I have always loved this place but after a visit today for the first time in several months, I've gotta say that things are going downhill and fast. Louie, step it up! It wasn't the busy hour when I went in at 3:00 today but that sure didn't make the service come any sooner. There were two women working. One I think was the water/chip refiller but handled her responsibility in a pretty rude manner, pointing toward the pitcher to imply that we she wanted to refill it. Definite service without a smile no matter how nice we were to her. The other one eventually made her presence known as our waitress but only after we had sat long enough seriously start questioning whether or not we had one. All of that would have easily been forgiven if the food had been up to the party that I had come to expect after many years of patronage. Sadly, this wasn't the case. Whatever they seemed to lack in service and food quality, they certainly made up for in flys. I started to feel like I was in a damn unicef commercial or something. What happened to this place? I hate to thing that such a gem has gotten so complacent but I can't see myself returning again until I hear from someone that the old La Casita is back. Hopefully the margaritas are still good. It was too early for me to try Ine today.

Fantastic food! I grew up in Houston and this is truly authentic. It's the best Mexican food I've had in Utah and I'm pretty picky. The service is amazing; they are so nice!

This is the near perfect mix of hole in the wall and classic Americanized Mexican food. It's all comfort. I started coming here in 1978 or 1979 until 1985 wile I lived in Springville. Then I moved further North and only come less often. Each time I come I wonder why I settle for the lesser places in my area. I only came once in the last few years when the place didn't seem as spot on as normal It's rare. I like Jean, but her apparently one bad experience should not color whether you should come or not. I've been a regular to semi regular for over 30 years and the place never changes. I think that's a good thing. On my last trip I took my boy, who is about Jean's age. He has been coming here since he was a toddler and said it was the one place in the valley that's always been the same, or better, for his whole life. I agree. The nacho's are huge and tasty. The crab enchilada tastes of crab. The chile verde is my favorite. I don't know about the standard burritos and what not. I don't order them. They also make the best margarita in the valley. Despite the archaic liquor laws, they turn out something that tastes like it has Tequila in it and has traditional flavors. Bravo.

I guess I am just bitter about not being able to get a decent plate of Mexican food in the entire state of Utah. The salsa is watered down and terrible, bean dip looked so unappetizing that my five year old refused it and I couldn't bring myself to eat it either. Food is so bland and because of the language barrier/ disinterested waitress we didn't even end up with what we ordered in the first place. The only saving grace is that you can order an extremely watered down margarita to wash down the meal.

The best thing I can say about this Mexican restaurant is that it is a little better than Joe Bandidos, its main competition in town, with the main difference being shredded beef here versus ground beef there. They start you off with chips and salsa made with fresh chunks of veggies, but they are swimming in a watery sauce that inevitably drips onto your shirt as you bring the chip from the bowl to your mouth. The rest of the food is pretty standard fare for a Mexican restaurant. There are no flavors that make you say, "wow!" No iconic dishes that I have found. Just some that make you say, "hmm, my dish is pretty good, I guess." During my recent visit, my waitress vanished after the food was ordered. Someone else had to bring my food (we were the only ones in the restaurant at the time) and I had to hunt down someone to bring me my check when the meal was gone. They could not find my waitress anywhere. Unfortunately, this is not the first time this has happened to me here.

I am constantly in awe of why this place is so busy. The owner is rude. The parking is non-existent so it overflows onto the street and causes traffic problems. The people waiting outside are not very nice to passersby and it is dirty and rundown. The food has gotten much worse over the years. I wish I could give zero stars.

Great salsa and chips! Everything is covered in cheese. They have a fun culture. They will call you "Mexican" when you walk inn. I like the cheese enchilada's

The number 32 is the best! 2 chicken enchiladas with verde sauce! The service is good. It has a good local feel but still super crowded! I love eating at this place!

We have only gone there once and really did not enjoy food. It is pretty much a dive, and found the flavor lacking. We prefer Joe Banditos, and I'm shocked that there are people that prefer La Casita, but I guess that's why they are both still open.

The food is good, but! This is the place where all the local folk go to gossip and be loud and 'casually' bump into their best friend/ex husband/high school rival. If you grew up locally, you know what I'm talking about. Just order a Louie Special with pork, and take it home and watch TV on your couch. Its delicious and anxiety free! Feeds 4ish adults and is super tasty. (and includes salsa, yay! order extra.)

