perfectly without being too mushy or crunchy. It was the best meal I've had in years! My dinner companion had the pork chop which was beautifully set on the plate with the bone still in it. Another hit and a favorite of much of the staff, as I was told. Normally passing on desert I had to break the rule and try their Apple pie. Served as a huge piece of freshly made pie with a scoop of cinnamon ice cream on top and cranberry compote on the side. It was served partially warm, but could have been a little hotter to make it a full blown ten This was a very special place and I'm sure it would be wonderful to celebrate a special event. They make you feel like a celebrity. I very much enjoyed the meal, the service and the ambience.

My first time here after years of skipping the Foundry for the Tree Room was a very good experience. The next one was good. And, so it goes. Each time was a little bit less good. Servers, when they are being a little too honest, agreed that things are going downhill. It's always been a place who's quality is cyclical. It looks like it's heading through a lower point. That's too bad because the location is wonderful and the service if very good. The food. The short ribs are braised too long and they are a bit dry. The salmon is a hit, or miss, as to if it will be cooked properly. The creme brulee is an after thought. It looks like it's time to hit the tree room again.

A wonderful meal in a beautiful setting. We were 2 adults and 2 kids, and were pleasantly surprised to find a kids menu. We were there in the off season so was quiet and lovely. The Tree Room was already closed, but I couldn't imagine it being any better. The food and atmosphere cap tired the essence of Sundance and made for a memorable dinner. Don't miss this one.

Now this was incredible! The food and service was over the top. My friend and I had the lamb rib appetizer. Out of this world great. The atmosphere and presentation was exceptional and everything was seasoned correctly. I only wish this restaurant was in Greensboro, NC where we pay the same price for food but there is nothing comparable in taste or service in Greensboro. A wonderful time!

$45 for two people for a mediocre lunch, so yeah, I've experienced better. BF and I went to check out Sundance and grab some lunch. We were told the wait to sit outside was just a few minutes but I was disappointed to wait closer to 15 minutes and watch others who arrived after us be seated first. I guess as tables for four opened, they sat parties of four that just arrived, and waited for a two-top to open for us Anyway, our waitress was cute and friendly so that was definitely a plus. BF had fish tacos with a green salad and I had the chicken sandwich with sweet potato fries. BF and I were both going to munch on the fries so we were bummed that they were cold upon arrival. Perhaps if we had done big hike or long bike ride before our lunch it would have tasted better but for the famed Sundance Resort I expected more. :-(

I have never had a bad experience making a trip up to Sundance to the Foundry Grill. Always great service with very good food. This trip was made for their incredible Sunday brunch buffet. And when you hear buffet it's sometimes a turn off. Put this is the exception to that rule for sure. An overwhelming amount of brunch favorites. Plus an omelet station and meat carving area with prime rib. You can really tell they put a lot of effort into the food. I would say it's a must try while in the area. And while you are up in Sundance you may as well enjoy the beautiful scenery it offers with it. And make sure on your way out to get a homemade sucker in the store. I can't wait to get back up to this place. OH and a side note, get reservation before heading up. Especially if you have more than two people.

I was at the Foundry Grill Restaurant for a business lunch. It's never a place I would choose for myself, as it's purely for the tourist trade. My lunch started with a salad that was huge--more than large enough on its own for lunch. It was nondescript, for the most part. Not bad. Not memorable. I got it with shrimp, which did help a bit. I ordered the Brisket Sandwich with fries. The brisket was cut paper-thin. I guess someone likes it that way, but I wouldn't do that to good brisket. It was on a huge roll that overwhelmed it, so I just discarded all that bread. There was a nicely spicy red sauce on the brisket that added some desperately needed flavor. In general, I thought the portion proportions were just not right. It wasn't awful, but for the prices they charge at this tourist trap, "meh" just about covers it.

