High Blood Pressure at Applebee's

Most of the foods served at Applebee's restaurants are high in sodium. Unless you are visiting the restaurant or dining here in the group, there are hardly any options from the main meals if you wish to keep your blood pressure in check. You can rely on a few salad options though. If lucky, you may find low-sodium ribs as well at the restaurant.

Avoid Green Goddess Wedge at Applebee's. Broccoli Cheese Soup and French Onion Soup contain over 1000mg sodium and hence must be skipped as well. High Cholesterol at Applebee's

Well, steaks and ribs go hand in hand with cholesterol. Being their signature dish, it will be a challenge to find low-calorie, healthy food for those concerned with their cholesterol levels. However, you can always opt for their salads and other light foods to keep the cholesterol in check.

While the salads and soups sound healthy, you must skip the Fiesta Chopped Salad and Loaded Potato Soup at Applebee's. I know what you're thinking - why would I waste my time reviewing an Applebees? Well, you move to Provo and go to dinner with people who don't like to try new things. I've been here a few times with people who just like to have a variety of food choices. While I'm much more interested in wanting to try something different, I can settle with places like Applebees, mainly because their portions are decent and the price isn't horrid. My last visit to Applebees may be receiving a slightly biased review. I was starving after shopping all day, and the friend I was shopping with kept changing her mind in regards to where she would want to eat. I named off a bunch of places, including just trying something in Heber, a little town outside of Provo Canyon, on our way back to Provo. When that idea was shot down, she suggested Applebees. Sure, why not. I'll just shoot myself in the foot. I wasn't enthused to go there, but my hunger swayed me not to care. While the food took a little longer than desired to get to us, I was pleasantly surprised with the taste of it. Again, mind you that I was starving, so this might be a tainted review. I ordered the oriental chicken roll up - good choice. I only wish they put water chestnuts in that thing. The french fries were so good and fresh. My friend ordered the club, which looked okay, except for the fact that they put the sandwich on white bread...I'm a big fan of the sourdough club. Two of her friends came along - one ordered the fajita towers and the other ordered a sirloin. I've got to say, they could have done a much better job on the presentation of that sucker. They brought out her salad first (one of her sides), and then just brought out a plate of mashed potatoes and what looked to be a measly looking steak...this thing was small. I was much happier with my entree. One thing seemed a little strange. The place wasn't that busy, but they had servers EVERYWHERE, just standing around. But that didn't bother me too much - our server wasn't bad at all to look at, and the playoffs were on, so it was a good dinner. I'll be going back when I'm with friends who esteem variety higher than uniqueness and quality. But I'll give it up to my Applebees of Orem - they make good french fries...mmm...now I want some again.

It's Applebee's, what more can I say? Alright, I'll say a little bit more. If you're looking for a restaurant with a mediocre environment, mediocre food, mediocre drinks and mediocre service, then this is the place for you! The only time that I really go to Applebee's anymore is with a group, after 9 PM (half priced appetizers), and when I feel like having some drinks without braving the bar scene and prices. If you decide to choose Applebee's for your dining needs, then you already know what you're getting yourself in to.

I was a regular here back when I was a student a few years back. Management was amazingly awesome when John was still around, and anyone who used to come here back around 2010-2013 knows what I mean. He is the funny black guy who managed the store. Now that he's been gone, the whole environment here changed. Staff is not happy like they used to be, karaoke night, which was always a packed house, can barely draw a crowd, and even the food seems less happy to be served than before. I still go here from time to time when I'm in the area visiting friends and we want a place where everyone can order something, but it's just not the same anymore. This used to be a real fun place to go enjoy a decent meal at a good price at, but it just feels sad inside now.

Our waitress Aime was amazing. That was the only good thing about our experience... The vegetables were completely raw even though they were supposed to be cooked. Apparently the pasta dishes are really good.

We went to Applebee's on a Saturday night and it was pretty busy but we sat at the bar. We don't drink, but the bartender was really awesome and very attentive to us. We did a 2 for $25 deal and the food came out great. We got artichoke dip, oriental chicken salad, and bourbon steak. We wish we had more chips with the appetizer but besides that our food tasted yummy. We also got lemonades that tasted pretty good.

I got the Fiesta Lime Chicken and it was seriously amazing! The pink tex mex ranch they put on the chicken is tangy and when you add the little cup of salsa it bring out a whole slew of new flavors! I was completely satisfied with this meal. My only regret is not getting a picture because it was presented so prettily! My husband had the Triple Bacon Burger with the BBQ fries and he said it was delicious!

I've had some bad experiences here but things have gotten better now that the got rid of the crappie manager. Service can be slow at times. I would say it's a crap shoot on what you will get.

