If you are willing to walk for your dinner, you'll be hard pressed to find a more rewarding -- and unique --dining experience than the one Solitude Mountain Resort offers at the Yurt. Hidden away in the lower elevations at Solitude, it is not surprising if you haven't heard of the yurt dining experience. An observant rider may catch a glimpse of the round, tent-like structure while riding the Sunrise chair, but other than that, this restuarant- though I hesitate to call it that as the dining area is intimately limited to 22- is strategically located to create a solitary mountain experience. After roughly a mile of snowshoeing in through a tight wooded trail, we were greeted with a warm glow at the yurt. Inside, a wood stove humming with pots, pans, skillets took center stage. Chef Abby Carlson smiles as she prepared the ingredients of the first course. We seated ourselves and were quickly served refreshments of water (for me) and uncorked bottles of wine which others sipped while our guide proceeded to tell us the history and purpose of yurts in their native land of Mongolia. Our first course, a pureed cauliflower soup, took the chill off our bones and put us at ease for the rest of the evening. Tart diced apples topped the soup and cut through the creaminess of the cauliflower, giving it a refreshing taste. Seared crabcakes with avocado were next, reminding me of a surf side eatery back home in Florida. The crisp sear and the smooth avocados melded into a heavenly combination. Not a bite was left. Our third course, the salad, was anything but standard: triple cream brie was served atop toasted bread alongside a roasted pear and baby greens salad with a freshly made vinaigrette. The brie delighted with a rich, buttery flavor. Not one to be overcome by salads, I had to hold myself back from stealing bites from my neighbor after my plate was clear. The highlight of the meal served as our fourth course. Our eyes opened wide when we were presented with a plate filled with a rustic meal of sauteed mushrooms and spinach, mashed potatoes and tender beef topped with au jus. Do not be surprised at the simplicity of the ingredients- the skill and selection of quality ingredients provided flavors that were unmatched by similar fare elsewhere. Lastly, an oh-so-slightly sweet custard topped with a spicy-sweet chutney finished the evening. Wine glasses continued to be refreshed throughout the evening, adding to the increasing boisterousness of the group as we bantered with our neighbors, pausing to give a generous applause to the chef as she took her leave into the wintry night. I have never experienced such tempting flavors prepared in such a primitive way. Chef Abby worked alone over a stove powered by wood, yet successfully brought together flavors which complemented the alpine environment with her own creative twist. From the first step towards the yurt to the last snowshoe removed, dining at Solitude's Yurt was a true experience that no foodie or outdoor adventurer should miss.

Yummy!!! Small and unassuming, this Panaderia has great offerings in Mexican baked goods. Grab a large platter, a set of tongs, then happily fill your platter with everything yummy to want. Take it all to the counter, pay, and enjoy your goods at home. Try a piece of their Tres Leches cake...SUPER DELISH!!!

This is my favorite spot for pan dulce in the valley. We always stop here if we have gone across the street to El Rey del Pollo for pupusas. This place has the most delectable sugary empanada with vanilla custard inside. I never find these anywhere else. I find ones that look the same on the outside but there's no filling, boo! I have ordered a big tres leches cake here on two occasions and they do a good job making the cake look breathtakingly gorgeous, but the cake itself could be a little better. The first one we got was really yummy, the second time not as much. The cake is almost grainy, there is no other way to explain it. It's as if the cake were really dried out before it was drowned in the tres leches. No bueno. The baked treats in the store are all really good and I think I have sampled pretty much every type of pan dulce they make and have never been disappointed. I highly recommend the empanadas and the cookies.

On top of amazing service, the food is exceptional. I always order the Wisconsin Mac & Cheese. It is amazing. It may look a little unappealing, with shredded cheese on top, but after mixing it together it is delicious. Ordering steak or meatballs with it is a great choice, as this will make your Macaroni even more meaty. It is fantastic. The beef stroganoff is tantalizing. Ordering pretty much anything here is a good choice.

My family frequents this place and we like it for a number of reasons. I've actually been impressed with their service. They have good staff and apparently good training. Food is decent. I don't always walk away feeling like I had the most healthy meal in the world but it is good.

I signed up for the convenience and I ended up with delicious and nutritious food that is SUPER convenient (it's delivered to my door.) No more Stouffers, Lean Cuisine or fast food on my way home from work. Now I have something much better waiting for me at home that will be ready in 2 minutes. Plus, Giovanni is wonderful to work with and very available.

Stayed here on our way home from our trip to Wyoming. Service was great. Room was very comfortable. The antique decor was nice. This place sits on a high traffic street, but you would never know once you are inside. A great place to stay! Thank You Haxton Manor.

In my quest for the holy grail of pastor tacos, I believe I have found the one! I have been to many of the taquerias in the neighborhood and am pleased I got up the courage to go inside. Once you pass the outdoor shrine to Mary outside this scary market, you will be pleasantly surprised to find a generously stocked market and carneceria. Inside is a small kitchen counter where you can get a variety of Mexican food. Tacos are $1.50 and the burrito was $5.99. You can even buy the pastor meat at the meat counter for $2.99 a pound and cook some up at home for dinner. They have fresh made tortillas, chips, salsas, fresh produce and an amazing selection of dried chiles and spices. All a screaming deal. Avocados and cilantro are both 2 for $1. Bags of fresh made chips were $2.49. Giant containers of fresh made salsa were $2.99. What a gem.
