Best sushi you can find in Utah county.. Same for their teriyaki chicken! I have never left disappointed or not full. I love the unagi maki roll and shrimp tempura. My wife enjoys the Vegas roll and tempura shrimp/veggies. We highly recommend this place! Best sushi you can find in Utah county.. Same for their teriyaki chicken! Probably my favorite sushi place in Utah Co. Since I've started eating more and more sushi (and more, and more, and yet even more), I've found it harder to hit up my favorite SLC joints, meaning I've had to "settle" for some lower-quality fish, some overly sweet rolls, and some less-than-sanitary digs. One place I went to drenched their stuff in mayo. Another tasted like cat food. It was so bad, I figured I would never eat Utah Co. sushi again. So I was glad to find Asahi, which has been good both times I've tried it. I wouldn't say it was melt-in-your-mouth, blow-your-mind umami, but I was satisfied with their traditional maki rolls, their hamachi and tuna, their bento box, and their service (and ambiance). The fish seems good enough. The menu is large enough. The portions are generous and their tempura is fantastic. If I'm craving sushi and need a place down the street, I'll definitely come back.

Never been disappointed by Asahi. I have tried 10-15 different rolls over the last year or so and every single one is excellent. Service is usually great although when they get busy at lunch time orders can take a little longer. They have a great selection, probably about 30-40 options, so I'll be going back a few more times before I know which ones are my absolute favorites.

This place was a big disappointment. I was in town visiting a friend and we wanted sushi. We saw this place had great reviews. After eating there I have no idea why. I'm guessing there's not many sushi options around that area. First I ordered the calamari. Bad choice. It was greasy and totally frozen from a bag. Not that I expect fresh in the middle of Utah but it was bland and rubbery. We couldn't even finish it and I've never done that before. Then we had miso soup and ordered the caterpillar roll. The soup was ok but the caterpillar roll was also bland and tasted warm. Like it had been sitting out for awhile. We couldn't even finish that either. Overall I felt guilty I had suggested the place but I was surprised by the high rating. Never again. Locals might want to travel a little further and get some good sushi. You'll be amazed.

Normally I love this place, food is delicious but we tried to go here to eat Sunday September 6 and waited 20 minutes before anyone came to see how many people in our party. The hostess was also the only waitress and the bus boy. We decided to leave after 25 min of waiting . 3 people seated before us also left because no one came to offer them water or a menu. The last time we ate here service was really slow as well. Maybe there is a problem with management. We left and went to Shoga instead. Walked in and was seated immediately. The waitress was friendly and the food was delicious....just saying. I should clarify, there was not a line when we got to Asahi, only the 3 people waiting that actually left after they were seated.

This sushi is the best in Utah county!!! It's fresh and the rice is so soft and so delicious. The flavor of the rolls aren't super fishy which means it's super fresh. I had the playboy and the Vegas roll and they were amazing! Also my husband got the fried calamari and it was amazing too and the portion was very generous. I'm definitely coming back to this place like all the time. Also their hours are great, cuz they stay open till very late. Way better than all the other sushi places around this area.

Sushi in UTAH! Yes, pretty much in any big city in U.S. Now. However, I have to give 5 stars to ASAHI - great food, service, and a good atmosphere! Difinitely a place to return to.

This sushi spot was very very good! We live pretty far away but we're in the area and wanted sushi. This spot does not disappoint! They had all of the classic rolls that you expect and some really good unique ones. We tried one that was actually rolled in cucumber! We were very happy to find this spot and we will definitely be back when we are in the area again!

I'm not a huge sushi fan but Asahi makes me want more. The atmosphere is excellent and the food is delicious. For a sushi restaurant in Utah I can't complain. I would come back in a heart beat. Get the Playboy and the Sundance rolls. The flavors are different and unique. I would order them for sure. The gyoza was good. I'm a dumpling snob and I was pleased. Also, the fact that they're open late make Asahi even better!

Seriously one of the best sushi places I've ever been to, and I'm from Seattle originally. I always get either the Playboy or the Sweet Jesus roll, because aside from having great names, they're delicious. And the last time I went, the waitress recommended a dessert that was a version of deep-fried cheesecake -- my life has never been the same since a date and I shared that. Speaking of dates, the chill atmosphere is pretty much ideal if you want to have an in-depth conversation with someone. And for what you get, the price is fantastic. Asahi has now become one of my top food places to recommend in Orem/Provo!

