Just came home from eating here and doubt we will be back. Food was bland and tasteless and items were inconsistent from plate to plate. Missing items from one plate that the other plate had even though both ordered the same item. Desert was ordered and was not as advertised either. Server was nice but we were basically ignored when we entered and after standing there for about 5 min a young man I believe he was the bus boy seated us. Hostess never even acknowledged us.

Last night was my second visit, the first was the day after Cinco de Mayo and was a total disaster but having worked in Mexican restaurants myself before I know how crazy that holiday can be and by the 6th you're running with your second string, and the manager gave me a $10 off coupon and urged us to return, we gave it a second try. Upon walking in the door, 4 different servers or bussers walked passed up without even so much as a "Hello." A minute or so later, another girl came up to the host stand after and proceeded to work at the POS there, again no greeting, but instead shouted to employees working at the station behind her. After about 5 minutes I finally said, sarcastically, "Hey how are ya, someone will be with you in a moment" a server who had just passed with a tray of plates stepped back to say hello and asked how many in our party. We were finally seated by a younger boy who seemed confused to see customers at the door, but given the service I experienced maybe he isn't used to it. He seated us with menus but didn't offer to tell our server our drink orders, or even to let us know that someone would be with us shortly. We asked to be seated on the patio, where there was only one other party. Their server came and went three times without so much as glancing at our table. We waited about 10 minutes before we had our server come to our table, at which time we asked to be reseated inside because there was an awful smell outside (probably just the GSL.) Once inside she quickly took our drink orders and tried to leave the table but I stopped her and asked to have a queso put in as our appetizer. She obliged and then walked away. We waited another 10 minutes for our drinks, which came with chips and salsa, followed by 10 more for our queso, at which time our order was taken. I could be wrong but it didn't seem to be that busy and from I could tell she only had one other table. Our food arrived about 20 minutes later, looking as if if had been sitting in the window for a while. My bowl of chile verde had already developed a film across the top and the refried beans had hardened and cracked on top. The fajita skillet wasn't even warm itself any longer let alone sizzling, and not only was the chicken dry, but so was the shrimp, quite a feat if you ask me. Needless to say we barely touched our food, and of course our server didn't notice, because she didn't bother to ask nor did she check back after we got our food except to bring our check. Serving advice, if plates still have a substantial amount of food left, and to go boxes aren't requested, maybe you should ask how everything was. I was so frustrated that I didn't even remember to use the coupon, and so displeased that I didn't even care to speak with a manager lest I meet the person responsible for training the staff to give the poor service I'd now received twice, so we simply paid our bill and left. Needless to say we won't be returning, especially seeing as this was our second visit after having been displeased, and the service and food quality seemed to go down even from then.

Moved here from California and was on the hunt for good Mexican. Did not find it here!

Isn't 'verde' Spanish for green? I thought so. The chili verde here is far from green. Guess there are few peppers and no cilantro in it.

Great food. Clean & fast, friendly service. Salsa is phenomenal. I remember when Jared first opened & I had him cater my husbands 40 b-day. He was so accommodating back then & has gotten even better!

We frequent Salsa Leedos at least 2x's a month because of their great service, food and good drinks! The owner gives back to our community regularly and understands the value of running a reputable company.

They were out of baby back ribs so my wife had a chicken salad which she enjoyed very much. I had beef fajitas. The plentiful beef had a unique, enjoyable flavor. It was mixed with sparse onions and numerous slices of several varieties of squash. The tortillas were very good and I greatly enjoyed the accompanying "fixings." Overall it was very good, but I enjoy more onions, if they're good.

Great salsa and generous portions make this a good spot to eat in the Southwest valley.

We'll I came here because of all the great reviews but unfortunately it was a great let down first I'll start with the drinks, No James and sprite.... So they offered Jack and Coke or what they called Jack and Coke... I think someone forgot to add the jack or put too much water in the bottle of jack or are trying to pass some Knock off as Jack also the drink it's self was very stale. So that was a total fail! On to the food, the chips were acceptable and that's where the good ends I ordered the Baby Back Green Chile Ribs, now I'm at a Mexican food restaurant so I would expect Mexican food so when it says topped with "spicy BBQ sauce" I expect Mexican BBQ sauce (even salsa de chile verde would pass or chipotle) not your everyday regular BBQ sauce if that where the case I would have gone out to a rib joint, another thing the plate came with rice but really BOX rice tasted like Rice Aroni (not sure if it is or not but it looked and tasted like box rice) My wife ordered the enchilada plate, eh what can I say but ehh nothing to write home about pretty much tasted like something you'd get from Alberto's fast food nothing wrong with it but we were expecting more! Now onto the service that part was great nothing bad I can say about it I even left a tip, the waitress even offered to comp my plate since she saw that I didn't eat anything at all but I denied it because I'm not looking for freebies simply good food.

