High Cholesterol at Zaxby's

If you are supposed to restrict your calorie count, then try any of the zalads and club it up with a sandwich to fill your stomach with delicious food. To curb the cravings for deep fried food, opt for a small portion (5) of boneless wings and chicken fingerz.

Instead of ordering fried chicken wing servings, you can always request for a grilled sandwich with lettuce, onion, and tomatoes to counter high cholesterol. A sandwich calorie count can range between 900 to 1600 calorie which can be reduced by asking for healthier options.

Foods to Avoid at Zaxby's for High Cholesterol

Salads are often great and considered healthy. However, if you have high cholesterol, then you must be careful while ordering salads or shall we say Zalads at Zaxby's. Fried Cobb salad contains high-fat content which can spike your LDL cholesterol levels. Most food items on Zaxby's menu are high in fat content if you increase the quantity. Instead of opting for 10 or 20 chicken wings from the menu, opt for 5 traditional chicken wings to control your cholesterol balance.

As a Georgia transplant I was so happy to hear there was a zaxbys near SLC. It was a bit of a drive to Ogden well further than I would usually drive for food but Zaxbys is so worth it. Finally some good sweet tea, chicken fingers, crinkle fries and good service. Thank you for bringing a smile to this southerners face :)

This place is all hype. The fries are over seasoned. The chips are over seasoned. The "hot" wings taste like they've been dipped in cheap Mexican hot sauce and the only thing I could stand to eat out of the three plates we ordered were the plain pieces of toast

Ive been waiting for years to try Zaxbys, so I was very excited when they opened on 12th street! I went with my in-laws and between the 3 of us we got a chicken finger platter, grilled chicken sandwich, spicy fried mushrooms, wings with sweet and spicy sauce, and a birthday cake milkshake (for about $30). All of our fried foods were nice and crispy and not at all greasy. The breading on the chicken fingers was perfect, not too thick but not too light (I hate when I get chicken and it's all breading). I'm a big fan of crinkle cut fries so it was a nice change from getting them at Del Taco, much crispier at Zaxbys. The birthday cake shake was love at first sight...Chocolate whipped cream and sprinkles, yes please! They don't have their shake flavors listed when you go inside but the choice are banana cream pie, birthday cake, and brownie. For their wings they have the standard hot sauces with about 4 different intensities (Wimpy, Nuclear, etc) and then if you want something a little more tangy they have 4 sauces that tailor to that (Honey Mustard, Teriyaki, BBQ, and Sweet & Spicy). My father in law said the sweet & spicy was good but he wishes he got the boneless wings, just because they're less messy. He also enjoyed the fried mushroom zappetizer, though I personally would've ordered the fried white cheddar bites. I was very pleased with my experience at Zaxbys! Good food, pleasant staff, and a clean and attractive modern appearance! KFC always makes me sick so it's great to have options like Popeyes and Zaxbys in Utah now. I will definitely be back!

Eat here at your own risk. The food is just okay. The menu is all nicknames with no descriptions. The prices are way too high for the value of the food. They literally don't put napkins out, they make you ask for them. Wow. Service is always poor. Been here a few times and it's always been mediocre to bad. Won't ever be returning.

I've never been to the Southeast. But the food definitely made a statement!! The chicken tenders were seasoned PERFECTLY! I got some mildly spicy wings and they were very tasty and they came with celery which was very much appreciated. Crinkle fries are classic, but the dipping sauce!! DIP THE CHICKEN TENDERS INTO THE CHICKEN SAUCE AND YOUR LIFE WILL CHANGE FOR THE BETTER! To summarize I nearly cried when I finished my meal. I'm not saying that this place is perfect, well it kinda is. KFC will soon be going out of business. Because This Has To Be THE BEST DARN CHICKEN I'VE EVER HAD! GO EAT THERE!

I heard people rave how good it was, for me not so much. Friendly staff, just poor to fair wings.