This place really gives applebees a bad name. I have had great experiences at other locations. This one is poorly managed and unprofessional staffed. Wait times are not long to get in because they have no customers. My first time I went my appetizers were served cold instead of hot like they should have and my burger and fries was burnt. My wife had the same problem. How can you mess up an American classic. I asked to speak with the manager and he basically said that there was nothing he could do and almost implying it was my fault. Really? We went recently because we had a gift card and our service was better. I liked our waiter but the manager was letting some patrons kids run wild in the restsurant. They were running around, hoping on top of tables, just all around obnoxious. I would not recommend this location. Food usually is good but the staff, particularly management, leaves a lot to be desired.

Overpriced for the bad food they give you. People next to us found plastic wrap and various other items in their salad. My meal was burnt. Chips were stale.

Totally messed up our pick-up order. I should have checked it before I left, but I figured two hamburgers wasn't that hard to get right. They messed it up and asked us to make the 25 minute round-trip to pick up two new burgers. Just not worth your time or money to eat here. Go somewhere else.

Was served WARM LEMONADE!! So gross you know it's a bad sign if they can't even get your drink cold!! Steaks are so tiny and are really cheap cuts of meat.

I'm sorry, but for me, this is the food they serve you in hell. Waiter: "Hello, my name is Lucifer and I'll be your waiter. Hm? What's that? You'd like a steak medium rare? Where do you think we are? Sorry, but this is a fiery inferno, so everything's well done. And I mean WELL done. Just ask Tyler Florence--that's him over there. He's been here for years . . ."

  • Joel R.

The staff is always slow and the food is always warm, not hot. Sadly, because I use to love getting together with everyone at Applebee's. Perhaps it's just this location. I'll still stop by Applebee's if invited but not this location.

My husband & I received a gift certificate to Applebees for Christmas, so we gave it a try for dinner last night (despite the fact that we've eaten here a couple times in the past & swore we'd never go back) The evening didn't start off too bad, we were quickly seated & it only took the waitress about 10 minutes to greet us with an "I'll be with you in a minute" Once we placed our order & got our drinks, we continued to wait about 30 minutes for our food. (which is understandable, we did order a salad & burger (Obviously, the 2 most labor intensive meals to prepare..) We were STARVING by the time we got our food, so you'd think it would have been insanely delicious, but no, it was gross. I'm pretty sure that the burger & fries sat under the heat lamp for 20 of the 30 minutes, or maybe their fries are always that stale? We were reminded again, why we don't eat at Applebees. Chilis is right down the street. Their menu is almost identical, but the food & service is wayyy better.

I've never been a big fan of applebee's. But I decided to give it another chance by going there on a Wednesday night. Apparently half of Orem decided to go at the same time. We were seated close to the door, so the winter wind was blowing on us nearly the whole time. I got one of their chicken dishes, and I'm sorry but I like my chicken seasoned. I know that Applebee's has karaoke, but if I have to YELL to be heard by the guy sitting a foot from me, it's too loud. Their wings are good and I loved their apple chimi, but other than that, it is not worth it.

We went to this Applebees location last Saturday (11/10/2012) at about 6:15 pm and our wait was about 15 minutes which isn't bad for a Saturday night in Orem. Our waitress was nice but apparently forgetful. After a short wait the other two people in my party received their food but I did not. It took a while but the waitress eventually admitted she had forgotten my order. The trusty pencil and pad of paper come in handy in avoiding those situations, but that's neither here nor there. Also, we had not received silverware or napkins and after a few reminders she brought them out. Our waitress shared with us that she had been at work since 10:00 am. She was pushing 9 hours at work which is a long time for a server. She ended up giving me a free dessert, which was very nice of her. In general, we were satisfied with our food. It tasted good and it was hot. Our waitress made mistakes, but like her, I'm not perfect. She had a long day which made it understandable to me. I've been there too. Though she didn't have to, she comped my dessert, a gesture I appreciated. So, to show her I wasn't dissatisfied I left her a nice tip. Considering the time we waited, the quality of the food and service, the price we paid, and the way they handled the mistakes I'll throw down 4 stars.

Can't remember why we stopped going to Applebees, I think it was a dispute about cayenne in Wyoming. Anyway, two weeks on the road and we're back in civilization, and Applebees happens to be walking distance from our hotel. Steak for me, grilled chicken salad for her. I gotta say, it was perfect and about the best meal I've had in weeks. Steak was cooked perfectly, mashed potatoes were amazing, steamed veg pretty good. Service was excellent and relentlessly cheerful. Price good. After two weeks of road/tourist food, this was a revelation.

I really don't like it when the server argues with customers. Had ordered fish & chips. The tartar sauce was spicy hot. The menu never mentioned spicy hot. I've never had spicy hot tartar sauce with fish. Our server gave quite an unprofessional response. This particular restaurant unfortunately has a reputation for unfriendly, slow, unprofessional service. They seem to have enough staff so I don't really don't know why they treat customers that way.