After moving to the area about a year ago, we were excited to have a Mexican restaurant nearby with a great patio. Don't get me wrong, the patio is FANTASTIC!!! However, the service here leaves a LOT to be desired. We've been a few times, over the last few months and have had issues with our service the last 3 times. The first time, back in December 2013, we ordered our food and waited 1 1/2 hours for it to arrive. It was a weekday, and they were not busy. The server kept checking on us and apologizing, but that didn't make our food arrive any faster. Finally he came by the table and let us know that table ordered the exact same food as us (4 different meals) and a server took that for their own table, leaving us without any. The server never told the manager, so when he was going around doing his table touches, he asked how everything was and we let him know about the long wait. He gave us 2 - $5 off coupons, which could not be used together and went on his way. The 2nd time, we once again waited a long period of time for our food. The server kept coming by to make sure we were okay and we continued to order alcohol in the meantime. In Utah the alcohol content of a mixed beverage is relatively low, so having 3 drinks in 2 hours is really not that much alcohol. However the server kept poking fun at how much my husband drank. If the food would have arrived faster, we wouldn't have been there as long and wouldn't have kept ordering drinks, which only raised our ticket amount increasing his tip. This last time, which was yesterday 4/23/14, we arrived at 7:33pm. We put our name on the list as there were 3 other parties ahead of us and were quoted about a 15 minute wait time. We waited patiently, but then noticed that we were the last party waiting and all other parties, including ones that arrived after us had been sat. I went up to see when we would be sat after waiting for 30 minutes and saw that our name was crossed off the list. When I brought this to the attention of the hostess, she apologized and sat us immediately. She did make the remark of "I saw that you'd been sitting there a long time and wondered why?" She could have easily asked if we were waiting for someone because there were no names on the list any longer. We got sat immediately after that and she did apologize and offered us a free appetizer. We weren't planning on eating an appetizer anyway, so we declined. We got sat and she came back to let us know that the hostess had called our name but another table got up and took our seat instead of us. There were only 4 parties, so I'm not sure how the hostess didn't recognize that it wasn't us when she called our name. Also we were in the lobby the whole time and did not hear our name called. After being sat, we waited a few minutes for our server to come by to take our drink order. He could not take our alcohol orders as he was underage and said he'd grab someone to do that for him. A different server came by with 2 waters and a drink for each of our kids then left. She came back about 5 minutes later to get our food orders and we had to let her know we wanted alcohol as well. The funny thing is I used our 2nd $5 off coupon that we received from our previous visit on this visit. Other than the free appetizer, we were not offered any kind of apology from the manager, as I'm sure the server and hostess didn't mention anything to them. Honestly, the food is good, not great, but the service we receive from here is just awful! I will not be going back after having bad service 3 times in a row. I keep giving them the benefit of the doubt, but that doubt has been answered. Their service is awful! I have worked in restaurants for a majority of my working life and I would be ashamed to give anyone this type of service, not just once but 3 times in a row. I'm sorry Salsa Leedos, but you have officially lost a regular customer.

My husband and I decided to try Salsa Leedos for the first time after a lot of people in the area recommended it on a Facebook group. I love Mexican food and have been wanting to try it for awhile, especially since it's pretty near our home. There was good and bad. The good is the salsa that comes out with the chips - it's probably one of the best, fresh restaurant salsas I've ever had. The chips are also light and crispy without being oily or too salty. My husband ordered the Burleedo, which he said tasted good but was too spicy for his preference, and I ordered a combo meal of one chicken enchilada and one shredded beef tostada. My food tasted good, the meat was flavorful, though the knife cuts of the vegetables was really all over the place, so some bites had enormous chunks of onion or peppers and others were fine. (That's the snobbiest foodie thing I'll ever say on Yelp, I promise.) Unfortunately the service left MUCH to be desired - the restaurant wasn't busy when we arrived, yet our server left us sitting for a pretty fair amount of time, and I'm sorry to say the vast majority of staff appeared to be rather lacking in the proper hygiene I'd like to see at a food establishment. The young man who seated us had very greasy hair and was scratching his face, and I later saw him running dishes to other tables (hopefully he washed his hands in between ...), and other servers I saw had hair in their faces and dirty shirts. Now I get it - I've worked in a restaurant and there's almost no way to avoid getting food on your clothing during the workday, but I also know there's a certain level of cleanliness I expect from a restaurant staff, and I didn't find it here. Despite our food being good and plentiful (and well priced), I probably won't return again.

We have visited this establishment since their first location in Sandy. I could easily say that we have visited SalsaLeedos over 100 times. We were there this last Sunday and my fajitas came out sizzling. Over the years we have had 2 experiences that were not perfect however with the amount of times we have been there it's much better then the average place we visit. I would recommend this place to anyone looking for great Mexican food! My wife tired their catering for a work party once for about 20 people. Everyone gave positive feedback. She did order on cinco de mayo with everything as promised and expected. The GM will always check on us a great us when visiting.