One of the best dining experiences we have had in a while (and we eat out MUCH more than we should... just check out my UrbanSpoon profile - urbanspoon.com/u/profile… ). We rode the chairlift and when we were done we had worked up an appetite... I don't know how since we just sat on the chairlift :-) We didn't have a reservation and we had a baby with us but they graciously seated us promptly and brought out water and delicious, fresh bread and butter. We ordered the Rotisserie Pork based on several reviews. I can see why it gets rave reviews because it's the best pork I have ever eaten. The plating was beautiful, the asparagus was cooked to perfection, the pork was tender, the mashed potatoes were just right, and the cherries on top were literally a cherry on the top of a wonderful meal! I HIGHLY recommend it. The Summer Vegetable Linguini seemed like a good option but our server recommended a meat since it is a light meal. I chose the chicken and it tasted very good. I'm not going to say I didn't like the linguini because it was very good, but after tasting the pork it's hard to recommend anything else. We finished off with the Apple Pie. It came with a ball of gelato (vanilla I believe?) and was pretty tasty. It is extremely sweet with the caramel drizzled on top so if you don't have a sweet tooth, you'll want to avoid this dessert. The atmosphere was very enjoyable near the fire in the front. We could watch the chefs in the kitchen one way or admire the autumn leaves out the window the other way. In some ways it was romantic even though there were a few kids in the restaurant. In other ways it felt like grandma's house (albeit your rich grandma) because of the comfy cabin decor. The servers were friendly, quick, and knowledgeable. I'm happy that we found another wonderful dining experience in Utah even if it is up the canyon at Sundance. That just makes it that much more enjoyable as you view the beautiful scenery up and down the canyon!

My wife and I took our son up to the brunch and it was hard to stop eating. Really wide variety of amazing options to choose from. I love what sundance is doing for the area.

A delicious lunch in a restaurant that felt like a peaceful retreat from the hustle and bustle of a big city. We sat in the patio area with a tiny waterfall to provide some ambient background noise. The lunch prices, we thought, were surprisingly reasonable considering this was the Sundance resort. And lest you think that the decent price meant a small quantity of food, the dishes were very generously portioned, particularly if you had a salad. Wow, what not to like? Even the children's dishes were generously portioned and reasonably priced. Wait staff was attentive and friendly, albiet we were eating lunch in mid-afternoon so things were probably pretty quiet by this time. Would not hesitate to return again if we were in the area as it turned out to be one of our most relaxing meals of our 2 week trip.

Stayed at Sundance for a week in February with my boyfriend, his sister and her husband. We ate at the Foundry Grill twice, once for lunch the day we arrived after not eating since 5AM EST (so anything would have tasted good) and once for dinner. Both menus were pretty much the same with the exception of a few entrees. BUT after reading all these reviews, the meal I really wish we made it to is brunch! Too busy skiing, no rest for the weary... The Foundry Grill has a rustic and unique decor with huge tools hanging on the walls. I liked the large chairs and that the tables are spread out so you are not on top of each other. The service was friendly and attentive too. My favorites of the dishes we had were: Marinated Roasted Beets, Arugula Frisee Salad, and Filet Mignon. It's a little overpriced for what you get but the coziness and convenience makes up for it!

The Foundry Grill is the casual restaurant at Sundance. During our weekend, we came twice-- once for brunch with the regular menu and once for brunch with the buffet. The eggs that came with everything with the breakfast were great. I had the smoked trout hash and it was a little bit salty, but you can blame the "smoked" part for that-- the trout was great and so was everything else in it. My parents both had omelettes and liked them. Being able to pick your own fillings is nice. Bacon is always good, obviously, but it was especially good here. The highlight? The pancakes. Oh my God, the pancakes. And really, I'm not a breakfast person, but these were some of the best I've ever had. (Can you tell I was jealous of my boyfriend's order?) The blueberry ones in the buffet the next day were good, but not quite as much as the ones on the regular menu, but that's probably just the difference between made-to-order and buffet. This review distilled down to one word: pancakes.

The atmosphere is amazing, especially in the summer. Sit out on the patio and just enjoy. The menu is decent for both lunch and dinner, and the meals I've had are just the right portion, but light enough to make you feel good.

Foundry grill is my favorite place in Utah for a really nice, fancy dinner in a shabby chic environment. The menu changes regularly to match what's available, which is sort of a two-edged sword for me. I love trying new dishes and it's great that it's fresh, but it hasn't always been consistent. I usually go with a group of four, and we all try each other's entrees. Generally, 3/4 are incredibly, and the fourth is just good. Make sure to get recommendations from your waiter, as they are usually very knowledgable about the menu, and plan on spending a lot of money so you can try an appetizer, entree, and dessert, because all three will be amazing!

