So, they don't have a ton of nearby competition. I assume you're reading this because you're headed to Panguitch sometime soon while you're visiting Bryce Canyon. Yup, I've got you figured out. It's good barbeque. Nothing to write home about, but super, super solid, at least the night we went. Waited a while for a table, then had like total stellar, friendly service, super personable, maybe even a little much if you're not a people person (but, we are, so really just great). Full rack of ribs is, in my opinion, too much to eat, and I don't say that very often. Coleslaw was just mediocre. Bake beans are incredible. Salad was solid as well. Get ready to dish out a bit of cash. But, you're used to that. It's kinda the middle of nowhere... what do you really expect? No 5 stars, because, well, it's not that amazing, but a solid 4 for the area. More like a 3.5 if you're in the city with lots of options. Stay at Grandma's Cottages if you can! It's amazing! Thanks for listening!!

Came though here on a sight seeing tour of southern Utah. I'm Jewish so I always feel a little on edge in Utah, but the people here were really nice, I even saw a guy who served at one of the same posts as I did when I was in the army (although he now weighs 20 stone if he weighs a pound). The food was absolutely acceptable by "middle of no where" expectations. And best of all, my paramour was able to get a beer! As amazing as it seems, getting liquor in some parts of Utah is still kinda hard. I would give a 3.5 if I could. 4 stars for the service, 3 for the food.

My boyfriend and I hit up this place for lunch on our way to the Grand Canyon and liked it so much that we made sure to stop there again on the way back. I'm a fan of barbeque, and the food here is definitely done right. On our first visit, I got the ribs with pinto beans. The ribs had a great smoky flavor, and were fall off the bone tender. Their sauce added just enough sweetness to be really complementary. The pinto beans were nice and flavorful, with a generous amount of black pepper. You can't go wrong with that! My boyfriend got the cowboy cheesesteak and potato salad, both of which he enjoyed quite a bit. I'm super boring and ordered the same meal on our next visit, but my boyfriend got the smoked turkey sandwich, which he really liked (but not as much as the cheesesteak). Quality was just as good as the first visit. Our servers on both occasions were very friendly, and the prices were not too bad. I wish my lunch portions had been a little bigger, but that's mostly because I'm a glutton. I'm going to have to find an excuse to get back here.

thank you fellow yelpers, another great recommendation. the chances we would have ended up here on our own would be slim. there is a wait for a reason. great mesquite flavor in the ribs and brisket. Green beans sound appetizing, but soggy bacon isn't really high on my list. Yams; however, are a completely different story, the honey butter makes it all better. cornbread is average on it's own, but worth consuming with the honey butter. our little man enjoyed the entertainment and the decor. service is sweet, but can be a little on the slow side when busy.

This was a recommendation from our hotel so we ate there for dinner. We shared the full rack of ribs with fries, baked beans and ordered an extra side of grams beans with bacon. Green beans were obviously canned beans with bacon bits thrown in. Was not impressed with this. The plastic plates need to be replaced for sanitary purposes as there were deep gouges in them. Also the knife used to cut the rubs was dull and the handle practically falling off. Again for sanitary purposes food and junk can get stuck in this loose handle. The fries had obviously Been sitting around and were soggy and not very hot. Likewise with the ribs not very warm, but tasty. The service was great and wait staff very friendly and helpful. Food should be served hotter and dishes without gouges would help bring this review up.

You gotta give this place 5 stars considering that it is the only real proper sit down restaurant in town. If you make it to Panguitch for some reason this is definitely the place to go to get some good meat n' potatoes grub. The service is surprising very good. Servers are nice and polite. It gets a little loud with the cowbell ringing every time someone opens the restaurants doors. It decor is nice and I could see another restaurant similar to it overdoing it but not Smokehouse. Apparently, the ribs are what one needs to get. I had their smallest cut of meat - an 8oz. sirloin with my two sides as a baked potato and baked yam. The yam was amazing! They are closed in the winter season.

We ate there twice with mixed results. The first night we had the pork ribs and the beef BBQ. Both were good but the ribs were better. For the sides we had coleslaw (great), yam (wonderful), and baked beans (average). The second night we had chicken fried steak (fine but not wonderful), rib-eye steak (fine but undercooked the first round). This time the yam was completely inedible - stringy and bitter. The lava cake was delicious.