We received a $25 gift certificate to Applebee's and ended up here as it is relatively near our home. We opted for the much advertised "2 for $20" deal that ended up being $24.79 after upgrading the ribblet basket to a platter and tax. My wife opted for the New Orleans chicken and shrimp. As our appetizer we chose the Spicy Queso Blanco. Our starter came quite quickly and was as good as could be expected for a processed cheese product. However the problems started with the entrees. The chicken was very dry and over done and the accompanying potatoes were not at all seasoned while the mushrooms had been cooked into oblivion. My ribblet platter looked very forlornly sitting all alone in the big plate with a handful of weak looking fries. The ribblets while tasting alright were very under sauced. The fries were again bland and lacking of any flavor. We only had one major issue with the service when our water was refilled with warm tap water, not simply not cooled water but warm enough to melt any remaining ice on contact. Overall we were very underwhelmed and have been reinforced in our decision to avoid this chain.

We were the first customers in on a saturday morning, so you would think they would serve us fresh food. Instead my breadstick was microwaved so when I got it, it was rock hard and the pasta I had also tasted like it had been sitting in a warmer for too long, mushy vegetables, yuck! To top it off the waiter over charged my card! I know it's applebees and it's cheap, but in this economy, it's quality over quantity for me. If a restaurant doesn't take pride in what their putting out, even if it is a chain, I will never visit them again.

It's Applebees. What do you expect? The food is just ok at best. The service is generally friendly, but often rather inattentive. Prices are alright, but not great for what you get. But I'm not writing this review to encourage you to go grab dinner here. I'm writing it to tell you to check out Karaoke Night on Tuesdays (9pm-12am). Half price appetizers accompanied by an eclectic mix of live music (some better than others!) makes for a good time. This is the only reason I go. I was tempted to give this review more stars for the Karaoke, but can't justify giving Applebees more than 3! In fact, without Karaoke, Applebees would get 1-2 stars at most from me. That's just the way it is!

  • Ashley S.

I will say, I don't like Applebees. I have been here far to many times tried practly half the menu and have yet to find something that I enjoy (minus the peach sangria). Why would I subject to myself to this fate once more... Karaoke. Now I don't go to karaoke night to sing, I spare people of that. I go because: 1. it is entertaining. 2. It is like a free concert. LOL That is if the subjects that get up on stage sing well. All and all go for Karaoke on Tuesday 9pm, get a drink, spare your stomach from the food. If you must consume food the mozzarella stick and wings are probably the best bet, not great but will not kill you. Isn't the point of eating out to eat good food?!?

Food, prices, and atmosphere were all 4-star... ish. What put me off this place with the manager. He kept coming to us and the tables around us to ask if our food was ok and then ask if our waiter was treating us alright, but with a kind of look in his eye that said, "If he's doing something wrong, tell me, and I'll bust him.". Thing was that our waiter was great. I really felt he value my wife and me as individuals. On the other hand I felt the manager valued me as a number. I almost wanted to tell the waiter, "Hey, don't let the man get you down!" Then as we were walking out the door the greeter asked us the same question about our waiter. I assured them all that our waiter was great, but the whole situation just made me uncomfortable.

The date was 9-9-13. My Mother and I went to Applebee's because we have not been there for years and thought we would give it a try. I ordered off the Weightwatchers menu, Shrimp and Veg. TERRIBLE. My Mom ordered Fish n Chips. HORRIBLE! Fish was burnt and the fries were reheated. Our server, Oscar was great! We told him and he got a Manager. He apologized and asked we wanted a new dish. We told him no, just more bad food. We only told him to help the poor next diner. He was real short with temper and RUDE. He just said thank for the FYI. The waiter came back and we suggested he take something off the bill. Waiter said 10%. Terrible. I told him 1/2 off just that dish would help. So they did. WE will never go BACK and let all of our family n friends know about this. Send him back to training. HORRIBLE management and HORRIBLE FOOD. It's too bad! He could of at least offered a free meal ticket for next times visit, just to get us back in the door to visit. Oscar, our server was great!

It's applebees. It's what you expect. It's exactly everything you saw in Waiting. I hope they weren't showing each other the "brains" in the kitchen. The good thing: they're open later on sundays when everyone else is closed. And the servers were pretty cool.

We ate at this restaurant twice on a roadtrip from San Diego to Wyoming. The food was excellent and so was the service. Both times I was very impressed with the personable service. The first time the manager introduced himself and when we asked for directions, he had a server come to our table who was familiar with the area in which we were headed. The second time was for lunch and it was also very delicious. The same manager remembered us and again took the time to talk to us.