We were here in mid-October, which has always been my favorite time to see Sundance. It's breathtaking. And already cold. Hmmm, wine? We made our way to The Foundry Grill. We were seated after a short wait, and greeted almost immediately by our waiter who promply took our drink order. Pricey, but nice wine list - I believe the same selections can be found at The Tree Room. As we were awaiting the arrival of our drinks, we notice Redford himself being escorted by the Hostess back to another room where there seemed to be a lot of hub-bub going on for the past few minutes. A group of women were then escorted in the opposite direction, and a good number of them didn't look pleased. I took this opp to visit the ladies room in hopes of getting the scoop on the way...OH I certainly got an earful! Two of the ladies detoured into the restroom, and I was right on their heels. From my front row seat (so to speak), I was aural witness to all gory details of The Incident. Evidently, Mr. Redford likes sitting at *his* table when he spontaneously visits his restaurants without notifying anyone he's coming, regardless of who may or may not be currently occupying it. There were many more details about what was said, and how it was dealt with, but I'll spare you those. Suffice to say, I hung out for the duration. If the story hadn't been so true, and so egregious, I could have appreciated popcorn. Okay, probably not. After the show, I returned to my table to download the deets to Hubby. Of course, his jaw was as dropped as mine. Our food was delivered shortly thereafter, and we picked at it, because it really did look and taste pretty good, but the whole experience was more or less ruined for us after that. The braised pork was cooked properly, although they could have removed a bit more fat. The garlic mashed potatoes had my vote for the best item of the meal. Creamy, with the perfect amount of roasted garic flavor. I took them home in a doggy bag. Hubby tried to enjoy his NY Strip, but said the sauce was weird, which was supposed to be marsala but clearly wasn't. No doggy bag was requested. The entire server team seemed embarrassed, and ours really clammed up. We pretty much had the credit card ready upon delivery of the check, and made our departure as rapidly as possible. On our way out, we heard several people talking about it. Apparently, we weren't the only ones who were less than pleased with the situation. I struggled when considering whether to include all the dirty details in my review, primarily because it really wasn't the restaurant staff's fault at all. The food and service were fine, and I'm sure we would have enjoyed it a lot had we not been thwarted from our perfectly lovely evening. But in the end, I have a hard time supporting the establishment due to its owner. I feel bad for the restaurant staff, but if this sort of behavior occurs regularly, there are surely more almost-patrons out there who could have had a great experience at Foundry Grill. Sad. The three stars are for the food, the poor staff, and the beautiful surroundings.

Went for breakfast, the cook tried three times to make eggs over easy, and failed. If the cook can't make eggs for breakfast, what's the deal. Maybe they should look for a new cook, left with no breakfast.

This place needs about 10 more stars for the job they did yesterday for Mother's Day Brunch! I don't even know where to begin. It's been a full 24 hours and I still don't think I could eat a bite of food. 1) because I'm still full and 2) because I think anything else I eat would be such a disappointment after the phenomenal items of which I partook yesterday that I don't want to feel that today. They had Cold items, salads, unpeeled shrimp, smoked Salmon (the best I've ever tasted!!! I could have eaten a pound of this stuff had there not been so many other things I wanted to try), pastries (so light and fluffy, it's like I'd never had pastries before), cheeses, fruit, everything. It was a nice start to a great meal for sure (is it enough to call this a meal? It was more like 6 meals when all was said and done.) Then I went to the carving station and got the leg of lamb with mint jelly. This was no normal mint jelly, it had something else in it that was so tasty!!! And the lamb was so good. I don't know when the last time was I ate lamb, but this made me want to have it more often...at the Foundry Grill, anyway. The Pit ham and Prime Rib were also incredible, and the horse radish for the Prime Rib was the best I've ever had. Seriously, even the condiments were amazing! From there, I had breakfast items - delicious thick cut french toast, bacon, sausage (probably about the only thing I didn't really enjoy, but I'm not a sausage links guy, I prefer the patties), etc. ALL really good. By now however, my stomach it starting to get REALLY full. But I soldiered on. The next several plates included Teriyaki Pork loin, Blackened Salmon in Lobster Sauce and this macaroni and cheese with chorizo that was really good (though my Girlfriend didn't like it much, for some reason?) I also got the sautéed beans and various vegetable options, as I was really feeling a need for some fiber by this point. All, perfectly prepared. Then there was dessert, I didn't even know what to do. The kids had been eating giant, chocolate covered strawberries and caramels, and cheesecake bites and all sorts of delicacies for a while but the time I was ready for dessert, so I figured I'd try things they didn't. I got the chocolate chip bread pudding and strawberry/rhubarb cobbler. Both were REALLY good. I've had better home-made bread pudding and cobbler before, but these versions were both very tasty. There were so many dessert options I don't even remember them all. The only thing this place was lacking was a soft-serve ice cream machine. Not classy enough, I realize, but still - woulda been nice :-) I can't recommend this brunch enough. Seriously, I'm considering giving up several meals a week so I can go to the brunch every Saturday.