Visited Cowboy's Smoke House after a long day at Bryce Canyon National Park to fill the hunger after a day of hiking and sightseeing. Dinners come with two sides, one of which you can upgrade to a salad for a small fee. My wife had Brisket and enjoyed it. Unfortunately they don't have burgers on the dinner menu, but for our teenage daughter they did have a quesadilla. Certainly not like one you would find in Southern California, but an interesting attempt. The salsa served with their chips was overly sweet. I chose the Ribeye and it was a bit overcooked, but overall filled me up. By the time we left at 7:45 p.m., the place was completely packed and there was live entertainment, and this was on a Monday night. Overall, the place is overpriced, but considering the options in Panguitch, it is one of the better offerings.

Fun little spot for BBQ. Shared a full slab of ribs among two adults and one kid, two salads and some green beans. Was plenty of food for all of us. Ribs pulled off the bone and had a delicious, smoky flavor. Service was friendly and price was right.

Good food, service, and live music. 5 of us ate dinner here. We all agreed that Cowboy's deserved a solid 4 stars. Each meat entree comes with two sides. Options (not an exhaustive list) include baked potato, apple sauce, cole slaw, beans (baked or pinto), yams, green beans, and maybe a couple more options of which I can't remember. Dinner also comes with cornbread. Prices were moderate. A meat dish with two sides costs around $15. Drinks roughly $3. We had two turkey and two chicken dinners (split one chicken between two people). The consensus was: Turkey - very good. It is smoked, tender, and moist. BBQ sauce comes on the side. Chicken - also very good. Smoked. Again, BBQ sauce on the side. Yams - outstanding. Cole slaw - just ok. Baked potato (loaded) - very good. Cornbread with honey butter - wow! Apple sauce - very good. Lemonades (strawberry and raspberry) - also very good. Real fruit in the drinks. While we didn't try any, the menu also included brisket, ribs, sausage and steaks. Again, we didn't have any, but the dessert menu was tempting.

Having spent the past winter in Texas where good BBQ is a way of life these folks have a lot to learn. My wife and I both had the Brisket which was dwarfed on the plate by the cup of Cole Slaw and the cup of Baked Beans (which were the high lite of the meal). The Brisket was tough and dry. No amount of BBQ sauce could help it out. Service was standard and food is over priced. Surprisingly there is not a lot of good food in Panguitch. This being a tourist town with it's close proximity to Bryce Canyon, NP, Red Canyon in the Dixie National Forest, Cedar Breaks National Monument, Zion National Park and parts of the Escalante Grand Staircase Natioanal Monument amongst other things you would think someone would come in here and open up a viable restaurant. Maybe someone will. Considering the crowds I had seen gathered in front of this place every night I had expected much better.

After a day of hiking in Bryce canyon, came here on a Saturday night and the place was packed. Just one nice place. Walls with deer heads, moose head, and racks on the wall. Ordered half rack of ribs, side of baked beans strong flavor of bacon, potato salad with egg and olive. Ribs were smokey and just the right hint of sweetness and tang. Their own sweet bbq sauce on the table. Steak was good with pinto beans and potato salad. Everything had that home made goodness. *****food *****service ****decor *****added stars, Patsy Cline being sung in the background. The food was great, would have given 5 stars. One only complaint is that much of their menu was sold out, minus one star. Brisket sold out, sausage platter sold out, and most importantly cole slaw sold out.

This place served up killer ribs and a ridiculously fresh shrimp salad for the wife. Baked beans were a good side, as was baked potato. NY Cheesecake was sufficient, as were the stewed green beans. In all, if you are expecting Spago in rural Utah, you are a retard. Considering how "out there" this town is, the food was shockingly good. Good service, good prices round it out. BBQ sauce gave it the 5th star.

Classic... that's all I can say. This remote town has a jewel of authenticity. The Utah styled BBQ was just what I needed after a hike down into Bryce Canyon. This is the quintessential rural Utah salon. Service: 9 Quality: 8 Atmosphere: 9 Value: 8

Panguitch has few restaurants to choose from. We read the reviews on Yelp and ended up here. The interior was what you'd expect for small town western BBQ restaurant...country touches, clean and nothing fancy. We had the brisket, chicken fried steak and grilled chicken. We had the yams and baked beans as previously suggested and they were good. The chicken fried steak was prepared well and reminded me of my mother-in-law's! It came with homemade mashed potatoes and cream gravy. The brisket was tender. BBQ sauce was served on the side. Brownie sundae for dessert was uninspired. A lone country singer with a guitar started singing towards the end of our meal. We were happy with our home-y meal but not enough to return the next night.