Disgusting! This place used to be really good. We loved the taquitos, and would come every chance we got. But now they've changed the way they make taquitos and I couldn't even eat them. So I tried ordering the deep-fried tacos with ground beef. They were disgusting. They were obviously cooked in grease that was not hot enough, because they weren't crispy and they were soaked in grease. And there is no flavor and these tacos at all. What happened!?

We had been here on many occasions. It's close to home and the Mexican was always acceptable. One afternoon we decided to head over for an early dinner and I ordered my usual & my husband ordered chili verde. The order never got turned in so when that was discovered they rushed the order through. The dinners were dropped off at the table and no one ever returned to check on us. After a few bites my husband showed me the inside of the tortilla and there was no meat and a drizzling of a gravy like substance. I told him to send it back but he said we'd been there long enough and said there's no waitress anyway. He continued to eat and commented he was disappointed because his food and service had always been acceptable. I speculated that part of the problem was probably that they rushed the order through when it was discovered it had never been turned in. Here's the problem. At the end of the meal the manager swung by to ask if everything was OK and my husband said he hadn't seen the waitress and we needed our bill and that he was disappointed on his entree and explained why. The manager immediately became defensive, asked my husband WHY he ate it and accused us of trying to scam a free meal. Where did that come from? He asked how our meal was. If he didn't want to know, don't ask. My husband was highly insulted and told him so and asked again for our bill. The manager kept on and finally I asked him to leave. I have never seen my husband mad and angry before, ever. Instead of locating our waitress who disappeared he located the owner and my husband was confronted by the owner. He wanted to know why we'd eat it. At this point I can't believe what I am hearing. The owner is an ass and totally unprofessional. We were never rude about the food or the service so all this was uncalled for. We were told by the owner that this first guy is his "best" manager. If that's true I feel sorry for him because I'd hate to experience the rudeness of the worst. I told him he was rude, his manager was rude and that all we needed was our bill. He told us we weren't getting a bill and to leave and never come back. Yup, for real. All over their poor service (which we never mentioned) and asking how our meals were and if everything was to our satisfaction. No it wasn't, the chili verde was missing meat. Just a statement that also included a compliment saying we came there often and also did to go orders and we'd never had a bad meal but today was different and the chili verde was not up to par and was missing meat. My husband asked a waiter we came across while leaving to find our waitress. He described her and in about 60 seconds she came, my husband tipped her and we left and per the owners request have never returned, which we would never have done if he had not requested. Be careful about what you say when asked about your meal they may accuse you of trying to scam a meal. We're a retired couple in our 60s and very financially secure. We don't need to "scam" a meal.

I had a very pleasant experience when I went on Saturday. The wait was a bit longer than expected (20 minutes) but it was worth it. Our waiter was very friendly and helpful and cheery. The food was the best Mexican I've had in Utah. The atmosphere was very pleasant as well, felt very comfortable. Will definitely return again soon!

Great food. Even better service. My buddy and I went on Taco Tuesday. We chose the all you can eat tacos. The tacos were just carne asada for the meat , but they were delicious. The homemade Horchata was some of the best I've tasted. Our waitress was more than accommodating and friendly.

Clean place. Consistently good service and pretty decent food. Free chips and salsa and bean dip. The queso chicken fajita is the bomb! Try to come when it's not the supper crowd...it's not as noisy. Drinks are fun and they have many to choose from if you like a little alcohol. Cute patio seating for the warmer days...nice view of the mountains. Not quite my Texas Mexican food but for Utah it'll do!!

Not good. Not even its location (really close to my house) or the fact that they have online ordering makes up for the horrible food. Chips were stale. They got my 3 item combo online order wrong. Got home and had 2 items and they weren't even the right items. I actually wouldn't have minded this too much if the food had been good but... really, not good at all.

My family visits this awesome Mexican restaurant at least 2-3 times a month. We have loved everything we have tried but love the burritos that are huge and highly recommend trying the daily specials! The service is always friendly and they make sure you are taken care of. We always look forward to the next time we get to go back!

Pretty good food but the wait times are ridiculous! The last time that my wife and I tried to eat here the staff were all playing around and not working. It was 5:00 PM on a Friday and they weren't busy yet. The staff just couldn't seem to make the time to wait on us. After about 15 minutes of sitting in the booth and asking twice for a server, we finally walked out. We will never go back!