We had a great meal. The food was excellent. My rib meat fell right off the bone. The shrimp scampi was well seasoned and the bread good and warm. The staff was also exceptionally nice and fun to talk with.

Went here last night with a fantastic group of new friends. Two words... MAC AND CHEESE. Another two words.... FILET MIGNON!! Great atmosphere, great service, unbelievably awesome dinner. Another tidbit, Robert Redford runs the joint and owns over 6000 acres here at Sundance. The Sundance Film Festival is held nearby too!

Good food, pathetic service. Incompetent staff that never serviced our table even though we were the first party seated. Used to be a frequent patron but will take my business elsewhere.

We've visited many times for dinner and it's always a simple pleasure. And the atmosphere up here - wow. This weekend we finally had breakfast at Foundry Grill and it was magnificent. The home-made breakfast sausage was one of the best we've had anywhere. My smoked trout scramble was outstanding, as were all the peripherals. The service is always laid back and today it was a bit slow because of a large wedding party - but no worries. It's better to relax up here and soak it all in anyway. Highly recommended.

Dinner was nothing to brag about. just a 2 star;nothing over the top for 30$; the selection was limited to roast beef, prime rib and various selections of desserts; pancakes and French toast. but the biggest disappointment was the inept employees for Sunday brunch and customer service. We first made a reservation but ended up coming up later after the reservation which then put us on the weight list. The hostess told us we would have a 20 minute wait which actually turned into over an hour. Moreover; when we asked to order an alcoholic beverage while we waited we were told they could not serve alcohol in the waiting area. My girlfriend and I suggested we eat on the outside patio or in the waiting area where there were tables set up but were told they were not serving brunch in those area's.Yet after 1.5 hours later it was decided that they should open up the outside patio and the waiting area and set up place settings and now they could miraculously serve alcoholic beverages. We watched so many patrons/business turned away stating that they were full for Sunday Brunch and they were not taking any more customers. The same statement was repeated over and over from 11:45 on. The entire time we waited we were not offered a complimentary beverage or appetizers for our patronage and long wait times. Poor decision making and poor set up to meet the needs of the crowds this Sunday. It was a beautiful day in Provo Canyon and temperatures allowed outside seating. By the time the decision was made to open up other areas of the Foundry Grill (it was now 1 PM) Sundance had lost much business since Brunch was over at 2 PM. A better plan B needs to be in place for high crowd turn outs . I read some of the other reviews and noticed words like "peaceful retreat" and "transcendental experience" hardly words would use to describe today's debacle. noise, loud, unorganized, confusing and poor customer service. Sundance if your going to try to impress out of towners lets exercise some focus on your customers.

The food was all good although they we either sold a really odd cut, or a mislabeled supply of swordfish. I had it with a really wonderful grapefruit burre blanc, but the fish was cut thin and was a little over-cooked. It wouldn't have been noticeable with a little extra sauce (and they will give you a bit more if you ask) because the sauce was so nice. The ambience is the biggest attraction and the food is decent.

Has the rustic, relaxing feel of the rest of the resort. We had just come back from hiking up to the waterfall and felt fine walking into the place. Overall the food was good - steak and avacado pizza is worth trying. The fish tacos were fresh and tasty.