Best sushi I have had in Utah County. I've never eaten there, but utilize their take out often. Don't buy grocery store sushi! They are fast and cost the same as what you can get at the grocery store, but fresh and delicious.

I chose this restaurant to celebrate my soon-to-be son-in-law's birthday after reading the reviews. Good choice! The edamame with sea salt appetizer was plenty for the four of us. I loved their house salad--it had shredded carrots, mandarin oranges, tomatoes and lettuce with sesame ginger dressing. Miso soup also came with entrees. My donburi teriyaki rice bowl with steak and tempura sweet potatoes, asparagus and zucchini was delicious! My husband liked his chicken teriyaki with steamed rice and grilled vegetables. The other three shared five different kinds of sushi: the basic california roll, super dragon, playboy, unagi maki and spider with a variety of eel, crab, shrimp, tuna, salmon, and fish eggs. Ginger shavings and wasabi added all the flavor we could handle. We passed on dessert because we were full and were having birthday treats later. Our waitress kept our glasses filled and the food coming in a timely manner. Nice booths, tables and sushi bar.

The place that we usually go for sushi in Orem was closed down so I Yelped it and found this INCREDIBLE gem! Asahi will not disappoint! The decor is darling, and the food was some of the best sushi ever! We asked for some suggestions and got a variety of rolls and they were all FANTASTIC! Our waitress was so helpful and we certainly will be back when we are in the area! Asahi your sushi is GREAT! Thank you for a wonderful meal!

Super-Fresh, Friendly, Tasty, Big Portions. That is a big compliment, Asahi, coming from a California coast sushi-loving native. Portions of fish were big, fish was very high quality, and prepared well. The two rolls I ordered were nicely balanced and well executed. Fish so fresh I though it was going to jump off the plate and into my water. This is definitely a favorite!

Great sushi. Great atmosphere. And they're open late on weekends. The fish was fresh, the rolls were presented perfectly and the waitress was super helpful with recommending customer favorites. It is kind of far away from everything as far as location, but it's worth it, especially if you're hungry at 11pm and want real food. I went with a sushi roll & the Japanese noodles. I know, who orders noodles at a sushi place? I did. And everyone else regretted not doing the same, because the noodles here are delicious!

This was my first time here. The house salad was incredible. I got the Vegas roll and the Mesa. I liked the Vegas roll and The Mesa was ok. Tasted like a little salad. I would highly recommend this place. Fast service quiet and the food was delicious.

First visit here, sushi was tasty, until I bit into the California roll and nearly broke my tooth! A large white hard piece with a dot of red came out of the California roll. So disgusting! The waitress showed it to the chef, he dismissed and just told her to take it off my bill. Big deal, it was $2.50 - 1/2 off 2nd roll. It appeared to be possibly a part of a fingernail. I felt like throwing up, I was sooo grossed out. When the bill came, they forgot to figure in the buy one, get one1/2 off, and they didn't take off the roll with the partial fingernail. How they couldn't figure out that hard piece when they are hand rolling the sushi, is beyond me. Who knows the cleanliness factor....

As much as I hate to say it, reading through several of the other reviews, there's a lot of wishful thinking in terms of this place. The 50% banner in front of the restaurant should (and will) tell you all you need to know. In case it doesn't, while there is a decent fish to rice ratio, it's unfortunately not very good fish. Out of 5 rolls, there was only one that was actually good, with the rest ranging from passable to borderline bad (spicy scallop - if you've had the scallop roll at Tsunami, don't bother with this, for you have been ruined). The one that was actually good, I have to qualify somewhat as it was a deep-fried roll, rare for me and while the inside was quite good, the exterior was awful. I imagine it was what they supposed for tempura and while I don't know exactly what it was, I do know what it wasn't, which was tempura batter. So, inside was good, exterior was throwaway. The rest were more or less average and unmemorable. They do have actual green tea, which is a nice bonus. They further have calamari rings, which appeared to be in a beer batter of some sort. As soon as I see calamari rings, I'm done, no matter how good the frozen bag they get them from. These were a struggle to finish and were borderline calamari chips. The inside is also odd...the bar was kind of cool, but where the lighting was supposed to be warm and inviting, it was more like dark and mysterious, aces for a haunted house, but not so hot for a sushi bar. The rest of it, small place this is, was also done in muted tones. I don't know whoever decided that having exposed ceiling ductwork was a nice touch, but it isn't and I wish everyone would stop. IIt frankly looks cheap. This place also has that. Very little actual Japanese decor here. Service was good, if a bit slow, but that's not much of a surprise. Sushi restaurants are generally lousy at moving quickly. All in all, this basically offers the same thing Yamato does, which is very average quality at full prices...until you hit the 50% happy "hour", which covers most of their operating hours. Neither one is a destination visit, though and for sushi options South of the point, Shoga is still your best bet.