From the outside, this restaurant looks really nice! It gives off a modern, upscale vibe. But it didn't take me very long to figure out that the high-prices they charge for meals, don't go toward purchasing high-quality food... I'm guessing the profits go to building upkeep? Because my meal was pretty disgusting! The only edible thing in my boneless BBQ wings meal was the celery. The sauce on the wings was too spicy (I ordered the wimpiest heat available), and the deep-fried breading wasn't crispy. The cheese toast was too salty. My kids ordered the Kidz Nibbler meals. They liked the fruit snacks. And that's about it. They weren't fans of the crinkle fries. And not one, of my three children, liked the chicken sandwiches. Since I wasn't enjoying my wings, I helped myself to one of the sandwiches. Salt, salt, & more salt. But more edible than the wings. My husband is the lone member of our family that likes (even loves) Zaxby's. He thinks their Cobb Zalad is amazing! I may just have to take his word for it? Because I'm not in a rush to go back.

I was drawn to Zaxby's by the very stoic looking chicken gracing its sign on 12th Street in Ogden following a taxing day of skiing. Who can say no to a stoic chicken in circumstances like that? Turns out Zaxby's is a chain, started in Georgia. They sell chicken in its most common forms -- fingerz (the "z" makes them unique), wingz (the breaded kind, either boneless or "traditional"), sandwiches, and on top of salads (grilled, blackened, or breaded). (They also have appetizers, like fried mushrooms, pickles, and "fried white cheddar bites" that all looked pretty good, but didn't make it onto my plate.) I tried the fingerz platter with fries and slaw, with Zaxby's sauce. The fingers themselves were quite good-- freshly fried, with crispy bredding. I'm not sure that they're appreciably tastier than the average quick-service restaurant's chicken fingers, but they're not bad. The fries are the thick, crinkle-cut variety, but dusted with a little bit of seasoning. The slaw was inedible, tasting of refrigerator and stale cabbage tears. One of the ways that chicken restaurants can differentiate themselves is through sauce, and Zaxby's certainly does. The "Zaxby's sauce" feels more Caribbean/Louisiana than Georgia to me, with cajun and jerk spices floating in a pretty thick mayonnaise, with some black pepper notes for fun. It's not a sauce I'll crave for the rest of my life, but it had a nice zing and complimented the chicken and the fries well. Since the other mainstay at Zaxby's appears to be wings, I thought I'd better try some wing sauce. The woman behind the counter was very nice to provide a complimentary container of "Tongue Torch" to me. Though the graphics that dot the restaurant make it seem like a hot sauce, it's actually listed as their "medium" wing sauce. I liked it. Less buffalo and more vinegar+black pepper, it had a nice bite at the beginning and a mild, slow burn as I dipped into it more. It's not out-of-this-world, but compares favorably with other hot sauces, and it a little unique to boot. Zaxby's claims it is one of the first fast-casual restaurant chains, but it tends a little bit closer to the "fast" than the "casual." The booths and tables are comfortable, but the atmosphere just seemed a bit more cheesy and a little less refined than, say, a Chipotle. Plus, the prices pushed the fast food limit. My meal (5 fingers, fries, slaw, no drink) was about 8 bucks, which is not bad, but to charge more than a buck a wing seems a little excessive. Three more plusses--they have the magical Coke machine that lets you get more than 100 soda combinations; they have to TVs which, at the time, were showing the NFL playoffs with the sound on (though competing with some light pop music); and the servers were really friendly. One minus--the temperature was really hot-- I'm guessing it was 78 degrees or more. An overall decent place, and not bad to get your chicken fix (a particularly good alternative to chik-fil-a if your politics gets in the way of your fast food), but I think I'd choose any of the local (Wingerz) or even chain (Buffalo Wild Wings) options if I really wanted wings. 3.5 stars, lowered to 3 because of the sweltering indoor temps.