We came to the Sundance Resort for the day during our 2 week stay at the Snowbird Resort. We had a lovely lunch sitting by the waterfall in the outdoor seating area. Beautiful ambiance and attentive service. My husband and I shared the chicken veggie pizza with goat cheese mushrooms and artichoke hearts. Absolutely amazing! We also had chicken veg soup and the house salad. Great lunch then a relaxing ride up the lift on the gorgeous mountain - what could be better!

Before embarking on a hike my dad and I enjoyed lunch at this charming restaurant in Sundance. This is a must if you're in the Sundance area! Start with the raspberry iced tea, which actually has real raspberries in it. No wonder it costs $4.50 a glass! For lunch we split the fish tacos and the margherita pizza...both absolutely delicious! I'd definitely get the fish tacos again, but would probably try something else on the menu instead of the pizza next time. Service was top notch, the atmosphere couldn't be cuter, and the food was outstanding! So head on over, eat up, and then work it off on a hike (or skiing if it's winter).

We were invited recently to the Foundry Grill. We had been there at least once before, but I think that was before I stopped eating meat. I looked at their online menu, and was a little disappointed at the options for a vegetarian/pescetarian. There was one option that I was actually looking forward to, but then the menu changed before we were going. Anyway, I ended up getting the Polenta dish. I found it to be rather bland and dry. I had wished I went with another dish, but I do have to also say, the service was great, and the ambiance was wonderful. And the dessert was very delicious! The menu rotates often, so we may try it again if something looks good on the menu. I do love going up to Sundance, just to get away for a bit. I give the main dish that I had a 2, but since everything else was good I gave the whole experience a 3 star.

I have been here twice for the Sunday brunch, once for the Mother's Day brunch, and once for takeout dinner when staying at Sundance. I only had their pizza for dinner and it's good. It was a thin crust and they have unique flavors. As for the brunch... It is fantastic. It has a nice upscale array of savory items as well as breakfast items. They even have a separate table for desserts which are great also. Well worth the money!

The Foundry Grill is an outstanding, casual restaurant on the Sundance Resort property. I've never had a bad meal here, though I recently tried the quesadilla appetizer for the first time and found it a bit too spicy for my taste. The ribs are outstanding, as are the steak sandwiches. All the Robert Redford sitings I've heard of have taken place next door in the Tree Room but, who knows? You may get lucky.

Stopped for lunch after a morning of hiking at the top of the chairlift. Loved the rustic elegance of the decor; the friendly, helpful service, and best of all the food -- my family loved the soft fresh bread and butter, and of course, the food. Favorite dishes included the fish tacos and the portabella wrap.

I must admit - I love this place. We decided to drive out to Sundance pretty last minute from Park City. We took the ski lift as far as it was go - SO worth it! It was incredible. - Anyway, we had dinner at The Foundry after walking the gorgeous, retreat-vibe grounds and explored a little bit. I would love to rent a cabin out there! Anyway... their food was fantastic. My husband got the burger and I got the pizza - seriously divine. We had some wine - I had a glass of the Predator which I really enjoyed. Our waitress was really friendly and even noticed that it was my birthday when she checked my ID! We sat on the patio - highly recommended when the weather is nice. The ambience was great - lots of people talking and eating with the sound of the creek nearby. It was so lovely! Another thing I love - they had lots of history, photos and articles along the walls to the bathroom. So fun to read!

After spending a whole morning wandered around the resort, this is the perfect place to rest my feet and have some good food. Love the ambiance and interior design. My friend and I were planning to sit outdoor, however they were full at that moment, so we decided to go inside instead of a 30 minutes wait. I am really glad we did that because I really love the decorations inside. Most of the furnitures were made of wood and I am a huge fan of wood furniture. It also has a whole wall decorated with tools such as axe, hammer, saw, etc. I think it's super cool. As for the food, I started with their soup of the day-white pine soup with chicken. It was delicious. It's more like a vegetables soup. I really like how the white pine has given the soup an extra flavor of awesomeness. For entrée, we took our server's recommendation and ordered penne pasta and steak sandwich. The pasta could be a little plain at first, but once you mix in the goat cheese, the flavor would start kicking in. Their goat cheese is quite powerful, so those who are not a big fan of goat cheese should go for something else. Don't blame me if you don't like the pasta. You have been warned! We both think the steak sandwich was more like a Japanese sandwich than an American sandwich. Though the meat was a bit overcooked, we still think it's good, especially with the caramelized onions and baguette. I have to mention their bread, I'll hate myself if I didn't recommend them to you guys. Their bread was one of the best I've ever had. Our server brought us a plate of cheese bread after my soup, we already fell in love with the bread at that minute since it was crispy outside but soft and warm inside, and than the sandwich came in, we couldn't resist but found ourselves keep sticking our fingers to the cheese bread and sandwich and forgot about the rest of the food. We really want to try their desserts, but we were too full after all those bread. So...till next time.