This place is phenomenal! Read in our "Utah Underground" book that this place has the best BBQ in the state, and we were not disappointed. We stopped for a late lunch on the way back from a hike in Bryce Canyon in the dead of winter, and it was the perfect meal after tiring ourselves out in the cold. Our waitress was really friendly, plus the place has some great decor -- animal heads are everywhere, and the sets of humor books on every table provide a good conversation piece. Now the important bit: the food. We ordered the pulled pork sandwich and brisket/ribs combo as main dishes, and we had the baked beans and yams as sides. We also got the homemade blackberry cobbler to go. Standouts were the ribs, the pulled pork sandwich, and the baked beans (mm, baked beans!). This place has got character and is definitely worth a stop on the way through Panguitch.

My mom and I were told about this place by the owner of one of the hotels. Granted this is as small town as it gets, it was the best steak we had ever had! It was very crowded, not very well organized but totally worth the wait. Checkerboard table cloths, mounted animal heads and some local teens playing music. If I am ever in that neck of the woods again, I will be sure to go back.

We ate here twice, because there's really nothing else in town. I had brisket the first night, which was dry and really needed the barbeque sauce they have on the tables in squeeze bottles. Service was good on the first visit. On the second visit, I had a salad, and a surly dinner companion (which probably colors this review). Service was extraordinarily slow, they were very busy, with a waiting line. The salad was huge, but not particularly noteworthy.

Many crowds, the waiting time was reasonable and the food quality was okay. The ribs were average. Service was sufficient and the waitresses were courteous.

Bake beans were great but the the thing they say they do best ribs and brisket were dry and tough. Service was OK! The food was far from great and the only choice in the town makes it a shame that the restaurant simply sucks!

Nice waitress, but the ribs were so dry that my steak knife had a hard time finding the path between the bones - bad sign.

We had a smoke trout for appetizer. 3 stars A shrimp gumbo soup. 4 stars (meaty) A rack of BBQ ribs. 2 stars (very dry) The place was friendly, and the server was very tentative, came to ask us if everything is ok about 5-6 times. We got our food in a timely manner. Not much to complaint, So I would return again and maybe try some other dishes.

Four of us saw this restaurant when we drove through this little town of Panguitch from Bryce Canyon National Park. It was busy and there were at least 3 tables not cleared. We sat down and grabbed the menus ourselves. The prices seems very reasonable, but it took a long time for the waitress to take our orders. My husband and I ordered a barbecue platter each, brisket for him and chicken for me. I substituted my side order with salad and he ordered beans. Our friends, the wife ordered a chicken sandwich with salad and her husband ordered soup and salad. It also took a long time for our food to arrive. It seemed that they were shorthanded. People kept streaming in or waiting to pay at the counter. When our food arrived, the portion was surprisingly small. My chicken wasn't even one quarter and my husband's brisket was just one and 1/4 strips. The kitchen/waitress forgot our dinner rolls and the tomato and lettuce for my friend's sandwich. It took a long time to flag our waitress down for the missing items. My husband didn't feel the portion was enough, but at least there was no waste. Maybe the menu should state the portion. In a lot of barbecue places, customer get at least two sides instead of one and the meat portion is more than enough. If you add a couple of more dollars in San Francisco, you would get a quarter of chicken and two sides! Waitresses were nice, but they were slow. Tables were left uncleared for a long time even though there was someone clearing tables. The food tasted just ok, nothing extraordinary. They also ran out of items because of a rodeo, but they didn't add more waitpersons. It felt that there was only one person working in the kitchen since it took more than 30 minutes for us to have our food. When we left, the two tables that weren't cleared when we walked in were still not cleared!

Ate there tonite with the missus. Ice cold beer in frosted mugs. Wonderful smoked turkey breast, pork rack of ribs were the big surprise. Perfectly smoked, and not slathered with BBQ sauce. Dry rubbed. Live music. Dutch oven blackberry cobbler. What a find in the middle of nowhere. Highly recommended. Beautiful, friendly waitresses.

4 stars only because it's the only restaurant in town. Ribs are really good and so were the yams (unfortunatly yams were the only vegetables available and soon they ran out of yams too!) Everything else is not so hot, icecream and desserts are typicaly bad.