I don't know why this place has such high reviews. We came on a Wednesday night and the place wasn't busy, but we were told it would be a 25 minute wait. While we waited, several customers came in with the same size party as we had and were seated before us. It wasn't until I complained that we were finally seated. I was told the kitchen was busy and that was the reason for the delay. I think they forgot we were there. The server was nothing special. She brought out some stale chips and tasteless stuff to dip them in. We asked for a plastic cup of water for our baby and we got a clear cup of water with ice in it. All good until we saw something black frozen into an ice cube in the cup our darling baby was drinking from. Gross!! The food was mediocre at best and the restaurant had a generally dirty feel. Overall, a poor experience and we won't be going back. I'm pretty disappointed because we still haven't found a good Mexican food place in this area.

I expected a bit more from this place based on the reviews and overall Yelp rating but I must say, I was pretty disappointed. First off, the chips and salsa were good but nothing out of the ordinary. I guess I expected greatness considering they make the chips fresh in-house every day. But while the salsa was decent enough, the chips didn' t meet my expectations. The chips at La Hacienda are much, much better. Secondly, the fajitas that I ordered came with a whole lot of zuchinni but very little onions and peppers. And it's the onions and peppers that I enjoy so much. Also, the beef was way overcooked and downright tough and the rice and beans were average at best. My daughter's quesadilla had way, way too much cheese in it and it had hardened considerably by the time it made it to our table. She barely touched it. And the fruit that came on the side was actually just a small Dole mixed fruit cup - hardly fresh fruit. Shoot, you can get much, much better fruit at Chic-Fil-A. The bright spot was the service and staff, which were courteous and kind and very pleasant on the whole.

Salsa Leedo's has really good food and has been a long time favorite for my family and friends. We loved going for their "all-you-can-eat taco Tuesday" but unfortunately recent experiences have had negative effects on our opinion of the restaurant. One time a waitress spilled salsa all over my friend's sleeve, and he still had to pay for part of the meal. Another time we were told we couldn't do their all-you-can-eat-tacos because it was too crowded. Somehow they talked us into signing up for their rewards program, and we were happy to receive coupons for free meals. But when we went to the restaurant, they said only one of us could use the coupon, even though we were all going to be on separate checks and the coupon had no fine print prohibiting using them this way. This was once a weekly stop for us, and now we don't know if/when we'll go back. Pretty sad.

Salsa Leedos has amazing chimichangas with a creamy queso. I don't even think it's on the menu - a friend of ours ordered it once and we have ordered it ever since. We also love the Beergaritas. Best in town.

If you want yummy fresh tasting salsa and guacamole this is your place! I hate when Mexican restaurants try to serve salsa out of a squeeze bottle. Great price, great food! The street tacos and fajitas are our favorites.

You may like this place if the only mexican food that you've tasted is from Taco Bell. If you want authentic mexican food then this isn't the place for that. If you want canned beans smothered in sauce and cheese to cover up lack of flavor then eat here.

The beef fajitas are good but the portion is more vegetable than fajita. The rice and beans are decent. It is still kind of expensive for not too great food. I say just stay home and cook your own. The margarita mix was very good. I got 2 containers to go.

I really really love this place. It's not really near my house but I'll make the drive to have it! Their service is ALWAYS top notch. I met the owner once and he's very passionate about good service. I feel like if someone had bad service it has to be because of a staffing issue or something because we've been many times and even when there is a hiccup they are very gracious about it. We always order something different because it's all so good but on my last visit we fell in love with the Molcajete. It's spicy, it's sweet, it has a nice citrusy balance...it's gooey, it's drippy! Oh man it's amazing. I also feel it's important to add that their margaritas are "worth it". I usually don't mess with mixed drinks in Utah because they're usually 99% mix and a splash of alcohol but these are always tasty and balanced. Way to go Salsa Leedos! I posted a pic on Instagram and many of my foodie friends said they're anxious to try it out.

If nothing else, this place knows how to server enormous portions. Take a look at pictures of their Burrleedo... it's a giant burrito fiesta for at least 2 people. We were seated promptly on a weekday night and served chips and salsa and drinks. The atmosphere is a mix of a sports bar and a nice Mexican restaurant with the noise and all the TVs. And then of course you have traditional Mexican-style decor and colors. But who cares about the decor right? There are hundreds of Mexican restaurants around so how does the food stack up against others? I like it. A lot. It's hard to say I would go back when there are so many other restaurants in this area that I haven't tried yet, but I would definitely recommend it if you like Mexican food. We ordered the Burrleedo and like I mentioned above it's huge. We could have just split that and probably even had leftovers. But we didn't know that so we also ordered the Chile Verde Platter which was pretty good. The flavors were not at all what I expected when I looked at the plate and saw a typical Mexican plate of rice, runny beans, shredded lettuce, tortillas, and cheese smothering the entire plate. The flavors were good but it took me a couple bites to get used to. And maybe that's why I liked this place... it wasn't your typical blah flavors so I'll give them credit for standing out from the overcrowded Mexican restaurant market.