First timer here, I love it. Came here on a Saturday around 11:00am with my hubby. I was surprised that the interior was much more upscale than I thought it would be. It's one of those "don't judge a book by it's cover" situations. There are about 4 or 5 booths, 6 tables, and 8 bar seats. They seemed a little understaffed that night, but it may have just been due to the 3 parties and load of other guests. The service was great though. Everyone was very friendly and helpful. We decided to sit at the bar. I'm still getting use to the whole "sushi roll" thing that Utah seems to have going on. We ordered the "Playboy" and "Vegas" rolls and Ikura nigiri . I loved the Playboy roll. No part of the roll was overpowering or too saucy, and the fish was fresh and light. I wish I could say I loved the Vegas roll just as much. I love cream cheese and salmon in my sushi, which in this case, I loved the flavor and the innards of the roll. The only thing I didn't care for was the tempura outer shell, it seemed too crunchy and a bit hard in certain areas. That being said, the flavor was great and presentation was amazing, especially sitting at the bar being able to see the rolls being made. The best best thing about this place that will have my heart forever is they had IKURA. It was sooo delicious. I would probably come back next time and just order that. The rolls run about $10-14 and the nigiri is $5 for 2 pieces or $11 for 5 pieces. They have happy hour half off sushi rolls Sun-Thurs 3:00pm-Close.

I really enjoy sushi but living in Utah County has its limitation. Fortunately Asahi is arguably the best sushi establishment in Utah County. I've tried a little over 15 different rolls and haven't been disappointed. They also have competitive prices. When I get sushi I prefer the purest in flavor. I DON'T want the freshest raw seafood deep fried and smothered in some mayo sauce and Sriracha. If you agree, I strongly recommend their geisha roll. It's an assortment of fresh fish rolled using cucumber and has lemon squeezed over top. No rice or seaweed. It's fantastic. Sure you can get all you can eat for $20 but remember, that's $20 for sub par raw meat and most of it will be rice. I'd rather spend $20 on a couple of decent rolls with some sashimi and not want to explode after.

One of my favorite sushi places to go to! This place is definitely one of the more low-key sushi bars I've been to. But then again, I always go on Sundays or week days in the afternoon 2-4. Whenever I go, I ALWAYS have to get the Tuna Tataki (the best I've had from ANYWHERE) and the Rockstar roll with something else. I've tried some of the other rolls, edamame, shrimp tempura, bento box, miso soup and udon noodles and none of them have ever disappointed. Sushi is unlike all the other 50% off sushi joints that have been on the uprise in Utah (drenched in spicy mayo and fried with thick layers of tempura) so expect them to be a little more pricier! But hey, they have happy hour Sundays through Thursdays, I think, between 3-5 (not positive about the time) Servers are always friendly. What more can you ask for?!

I came here with my sister on the recommendation of yelp as it was the highest rated sushi restaurant in the Orem area. We were most pleasantly surprised by all six rolls that we had. The ambience was a very good, nice and quiet and our server was very attentive. Unbeknownst to us they had a special running which runs every Monday through Thursday from 3 to 10 PM the special is buy one specialty roll get half the next one. We both felt that this was very fresh and the presentation was beautiful and thoughtful. They have an interesting combination of rolls and decided to give a few a try. Will definitely be back.

This was my first time eating here. My wife and I both enjoyed the food and sushi. The house salad was really good and it was only $3. The sushi was also worth it and we will be coming back for sure. A little more expensive as it was about $60 for the two of us. That is the only reason I didn't give it a 5 star ... But of course we are talking sushi.