You can find better places. My main problem with it was not the quality, but the quantity. I try not to be a glutton, or cheap, but I felt I got way too little food for $20 in my three-meat BBQ combo of ribs, brisket and sausage. It was like 3 pieces of brisket, half a sausage and 3 baby-back style ribs. That's it. I live in the Bay Area, in California, one of the most expensive parts of the country and for that price I would've gotten easily twice that amount of food at barbecue places I know. My favorite part of the meal were the side dishes, specifically the baked beans (which had bits of bacon inside) and the yams, which came coated with maple butter that was excellent. The fact that the side dishes were the best part lets you know that you've made a mistake in choosing a restaurant. Anyway, the yams dominated the plate. They were huge. Easily 40% of the plate. Should a side dish be 40% of the plate on a three-meat combo? I don't think so. It was just a cheap way to fill the plate instead of putting more meat on it. As for the meat itself, the sausage was the best of the three meats, by far. It was kielbasa-like. It could've been a bit spicier, but alas. The ribs were ok, but baby-back style is my least-favorite type of rib. I wish they had regular pork or beef ribs, but they don't. There just wasn't enough meat on these. Finally, I felt the brisket was undercooked. They were almost raw. The BBQ sauce that they make themselves is nothing special. The service was excellent, no complaints there, but something was way off about the ambiance of the place. I liked the animal heads on the walls (they've got a huge moose head, a bear and a stuffed rattlesnake), but on the Monday night we went there they had some teenage girl singing. She wasn't bad, but she was like so shy and quiet, like she had no confidence in her own voice. It created this awkward, uncomfortable atmosphere in the place where you were afraid to speak with your normal voice or even speak at all because you didn't want to disturb her. It was like a church in there it was so quiet. Definitely off-putting. I wish there were more patrons inside, but I guess the locals are wise enough to stay away.

These people apparently told our group leader that they could manage vegetarian meals for two in our party. Vegetarian meals consisted of a side salad, pasta salad and a baked potato. This is pathetic and stupid. Crack open a cookbook folks or turn down the reservation but don't try to sell something you don't have.

I don't think so! We stopped here for lunch (Yelp reviews), and I ordered a turkey sandwich. That's exactly what I got, turkey between 2 pieces of whole wheat sandwich bread, nothing else at all. There was barbecue sauce on the table, and I had a side of potato salad in a little dish. Our server was very nice, and the turkey meat was tasty (like Boar's Head), but I could have gotten the same thing, with more meat, from a market for less than $8. I have to vote NO on this one!

Stumbled across Panguitch during my road trip and was delighted by the Cowboy's Smoke House. Tasty food, lots of local color, complete with a town-wide black out. Finished the meal by candle light. Maybe it's not the best BBQ ever, but I had low expectations for Panguitch and was very satisfied with my meal.

The real deal! Housed in one of the oldest buildings of the town center, they smoke that badness out back. Our waitress was delightfully forgetful and talkative, but -- like everybody in that establishment -- soooo friendly. We got the last rack of ribs at around 8:30PM. Get the message: eat early. The smoked trout appetizer.... hooooo wheeee, do NOT miss it. House made rolls and the signature BBQ sauce on all their slow grilled meats really make this place the main event in town.

Prepare for a bit of a wait and tourist prices (all the national park resort towns restaurants seem to be on par wtih each other when it comes to price), but the pork ribs are excellent. They are moist, delicious, and don't need any sauce (although I suppose you can put some on there). The baked sweet potato was a tasty side. The brisket is just okay, though.

We stopped on our way through on a motorcycle trip. Nice ambiance, with a "real cowboy" singing country songs (excellent). Food: Order #1: Brisket - dry, not to flavorful. Needed extra bbq sauce to liven it up. Side dishes (cole slaw & baked beans) were by far the best part of the meal. Order #2: turkey salad - excellent salad but only one small piece of turkey. Order #3: chicken bbq - chicken was perfect, flavorful, and well portioned...best meal ordered. Service: excellent service....very responsive!

Great TX-style BBQ. The brisket and ribs were well smoked by someone who obviously knows exactly what they are doing. The BBQ sauce is also a nice TX-style but not too spicy for Joe Tourist. We had plenty to eat and the service was attentive. Yams were yummy and the BBQ-style beans were sweet and appetizing. The building is at least 100 years old and has been re-done in a knotty pine interior. This place is a real find, you will eat well!