This is our go-to for Mexican food in SLC. It's just so simple and delicious, quite a bit above average Mexican food. Nothing too fancy...just really good. The food is fresh and comes out very fast. The service is always excellent as we have dined here at different times during the week. The Banana Margaritas are my brides favorite. I absolutely recommend this place. There is so much more I would love to try off the menu! The chips and salsa are great...as well as the creamy queso and refried beans, theirs are very flavorful. So far, my favorites are the Chile Verde and the Chile Colorado burritos. It's a lot of food for a reasonable price. The core of this businesses success is the wait staff, manager and the owner's engagement with it's customers. They have created a loyal following because of their honest interaction and ensuring the guests have a great experience.

My beef chimichanga was great. The chips were okay and the bean dip was bland. The service was good. A forty minute wait time was lame. They did tell me 35 minutes and I was hoping it was going to go by faster. With the high ratings I was hoping the food was going to be worth the long wait.

A nice selection of fresh, delicious, expertly-prepared Mexican cuisine, served by smiling, happy people - this is what we found Salsa Leedos to be all about! We had a great time and a very satisfying culinary experience here. We will certainly return for the innumerable other menu items that caused a couple of us to eventually just toss a coin. True story. I could have gone 13 different ways here. So, first and foremost, our server for the evening - Kylie - was attentive, efficient, and even entertaining. We felt welcome and very taken care of. First delivered were chips, salsa, and refried beans...yes. Chips were crispy, fresh, warm, perfectly salted - we ran out very quickly. Refried beans were good, creamy and warm. The standard salsa (my friend deemed it "regular" salsa) was nearly perfect. Anyone who knows me, knows I like heat with my spice. This salsa delivered on both fronts, without sacrificing an ounce of flavor. I would have preferred it with a bit more heat, but it was perfect for our table. Kylie brought us two other salsas to try - the green chile tomatillo was my favorite. No one appeared to be fond of the fire-roasted tomato, though. Despite Kylie's sincere apology following my gasp at the news, my cardinal disappointment with their being OUT of the Habanero salsa (a house specialty) cannot be overstated. This is a primary force behind my desire to return to SL, ASAP. (Habanero is the best pepper. Everyone knows this.) We ordered drinks, which had to be ordered from someone of legal age, so Kylie deferred to their Asst Manager (I think) who was also fantastic. He made us two Skinny Emerald Margaritas which were resplendent with cucumber and aloe, and tequila. Something like 150-200 calories per, most of which is the alcohol. They were yummy! They offer their entree house specialties - like the infamous Verde - in many different forms, sizes, and price points. The menu is easy to understand and offers a lot of choices. We were all torn. Our party of four had; - Bean & Cheese burrito (huge, with rice and beans) - Fajita Burrito (tomato-basil tortilla stuffed with veggies and chunks of grilled chicken, with rice and beans) - Chile Colorado Platter (two small pork stuffed enchiladas covered with spicy sauce, with rice and beans) - The Burrleedo (massive carne asada burrito stuffed with beans, rice, cheese, sour cream, etc.) It's evident how gratifying the food is when conversation comes to a screetching halt when it shows up. With the exception of a few hungry snarls, and the clinks of forks and knives, our table was silent for some time. Everyone was very happy with their choices. It was all delicious. I especially enjoyed the Chile Colorado. Great spice levels, complex flavors, and tender pork. Perfectly done. It was big, and I nearly finished it. Here's what I look forward to during future visits: Baby Back Green Chile Ribs, Shrimp Fajitas, and Hatch New Mexico Fried Chile Rellenos. (I'm wondering why I'm not there right now.) I was surprised to see no Mole on the menu. Mole is somewhat of a regional specialty, and perhaps isn't their area. But to me, Salsa Leedos' culinary team seems to be talented enough to pull it off. Just wishing out loud. We doggy-bagged the small remainder portions, which were devoured with pleasure by Hubby the next day. It was that good.

Salsaleedos, Ay Yi Yi! This is the scene in our car everytime we drive by. Someone says "Salsaleedos!" and the rest break out in our best mariachi "Ay yi yi!" Seriously, this is one of our favorite Mexican restaurants for two reasons: the food and the management. The food is HEAVENLY. Do yourself a favor and order the green chile ribs. Your tastebuds will thank you for it! The manager is the coolest guy around. I had an issue a few months back where I was made to wait quite a long time for a to-go order. We're talking about an hour sitting in the lobby. It was a crazy busy day (Superbowl Sunday) and all I had ordered was chips and salsa/queso/guac. The next time we went in the manager came to our table, apologized and made everything right in my eyes. He is a total stud!!! Besides the great food on the menu, try the frozen items near the door! The tamales are divine and MUCH better than the ones I typically buy from the "guy walking around the WalMart parking lot"...admit it, you know you've bought from "that guy". These are so much better!