Food is decent. But the comfort, cleanliness and environment have greatly declined over the last 10 years. Seats are horrible uncomfortable. Yummy margaritas, very strong. Good chips but salsa is watery. Could use a bit more flavor. They need to step it up comfortable seating and get back to the 5 stars like they use to be.

Took my boyfriend out to have Mexican food, we had craving... The place was a bit dilapidated, the seat cushions were collapsing and felt like we were going to fall through. The staff was not very friendly, the food arrived quickly, it was obviously made the day before, it tasted like it had been sitting under a heat lamp. The salsa tasted like canned tomato sauce with tomatoes and onions, chips were stale. We ordered chiles rellenos, they tasted like they had a Pace picante sauce on top, the rice tasted stale, did not eat mine, the beans tasted refrigerated. The food taste like it was cooked the day prior, and just reheated.

Seeing the reviews about this place has me wondering if I just see what I want to see or if this place really is an over priced dump. I used to go to this restaurant Mi Casita back in the day. It has since closed down. La Casita was the sister. Every time I go, I always get the Louie Special. Ask for extra olives on top if you have kids. That was my favorite part growing up. yes, this place reaks of loud springville trash...but I still like it. and I'll keep going.

I've been eating here since college in the 80's and I always have the chicken tostada. This restaurant has become an extended kitchen for our family. My children love it and I crave it. It is super tasty. The service is always great and although it is small, if you need to use the restroom, it will be clean. They never let me leave without one of their plastic cups full of whatever I'm drinking. My chick is about tired of me bringing them home. I just dig the big plastic cups. Luis always brings a smile to my face "Hey Mexican......don't forget your cup."

Our family has been going to La Casita in Springville for over 29 years we went again this weekend and are never disappointed. Luis runs a great place and he's a blast to be around. He treats everyone like family and we love going there, he calls everyone a Mexican! ha ha We now live in Salt Lake but gladly drive down to La Casita. Our kids were raised going there and we've gone there for special occasions. it was the last place my son wanted to eat before he went to the MTC to be a Missionary. He CRAVED LaCasita when he was serving abroad. My daughter was celebrating her birthday yesterday and asked to go to La Casita They have the best chili relleno I have ever had! We love our La Casita. Thanks Luis for treating us so kindly whenever we come in!

La Casita is the kind of place anyone can walk into and be treated like family! It's a small place, so parking and seating can be a challenge at times (especially weekends) but its worth it. Hot chips, salsa, and drinks almost before you sit down! Traditional blend of Tex-Mex food. I'd recommend the pork burrito, but honestly, it's all good. Louie accommodates any size party and throws in his own style of "entertainment" for free!

Remember *that guy* who, back in high school/college, made your loins burn with a frenzied brewing storm of passion? Then you run into him many years later, after life, kids and the government have repeatedly given him a good thrashing...and he's now weary, skrawny, with sunken eyes and no hair? Poor guy. La Casita is like that. It had been a few years since I'd been. When I walked back in after these many years, no storm. Not even a tiny breeze. The place has not been improved. It's dirty and worn down - no, a lot more than it used to be. The reception from the server/hostess was surprisingly icy on the way to the table. Even the owner, Luis, of the historically famed fiery personality, who was still there, seemed despondent and spiritless. Could this be the same La Casita I had fallen head over heels in love with years ago? Our server, who I immediately recogized as a La Casita Lifer, was her usual small-town friendly self, and promptly served us the much-lauded chips and salsa. They stirred my memory of days gone by, and were just as ridiculously good as I recalled. Still lots of heat in the chunky salsa, and deliciously crunchy house-made chips. All you want. I was hopeful about the rest of the meal. (This course garnered one entire star for still being great.) After a brief interlude, the food arrived. It was the usual for me - same Bat-time, same Bat-menu - a #39: smothered chicken enchilada ranchera and chile relleno. It looked the same. At first bite, I knew something was amiss. The flavors were no longer dynamite. There was more cheese than I remember. It was jack cheese, and I love jack cheese. So it could have been worse. But still way too much. The relleno I had come to love was so small, lacking in flavor, lifeless, and ... greasy. The chunks of tender white meat chicken that had been so abundant in the enchilada of yesteryear were nearly indetectable. Even the rice and beans on the side were puny. I also pointed out to my dining mates that the North dining area where we sat was absolutely filthy, and beyond torn-up. They reminded me that it had always been that way. I guess I didn't see the run-down forest for the trees back when the food was delicious. All this disappointment came at a much higher price than the satisfying La Casita food of pre-2002. My #39, once $6.50...now $10. The terrible news is that I spent several hours after the La Casita reunion on my knees praying to the God of Porcelain. Times are hard all over, it seems. Ouch.