This place is consistently pretty decent. They offer good rolls at a good price, and love Siracha maybe as much as I do (MAYBE). It is located in a strip mall, but the interior is much better than its surroundings. As far as Utah County is concerned, it's probably the best they have. I live in Salt Lake and can get much better out here, but I stop here when I'm in that direction. Service is decent as well. Give it a shot

We've been frequenting Asahi for about two months now and I feel like another review update is necessary. Their sushi menu is about average and even though the listed rolls are quite fun and unique I got tired of it pretty quickly. Chances are it's gonna happen if you eat here every week like I do. I've found their freestyle by chef Zula is phenomenon. You get plenty of fish per roll and he knows his stuff. Another reason to give Asahi a go is their miso soup. It is absolutely scrumptious and sooo good. You must try it out at least once when you come here. You will forever thank me. Although you can't really go wrong with any roll here, I highly recommend their Sweet Jesus, Spicy Tuna, and last but not least the 'Wet Dreams', chef Zula's signature roll. P.s: If you decide to freestyle, after 3:00 pm sunday - thurs only they have buy one get 2nd half off. If you decide to go for a late night snack, their late night special 10pm - 1 am Fri & Sat only they have amazing deals on a few appetizers and rolls.

This place looks kind of like a dive from the outside, but it's actually quite nice inside. I really liked the spider roll, but my miso soup wasn't very hot. And the tempura was TERRIBLE. The shrimp was soggy and the vegetables were breaded super thick and were very greasy. Also, they were playing some sort of dubstep/techno music that was distracting and made it hard to have a conversation.

The Sushi and sake is on par with most great sushi places but what was spectacular here was the desert. The fried carmel cheesecake thing was the best treat i have had in years. It was like a churro stuffed with cheesecake covered in carmel and sprinkled with cinnamon. So glad the waitress suggested it.

  • Zippy T.

The salmon donburi and the Xango dessert were excellent. The side salad even had a little something special in it with some mandarin oranges and tomatoes that made it almost taste like a Chinese chicken salad. Only downsides were that the steak had some parts that were somewhat unchewable and the teriyaki sauce (on the salmon) tends more to the bitter side then I like it. The steak was perfectly flavored. Really enjoyed that first bite. (The steak got cold too fast. Wish they could serve it on a warm plate.)

  • Kara N.

Loved this place. The sushi was fabulous! We both got two rolls each, plus a bowl of miso soup (amazing, by the way). The price was a little high for us lowly college students, but it was well worth it. The rolls were beautiful. I know that sounds dumb, but they were presented perfectly. We will definitely be going back again.

Asahi has such great service and food. Some of my favorite rolls I have tried have been at Asahi. Try the honeymoon roll. It has mango and jalapeño slices!

  • Jean W.

Some of the freshest fish I've had. That alone impressed me more than anything else about our visit to Asahi. The rolls were really good, with well-thought out and somewhat unique combinations. A small-medium menu, with few choices other than raw. I can't help but talk about the food first, because it really was impressive. The miso soup was absolutely flawless and delicious. Probably the best I've had anywhere. I really wanted a second bowl, but resisted in anticipation of the forthcoming treats. Of course, we had to order the Sweet Jesus roll. How can you not? It was everything it was cracked up to be. Lovely, silky fish packed with delicious flavors. I will crave this roll. The Honeymoon roll was also mouthwateringly good. I don't normally prefer mango in most rolls because the mango itself is rarely served at its proper ripeness. This was perfect, and contributed beautifully with the jalapeno to this yummy roll. No need for additional sauce or wasabi. My least favorite roll of the night was the Heart Attack, and it was still really good. But it was deep fried - don't know how I missed that detail on the menu. I'm not a huge fan of the deep fried approach. Despite its preparation, we forced it right down and didn't hate a moment of it. The service was spot-on, very friendly and informative without being the least bit intrusive or neglectful. She was gracious and lovely, and made our evening even better. Very nice atmosphere dining in, with stylized lighting which made me squint a few times to read the menu. I liked it, though. It was nice for dinner. Sushi bar sat quite a few, and provided a TV behind. Small dining room consists of a few booths, and several tables. Despite its tiny size, it wasn't crowded on a Saturday night, but was steadily busy while we were there, with several to-go orders being carried away. Asahi turned out to be a very nice spot for tasty sushi and nice evening out. Can't wait to come back.

Meh. More of American Japanese food. Hard to find as it's hidden behind a Chinese buffet place. Tuna appetizer pretty ordinary. Tomato slices with tuna and avocado...really? The seafood yakisoba was grease central.