I love chicken. Especially chicken wings and chicken fingers (see my other reviews) I have got to say that Zaxby's is my absolute new favorite place to get all of the above! I usually get the "Big Zax Snack" because it comes with a drink, fries, chicken strips and a large piece of Texas toast, toasted perfectly. The seasoned batter on the chicken is amazing as is the seasoning on the crisp french fries. The building looks great from the outside and nice on the inside with plenty of booths and tables. Cashiers greet you with a smile and are very helpful if you don't know what to get. They have one of those new Coke machines that you can mix and match any drink combo imaginable. My only complaint is the size of the chicken strips that they give you. I have visited a couple times and gotten some very small pieces that couldn't really be called strips. If they improved this I would have nothing else bad to say. Finally, their sauces. They have a great selection of your standard sauces including wing sauce, bbq, honey mustard, ranch, and a couple hot varieties that aren't as hot as they claim them to be. If you are from Utah, then fry sauce is a part of your DNA and their "ZAX" sauce here is incredible. It is a smooth, peppery take on standard fry sauce that i just can't get enough of. I always have to order an extra! If you love chicken, try this place out and you will be glad you did...

When I first saw Zaxby's I was driving home from going out to another restaurant. The line for Zaxby's was super long as they had just opened. I hadn't ever heard of them but I thought that I'd check out what the commotion was. Their most popular item is the chicken plate. It's 4 pieces of chicken, fries, Texas toast, coleslaw, and dipping sauce. This is the item we ended up ordering. All of it was good but being partial to Texas Toast that was probably my favorite item. The breading and spices on the chicken were also very tasty. You can get the 4 pieces of chicken for $4.99 if you do not want to do a plate. The only reason I did not give 5 stars is that I thought the chicken fingers were smaller than they should be for the price that they were. At almost a dollar each I was hoping they'd be larger.

Terrible! Ordered the Wings n Things and my wings were cold, gelatinous, rubber. They sucked! I'm not sure what all the hype is about. I think they are overpriced for what you get. The chicken strips were OK, but my fries were not great. Don't think I will ever go back, it's just not worth it.

First time here. Chicken wings are good, my wife insists the Cobb salad is a must eat. Soooo..... It must be true. Gonna remember this place so i can come back and try the other stuff. Only opened a short while ago, so the crowd hasn't really died down yet. Which can be good since means they are doing well.

This is an obligatory review from Zaxby's biggest fan. I can (and may) post this review about each location I visit, simply because the truth is relevant to every location. The food is the same no matter which Zaxby's you visit, even though the service or prices might vary slightly. If you are a beginner to Zaxby's, I strongly recommend that you get something like a "Big Zax Snack" or something with regular chicken tenders and some sides. You should definitely be dipping your chicken into Zax sauce. It will change your life. If you're a ranch fan, that would also be a wise choice, but do NOT pass up on the chance to try (and fall in love with) Zax sauce. Zaxby's is all about the sauce! Now, as for my favorites, my "usual" typically includes Hot Honey Mustard fingers (ordered as "Buffalo Fingers, hot honey mustard"). The Hot Honey Mustard is not spicy, but does have a "zing" to it. It is not like any honey mustard you have had before. Chicken fingers tossed in this sauce are like heaven, yet I still will sometimes dip these into ranch, for a sauce combo punch! It's not crazy, as you will sense later. I also have a great love for the "Tater Chips". I love them best when they are "semi-floppy", and not all the way crispy, but they are still amazing no matter the texture. Dip these bad boys in a sauce of your choosing, but I tend to prefer Ranch :) . Another good choice is the "Kickin Chicken Sandwich". Normally I'm not a sandwich fan, as this is a chicken place, the focus should be on the chicken. Well, there is nothing new with this sandwich, because it's basically composed of the "Texas Toast" with some tenders, with a combo of two sauces (Tongue Torch and Ranch by default). It is customizable with whatever two sauces you want, but the default is good too (think hot wings + ranch). This sandwich is terrible for you, I'm sure, since it's super greasy toast, with chicken and two sauces, but OH MAN it is good. Now, no review would be complete without the downside. There is of course the "downside" that you will become addicted to Zaxby's, and you will end up turning over many a paycheck to these guys, but all deserved for sure. There are some things at Zaxby's that I don't eat, just because. When you order "buffalo fingers", you can choose your sauce to toss them in, these are conventionally served with celery. If I order this online, I have them hold the celery (I don't want it, so you can keep it). I do not eat Zaxby's "bone-in" wings because their chicken tenders are WAY better. I also do not eat the "boneless wings". This is a somewhat newer addition to the Zaxby's menu, but are not as good as the tenders. Do yourself a favor, and stick to the good stuff: Chicken fingerz, buffalo fingerz (hot honey mustard being the best), some Texas Toast, fries, tater chips, mushrooms, or Kickin Chicken Sandwich. My dad loves the slaw so much, he has been known to go through the drive thru JUST for the slaw. I have gone through just for the sauces.