My wife and ate at Cowboy's Smoke House on a tour of Zion and Bryce in June, 2009. Based upon several restaurant reviews for Panguitch, Cowboy's Smoke House was the best bet in town. They certainly do a brisk business as we arrived around 6:30 pm and were advised of a 20 minute wait. This allowed us to walk around town and when we returned 20 minutes later we were promptly seated. My wife had a half rack of ribs which were quite good. Too bad I didn't order the same. Instead, I ordered the sausage plate. I'm guessing that the sausage must have been on the grill from the time the restaurant opened for dinner as it was charred black and could hardly be cut with a steak knife. The only way to eat it was to cut it end to end and peel off the charred outer layer. This may well be the best restaurant in Panguitch, but it would be out of business most anywhere else in the U.S.

3.5 stars. That's the real rating here, but due to yelp's limit I must choose between 3 and 4. This is probably the only, if not one of the 2 places in its area with decent food with character. Located in a small town with no other BBQ places for competition, this restaurant is free to do what it likes. It's small, with seating for less than 70 people. The in door decorations include mounted game and family photographs. Most everything is wooden on the inside and there is a small stage for, what I assume, live music. The waiting staff was polite and attentive, but onto the food. My party ordered the smoked trout appetizer, a full rack of ribs to be shared, a combo platter, and a turkey platter. First, the full rack of ribs ($26) is gigantic. Share this plate. Do not get this by yourself unless you want to coma out or want another meal later on. The ribs were decent. Not fall off the bone, but moist and tender enough and had a good smokey flavor. The BBQ sauce went well with the ribs as well. The turkey also had a good smokey flavor but was slightly dry. The chicken was moist and the brisket was only decent. Smoked trout: This was great and I'd definitely recommend getting it. But the best thing by far was the sweet (I believe cinnamon and brown sugar) butter of theirs paired with their cornbread. The cornbread was perfectly made and just barely started crumbling when sliced. A generous smear of butter on each piece of cornbread and I was content, I didn't even need the BBQ. Honestly, they had decent BBQ. I've had very, very good BBQ before (check out Franklin's BBQ, Salt Lick, Rudy's, or J. Mueller's in Austin, TX) so I can only give them 3 stars for their BBQ. But that cornbread and butter.. If they were only about that I'd give them 4 maybe 5 stars.

The main tourist watering hole in town, we had a 45 minute wait for dinner. Nice old building, high volume music and high volume service. We had steaks, as most of the barbecue items were sold out. Steaks were well seasoned, a bit over cooked, and chewy. The music was very good. Breakfast: really good service, food just OK. Guy in back insisted that we all had to watch Fox News at high volume. Maybe they ought to have a TV in back for him to watch and leave the rest of us out of it. And maybe concentrate on cooking instead of watching TV. Put it this way: the bar is set pretty low in Panguitch for customer service.

Again, we didn't have any, but the dessert menu was tempting.

Bake beans were great but the the thing they say they do best ribs and brisket were dry and tough. Service was OK! The food was far from great and the only choice in the town makes it a shame that the restaurant simply sucks!

Hiked all day in Bryce Canyon. The food offerings where we were staying (Tropic) and the restaurants near the NP were too few and disappointing. So we drove a little further to Panguitch. Got our meat platters with mashed potatoes (white gravy) and cole slaw and devoured it quickly in silence. Tasty. Their BBQ sauce is good. If the nice lady offers you dessert - you'd better say yes. The blackberry cobbler was probably the best thing we ate on our 2 week trip. We should not have split it. I could have probably handled one on my own it was so good. Berries, vanilla, cinnamon, maybe some almond extract? And a scoop of ice cream on top. YUM!

This is a pretty good feed! I'm a certified BBQ judge and what I had was pretty tasty and well prepared the sides were all good and prices were reasonable. The cobbler is also recommended. Service was pretty slow if you are in a hurry or you can relax, be patient, enjoy the atmosphere, and have some good food

Not too many options for eating in Panguitch, but this one is a good one! Can definitely recommend the BBQ and chicken fried steak. The mashed potatoes are delicious, and you can tell that they made them with actual potatoes, not just flakes from a box. Sweet potato fries had sugar on them, which made them a little too sweet for my tastes. If you're doing a BBQ item that has the option of a sandwich or a platter, I'd go with the sandwich -- it's enough food and seems like a better value. Food can take awhile when things are busy. It was cash only when we went.