Great sushi in Orem. Took my Japanese grandmother here and she loved it. Price point is reasonable for the quality of the food, and the service was attentive and polite. Unassuming entry area facing the street, but the inside ambiance is nice.

Had to try it out because it's close to home and had such good reviews. The inside decor makes for a very intimate dining experience. It seems like you step into a different world when you walk into this place. The Sushi that they make is like art to look at and has a great flavorful experience in your mouth. I'd like to sit at the bar the next time I go to watch them create the sushi. I'm so glad that there is a good and consistent place to eat Sushi in Orem. So glad I tried this place out.

I am not sure I want to give this place 4 stars... It is not 3 star quality but close. I expected to get what u paid for, in other words I was not expecting some of the finer tasting sushi I have eaten but I was still expecting quality. Unfortunately this place used very poor ingredients. The fish was not fresh, neither were the vegetables not the rice. That said the ideas they had for their rolls were interesting and creative. One roll we had was the playboy and it was surprisingly refreshing and light. It really was a joy to eat. On the other hand, the nigiri and the sashimi were shameful. The fish was NOT old to the point of being a health problem but old enough that the natural flavor of fresh fish was long gone. The service was good and relatively quick and attentive. The atmosphere left something to be desired. It was almost like they did not want you to see what you were eating. As sushi restaurants go, it was okay. Nothing close to spectacular or even good, just okay. I wouldn't go there again but I am partial to nigiri.

Presentation of food was great. Playboy and Vegas rolls were good. The sushi chef was super friendly. Service was just okay. Japanese noodles were a let down. Overall... Not bad, not amazing. We will probably try somewhere new next time. May go here again someday and give it another try.

Dropped in to this place while in town on business and my to buddies and I were not disappointed. Rolls were buy one, get one half off so we each ordered up a couple of rolls and shared all around. The Sweet Jesus and Playboy rolls were my favorites, but everything was fresh and delicious. I would like to see a little more depth in their beer offerings, but overall I would definitely recommend Asahi to anyone. Great eats!

Beautiful spot. Great energy. Delicious sushi and the prawns were an unexpected treat. If you ever ate at Yapona in American Fork this place will be pleasantly familiar to you. Make this a sushi destination location from where ever you are in Utah county. You will be glad you did!

I might've had my hopes too high. The food was good to okay; nothing terrible, just forgettable. Our five rolls all tasted the same, and frankly, they were kind of bland. I'm glad to find SOMEwhere to go for sushi so I can continue to avoid Happy Sumo at all costs, but I'd still rather make the drive to Takashi in Salt Lake.

This was a great sushi spot in Orem! I was wary at first due to the location (I've had some lackluster fish experiences in Utah County), but they really delivered! Great miso, and rolls. We tried: the dynamite, Xanax, Vegas, sweet Jesus, summer fling, and a couple others. All of them were very tasty! The price isn't bad either. He service was a bit slow, so make sure you have an hour. The inside of the restaurant is great, so don't be fooled by the sketchy exterior.

  • Eric L.

Great sushi, nicely crafted with fresh ingredients and good portion of fish with each roll, you can tell the sushi chef has been doing this for a long time, not just some guy working at a sushi bar. The service is fast and friendly, and the ambience is nice. All in all, I think Asahi is a great place for sushi in north Orem, but entrees...not so much. So far, I've tried their teriyaki chicken, which was grilled chicken with just salt and pepper with some teriyaki sauce that is pretty bland. The tonkatuse and rice, they beat the hell out the pork chops so much so that they were only like a quarter inch thick, and tasted like fried salty crunchy...something, I couldn't tell. Asahi is a great sushi joint, but I'm not sure I'm going to try their entrees again.

So yummy! Sunday through Thursday after lunch they do a buy one get one half off on their rolls! The Vegas is super good! Also get the chef freestyle roll! It's $11 and just whatever the chef is feeling! We ordered it and got a salmon cucumber lemon roll and it was heavy on the fish (in a good way) and yummy!! And the miso soup is prime. I'm a fan!!