My wife and I went for our first time at lunch... we both were very disappointed. Our service was terrible, and the food was very bland and mushy.. My wife had the chicken taco salad, and I'm 90% sure the chicken came from a can... it was so squishy and flavorless. The prices were way to high for the lack of quality. Our bottomless drink was empty, before I finished my meal, and our server only offered to refill it, after she brought back my credit card.. Miserable time; never going back.

Best Mexican food on southwest side of slc. I love the chili verde burrito and the chips and salsa can't be beat. I've always had great service here.

This place is flat out nasty. I've been here 2 times and both times I have left wishing I could get my money back and the taste of the food out of my mouth! There are definitely better Mexican food places in Riverton

Great Salsa, chips are hearty but still good. Enchilada and Fried Taco was great. They put fresh tomatoes and peppers in the Tacos which was a delight. The service was fast and friendly and the areas were clean. One of the better places on this side of the valley.

Our family loves "Leedos", we are regulars and enjoy the fun active staff, amazing food, and great energy. We love supporting locally owned businesses as the owner of Salsa Leedos supports the community in so many ways. Did I say...the food is amazing! We especially love Grande Nachos, take home tamales and Baby Back Green Chili Ribs.

Ribs, ribs, ribs ....... At a Mexican place. I know - crazy huh? We've been here a few times and I like the food well enough. Great salsa, good tamales and good service. It's better than most Utah Mexican food places that I have found. Anyway on more than one occasion the ribs were recommended. Again, my initial reaction is, huh? I CANNOT BELIEVE I WAITED THIS LONG TO TRY THE RIBS. They are cooked with, brined, seasoned - whatever with green chiles and then covered with sauce. A little spicy and fall off the bone. Also , it's like a real person cooked then not a corporation where ever rib is a perfect 6 inches and formed. This is all I ever get now. And every time I do an employee or two, other than the waiter, will say " I see you got the ribs! Awesome huh?" And me, usually with my mouthful, elegantly answers, "uh huh."

My wife and I love going here - it's the best Mex in this area of town. I love their Chile Colorado. The service can be a bit bi-polar though. It's flip a coin as to whether we'll get great, attentive service, or ignored and rarely checked on. It's the only ding in their armor. Pro-Tip: Ask for the Jabanero Salsa with your chips. It's super spicy, but oh so good. I didn't expect that much flavor in something so hot.

Whoever said "meh?" was right. We went to this spot based on the overall Yelp average of 3.5 stars, but "Leedo" missed the mark. I had the Leedos platter and my wife had the chimichanga. The food was just okay, but not anything we will crave to come back. The beer margarita looked better than it tasted (2 parts beer on ice, 1 part lemonade, 1 Utah-measured dash of tequila.) The waitress was very nice, but the service was a bit slow - nothing I would complain about if the food would've been awesome. To be fair, we like Mexican food from La Luna and La Frontera, but if you like Tios in Daybreak or Geckos in Sojo, try for yourself.

I've been on a year long quest for the best chile rellenos in the valley. Well I think I've found them at Salsa Leedos, the Hatch New Mexico Fried Chile Rellenos are the best I've tasted since my search began. The Hatch New Mexico Chile (yes there is a difference) is delicious, especially when fried. It has a snap or crunch to it, unlike many I've tasted before, and the cheese and sauce is wonderful. They do other dishes quite well also, as attested to by the rest of my family. Friendly wait staff, good service and nice portions. I'll be back....

Our friend took us here for dinner and wow was it good! I surprised to find good Mexican grub in Utah.. My BF had the ribs that just fell off the bone and was seasoned with some hot peppers that it made you nose run. I had the carnita tacos, they were just okay. They tasted just like pulled pork and not carnitas but not knocking it I just liked the ribs better. Our waitress was nice and suggested we try some hotter salsa with the chips since we tend to like foods that have a kick in the pants. Great eatery and great service. When we come back to visit this will be on our lists for dinner.

Let me start by saying, when we first moved to Albuquerque, all I wanted was Mexican food. Now that we had to leave ABQ and come to UT, all I want is New Mexican food. The cravings for roasted Hatch green chiles are strong within me. So....imagine my delight when we walked into Salsa Leedos last night to discover their entryway sign declares proudly and boldly, I might add, that they served New Mexican Green Chiles! woot!!! I was prepared for this restaurant to become my new fave! We sat down in this darling little restaurant. It was super cute. The staff was friendly and the promptly brought us fresh, warm chips and salsa. The salsa, tho quite tasty had NO heat to speak of. When I asked for a small side of green chiles, the man looked at me as though I had COMPLETELY lost my frickin' mind. He explained to me that the only green chiles they have, are the frozen 5lb bags by the front door. Say what?!?!? Oh the devastation. We carried on with the rest of our quite ordinary run-of-the-mill American Mexican-style food. It was tasty, my kids ate happily without complaint. Our water was refilled accordingly. The staff were friendly. Salsa Leedos was neither offensive or outstanding. Meh.....I will just bide my time until I return to the Land of Enchantment for my taste buds to tingle with joy that can only come from eating NM green chiles.