Surprisingly good food. Everything we ordered was well prepared and very tasty. For a small town diner this was great. Be sure and get the baked yam. Yam was very large, moist and very tender and topped with homemade honey butter! You will not be disappointed! Rick Keen Trabuco Canyon, Ca 92679

This is the land of smoked meats. Think beef, turkey, pork, chicken, and yes even smoked trout, then throw in some gringo food like salads and chili for the likes of me. There is not too much on this menu, but if you are a carnivore, you'll be fine. The basic house salad comes with iceberg lettuce, cherry tomatoes, cuke, red onion, and the best homemade croutons and terrific blue cheese dressing. Filling all by itself. The rib eye steak with baked potato was a great choice for Mr. B, as was the bowl of homemade chili for me, full of large tasty chunks of good ground beef and beans and cheddar cheese. I'd say skip the peach cobbler. Dense crust and tasted like canned peaches. This is a dinner only cafe with wild West decor. If you are offended by taxidermy this is probably not your place, but the food is decent albeit pricey, and the vibe friendly.

My boyfriend and I stopped in town for a night before heading to Bryce Canyon. At first site, I was a little apprehensive about walking in based upon seeing the exterior of the building. However, this is some of the best BBQ I've had! I would recommend any of their meat platters. They are all delicious and cooked in-house. The actual BBQ sauce is very good as well! Tip #1: ask for rolls to accompany your choice of meat, such as the yummy pulled pork. They are fresh and work well for making your own sandwiches. Tip #2: if you're going into a day of in the park, and want an easy and cheap meal, ask for 1/2 or a pound of your chosen meat. We scored a whole pound of pulled pork for $7 and six buns for and extra $2...best decision! Enough meat to last two adults two or three meals. One downside is that they don't offer Mac and cheese on the menu...which I consider a southern staple. This was disappointing for me. They do however, offer several other tasty southern classics. I gave it 4/5 stars based upon the lack of Mac and cheese and the general appearance and energy of the place. But I'd give it 5/5 based upon food quality alone.

Exhausted from a long drive on our way from Las Vegas to Colorado, my girlfriend and I were just planning on stopping for fast food in the middle of nowhere. We decided to give this unassuming little BBQ place a try. It was 3pm, so there was nobody in the restaurant, and I mean /nobody/. There wasn't even music playing. With the moose heads on the wall, and the strange joke books on the table, it made for a really interesting vibe. The server was really quite a friendly guy, making good conversation with us but also letting us just take a break and relax. But it was the food, oh my gosh, the food that amazed. It was among the best barbeque AND the best steak I've ever had. My girlfriend ordered the BBQ beef, which was tender and had a great BBQ flavor. The sweet potato fries on the side were also noteworthy: simple, just seasoned with cinnamon and sugar. I had the ribeye steak, which was juicy, perfectly seasoned, and tender. The pricing was very reasonable. If you're nearby visiting any of the national parks around, it is definitely worth a detour to stop by this place. All in all a hidden gem.

We enjoyed a deeelish BBQ combination platter (ribs, pulled pork, and brisket), sweet yams, and pinto beans (paired with local Utah brews- Evolution amber ale & American wheat Hefeweizen)- can't beat it! Desserts looked amazing but we were too full to try any! The staff was friendly and accomodating. Definitely stop here if you're staying in/driving through Panguich! All American gem.

Me and my friend were starving after a long hike at Zion National Park. Therefore we were desperate to sit down and have a big meal. We started to look for restaurants on our phone when driving pass Panguitch (because this is where the network got better) and we've found this smoke house. Meat is exactly what we needed at that time. Therefore, we've decided to give it a try. This is a very interesting restaurant. When I first came in, I was attracted by its decor. They were so western style. They also has a little stage at the back of the restaurant, I think it is for live music performance because I've seen it has a guitar there. Unfortunately they didn't perform the day I went. The service was kind of slow. Though the decor was stunning, I didn't need a couple minute by the door to enjoy it. The lady was busy. It took her a few minutes till she was able to take us to our table. Moreover, there were only two waitress in the entire restaurant. Therefore, as you can imagine, not much attention was given per table. We've ordered their special-dinner for two. It includes combination platter (any 3 meats of your choice), two side dishes, two salads, and a dessert. We've chosen beef, pulled pork, and pork ribs for our platter, and Oreo brownie sundae for dessert. We were disappointed at the platter, the meats were all two dry and hard. Though they have put a bottle of barbecue sauce on each table, we didn't really like the taste of it. However, the meats were so dry that we ended up dipping them into the barbecue sauce in order to add some moisture to the meats. Although the entree was a disappointment, the dessert surprised us. The name Oreo brownie sundae already sounds like haven. They've mixed Oreo and brownie together, which made it so Oreo and chewy. Did I mention it has ice cream, chocolate syrup, and whipped cream on top?