A few of my co-workers told me about Asahi about a year ago. I love Shoga and they both insisted Asahi was at least as good if not better. I still love Shoga but find myself eating at Asahi more often these days. I think their service is better (at least more consistent - Shoga is hit-or-miss). The prices are comparable but I think Asahi is a better deal because their Sashimi servings are a lot more generous and this is my favorite. I think Asahi and Shoga are the only places to get decent sushi in Utah County. They are also the only two places where I've been able to find spider rolls (soft shell crab rolls) - they are delicious and cheap since they aren't considered specialty rolls. If I have one complaint it is that sometimes the sashimi is served too cold. I like it a bit chilled but when it has an icy center that's just too much - I've had this happen twice at Asahi but everything else is so good I continue coming back for more :)

This place was top notch. Everything from the gyoza to the sushi to the seaweed salad was just about perfect. I have to knock Asahi down a notch because they were playing awful reggae music in the background. Reggae is bad as is. This was covers of reggae songs to add insult to injury. And did I mention this was at a Japanese restaurant? There is really no excuse for this. I don't expect to hear strictly Japanese music playing but reggae? Totally ruined the ambiance. If I ever come back to Orem, I am bringing ear plugs.

What a surprise. I'd eaten at previous "restaurants" in this space. They were totally unlike what we found here. I expected a place done on the cheap. I didn't get any of that feeling here. It is a nice warm space. I'd hit the point of having given up on sushi and Japanese food in the area. The only places the wife and I had previously liked had all gone downhill to the point there was no reason to eat at them anymore. I didn't expect anything particularly authentic, and it wasn't. However, it is very good and has the right sensibilities. We started with the special prawn appetizer. Excellent. The miso soup is absolutely first rate. It was one of the really high points of the night. The tempura was a bit bland, but nice and crispy. It's just unfortunate the "vegetable" tempura was lots of starchy squash and starchy yams. Nothing else, just lots of squash and yams. The sushi itself was as good as I could have expected. The fish was reasonably fresh and the flavors were good. The rice was compressed far too much, but the ratio of rice to fish was good. We got one roll that had thinly sliced lemon around it. It didn't have any mayo, hot peppers or other goofy ingredients I just can't get myself to want to try. It was pretty darn tasty. There's a little sushi place way out n the Sunset in San Francisco that is about as good as it gets in SFO. I asked the chef there to make me something unusual and he did the thin sliced lemon. I've never seen it anywhere else. It's a great final roll to finish off a meal. The server was fairly clueless about some of the menu, but she was nice and efficient. The food was prepared promptly. They are also open Sunday and have a pretty good beer and sake selection for the area. That's a couple great options. We'll be adding Asahi to our regular rotation. --------------------- This section is for the ramen. Skip it if you don't eat Ramen. When I found out they had Ramen, I had to come back and give it a try. Like other places in Utah County, this is some undefined style of ramen. The noodles are a little doughy, the egg is hard boiled. At that point it can't be more than OK. The pork slices were better than average and the other accents were good. The broth was acceptable. All in all, a decent bowl, but not something I'd order again. That said, it's still the best I've had in Utah County. Broth - C Noodles - D Egg - D Pork - B Additions - C

It's worth the drive up from Provo. The sushi isn't mind blowing, but the fish seems fresh and the price is right. I came during "happy hour," which is 3pm-close Sunday-Thursday, and I had a tuna roll, a Philly roll and cup of miso soup for $11. I'll defiantly be back.

Got a few appetizers and a lot of sushi. The service, ambient and food quality was great! It's a darker and calming interior. The play boy and sun dance roll were very tasty. The service was maybe a little slow, but only a little considering it's a nice sit down place. 5 stars!

We started out with the Gyoza, it was good and the sauce that came with it was amazing. Then I had the Vegas & Heart Attack Rolls and my fiance had Chicken Donburi both were delicious. The atmosphere was good and the staff was very friendly and accommodating. I've eating Sushi in several different US cities and I will say this doesn't match what I had in Seattle. Although it is definitely the best Japanese and especially Sushi restaurant I've eaten at in Utah county. I will definitely be back. Also Sushi Rolls are buy one at regular price get one 50% off after 3PM right now. They are worth the full price, but why not save some money.