My husband and I have been here 3 times and I haven't had any complaints the 3 times we went. You have to order the street tacos. They are amazing. The chips and salsa are so fresh! I've been here plenty of times and it's always been average. It seems like the real reason this place thrives is that it's the only show around. We waited a long time for our food tonight and it came out barely warm enough to eat. My crisp taco was soggy from sitting so long but hey all those free chips coming our way while we waited for our food sure were yummy. Or is it a distraction? Food here is average at best! Make the extra few minute drive to get better food anywhere else. You'll have a better experience! The ONLY reason to eat here is that you're craving Mexican and too lazy to drive somewhere else.

Salsa Leedos is one of our mainstay restaurants. We eat dinner there at least once a month, due to the great Mexican food and friendly atmosphere. Every employee there is friendly and works hard to provide great service to the customers. The owner recognizes us and says hello every time we go there. At Salsa Leedos, they bring you delicious complimentary chips, salsa, and bean dip - with refills. That alone is enough to keep us coming back. Salsa Leedos also have a great Taco Tuesday special. We love the fried shell, ground beef tacos, which are all-you-can-eat for around $8 every Tuesday. Seriously amazing. If I'm not there on Tuesdays, I usually order the nachos grande. These are some of the best nachos you can find in Utah, and the portion size is incredible. I am a bit of a nachos connoisseur. So you can trust me on that. Not a big nachos fan? Try the chili colorado or numerous other menu choices. All the food I have tried is fantastic. There is nothing I can say negative about Salsa Leedos. It has great service, fair prices, and outstanding food - all of the features which make for the kind of locally-owned restaurant I love to support. - a very satisfied, loyal customer

My wife and I very much enjoyed our dinner at Salsa Leedos. It was quite packed on a Saturday night, but we were able to be seated quickly at the bar. The salsa, beans and chips were prompt and quite good. I got the habanero salsa as well which I enjoyed. It has good flavor and a bit of bite, but it won't burn your face off. My wife had the carnitas platter which is more pulled-pork-ish than your standard crispy carnitas. They come with a tomatillo salsa and corn tortillas. I had the Leedos platter which has an enchilada, chile colorado burrito, chile verde burrito and a ground beef taco. My taco was upgraded to a shredded beef taco just by asking. The chile verde was very good, and the chile colorado wasn't too far behind. I was less enthusiastic about the enchilada. The sauce was pretty basic and a little lifeless. The beans are excellent, but I was not a fan of the spanish rice. It appeared to be made with instant rice rather than the pilaf style I prefer. Overall it was a good experience and we plan to return.

It was about 7 o clock last night when we went. First time so I had to write a review. Went with my in-laws per their recommendation. Quoted a 10-15 minute wait, which was spot on. I appreciate that. Our waitress was Becca, and she did great. Kept the chips and salsa coming, which is a nice change from the places that charge after a bowl or two. I hadn't eaten all day and managed to knock out 3 bowls of chips easily. She recommended the street tacos, but I decided to try the Chimichangas, so I can compare to other Mexican places in Utah. I have to say I was disappointed. Maybe I should have gone with the recommendation. The beef was tasty, but whats the point of smothering a Chimichanga? It's a fried burrito. It looses its crunch and point altogether if its fried AND THEN SMOTHERED. Instead of serving it with the sour cream and guacamole on the side, I'd say put that stuff on top and don't smother and ruin it. The portion was also a little small for the price when compared to another local Mexican place on 106th South. Both I think are in the same category. My family had decent food, but nothing that is out of the park. I honestly don't see a reason to go here over one of the quick service Mexican joints that are spread throughout the valley.

Yum, yum, yum. My favorite Mexican Grill near me. I only wish they would make their Chili Verde Burrito with more meat. I love the sauce and the bits of meat, but it would DEFINITELY be better with more meat so it's not a sauce burrito. Fried Ice Cream is amazing here and that Chili Verde Sauce. I would recommend getting a different burrito and substituting Chili Verde Sauce, EXTRA sauce. Or they don't do enough.

When we visited Salsa Leedos the last time (we've been several times) we were greeted by friendly staff and seated right away. Wasn't super busy but is was early in the day not yet dinner and too late for lunch. They start you out with chips, salsa, and beans which is great for kids and those who aren't a fan of salsa. This is definitely up there with what I consider the white-people version of what they think Mexican food is. They give you salsa, beans and chips to start off and they all are pretty tasteless and I'm pretty sure they popped open a can and a bag in the back. In fact, when they brought out a second round of chips and beans, the beans tasted completely different than the first time. I got carne asada street tacos and the meat was actually pretty tasty, but honestly nothing special. I definitely won't return.

  • Karli P.

