If I'm looking for something a little more casual, a little cheaper, or just want to enjoy my meal outside, The Hot Spot is an amazing alternative to Mom's Cafe right up the street. This place is a cute little drive thru on the side of the road with a tiny parking lot and cute little benches under some nice trees. My go to meal is their chicken strip basket and after my latest trip there, a substitute of sweet potato fries. The chicken strips are hot and juicy and the sweet potato fries are crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside. My mom enjoys their mini tacos and I look forward to trying other items on their menu, if I can ever get passed my chicken strips. Service here is also pretty quick and everyone is very nice.

The best sherbet ice cream. Had homemade LIME sherbet. Wow. Great old fashioned walk up place. Frequented by towns' people which is always a good sign. Nice little town when traveling between CA and CO.

Every time I go through salina I have to stop here. I've never had anything on the menu that wasn't delicious. Amazing ice cream and malts.

Perfect lunch spot! A walk-up, drive-in, but with nice picnic tables under the trees, makes for a nice break from driving the highway. Food was fresh and well prepared. Yum!

5 stars for the homemade black cherry sherbet! Intense flavor. Just delicious! They have ice cream, too, but this sherbet is their specialty and even though I had a hankering for real ice cream, I'm glad I ordered the sherbet. It is indeed special!

Healthy, this place is not. Old as hell? Yes. I first visited Hot Spot when I was about 10, aka a million years ago. It is STILL the same. Meaning, it continues to serve up old-style, greasy comfort foods. During my nostalgic trip through Salina (where my dad was born and raised), I decided to get my coronary heart disease on and stop at Hot Spot for lunch. We ordered gourmet favorites such as the corn dog and grilled cheese sandwich. The corndog was browned to perfection and the batter was light and tasty. Best corndog ever! AND, AND they automatically give you Utah "fry sauce." "Fry sauce," for the uninitiated, is thousand island dressing. If this isn't your thing (meaning you're not a Utahn), ask for ketchup! The grilled cheese sandwich was also delightful. Very homestyle -- you could really taste the buttered bread. We ended the meal by sharing a medium ice cream cone, which, at any other establishment would be a XXXL cone. Enormous and creamy. Our entire meal was less than $7.00. Overall, Hot Spot is good for the greasy-spoon favorites. It's a walkup, so, if you're hoping for a leisurely meal, you're out of luck. But, if you're looking to eat yourself to an early grave, look no further.

An oasis of fries, yummy burgers, and just about anything else you'd find at a county fair-- all in one cute little shack. Nice grassy area with picnic tables to enjoy your feast!

The Hot Spot is fantastic! It's a little walk up/drive-in in the cute little town of Salina. My family is originally from this part of Utah and we own some property in neighboring Aurora so we always make a point of driving through Salina (where my grandpa was born) to see what's new and what's the same. Oh man... I had a killer soft serve cone here. Their flavor of the day was orange sherbet so I got a swirl with the orange and vanilla. Yum! Another stop into town (on our way home this time) I got a chicken basket. Holy artery clogging goodness Batman! It was delicious. This is where I learned to love Rootbeer Freezes as a kid. People in LA don't know what they're missing. I get strange looks when I've asked if someone can make me one there. Also, the girls that work there are always really nice and pleasant. Stop here if you're driving through the area!