If you're eating at Zaxby's and you're not eating chicken fingers dipped in Zax sauce, YOU'RE DOING IT WRONG! This place is all about the chicken and sauce. Sometimes the menu is confusing, which makes me wish they would go the raisin Cane's route and just put the important stuff on there...chicken and sides. Also, the birthday cake shake is amazing! Overpriced but delicious.

I heard a lot of hype about this place so we decided to give it a try. I haven't ever ate at a Zaxby's anywhere but I am glad we did this time! I decided to give their chicken strips a taste test, along with their spicy fried mushrooms. They both come with a different style of Zaxby's dipping sauce. The one for the chicken strips is a little more peppery than the other,as in black pepper. Both sauces were very good. The chicken strips didn't seem to be overly breaded and had pretty good flavor. The french fries with my meal were pretty good, but nothing that made them stand out. The meal also came with some Cole slaw and some Texas Toast. The coleslaw didn't have a lot of flavor, but it was decent. I like my coleslaw to be more on the creamy side, and this was more on the dry side. The Texas toast appeared to have butter on it, but it didn't have any flavor, it was a greasy piece of toast. The spicy fried mushrooms were excellent. They aren't the typical fried mushroom buttons, they are slices. They had good flavor, and the spice was very mild, but it set them off well. It wasn't busy when we got in there, but the rush hit right after. This place was packed. I will come here again, the chicken strips saved it in my opinion.

It's nice to have another option for chicken and Zaxby's (sort of) takes on that role. Chicken wings, fingers, and other assorted fried goodies. The spices were good, the chicken fingers juicy, and the wings a solid "meh." There aren't breasts, thighs, or legs on the menu and the only bones are the aforementioned wings. The menu selection resembles what you might find in a pub or bar and is quite tasty, just not what I was expecting. They do have one of those fancy Coke machines that gives you N+ options and they brew their own iced tea. Always a plus. Pricing is competitive and you won't have to sell a child to eat here.

It looks like I will suddenly be up in that area, at least for the time being, a lot more often than anticipated, but I don't believe I will be visiting this place again. I went today and caught up on the stuff I didn't get last time but wanted to try. The white cheddar bite things were not very good, plain and rather bland. The sauce that came with them was ok. The Zaxby's sauce for the tenders, which I didn't try last time was dreadful. Wing sauce was ok, but I'm not a fan of the creamy buffalo thing. Their various hot sauces were mostly palatable but even at Atomic XXX Hot, there was very little heat. Nearly every sauce I have on hand is considerably hotter (and tastier). The honey mustard was pretty good, though. I will give them that. I also got a cookie and a brownie. I think I would have been happier eating the actual dollar bills it took to pay for them. Definite pass next time. Like KFC, I'm just not really feeling this place, though I like this better than KFC. I've gone through everything on the menu that was interesting to me, but there is nothing appealing enough, save for maybe the Coke Freestyle machine, for me to return.

This was my third visit and I tried it again because I have friends who grew up in the south and love the food. I ordered the Grilled Chicken Sandwich meal. The chicken tasted pretty good, the fries were limp and not not very crispy (maybe it's a southern preference). I also ordered a large UNsweetened tea, it's my go to drink in the summer. I got home and started drinking it and it was sweet tea. Yuck! This is the third time it has happened. When I go again to eat my grilled chicken sandwich I'll get some tea elsewhere.

Very busy, but very good. Even though it was busy, the wait wasn't bad. I have been to other Zaxby's in the south and loved them and this location delivered the goods. I had a grilled chicken sandwich and tried a chicken tender (one of my daughter's) and fries. I loved it. My friend got a salad and raved about it so that's what I am trying next time. My daughter loved her kids meal. Can't wait for more Zaxby's closer to home. By the way, they have pebble ice and the new Coke machines as well as super good shakes and wings. My kinda place!