Having recently moved to Utah from Tucson, I am on the search for good Mexican food. Granted, Tucson has some of the best Mexican food this side of the border and I've eaten at some outstanding restaurants on the other side of the border too, so my taste for good Mexican food may be a bit warped, but I gave La Casita a try. Absolutely nothing about this place is authentic. The Spanish rice tastes like Rice-a-roni, the beans are most likely canned Old El Paso, and the food is lackluster and generic. The chips were cold and the salsa too sweet. This is Americanized Mexican at its worst. But hey, maybe fake Mexican is your thing. Not mine.

I've only been here once and I am hooked! It's hole in the wall, but it a diamond in the ruff. They service was great and they were super friendly. I had a smothered enchilada and I ate the entire thing! They use fresh ingredients and the portion ize was perfect. I can't wait to come back!

I was working in Springville for the day and couldn't find anywhere to eat. Decided to give La Casita a try and I'm happy I did! Chips and salsa was delicious. My chili relleno was great. If I'm ever working in Springville again I will be sure to eat at La Casita!

You will never be disappointed. The food is authentic and very yummy. I've traveled a long way many times just go eat here, it's worth it. Always a packed house so be prepared to wait a bit! The drinks are fantastic, the service is exceptional and everyone there is cheerful and ready to greet you. Small groups large groups everyone's invited. They have a small banquet room in the back if you gave a larger group. I always order the same thing chili Verde smothered in cheese it's very addicting. You will feel like family!!

I absolutely love La Casita! Their food is really really good. Everytime I go I get the enchilladas and they are always so fantastic! I once got a margarita and the waitress wasnt shy with the tequilla (; My boyfriend got the smothered burrito which was really yummy as well. I think they are a bit pricy but other then that there food is amazing! (:

Went for dinner on a Thurdsay night. Overall it was a good experience and I am excited to go again and try new things. It was nice that they gave you free chips and salsa at the table right when you get there. The salsa is tasty and decently hot. I got chile verde and the favor was really yummy but it has a lot of onions and peppers in it, which I am not a huge fan of but overall I really liked it! The beans and rice were very yummy also. The portion was HUGE and I only was able to eat able half of it. My husband got a combination plate of a enchilada, tamale, and a stuffed pepper. He said it was decent, not the best but not bad. He said he would probably try something else the next time we went. The best part of this place is the atmosphere. It's like you're not in Utah anymore. The service was great!

We went here for the first time today. It was awesome! We had the chili Verde burritos. A little different than what we get in salt lake and it was great!! The chips were fresh and warm and the salsa was some of the best I have tasted!

Love this place! You really can't go wrong with anything you get there. Burritos are excellent and chimichangas are great! I think it's in an old house, which I really like. It's cozy and just a great atmosphere. When we went to Springville we had more than one person recommend this place and we will definitely be back!

First of all the tables are full of advertisements, sadly they're the most entertaining thing to look at. The salsa is watered down as previously stated multiple times. I ordered a margarita and on the menu it says "with alcohol" or "without alcohol" (which cracks me up) but i didn't specify which one I wanted. I received it, drank it, I think it has alcohol? I got billed the .70 cents more for the alcoholic margarita. I didn't get i.d.'d even though i look like I'm under 21. We saw our server sneeze all over the p.o.s. as she was typing in our order. The food was blah, the rice and beans were decent.