I was staying in Park City and just visited Sundance for the day and am very happy to report it was worth the trip. I started with a Mountain Cooler ($5) - Ginger Beer, Agave Nectar, Lime, Fresh Mint that was spot on delicious. The bread and butter were also extremely high quality and tasty. There are lots of things on the menu that looked good, so I had a hard time deciding, but ultimately went with the Salmon fish sandwich ($16) - Cucumber, Sprouts, Tomato, Tartar Sauce, on Ciabatta that was one of the best I have ever had. In fact, even the french fries were delicious. I was too full for desert, but wish I tried the Dirt Cup ($6) - Chocolate Mousse, Oreo Crumbs, Fudge Sauce. If you see Bobby (aka Robert Redford) tell him that this place rocks!

We had an awesome lunch in a private room at the Foundry Grill this weekend just prior to going on the Zip-line Tour. Absolutely no complaints. The food was excellent, the service was equally impressive, and the atmosphere was 5 Stars easy. We had a 3 course meal and had to hurry to make our time slot for the Zip Tour and they were very accommodating. The Canyon Breeze was a mix of several fruit juices and was very refreshing, I highly recommend anyone to give it a try, it won't disappoint.

OK here is my update although ill leave my first response below it. Sundance comes with its own set of expectations because it is of course the home of the sundance film festival although the festival is not actually a Sundance resort thing. The festival is in a number of amazing locations around here. Sundance resort is surprisingly underdone in its detail so try to get rid of your expectations before you arrive here because I cannot imagine for a minute that tom hanks or brangelina would stay here ever lol. At any given moment the restrooms are our of paper towels and soap etc. and the rooms are no different with drawers that do not open and a fridge that is broken. You will often see groups of employees sitting on the path smoking or hanging out which I can understand in a way because in a nutshell its nothing more than a ski slope here but its a 250-350 per night ski slope and hotel on the outskirts of the salt lake city area so I do expect it to rate at least 4 stars and it simply doesn't. Its probably closer to 2.5 but yelp only rates on a whole star system. The food is bland and service staff although friendly is poorly trained and somewhat detached in general from the front desk to the back so do not expect them to be pro active. They are quite good with being reactive however and very friendly. It is clearly not their fault that the structure and system is so poorly executed here and it left me wishing that I could work here for a month or two so that these folks could earn more money by providing a better level of service and quality while serving menu that could really use some seasonings lol. So while sundance and the restaurants do not actually suck entirely there is just nothing to write home about here except for the truly amazing views and nature walks etc. Ultimately if this is how Robert Redfords house is I will avoid eating dinner and sleeping over there too. I love these mountains and Salt Lake city in general and spent many years living around here before moving so its a bit sad for me to see one of the areas talked about locations being so disappointing I'll write more later since my rating might seem low for Sundance and it'll take me a while to spell out why everything is so shockingly underdone and poorly serviced here. Amazing views and location. Extremely poor execution by management or owners since lack of attention to detail at this level can only be a top Down creation.

If you want to impress out of town guests the foundry grill is perfect. Friendly service, food is always delicious, it's not the overpriced stuffy vibe you might associate Sundance with. Try and sit outside because the scenery well, it just might be God's country after all.

Very warm and inviting atmosphere, personable and professional staff, a very artistic chef, and good food make this a definite repeat destination. The food is a big step down from the Tree Room, the adjacent restaurant at Sundance, and the price is only a slight step down. I would suggest this for afternoon or early evening dining and suggest the Tree Room for late night or romantic dining.