If I had to rate Asahi on a scale of 10, I'd put it at a 6. I didn't walk away disappointed, but I also didn't walk away all that impressed. A couple of the rolls were very good, but overall they were all pretty average. We had the following rolls: Vegas Roll (good "beginner" roll for people that don't love sushi... but this Vegas Roll wasn't even my favorite) Playboy Roll (the waitress said it is the most popular and I thought it was pretty good) Xanax Roll (not very good) Crispy Roll (the best roll we had all night) Sundance Roll (pretty good) Honeymoon Roll (not my favorite... the only roll with mango I believe) I used to work near this area and frequented this restaurant location when it was 1 of a dozen different places. So it's your typical strip mall turned sushi bar restaurant. Not a bad atmosphere but nothing special. The waitress was helpful but didn't seem to know much more than the ingredients listed on the menu. Not that I "expect" the waitress to have the chef's knowledge, but she didn't even have her own personal favorite. Maybe it was her first week? The price was pretty standard for sushi although I can pay the same amount down the road at Happy Sumo and be a little more satisfied with the quality. So overall I would be safe recommending this sushi bar if you're in the area and want some quality sushi, but I wouldn't make it a destination date night.

Consistent, and above average sushi for Utah County. Great prices with their buy-one-get-one-half off sushi specials. Good atmosphere, beer friendly, with attractive waitresses :)

My wife and I have seen this place several times and decided that we'd give it a try tonight and we're really glad we did. We took at seat at the sushi bar and Zane was there to serve us. He gave us several recommendations ranging from the Playboy to the Spider to the Super Dragon. Each roll was absolutely delicious. The fish was fresh and to portions were just perfect. We'll definitely be returning.

Nice small place has out door seating, we arrived at 10 and it was empty by 10.30 it was full on a Friday night. I like sushi my wife not so much I ordered Vegas California and playboy all 3 were good we both had house Salads the dressing had a bit of fire to it but quickly died. Drinks were good the presentation of the sushi was great. Wife ate something with noodles and squash and way to many onions. They have a weekend deal after 10 prices drop we walked out paying 38$ plus tip. Happy will be going back!

Honestly my wife and I came on a whim. Poki is awesome. The Vegas roll was one of the best I've ever had. Will for sure be coming back.

Great sushi. Very fresh and a good value The service is always very fast but never rushed I tried the teriyaki beef tonight - - something I never get at a sushi restaurant. It was delicious I hate to draw in the crowds (I want to keep this place a secret) - but this place is definitely the best in town

When I first walked into Asahi and noticed how small and dark it is, at first it was kinda off putting. But then I started to see how clean and how much the little lighting did to help the overall feel for the place. With colored lights inside out the change color at any given time I almost was waiting for techno music to come on and the bass to drop a fat beat. I sat at the counter and told the chef/owner Zula to make me something sexy with allot of spice. And I got just that. This was a thing of beauty. It was so fresh and clean. Its like he read my mind. Asahi servers sushi and a whole lot of class. I will have to dine there during there happy hour sometime. As for now Asahi is my top pic for sushi in Utah county.

I came here because of the Yelp reviews on this place. I wasn't disappointed. GREAT sushi, and great service. Its in a strip mall type atmosphere, but they've done the best with it as they could. My family liked it as well. If you're an Oremite, don't want to drive too far and have a pretty good roll, you can't go wrong here

My favorite roll was the honeymoon. I love jalapeños, mango and cilantro. This was a good combo of these. Their other roll were good too. Excellent atmosphere and very clean.

This is our very favorite sushi restaurant and we have tried most in Utah County. We love the owner and his sweet wife, Bolora, and have known them since Yapona days. Everything they serve is wonderful. The Ultimate Prawns are a "must have" appetizer and the rolls are top notch!! The ambience is calm and peaceful, the music is perfect and our only complaint is that there aren't enough tables all the time because the restaurant is so popular!! Definitely worth the wait though!!

This place has decent sushi for a reasonable price, but by no means did it blow our socks off. The quality of fish was pretty good. The service was excellent. We'll probably stick to Takashi in Salt Lake for sushi until Utah Valley gets an excellent sushi restaurant.

This place is a favorite for my husband and I. Luckily it's up the street from our house! There is never a long wait, the service is always fast and professional and the sushi is right on par with other more popular sushi restaurants. The super dragon is my favorite!!

We were in the area again visiting family so we dropped by. Last time were were in the restaurant was very slow and I was a bit worried they might not last. Needless to say, I was quite pleased to see them still in business and this time, had quite a bit more business when we dropped by. They still have great sushi at a great price and were super friendly. I'm a fan and I'll be back next time I'm in town.