The short version for the "tldnr" people out there: It's good food. I've definitely had worse. But is it worth driving down to Springville? No, probably not. Is it worth going there if I were already in Springville? Probably not. I might go there if I were dying for Mexican food, and I happened to be nearby. But if I'm going to be driving anywhere for Mexican food, I might as well go to the Red Iguana. For those looking for me to enthrall you with my review and make you ponder why I didn't choose to become a professional write, give up now. I'm just going to write a moderately entertaining review. To start with the food, which is the real reason we eat, it was acceptable. My short version covers this point. To elaborate on the food itself, I had the #19 (I believe), which was a combination plate of a shredded beef taco, beef tamale, and beef enchilada. While a large portion size, it was haphazardly thrown on a plate with some beans (good beans, for the record) and rice (edible rice. That's the nicest thing I can say about it. I ate it because it was on my plate, not because I liked it), then smothered with the same red sauce. I'll start with the sauce, because it was the most pervasive item on the plate. It was... red sauce? Mild heat, general flavor, with an aftertaste of... burnt toast. I'm not kidding about that last bit. I honestly tasted burnt toast. I'm not sure who the cook was, and if they were aiming for some sort of an authentic mole or something similar, but they ended up with a red liquid that served mainly as a vehicle for cheese (not that I have a problem with that). Aside from the vague impression I had ruined breakfast, the taco was terrible. It was a greasy, not crunchy taco shell, with some shredded meat and lettuce. Hardly authentic. The tamale was good, but also far from authentic. The sauce it was drowning in prevented it from having any flavor in itself. The enchilada was the highlight, and was pretty good. And in my desperate struggle to find a good fried ice cream anywhere in Utah, I ordered the fried ice cream here. The high note on this was the whipped cream and chocolate sauce. The ice cream was your typical soggy corn flakes + general vanilla ice cream. Upon further inspection, the ice cream wasn't even good. It was honestly bad ice cream. So in conclusion, 1 for 4 is hardly a passing score. The two stars is for the food and food alone. The service would almost get a negative star, but it wasn't quite that bad. Our service equated to "hey, we have a server sometimes." The woman, while never downright rude, was far from even amiable. She offered no suggestions when we appeared to be confused by the menu. She honestly seemed a little frustrated when we were unsure about what to get the first time she came around. And then she just delivered our check by setting it on our table without us asking for it, before we had even ordered

Probably the best Mexican restaurant in Utah County! Not only is the food bomb, the margaritas the best around, but the service and the owner Loise Sr. ("Hey Mexican!!!") the best around. Been going here since I was a kid and probably always will. Thanks Louise!

This has been my favorite Mexican in Utah County for awhile now. It is far from my favorite in the state. But when I am down visiting my family. I will come here when I feel like Mexican. I have always loved the shredded meats they use. The chile verde has tons of pork in it. And I love the Mexican cheese they use.

Falls short of the hype. Very short. Food was mediocre (two better Mexican places within a few minutes' drive). Parking is a joke. The atmosphere is a little obnoxious.

I love this little hole in the wall. Granted I have limited knowledge of the whole menu since I first tried their #22 over 30 years ago! It is practical all I order! It is their enchilada verde with sour cream and rice and beans. Best verde sauce I have ever tasted. I also love their chips and salsa and their nachos supreme are to die for and feed a large crowd. I will drive down from Salt lake on occasion just to eat here!

Love it! The owners family is often there and they are so friendly and welcoming. It's almost impossible to find a parking space or a seat on weekend nights because it's so busy but it's worth the wait. The chili relleno is different than any other I've had because it's pretty sweet. You get a lot for your money.

I have never had better mexican the La Casita... it is so good everytime I go there... and the atmosphere, it so kicked back and fun.. its small and tight space while waiting for a table but not one person will leave.. had the crab enchilada and it is so good will go there for ever so never leave us Louise !!!! not so sure what the others are complaning about but the reason this business does so well is that nothing has changed much... the atmosphare has improved but no hasn't changed a lot and why should it, every weekend its packed, why tear down and spend a ton of money on a new bulding... its paid for!!!! and as for the person that complained about the price of their meal going up a little... I'm sorry you must live under a rock because gas, food, living has all gone up... are you just stupid ? It would be awesome if gas cost the .25 cents it did 50 years ago !!! some people just complain about life... go eat here its still AWESOME !!! ( and who give a s%^& who owens it now )

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