You couldn't have asked for a better location to be nestled in an open a restaurant. We decided to stop by for Sunday brunch, at $35 a person it was worth every penny! I recommend making a reservation, specially on a Sunday, to avoid the wait. The All You Can Eat Brunch a Buffet is split up into sections. You have bottomless freshly squeezed juice, espresso bar and iced tea! You're welcomed by entrees (including Salmon) , followed by slices of Prime Rib and Turkey. There's an omelette area, you just let them know what you want and they make it to order. The dessert spread/table in the middle is super tempting and hard to avoid! There's an area with the BEST Brioche French Toast! I'm not kidding, you will want seconds, avoid the temptation, there's plenty to Eat! There's fresh bacon and sausage next to it! Make your own Smoked Salmon Lox sandwiches with fresh fruit and cheese spread. When I couldn't eat anymore, it was time for dessert and a wet cappuccino made with beautiful velvety foam. Today started a tradition, this is a must!

The last time I ate at the Foundry Grill, in 2008, it was election night. Why do I remember that? Because back in 2008, it was against the law in Utah to serve alcohol on an election night. I guess the state was worried about drunk voting. Hey, maybe we should employ that rule for congress? But I digress. Placed in charge of organizing an offsite meeting close to my company's Utah office, it occurred to me that the Sundance Resort might be a fun place to stay - especially for my Bay Area co-workers who had never had the opportunity to admire Utah's sprawling beauty or visit this extraordinary facility. (See my review of the lodging: bit.ly/18skarX .) We all flew in the night before our meetings and converged at the Foundry Grill for dinner. Nothing like starting a team meeting with great food and wine! The Foundry Grill is located in the Village Building and, consistent with the overall feel of the Sundance Resort, has a warm, natural feel to it. From what I can tell, it is a bit more casual than the Tree Room, the other primary restaurant at the resort. Being a group of 15 we were located towards the back where multiple tables could be easily grouped together. Our waiter, JD, came over to introduce himself and see if we wanted to start with some wine and appetizers. Yes please! The appetizers selection was a bit limited with just two items available-garlic shrimp ($14) and pork wraps ($11). I'm guessing we could have gotten something vegetarian if we had asked, but didn't bother. For the wine I ordered a 2011 Don Miguel Gascon Malbec ($40). It was delicious - smooth and smoky with lots of lush fruit flavors. By the time the evening was over we had gone through 3 bottles, despite the fact that only half the people at the table were drinkers. The pacing of the evening was just perfect. JD and the team helping him did a great job with pacing and attention. Food came out at the right intervals and together. Water glasses were topped off without asking and most importantly, the wine kept flowing. Many people started with a salad. Most had the Iceberg Wedge ($10) which I thoroughly enjoyed. Others had the Romaine Caesar ($8). For entrées, the majority of the people at our table either ordered the Summit Beef Tenderloin ($38); the BBQ Pork Ribs ($25) or the Marinated Portobello Mushroom ($24). Unfortunately the menu online doesn't match the menu we saw, so I can't provide any particular detail of what came with each plate. But, I don't remember a single plate that wasn't picked clean and indeed everyone in the party was very complementary of the food. My tenderloin was a perfect medium and delicious. The mashed potatoes that came alongside the meat were also great. For dessert I ordered the Crème Brulee ($8) while others ordered Bread Pudding ($9) and Pecan Pie ($9). The desserts also disappeared in no time. The total for the bill for 15 including a built in 19% gratuity was $983. Very reasonable considering the quality of the food and wine, the location and service. I have to say that the elegance of the Sundance Resort sets the bar very high and it's impressive that the Foundry Grill lives up to that expectation and then some. This is not a hotel restaurant that you eat at simply because you are staying at the hotel. Rather, it's a true destination restaurant that would be worth driving to just for the experience. Deciding to actually stay at the resort is simply a bonus on top of that. I am definitely looking forward to returning to Sundance and dining at the Foundry Grill again.

Not impressed at all. Our pizzas were burned, and the food was lower quality than I expected. There are much better options for the price elsewhere.

Have been going here for 13 years and the food has been consistently good both lunch and dinner. Service is great. I highly recommend the brunch on Sundays.