I don't usually review a restaurant unless they really deserve it, being really bad or excellent. In this case Asahi is excellent. I eat here at least once per week and I am very picky as I have traveled all over the world eating sushi and consider myself a sushi snob. Not only are they very consistent with their great service and excellent sushi but all the other dishes here are awesome as well. The Tuna or Salmon salad at lunch is to die for and with pricing that cannot be beat. The bento boxes as well are just a perfect and extremely tasty lunch. I can never say enough good things about this place.

Asahi is a great place to go if you like sushi! Im usually used to all you can eat sushi places, but we wanted to try this place when we heard about happy hour (Sun-Thur after 3:00 buy one get one half off on sushi rolls). We had 4 rolls and it was more than enough. Ranking the ones we had... 1- Rock Star 2- Play Boy 3- Crispy 4- Vegas But even the Vegas was good! Just lowest on my list :) the atmosphere is great and our waitress was very nice and helpful. We didn't have to wait at all and received our sushi promptly. We went on a Monday night. I would highly recommend you try it for yourself.

Great lunch value! Had the sushi special for $9.99 with spicy tuna and tempura shrimp it was too much food for me but vet good. Service was attentive, the water glasses stayed full. The xantac, playboy, and geisha rolls were consumed quickly by my coworkers with praise. The Geisha was rolled in cucumber without rice or nori. The chicken yakimoto was made special for another coworker with just mushroom which he enjoyed and encouraged us to try. I think we will be back.

Visiting from Las Vegas and our friends recommended Asahi. Our group had several specialty rolls, prices were pretty close to what I pay in Vegas. The "comfort" rolls looked cheaper, but we didn't order those. Spider roll was decent but not great. Sweet Jesus was my favorite. Unique flavors in several rolls. Fish and rice were fresh tasting. Children's chicken and noodles dish was the best flavored chicken I've tasted in a long time. Overall, you won't be disappointed with anything you order. Top notch sushi restaurant.

Really good sushi, reasonable prices. The fish was really fresh. We sat at the bar and the sushi chef was fun to watch and pretty helpful. our favorite sushi rolls were the funky roll and the playboy. Going back, I'd want to try more sashimi. The service was good. Overall, a good sushi place, especially for the area.

Awesome food and decor. Service is a little slow but friendly.Food makes up for it. Prices are pretty good. Good variety on the menu, sushi is not the only type of food that you will find here.

I give Asahi 5/5 stars based on the context of being a Sushi restaurant in Utah Valley. I would place the sushi quality as far as freshness, presentation, and taste as right on par with Happy Sumo and Shoga, my other two favorite places for Sushi in Utah Valley. My wife and I ordered the seared yellowfin as an appetizer and it was some of the best Tuna Tataki I've ever had! The avocado and tomato were perfectly ripe, and the Tuna was seared perfectly. That followed with equally delicious sushi. The japanese food is what you would expect from a sushi bar: good, but nothing outstanding. I would definitely recommend this place.

Great sushi and sashimi. Appetizers are what you would expect from a quality sushi bar. Good news is they will soon be licensed to serve saki etc. I would highly recommend dining here if you have a chance. The staff is also friendly and accommodating.

Went here once so far and loved it. They have some great sushi. Between four of us, we had about 6 different roles and they were all really good. We also had the spicy edemame. It was very unique and very good.

Had the lunch special. Two rolls for 9.99. Philly was very good, but I couldn't really taste the crab in the spider roll. wife's bento box was excellent. tasty tender beef was definitely the star. Salad was good,as was the potstickers. Will return.

I have tried all of the Sushi places in Orem, as well as many other places, and this ranks among the best. It is by far the best sushi in the Orem area. They have fantastic lunch deals, and delicious Sushi. We love to get the Vegas roll when we go. It is to die for! It is one of Orem's best kept secrets. It is chic, clean, the waiters and sushi chef are so kind, and the food is absolutely delicious!! Give it a try! You don't want to miss out on this place!

I've been here 2 or 3 times now; time to write a review. In short, I'm a fan. The decor and atmosphere are appropriate and very nice, the service is quiet but adequate, and the food is delicious. I had sushi on one visit and a Beef bento box on the other. I'm not a huge sushi fan, but the sushi was fine. The bento box was *really* good. Not much to say beyond that... great food, good prices, convenient location, super atmosphere. Yay!