This place is a rip off and the service was awful, asked for refills on our drinks and didn't get them until we were ready to leave. Also they scammed us, they claimed my 2 yr old as an adult so they could charge us the party fee, a gratuity of $20 for no service. Just putting my meal on the table and only 1 drink and not coming back is not acceptable service there for i should choose what the tip should be.

I guess when you are born and raised in a city like Las Vegas, embracing diversity, or AT LEAST accepting it, comes pretty natural. Well we were camping in a small area of Utah with 2 restaurants, and a local mentioned we go 30 minutes to the nearest town for some great BBQ. This is where we end up. Clearly, we are tourist and its obvious to everyone. That doesn't bother my group of 6. We enter the restaurant and instead of a hello, how are you? or any type of greeting. We got, "where yall from?' I told her we were in town from Vegas. I mentioned I was a native and she responded, "well how funny, I am a native of here" and continued to lead us to our seats. Meanwhile my entire party noticed the mild hostility that was in the air. We tried to ignore it as we watched out rude waitress smile, talk and assist every other patron. (They were also staring) Now I was here with my boyfriend, our 3 kids, and his mother. Its not like we were THAT exciting to look at. The food came, well most of it. After feeding half of our group all of a sudden they were out of chicken. Our waitress did not check up on us, or offer dessert (the cobbler looked BOMB) she just pretty much just left our check on the table. The food was ok. Plain ol bbq, and over priced at that. $30 for a rack of ribs seemed a little high. I have to mention there were kids cooking. 1 boy and 1 girl and as soon as they noticed the place was busy they ran to the back to help out the family. I am all about family business, but not so sure about forced child labor. I am not going to bring religion into this, however I will mention the HUGE family portrait on the wall as well as a beer called polygamy porter. (which is a popular beer in Utah so by no means am I implying anything) BUT DONT JUDGE!! To each their own, if my family is a little different that yours, embrace it instead of make assumptions.

Had the combo platter - delish! I ordered the sweet potato fries as one of my sides & was happy with the amount when they arrived. Apparently the cook thought I didn't have enough though, so they sent out more... I shared them with my mother who was with me & she agreed that they were delicious! Get them if you like SPFries.

The food was very good. The menu just says "beef" which in this case means tri-tip, rather than brisket. It was good, with a nice smoke ring and decent flavor. As a Southerner I missed my traditional sides of mac n cheese, Brunswick Stew, and collards. My wife got the grilled chicken which she raved about. This place has about a dozen tables and I imagine it's full most of the time. I felt bad for our poor waitress who had to double as the hostess, keeping track of the people pouring in to get on the waiting list. Also, they were unable to take credit cards while we were there, but there is an ATM inside if you need cash.

  • Alex W.

My dad and I ate here when visiting Bryce. I cannot fathom why anyone would give this place over 2 stars. We each got a BBQ platter, which comes with 2 sides. I got the chicken and my dad got the beef. Both were awful and the sides no better. The BBQ sauce couldn't save it, as it was some of the worst we've ever had. The only option was to drown the food in Tabasco. Also, they don't take credit cards and the wait is forever since there's nowhere else to eat in this town. Go to Arby's, you'll be happier. Sadly, not joking.

We had dinner at this place a few years ago and had a nice meal. Decided during our vacation to swing by and try it again. My wife called several times - no answer. Finally days later someone picked up the phone and the Mrs asked if they were open on Mondays. The young lady replied "yes but we don't open until 4PM." We arrived a little after 5PM on July 21st and the place was closed. Looked through the window and tables and chairs were in disarray. Around back the smokers were not smoking. Personaly we think they are out of business. Several businesses (including our motel) told us that the BBQ place opens when they feel like - - no specific hours. Huh?It's sad for there was a baseball tournament that weekend and there were lots of folks wandering around looking for a place to eat. Panguich does not have a large restaurant selection. Anyway we found a nice pizza place there, not BBQ but it was very good. BTW - - the sign above the door says they serve breakfast too. Ha ha

Took an hour to get ribs that were barely luke warm, turkey in the salad tasted like it was soaked in tuna. The waitress said "ok" and the manager said "let me go check that out" and never came back. Luckily the hostess apologized. Will never go back. P.s both my son and i got sick after eating the luke warm ribs. Ugh :(

Hands down best pulled pork sandwich I have EVER had in my life. The buns were superb and I don't know what they put in that barbecue sauce but it is hella good. Who knew I would have the best pulled pork sandwich in the middle of Utah!