I love Salsa Leedos! Most Mexican places only bring out chips and salsa for an appetizer, and I hate salsa. I always feel left out during the appetizer portion of our meal. I love Salsa Leedos because they bring out chips, salsa, AND re fried beans! I love love love beans! I don't care how long my food takes, as long as there are some chips and beans in front of me! Salsa Leedos also has an amazing bean and cheese burrito. I recommend it.

I've been to Salsa Leedos twice. Each experience was very different. My first visit was about a month ago. I sat down at the bar, and asked the server for the specials. She recommended the Chili Verde. It was a delicious. The chips & salsa were some of the best I've ever had - not too spicy, not too sweet. Had this been my only visit, I would have left a 4-star review. My second visit disappointed. Again, the chips and salsa were good, but the main dish didn't delight. This time I ordered the chicken chimichanga and a cheese enchilada. The chicken in the chimichanga looked like it came out of the can. It had zero flavor, and terrible texture. I had to drown the chimichanga in salsa, just to give it some flavor. I asked my wife what she thought, and she echoed similar sentiments about her chicken enchiladas. The ambiance and the service are good, but the food is below average. It looks like Taco Time is still the best Mexican in Riverton - sigh :(

  • Richard S.

It pains me that this is currently the highest rated restaurant in Riverton. We could do so much better. Granted it is 10 times better than the place that used to be in this same location, but my meal here was just so-so and the service about the same.

So we went back. It was a completely different experience. We took my dad, hoping to give him some good food. I was embarrassed. We went about three on a Saturday, we were not greeted by the enthusiastic manager this time, but our future waiter, who asked how many people we had, then passed us off to a hostess, who again asked how many people we had, I said five plus a high chair. She showed us to our table, but left me standing there holding my baby. After a few minutes I realized she wasn't going to get me a high chair, or show me where they where so I had to wander around the resturant until I found one. Then, the relleno that was so amazing just three weeks ago, was completely different and terrible. Three of us ordered them, all were cold inside, mine was freezing cold. I asked the waiter if these were from frozen, I had to ask him twice before he asked the cooks, they were from frozen. What the? I can get frozen food from SAMs club! I don't go to a restaurant for that! I knew the food was different. He brought be another one, but I had to ask for it, and it was the same soggy disgusting mess. I said I would not be eating it. When we got the check, the waiter gave me a five dollar of coupon that I couldn't use until my next visit ( like there would be one), and that was it. I had to tell him to not charge me for my meal. Any restaurant that served me crappy cold food should have at least taken my meal off, I shouldn't ever have to suggest it. No happy waiter, no manager checking on us, no yummy rellenos. The chips and salsa were still amazing. The queso was really good, but not as stove hot as it should have been. It was bad, and I had to turn into a bad customer because they were not fixing the badness. I haven't been this sad about an eating experience in a long time. Get consistent people, not just during rushes, all day, every day. I want my Saturday afternoon back.

We went to Salsa Leedos in Riverton to celebrate our bosses birthday and the staff was incredibly accommodating. They definitely went above and beyond to make sure we were taken care of and provided wonderful custom service. The restaurant is clean and has a fun atmosphere. The food is great as well! This is very inexpensive Mexican food with generous portions. I highly recommend this location for an affordable, casual dining experience, or for larger parties.

Ok, last night at Salsa Leedos I had the best fajita of my life. The spicy chipotle chicken fajita. Friendly manager: check. Great service: check. Good price: check. Awesome food: check check. There is a lot that's really great about this place. One being that the complimentary chips came to our table hot out of the fryer. Another is that when my hubby's margarita was too sweet for him, they changed it up no fuss no muss. We got our food promptly. The manager was great. I get the feeling the whole team is really invested in making sure we become repeat customers. Couple reasons why I'm leaving off the fifth star: 1. Beans were kind of bland. BUT, if you mix them with the salsa it is a nice dip for those hot out of the fryer chips. 2. Ambiance is not my fav. They kind of one-thirds-of-the-way manage to make it feel like a cantina. The other two thirds is sports bar/strip mall eatery. So it's hard to get that full dining experience. But hey, I've been to the Mayan where u get all the ambiance u could possibly hope for and their food SUCKS! By comparison, let me just say, these guys have what really matters, and I will be coming back to Salsa Leedos very soon. I'm looking forward to trying their chile relleno.

Went for a late lunch. The food is really yummy. Our wait service could have displayed a more pleasant disposition. Glad the food made up for the lack in personality our waitress possessed.

We love the free chips and salsa. The portions are huge and we always need a box. That being said, some of the dishes are good and others are not. Some of the dishes are way too spicy. We do like the small buffet they have on Monday nights.

Isn't 'verde' Spanish for green? I thought so. The chili verde here is far from green. Guess there are few peppers and no cilantro in it.

  • Felicia R.

  • David S.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