It's not likely you'll of come across this restaurant unless you're visiting Bryce Canyon National Park and couldn't get a room at Ruby's Inn. Panguitch is a tired town with few restaurant options. But this is where the locals eat and we had two satisfying dinners there. The decor is attractive - check out the 6 foot rattlesnake skin hanging on the wall. Cowboy decor. Family owned business. Take your time - it takes time to prepare food after the order is placed - that's the price you pay for not having food sitting in the kitchen under heaters staying warm and getting tough. Absolutely worth it. Our server was great; we had good conversation both nights and also enjoyed talking with one of the owners. After a long day of hiking at Bryce, it was nice to relax without looking at the clock. Solid food, good people. All together a nice experience. 5 stars for what it is: hard working people running a good restaurant with tasty food.

Drove through Panguitch late on a Thursday night after a visit to Bryce Canyon. As there was not much open or available in town, we ended up trying Cowboy's for dinner. The wait for menu's and food was a bit long, but well worth it. Excellent coleslaw, pulled pork, and Philly sandwiches. Would definitely recommend to anyone in the area.

4th of July in Panguitch, UT. We had just taken the tour of the town with the "Panguitch Professor" and decided on Cowboy's for dinner. Unlike some other reviewers have noted, the service was a plenty that night with a hostess and three servers for the small number of tables. We had about a five minute wait or so and opted to wait outside to enjoy an incredible sunset over the high plateau. Our server was just a gem. She had a unique name that I wish I could remember but hopefully if the management of Cowboy's reads this they will pass on our kudos. She could easily teach a course on how to treat a customer without being overbearing. She was knowledgeable about the menu and asked us about our schedule knowing that we were about an hour away from the local fireworks show that night. Having had a very large lunch we weren't in the mood for anything particularly heavy and ultimately decided to split a dinner that featured two mesquite-grilled chicken breasts. We chose the mashed potatoes and cole slaw for our sides and added in an extra potato which was just right. The chicken was nicely done, moist and evenly cooked and the sides were very nicely seasoned. We were in and out in plenty of time for the fireworks thanks to prompt service by our server and the staff of Cowboy's. I know that others have noted that Cowboy's hasn't taken cards for a while. I suspect that this is not as temporary as it is presented at least to my understanding. Also as a caveat, if you are an American Express person, make sure you have a second card available as many business in Panguitch don't take American Express. The inconvenience of having to get cash is the only reason I am giving Cowboy's four stars rather than five. Great food, a really fun western atmosphere in a building from the 1880s that is one of the three original commercial buildings in Panguitch make Cowboy's a fun but slightly inconvenient experience.

This was the best meal. Seriously good BBQ sauce they make, the waitress was Nice and chatty - Stephanie? We asked about the Karoake setup and sign that said karoake they had, she said, "Oh we don't have karoake. "So yeah! Small towns are awesome! THey are quirky and off beat, hours when they feel like it, CASH ONLY! Get the BEANS and the BAKED POTATO crispy too perfection (i am salivating right now...). WE agreed this was the best meal we had had on this vaca. The owners were there. Have the Polygomy Porter or the Heiffevessen (bad spelling but you get it). We got THe beef which is tri tip and yeah, it was sort of dry from the smoking but that is what BBQ sauce is for! which was delicious! No room for the peach cobbler but it looked awesome! GO THERE! for sure. Take cash. BE patient! it's a small town family run place so chill. yeah. great BBQ southern. I would totally recommend it! and you get to see the townspeople and YES they will stare but hey, made me feel exotic! They are nice folks you just have to turn down the city expectations and relax a bit. We did notice that prices on food and drink are comparable to the Bay area. Hmmmm. Dinner for two of us with two beers each was $50. Beef, potato and beans. Good though. Go for sure.

I'm from Texas and I must say this was pretty good. I had the turkey since I feared the beef wasn't going to be true brisket. It was smoked well and the bbq sauce is good. The beans were good too. My wife's chicken fried steak was delicious as well. The service is okay but definitely not great.

YUM!
